I think the question is, what is a fair match to you? I'm pretty sure they intended the game to be balanced around 2k + 2 escape and I've honestly been seeing that in many of my games, be it Killer or Survivor. Teammate skill levels (for me) are currently a little better than before the new MMR as well.
This has been my experience as well. Fairly even, lengthy, balanced matches (with the occasional aberration) resulting in what's usually at least 1 escape. Sometimes all, sometimes none. I haven't had a noticeably lengthy pattern of matches going strongly in one direction or the other.
-
The formula would make for interesting knowledge but how long would you give it before thousands of users began playing in artificial ways to exploit it?
Frankly I don't even like other characters' grades being public. It just needlessly complicates and makes everyone question things. All I want to know is how I myself am doing, I can tell if I'm in a match with people who are as good (or bad) as myself or not.

Im glad they were removed since i found out it was a guy from BHVR doing the voices and not Doug Bradley (Pinhead actor)
There are many many different cenobites throughout the films. The first has 4, the second has 5 (an antagonist becomes one) and then 3,4,5,6,7.8 have about 40000 mostly all stupid looking.
Im all for the voice line removal. Idc about the other so called "voices" because they're just breathing, but Doug Bradleys voice is iconic and the guy from the game dont sound like him. You could say well, this pinheads based on the 9th or 10th hellraiser film but if thats the case then people should hang their head in shame.
If they get Bradley on board to do the voice then id be happy with it, but some bozo that dont sound like him can naff off.
He sounded incredibly similar to me. Same inflection and everything. If the line didn't need to be changed from "we" to "I" I would have guessed that it might have been isolated audio from the film itself.
-
The line is badass. Within the context of the film and the characters themselves ("you asked for it whether you liked it or not, and now we're here to collect") it's awesome, and it was delivered extremely well in the game. I miss it and sincerely hope that it wasn't the juvie meme giggle crowd that forced them to remove it.
-
I guess I'm just confused. I believe that YOU all believe what you're saying (and I don't mean to imply that you're wrong), I'm just not really clear on exactly how it's all supposed to work still. So much of it remains a mystery, or contradictory, that I'm not sure how to interpret the whole thing. In general my matches have been better, but I still get the occasional total curb-stomper and wonder what I did or didn't do differently to trigger it.
-
I play as killer roughly 25-35 percent of the time. Do I need to adjust my comments on this forum to be 25-35 percent complaining to accurately reflect this?
-
Has this been proven? That the grade system is based on how much you play and nothing else? I haven't heard that before.
-
It's a little early to say that either of the other games would be fun but if you're not enjoying this game it's good to step away.
-
It would be funny if the game added a mechanic wherein teabagging at the exit gate caused the survivor to die.

Yes, there will always be a meta.
But just something different then what it's been for the last year or so would ve nice.
Also preferably i would want the difference between what's meta and what isn't to be smaller.
Right now more often then not if it isn't meta it's straight up bad. You wouldn't see the meta as often if other perks were atleast impactfull
Yeah I see what you guys are saying. It WOULD change up the playstyle from time to time. I guess I wish that the perks were, overall, more evenly powerful than they are. I mean again, who's going to throw a pebble when they can Dead Hard or Sprint Burst? Who's going to care about when someone's in the basement when they can be running BBQ (which is basically so OP there's essentially no reason for a killer NOT to use it)? I'd love to encounter a wealth of different play styles using different builds. Instead it's pretty much always the same couple of builds for each side. Even my stealth build (mainly aura reads) is somewhat common, at least to the point that everyone automatically assumes that I use it just to avoid the match.

