Haha what?
I'll see you Nostromo and raise you The Game. It's almost hard to not go down on a pallet there. But sure, replace pallet stun with a good sabo. Or a flashbang, which still seems to be possible to drop inside models with BGP (although this could simply be very good timing plus getting latency'd).
I'm trying to say that there are reasons to try and kill the last two at the same time because it stinks getting stuck in a game forever because two people want to be BM, or are simply both trying for hatch.
Imma keep it 💯 with you gamer, I think the overlap between "goes for pallet save in a 2v1" and "hides for 20-30 minutes" can best be described as slim to none

Sort of?
It's more 'okay the last time I had two left and they went down on the pallet, they got the save, into a blind, into me losing them, into me wasting 20 minutes trying to find two people who are going from locker to locker to avoid crows, because I'm on Cenobite and they hate Cenobite'.
pallet stun areas make up roughly 0.01% of the pathable parts of dbd maps

as survivor you do gens or you're just stalling. stalling forces killer to slug one of you just to speed up game ;) because then you know killer will look for you or will kill 3rd and now its hatch race.
Be me, killer player
Manage to get 10 hook states and get down to the last two survivors
They're doing a good job stealthing me but I manage to find and knock one of them down
Look around
Can't see where the last survivor is
Try to pick up last survivor
MFW the last survivor hiding makes it literally impossible for me to pick them up and hook the slugged survivor

I think there is a solution to this problem, but I don't think it would work in isolation. Fix hiding (and AFK crows), then do this. Sure.

It would result in a lot of slug camping and/or 2 survivors playing hide and seek for half an hour.
"It would result in [thing that rewards the last survivor doing gens] and [thing that people already complain happens]"
So at worst things stay the same and at best survivors are rewarded for not hiding and doing the objective (or killers are forced to end the game faster)

Maybe, but if anything has been learnt by the past it's that 1. Changes to slugging has been tried previously with basekit unbreakable and survivors abused it. And 2. Any changes in this area of the game will just teach killers to adapt. Such as how I already adapted by not slugging in 2 v 1 situations but keeping 3rd survivor alive until I find the 4th. Slugging at 5gens is the more likely thing that would be effected but 2 v 1 situations won't change. Look at at the nerfs to camping over the years, it's taught killers to proxi camp better, it's never gone away. Slugging will be no different.
"Survivors abused it" lmao no.
They canceled basekit Unbreakable because it was meant to ship alongside the version of the final mori that activates when all 4 survivors were slugged/hooked/dead, and they canceled that because even with basekit UB the increase in slugging was horrid

BM from sore losers is better than BM from sore winners, every single time.
People who teabag on hatch after a normal 3k are sore losers though. We already established that a 3k is a loss and survivor BM for a 3k is the "I went 0-2, it was close tho" of dbd
-
@Equinox_One said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3858521#Comment_3858521
Why?
Note: I almost always give hatch or gate. But the whole '3K is a win' isn't official, otherwise nobody would sit on hatch gloating or BM in postgame because they got away.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3858535#Comment_3858535
In the same vein, hiding for the hatch is unnecessary.
Killer role is designed to kill. Survivor role is designed to survive. A dumb hiding standoff stalemate is the fault of both parties.
Again - the fact that people will sit on hatch or in the gates to force the killer watch them leave shows that clearly survivors don't consider 3k a loss - otherwise why gloat?
people have BM'ed me in chat after games where I got every result from intentionally never trying to get a hit (and thus a 0k) to a 4k. it has nothing to do with the result they got and everything to do with their mindset going into the endgame and a little bit of how they perceived you to be playing. They're doing that specifically to annoy you, either because they just entered the game angry, or they thought you were trying to make the game unfun (often because they entered the game angry).
It's the same as a killer who humps a slug on the ground; or tries to bleed out survivors for 4 minutes, but then when he sees the survivors have given up and are willing to be bled out to end the game, forces them to do gens instead. (both of these I saw in the course of an hour last night on a survivor player's stream)

They complaind about giving the last survivor hatch, because they did 50% off a gen while I did chase someone and the other didnt do a gen in this time. I checked the gens and she did the 50% on the corner gen furthest away from anything 🤨
Im not mad she bodyblockt with her BT, but I think they say this would counted as me tunneling her even when I didnt chase her further. I cant think of anything else, that even come near to the term tunneling in that round.
An other complain was that I would come back to the hook and this also happend in the same situation, where the Kate bodyblocked, because they unhooked her right next to me while I kicked her genSo I just want to be clear here. Did they actually complain about tunneling, or are you only guessing they might have been thinking in their head that you were tunneling when you hit the BT when she bodyblocked?
-
they should remove the charge-based system, make it do 10 or 12% per hook, and have it deactivate when a survivor dies

