Yeah, I know we're excited and waiting is hard, but I appreciate that they let us know that support is coming as opposed to keeping us in the dark the whole time wondering.
Slowly but surely. Thank you, @MandyTalk , for your patience, communication and help.
-
oh yeah, for sure. sorry, i meant more that when VHS is finally widely available to people once it hits EA. but yeah, it works great now for anyone who wants to sign up for Closed Beta!
-
i admit it's worrying, but i have a few reasons to hope.
1) they've already done something, since the easyanticheat_x64.so file is now included in the manifest.
2) Valve has shown no intention to stop pushing Linux, and it only keeps getting better. It would be a good move to be compatible and playable on Steam Deck.
3) Competitors, such as VHS, WILL be playable on Steam Deck, and I wouldn't think they'd want to cede that whole territory.
4) DbD has been released on practically everything. It wouldn't take much to also be playable on Steam Deck / Linux via Proton.
But, like I said before, if VHS hits Early Access before DbD is playable, I'll just move full-time to VHS. I've put close to 2k hours into DbD, but I want to play a game that works on my OS.

nvm

There's not a NY server? That surprises me.

I don't have an ETA on this I'm afraid - it's still a WIP.
Hey Mandy!
Thanks so much for chiming in. I'm sure this must get tiresome for you so I really appreciate you taking the time.
Ok, I guess just keep conveying our undying hunger to the team, then. XD
Thanks!
-
Year 7 roadmap just dropped, but no mention of Steam Deck support.
@MandyTalk can you give us any kind of update? Is it soon? A year from now? Any new insight would be appreciated as we're starving here. XD

How does stadia fare doing skill checks? I tried in home streaming from a roommates pc but even over gigabit lan the added latency really throws me off and I don't want to get too used to it.
It can be laggy and juttery. Like, it'll do for now when I have nothing else, but it can't compare to local.

I'm currently rocking ubuntu's jammy jellyfish, due I'm still learning and heard a lot of good about the ubuntu. Currently I had to change into linux due my studies and I dont have enough space on my lappy for dual boot for windows so currently no DbD for me. :(
you could join me in the dark lands of Stadia. you can sync it to steam.

Map offerings should BAN a map, not SELECT a map.

yes please! not everyone uses Twitter.

EndeavourOS as well, KDE Plasma :)
Oh yeah, Plasma for sure! :D
All AMD open source also
-
EndeavourOS (arch based). Great experience. I've been in the arch-based ecosystem since Antergos and it finally got me to stop distro hopping.
I deleted my Win partition because DbD was keeping me booted into Win too much. for now i play DbD on, ugh, Stadia, which is not the same quality as playing locally.
praying for them to enable this soon.
-
Get good
-
We have little choice in the matter.
-
Honestly, more killers should be at this level.

Don't get your hopes up, just gonna hurt more when the anniversary update hits and there's no support still.
Ay, I know. I'm just trying to encourage BHVR. XD
-
Adjust her teleports, Condemnation needs to be a serious threat, lose the lullaby.
-
I would absolutely love to see this! Lovely pictures and rich culture!
-
Next week is the anniversary. This would be the perfect anniversary gift!
Please, BHVR! We're as tired of asking as you are of hearing from us. XD the best way to make us go away is to just enable it. XD
-
that was my situation too, and i love DbD so much it was keeping me in Windows way too much for my liking. so after the EAC announcement, i just bit the bullet and wiped Windows. i just needed to get out and get back to Linux.
for now, i use the less than acceptable Stadia until i get a real solution from the devs and the EAC compatibility we're all desperately waiting for.
-
Please stop trying to ruin things. Just learn to play around it. Especially Nightfall.
Imo the blackened screen edges should be added to Blindness!
-
one can only hope, ya know? my guess is that it would actually run really well on Linux if they'd just get EAC out of the way.
i'm sorry for your struggles. just seems to be part of this game's legacy, unfortunately.
-
i understand that, for sure. and i only want the best for the team. but after 9 months, it's getting hard to wait, especially with a competitor out there.
-
The wait is really becoming unbearable. It's been 9 months since this feature was added to EAC.
The more they wait the more I'm just going to tell people to go play VHS since it works now.
Please at least announce it with a time line.
-
I don't need to see the little horse to know they have boiled over. The intense swaying already tells me. And the game didn't tell me beforehand, only after it happened.
Can't hide behind asym. It's bad, handholding design. Survs need more info about each other, not take away the surprise factor of the enemy.
-
@OnryosTapeRentals said:
Hmm. On one hand I think this would be a great little buff to some perks on the weaker side, but on the other I'd be concerned that it would just worsen the solo-queue-SWF disparity.
A lack of information is already a problem for solos so I don't know if this would be the way to go, if that makes sense? idk
it should have no difference because both solo and swf would not know it was in play until it was in play. then the universal notification goes out, ala NOED and Devour.
@YOURFRIEND said:
Nah, it's fair to warn survivors of these perks. It's up to you to make them impactful.
not remotely fair. XD because killers are constantly warned about surv tricks? get outta here. XD it's handholding, that's all. survs could do with more scares.
-
@Zozzy said:
Linux is opening the door to even more cheaters.
Utter nonsense and propaganda. There's no correlation. Do more research.
-
for real, i bet this game would run butter smooth on Linux once it's fixed.
Let me in! LET ME IIIINNNN! XD
-
i agree that Nightfall should inflict Blindness. but devs may feel it's overkill, so try to find other ways to inflict Blindness instead, like Hex: Third Seal.
-
nah, i love it. very clean, functional, without obscuring all the cool stuff behind.
keep it!
-
some survs take offense at being even mildly inconvenienced by the killer. then they try to downplay it by calling it "annoying." XD
this power is one of the best BHVR have made. stick to your guns!
-
one day, victory will be ours.
-
i don't think Blindness is that strong as long as one is paying attention.
i'd take an add-on where Nightfall inflicts Blindness, but i'll make do with the options i have for now.

