It says a lot about the OP that they think a mechanic introduced because people quit should reward the quitter.

I play survivor solo queue almost exclusively, and as quite an experienced player, and being truly objective, it is a very mixed bag.
One game can go well, everybody co-operating, all gens done, 4 escapes.
The next game can be everybody else is being knocked down, hiding in lockers, crouching around the map, no gens touched.
It is the pot luck of survivor queue.
Personally I do not care about my rank or pips, I am already prestige 100, so my aim is to just try and have fun isolated games. If it goes well, great. If the other plays are awful, let's say that I will not try my hardest to not die as quickly as possible, and I will move onto the next game.
-
I only play survivor and I play a lot and quite honestly, I hardly ever see 4k slugging. I think I might have seen it twice, so for me it is not that much of an issue.
And one of the only times I did experience it, the second to last player died and I had about 5-10 seconds of life left, and the hatch spawned basically underneath me and I escaped. That was so satisfying that I'd go through a thousand 4k slugs just to see that killer's reaction again.
-
A few ideas:
- Most game crashes are probably not internet related. Keep an eye on your router when you are playing to see if it is disconnecting when the game crashes, if not, it isn't the problem.
- See if your drivers need updating.
- If you are using NVIDIA, see if there is an update available. My DBD gets a bit tetchy when I haven't installed the latest graphics driver update.
- If the game is installed on an external drive, try moving it to your internal drive.
- If it is installed on internal, make sure your storage capacity isn't maxed out. Free up some space if so.
- Make sure you are using the optimal settings for your CPU/graphics card, i.e don't run at Ultra if your computer can't handle it.

yeah right, this is the first time i've seen a game that has a deduction even when you played properly, other games don't have penalty even if you finish the game early or not.
It depends on your definition of "properly". Completing the generators is ONE objective. The game is scoring you on multiple objectives. If you complete gens and do not: heal, unhook, give chase, escape chases, provide distractions, provide protecion hits, torch save, pallet save, cleans totems, and many more, then you are not playing the game "properly", and you will earn pips or lose pips accordingly. I play survivor, and even when the killer is afk, I know that I need to touch on all elements of the game to make sure that I do not de-pip.
-
I'm prestige 100 and out of the hundreds and hundreds of games I've played this year I think three people have mentioned it, and I think two of those were compliments.
You shouldn't care what other people think about you, ESPECIALLY strangers on the internet. ESPECIALLY strangers on the internet that go out of their way to try and make other people feel bad. They are just lonely and insecure, and probably get bullied irl and need to pass it on in whatever way they can. Report them and move on.
-
The only surprising thing is that you thought all debate would have ended after 10 months. Come back in 10 years and survivors will still be wanting the game pulling in one direction, and killers in the other. It is just the nature of a game with two very distinct sides.
-
Ugliest map in the game, it looks like a background from The Wild Thorberries.
-
Now you know how they work at least you can avoid de-pipping in the future. Do not do all the gens then leave the map immediately. Unhook, heal, give chase, escape chases, totems, chests, take a hit, distraction, all of the other things you can do do earn points in the other scoring categories which results in gaining pips, instead of doing all the gens quickly and leaving the map. (And I play survivor only, despite this sounding like a killer rant)
-
The time it takes to slug 4 people, and the effort to make a post about it... for one up-vote
-
I think they like to make the challenges as varied as possible to keep them interesting, having each challenge available to complete as a killer and survivor limits that.
Also, I imagine the devs are happier when people play both survivor and killer, encouraging people to play more/spend more. If completing all challenges was important to a survivor main, they wouldn't have to play killer at all to achieve that, if they did what you suggest.
-
Some killers go easy if you give them an item, some killers feel bad and let one person go, some killers are already top rank and don't need the pip, some killers might think the final survivor played a good game and rewards them.
If you don't want to give hatch or accept hatch, don't. You do you.
-
Let's be honest, if you hated DH and were convinced it was what was making you lose, and now you are suddenly winning more, you are of course going to say that is proof it was DH, when actually you are probably ignoring lots of other possible reasons.
One is that there is a big update coming, which is attracting new people, and the more teams that are made up of newer and more inexperienced players, the easier job the killer is going to have, regardless of DH.
-
I thought this was going to be a screenshot of your survivor stuck on a hay bale on a Coldwind Farm map.
It's actually you on an actual hay bale, neat.
-
Basically because there are some very immature people who play online games who cannot stand losing and who have no sportsmanship.
I feel like I am doing my part, when a toxic killer slugs a whole team, by letting them have their little moment saying "EZ". If those kind of people don't get their little victories they will probably shoot up a school one day.
-
Why do you choose to run towards the gens that are locked? If you'd ran to the one they were on you would have stopped them.
-
Why bother discussing it? People have been discussing it for years and everybody's position on the topic remains the same. Killers who tunnel and camp see no issue with it, survivors who get tunneled and camped don't like it. The end.
-
Looks like killers are making the most of face camping before it ends based on my games today. Bring on the update and let them learn a new skill. (or any skill in some cases)
-
For casuals you might expect to see a lot of missed skill checks, meaning more locked generators for all survivors early in the game, casual or not, opening the door for killers to move on other gens. In terms of larger impact, if casuals are often missing the skill checks, they might stop playing the add-on entirely, meaning less BNPs in games overall.
For less casual survivors there is still the added pressure of missing skill checks that might affect them. I miss skill checks and play more than casual.
As I said, survivors will want no change, killers will want more change!
-
If the game is going badly I will usually try and unhook, if I die after that I am not really bothered. I would rather de-pip and get into the next game. The 3 chances of escape on first hook are there for me to use after all. I'll also use it if there is one other survivor left who might be able to escape through the hatch.
-
I still see lots of Davids. This is probably just a rhetorical thread by somebody who doesn't like the LGBT aspect of David, to get people to ask them about their views, which nobody really cares about, which is why they had to make the thread themselves in the first place.