Niche, mid, very mid, incredibly mid. BF works well on some survivors but smart folks know how to play around it. It is a godsend on Game at least.
There's a reason BF is not and has never been meta.
The rest of these are kind of a fart.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3857115#Comment_3857115
And yet you never see it in any sort of top level or tourney play, even where other perks are restricted.
Why do you think that is?
Why do you think that is?
In the words of G-Eazy, "think I know, I've got a hunch"

The event offering causes every winter score event to be worth double points - that is, hitting someone with a snowball grants 300 BP instead of 150, hitting a snowman grants 1000 (normal) or 1500 (jumpscare snowman) instead of 500 or 750 respectively. It's applied to the actual score event itself, in game, and is reflected in the score pop up. That's why you don't see the bonus applied in End of Game, it's already applied as part of the gameplay

But the survivors were.
Even if they didn't follow the rules of comp I very much doubted that match was an accurate portrayal of how a game with average players would go.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3855663#Comment_3855663
Sure!
From what I've seen so far, it seems to me the whole "Chess Merchant" had more to do with the Gen Kick meta than her actual power. Except for the add-on which affected Skill Checks.
Getting rid of her drones is not difficult, in fact it can be done rather easily. But how do you progress the gens afterwards if a single generator kick is extremely damaging? Not to mention the whole mess that was Eruption.
And it is something I noticed in the videos that I was watching, the ones where the killer didn't use the infamous Overcharge + Call of Brine + Eruption meta the games didn't have a 3 generator defense. Some of which didn't even reach that point of the game, which can happen in a DBD match against any killer.
Players directed their feelings towards the character because she had a good synergy with the build and playstyle, but I believe the root of the problem was something else.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3855668#Comment_3855668
The huge problem though here is that the killer is incentivized to almost never be "far across the map" from the drones.
That isn't a problem, if the killer is close they are supposed to get value from using their power. That is how a killer works.
And besides, other characters are way more oppressive in chase than her. The injury takes three scans, the drone cannot down you, and the haste she gets, while very useful, doesn't guarantee a hit, depending on the tile and how it is played.
Hard disagree that getting rid of her drones wasn't too difficult.
- 4 drones to cover 3 gens
- Can manually activate the drones to make sure they're always building exposed
- Once a survivor deactivates a drone, they can't re-enter the radius of an active drone for 45 seconds (drone becomes unhackable)
In order to avoid getting exposed by the drones, you would need to coordinate 3 of the 4 survivors to each deactivate one of the drones covering gens at the same time, wait for the Skull Merchant to commit her last drone, and then split focus between the other two gens. The strategy Team Eternal came up with was to just tank the exposed and keep perfect communications about the SM's exact positioning, and that barely worked for finishing the game in an hour. The gen kick meta was a huge part of it, to be sure, but the fact that the killer forced you into permanent exposed, had undetectable so you had to pay attention to your surroundings, and had silent skill checks so you also needed to pay attention for those made it basically impossible

So far, Ive only seen one side playing around with the event stuff … during the event mode … sadly its, with the exception of one single match, my side. (18 games of survivor and 2 games as killer)
That pains me to hear :( I've had several games where everyone on all sides was snowball fighting from the start and several more where the killer got 8 hooks and then started only using snowballs. Most people I met on both sides seemed to be in the holiday mood. Hoping your event games get more consistently cheery

Also, funny how you mention OG Skull Merchant when she was clearly not OP. Sure you can argue that she was boring and unhealthy, but ultimately she was not unwinnable.
An absolute brainlet went on auto-pilot against one of the most competent survivor teams in the world and locked them in that match for over 40 minutes and you think that that's 'clearly not OP'?
Not just "over 40 minutes." 57 minutes, legit 3 minutes from the severs closing. Against a team that, as far as I'm aware, has never lost a tournament match they played out

It has to be one of the ones that explodes and jump scares you when you get near it. I don't think those ones ever move around, so hitting the ones that are just standing there is a better way of doing it.

