… Counterpoint, it's not stupid and we should not just assume that the devs did something just because of money. If they did they would have made it so Rick has at least one perk that's not a total joke but he's got nothing but trash D and F tier perks so clearly if making something 'only exist to sell the dlc' then logically they would have given him something.
It is stupid because of how ridiculously easy it is to abuse that perk. They don't need to give Rick a broken perk as well. Most people will buy them together to get the pair for the discount. If you think they didn't release something this blatantly broken to sell the dlc I can only assume you weren't around for the MoM release or have forgotten that train wreck.

Eh, it is fair by this games standards, sometimes one side brings stuff that's stupidly strong against the other side like with plague negating healing perks and med-kits. You could have tried downing them further away from the gate or positioned yourself to bodyblock, problem solved.
No, that perk is stupid and should never have been made. We all know it only exists to sell the dlc.

How does the game discern whether the survivor is being tunneled or intentionally wants to go down? Well, I'm pretty sure its impossible for it to know
I agree.
-
Because it's still fun for the most part. Whenever it begins to become more frustrating than fun I take a break. My last break from DbD lasted over two years.

@SoGo said:
I would agree that new perks often end up too weak.
I assume this is a product of CoH and MfT metas, which forever scarred the devs and the trauma keeps them from releasing strong perks.
The community outcries don't help either.(sometimes they are justified, sometimes not)
In the last year and a half, Orela Rose is the only character with 3 good perks. The rest has at least one awful one, sometimes even all 3.
Two good perks imo Rapid Response is garbage.
-
Given they also did an engine update with this patch it's not surprising.
-
@Rudjohns said:
If survivors can't unhook themselves anymore, whats the point of this system?
I dont get it
Because you can intentionally try to get killed fast in other ways. What they're attempting makes sense. Unfortunately it just doesn't work and almost certainly never will.

Whole game after someone uses a Fog vial. Supposedly it can also happen even if no one uses a Fog vial, but I am not sure.
Damn. Well good to know. I haven't played post update. Guess I'll be waiting to try the Fog Vial out.

considering it breaks chase mechanics(a bug since it was introduced during the halloween events and was never fixed) no, this item needs to be kill switched until it doesn’t completely break chases.
Breaks them how?
-
Hopefully they will retire them. They're not worth bringing and just clutter up bloodwebs with more filler. Same for luck, hatch, and basement spawn offerings.
-
Yeah, I don't get this at all. Anybody could see what a massive momentum killer that perk was going to be. I can only assume they did it to sell the dlc.
-
@rydiafan said:
If you had that many stockpiled you obviously weren't using them, so they were worthless.
Depending on how long they've played it really wouldn't be hard to get that many key and map addons. I didn't use maps alot but I always grabbed the addons because I did like maps.
-
@Jacknalls_Paw said:
So what? Do you prefer those brown rubbish offerings which only result in a waste of bloodpoints?
I assume they were just asking if anyone else noticed this. Pretty sure they weren't complaining.
-
It's not necessarily a matter of priorities. They may have found it easier to make changes to Trickster they were happy with. While Skull Merchant is a harder nut to crack. I would assume they're trying to make her stronger and more appealing while not losing the elements her devoted fanbase like about her. Which is mo easy task.
-
Built to Last got a tiny buff.
Franklin's was barely used. It needed a rework instead of an execution though.
Fog Vials would be pretty bad if they didn't recharge or at least have more than one use. Honestly I'm surprised they didn't make them charged based like the new maps and keys. Then add a cooldown.
They did get a couple of nice perk buffs. Hubris might be viable to use now.
Agreed about Clown. I'm not a fan of the changes. His addons were gutted.

it can't be denied it was miserable to face
I never really cared. I don't really need my item to play…
I'm glad they removed the depletion effect.
Sure, but it simply needs some valid secondary effect. Bigger aura reading change was just useless.
or just completely rework it and give the effect to WeaveI mean that's what I said. I wish they'd have reworked it to have a useful effect that wasn't obnoxious to face.
-
@SpringMyTrap They have to sell those dlc somehow. I'm calling it now. Conviction will get the Mettle of Man treatment and be nerfed within a few months once they've sold enough dlc.

