You can't miss more than two shots with Unknown before Weakness wears off typically, so I don't see where this idea comes from. If The Unknown hit you in the first place, it means the killer is at least capable of hitting a shot, and there aren't many places where a hit is guaranteed like Huntress, who's considered to have a massive skill ceiling for those going for long shots.

Missing shots with Unknown already comes with a decently long cool down on reload and you get slowed down, how is it that a buff to hitting shots rewards players that can't? It's not like you can spawn Hallucinations while using UVX either, so that's the other part of your power being solwed by missing. This change just allows Unknowns who can get those hits to down in 3 shots instead of four as was often the case in the PTB, which felt terrible as a killer. I don't really see the issue tbh

I can't really comment on The Unknown since I haven't versed him, but I think it's unhealthy how the other killers are basically getting buffed so there is no punishment for missing.

  • @glitchboi said:

There's literally zero context for this post so I can't tell if this is referring to the Huntress buffs (which were addressed in the developer update) or the Unknown's power in general.

I think he saying they are making killer a very braindead gameplay. There is no punishment to missing or making mistakes.

Huntress is a great example with giving her 7 hatches. Even with 5 hatchets, you really got to be horrible skill to not hit someone twice with 5 chances.

But look at Myers. He's not at all as strong as he is in the Halloween series, but he's undeniably faithful--The fact survivors need to constantly be watching for him in the background, the way he can erupt into violence and lethality at a moment's notice after being completely unseen, how he needs to spend time watching survivors rather than blindly going full-force into an offensive? It's an amazing adaptation even if he's weak. This is also true of, say, old Freddy--It perfectly encapsulated the feeling of isolating a survivor into his world, even if it wasn't as strong as he actually is in his home series.

I agree that Myers was well adapted but he is far from weak. Insta-shot, insta-kill, are very difficult to counter.

  • There is a thing called balance. Similarly, look how puuny Jill and Leon is. They are such a small shadow of their capabilities in Resident Evil. Nothing was brought over.

  • It's not fun losing against something overpowered in a video game.

  • It's unplayable and BHVR doesn't care.

  • @mikewelk said:

It's not to skew the data, they just realized how busted Huntress is and there's no denying it. I would do the exact same because I didn't play the PTB to experience huge buffs to an already balanced killer that came from the devs having a brain fart or something along those lines.

    https://twitter.com/RNIN_St1v1/status/1759992506056425727?t=YZtjl7BtrgqQfmgcCkML9w&s=19

    Try to justify this video.

That video is unbelievable. And we asking why survivors are not wanting to play?

  • I haven't figured out why survivors still play the game. I would find another game that is more rewarding and that the devs actually care about a fun and fair experience. It's very discouraging for survivors to never get any content and it's nerf, nerf, nerf, while killers get buff, buff, buff.

  • @Hunkulese said:

No. The game is in a pretty good spot right now. Probably the most balanced it's ever been. Gamers just want to complain.

Solo queue is also fine. I escape more often than not, and they already buffed it with the UI indicators. All they need to do is let us see everyone's build and it'll be perfect.

    I hope you are joking.

That experience doesn't align to the majority.

  • The problem is people keep buying garbage.

  • Poor balancing from BHVR.

    Everything fun gets nerfed.

MMR causes people to sweat like their life is on the line.

    Killers are too strong.

It's impossible for survivors to win unless the killer is very bad at the game.

Match outcome is usually determined early in the game causing people to forfeit in most games.

New players have too steep of a learning curve which is overwhelming, especially for survivors.

BHVR priority should be making BOTH sides of the game have equal efforts in winning. It needs to feel that way as well. It is simply comical how easy it is to win as killer but impossible when you switch to survivor.

I think the game will continue to die unless changes are made to address these points.

  • I don't think they messing up balance for the reasons you say, but rather they don't want to work on the game anymore. They do everything they can to alienate their biggest player base and then ignore them.

People are screaming that survivor is unplayable, the player counts are decreasing and nothing being done. Not sure, but it's obvious what they are doing.

  • @Zerochill said:

I don't think they made it so that killers have easy games. It's certainly a different experience, but the number of broken survivor combos can't be just brushed off

4 survivors with no coordination are easy pickings, but about 80% of the killer roster is unusable for mid to high skill survivors

I think that's the intention though considering their smug reactions to survivor issues. They want killers to win most of the time which really means they want it easier.