Yep, well said. It really does seem like a lot of killers feel like getting a 4K every game is balanced. I really don't understand these people. I consider a 2K a good game. 🤷
To me (and this is subjective, as is the nature of the game) a good game is simply a solid back and forth that lasts ten minutes in which everyone ends up with a relatively close amount of points (more if someone was using a BP booster, sure).
If I win as killer and make 45,000 points to a survivor's 7,000, I'll be honest, I feel pretty crappy. If I die as survivor and I see that I made roughly the same 23,000 that the killer and all the other players made, I consider it a good match. I guess you can say that I like balanced gameplay with fair reward more than I like "winning".
-
I don't understand why more people don't just play this game for casual enjoyment and show relative disregard to the winning conditions. What I mean is that yes, "winning" (as defined by the game as escaping as survivor or getting kills as killer) IS satisfying, and it gives you more points as well. But SO many people seem to base such a huge portion of their enjoyment of the game on whether they "win", to the point that they don't seem satisfied otherwise. I don't get that.
I also don't get how many people look at this game as a "grind". If what you're doing during the grinding and what you do after the grind is the same - playing the same game with the same selection of characters on the same collection of maps - then how is it a "grind"? I can understand PERK grinding, yes. I get that sometimes you want to just hurry up and get the cool perk you unlocked and not sit there all day baby daddying one of your characters so that they get a bunch of points to find that perk before level 50, but beyond that, you're basically doing the same thing in this game no matter what the circumstances are.
I don't know. I don't begrudge people who think of the game as a chore, but if the only way someone feels that they can truly enjoy the game is to beat the other players and do so with all the best perks, why play at all? Isn't that kind of missing the point?

A real quick fix would be to just remove those spots as possible pallet spawn points. But considering this wasn't always an issue. I don't understand how hard it is to just go back to the old layouts that actually worked properly.
I have to agree.

Stable but stale.
Things change so slow. I would love to see a patch that gives a mayor overhaul/buff to like 60 perks.
I wouldn't even mind if 10 of them are grossly op and need to be tweeked down a couple of months later.
I just want a bit of chaos in the game. That i can accurately predict what my opponents build is makes it hard to enjoy long sessions of this game.
It's a real shame that a game with so much variaty feels so often the same
I understand your point and don't necessarily think that you're wrong, you have a valid opinion. But if they massively overhauled a bunch of perks, do you not feel that within a little while people would make meta builds out of THOSE perks and the problem would just repeat itself?
But as I said though, you're not wrong. There are what, 150 perks in this game? More? Yet you only ever see the same 20 or 30. I feel that we can use more things like "faster running" (for both sides) and less things like "sit in a terror radius for a straight minute so you can throw a distraction pebble".
-
I honestly love the game. I don't just love it, I adore it.
There are a couple of asterisks though: I'm playing on PC, so I don't have anywhere near the problems that my console brothers and sisters do. As a mostly lifelong console gamer I feel for them, it's not fun for glitches and what feels like foot-dragging to ruin your gaming experience. I also have my frustrations, such as dealing with killers like the Wraith and Ghostface. I know that a lot of people don't have any issue with them, I simply find them to be so prevalent and so profoundly cheap and repetitive (no terror radius, free hit, game over soon, yay) that whenever I get them - which is WAY too often - my enjoyment is significantly reduced and I just want to hurry up and get to a different match. Killers hate sweat squads (and I understand and empathize), I hate these two killers. I'd rather have Spirit every time.
Beyond that, and a few lesser frustrations like getting maps I don't like being forced to waste hundreds of thousands of BP on bloodweb items that I will literally never use, I'm enjoying the game greatly.
-
I solo survivor main because it is, to me, the funnest way to play this game. When I'm not getting overly sweaty or cheap killers I very much enjoy myself.
The other third of the time I main Doc because he's a badass, because I'm good with him, and because killers (unfairly, in my opinion) can get 2-10 times the BP of survivors depending on how good or bad a match is for either side. Sometimes I also just feel like venting some frustration.
-
I love The Game and don't want it to be disabled again (I'm in the minority on this, I don't care) but something should definitely be done about unbreakable pallets. That should never be allowed to occur. Turn the map off for the three minutes it would take to delete that pallet and then put the pallet back in some other time when you figure out what the problem was.