Why i being slugged less fun for you? A hook timer is 70 seconds, meaning you could sit there for a full 3.5 minutes, with slugging its 4 minutes AND you can move around.
I never understood the survivor argument that being slugged is boring. When i play survivor and get slugged its better than getting proxy camped on the hook.
a hook timer is 70 seconds, meaning you could sit there for a full 3.5 minutes
Ah yes, those famous minutes that only last… let me do the math… 40 seconds (assuming the max amount of time on hook)
AND you can move around
I'm sure that's exactly what this guy plays video games for in the little free time he has, to see a character crawl around on the floor at 1 meter per second for 4 minutes at a time
When I play survivor and get slugged it's better than getting proxy camped on the hook
just because you personally can find one thing that you think is worse does not mean that a thing is not bad

And the true colors come out, this old chestnut of "oh you're just a Killer Main".
Brother I play 70% Survivor, I just happen to PREFER Killer when I have the time. Here is my Dead By Stats Link:
https://deadbystats.eu/profile/actuallynyarlathotep
Please try again and stop assuming.
Just want to chime in here, it doesn't matter what you play more of when talking about what role you "main." I used to make this mistake too.
An assertion that someone is a killer or survivor main is an assertion on what their favorite role is to play - not which role they play more of. You saying you prefer killer is the evidence you are a killer main, just like me saying I prefer survivor is evidence I am a survivor main (despite the fact that I've been playing more killer than survivor recently). A fairly well-known streamer I know has changed from a survivor to killer main because he finds killer more enjoyable, but he still mainly plays survivor on stream because that's what his audience knows him for and expects from him. You get it.
Also, I disagree with the person who was arguing with you - I don't think that someone being a killer or a survivor main necessarily means that they're biased. I, as a survivor main, was very vocal for a long time about thinking Distortion should only recharge in chase, for instance, and I've advocated for many killer-related buffs over my time here.

I enjoy winning at dbd yea lol that makes playing the game fun. I still have to chase people, still have to counter loops, still have to decide what perks to bring and noed is risky because it has a chance of being cleansed very quickly. So tunneling is a core mechanic but not in the same way? Seriously? I am playing the game according to the core design of chase survivor, kill survivor. Survivors love to keep a killer occupied for as long as possible so others can do gens, but when they suck at it and the killer keeps downing them then it's a different matter. It's ridiculous lol. The people complaining about tunneling are the ones saying "ok you got me, now leave me alone so I can finish a gen while you chase someone else" as always it's pick and choose whatever suits the survivor at that given moment in time. Do killers say "ok you did 1 gen now don't do any more until I get a hook" it's crazy 😂 how some people change the rulebook whenever they please smh.
Simply put if survivors don't want to be chased then don't play survivor? Can't pick and choose when you do and don't want to be chased, it's all part of the game like it or not.
No, there is nothing about the game that requires you to keep hooking only the same survivor until they are dead. It is a choice to do that. I personally love getting killers who do that to me specifically, because I've gotten some pretty sick chases that lasted multiple minutes and resulted in easy 4-outs, but that's beside the point.
By contrast, when survivors do not take advantage of loops, they simply die. There is no other option there.
Also killers absolutely love telling survivors that they did gens too fast. It's, like, the thing killers complain about. I went up against a streamer who rage quit and accused me of gen rushing because we got a grand total of 2 gens done in just under 3 minutes at the start of the match. The audacity to pretend "gen rush" isn't within the top handful of most common killer complaints is astounding

Lmao exactly my point, chasing is a core mechanic and survivors are like "come chase me, waving a flashlight around and crouching" then cry when the killer chases them and downs them... Then they are like "stop tunneling" my point is not everyone likes the core mechanic of the opponent but I don't complain about it, I get on with it and counter it my way which is tunnel asap. It's up to the survivors to counter the tunneling not cry about it.
Tunneling and using noed are not core mechanics in the same way looping is, and the people who try to take chase by clicking a flashlight and teabagging are not the same people complaining in earnest about tunneling.
My point is that you don't like DBD, you like winning, and the gameplay style you choose maximizes the ratio of doing what you like (winning) with what you don't like (actually playing the game), and I'm not listening to the opinions on what's "good game design" of anyone who dislikes the core mechanics of the game they're playing

It works and it's fun therefore it's good game design. What people don't understand is that for a killer it makes little difference who they chase. It could be same person all match it could be all 4 alternating each time. The chase is essentially the same for the killer. If you want poor game design look at the survivor side... Sit on a gen pressing a button now and then when a skill check happens. Or go in circles like a scooby doo sketch looping... That's poor and cheap game design.

