There are two things that must be done:
1: Give more incentive for killers in general to leave the hook. This can come from perk design, light discouragements (IE, bloodpoint loss, aura reveal, survivors repairing faster) for lingering near the hook with no other survivors around, and from buffing chase mechanics; two of those are being doubled down on in the next patch, so we'll see how well that works out.
2: Nerf specific powers. I see people say all powers should be disabled within a certain radius, but that misses the point- most killers can be played around even if they're facecamping, and so disabling all powers just punishes people who camp at the endgame or who have reason to be in that area. Rather, they should be looking at the killers who facecamp most effectively and tweaking them instead. The biggest offender is Bubba, and I believe his chainsaw should stop dead when it hits Endurance so he can only force a trade instead of downing both the unhooked and the unhooker.
To a degree, camping is always going to exist. What the devs can and should do is give survivors tools to deal with it, not try and prevent killers from ever doing it to begin with; by and large countering facecamping against, say, a Trapper with no relevant perks and no traps in the vicinity isn't that hard. It's a problem when specific mechanics interact with it, and when survivors don't know that they're facing it straight away, so that's where we need to look to fix it.
If survivors have good tools and information to tackle camping, the absolute amount of camping killers will go down and the remaining ones won't be nearly as frustrating.
"I believe his chainsaw should stop dead when it hits Endurance so he can only force a trade instead of downing both the unhooked and the unhooker."
It's a bad fix unhooker don't have endurance, if he's smart he just going to hit unhooker before unhooked. The only way is to do like Artist and Dredge restrict his power near hooks

Suffice to say, but good killer players will not stomp good solo q teams.
only meh one.
Yeah if you're playing one of the obsolete killer you're not going to win against a good team, but they're buffing everyone instead of bad killers, if I play blight or spirit with meta builds I win most matches and I don't even main them, just saying some killers don't need these buffs and others do it's a bit lazy to buff everything
-
People asked a million times for kindred basekit it's not much compared to what killers get next update.
let's be honest good killer mains already stomp most solo Q teams easily, with 90 seconds generators + all these other basekit buffs they're going to win 90% of the time against solos without even trying, how is this fun ?
-
No other game like this, for me the only other fun 4v1 game was Evolve and it died quickly. I'm "worried" about next update tho I already struggle as survivor
-
I like his pallet traps it's just funny when they fall for it. But in term of strenght is probably the worst killer in the game, trapper/pig/myers/sadako are all more dangerous than him imo

Its the threat you are trying to avoid that makes up the core of the game.
Whether you find it fun or not really is kinda irrelevant to your opponent, its a harsh pill to swallow but its the truth. You aren't responsible for anyone else's fun just as they aren't responsible for yours.
Saying "I don't think this is fun" is different from saying "no one should think this is fun". Your opponent is under no obligation to make the game fun for you, you have to do that for yourself.
Most strats in this game require little to no skill its very RNG based. "skill" in DBD is often random chance + ego. "braindead strats" require "brain dead" survivors to fall for them and they do it in droves so it works.
Camping and tunneling often payoff more than chasing and spreading damage and until that changes its going to remain a key strat in DBD. This is also not really objectively about gameplay because your OP is very personal.
"Why, why is necesery every single surv on hook and tunnel?? ######### is wrong with you, people?? Did someone hurt you in real life that you spread your trash all over the people in game??? I haven't playing DBD for 2 months and guess what???"
Are you attacking the game mechanics or attacking other players because of what's possible in game. These are also two different things.
Yeah but I had facecamp bubba with deadlock-corrupt in mind when I wrote this, it's objectively not fun because you can't counter it, even facecamp with an M1 killer is kinda hard to counter if your team isn't coordinated, but yes ultimately it's not the player fault it's the game.
Atm tunneling/camping is mandatory against a good team do you really think it's healthy for the game ? It could be designed differently, players with 1000+ hours probably don't care much about getting tunnelled but what about new players ? it's still a game dude it's meant to be fun, getting facecamped to death on your first hook don't really need to be a thing
-
Does shadowborn help with this ? I don't feel like playing multiple games with the perk until someone is 360ing but this might help

