just hide for 10 minutes and it counts as a loss for killer
all scenarios where the abandon mechanic comes into play is a draw at best and a killer loss at worst
it's a lose lose scenario for killer
I've never seen any number of survivors successfully hide for 10 minutes. And even if they did, the killer doesn't have to abandon the match. This isn't really an abusable mechanic as the killer can simply choose to keep hunting for the survivors who have guaranteed their loss if they were to do that.
Edit: I guess I could imagine some people trying to do this, but I still have never had two or more survivors successfully hide against me for 10 minutes or more. I have had people try to hide against me, but I haven't seen an instance where I thought it was unwarranted. However, I have seen instances of one survivor hiding and the other doing gens...

Do you think the abandon mechanic can be abused?

People don't enjoy playing against him actually, the response has been awful. The only people defending him are those who are trying to gaslight the community because THEY enjoy playing easy mode.
So many of my casual friends have outright stopped playing DBD, didn't even bother playing during the 500 percent bonus.
I hope BHVR are paying attention, it's sad i can't just go "Hey lets go fool around on dbd and be silly"
I don't like playing victim simulator. I want to play SURVIVOR, not VICTIM.Agreed. The response to Kaneki has been predominantly negative. He gets hits that don't even make sense, and has powers that when coupled together, make him annoying to play against. It doesn't feel like it's a survivor vs killer match, but more of a 'how much does The Ghoul mess up?' match.
I haven't bought him yet because I don't think he makes sense in that context. Sometimes I'll play Nurse, Billy, or Wesker, but all of them involve some amount of skill development to use their powers effectively, even though they're all at least reasonably strong. Since release, Ghoul seemed like a killer I'd be a little embarrassed to play much because of how easy it appears to use him. I'll gladly stealth around with my silly Pig mask on instead of playing as Kaneki :D

It's just slugging. 🤷
One time when I was a friendly killer, I had a David with No Mither and Plot Twist who put himself on the ground… I picked him up once, and he put himself back on the ground. He wouldn't let anyone else pick him up, and I left him because if that's what he wanted to do then it was a waste of my time to try to stop him. He bled himself out.
Do the survivors you slug go AFK so they're not there to stop their teammates from picking them up? 'Cause if they're still around, you'd think they'd stop their teammates from picking them up.
I had a teammate do this exact thing once. Plot twisted as soon as the match started and refused to participate. I understand if someone gets frustrated on rare occasions, but he was trolling everyone. It was also a David I think. Was this not so long ago on Greenville Square?
As killer, I do what the OP mentioned in a lot of cases. The only way I'll try to let someone go next is if the match turned friendly somehow and we're all just farming. If someone wants to just go for their next match then, no problem. Their teammates are getting out, and we're all enjoying :D
I also give second chances sometimes if the match seems really oppressive for a particular survivor. Sometimes I'll carry someone to the hook and just drop them there so they can get picked up :)

Extreme bias and heated language aside, I think there's a fair point in there. If nothing but bots are hooked and one survivor is slugged, I don’t see the harm in bots trying to get off hook after a short delay to help speed up the endgame. Maybe a built-in timer to wait out perks like Unbreakable or potential rescues, and then they automatically start trying to unhook. (I also don't think bots should be able to actually get off the hook either like a true 4%) That way you can still mori before bleed-out.
I saw a bot do this in my most recent match. 2 Dcs and one of us remaining got sacrificed. I was the last standing and went to unhook a bot, then watched it try a self-unhook. I think it waited until it was close enough that the time to second stage was less than the self-unhook penalty, and then it went for it.

In addition to that cobbler, I'd say Clown could also use a few green flashlights.
-
I'm trying to envision this, but I'm not sure I have a picture clear in my head. Is the platform at the top of the rock slabs, like a wooden surface supported atop the rocks? And maybe the gen beneath the slabs? And are the pallets above or below the slabs?

