I hate to be the bearer of bad news but survivor is very unplayable at all MMR levels but especially new. It is simply balanced too much for killer.
You can try Killer but that is the only way.

I mean, that's the whole basis of all these horror films...survivors trying to win when the odds are not in their favor. Halloween would have never been a popular franchise if he was just some random dude with no power over the victims. Granted, Scream literally is a regular person, but that's just a fan favorite because of how silly it is.
If we really want to be real to the movies, the protagonist usually wins at the end. Speaking of Halloween, Laurie Strode didn't die no matter how much Michael Myers tried.
But this is a game and both sides should have a fair chance at winning.

That is where it currently is I believe, 40/60.
However this is a point of contention within the community. I agree with you, I believe it should be 40/60 as well.
Why you think a killer should automatically have an advantage? Where is fairness, what to games actually being about skill? With an unbalanced game, losing or winning as survivor doesn't mean anything. And winning as killer seems unfair and undeserving.

Lots of things have the potential to do lots of things; that's not a good starting point for a nerf. If someone with 10-15k hours can do something amazing, you don't dish out nerfs because of it. You accept that that person is not representative of what 99.99% of players will encounter, let alone achieve, and move on because it's not actually a problem.
Blight's add-ons are the problem.
I mean that should still require attention like in any game. Even if it is a small percentage of players. If a few players can "break" the game, it should be changed just because some haven't learned how to do it. Imagine if a survivor could learn a trick and can use that trick to win thousands of matches (escaping every time). Would you actually think that is fair to play killer against that person, knowing you had no chance to win?
-
Some don't. His kit has the potential of being busted.
-
Yes, I loved how someone said it should disable killer powers too. Blight, Nurse, Huntress shouldn't be able to use their power right after a stun.

Please introduce me to the person winning thousands of matches as Blight without add-ons.
Momo and pretty much anyone that streams can get huge winstreaks. Killers are not balanced when you know how to play them.
-
Yes. No killer should be able to win thousands of matches in a game. A hundred matches should even warrant a nerf.

Nope. I only play past 11pm so I get survivors who know how to play the game. 100% killer always :)
You likely play during high survivor hours such as 4-10, When most friends are playing together. Solos end up getting a very short end of the stick during that time.
Games do seem unplayable when one survivor is mismatched due to autofill and/or doing challenges. That's what happens when your are down half a player off the bat.
It's literally 100% survivor bonus like 90% of the time. Solo players get the short end of the stick because the game is horribly balanced.
-
If Blight is overpowered wouldn't any killer compared to him seem bad?

This is really what it comes down to. Like what is a solo team supposed to do when they load in against a blight or nurse running four slowdown perks? You just die and there's no way you're winning those games. You shouldn't need to be in a organized group doing call outs and using clock maps to have a chance.
I wish more, including BHVR understood that.
-
Killer sided game. Noticed how the incentive has been 100% survivor throughout the event? Why would anyone want to play an unbalanced match as survivor?

Dude its an asymmetrical game. Its going to appear unbalanced to a lot of people because it has to be balanced as a whole across the player base. This is the reason there aren't a ton that gain traction.
It's pretty much universally agreed upon that solo is very unbalanced and unplayable. Complaints are pretty much everywhere.

They've been clear in the past that they have no way of filtering out hookicides. And since one early hookicide can doom the rest of the team, it actually inflates the kill rates by an indeterminable amount. Trust me, I wish they would get thrown out like DCs do.
If a match was already doomed (win for the killer), there is no reason to not count that other than to hide something.

@xEa said:

Well, that is certainly true and you already mentioned it: We dont know how high actual killrates are if we would include DC's. If it would be 60% or much more is speculation.
I doubt they would not count suicides tho. How would they be able to filter that?
Personally i dont have to watch killer streams because i play killer on my own, and i can confirm that loosing is very rare, especially compared to survivor. So yes, there is no room for dabate that killer win more then survivor, nobody with a sane mind would question that - especially with all the data we have.
I remember reading that somewhere they didn't. I think it's always been an attempt to keep killrates a secret.