I'm not immune from Insidious Bubba, haha
He's pretty cute, though :)
He camped out P1, we slammed gens, he chased me for 2 min, then I waved my arms for the other 2 to dip.
It was still a fun/funny game, though.
Ok I should probably just play killer I'm easily frustrated in solo q, what do you guys think of some form of kindred basekit ? I would love to see that change honestly it's not much compared to all killers buffs

Also not that good but my experience is not even close to what people describe here. I am not tunneled and camped every single game like people claim and my teammates are not more useless than me.
When I play killer it is not 4 minute 0k every game either. And I play m1s a lot, although I let some people go often so that might impact my mmr but still.
I am aware that this game is imbalanced for both sides and anything can happen but the reality is totally different for me than what people describe. I also don't really care much whatever other players do. I comment on it but I am not prone to being impulsive and throwing tantrums about players in the game. I even laugh it off sometimes if I am killed really fast or barely got a hook as killer.
I think people are driven by negative emotions and it shows during/after anything "competitive". That is why I don't believe them. They will exxagerate and they also have terrible mindset. Being chill is way better, win or lose who cares.
I also played surv with @TheShapesMixtape two times, no comms. If someone think I am lying or lucky how come that dude has the similar experience at least as surv?
You are not dying or being camped/tunneled every damn game and you are not getting 0k either. But whatever go on. I already understand what they are all doing.
Honestly I 100% agree with people crying about solo Q, maybe I'm better at killer than survivor, maybe I'm not as good as I think Idk but solo q is painful I'm not having a good time at all.
I just wish I could enjoy both sides and with the killer buffs soon I feel like kindred basekit is not too much to ask for us solo players, I mean I only play solo and I probably escape 3/10 games on average, and because of it I'm not even enjoying when I stomp bad teams as killer because I know how it feels, it doesn't feel like a balanced game every match is a mismatch
-
matchmaking is broken even as killer, if I'm grade iri 1 and have 600hours in game I shouldn't play constantly against beginners, I hit people and they run in circle in front of me not gaining any distance, they can't even hold W then I realise I play with these people in solo Q it's a bit sad

I think the point is that its nothing to get so pissed off about.
Its an elimination game you will be eliminated early sometimes.
If you got found and hard tunnelled out for 4 games in a row I'd say practice not being found first, that's how I avoid being the player who's potentially eliminated.
Its just gameplay, expecting someone to play by an arbitrary set of rules purely for your enjoyment is ridiculous.
Yes its definitely not necessary to hard tunnel to win games, but it is allowed if you choose to do it.
What's BS to expecting other people to play how you want them to and getting upset when they don't. Children do that.
"it's an elimination game" doesn't mean anything it's about fun gameplay, majority of killers are campy now the current meta IS tunneling and camping the first survivor, it's just way too easy and effective for a braindead strat, zero skill needed.
Endgame camping when you can't do anything else is fine but what you see very often is hardcamping early when they're already winning and don't have to, early camp should be nerfed heavily, with all these anti tunnel perks like OTR they ackowledge that tunneling is the opposite of fun but still nothing against camping
-
That's why bbq chili is such a good perk it's one of the only reason to leave the hook in current game. I notice a lot of players don't really care about fun they just want easy kills and camping is the way, zero skill needed and they're happy to ruin someone's game. "Just play killer" i guess until they find a way to make the game fun
-
Hmm yeah except Blight tbh he should be 4,4 ms with hag and spirit, he travel maps in 5 seconds I don't see why he's 4.6 ms
-
@Chocolate_Cosmos said:
I am sorry but don't blame killers for not playing fair and trying to win the game.
Play fair? Get tbagged at gates and called "ezi".
Not playing fair? Get tbagged (if someone survives) and called "idiot camper / tunneler" but in this case the killer gets something out of it.
Welcome to DbD community.
Are you really crying because someone is crouching in front of you ? Facecamp/tunneling can often totally prevent someone from playing the game, t bag and flashlights doesn't do anything to you unless you're fragile, you still get to play the game
I play both sides I'm trying to be unbiased but I don't understand people acting like someone spamming crouching is the worst thing they ever endured in their life, some killer mains should definitely try to play the other side from time to time
-

