    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/387994/i-dont-get-the-point-of-tunneling

At the end of the day tunneling is a winning strategy. I'm not a fan of it myself, definitely not when I'm playing surv. I understand late game tunneling to secure a kill or midgame for pressure, but i have a real thing against tunneling someone hard straight away and don't do it myself (unless there is a challenge or achievement to get)

It's hard to stop mechanically, the only way to stop tunneling really is to persuade players. And some players will want to win as easily as possible regardless of how unpleasant they make things for the others in the game.

My best suggestion is simply to separate ranked and casual play into 2 separate playlists. That way they could make the ranked experience more competitive and even.

It's not going to work if I'm a mean killer I will queue in casual and still tunnel and camp just to ruin your games, only way is to fix it with gameplay mechanics make it impossible or very punishing to hard tunnel, it will need some balancing with gen speed but it's doable, or as a bandaid make DS useful again

  • The whole rank thing is funny with people playing like their life depends on it, you don't gain anything from a 4k in this game, iri 1 is 1 million BP that's like 5 games with cakes

Devs have increased killrates that's cool but they failed to make the game fun, it's really stale I get a camping killer half of the time, hard tunneling is meta it's the only way to play against good teams, kilers like blight/wesker can facecamp from 30 meters away that's probably why they're so popular, I can't wait to get facecamped by alien

pls focus on fun not killrates, no one cares

  • I like how everyone complains about resilience injured meta 24/7 but always ignores SLOPPY BUTCHER, 2nd most popular perk totally OP after heal nerfs, if you try to heal against that you just lose the game

if bhvr nerf injured meta they better nerf sloppy too, stop making solo q more miserable than it needs to be

  • @Xendritch said:

Built to Last + Streetwise with a juiced medkit is honestly just as good as old CoH.

Not true COH is one perk slot and no item charge, try to heal with a medkit through sloppy it takes forever.. it's like old self care pre nerf and it wasn't even good, it should be quick with a medkit but no

  • @TheWarNung said:

Honestly, I think your problem is more about playing solo-Q than about survivor in general.

Speaking as a killer main, there's a vast difference between playing against coordinated SWFs and solo players. I've been playing since 2017, and medkits have ALWAYS been the strongest item in the game.

The nerfs were necessary. Medkits are still very strong, but now you can't get 4 heals plus a syringe out of them. There are other good ways to heal. If you're a solo player, I strongly suggest the perk Bond to find people to heal you. You can thank me later.

medkits are weak I dodge lobbies with 4 toolboxes not medkits, injured meta exist for a reason it's a chore to heal now, sloppy butcher is top 2 most popular killer perk because it's broken, OP is right healing for solos is a joke I just equip resilience and go rush gens, way better

  • @WeakestNurseMain said:

You forgot the best one(which is also my favorite) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUakzJtf6S8

That one was great on Nurse it fits better than new one, still good on Bubba

  • It's really meh I was trying to do "escape 1 trial with Jake" challenge today it took forever, like someone said above every killer is playing the same way, "proxy" camp and tunnel, I don't know why devs are so focused on increasing killrates but not making the game fun, ok killers have 70% killrates against solo Q, now what ...?

Things like recent sadako buff are even more disgusting it's unbeatable for solos, I'm not touching survivor unless its +100% bonus now

  • Yes we see people complain all day about MFT-resilience but if devs want to break injured meta sloppy should be nerfed too it's part of the problem, second most used perk and very strong after heal nerfs, it just makes you want to not heal ever..

    lightborn is fine imo

  • I don't know they're unhealthy yes but if I think of broken add ons myers come to mind, I would prefer them nerfing tombstone is just unfair and I find perma tier 3 a bit much too, then look at blight and new sadako they need add ons nerf

  • if you just play to escape a toolbox build is broken, built to last+ streetwise + strong toolbox and distorsion

if you want to take aggro and get tunneled, OTR-DS-mft- windows opportunity

Oh right, because having players is overrated.