It's boring. Like, 4 man slug level of boring.or face camp with noed+ deadlock back in 5he day
Obviously a healthy amount of pre running is necessary, but true efficiency is the most unfun thing to experience in dbd. Some killers think its the bully squads but those people simply have never seen the ninja squads.
Chasing scratch marks all game as a Tier 1 Nemesis against a bunch of Laras camping vaults, all refusing to do gens until a mate calls out they are in chase is probably the worst experience you can have as killer.
KKillers Like knight encourage that safe behavior and nobody likes him
That's interesting. I expect survivors to prerun against me, so I try to account for that in my approach. Most cases of prerunning I see (and that I do myself when I play survivor) are just to get to a reasonably strong position to loop from.
I guess I do get what you mean when it comes to survivors on comms calling out where the killer's going. It's obnoxious to find that 100% of chases start with faint scratch marks even against a high mobility or stealth killer, all while the rest of the team is pushing gens. But I still see those cases as opportunities to improve my larger scale mindgaming; like "what's the best way I can move so that my position isn't getting predicted well by my target and the survivor has less optimal prerunning options?"
-
The event was fun! The blood gens are a nice way to mix things up for survivors, and I had fun trying out new builds on killer to work around how perks that don't affect normal gens became kind of pointless.
Also had a few matches where survivors kept making blood cans for me to kick! And the bp bonuses were good :)

This killer normalizes looping the killer and not pre running. Sorry that he's slightly overtuned but somebody had to put a stop to pre running everything as a solution.
What's wrong with pre-running? Should survivors just wait for the killer to get right next to them before running away?

and I'm pretty sure his power is based off analog horror, with the trippy colors and and hallucinations, i think he is only partially based on the thing.
@Shroompy said:
Unless Im thinking of something completely different or if Im misremembering either his lore or The Thing... but the only thing I can think of that they share is them taking the form of their victims, but The Unknown twists and mutilates their bodies and doesnt even try to mimic who they once were, unlike The Thing which does try to conceal itself. The way it "mimics" peoples voices seems to be more of a way to induce fear. In the base lore, there was no reason for it to "call for help" and to have a party by flickering the lights. Its also said in the lore that anyone who tries to investigate it usually dissappear with no explanation.
My theory is that The Unknown is a physical manifestation of the unknown and its existence is purely because of the belief of its existence, similar to say Santa or the Boogeyman. Only difference is that The Unknown is real.
How this relates to the power is a bit of a stretch, but the way I see it has to do with Weakened. The Unknown isnt much of a threat to a Survivor who isnt Weakened, thus they have no reason to fear it. Once Weakened, the threat of The Unknown is very well present, and the more Survivors who are Weakened (or fear the unknown) the more presence it has, due to Hallucinations spawning more frequently. The only way to get rid of that fear, is to face the Unknown directly. Its also worth mentioning that Survivors who fail to do so (failing to dispel) also become engulfed with fear (Weakened)
as for the grenade launcher idfk lol
This sounds right. It seems to me that The Unknown is indeed trying to mimic one of the survivors; have you ever noticed how it looks like Dwight?
And as far as The Unknown being a manifestation of the unknown as a concept, that might agree somewhat with the tome lore. Mikaela's tome entries say something like that.
However, it's clear that at least one creature on the killer side of things is skilled enough to disguise itself as a normal human girl.

I'm not sure about this. When I was newer to the game, I put WoO on all the time. I felt like I couldn't function without it. And it did help me to understand better where pallets and windows were. But it also made me blind to the environment.
The first time I took that perk off my build, I realized I was much better at understanding what resources I could work with, instead of just running to the nearest yellow thing. I got a lot better at chase as a survivor once I stopped using WoO. Now that I have more experience, that same perk is useful in a new way, making it possible to loop more effectively, not getting as easily caught in a tough spot.
Though admittedly, I essentially never run Windows anymore, I do think it's useful. But it's also probably helpful for at least some people to not use it :)

