They can do both. As soon as you finish that generator, they will close the Hatch and now know where you are. This is not always a viable option.
If the devs are serious about bringing a Trial to a quick close, there's no valid reason why the Hatch shouldn't auto-close. The current experience deprives Survivors of opportunities and Perks that may provide relief or even a comeback from some situations. This was done in the name of "swiftly ending matches so everyone can move on to the next." Keep it consistent. The Hatch should auto-close so everyone can move on to the next match.
They know where you were sure. Doesn't mean you can't evade them after they close the hatch.

Fair point. Yes either fully healed or hooked.

Lets be real, you kinda have impossible standards.
If someone is often afk at the start of the game, no matter the circumstances, he should be punished. How many emergencies would you need to have?
That's only one of the problems with the system. People get hit for being tunneled out early. What happens if you are the first down and nobody saves you? There are simply too many issues.

It does compensate for his lack of mobility and gives him an edge in chase. A decent idea.
Obviously it would need testing to get the balance right and it's hardly the only change he needs but I think it would be easy to implement.

I’m not sure what your Maimed effect does that Hindered doesn’t already do, but other than that I’ve had this idea for a good while as well.
Hindered is generally on a timer (with the exception of fully infected by Wesker) this wouldn't have a timer. I suppose a better way of wording it might be to make it a single status effect that rolls Hindered, Hemorrhage, and Mangled into one status effect.

No. The only way they could get it right is if they would stalk you and find out why you are afk. How should the system decide its an emergency or something similar? Thats just impossible to differentiate.
Idk how they can fix it. All I know is it's not a good or well thought out system. It needs to be disabled until they can better fine tune it or be scraped entirely.

I don't think they should ever try to get it right, tbh. I would prefer if they just disabled it and never tried again.
So do I tbh but I doubt BHVR will give it up. They put too much time into it and you can tell they were really proud of it.

I don't have a main exactly. Wraith is probably the closest I have. I'd like to see a couple of his addons reworked to give him original Windstorm making his uncloak lunge bigger.

I couldn't see a damn thing even with the gamma turned up. God I hate Dredge.

I personally like the new map and keys. In terms of the vial nerfs it was really needed however, the vials are NOT useless. (Here come the 100 downvotes) I play survivor a lot…and I mean…A LOT. The vials are a lot of fun still. I make some great plays with them and I have some great escapes too. Are they perfect? No…But what item or perk is in this game. Everything has a pro and a con.
While playing killer the Vials did absolutely nothing to hinder me. Haven't tried them on survivor but they certainly seem useless.
-
Do gens if they camp the hatch. They can either camp the hatch or come after you.
-
They're a limited use item. I'm not saying they can't be strong but they're really not a big deal.

Why mods haven't just outright banned the tribalism posts is beyond me. They are always made in bad faith, be it to ragebait or attack other people, they never lead to productive conversations, they're never mature and respectful, they contribute literally nothing positive to the forum and only serve to foster a hostile and toxic discussion environment. It's just kids screaming at each other on playgrounds because it's someone else's turn with the ball.
I would guess they want to allow people to vent in the hopes they're experience will be better afterwards. Probably doesn't actually work but I suppose they think it's worth a shot.

Other than Dramaturgy and Finesse you mean?

And then every killer will dodge every swf and queue times will be a complete nightmare. No thank you.

When I set up a build around it, dropped a flashbang to blind the killer first, then dropped fog, left the loop, took a hard 90 degree turn, and the killer was STILL on my ass within seconds (was just a pinhead, no dashes), yes the item is already weak.
I braced myself to play killer when they came out and equipped Predator expecting to be losing chases left and right. Only to laugh at how useless they were most of the time as I continued chasing survivors through them with no issue.
Nerfing these immediately while Kaneki is still being "evaluated" and Lightning McClown is left untouched, just WOW.
"Lightning McClown" 😂😂😂