Just because you don't win 100% of the time with a killer, automatically, doesn't mean a killer is unusable. A few killers are so unbelievably broken beyond belief that it has caused a mindset that some killers are bad. In reality, those killers are a little closer to fair game.

  • MMR is basically amplifying the problem. An asymmetrical game is supposed to be balanced towards the 4 with RNG elements that can allow it to sway either way.

What BHVR has done that has ruined the game is making the game easy for killer so new killers can win against SWF. Basically removing the skill expression from survivors so there is not any skill with survivor vs killer. The killer wins no matter what in a 1v1. This is horrible in gaming because nobody wants to play when you know your skill is going to mean nothing.

Survivors seem to only win if they can coordinate a genrush and the killer is lacking the skill or makes mistakes. In essence, the skill of the killer is the only thing that matters in a match. You see this clearly in solo q. This is very bad and devs are not doing a good job with addressing that.

  • @The_Krapper said:

It wouldn't take much for them to fix the issue but sadly here we are, in my opinion they went wrong when they decided to find ways to extend the trials without adding anything additional, you can only hold m1 for so long before you finally play something else and realize what a real game is supposed to feel like, there's a reason the devs tell us to "play something else" when we're tired of it and it's because they don't care they've already made more money than they ever thought they would when this all started

I will always believe the devs that work day to day on the game are trying to kill it by making the game as unbearable, impossible as possible for their largest player base. It really is not hard to see that. They even ignore and totally dismiss complaints of it. In customer service, that is a big no no.

  • The game has been destroyed for survivors. I can't hold my stomach playing anymore.

They made the game into ez win simulator for killers while removing all skill expression from survivors.

  • It's a nerf. This is the consistent power creep for killers.

40% regression even without any perks. Didn't they make gens take longer how many times?

The math is atrocious for survivors when you look at it.

  • Yes, survivor is not a playable way to play the game.

  • @ChaosWam said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3636897#Comment_3636897

Nobody said it wasn't an issue, the problem was it was a MASSIVE issue before the nerf and didn't really fix the intended flaw to begin with. In fact, I remember back then most killers just committed to getting DS'd because swapping targets risked even more active DS strikes. So why not tunnel the one and get the 1k at the very least?

The problem is DBD, whether we like it or not, has these design flaws by the nature of the game itself. Throwing overpowered perks, combinations and broken strategies isn't going to solve it across the board on either side.

It is just a massive pet peave for me there is double standards to balance. In almost every case, the feelings of the killer is always the most important.

A survivor hung by a NOED totem is no less of a problem than a survivor using their one time perk to escape at the end of the match. It is simply wrong to nerf one for reason X without looking at similar situations for the other side.

  • @MrDrMedicman said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3636870#Comment_3636870

The decisive strike nerf was for exactly that. Because survivors abused the hell out of it. The same reason instant blinds got nerfed, because they punished the killers participating in fair gameplay with no real counter besides running lightborn 24/7.

It was a deserved nerf, but they don't actually understand balance so they only nerf. They honestly need to buff the massive backlog of survivor and killer perks

Again, you can argue killers using slow down perks is "abuse".

Slugging could even be considered abuse.

  • @ChaosWam said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3636870#Comment_3636870

Sorry but I need to roll my eyes every time I see someone say it was entitled killers that got DS nerfed.

It was bully squads all running it every match to bodyblock, stop other chases and guarantee escapes at the endgame with combinations where the killer couldn't make any other choices.

You could argue it was overnerfed and should have been kept at 5 seconds to compensate for the drop time, but let's not pretend there were broken combinations abused by SWF teams. If you wanna be mad, be mad at SWF.

Why is it so bad for a well equipped SWF noobstomping a killer with help of a perk, however it remains unaddressed for a well equipped killer to noobstomp survivors?

Both is considered bullying in your description.

A killer that camps and guarantees a kill in endgame with or without assistance of perks could be considered bullying to the one survivor since it is uncounterable.

  • @MrDrMedicman said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3636668#Comment_3636668

Decisive strike got gutted because players were abusing it. It was added to counter tunneling and was used as an extra healthstate against killers who didn't tunnel.

Either the killer, playing fair btw, hits the ds blodyblock and loses the other guy, or they eat the ds and still lose the other guy

I wholeheartedly disagree. BHVR nerfed decisive strike because killers are entitled to winning and devs are oblivious to their game and blindly do what the community (killers tell them). Yes, they do a little here and there to help survivors but this is more of a ---look here, we are doing something ---. Take 3 genning for example. If they are trying to solve a problem of killers abusing a strat, why did they buff killers all over again? The 5% gen regression and increased difficulty of stopping the regression is a huge buff for killer. Another exploit of that non-thoughtout buff will be: how will survivors cope with a doctor that prevents survivors from being able to stop the regression. 8 times x 5% equals %40 regression per gen without any additional perks.