Mainly because this aint really the place for it
I did finally go to the link the OP posted. Looks like they're trying to get a job at BHVR. I don't think the forum members can do much about that. And this definitely isn't the right place for a job application. The most we could maybe do is say "Those designs are awesome! I'd pay money for them!" and maybe add traction to that person getting contract work. Admittedly, those designs are actually pretty good, and I'd probably try to get one of them for Claudette.
But I do think this seems like the place to go if someone wants to talk about some issue they have with the game. Representation seems fine to discuss here, and we'd all be free to discuss our opinions about the need (or lack thereof) to have more representative stuff for some group(s). Imagine if there were a huge population of <insert any type of person here> players, but they largely felt like something was off with their representation in the game. BHVR might have a monetary incentive to be interested in that case.
But yeah, definitely not the place for a job application, but probably an alright place to talk about stuff people might want to see in the game (imo) :D
Edit: if I were BHVR and wanted to not have posts advertise a job applications, I'd maybe put an extra bullet-point in the forum rules list :)

I am not referring to the increase/decrease of the MMR, but rather to the skewing of the escape rate / kill rate of the various killers, because if a survivor surrenders the game might not be counted and a hypothetical 4k for the killer might become a draw.
I think when a player abandons a match, it's counted as a loss for them. Hopefully that's counted in their kill rate to ensure the numbers stay the same.
If that's the case, then I suspect the kill rates won't change much as a result of thos update. My thinking behind that is becayse any time the survivor abandons the match, they generally have very little chance to escape. They can still stay in the game to try for the escape if they want, so the survivor player experience is mostly improved with this since they get options now. But the overall kill rate should increase due to survivor disconnects by maybe a few percent at most (I think) because the survivors can usually only abandon in cases where everyone's slugged or hooked, or everyone else is a bot, etc.
Meanwhile, killer disconnects will help correct the kill rate back down. Killers can DC after no gen has been completed for 10 minutes, with the killer taking the loss (according to Mandy on a different post here iirc).
I suspect killer DCs are less common than survivor DCs, which should mean that they lead just to an overall suppression of the impact of the abandon match feature on overall kill rates. So I would guess that we'll see a very minimal change in the survival/sacrifice rate as a result of all this.

It was near pointless as a perk as it was - the dropping sound gives it away so saves are almost universally failed unless the killer is distracted. Just being able to look up to avoid it was always BS imo. I used to laugh when I'd get blinded whilst being carried but the killer wouldn't drop me. It's essentially become a meme perk now or a perk for those who want to bully the killer with head on - decisive - flashbang combos .
I suck at using the flashlight so using the flashbang used to be my only way to complete the 'stun or blind the killer 'x' times' challenges and it took me absolutely forever to do it.
Personally I think it should be easier to blind the killer with it, but the killer gets a base kit light born for 30 seconds following a successful blind so it can't be abused.
You can still use Blast Mine for those challenges :D

I'm not sure why this is getting so heavily downvoted and receiving so many complaints. I guess the language used in the post is... unusual, but it's a valid request to ask for hairstyles to accurately represent a character's culture. Imagine if Sable had a bouffant.
Someone mentioned that this isn't a priority, and that's totally fair. There may be much more urgent priorities. I guess if BHVR thinks there's bandwidth for this, and that there's a monetary incentive to make that kind of update, then as long as it doesn't disrupt critically needed updates, I don't see why this couldn't be done :D

Correct - they have an overhaul of the bloodpoint spending system in the works. I'll probably just instantly purchase the page without going through the whole animation or something.
It would be great if a system were added to have preferential targeting of specific items in a bloodweb page during automatic spending. Like maybe have the ability to 'favorite' a list of 5 or 10 items in order of preference, then if a particular item exists in a bloodweb page, preferentially target items in the favorites list in the order of preference.
The simplest form of that would just identify whichever item in a bloodweb page is highest in the favorites list, then target that item to the exclusion of others until it's obtained or taken by the entity. Then just go down the list until the page is empty. And if no favorited items exist, just spend as normal.
-
I think I remember that they're working on this as part of a future update. I'm sorry that I didn't read your whole post (it's late and I have limited mental bandwidth for now), but I think there are plans to improve bp spending :D