You know what's funny? Despite those changes, blood lust is still going to be a thing lol.
it's a joke even the worst killer players deserve free kills if they can hold W and left click apparently, then people complain about survivors holding W

I had long killer queues few days after event, but today and yesterday they got fast again. We ll see tomorrow but Im pretty sure they are going back to normal, at least for me
my killer queues are still 5 minutes+ and survivor instant at any time of the day, region EU west
I mean it's cool to buff killers but you still need survivors to kill, they should probably listen what all solo Q players tell them
-
It's already not worth it to go for a save you need coordination it's kinda hard in solo Q, a good killer will down someone else it's an hook trade at best or will slug everyone if you really fail, most of the times people go open door and let you die it's just easier, only reason to save is probably WGLF stacks it's not DS

I already said that face camping is a trash method of playing. Proxy camping and face camping are not the same. Face camping is used by people that either are new to the game or generally lacking in skill. I used to play a lot of bubba a couple months ago and even against swfs i didnt face camp.
No it's not new players or lacking in skill high rank is full of hook campers, anyone with half a brain can reach high rank by camping and playing bubba/using NOED.
"Smart" ones also use corrupt-deadlock and everything else they can to slow you down, facecamp bubba is gamebreaking you can make sure someone die on his first hook with no counter

I really wouldn't be surprised if some survivor players have actually already stopped playing the game due to survivors getting so little baseline buffs against camping and tunneling in the upcoming update. Not to mention the update actually buffing camping.
This I don't feel like playing solo surv anymore it's not worth it , another problem is BP farming it's much more consistent playing killer with BBQ it's not even close, until they give a bonus 50-100% BP for solo survivors killer queues will always be long
-
@CluelessWanderer said:
Solo Q is about to become way more miserable somehow. Devs really outdid themselves. Didn't think it was possible. They already changed the the hatch and keys making them utterly useless/impossible. I now have something like 77 "Ultra rare Pink keys" just on Bill alone. All the new Killers are high mobility or teleporting. Getting out as a last survivor is just about impossible.
I just cringe at the thought of loading into a match against Legion with the buffed thanatophobia. Those matches are already brutally long and irritating. Or the thought of a Claudette self-caring for 100 years in a corner while someone goes to struggle on the hook.
Hook suicides and d/c's are already a way of life in Solo Q, and I can only see that getting worse. God help us all lol.
True I play both sides 50-50 and I don't understand why solo Q need multiple nerfs, I mean yes some M1 killers have no chance against strong squads but most games against average teams are already killer sided, it's fun to play killer and I can't say the same about solo Q, really don't know what they're doing with this update

I think they are cool from a casual standpoint because they let you get sent to a realm of your choosing but beyond that they just make for unfun gameplay on the other side. IMO i think they should be a lot more limited. Maybe you only get a certain amount if you buy the DLC pack, or maybe they are only available in the bloodweb at certain times. IDK.
or just make them do the opposite of what they're doing now, make sure you don't play on one map, it's a lot healthier than current offerings every squads just spam coldwind and ormond
-
@Exxodus21 said:
IMO they aren't healthy. The last 2 weeks when everyone was using flans instead of maps it was great! Now we're back to regularly being sent to Coldwind and Mount Ormond. It's boring.
Exactly I'm still using flans as killer but I'm tired of playing these 2 maps, it should be random everytime it's a lot more fun