    So why?

There is complaints everywhere surviving is next to impossible without being in a pro team. Why did devs just make it even more difficult? And, they are allowing a broken combo to go live that will basically prevent survivors from completing gens.

I would like to be wrong but this sounds like devs are trying to kill off the game.

  • Just lose I guess.

Survivors are only in the game for fodder.

  • This may be a weird take, but I believe BHVR is actively trying to kill their game.

It's like a worker protesting to a parent boss by purposely making bad food.

This is why Skull Merchant is like she is. Blight is not being really nerfed despite players being undefeated in the game with him. Why is Decisive Strike nerfed to like it is currently? Blight, Nurse, and a few other killers have no negative reactions to this. They laugh at decisive strike users.

The best way to cause a game to die is to ruin the balance for the majority (overbuff killers) or ignore broken killers, and allow the survivors be as miserable as possible.

I'm honestly very surprised the game is still played as much as it is. Tunneling and watching survivors lose all the time is not really entertaining to watch.

  • When killers know how to play they are unstoppable, the game is much easier for Killer. Survivors tend to win strictly by luck. Killers win big winstreaks and survivors cannot. It is obviously killer sided when you look objectively. I have never understood how anyone thinks survivor has fair chances in the game.

  • This game will probably bleed players at a faster rate. It simply continues to get more and more unplayable.

Momo is also some one who uses the absolute best of the best add on and perk combo to achieve this, and hes against teams with a wide variety of skills thanks to how inconsistent matchmaking is.

There is several problems with that.

    1. Anybody can be momo with practice. He just happens to be known.

    2. If a killer can achieve win rates like that, it should be addressed. Just because you are good doesn't mean it should invalidate the chances of the opponent.

    3. What would happen to survivors if they could be undefeated? Or win hundreds of matches in a row for using an item? To my knowledge solo survivors are unable to do a win streak at all which is simply unacceptable.

With what is known, the game has no fair playing field.

  • @Astel said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3631999#Comment_3631999

He is playing Blight, who is obviously broken killer. Most of the killers are much weaker than Blight. And that win streak is made in pub while he is very good blight player and we all know DBD's mmr is screwed up. If survivors are not strong in high levels, why there are many limitations in tournaments for survivors while killers have almost none?

The fact that someone can always win means it is possible. Don't you think with MMR he should lose sometimes if the game was more fair? It is not only Blight that can always win.

  • @Astel said:

If both killer and survivors are less experienced, killer is in better position.

If both killer and survivor are experienced ones, survivors are in better position, especially when they are in SWF.

Considering you are new, you will be the case where killer is in better position.

Pentimento is noob stomper. If survivors have enough experiences to know how Pentimento works, it doesn't do much because they will cleanse Pentimento totem right away since you can know the position of totem by the sound when it first cleansed.

It is Anti Face-camp system, not anti-camp system. It is only meant to stop face-camping, not proxy camping.

Survivors have enough amount of useful perks. And these perks help you to overcome killers doing tunneling, proxy camping, and 3-genning.

This is objectively wrong because very good killers have proven they can win regardless of what the survivors use. Momo is undefeated as a Blight main, for example. If SWF truly is strong, he and other good killers would lose. It simply has no logical reasoning to think high experienced goes to survivor. It seems to be killers are overpowered in both lower skill and high skill too.

I agree with OP that the game has severe balance issues and it really is mind boggling why it is not addressed.

  • @Rudjohns said:

It's funny how every single killer player doesn't like when the game starts and a gen pops in like 1 minute

But nobody talks about how a Nurse can use Lethal Pursuer to down a survivor in 30 seconds

Then people are forced to stay in the game? Give me a break

Wait until her, Blight, Hillbilly uses the new Grim Embrace perk too. Gens will never get done.

It's very bad when survivors do a gen but it's ok for killers to decimate just because they know the killer.

  • Rewards are better than punishments. Why not buff hatch and keys to gives survivors a second hope to remain motivated? Or buff survivors in general?

It's a video game that is supposed to be fun. DC penalty causes more harm than good.

It gives the killer free reign to grief survivors. Killers can take advantage of this. The killer has a substantial ability to grief.