No because if they were they would not keep adjusting, reworking, nerfing, buffing things all the time. They try and things get better and other things get worse.
When they add a new killer, new survivor, new map, then they need to adjust every existing element of the game to keep things balanced. Not to mention trying to keep two sides of a player base happy that constantly complain that the other side has it easier. Must be hard work, but I imagine they are generally happy.
-
The amount of times a killer has missed a basic attack, but quickly spun around, and as their weapon is basically by their knees it connects with the back of my shoe and THAT counts as a hit - then you can put up with the reverse from survivors.

Keys are not pointless.....they are a big "HEY KILLER TARGET ME FIRST" even with the key changes Killers target Key users first.
Topic was what items are good for survivors...
-
Keys are pointless. Toolkboxes, medkits and torches are all very useful in the right situation.
-
I escaped the hatch once after the rest of my team had died. In the post-game chat the Killer challenged me to a 1v1. I think he should have been banned for showing how little understanding he had of how this game works.

So how is the math then?
We know it takes 16 charges to heal one health state, and self heal gives 33% efficiency debuff, making it 24 charges.
16 / (1 - 0.33) => 16 / 0.67 => 23.88
So using this formula, when adding Botany with 20% efficiency debuff, I thought it should be this:
16 / (1 - (0.33 + 0.2)) => 16 / 0.47 => 34.04
Of course that woul be additive. If it's multiplikative, like @thrawn3054 wrote, it should be this:
16 / ((1- 0.33) * (1 - 0.2)) => 16 / (0.67 * 0.8) => 16 / 0,536 => 29,85
So it's indeed 30 charges, and bandages should be enough. Good to know ^^
Ty for working it out, it is a shame using botany means a basic medkit with no add ons is not enough to heal yourself.
I always take a flashlight so the medkits I use are ones found in chests.
Quite a specific situation but it has happened a few times to me - using botany, in the endgame, I am injured, need to go back into the map to unhook, and I can't heal myself (as a found medkit will run out of charges)
Be nice if they reduce the botany penalty so any medkit without add-ons can be used to self heal without running out of charges.
I have since stopped using botany, which is a shame because I love perks that are "always usable" without needing to do any cleansing, unhooking etc. first.
Ideally they would trade the 33% penaltty for a time penalty and I can go back to using it.
-
@CaulDrohn said:
I've got to add, if you were running Botany Knowledge, you also get a debuff to medkit healing, so the charges won't be enough.
If all that was not the case, and the medkit still did not last longe enough, it was a bug.
Ofc, thanks, I am playing that - forgot about the medkit penalty. So I will stop playing that and play self-care - just incase I am on my own and need healing. Sort of goes against what the update was meant to encourage, but I need to self heal sometimes! Ty for the answers.
-
Hmm I am not missing skill checks for sure, I will check what killer perks are on next time ty. It has happened a few times now though, unless they are all playing it. I will check.
If it is overwhelming presence, that means survivors can never heal themselves one full state with a medkit if that perk is on. That's not good lol.
-
I get this too