Of cause, all of the sudden dbd MMR works perfectly fine
Are you ok? I've already mentioned multiple times that MMR is not perfect, and that the way the queue bonus works is also not perfect. You asked how it was possible that your queue bonus was different from Otz' queue bonus, and that's the question I was answering - your bonus is different because (problems with how MMR works aside) you probably don't have the exact same MMR values as Otz.
-
@HolyDarky said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3854091#Comment_3854091
year but the dbd MMR just exists - it's nothing special. I've played against Otz as a SoloQ survivor even though I only play survivor 20% of my dbd time. The BP Bonus also has not much to do with the MMR because you get in general BP bonus on Killer (according to the devs, every killer has their own MMR but also an average MMR; for example: if you are a super-ultra high MMR Trapper but never play Nurse, your Nurse will have your average MMR and not a beginner MMR when you play her the first time after 2000h). However, it does not matter if you play your high MMR killer or your average killer, you will get 50% on both.
the point is that you'll have slightly different mmr values from otz and that's why you'll have different bonuses from him. i agree that mmr is nothing special and the specific issues you brought up make the system as it is a bit weird, but that doesn't change the fact that having different mmr values than someone will make you have different matchmaking times
-
@HolyDarky said:
One thing that I've notice today, I had 50% on killers and during the time between matches, I watched Otz stream, who had 25% on survivor at the same time and I know he plays on the same servers like me (EU). So how is this possible? Otherwise, over the last few days, mostly 25% or nothing for both sides and barely 50% for one side. Today, I also noticed that from time to time there was a jump from 25% on survivors to 50% on killer which is awkward. I really hope the developers will fix because there is no way that it is working as intended/before Lights Out 2.0.
The formula uses personal MMR as part of its calculation

Its the same distance yes but trying to use it around tiles gives survivors WAY more time to move out of the way when they already could before. So in that aspect the speed nerf is definitely a nerf.
@squbax said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3853960#Comment_3853960
Even if distance was the same it would still be a nerf, as it being slower lets a survivor cut a corner or put an obstacle in between them and chucky faster, so even if he can travel the same in loops his power is worse.
Yeah that's probably it, the difference around corners is hard to quantify with back-of-the-napkin math, that's where he's starting to feel less like free hits and more like no hits

True, but I would say that the Corrective Action-thing was simply an Oversight.
Oh yeah for sure, but it still did happen. They do listen to feedback in PTB even if most of it doesn't lead to massive changes.
Also, while we're on the subject (this isn't directed at you, Aven, you're cool). After they came up with and coded an entire new effect for CA between PTB and Live, but couldn't even do a simple numbers change for TotH, anyone that accuses the devs of favoring survivors owes me $10. I'm not accusing them of favoring killers, but I will not be gaslit

The PTB rarely has impact when it comes to balancing. I think the only time in recent years where it had a significant impact was with the Twins-Buff which did not come live (or was changed, to be more precise, since they got buffed). But here it is baffling already that it made it to the PTB.
But in general, the Devs only have a few days between the PTB-Start and the time they have to push the Update to Live, since it takes a while to bring it to the Live Servers. I think it was like 3 or 4 days at best. So you will not really get good feedback on the PTB, unless it is absolutely obvious.
PTBs are not for real testing anyway. They are for hype and nothing more.
There was also the Final Mori system that got pushed back a year due to PTB feedback, and a Corrective Action buff got canceled due to it clearly being broken on the PTB.
-
It's wild because the speed "nerf" on paper is barely even a nerf (you gain the same amount of distance and spend a measly 0.6 seconds extra) so I guess this goes to show that on-paper calculations aren't everything
Old S&D: (10 m/sec - 4 m/sec) * 1.2 sec = 7.2 meters gained
New S&D: (8 m/sec - 4 m/sec) * 1.8 sec = 7.2 meters gained
...I'm realizing now, is it possible the new Slice and Dice is coded wrong somehow and the Chucky's not getting the distance he should?
-
Exultation is mediocre, but it has advantages over Built to Last. You can use it to recharge in chase, which happens naturally, whereas B2L requires you to take like 20 seconds finding and sitting in a locker. Also, you can use Exultation it to turn your brown toolboxes into better items. It's not great, but I think you're undervaluing it.

Apologies, @NarkoTri1er I hope you enjoy your gaming :)
I personally enjoyed the part where he said "half the community" was involved in comp. I mean like
60 million sales across all platforms
40k average concurrent players on Steam alone, estimated like 150k-200k for all platforms
Estimated 2 million monthly users across all platforms
Less Than 22k users in the DBDLeague discord
Total of 51 ranked teams for this season of DBDLeague leaderboard
The math isn't mathing
-
30 feels like you're praying for gens to only ever finish midway through a hard chase. I feel like 60 would be far too oppressive, so somewhere in the 45 second range would be a good compromise.
Also, it would be cool if the duration could extend if a gen pops while the effect is already active

why? Because casual players think it shouldn't because they can't handle having to invest time into learning how to properly play the game?
The game is designed and balanced around people playing it as a social experience rather than a competiton. They don't even show you your MMR rating, for Pete's sake.
There's a reason they invite smaller streamers who focus on conversing with their chat to preview new gameplay - those streamers are naturally good at goofing around while being entertaining. They don't invite Team Eternal, because that's not what they want to showcase.
I think BHVR realize, at least, that if someone wants to sweat hard, they'll play a game that's more rewarding to play competitively. Skill expression is rewarded in individual matches, but nobody's deluding themselves that if they juice a killer for 3 minutes in solo queue or get a 4k at 4 gens for the 20th time in a row on blight, that they'll get invited to a multi million dollar tourney.