Im talking about everything match being a sweatfest. Super strong addons and super strong perks mixed with super strong items. I just want to use my billy meme build but instead i get gen rushed or tunnelled.
Yes, that's understandable. Most of us don't like SWF sweat squads, myself included.
-
Go over the cheapest killers to smooth out their balance
Return the fog
Give us back at least one Coldwind map set at night
Allow us to "sell back" unwanted bloodweb purchases for half price
Don't show map offerings on loading screen
Increase DC penalties
Bring back Pinhead's iconic line
Lower the cost of "legendary" skins so that buying a semi-extra character (Claire, Jonathan, etc.) doesn't cost three times the amount of the original character (or, when it's on sale, the cost of the entire game itself)
Fix killers being able to hit characters from around corners and several feet away from windows (er, uh, "latency")
Fix performance problems
Add more unique maps
Make map rotation more balanced and equal
Give facecamped survivors some extra BP to lessen frustration
Add bots / fully customizable offline matches
Make it easier to earn shards or lower shard costs
Do something about reported players that legitimately ruin the game for others, including some feedback to let us know that something has actually been done
Add an unhook rejection system
Add a universal way for killers to indicate "follow me"
Add more totems throughout the map
Do something to allow players to make more than half the BP on average that killers make
Redo the grade system to have four categories with five levels and just call the damn things "bronze, silver, gold, blood".

@DontNerf said:
Its not about it being difficult its about the matches being boring AF
I don't feel that they are. If they were I guess I'd go play something else for a week to slow my characters' advancement.
-
[BAD WORD] the Wraith and the fact that he shows up ten times a day now. All the powers in the world with few consequences, specific and often circumstantial requirements for counterplay, and no cooldown. I don't enjoy Wraith matches at all anymore. Not one bit. Same #########, different day. When I hear the bell my heart sinks and I think "Oh, yay. One of THESE matches".
[BAD WORD] the Wraith.
-
I had a match where all four of the survivors were Claudettes, only they actually really WERE identical. This must have been just before the glitch. They were toying with me left and right, making things very nonsensical and confusing.
I wiped out every one of them.
-
I don't care about "winning" in this game. I don't need to be number one. I don't want to be number one. I play to have fun and enjoy myself. Sometimes as survivor I focus on gens. Other times I focus on saves. Other times I focus on totems. Most times I try to do a mix of all of it. As killer sometimes I kill, sometimes I give escapes. I don't see the game as a "grind" nor do I feel that there's any purpose to rush to a certain skill level or maintain it once I get there. If I "win" I win. If I "lose" I lose. Either way I accept that the new SBMM is allegedly trying to ensure that I'm matched up with players that will keep most of my games enjoyably back and forth, and that's all I want.
-
I feel that Bond should be basekit but not anything that tells the survivor where the killer is. That should always be a perk IMO.
-
Yeah I face Wraith WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too often. Multiple times per day. Him and Ghostface. From there it goes down to maybe twice, once, or not at all for all the other killers.
That said, I've been asking this and no one's really given me a solid answer: How does one really use Spine Chill effectively? Alright, I see the notice that the killer is near and looking in my direction, but how do I know what to do next? No way to know exactly how close they are, or which direction they're coming from. At the end of the day it's basically just an alert that the killer is (possibly) coming in your direction, right? Then what?
-
I sympathize with anyone who's been disconnected and / or gotten a penalty for it. It's happened to a friend of mine, it's an unfair punishment. But when they had DC turned off it was living hell. Absolutely miserable. You don't like occasionally waiting five minutes to get into a match? Try waiting five minutes to get into a match, then having some ######### disconnect, then waiting another five minutes for another ######### to do the same thing, and repeat that about three or four times per hour. Usually because someone didn't like the map, or the items the survivors brought, or the offerings, or the way a character's cosmetic looked, or the shape of a branch, or the color of a tile, or the fact that their coin landed on tails instead of heads...
-