If players knew they had to be sportsmanlike to keep their opponents in the match, it will be so much better.

  • The problem is the perception that there is no winnable outcome because of imbalances.

A casual survivor that gets sniped by a Huntress at the beginning of the map or rushed and downed by a Blight with 15 seconds means survivors will likely not win. People know this.

Devs have severely damaged the game by nerfing survivors too much and allowing killers to power creep out of hand.

  • @DrDucky said:

Killer techs also do get patched out (take chucky's 180 flick) so I don't really understand this line of argument. This is far worse then that though since chucky gets a hit out of it, with this survivors can deny certain perks entirely.

He has a valid point. There's significant double standards in the community and even the devs when acknowledging and addressing exploits on both sides.

Blight has had exploits, unintentional maneuvers and they are still not addressed.

It is very concerning that a dev was quick to engage in this conversation but they never engage when discussing Blight.

  • No.

Unfortunately BHVR is only interested in giving killers good content. (ie. Chucky, Xenomorph, Ultimate Weapon, Friends til the End)

The perks for Alan Wake is a disgrace. I know I have no interest in buying.

  • I don't think fairness is important to the devs.

Unbalanced in the wrong direction you mean. How often do you see a survivor DC when they are overwhelming winning? (Outside a crash of course.) You may see the killer DC but does your excuse work for them? No, they be ridiculed as pathetic, just like survivors that abandon their team.

I don't know what you mean by survivor DCing when they are overwhelming winning?

You have to compare killers giving up compared to survivors. I think considering that survivors are the ones that often have no will to play it stands to reason the game is unbalanced very much against survivors.

  • @Astel said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3627780#Comment_3627780

One survivor giving the information of location of other survivor to killer can be bannable behavior as I know. I don't think this case should be really considered.

I didn't say that lockers are always near exit gate...? Not sure why are you saying like that. And the case that two gates are that closed to each other is very rare according to my experience.

Sole Survivor is very strong perk in the situation that you need to open the exit gate when you are alone as it increases the speed of opening exit gate by 50%. I remember that once there was a post that claims Sole Survivor can be very strong due to this case.

I said that because lockers would be required near the gate and for the gates to be perfectly spread out with much distance for one survivor to open them when killers have tracking perks. Since this is unlikely, I think the perk is not very good.

It may be bannable but they don't ban without proof which is understandable but most people don't have the luxury of always recording their games so the killer taking advantage of slugging at the end normally never causes the killer to get banned.

Still, if sole survivor was a good perk, it would be used often and there would be a lot of complaints.

  • @Astel said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3627764#Comment_3627764

Stealth will let you to survive until the other survivor to bleed out. If killer has UW, you would have already known, so you can avoid screaming by hiding in locker. Also, Sole Survivor has distortion effect which can be widened to maximum of 72m, almost making you immune from killer's aura reading perks. Even if the killer slugs other one, 48m is enough to hide you from aura perks.

Killers with game sense will always find the last survivor. They even go so far as let the third person off their shoulders to help find the last survivor if they get mad which means no counterplay for survivor.

Ultimate Weapon has no counterplay other than lockers but you assumed they are everywhere and near the gates. What if the gates are closed to each other?

You also have the annoying factor. It's universally shared that NOED is annoying and unfun to verse. Sole Survivor is weak and so rarely used because it is situational that killers really don't complain about it. If it was useful, killers would complain.

  • @Astel said:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/KRM43CCEK0ON/image.png

Doesn't this perk give benefit to the survivor for failure(death of teammates)? This perk will help you to open the gate faster when the hatch is closed, and usually escape is considered as win as survivor...

In theory you are correct, but how effective is it compared to NOED?

The killer meta basically doesn't allow survivor to win with that perk either. What if the killer slugs the third to find the last survivor with sole survivor? What if the killer has Ultimate Weapon? There is still no win opportunity for survivor despite the survivors all losing.

  • @humanbeing1704 said:

Noeds been hated for 7 years and probably always will be

Imagine if a survivor perk was hated for 7 years.

I've searched hard and I've never found a survivor perk that can turn around and win the game after the survivors have failed miserably.

  • That's basically a symptom of an unbalanced game.

You might want to play the game but it seems the others already know the match is lost which is a problem with the game.

Killers keep being buffed without any regards to fair gameplay for both sides. Both sides want a fair chance at winning and only one side(the killer) is the only one that can do that.

  • Imagine if this was turned around and the killer couldn't play the game.