One reason not to implement in game voice chat is that a whole lot of people just don't want it. I sure don't want to be subjected to it. I'd rather escape 10% less than listen to randos squawking disjointed crap in my ear all game, every game. One of the reasons I play DBD is because it's an online game where I don't have to deal with that.
And before you say just to disable it, we all know that people would give each other hell, go next, and/or lobby dodge when they encountered others with it disabled.
Not to mention that there would almost certainly be compensatory buffs to killer if voice chat were made universal. And that voice comms between four total strangers likely wouldn't be nearly as effective as some might think. Especially if there are language barriers. SO how much would be gained, really?
Honestly, I think a few more upgrades to the survivor HUD and we'll be in pretty good shape. It won't be as good as voice comms with friends, but that option is obviously there via third party software if people are super hard up for it.
And on a totally personal note, I don't like the idea thematically. It's four survs dropped randomly in a trial, I doubt the entity would provide comms gear.
Agreed. However, as far as the thematic bit, imagine if there were Bluetooth earbuds in the bloodweb, or in chests! Ace would definitely equip some Bluetooth device… and then make people want to get rid of this feature…

that still exists, but dbd community is well known for hating that kind of players even with the sheer fact they scrim and play tournaments in custom lobbies away from other players. This is done mostly because matchmaking in dbd doesn't offer you real chance to improve and get matched with people of similar skill.
And despite all of that, big part of "casual" community still hates those players. Why? I know but i'll leave you to think about why.
Really? That's a real question: Can players in DbD can self-select into lobbies en-masse where we sort ourselves into skill tiers and choose based on who the known players are in our skill level so we can play appropriately matched games and avoid playing with people who do things we consider toxic? I don't think that exists for DbD. Maybe some players on the Discord do it?
I used to host lobbies in another game with the rules both sides agreed to listed in the lobby description. In DbD, I think we'd see lobbies saying "No bully squads, no tunneling at 4 or 5 gens, etc." And players would probably hit an equilibrium of match conditions that killers and survivors would accept, with different lobbies for different kinda of players. But maybe that wouldn't work in our community at all. Who knows?
Either way, I don't think that exists for any online gaming community I know about today. I used to play League, and you got matched into nonsense where someone was sure to get told to uninstall the game, potentially by their own teammates.

@Rokku_Rorru said:
I think its the backfill system, if a killer dodges you get filled with sweatlord comp dbd player mcgee who has been waiting in queue for an hour ( I exaggerate)
Something they direly need to fix is the pre match lobby is incredibly dated.I miss a time when online gaming was less toxic. There used to be large online competitive gaming communities where players would form their own lobbies and self-select who joined matches based on reputation.
Players who demonstrated they belonged in another skill-tier would be asked to join other lobbies, and booted if they refused. And while that sounds negative, it worked great. Players self-selected into something like nine skill tiers and refused to play with people who were overtly toxic. That led to more friendly gaming than we have in a lot of modern games where matchmaking is done for the players. And we practically never saw dramatic skill-mismatches.
I don't think that would work today though. People don't act like adults... even though we acted better when I was barely able to play games as a kid… Anyway, enough reminiscing... yes, backfilling with the wrong MMR is a problem :/

if lightborn is okay, then why isn't distortion that is permanent okay?
Whataboutism. Don't care.
Also calling LIghtborn a crutch. lol
Honestly, Lightborn is a crutch. I've only used it a very small number of times, and usually it just ends up occupying a perk slot better spent on something else. If I know a flashlight is in play, I'll be checking nearby corners, and I always angle myself for pickups in ways to avoid blinds if possible, or even try to fake pickups to coax people out. When several flashbang or flashlight saves happen, I get more paranoid about it.
But I don't remember the last time I got less than a 3k against a bully squad. I have to admit that I have put Lightborn on and pretended to not have it for a lot of the match before. That can be hilarious :D
But Lightborn is definitely not necessary for a 3k or 4k. Just slug squads that try to bully you and make sure they don't have expo somewhere. Although, I also will admit that matches with Lightborn against four flashlights are less annoying than they might otherwise be. So maybe it's not solely a crutch, it can also be a QoL choice.
Edit: Oh, I forgot to mention… infinite distortion would be insane. It can be buffed a little and I wouldn’t care, but infinite distortion would get played on every survivor all the time. If someone said infinite distortion should be a thing, I disagree.