In what way are killers punished for camping and tunneling?
-
I think by now most players know that avoiding a camped victim is the preferred strategy, I still think that something just needs to be done to make things less miserable for the person sitting there unable to play their game.
-
Wraith, Leatherface, Ghostface and Trickster are the ones who camp me the most. I don't really recall seeing other killers camp as much. Maybe Hag and Demogorgon.
-
I don't normally agree with people who say "X map sucks, change it or get rid of it". I love RPD for example and don't want it changed at all. But - and I say this as a survivor main - Haddonfield is way too tricky for killers. The distance, multiple buildings, multiple height levels, and super long hedges and fences make navigating extremely difficult. That map is essentially a killer killer.
-
Yun Jin's new head is the very definition of beauty. I love it. Zarina's outfit is my favorite though.
-
What are "Twins"?
-
The community for this game is VERY toxic. It just is. I won't blame anyone specifically (I honestly don't have reason to anyway, I see it from both sides), it's just the nature of the game, and the nature of people being brought out by the nature of the game. The desire to win, and the asymmetrical and uneven abilities of each side, make a lot of people angry that something feels wrong or unfair. Then it's just a small step to get into anger, frustration, insults, and crappy behavior, which tends to have a cyclical effect. Crappy survivors upset decent killers (or vice versa), those killers overcompensate out of habit or revenge and ruin the day of someone else, then that person perpetuates the behavior in THEIR next game, and on and on. That's why I'm an unusually nice killer - I often allow full escapes, usually give the hatch, make a practice of saying at least "GG" after every match, and sometimes even go out of my way to say "great game guys, that was a tricky one" or "wow, great Leatherface, thank you for not camping" (in a serious manner, because that Leatherface didn't camp).
As for the face camping, it IS a valid strategy because it really does flip a switch in so many survivors to go out of their way to figure out a save. I've long since learned to ignore the camping unless I absolutely see a way to save, I won't get off gens or totems otherwise. The camping is essentially win-win for the killer. The problem is that it absolutely sucks for the person being camped, which is why I almost never do it myself. On a good day the fastest you can go from pressing the ready button to actually taking your first steps in a match is at least 2-3 minutes, and if you're camped all the way to struggle and then sit through the death animation, end game score, return to the menu, etc., that's at least another 2-3 minutes as well. That's 5-6 minutes bare minimum, which doesn't sound like a lot, but if it doesn't I challenge anyone to stand up and go stare at the wall and do nothing else for that entire time. That's basically what it's like to be face camped. Just a complete and total waste of time. You're being denied the ability to play your game, you get to suffer the frustration of knowing that you're going to likely lose and die, and all for essentially nothing. Any points you earned before the camping have instantly stopped, and if it happens early in the match the whole experience will be almost a complete and total waste of time. You'll get a couple thousand BP, tops. That sucks beyond belief.
So I do understand the killer's desire to camp, even if I generally don't do it myself. Would it win me some games I otherwise lose? Definitely, but I don't want to be that guy. I play this game for fun, and want other players - at least those who aren't begging for punishment by acting extremely obnoxious - to have fun as well. I don't see the need to deprive someone of their ability to play. I don't want to subject others to something that is literally the opposite of playing their game, just to slightly increase the enjoyment of mine. So I wanted to come up with a way for the camped survivors' experience to not be quite as miserable but also not make things any worse for killers either. A little extra BP (again, not like double their total score or anything, just a few thousand at most) will soften the blow a bit. I know I'd tolerate being camped much more if I knew I was actually going to get something other than anger and wasted time out of it. And the killer is completely free to keep playing exactly how they like. Some people may take issue with this, and I understand that, but to my mind this is literally the only solution that will fix things without making the situation worse for either side.
Please BHVR, PLEASE look into this. Camping is rising fast.