@AGM said:
They reduced the grind for perks but mandatory prestige makes getting rarer add-ons harder, especially after removing the bloodpoint bonuses from WGLF and BBQ.
Instead of some meta perks being slightly nerfed and some crappy perks being brought up to their new level for a healthy, diverse meta... they hyper-nerfed some meta perks into oblivion but then also hyper-buffed other perks that fill the nerfed perks' niches, so now their stats will show "Yay we did it they're using other perks!" when it's really just a change in name only. Gen regression is dead; Long live gen regression!
And... that's about it.
Gens take longer, which makes camping more effective as the hook stage timer wasn't lengthened to compensate; camping + Deadlock + NOED is practically a guaranteed 2k. Base BT makes tunneling slightly harder, but the DS nerf made it useless so now everyone is just going to run OTR, so you may as well just smack the person off the hook anyway so that they don't come back later to body block hits.
All in all, I'm pretty disappointed. I liked some parts of the old meta that just needed to be SLIGHTLY nerfed. Instead they took a sledgehammer to old meta perks just to make sure nobody ever uses them again.
TL;DR: Camping: More effective. Tunneling: Less effective? Killer Meta: Regression is still king, just Overcharge/Eruption/Pain Res instead of Ruin/Pop/Pain Res. Survivor Meta: I heard you liked Endurance?
You're right buffing camping is probably the most disappointing thing in this update, facecamp bubba with deadlock can secure 2k easily on PTB, sometimes 3-4 depending on circumstances and still nothing you can do about it, if I was the devs I would consider this gamebreaking honestly it's DbD at its worst
-
Not a fan, my killer builds will pretty much stay the same but my survivor builds are gone, instead of buffing bad perks so we have more choice and variety they're doing the opposite by killing good perks like self care, DS and iron will, obviously everyone will run OTR perk variety will get worse
-
Imagine if items were free and everyone was forced to bring one, would make solo Q better honestly, current system is bad very often its 4 naked players VS iri add ons.
It's the same reason players don't bring flan everything reward killers massively, you bring an offering and you always play against some BS like starstruck nurse who try her hardest to early slug everyone
-

The Kill Rates don't mean anything without numbers or an actual average amount of kills per match. That would mean something but the difference between 55% and 52% is uhh............ Literally nothing?
It means something if pinhead is at 59% and nurse 49, both trapper and pig have high kill rates simply because they're 4,6ms and their gameplay is straightforward, pinhead is higher because he has an oppressive passive that don't require any skill from the player, these stats definitely means something
-
In latest kill rates stats from january Pig and Trapper were top 10 it was shocking, Pig traps with good RNG are very strong you waste an insane amount of time to remove it, Wraith doesn't feel weak either he can travel map at 6ms with no terror radius, I hate playing Clown tho just way too much reloading time even with add ons it's still annoying
-
Anyone has trouble with her Fov? She's too small on certain loops you can't see anything, when you play something like nemesis you can see a lot more but maybe that's just me
-
Lol yeah it doesn't change anything I use corrupt+deadlock +anything on every killer and I will still use the same build it's just gonna be even stronger, for survivor this update sucks the DS nerf is really sad it's basically a dead perk now, the only useful perk against tunneling... and I doubt OTR goes live anyway
-
Lol ? I doubt complaints will ever stop until the problematic add ons are nerfed, base nurse is ok
-
Yes it's almost like they're balancing the game around SWF, they will be less affected by all these nerfs and killers will stomp average solo teams even harder, they choose the lazy way to increase kill rates

I can agree with billy considering his power is so janky and god awful to use. But blight is absolutely the hardest. Hell the only reason i've seen so far as to why he's up there in killer tiers is because of literal techs that are harder to do than anything any other killer has. Without those techs blight is easy af to stop and it's hard to manage rushes in between loops against good players. Hard enough to where they can easily just turn you into an M1 killer.
I'd say he's top 5 or 10 in difficulty but I struggle more with pyramid head, twins, billy, deathslinger... he's definitely not the hardest for me.
And considering how fast he can travel maps, even if you change his base mov speed to 4,4ms he's probably still top tier, 4,6 doesn't make sense for him
-
You're exaggerating a bit wallhack perks are sometimes broken on nurse but otherwise it's ok duration is always short.
I agree about solo survivor not being fun sometimes I don't think all these PTB buffs should go live, remove dead hard and it's really not that hard to down someone at 4.6ms+ bloodlust, buffing killers too much is a mistake imo
-
Easy fix is to let it at 5 seconds, arguably even the endgame nerf is unnecessary, it's strong but perks like noed exist, someone explain to me why a free kill using M1 and facecamping is better than a free escape ?
-
Honestly I think nerfing dead hard to oblivion was the only thing needed, not overbuffing killers with basekit buffs and longer gens, they're changing too many things
-

Survivors should not get a borderline free escape during the endgame, simple.
But free kills with NOED + facecamp are ok ? Doesn't require any skill either it's even worse, DS is overnerfed if you played badly before EGC maybe you don't deserve any kill at all, stop cry and go next
-