I know a bee does not possess the ability to know what a wave means, but I also cannot explain the two times it reached out towards nothing, but in my general direction with its front right legs
I think a lot of creatures are likely capable of understanding that they have received help. Bees' brains are obviously a lot smaller and presumably less complex than ours, but they're able to percieve their environment, presumably feel hunger, pain, and likely some type of satisfaction from not being in those states. It's very likely that bees also experience fear, which is what tells their brain to get away from threats. I wouldn't doubt that it understood at some point that you helped it :D

What was implied with gen-splitting, is that it is by far the most effective way to gen-rush, since you split the progress to three simultaneous gens, while one survivor runs the killer around.
If done correctly, you could end up with a match that takes less than 3 minutes.
Hens and some other strong survivor players (I believe it was a part of Team Eternal) tried this as a speedrun tactic, in which they managed to get one survivor out in less than 2 minutes and 35 seconds.
In the video, watch from 22:37 to see the tactic on full display.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MtnZqgSJeiw
Bear in mind that this is not common at all, but still, some people on the forums has been complaining a lot about splitting gens is in fact becoming more common as a strategy used by survivors nowadays.
That's interesting. Splitting gens has been my default for quite some time. That way if the gen is targeted by the killer, only one survivor gets disrupted, while overall gen speed is also higher. I only break that rule at the start of a match to knock out a center gen. I just assumed most people would want to do that... although I've definitely abandoned a gen before because a teammate got on it with me, but with no teamwork perks.

Idk why I find it as funny as I do. The animation just makes me laugh. It’s like watching americas funniest home videos with bond or empathy sometimes.
AFHV would also have a whole part dedicated to killers falling into holes.

I'm excited for July. I don't tunnel or camp people except in egc. And it would be great if people didn't rely on poor game design to do well in their matches. That should allow BHVR to rebalance toward gameplay that's fun for both sides. I'll definitely be happy when survivor matches don't have someone proxy camp and tunnel and then pretend they did well when they play the rest of the match normally once they have a 3v1.

Well here's the thing. You see it as a skill issue while I see it as its the best play to do most of the time. Why go for someone across the map that has most likely all those resources available while they nine times out of ten has some sort of perk/medkit addon to extend the chase. It just doesnt make logical sense to spend the time looking for someone else that hasn't been hooked yet when someone is way closer to death and I can pressure more people at once.
If you want to work harder not smarter go for it. Just know that way of thinking will make your games exponentially faster as allowing 4 survivors to live is just a recipe for that to happen.Yeah, I kind of hope they try to nerf some of these things in the next health update and rebalance toward gameplay that's engaging and reasonable on both sides. But I do also worry that nerfs to certain playstyles will tilt SWF balance toward bully squads. Currently, I almost never do poorly against bully squads, though obviously a strong team that plays efficiently can give me a rough match.
But even if I 4k a bully squad, I feel like I need to relax after some of them because the matches can be so annoying. I don't want to see that playstyle inadvertently buffed. People talk about bm from the killer more than bm from survivors, and I tend to agree with a lot of those opinions. But ughhhhh... Sabo, flashy, locker hop, flashbang.
Anyway, I do understand where you're coming from. I just very much prefer to not intentionally take actions that will make my survivors have a bad experience, aside from just having all bad chases or something. I feel like any time we share a game with people, we owe it to other players not to intentionally give them an overly had time. But I know there are a variety of opinions on that topic :D