Yeah, that would be the better solution. Make the Perk useful instead of nerfing a bad Perk to make it even worse. I mean, people only complain because it is a Killer Perk which is nerfed, so this huge echo chamber does what it usually does. But it is not like if they revert it that the people who are now complaining will suddenly run the Perk, since it would still be bad.
So they should have just reworked it into a decent Perk instead.
Fr the outcry has been wild. It was an obnoxious perk that I barely ever came across.

You would be an absolute fool to keep chasing a survivor that had used a Fog Vial.
She's one of the strongest killers in the game. I think she can afford to lose 10 seconds.

can you blame spirits? they've been tortured by iron will then otr for years and their only bandaid was "eh , have a dried cherry blossom. take it or leave it."
Plenty of Spirit players use their phase to injure healthy survivors. Iron Will does nothing to prevent that injury. Even against Iron Will Spirit had footsteps, breathing, and (on most maps) grass to work with. They've hardly been suffering.
@Zeidoktor said:

I imagine Vial use will be at its worst in the first days/weeks as Survivors enjoy their new toy, then taper off to using other items/their previous preference
This is my belief as well. They'll be fun for a while but people will quickly go back to the big three items.
-
@PetTheDoggo said:

It wasn't bad perk on specific killers. It's fine, if you didn't like to use it, but it just wasn't bad perk.
It was quite good on Wraith and Hag, because those killers regularly drop their chase. They simply can't commit to all of their chases, that's good way to lose…
I often played Franklins when I have seen 4 items as Wraith, didn't even play Weave for it. It was better than Sloppy imo.
Then Franklins for decent with Weave on any M1 killer. Weave is so much worse now, because of this nerf.I think a better way to describe Franklin's is to say it was an unhealthy perk. It's strength is debatable but it can't be denied it was miserable to face. I'm glad they removed the depletion effect. I do wish they'd have reworked Franklin's to be useful in some way though. Regardless of how much I hated Franklin's I don't want to see anything nerfed into useless status.

"It's okay that a survivor item completely counters a killer and turns them into an M1 4.4 killer for an extended period of time because survivors might not bring that item all the time."
So what you're basically saying is we're back to lobby dodging. Like Wraith used to do with flashlights, and Trapper used to do with toolboxes.
If you read my post my argument was twofold. 10 seconds isn't an extended period of time. At most you lose out on a single phase. Meaning you have 50 seconds before they can do it again. That's plenty of time for even a decent Spirit to get a down. The Vials will be a petty annoyance, not a death blow.
-
They have to tunnel more because they don't have Franklin's? You can't be serious. People will tunnel because they want to. A nerf to a little used perk won't make any difference to tunneling.

I think they are speaking the "survivors make no sound in the fog area" against spirit survivors will always drop the vial and have a large area to work with nullifying the way spirit gets downs (phasing ontop of them)
I understand what the concern is. I just don't see it as a lasting issue.
@TimberGoingDown said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3972206#Comment_3972206
I'm sorry, I don't think you understand how powerful an "I escape chase" button really is.
I understand how powerful it can be. However as I said I'm pretty sure they won't be used much after a couple of weeks. Even if they were they can't be constantly spammed. The effect lasts what 10 seconds? At worst they make you waste one phase because of the Vials. I'm not saying it won't be annoying, it absolutely will. I'm just not convinced it'll be nearly as crippling as you're predicting.
-
I hated Franklin's with a passion so I can't say I'm bothered. I do wish they'd have simply reworked it into something useful though.
-
@TimberGoingDown said:
This is a really bad patch all around. Spirit got murdered, too. Fog Vials make survivors literally untrackable in phase.
Tbh I think you're overreacting on the Fog Vials. They'll be annoying for a couple of weeks until the novelty wears off. After that I doubt they'll be used much by anyone playing seriously.
-
Poor Clown lost all his good addons and had his purple bottles killed.
-
Next one needs to be the chainsaw boys. Bubba and Billy side by side as the Entity intended.