Killer winrates range from 40-50% I think, mostly. Barring a few exceptions like chess merchant.
But just flatly going by 'winrate' is a bit of a misleading stat, since DBD also has what can be classified as 'draws' eating into the pie. Most important to know is whether killers are winning more or losing more, and across the board, they're almost all winning more than they're losing. I checked Nightlight the other day, and I found only three killers that lose more than they win: Nemesis (4.3 percentage points more losses than wins), Hillbilly (2.7 percentage points) and Singularity (1.1 percentage points).
The rest all won more than they lost.
Nightlight is a bad statistic to follow because it is biased. Only people upload matches they want included in the stats.
The only real stats we have is devs and it was like 60% but they admitted they don't count dcs or suicides. Many survivors suicide when the match is already lost or against busted killers with broken add-ons or when they abusing a mechanic. This means the stats are incredibly higher than that.
If you watch twitch, killer mains are always winning and survivors are usually losing. Most people experiences say survivors lose a lot and killers usually win.
We should stop thinking killers are only winning 50-60%. It's waaaay higher than that.
-
@Firellius said:
It's quite amazing that, statistically:
1) Killers average an above 50% killrate
2) Killers win more than they lose, on average
3) Killers perform better in high MMR than low MMR
4) Killers are able to string up wins in streaks in the hundreds
And not only do people still complain that killer is not strong enough, but there's even people saying the game is 'very survivor-sided'.
Except that killers can string up wins into the thousands. I think the Blight streak is almost to 2 thousand!
And the killer win rates is way higher than 50% actually.
-
Really proves how broken the game has become while BHVR continues to follow the sheep with survivor nerf after survivor nerf and killer buff every time we see a new dev talk. The game deserves to die with how badly unbalanced it is. No other game can someone win like that.
No killer main can switch to survivor and do a win streak. They actually don't exist.
There is living proof everywhere the game is totally busted in favor of killer.
-
Everything has been nerfed that made the game enjoyable. MMR makes the game a sweaty hell. Without a 4 man SWF there is no chance of escaping unless the killer actually plays "nice" and fumbles hard due to how much the game has become unbalanced.
Survivor is totally unplayable nowadays and nothing being done about. It's either always 4K, survivor giving up, etc. that's every game.
-
Ruining a game deserves harsh criticism.
The game has become unplayable and unfun actually.

The fact that you consider an extra hit you take, the following speed-boost and the recovery the killer has to go through "nothing" suggest me that either the only option that would satisfy you is being teleported down from the hook, and getting fully healed by a basekit mechanic.
Either that, or you have a skill issue so massive that you can't even perceive it.
You act like that is so much for the killer. It's so easy to just hit someone off the hook and woala now they have no BT or tunnel protection.
If the mechanic worked, why is it that killers tunnel more?

Did you delete basekit BT and HUD update from your memory? Also anti 3 genning mechanic will be introduced soon. But yeah devs only care killers.
They all do nothing, Killers can hit you to deactivate BT and killer tunnels. There's zero chance that 3 gen thing will do anything because some exploit will be in place for killers. Like standing directly above a hook.
-
They only care about killers.
Wasting no time buffing Trickster and literally every killer but when it comes to survivors it's like they are scared. It's so weird.

Are you just making the argument on the base of the theme but not the mechanics? You do realise that does not make much sense right?
It doesn't make sense for one side to have a massive advantage in a PvP game.
Aura reading favors killers too much.

I don't think it has anything to do with the role you play, it is just mostly generally consensus.
We always forget about general consensus as soon as we talk about fairness. Killers with a supposedly tremendous advantage in game because it's a horror game.
So, aura perks is like cheating. If killers have a big advantage why should they always know where survivors are?
-
@Archol123 said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3607576#Comment_3607576
Sorry to break it to you, but this game just has nothing to do with horror or surprise or what not after you have spend like 100 hours in it...
Killer mains love to say that only when it's convenient. As soon as we discuss balance and fairness it's all -"muh power role, killers supposed to be feared 'cause it's a ....horror game'
-
And without distortion, the killer pretty much has 24x7 wallhacks on your position. That's off the chart levels of frustration.
Aura reading is a problem in itself.
-
Well said. Endless survivor nerfs, killer buffs, and turning maps into dead zones has basically ruined the game.
Literally every survivor match is a 4K and killers spam regression on top of that.
BHVR always buffs killers. Regression was nerfed and survivor healing and perks destroyed. Then turned around and buffed regression perks. Why wasn't healing buffed too?
All of these have compounded over time and destroyed any balance that was left.
-
Understandable. Survivor is not playable with how broken killers are.

In fighting games, a 6/4 matchup (aka 60% vs 40% winrate) is considered completely normal, and their skill doesn't suddenly "mean nothing." There is no point in being hyperbolic about a minor statistical advantage.
It's not minor. 15-20% inherent advantage is broken.
Besides, killers that know how to play can actually win over a thousand matches non-stop. Imagine that happening in ANY other video game. That community would be completely distraught. Something seriously needs fixing with the balance of DBD to make it fair. Survivor is nowhere close to having fair chances.
-
Sounds fair to me. Not sure why they don't do this.