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3916052#Comment_3916052
Well there's multiple factors. You could hook someone between multiple gens and the only other people are looping either the strongest part of the map or a place with no gens to defend. Why leave the hook to go across the map in that situation?
I don't find either of those to be reasons to return to the hook. If a survivor is in a strong position when the unhook happens, I'll either look for the other survivor (if all four are left), or force them to abandon or burn their loop (e.g. burn shack pallet). Returning to the unhook seems like I would be saying "I'm not good enough to do well in the match if I don't return to the hook instead of engaging in my current chase."
When I play survivor, I'll run from the hook if someone unhooks me while there's no active chase. And when the killer breaks chase to go back to the hook, or literally hunts for the people who unhooked, I wonder why I even care about that match anymore. I still play it out for my teammates, but this kind of cheap play is why I don't like the survivor role so much anymore.
-
@Brimp said:
Because it's really boring to face people who hide for 60% of the game. Hiding has its place but old distortion was just enforced unhealthy gameplay. Like yes I would LIKE to go for the unhooker but they're off in narnia while the unhooked is running around in the middle of the map like a flash beacon.
Why would someone need to chase someone associated with an unhook? This should only be happening if only two survivors are left, or if someone unhooks before the killer has a chance to get away, or maybe in the egc. Playing survivor is very tedious when a killer runs back to the unhook area and looks around to find where the survivors are healing just because they haven't managed to find another survivor, or are in a chase they find too hard. I make it a point to never do this unless the unhook is done right behind me, there are only two survivors left, or we're in egc.

Hate my comment if you want, but yes, I have seen it mentioned several times on these forums.
Common complaints are the following as of late:- Gen-splitting (Killer-players)
- Tunneling (Survivor players)
- Slugging (Survivors)
- Humping (Survivors)
- Kaneki (Obviously survivors)
- Matchmaking (Both sides)
- SWF (Killers)
No hate involved. I just think that's a crazy thing for people to have complained about. I was trying to be playful :)
Also, I think I never saw that complaint before. I've seen lots of complaints about something called gen-rushing, but I think that should only be complained about if someone brings a Commodius, two charge add-ons, Stake Out, Hyperfocus, and Built to Last.
-
@THE_Crazy_Hyena said:
Regarding gen-splitting, since killers often complain about this. How about changing the individual generator repair time to 120 seconds (120 charges), and remove the teamwork debuff instead. This would also serve as an indirect nerf to BNP's, considering they take away 10 charges.
That way, gen-splitting would become less effective, and teamwork would be more necessary to complete generators faster.
However, with a change like this in place, generators would need to be spread much further apart, to prevent excessive 3-genning by killer players. What?!? Did someone actually complain about survivors splitting up on gens?
I would like to complain about how the killer is faster than survivors, and how the survivors I face only need to do five gens. Wouldn't, like... 15 gens be a better skill expression?
Edit: except Nurse. Nurse has a good speed ;)
-
These responses so far seem overly dismissive. It's not impossible that the OP is just posting bait, but it sounds a lot like they may not have as much experience as most of the forum users.
What @here2complain is describing sounds very much like the "new player" experience. Killer games at low-ish mmr are insanely easy. Survivors struggle to do more than hide or hold W in a lot of cases.
And I have to admit that by "new player", I mean someone with less than maybe 1000 hours in-game, or even someone who just doesn't watch and learn from other highly skilled players. Getting to a skill level where you can take advantage of checkpoints, loop into strong positions, fake vaults, and run killer specific counters takes a crazy amount of experience. Here I'm imagining players well below the mmr soft-cap, so I guess I'll refer to that regime here as "non-advanced" mmr to just have a terminology to use.
I don't want to assume I know how that experience has evolved over time, but I imagine that the way Kaneki is designed might be creating a very oppressive environment for the 'non-advanced' survivor regime. Nurse and Blight aren't so intuitive at first, so iirc, we see reasonably high usage of more M1-ish killers in that mmr range. If Kaneki is sufficiently easy to use, then that killer might be closing distance on 'non-advanced' players and landing hits in a way that's more oppressive than many of us might imagine. That would actually be really bad for DBD's future since it could discourage new players from continuing to play the game.
Or I could be totally wrong. Who knows? 🤷♂️

Are you just agreeing with yourself?
It is important not to have cognitive dissonance.