I think it's rare for single person to start playing survivors. It's kinda hard to get into. New players usually start playing as killers or SWF.

I may be wrong, but it simply makes sense to me.

I'm not english not sure if it's sarcasm or not, when you start the game in current version yes it's common to become a killer main, low mmr killer is very easy, survivor is a slaughter I escaped maybe 1/20 times when I started, now I tend to enjoy surv more but not when i started playing it was awful

  • The massive gap between swf and solos has ruined the game for casuals, they buffed killer to compete with 3-4 man swf, if it was my game I make it solo and duo queuee only then I balance around that, current game is impossible to balance for everyone

  • true I was thinking the same about Knight he is unplayable without map of the realm, it's odd when a common add-on is mandatory

  • I want to see her killrate right now, people are saying "she's just m1 killer" but she's way too oppressive teleport need a real COOLDOWN, and tvs are hard to find on some maps, played against one on swamp it was hell, make them visible like pig box

realistically in solo Q it's rare that 4 people can manage condemn, there's not enough time or tvs always one player is getting moried at 0 hook then it's gg

  • buff BP a bit and I bet less people would suicide right away, but no it's always "punish more!!", and that's why it always fail

That's an entitled excuse. If you think any game is lost before the game even starts, you're part of the problem.

Also OP, trust me on this, tunneling isn't fun for the Killer either. It's just efficient.

everything is "entitled" in this forum so yeah don't care, if you can't handle people leaving you can play with friends. Some games are lost right off the bat that's just how it is, questionable balance and they're not rewarding either in term of BP, I can see why suicide is so common

The point of playing survivor is to survive, players are killing themselves on their first hook. It's not fair to the rest of the team that's actually trying to escape. If you're loading into a game it's because you want to play so what's the point in trying to die as soon as you get on your first hook?

If you play a lot of solo Q you can tell many games are lost right off the bat, like typical wesker/blight main tunneling at 5 gens is a waste of time, these people never lose to a solo q team it's just not happening, might aswell die go next

  • It's addicting despite major design flaws, I had 2 long break but there is something that make you come back for more, other asymmetrical games have all failed it's the only one, not balanced but it just works

There's a general overall lack of confidence in the matchmaking system. That low prestige default cosmetic player is a complete coin flip. They could be solid, but there's also a very good chance they're a very low hour backfill, which means you're also probably a backfill in that lobby. So you make a calculation: do I potentially play a match that will be a complete waste of time or back out of this lobby and re-queue instantly? It's an easy value proposition.

This, I'm sorry but I dodge default skin free characters especially meg and console, 9/10 times they are bad, I get some against me when I play killer they legit can't hold w it's very sad, before prestige in lobby was a thing people already dodged default skins

  • I believe you I had one adam with a weird name impossible to catch on RPD today, he was healthy whole game so not MFT, I couldn't get close to him no matter what he was definitely at 4.6ms, reported him for not so subtle speed hack and I'm 100% positive he was hacking, I play this game enough almost everyday to notice something was off with that person

also few days ago I was instantly killed and teleported in basement by a plague few seconds after match started, so i'm not crazy there are still hackers in game

  • try corrupt-deadlock-sloppy butcher + anything, generic build that works on any m1 killer

  • They removed flashlight clicking just because people complained it's kinda same thing, when they introduce anti camp mechanic hitting on hook will serve no purpose

DBD is a game that resists logic sometimes and folks are very used to content creators winning so much that losses seem extraordinary.

But people should take a step back and think a bit, how many times they really lose vs how many times they get 3-4ks, constant crying for nerf when killer is already in a good spot is not that useful, keep nerfing solo q and it's borderline unplayable at this point

I can make a lot of videos about broken things on killer side, broken add ons and cheap tactics that guarantees wins or 2k+

  • He gets 3-4k 95% of the time, then he lose once against a good team, he's using a troll build and he still did pretty good btw. Comments are weird are survivors even allowed to escape ? take any other game with 2 teams and you don't win 100% of the time, even if you're the best player in the world you will still lose a lot it's called game balance

  • You can make tunneling impossible but then you need to slow down gens, do people really want longer games ? if you kill tunneling and facecamp you can make the game more about chase and hooks and less about kills but gens will take forever to balance it

  • @SMitchell8 said:

You can't play casually as killer. You have to work and sweat for wins, especially with B tier or below killers.