I’m sure they must’ve expected things to break as well, and the patch shouldn’t have passed QA like this. They would’ve looked better if they delayed it to make sure it was up to standard before releasing or set aside enough time to thoroughly test and fix things before release.
It’s insane that if they tested this at all they saw all the problems and thought it was ok to release it like this. It shows a lack of care and attention, and certainly doesn’t say Labour of Love to me.I'm not excusing the patch. It's indefensible that they released something this bad. I was simply offering an answer to the OP as to why seemingly unrelated things were broken.
-
My solution is to simply not play.
-
I don't see that as a worthwhile trade tbh. Invocations are pretty bad and I don't see a way to make them worth using without a massive overhaul.
-
I knew when I saw they were messing with the engine alot of stuff would break.
-
Unless I'm misremembering they also did an engine update with this patch. That's one of the main reasons it was such a large patch. Given that it's not surprising a bunch of things broke. Not sure why they didn't save it for a mid chapter without any new characters though.

When Wesker is chasing one person stopping them from getting a First Aid Spray, the other people could just go to another chest on the other side of the map, he can't be everywhere at once. I also NEVER said I want this to be on killers like Nemesis and Wesker, you brought that up, I just wanted it on Vecna.
I think there might be some confusion here - I'm specifically asking for Human Greed to work on Vecna's magical chests, not requesting changes to how it interacts with other killers' mechanics. The Nemesis/Wesker scenarios you're describing aren't really relevant to what I'm suggesting, since I never proposed extending this to their interactables.
I understand what you're asking for. It would hardly be fair to other killers if Vecna got this and they didn't though. It would open the door to an issue that would be best avoided imo.
-
@Jargonator said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3977455#Comment_3977455
The difference is that if you use Human Greed on Wesker or Nemesis it functions perfectly fine, but it's practically useless on Vecna due to him replacing most of the chests on the map, and I don't really consider those chests in the way I consider Vecna's Chests as chests, but still a valid point. And also, clearing your infection when fighting against a Nemesis is not NEARLY as important as getting the Magical Items when Playing against a Vecna.
And also... if It DID work on Wesker and Nemesis Chests it wouldn't be the end of the world, because sure the Killer could camp one... but there are multiple chests, and if the Killer is camping a chest then they aren't kicking gens or applying Pressure.
I'm not talking about them camping the chest. I'm talking about them interrupting you getting a vaccine and in Weskers case running you to ground because you can't remove the infection.
-
Making it work on killer chests would be terrible. Imagine Nemesis and Wesker being able to guard the supply chests with ease.
-
Pick one of the perks you run and make that your testing slot. After that don't worry about the results. Win or lose try to focus on having fun.

I wouldn't nerf the effect, but they should have either limited charges (2-3), or make survivor do something to recharge it.

That's literally false, though.
According to the real stats (not the collective hallucination you are engaging with) 70% of games had at bare minimum a duo, with only 30% being completely made of 4 solo queue players.

Where is the data to prove most games are full soloq?
The last stats I saw on the matter (which are pretty old) a bit over 50% of games were full solo-queue. Duos unsurprisingly were next with well over 25%. Actual full 4 man swfs were something around 5%. All that said the person you were responding to is a fool. You don't need a swf for that perk to work. Even a single random teammate hovering is enough to get use.
@topic It's 100% getting a nerf after they sell enough walking dead dlcs.

It would be a good move, if the items had like 10 charges by default. 6 charges is way too little.
6 does feel too little.

-

@SoGo said:
Ok, I will likely be in the minority here, but I actually think that the charge changes are a significant upgrade.
Sure, feathering the Maps/Keys made it last way longer, but with Maps you had so much stuff on the screen you had to hold it down a bit to actually see where everything is.
Plus, Crystal Bead did NOT work well with feathering too. Now, you can see everything way more clearly.
Plus, you rarely need that many uses.
The only add-on for which this is detrimental is Blood Amber, as that was genuinely good when you were tapping the key instead of just holding it.
I think the charge change was a good move tbh. Like you said you had to hold the button for a while anyway. Imo they should have left the tracking abilities the maps had alone and added the windows effect on top.