This is also a major element of the horror theme... tapping into that idea of, can you live with yourself getting out alive by sacrificing someone else, especially when you know you might be able to save them?
This very factor of feeling bad to leave a player behind is precisely the emotion you are meant to feel in this scenario... you can try and save them... but by doing so, you are risking everything yourself... in horror, heroism does not help your survival, ruthless pragmatism does.
It is why if you die and 3 other players escape, MMR considers you to lose as a survivor, no ifs ands or buts... trying to save others is the morally right thing to do... but the smart thing to do it just leave... @jamally093 what you've described is a perfectly designed feature of the game to emulate that feeling dame feeling/conundrum you would face in an equivalent real world scenario.
The way they calculate MMR is so ridiculous tbh.
-
It all depends on what matters to you. If escapes matter to you than leave. Nobody is entitled to an end game save. I get that it feels bad to leave them but sometimes it's the better play. Generally I'll try to save unless I know I can't without dying in their place.

Dredge as music or do you the constant wailing? Also i can see what you mean with nightfall the point is no visibility but it's annoying when you have a good chase going and a tiny tile just stops you.
The music and the wailing. The wailing though is especially obnoxious.
-
I only offer up my item as a thank you after they've already decided or sometimes as kind of an apology if they had a rough game.
One time I had a chest defender Bubba when I was running a loot goblin build. I spent half the match running to other chests to bring the Bubba items. I miss those silly times.
-
@CompetitifDBD said:
They should be Reworked into deathhook kills only. These add ons are really unfair when they can activate with no chase and hook effort
That would be useless. Imo it just needs a new effect entirely.
-
Dredge, Onryo, and Knight.
Dredge: I hate Nightfall with a passion. I can't see a damn thing (I know that's the point). The Nightfall music is ungodly annoying. I just find that stupid blob insufferable to face.
Onryo: The constant flickering in and out of sight. It's a pain to keep track of her and I hate it.
Knight: Getting wedge between him and his guards sucks. It often feels like you're forced into a lose lose situation with him.

Because they want to win. Meta perks are meta because they're generally the best perks/help the most people win.

I think having him retrieve traps from lockers instead of from around the map would be a huge help. Then make it so once he's used every trap if he wants to get more without picking them up and moving them he simply goes to a locker and the traps on the map get replaced in the order they were set.

Ah Lightborn the ultimate OP perk. It's just too strong. Needs a nerf honestly. Pig too now that I think of it.

@jedimaster505 said:
not really…I play only solo Q and used to run it a lot. maybe in low MMR it's more helpful when your teammates have terrible game sense. otherwise most of the time my teammates will know what to do given the HUD info. and in the event two survivors go to save, it often turns into an opportunity to double reset, which can help regardless. its not that its a bad perk, it can definitely help sometimes with coordination and seeing the killers aura, but it's not so OP that it outperforms all other perks. to be honest, if your teammates don't have the game sense to know when to go for a save given HUD info like who's on a gen, who's in chase, proximity to hook, etc, you're probably dead anyways.
Tbf it gives alot of information you can't get through the Hud. Syre I can tell person A is in chase and person B has their gen almost completed so I need to save. However I don't know where the chase is happening and therefore if I need to take a less direct route. With Kindred I can tell which way the killer is headed after hooking so I know if I should pre-run. If one person is in chase and the other is trailing them I know the save is up to me as the second person is likely trying to get a flashy/pallet save. In short while the Hud is invaluable, Kindred still is extremely useful.

That last part was a joke… I think.
Wereduck ftw.

It's just a really nice perk. Useful information and a small repair speed bonus.

Just make the perks visible in game. Add them to the pause menu. That way they can be played around without people dodging.