I don't think it's true I was watching a 10k hours killer main on twitch yesterday this guy has 100+ wins 2 lose atm, another has a 500+ winstreak apparently, another guy is doing perkless winstreaks with all killers.. take godlike players in any other game and they don't win 100% of the time more like 60%. Even I reach iri 1 killer without trying and I'm stuck iri 4 as survivor

I sympathize with players getting bullied by "sweat squads" but it doesn't happen very often most games are pretty chill as killer, for me solo Q is by far the main problem it's the most unbalanced thing i've ever played in any game, really miserable.

Imo SWF shouldn't even exist, it should be solo or duo queue MAX and then balance the game around that, if you balance for killer against 4 man swf then it's miserable for everyone else, OP is right it has become a sweat fest

  • I play mostly killer only because it's perma +100%, I don't even want to I don't think it's fun atm. It's either too easy or very annoying, and with event people stick to gens.. at the same time solo Q is really not worth playing without +100% bonus, total waste of time

Idk why twins pickrate is so low but they're my favourite killer and I am not looking forward to the rework in the slightest

True I fear the worst with that rework... it's a fun killer as it is, controlling victor is unique it's a bit like nurse you can ignore normal mechanics, we already have enough generic m1 killers

Exactly it goes both ways. Regardless it’s still fun and there’s no reason NOT to add it.

A good reason is to keep the game serious and "horror" vibe, this game is not fortnite I'm already not a fan of skins like elephant clown and bunny legion, it's not that serious but it can ruin immersion. Like proximity chat if they add VOIP I'd leave the game tbh

  • @kisfenkin said:

I disagree. I think they should increase the DC punishment. Bots should only be in matches where someone accidentally loses internet. The bots aren't there to cover a temper tantrum, but to support the players that aren't having internet problems and actually want to play the game.

They were never meant to incentivize DCs, and since this mindset is obviously something that has come up, please, BHVR, increase the DC penalty significantly to squash this idea entirely. I suggest:

    1st DC 1 hour penalty

    2nd DC 1 day penalty

    3rd DC 1 week penalty

    4th DC 1 month penalty

    5th DC 1 year penalty

Bad idea everyone will kill themselves on hook 100% of the time, if I play solo Q I want that person to DC and let us play with a bot, early 3v1 is almost unwinnable

  • You can do well with most killers I'm playing lot of dredge atm and rarely lose, you're definitely forced to tunnel against gen efficient teams but it's doable, honestly only pure M1 are unplayable against strong teams like Pig, Ghostface, Freddy etc

  • It's fine for killers I would say, I won't use it on surv it's just bad design, If I do more than half of a gen just give me the bonus, or better yet any gen done should give bonus to anyone who used offering

  • You prolly camped basement and got 3k it's really not that impressive, we already know camping is overpowered especially basement is free win

    statistics since April

mft didn't even exist for most of the statistics collection time

for example, if at the end of the year you return the oldest dh and everyone starts using it again in statistics for the year, the total number will increase from 10 to 12-15

Therefore, it would be more accurate if they posted statistics for July-August

I agree but it's not "most" it's half of the period, April 27= May, Gabriel Soma released June 13... April 27 to August 5 that's 1.5 month without and 1.5 month with MFT

I'm not saying perk is weak or don't deserve nerf or anything but it's probably not even top 5 still, sloppy is extremely popular