This sounds funny, and you did a great job with those perks! But I don't think there's any chance that BHVR will want to make perks so obviously themed around "certain substances".
Also, I'd be more likely to want to play as Jesse than as Heisenberg :)

Self Care.

I mentioned in an earlier post about survivors "going next" being an issue that became more prevalent after the introduction of MMR, since the losing streaks often end up being unbearably long.
That really kills your will to play out matches if you feel like things are going bad from the beginning.I have had a few matches of SoloQ lately where I had teammates who started actively trolling as soon as they got caught.
I've been lucky in the recent past with this. Every time I see a teammate starting to give up on hook and I get to the hook in time to stop it, I'll pause to shake my head at them before the unhook. So far in the last couple months, every time I've done that, I got that person out through a gate. Trying to show people they can survive if they stick it out :/

Most killers hate most second chance perks. But I don’t think any killer hates self care even though it’s very clearly a second chance perk.
They complain about the blatant ones. DH is personally very annoying to me to this day. I call it Crutch Hard because it literally can not be countered by me as a Huntress main. You can’t fake throw a hatchet. Robbing me of a down and a hook and huge pressure. It feels very cheap and unearned. It’s abysmally easy to press E when a hatchet is heading your way.
DS is absurd as well sometimes. I’ll down a completely separate survivor very quickly and rotate back to the unhooked survivor because I stumbled into them and I get punished for being good at chases and get punished for their mistake of running into me. (It should deactivate if I hook someone else imo)
But Mettle of Man is very clearly a second chance perk that I would never complain about because it is hard to get. And comes with a huge Aura reading downside.
It’s just a general thing to complain about. Not all second chance perks are annoying. Some are very much so.
I don't think there are any perks in the game that I'd call "second chance perks". Most of what people call second chance perks are just things that guard against actions that shouldn't be done most of the time anyway. Anti-tunnel perks can kind of be used to extend chases, but are mainly there to prevent tunneling for players who feel they need to spend a perk slot on that. If tunneling doesn't happen, then someone with OTR or DS needs to go try to use the perk, which could end up getting them another hook. Maybe UB could be called a second chance perk.
Something similar could be said for gen regression perks. I run Pain Res a lot, but people could tell me that it's just a second chance because I wasn't fast enough in chase. I made mistakes and now I'm getting free gen slowdown or even regression to make up for my failure in chase. But I think most people don't want to call slowdown perks "second chance perks".
Self-care is just a perk that lets a survivor heal; if we call that a second chance perk, then we should also say people have second chance medkits and second chance teammates. You're right that Dead Hard has some added effectiveness against hatchets throws, but certain perks are better against some killers than others. Like Hardened; almost never useful, but hilarious against a Doctor. Overall, I tend to agree with @jesterkind about the terminology here. Most of what some people call second chance perks are really more aptly referred to as insurance perks.

"The Google is a really strong killer"
The Google would be a great killer! The survivors can work with it to find anything, but it sends them down rabbit holes that slow down gens to a crawl while you read about, like... food in the 1600's or something. S-tier slowdown!

I always bring an item, but I did go itemless a lot in the Christmas event. Instead, I brought Pharmacy, Plunderer's, and a cobbler. Then I went around opening chests and giving everyone green medkits, including the killer :D

Hats off to you being able to play her in the event. I feel like this is the closest we've gotten to just seeing just a pure-chase oriented Amanda and it really shows just how much RBT is where her real power and identity come from.
Any specific perks you're using in your hit-and-run builds? Sloppy? Surge? STBFL? Rapid Brutality? Don't keep us in the dark now 😉
Yeah, I've been seeing a lot of people comlain about Pig and gen-oriented things in the event. I most recently ran Sloppy, Nurse's, Hysteria, Alien Instinct. The goal is to get some people injured and abuse Hysteria while people are healing.
I think I want to trade out Alien Instinct for a chase perk though. Suppressing exhaustion perks with hats is nice, but it doesn't close out chases against good loopers. So instead I just find myself using stealth to get quick first hits, and then running around like a maniac while Hysteria's active.