Earlier in the thread we were theorizing that your response would be to downplay by saying that the survivors Shroompy faced were not as cracked as the survivors you regularly face; such a point is actually independent from whether or not you compliment someone's gameplay. By reading what you said we can see that's exactly what you did.

Depends on the killer. If its an M2 injure (at least with most killers) it won't reveal devour since M2 powers can't down. It only reveals devour if a person got M1'd or (I don't know if this has been fixed ever) if blight rush attacks.
I think m2s are supposed to reveal. I played against an artist with Devour who only got 3 hooks and Devour got revealed when the artist tagged the survivor who was opening gate

why would there be lol
this once again reinforces my theory that some people think the real game of DBD is "make sure your side gets the most buffs." just because something that got overbuffed is being rightfully reverted, does not mean that you need to get additional buffs to offset the power-spike that never should have happened in the first place
-
You already know he's gonna request whatever killer makes it easiest to downplay and say "you only won because your opponents are potatoes". Play whatever killer you're comfortable with

I mean, the perk as it stands clearly needs to be nerfed, some combos are straight up unlosable for killers as long as the killer isn't deliberately throwing.
I see several possible ideas:
- Bump it down to 12% per stack, in between where it was when it was underused and where it is now, with no further changes
- Remove stacks entirely and bump it back down to 50% as long as the hex still stands
- Make it not take up a hex totem, so the buff always persists (after bumping it down to something like 10% per stack)
- Have it not affect dull totems (still reveal that the perk is in play when touching a dull) so survivors can cleanse dulls at normal speed to chew through stacks quicker (though this runs into the problem of what if there are no dulls?)
- Bump it down by some unspecified amount, increase the base hex cleanse time, and have partially cleansed totems retain their progress (have them regress at 25-50% cleanse speed?)
In the order of least to most complex a fix.

My post wasn't directed at you nor was the intent to say your reasons were without validity. It was simply exhaustion from never seeing anything positive on these forums, a cherry on top of the ice cream as it were. If the perk needs to be nerfed or not wasn't what I was even talking about, truth be told I don't care either way if it's nerfed or not I just think these forums are toxic and I'm insane for sticking around thinking it would ever be anything else.
Your post wasn't directed at me, but it was on a public forum so I thought I may as well respond. The post I responded to said:
we're complaining about HEX builds lol
This implied you found the idea of complaining about hex builds laughable. I explained the exact change that makes [treating complaints about hex builds as laughable] seem out of touch with the current state of the game, and gave advice as to how you could avoid that faux-pas foe similar situations. Hope that helps 👍

I legit wonder what people want killers to run as perks, seems to me no matter what perk set they run it's always complained about. I mean we're complaining about HEX builds now…lol I never thought I would see the day, hex perks are trash and have been trash for a long time yet here we are complaining about builds revolving around them. These forums have legit complained about every single killer build; heal slow down, hit and run, slugging, tunneling, camping, gen defense, hex builds, chase builds, aura reading builds. Perhaps we should just remove all killer perks from the game, then we can start complaining about killer add ons.🤷♂️
You see, if I saw a group of people complaining about something that historically was no big deal, I would look into why they were complaining about it, see if maybe something like Hex: Thrill of the Hunt got hit with a buff that increased its effectiveness by over 200% and nearly eliminated the one downside of hexes. I would try to figure out why they were complaining instead of assuming it was for no reason and making a post trying to laugh about it but making me look out of touch in the process. That's just me though.

Fun fact: That would equal to 0 charges per second
Exactly - make hexes impossible to cleanse in exchange for a perk slot. Surely that would still be balanced :clueless:

Just put the numbers between what they are and what they were

sometimes, you have to take the opposite position that is unpopular and seemingly not defendable. i am not going to convince you that the perk is not busted/unfair but i will say that sometimes it's fair when killer gets value out of their perks.
Sometimes, if you are "forced" to take a position that is "seemingly not defendable", you should reject that position