Actual qol would probably be things like:
* Hiding prestige levels in the lobby, only showing then at the end game screen.
* Allowing you to choose which prestige level to display (if you like a certain border)
* Toggle option to disable aim assist for killer
* Choose a certain lobby background, so you always see one from a previous chapter (or a random one) unless there's a new chapter or event to show off a new one
* Perk. Search. Bar.
* Built in perk randomizer, or a '4th' loadout slot that you can't modify that auto fills with random perks once you get in game
* FoV slider to replace shadowborn. I understand why this isn't strictly 'QoL' but I see this as more of an 'accessibility' feature tbh. Motion sickness is a thing.
I would not like my 4th perk chosen for me at random, but "Random Perks" as a separate game mode sounds fun. Sort of like "Mystery Heroes" in Overwatch.
My ideas:
- See what perks and items the other Survivors are playing. I have played numerous games where multiple people are playing Boon: Circle of Healing or Prove Thyself. Some perks you only really need one Survivor to play. This would also bring solo queue a bit closer to SWF as you could co-ordinate a bit in the pre-game lobby.
- "Play Again?" option in the end-game lobby. Sometimes I have good games with other Survivors in solo queue so it would be neat to be able to party up for the next game. We all know solo Survivor queues can be hit and miss (to put it mildly) so when you find a solid team, you don't want to leave them after one game!
- Sell unwanted items. I have hundreds (it might even be thousands) of items I know I will never use, let me trade them back in for bloodpoints, even if you only give me 50% of the value back.
- End of game awards. So I can reward another survivor by voting them as "Great Team Player", "Loop Legend" or "Gen Master" etc. and I can vote killer as "Worthy Opponent" and maybe these come with badges that everybody else can see.
-
Those perks are really well thought through. Increasing the pallet stun duration is a really cool idea.
I'd love to see a boon perk that affects generator repair time. Something like any generator in the vicinity of the boon, normal skill checks count as great skill checks. The effect lasts for 60 seconds after leaving the boon area.
-
Oh this is cool, I never saw this post when it was made, I can't even remember if I was on the forum back then. I'm from Manchester, and it has never clicked that "Dead Hard" is meant to be the same phrase we say in Manchester. Probably because when we say it we pronounce it "Ded 'ard"
Cool!
In regards to any comments asking for the post to be un-pinned: my advice, from somebody who was very defensive of my opinions and quite close-minded when I was younger, take some time to really think about why you want the post un-pinned, what is it about this post that you don't want people to see. Be open and honest with yourself, and then decide whether it is worth spending your time and energy in pursuit of those motivations.
-
This is really frustrating, it works fine if I am saving somebody being carried, but my torch does NOT work after a pallet is broken. I thought it was an update but is it a glitch?

How do people keep getting that.. ######### I'll take a free win
It's not beneficial though, with no chases, no unhooking, no healing etc. at best you can get 0 pip, sometimes it is -1.

That's very clearly not related to suicide though.
That's lynching. Something that's still abhorrent, but not at all related to self-harm.
That is not lynching, it is a public execution in the wild west, he is on gallows.
If they removed the offering, it seems odd to leave this person hanging in the game.

Well, no. It isn't lynching either, it is an execution, hence the gallows.
My point is, if the image of a noose has possible connotations to hanging by suicide, then an image of a man being hung to death by a noose, can share those connotations. So if they have removed one, it seems odd to leave the other (one which I consider much more graphic)
-
I don't get why they changed the noose offering but there's a guy hanging dead from a noose here - mixed messages.

Agreed, we've all paid for this game and it's unplayable for a full week because the entire team is off. It's odd they don't have a contingency plan for stuff like this.
It's such a bad way to manage the office: take a week or two off and cross your fingers nothing happens while it is shut.
At least, at the very least, have one person check on things once a day to catch any technical issues.
-
@Mandy said:
Hi, thanks for raising this.
This is something that has been brought to the teams attention earlier today, unfortunately the office is currently closed for the vacation period, however as soon as more information is known we won't hesitate to let you know.
Closing the office and hoping no problems occur until everybody comes back from Christmas break is such a bad idea.

Keep the profanity filter how it is. It is a refreshing change to play a game where I don't get called a r*t*rd or get told to kill myself.

Take a deep breath. Relax.
Camping and tunneling are strategies that have inherent counters built into them. If a killer is camping or tunneling, that means they are not pressuring gens or other survivors, who can punish the killer by getting gens done in the meantime. There are also perks meant to help with this, such as Deliverance, Off the Record, and so on.
Several survivor perks were nerfed because they were unhealthy design and could be used in situations they were not meant to be used in.
Nurse has already been nerfed several years ago as part of a mini-rework, and the reason she hasn’t been changed since is because her basekit is perfectly fine. Most players just do not know how to play versus her correctly.
I thought of telling you to take a deep breath and relax in that other thread, but it felt condescending, so I didn't.

"If you queued up, you should be forced to play out the game. Simple as that. If that upsets you, don’t play multiplayer games. The other 4 people in the lobby deserve better than someone selfish"
"them ragequitting because they’re too childish and entitled to handle a game that isn’t the way they want ruins it for all 4 other players."
But I'll say it now, take a deep breath. Relax.
This OP hates campers, you hate people who suicide on the hook. You're both entitled to rant.