  • @sanees said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3503866#Comment_3503866

the butcher has 10-15% use (taking into account the fact that this is a starting perk) mft has 20%+ usage

and no, we don't need to nerf everything killers perk because every update just because bhvr gives survivors op brain dead perk

yeah you're wrong see "stats" post by Mandy, sloppy is second most used killer perk at 20%, mft is not even there, only devs know if mft= higher winrate

  • Ok but nerf sloppy to compensate we're tired of it, it's not ok after healing nerf

  • 100% I made a thread after prove thyself nerf but no one cared 😂 playing solo Q is so unrewarding it seems like a waste of time, you get like 1500 points for a FULL solo gen, if killer tunnel you you always finish with 10-15k max, seriously nerf survivors more if you want but buff score events so we're not wasting our time

  • After prove thyself nerf they could buff objective points when doing a gen solo it's very low honestly, and if I was them I give us a lot more ways to earn survival points and nerf escape to 2-3k instead of 7k, it should encourage altruism and risky saves endgame

  • You could get good with spirit-blight-nurse and win most games fairly easily right ? Surely the next alien indoor map is going to be a midwich 2.0 very killer sided map

  • Ok I just played one quick game it's awful, in solo q it just make people finish their gens and not going for saves, helping etc, smartest event design

  • I don't get it if you repair 95% of a gen and someone else finish the 5% you get nothing ?

  • When they just patrol 3 gens with overcharge and don't commit to any chase it's very boring yeah, they all play sloppy-noed and camp too it's a funny meme but true

  • @Emeal said:

This suggestion is kinda speculatory unless we get bHVR to spill the beans about soloQ vs. SWF again.

idd like to get a word on how the new HUD info worked and improved the game, answering these questions.

    1. Current SWF / SoloQ winrate difference?
    2. what has HUD info changed?
    3. Are there any next steps?

We already know escape rate is low for solo Q and high for swf... only way to enjoy solo Q is to be a comp level player at looping or it's unplayable, but even if you can loop killer for five gens there's no telling how long those gens will take

When killer is playing for money, tunneling at 5 gens and your teamates are walking around the map, doing totems, glyphs or nothing it's already lost, I wanted to be a surv main but without friends it's just no, you get an alright team 1/10 games, i've given up I just play killer

SWF > Killer > Solo Q is still true and solo q IS unplayable

That's what i don't understand about this community. The survivor mains complain about camping and tunneling, and whenever anyone points out how terrible it actually is for killers going against efficient teams its "but the average survivor can't do that". Which doesn't matter. You also don't make changes in a vacuum, you can change A and also change B at the same time. With all the complaining i'm surprised people don't realize that this game would be more fun if they didn't balance for kills, but instead balanced for chases, and made camping and tunneling impossible. It's what everyone generally wants.

It's impossible to be objective if you're playing only 1 side I would guess ? Don't get me wrong I think you're 100% right but I don't think bhvr can pull it off, it's a complete overhaul.. from what I've seen they struggle with basic things

we'll see PTB for anti camp mechanic but I'm positive that it will be a disaster, they'll probably scrap it like anti slug ptb last time

  • @Reinami said:

    • Dead lock is pretty decent, i'll give you that, but its not controllable. All it does is slow down the "gen rush"
    • Pain res is okish, but you get 4 uses out of it if you don't tunnel, and it knocks off 22.5 seconds off a gen at most for each token. For context, a commodious toolbox knocks off 26 seconds off a gen and pain res is the highest burst gen regression in the game. So even pain res, which can only be used 4 times, is less powerful than a toolbox, that can be used multiple times with other perks.
    • Corrupt has been mostly gutted because of a down removing it. The reality is that first down is hard to get regardless, and even with corrupt you'll likely still lose 2 gens in the first chase.
    • Gift of pain is a joke, it can be countered by forcing the killer to hit you and on top of that it forces you to not tunnel to get value (hint: at high levels you have to at least mildly tunnel to win)
    • Jolt is a joke, at BEST its going to hit 3 gens and knock off 7.2 seconds on each one, in reality its probably only going to consistently hit 1 maybe 2 gens if you are lucky.
    • Floods of rage is an aura perk which is countered by the now-meta distortion
    • BBQ is an aura perk, and you can actually counter it pretty well by hiding your aura behind a gen if you know where the killer is.
    • NOED is a joke, you spend the whole game with 3 perks, to guarantee a single down (not necessarily a kill depending on cleansing). Purely RNG based where the totem spawns if it gives you any actual value. And there's no point in using it over something like NWO which is much better value and game delay.