Then don't play, it's a 1v4 so it's going to be "unbalanced" for a reason. go play apex if you want fair 1v1s.
Just because it is 1v4 doesn't mean the 1 has to have such an advantage that the skill of the 4 means nothing.
-
@pseudechis said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3592233#Comment_3592233
While you have a valid opinion I'd say that it only really holds true if you value game outcome over game play.
The whole killer power fantasy is part of the draw for playing killer in the first place. Without it DBD loses an integral part of what it means to take on the role of the antagonist.
Why isn't it just red team vs blue team? One side has to fix the gens while one side has to stop them being fixed?
Because there is an overlay called theme and a big part of that theme for DBD is playing as the monster. Its not a stretch by any sense that playing as the monster should feel appropriately monstrous.
Ok, but what about survivor fantasy? This argument seems always viewed from one side. This is a video game, not like a thematic simulator where the killer is supposed to automatically win. It doesn't feel good to play as survivor and knowing the killer is less skilled but winning because of cheese mechanics, etc. Right now the game is like that with huge killrates.
-
Its not balanced or fair. Games are supposed to be about skill. And fun.
The power role fantasy killer mains have about killer is an excuse to minimize skill in a video game for the purpose of feeding own ego.
It's not fun losing by default as one of a game.
-
Omg!!! I thought it was a joke at first. It is actually real this time.

MFT has been out longer than UW so not a fair comparison, and plenty of killer players agree UW is at least the strongest killer tracking perk, even if they won't admit its overpowered.
You also ignore and/or do not mention the several other killers perks, add-ons and powers that have been nerfed, such as Eruption, Pop, Pain Res, Spirit add-ons, Nurse add-ons, Xeno tail, Skull Merchant. Not to mention the introduction of the HUD and the AFC system.
It doesn't give your argument a lot of credibility when you ignore basic provable facts to support a false narrative.
Does it really mean anything MFT came out slightly before another perk? It sounds like you are having a hard time justifying this.
You can go on and name a small number of things for killers that have been nerfed, but it is a proveable fact that quadruple of things been nerfed on survivors while killers are all buffed constantly. Now it is Trickster.
You were just rambling.
-
Nothing is -ever- enough. Apparently it just isn't easy enough to 4K all the time. It's actually sad seeing perks constantly nerfed to oblivion.
Isn't it ironic a broken perk like UW is not being nerfed? Killers own this game.
-
That's what happens when you balance around bad killer versing top experience SWF that are coordinated. The game is insanely too killer sided.

It's not the haven for survivors it used to be. I ran into a bully squad the other day and pieced them up on their last generator. The good news for killer matches like this is that they aren't the horrendous experiences they used to be. That team, in old DBD, would have ended the game in about seven minutes total with pallets and flashlights to spare. Close to five if they ran a few BNPs or gen perks.
They did run one DS and used it aggressively that game. Lost track of the time, it had to be around forty seconds or so. At the end of the game I left the last two slugged and guarded one because that's what you have to do if you're playing in a competitive mindset. I don't think nuSurvivors remember but that's what had to happen because squads would run unbreakable, ADR, and DS.
The culture around DBD has changed. I like that it's less competitive because then I just play a good host as killer and try to give my survivors a good time, but when I see groups like that it's hard for those instincts not to kick in. The first person I knocked out I started giving targeting priority too just to have one person out. It would take about eight or nine more minutes for the game to end so they're just waiting on their party to finish the stall-grind.
A slight buff to survivor would probably help overall, but bringing back survivor sided perks and mechanics won't be the way forward on that and I don't think that'll bring people back to the game.
I don't think it has ever been a haven for survivors, but devs have balanced around top survivors -but- not doing the same for killer. Most survivors, according to when I do play, never see the gates opened. There is even proof that killers are insanely more overpowered such as Blight with a thousand winstreak. Solo survivors have no way to use any skills to win because ALL of it has been nerfed. Even self-care or the solo survivor part of Circle of Healing. Why should an essential survival perk -require- a SWF? This is -why- it is not as popular and until BHVR tries to start balancing more and make the game actually accessible to everyone then they'll never bring players back. 100% survivor bonus.
The game is soooo stale. You basically know within 30 seconds of the game starting how it is going to pane out. Oh, it's a Blight that has Lethal Purser and downs your teammate before you even have time to find a gen. That is so unbalanced.
-

He's popular because he's exceptionally well-designed, has a very high skill ceiling, and rewards players for getting good with him. As opposed to a killer like Billy who also has a very high skill ceiling but performs poorly when compared with killers who are much easier to play.
There's also an argument to be made that Blight and Nurse are the only two balanced killers in the game. They're the two killers that actually stand a fair chance to win on most maps, even assuming survivors don't make any critical mistakes, when played moderately well. Most other killers will get destroyed on 95% of maps even with perfect play if the survivors play moderately efficient.
Also, his techs are easier to counter than playing him how he was meant to be played. A bump logic only Blight can outplay almost any non-god pallet in the game.
"...and rewards players for getting good with him"
The rewards is never lose? Really? You know blight mains can win thousands of a matches. This has been discussed and posted a lot. The skill of all those survivors were simply minimized because of a player learned a little tech with a broken killer. I don't think that is balanced, it wouldn't be allowed in any other game except kill simulator Dead by Daylight.
