Map offerings should BAN maps, not increase their chances.
No one should have the power to drag all the other players to one person's preferred map. Not to mention it's weighted 4 survs vs one killer.

Sadly, it still doesn't work. But here's a question: Where exactly do you launch the game from? I've tried researching elsewhere on my own, and saw suggestions that you don't launch the game from the Heroic Games Launch, that you're supposed to add Heroic to Steam as a non-Steam game and then launch Heroic from Gaming Mode. (This doesn't work for me either, as I just get an infinite loading screen when I try to launch Heroic from Steam Deck gaming mode.)
And here's something interesting. Just for giggles I tried launching DBD in my Steam, and I can actually get into the menus and play a tutorial match, but I can't get into a public match. I just get immediately DC'd after the offerings are shown. I don't suppose there's a way around that, is there? I've tried forcing the compatibilty layer and selecting Proton-GE-Proton7-55, but to no avail.
just FYI, DbD has been working the past few days on Steam just fine. how long it will last I don't know, but figured I should let you know just in case.

A DC should count as a kill. Simple as. Ppl should not be able to ruin your work by DCing.

sadly, the same is true for me, firepotato. I loved this game. But 1.5 years of dragging their feet is, frankly, insane.
I've lost all interest, when VHS had support on day 1.
What a waste and what a pointless shame.

It's been almost a year and half since this feature was possible, Mandy. A year and a half with no substantial communication. Steam Deck is a rousing success. Silence. STADIA is dead. Silence. Game worked for one day just fine. Silence.

Can you speak to this at all? Can the devs provide us with any kind of status update? Since ppl can play with the Proton EAC successfully using the Epic Game Store, but on Steam proper it is still not working. So why can't we play on Steam?

ok, so, i've decided i'm actually not going to update the main post with workarounds for EGS. i'm glad it's working for you and thank you for letting the community know.
but what i'm looking for, and what this post was originally about, was getting proper Proton/Linux/Steam Deck support for EAC for DbD. there's no reason DbD shouldn't just be 'install and play' on Steam on Linux.
that's what i'm looking for and that's what i'm waiting for.

Anyway, I'm here to help and here to test with you all. Also, I wouldn't take "developer silence" as a bad thing. I was testing Darktide recently, their official statement is/was that they don't support linux. In the time leading up to Darktide, they made improvements in Vermintide II; however, V2 isn't quite there.
During beta, people figured out how to make it work in with proton --- including steam deck. It currently works now on launch, and it worked throughout beta in linux via proton, though it's not officially supported, and they've not made a statement. They've expressed interest, but the community is on their own.
I suspect that, given that DbD is a mature game, it's non-trivial to figure it out. We have no idea what code has been built up over years to fight cheating. That's why Vermintide II one can only host on linux. Mods, apologies if that's off topic, but I thought that was relevant.

I'm confident they will get to it eventually, I just wish it was sooner.
Hopefully by the time Steam Decks are available in Japan and Stadia is retired.

The main menu doesn't mean it's working. You have to play a full real match.

Uninstalled both.
Installed Proton EAC Runtime.
Installed DbD.
Got to menus.
Disconnected from match with error 500.
No change.

i'd certainly like more communication, but as long as it eventually works i'll deal. it seems like they've put in enough work at this point that they will see it through, imo. but i won't rest easy until it's actually here and working.

Yeah, I want to stay optimistic and say it's right around the corner. The UI changes do tell me this will happen, at least for Steam Deck. I just hope they don't shut the rest of us out. As long as we can pass EAC, just let us play and spend money. XD

hmmm, I never try win 10 and 11, but on win 8 dbd runs better than debian for me. under win8 i have stable 60fps, under linux i have some fps drops
debian is usually pretty outdated. not sure which version you're running tho.
i only get the initial shader compilation stutter. everything after that is smooth as butter and better than win 10 for me. i'm on EndeavourOS, an arch-based distro.

Windows 10 and 11. Linux version ran better than both for me. Noticeably smoother. But Linux in general has less overhead than Windows does.
for reference my system is a 2700x, 32gb ram, 2060. So low end ish. Not a gaming beast but decent enough. Solid 120 fps after unlocking.
what res are you playing at? just curious.