Yeah sure make penalties harsh and remove hook suicide but do nothing about facecamp, being facecamped or on ground bleeding for several minutes doing nothing is peak gameplay, if anything they should let us suicide on ground too, it needs to be fun for both sides or people will go play something else you know

This isn't a true statement. He never finished the 50 win streak on every killer challenge because he couldn't do it, and he admits the only reason he got any 50 win streaks was due to poor matchmaking pre SBMM. He completed one after it's release, but it was during the time SBMM was turned off and he admits that as well.
His most recent streak challenge he failed to complete for several weeks, often losing it in the first few matches.
He doesn't often play survivor with the goal of escaping. He enjoys making fun plays and trying to help others survive more. He's done some escape streaks and he's preparing for another one now.
Try to know what you're talking about before you speak of others.
yeah sure thing dude, your statement is false the only reason he got any winstreak is actually hard camp and tunneling, always some drama in his chat when he's "forced" to do it

Funny you say that since otz usually comes from a mindset of balance. In today's stream, he also said Than and overcharge are too much also and will hurt new players a lot. He may be a killer main but he wants the game to be balanced for both sides.
Really ? When I watch him he always gets 3-4k every game while simultaneously crying about the game, he made win streaks on every killer like "50 wins in a row" but oddly enough he can't escape 5 solo Q games in a row, I don't know weird vibes from these killer mains
-
I agree improving solo Q should have been the priority, they did the opposite by buffing every killers, and with longer gens camping is more effective
The 5 seconds BT doesn't change anything and they will probably nerf OTR to oblivion before it goes live, I'm a bit sad
-

I want to see the number of hooks/kills before last gen pops for noed and non noed users. I'm so bored of the noed games. Killer gets 0-2 hooks before endgame, you know they have noed. They don't know how to mindgame or basically do anything. You know they have noed because they just run into every pallet and vault every window. Then noed pops and they get 1-2 kills pending on how hard it is to find noed. Fun games.
lmao it's true tho generally you can recognize noed users they get 1-2 hooks max before EGC

Considering its upcoming nerfs, the skill check should be removed nor should it work once.
Being nerfed to a 3-second stun (why?) and being unavailable endgame (I can understand this) should at least give DS fair QOL in return.
The skill check is outdated. It's probably my bias as a console player since the skill-check is not consistent with us. Frames are jittery and I might as well replace DS with the new Off The Record.
The 3-second stun is SO questionable and since DS won't trigger late-game, why can't it trigger after both unhooks now?
I agree with the skillcheck it's not needed for a 3 seconds stun, it's only 1 more second than a pallet stun if I'm not mistaken it's really weak. But it should probably only work once, 2 times might be OP if you stack it with OTR ?

To be fair I think it's a bad idea to buff cooldown on basic attacks and reduce survivor's speed boost, it's already fine the maps are the main issue, and honestly I don't want to be rude but console killers probably ruin the stats, good killer mains on pc are already hard to beat

Making tunneling worse doesn't suddenly make going for other people good. All you do is kill the only viable strat killers have.
I don't really care tbh I think it's healthy for the game to give strong counters against tunneling, I avoid it as much as possible unless I play against a super toxic teabagger or something, I play killers that can teleport like dredge just to leave the hook quickly, some perks even synergize with that playstyle like make your choice and BBQ,
I'm sorry when I play surv I hate going against cringy sweatlords that tunnel 1 guy for the whole game, especially blights and spirits it's just disgusting
-
If someone run new OTR + DS you can still tunnel him hard but you're gonna lose a lot of time and probably lose the game, you can counter these perks easily by going for someone else.. it's already highly encouraged.
They're probably buffing thanatophobia for the same reason it's a good perk only if you try to injure everyone
-
She probably still has lowest kill rate, she struggle if you can break line of sight when I play her some survivors stay in the open and are predictable. Sometimes you can loop her for a long time just with 2-3 walls next to each other.
I think it's the same problem than spirit it's not very fun to play against a good one if she can guess your next moves, it's probably not OP just frustrating, if anything nerf the add ons not nurse