You could also just give the survivors something useful to do on the hook. A perk that let's you stun or blind killers who just hang around camping you. Seems like this wouldn't infringe on player agency or anything but I'm sure this would be somehow considered abuse by killer mains. It's there favorite thing to claim when discussing camping. Next to claiming camping shouldn't be fixed I mean
Your ideas are interesting, I just came to the possibility that I did because I was thinking of something that would accomplish the two specific things that make the facecamp debate a problem: Giving the camped survivor incentive to chill out and not be angry that their time is being wasted, and do it in a way that doesn't change the killer's ability to camp. To me a BP bonus is the sensible solution because it would be the smallest change and presumably satisfy both sides.
If I get hooked and camped within a minute of the beginning of the match I've just wasted five minutes getting into the actual game and have to wait several more to get back out of it, all for like 1500 BP. If that score was bumped to something like 5000 then I got SOMETHING out of it, and the killer still camped his way to a kill like he wanted.

That's a good question, I kind of don't recall since it was such a long time ago, literally probably one of my first 50 matches. I sort of think he did though. Yes I do, to the point that I wonder if there's not some linkage between killers and certain maps. I see Ghostface and Wraith on Ormond and The Game constantly. I see Trickster on Yamaoka a lot. I rarely get Pig on anything but MacMillan.

Actually...I like this idea and have proposed this in the past as well as giving the overall survivor team extra points for escapes, kinda letting them reap some rewards together as a team.. Doing this might alter the thought of just being a defenseless victim to "Eh, I'm at least keeping this f***er busy with them face camping me hard.
In general I do think survivors should get more BP than what they do now, especially if they do end up winning. I see nothing wrong with that.
Thank you. I appreciate that you and some others are in favor of the idea.
I seriously wish that the mods would pin this thread, not just because it's apparently rapidly becoming an issue but of course so the devs can see how various people feel the issue should be dealt with. I'd love it if they implemented the concept of a BP boost for the hooked survivor. I don't want nor care about or feel that I deserve any credit for throwing it out there, I'd be perfectly happy for them to just make the change and quietly announce that it's been made. That's all that would matter to me.
I play both sides and while I only ever, EVER camp if a survivor is absolutely begging for it (like playing hotshot and teabagging, flashlight clicking, etc., after I've clearly been nice enough to deliberately walk away so they have the chance to get unhooked and healed, something I do in part BECAUSE survivors get literally half the average BP points as killers, just as you said), my goal in addressing the issue would be to allow both sides to retain their preferred strategies without interruption, and simply adjusting the endgame score a little bit so that the person who has all of their agency removed on the hook is compensated for their time being wasted. That's all.
-
Daytime survivor queue - ten to twenty seconds at most. No real time to do anything else. Plenty of time to twiddle my thumbs waiting for every foot-dragger to ready up though.
Daytime killer queue - a minute at least on average, if it goes much past then I resign myself to playing survivor. I enjoy both, it's not a big deal. Sucks when I need high BP gains though.
Nighttime survivor queue - everything's reversed, takes at least half a minute or a minute. I use the time to straighten something in the house, pet my cat, grab a drink, etc.
Nighttime survivor queue - again, reversed. Maybe 30 second wait, tops.
Survivor by day, killer by night. The one constant is the lobby wait so buffoons can switch their characters thirty times and try to psych the killer out with a last second key.
-
I miss that line so much. Beautifully iconic and delivered very well. The voice actor they got was spot-on. I can only hope that it returns someday.
That said, silent Pinhead is still pretty damn spooky. I've seen his mori a few times (to others, not myself yet), not enough though in my opinion.

Gee only 4 facecamping/camping threads on the front page of General Discussion.
Your criticism if valid, but in a way it just shows how widespread the problem is getting.
I'll just do the same thing I do every time I see one of these posts: Mention my idea of giving camped survivors a bit of extra BP to make the situation more tolerable (call it "suffering" points) - a higher score multiplier if it happens early in the match and a low multiplier if it happens late in the match. That way survivors at least don't have to have their match totally wasted, killers can still employ their preferred play style without penalty, and everyone has the chance to earn a fair number of BP for their time investment. Win/win.
-
True, reported bug. I think all players right now are seeing fellow players in the lobby that are dressed in a way that matches their own characters' equipped cosmetics.
-
When I play Pig I try to encourage snoot booping. I'm not one for memes but I think that this one is just plain cute and I like encouraging sportsmanship. The thing is that I never know what to do afterwards, so I just farm and spare all the survivors who did it. Not a big deal to me, I can always play another match and make up the points. It's fun.
But, like the "waving on the hook" debate, everyone clearly has their own feelings on the subject. When I myself am in the position of booping and Amanda looks like she wants me to, I don't know what I'm supposed to do afterwards. Do I run? Do I follow her? Do I just nod and go try to win like normal? Should I try booping her again when I see her next time?
I've seen basically all permutations to this. Boop and one free chance, boop and free total escape, boop and help farm, attempt to boop and take a running slash, and worst of all: the FALSE boopers. They know who they are, and they shall have to live with their shame.