I want others to hear it as loud as I want to hear it, though.
sounds like we need a chase music VOLUME SETTING to turn it up to ELEVEN!
-
rrrrrrRRRREEEEEEE!!!
-
no. killers rule, survs drool. :P
-
ty, good to know.
sigh, maybe next time.
-
Dredge update:
with Steam Native i was able to boot into the game this time, but the EAC client was not able to initialize.
i'm going to try installing the game under Steam Flatpak and see if there's any difference. will report back later.
ay, we're so close.
-
Artist should also not disturb crows.
-
undetectable removes the red stain AND the terror radius.
oblivious removes the terror radius but not the red stain.
we don't have anything that removes the red stain but not the terror radius. blindness could be that.
increasing the duration of current blindness is still sort of meh, but it's certainly better than the useless 15 sec. but it's still not a status effect that evokes any real fear or detriment except in the rarest of cases.
-
just because it would inconvenient and "annoying" doesn't mean it shouldn't be done. it's a nice way to represent visual impairment without it being broken.
the fact that one can be "blind" and still see perfectly is a bit silly. if the Boon aura can stay, i think it's a good enough feature to reuse elsewhere for other purposes.

Letting her walk through pallets would literally be anti-loop, and it would just encourage survivors to Hold W.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2984075#Comment_2984075
It really is baffling that they make these add-ons that just feel like they should be basekit. A less powerful version of Iri Videotape should definitely be basekit, along with Telephone.
Maybe it's just me, but manifestation feels like it should be a chase power rather than a stealth power.
she still has to phase/unphase, so it's not that strong, and it can't cover multiple angles of approach like Artist. not as strong as Pyramidhead, Huntress, Slinger, and others with anti-loop abilities, but plays into her uniqueness.
so no, i don't think it's too strong nor unreasonable, nor would overly encourage W play.
-
agreed! yes please! Phantasm was one of those horror movies that captured my imagination as a kid! i want to kill as The Tall Man!
-
It should be basekit because it encourages healthy play.
-
Condemnation needs to be a threat.
While phased she should:
1) have no lullaby
2) be able to walk through pallets and breakable walls, and thus not be able to be pallet stunned while phased
-
You're not the only one, but that amount of change is more like a DbD 2. They'll only make small adjustments to the game we have .
Maybe one day

They are "working on it" for the very long time. @MandyTalk is always mentioned 'Steamdeck' at their comments, not Linux! If there wasn't a thing like Steamdeck, or steam wasn't trying to support Linux, or Steamdeck wasn't trying to use Linux, they would completely ignore us. It is their maximum interest for us all. I don't think they will accept but still I requested to refund.
well, thankfully Valve is pushing Linux, causing more widespread adoption and support. i'm grateful for that. but do what's best for you.
-
They've said they're working on it, so all we can do is wait.
If you don't want to wait, it's ok to go play something else.
I'm giving them until the anniversary, but I'm already pivoting to VHS
-
Funny enough! VHS DOES work on desktop Linux if you use the Flatpak version of Steam!