Gen regression has been nerfed to uselessness now. Keep in mind, and this something i think survivors don't realize, the amount of time it takes to pick up a survivor and hook them. Like, forget the chase aspect, and the cooldowns and all that. But lets just look at the time to hook them.

    2.7 seconds wipe animation

    3 second pickup animation

~8 seconds to walk to a hook (about half the wiggle bar)

    1.5 second hooking animation

So just hooking a survivor takes a full 2.7 + 3 + 8 + 1.5 = 15.2 seconds. 3 other survivors working on gens, means you finish half a gen between the 3 of you, just picking a survivor up. Again, not factoring in anything else, not even the chase itself (which at minimum should last around 30-40 seconds). This doesn't factor in that half the time the survivor that is downed teleports a few meters away for some random reason so it takes a couple extra seconds where you "fiddle" with picking them up. It doesn't factor in looking around for other survivors to deal with potential flashlights or pallet saves.

And you wonder why it is so frustrating to see these gen defense perks gutted? The only one that actually gives you BACK value from a hook is pain res, and that only works 4 times. This is why slugging and tunneling is the norm now, because you literally do not have time to pick up a survivor and hook them against an efficient team.

That's not to say all hope is lost, it is clear BHVR is trying to move us to a more chase oriented meta. With nerfs to healing, buffs to coup and things like trail of torment and the new singularity perks. It is obvious that is the direction they are pushing. Which i personally think is good. But they really need to stop being lazy and not do it with perks. IMO. Make tunneling IMPOSSIBLE. Make camping IMPOSSIBLE (not punished via a stupid abusable mechanic by SWF, i mean literally IMPOSSIBLE) and balance the gen speeds around getting lots of hooks and chases (and not kills) and the game will be so much more fun for everyone.

True that's exactly what they should do but no one wants to hear it, make tunneling/camping impossible or very punishing but nerf gen speed heavily... toolboxes and gen perks. There is no other way to make the game more chase based, more about hooks and less about securing quick kills

  • Can you fix that please ? it takes 2 perk slot, plot twist shouldn't desactivate unbreakable for nothing, both perk should work ONCE

  • It was fine, why not fix plot twist desactivating unbreakable instead ? zero fun allowed really

  • @Biscuits said:

Glad to see the forums is still full of killer mains.

I just came back after almost a year break to see if the game improved. I was face camped by a bubba 2 games in.

Killers should be nerfed, the killrate was 65% when I left and it has only gone up as far as I can see. Why anyone plays survivor right now is beyond me. The solo experience is all but dead.

I took a year break too and after playing last few weeks I just think playing dirty is way too rewarding against solos, they made some weird choice after 6.1. It's fine to buff killers but tunneling is a bit easy now, I don't know why DS is still at 3sec (2 with animation), I used it against a nurse she got me 2 seconds later with one blink, it's pitiful..

I say game would be fine if hard tunneling was more punishing, some survivor things probably need a nerf to compensate like toolboxes, I don't see anyone talking about it but they are insane if you bring multiple ones

  • Why so much hate on Knight ? Easy answer is huntress a good one is BS, then Wesker-blight, all my games are against these 3 playing the same boring builds

BHVR balances for low skill casual survivors, not SWF's.

The majority of the DBD player base are casual low skill survivors, so it makes sense.

No they don't, low skill casual survivors are getting farmed and solos are hopeless against tunneling it's very effective atm, if anything they balance for casual killers, low skill killer can still get 1-2k pretty easily

1 … 9 10 11 12 13 … 22