    Gentapping was apparently ""unfair"''.

Yet, in the same video game survivors can be slugged and prevented from playing the game. Also, as OP pointed out, he could have been more like the norm and let everyone bleed out for minutes. Why no forfeit option at least? Killer enjoyment is always taking priority.

Double standards is why this game is dying unfortunately. Too much favoritism for one side.

  • It's what happens when a dev teams listens to a tiny, loud minority that has optimized the game perfectly. I've seen so many games die because it is inaccessible to new and casual players and DBD is that game now. The proof is solo gameplay or casual SWF as you said. BHVR doesn't care. Their response to solo game sucks is basically the players fault. No responsibility.

2019 was a perfect year because the game grew until that year, but has been dying ever since. The new update is repeated pattern of killer buffs and survivor nerfs.

DBD needs a new dev team that understands what made it popular years ago.

Low confidence since the anti-camp mechanic was specifically designed so killers can easily circumvent it (ie. standing outside a small radius and tunneling)

well, because it wasn't anti-camp mechanic

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/QP28UYDINI29/image.png

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/D4F19ZBDU3Z7/image.png

So instead of standing directly in front of the survivor, killer stands slightly farther away. When survivor is unhooked, they chase them down again.

    It didn't accomplish anything.

  • Sources of frustration is overlooked. It is very sad it has manifested itself like this.

For killers, sources of frustrations are usually remedied by the devs: longer gen times, nerfed healing, hatch standoffs, perks generally nerfed, etc.

Survivors hardly have frustrations looked into: hopeless matches as in the case of Wesker with slowdown perks is overkill in public games, killers that slug for bleedout timers to expire, tunneling, slowdown perks, exploitable killers such as Blight and Skull Merchant.

They are finally looking at the 3-gen exploit but who knows if it will work. Low confidence since the anti-camp mechanic was specifically designed so killers can easily circumvent it (ie. standing outside a small radius and tunneling)

Playing as survivor is extremely challenging like no other, unfun, and has no rewards to staying in matches because there is no options in bad matches to have a positive outcome.

  • @Hunkulese said:

It sounds like you just need to get better at chase. Running the killer around the map is the most fun you can have as a survivor and you definitely feel like you contributed to a win if you looped them while multiple gens got done. If you ran the killer for 13 minutes and your teammates just crouched in a corner, you still had fun for 13 minutes.

If you really want to win games as a solo survivor, get really good at chase but then try and avoid getting chased and prioritize getting the right gens quickly. If you slam gens and then can't get caught when they find you, you'll win a lot more than you'll lose, and you'll definitely feel like you had an impact on the game. Just keep at it and stop worrying about the outcome of every individual game. You'll improve if you focus on what you did wrong instead of always blaming the killer and your team.

You missed the point. I'm blaming the balance and not the killer or survivors.

You are being very disingenuous. Its not possible for a killer to chase someone for 13 minutes unless they don't use their power or don't press m1. It's also an unlucky number.

I play solo queue survivor all the time and enjoy it. There's a ton of fun to be had as a survivor. You won't win every game and you'll have bad teammates fairly often, but none of that really gets in the way of having fun unless the only way you can enjoy yourself is by winning.

I'm also not sure what streamers you're watching, but most of the well-known ones have no trouble escaping if they really want to.

It's not about winning but how winning not anything related to performance of the survivor. It not an accomplishment to lose most of your matches but win the one match because killer allowed it. Of all the times I rarely won as survivor I never felt it was anything I did. It was RNG. Even if you do 3 or 4 gens without getting caught you still lose because the killer slugged or denied an escape using endgame perks. The games are not fun either with endless tunneling, slugging, and people suiciding.

The streamers don't play solo, they only play with other high experienced players and they only win against killers with far less experience or let them win out of pity because of who they are.

When you know how to play killer you can break the game with anything.

There is numerous people getting huge winstreaks with any killer. The game is very unbalanced.

  • BHVR destroyed the enjoyment from survivor with nerfs followed by nerfs. Based on my perception, survivor mains have all abandoned the game and the only population remaining is killers and those killers play survivor or with their friends only. I don't think anyone can say they play survivor with a straight face and say they enjoy it.

Survivors that do stream show so much disgust. Their skill pays almost nothing in a trial.

Killers, on the other hand, proudly touts their huge winstreaks or relaxing while everyone dies.

Also, I don't think it's even possible to play as a new survivor and win. I really really don't. This is why nobody wants to play survivor.