"an item" : are you doing this on purpose or is the point escaping you that much?
If you're unable to understand the rationale, that's on you.
I can't help you with that. Honestly, I don't think anyone can.You don't like what fog vials do so you plan to ruin the game of anyone who uses them. Wasn't complicated. Just really sad.

That’s a false equivalence a well-known fallacy. Flashlights encourage interaction and are part of the chase. The Fog Vial, on the other hand, actively undermines it.
As for calling my comment “one of the most ridiculous things” you’ve read on this forum: seriously? It was a simple, rational point about punishing the use of an item that interferes with what I love most in the game.
Given the sheer volume of truly absurd takes floating around here, I find that claim pretty ridiculous. (Unless you’ve got a top 1000 list you're updating daily.)Nothing rational about tunneling someone for using an item.
-
@drsoontm said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3975825#Comment_3975825
Obviously. And I don't see any problem with tunneling per se. It's just that I usually try to play nice if I can. (I so rarely get to verse competitive teams.)
I enjoy chases and mind-games. I applaud skillful vanishing acts.
Dropping a cloud of smoke ninja-style to avoid a chase goes against that so discouraging it feels like the right move.
But given all the negative feedback I've seen around (not just here), by the time I launch the game again it will probably be nerfed.
That is honestly one of the most ridiculous things I've seen on here. Why not tunnel every flashlight user. It would make as much sense.
-
Invocation perks are honestly so bad.

it just proves to us that Hold W gaming is the dullest part of the game where survivors can chain loop from tile to tile with the help of Windows of Opportunity. Clown completely counters that now and suddenly the survivors cry and whine about it. Figures.
I mean if you can't loop the killer you're only option is to pre-run and try to delay that way. Pretty sure no survivor is jumping for joy at the prospect of holding W against a killer.

I don't play much anymore but I've seen a video where that fog thing was used. I thought it was some event.
I've looked around to learn about it and it looks extremely annoying.
I don't know when I'll go back in the game (not for a while) but one thing is certain:
If I see a survivor use that stuff, I'll make a point tunneling it out (something I only do against competitive teams)
Basic positive punishment is a thing.
You would tunnel someone for using an item wth.
@[Deleted User] said:
I mentioned this during the last event that fog vials were part of. The fog vials lead to terrible gameplay. They grind the game to a halt. Players are completely avoiding engagement. The game evolved beyond a hide and seek simulator for a reason. This isn't fun.
I personally don't want to sit there and look for players in fog at the start of every chase. More pointedly, I'm not going to do that. I'm just not. Even if you cap these at 2 charges, that's still too many. It's a bad mechanic that leads to boring, slow gameplay.
They also remove a skill component from the survivor side. Why learn positioning when you can spam a smoke bomb? All around not a fan.
Hide and seek went away because looping was more effective. It was actually viable again for a while until Distortion was killed. Personally I always liked it as a survivor. The tension of hiding around a corner not knowing if the killer will spot you. I've missed that alot tbh.
-
Given the time investment idk if I'd call it game breaking. It's a shame as I wanted to try out new Streetwise but can't now. Same with Fog Vials.

I did drop the game for a bit during that time but you bring up a good point of why clamoring to nerf something is bad. MoM went from an admittedly too strong perk to F tier and worthless. It's only gotten worse over the years due to all the healing nerfs. So yeah I'd rather that survivors finally get a good perk that shakes up the meta for awhile instead of another batch of worthless perks. Nick Cage was the last survivor to get actually decent perks and I'm kinda tired of getting nothing but meme perks and niche stuff that's still not great.
I'm a survivor main (been playing more killer lately trying to knock out some achievements). I want survivors to have good perks but Conviction is too easy to abuse. I have to disagree the last good perks came from Nic Cage. Orela got a couple of good perks and Finesse has become meta.