Agreed. A survivor should only be leaving a trial with this emblem if the game went fairly poorly for the killer. If several survivors reach two hook states, it's time to go take chase. The iri survival emblem seems kind of counter to the need for teamwork except in matches where the killer gets very few hooks. Not sure yet what I think would be a better condition for it, but I agree.

They're too busy playing Kaneki to even think about Amanda and I dont blame them after making her dog water in the event.
Besides that there's always a chill build like Brutal Strength/Enduring/Fire-up/Spirit Fury
That's probably true. I've been playing Pig during the event. Trying out some hit-and-run builds with Slow-release Toxin to remove exhaustion perks from being used in chases if the survivors don't get their hats off :D

I think the bigger point he was making is that there are a lot of issues on the killer side that are on the same level as BT was before it became basekit: Gen perks feel that necessary because of the speed of matches like this, and it feels as necessary at higher level as BT felt before it got made basekit.Gen perks are reliable, the other perks he picked are situational. This is an element on both sides of the game, some perks are incredibly strong if you get in the right situation.
In this match the survivors brought multiple anti-tunnel perks, probably because they felt they had to, and I don't think they got value out of any of them. Likewise he brought Superior Anatomy, but got a map without any key window vaults and only one of the survivors looked like they had a chase build. If either of those were different something like Superior Anatomy could have been really powerful.
He also got a fair bit of value out of Coup, if he had gen regression perks than that some of his chases last longer, potentially giving him an even worse outcome.
I couldn't even finish the video, but I made sure to watch the entire match to get why he felt the need to make the video, and his frustration is valid.I don't get what there is to be frustrated about or how this video in any way looks like evidence of a problem. He played well, they played well, it was a close match that swung on a couple of variables. That really feels like how you should want a game to play out which is why in reviewing it so many of his complaints sound like 'I want to stomp the survivors'.
I agree. This video doesn't quite illustrate obvious problems. We see mistakes getting made which could reasonably have altered the match considerably if they were played differently.

Counterplay to ghoul is to be cool
Like this Sable :DI love doing this. On that map, I'll sometimes carry survivors into that area and start playing with the circus stuff. If the survivors join in, it's a free escape.

That just m1 killer without ability, but even so survivors throw a bunch of minuses to your topic
This says a lot….
The downvotes there don't really say much. We don't have a way of knowing what the people doing the downvoting are thinking. They could disagree with what the OP is saying, they could just be annoyed at something and be prone to throwing some downvotes out, they could indeed be someone who played survivor against SM a lot and had bad memories of typical playstyles used with that killer. It's also possible that people who mainly play killer are downvoting for various reasons. Most of us also don't just play killer or survivor. So I think we can't say much about what 'survivors' are thinking. There are other possibilities as well. Downvotes tell us almost no useful information and don't serve much purpose on forums. They're kind of like a way to pretend to get information.
If someone posts a contrasting opinion, and then that specific critique response gets a lot of upvotes, that's more likely to tell us something about what people are thinking because that 'almost' acts like a way to have an explanation along with an upvote.

I feel like the comments so far haven't done a lot to address this. I don't play Onryo, so I'm not an expert about her, but I do know that one of the keys to countering her is picking up tapes when it's not too inconvenient. She can't teleport to a TV that's off, so a team that picks up a decent number of tapes can nerf her map control and the strength of her ability spamming. Then when the tapes are dropped off, your condemned drops so she can't mori you from her ability.
Using that approach, I don't remember the last time an Onryo moried me. However, she has a serious buff in Blood Moon matches. You can't do blood gens with a tape in your hands, and I've seen several Onryos use the addon that starts you with a tape in your hand. That keeps blood gens from getting done unless people build up condemned stacks more than normal.
