If it was a regular match in solo queue against Pinhead you probably would have died anyway for what it's worth.

Sad news. All there is to say.

100% agree. There is no end in sight though which is sad. Fortunately MHR has kept me entertained and busy and now my cheap ass finally bought Dead Island 2 so it's GG for now.
Side note: Can't believe NOED is still considered cheap. What does the perk need now a 30 second deletion timer? Good lord people.
The only thing I think cheap about noed and I don't blame killers for this, but I played a game where I was camped on hook and the killer grabbed someone saving me off the hook. Then wapped the other dude with noed.
Something just didn't sit right with me when that happened. Again, not a killer issue but a game design issue. Maybe I have more of a problem with hook grabs. Not sure.
-
I run a hex build of ruin, undying, pentimento, and plaything. It can be fun and work well some games.
-
I think basement and hooks being killed off when a survivor dies are two wayyyy outdated game mechanics that couldn't leave the game any sooner (but probably never will).
Add healthy grabs off of hooks while you're at it.
-
I just laugh at hate mail and brag emails. Had a survivor voice chat brag post game. I just laughed and said gg good luck in future games and moved on.

Maybe because you dont play Survivor?
@Topic:
Myself not so much. Maybe 2 out of 10 times? However, another Survivor being camped or tunneled, at least 7 out of 10 times.
Yeah. I try my best not to be found first (with sometimes not great success). Not great at estimating how often to be honest, but someone being tunneled out if not once every 2-4 matches maybe.
I want to win as killer, but unless there is a challenge where I have to kill 3 people in a match, I try not to tunnel or camp at all. I've even camped less at end game lately. I'd just rather try to spread hooks out and chase everyone at least once. If survivors want to mash gens and have a five minute match, oh well.
I just wish killers were rewarded more by how many hook states than the quick tunnel/camp get it down to 3v1 strategy that is so strong. I get why they do it though. It works and they want to win games too.

Whataboutism.
However, it's not okay and I hope they address it.
Yeah. The hide and do nothing strategy is also terrible and should be fixed. However, I'd be surprised if that was more common in matches than the current three gen strategy that mostly skull merchants are applying.

What would that change about a killer going into a match with the sole purpose to hold 3 gens until the match reaches the timer?
It would just make it a shorter period of time, not address the problem!
You can still work to fix the three gen problem in the meantime, but still no game of DBD needs to last more than 20 minutes. F13 had the right idea with the 20 minute time limit.
Also providing a 20 minute time limit forces killers to try to kill rather than holding a three gen.

As I said in a previous post, in my opinion 80~90% of time is surv fault for the 3gen, 20~10% it's the killer holding the 3gen. I never faced a killer keeping the 3gen from the beginning of the match
I have faced many killers that have faced the three gen right away. In the old days it was Trapper, Hag, or Doctor who primarily chose that strategy.
In modern DBD it's most skull merchants and some knights. I actually don't mind the three gen strategy as I usually get a bunch of BP and am able to PIP. But I can definitely see why people dislike it.

no we are not ignoring that, which is why there's a buff to Deja Vu in the patch notes.
It's the circumstances around the killer going into a match and just setting up for a 3 gen that we're looking to address in the long term. Playing for the game to end in an hour isn't the intended way for DbD to be played.
Why don't you guys just put in a twenty minute time limit?

How is proxy camping a bad thing?
Creates an easier tunnel. Forces players to stay on their gens, which makes a less interactive game for everyone.
First down gets taken out of the game in four minutes with maybe 7k bp at best.
Other players spend the first four minutes mashing gens or maybe try to take agro from a killer that uses their natural speed increase and blood lust to ignore them to the tunneled survivor.
Killer gets "gen rushed" because of the tunnel taking too long or maybe they end up playing a competitive game after that. Probably depends on if they're up against SWF.
That's my take. More interaction is better for the game as a whole. Killers need to adapt or die so to speak.

I'm talking about when 2-3 gens pop during your first chase. If the game is gonna be remotely competitive after that point you're going to have to force a trade or two or secure second stage. It punishes killers without mobility or an instadown especially.
Nah. You can slug and snowball from there. Plenty of games have been won by killers even after a rough start with gens popping. You can definitely still get boat raced, but that attitude is all woah is me easy way out bs.
-
DS (and Head On) should both have five second stun times.
-
Imagine you're playing a board game with friends. After a few turns, you say "I'm not winning I'm gonna take off". In the grand scheme of life, no it's not a big deal. But you definitely ruined the game for the remaining participants and you likely wouldn't be invited to the next game night.
The big difference of course is that there is a social contract that most people try to keep with in real life. Online, the consequences are much smaller so we treat each other much worse and justify that it's okay to leave a game we agreed to play for next to no reason.
That's it really.

If i see any map offering , i am playing harder. More proxy camp, more tunnel. If they are asking for it, i will give it.
But SM on other hand, this killer seriously should not exist. There is almost nothing you can do against her.
Same. The fastest thing that makes me change from chill to kill is a map offering.
Wish they weren't in the game.

Pickpocket:
Activates while healing or unhooking a survivor. This allows you to steal the item they have in hand.
-
This game should have a twenty minute time limit.
-
I play both sides, but mainly survivor. I just find it more chill. Plus I usually game while on my treadmill, and it's just easier (and safer to be frank) to play survivor than killer. Easy to treadmill game while I'm on a gen, chest, or totem. Not as easy chasing and swinging at survivors.

Mettle of man. Sorry I wasn't balls deep inside of the survivor I was taking a hit for. I guess no protection stack for me.
Like seriously, widen the range of what counts as a protection stack.

@Paternalpark said:
I dont 3 Gen myself my team does because we don't have coms. So must I then play 4 man exclusively?
This. I can try to get my avatar to shake his head no or point to the other side of the map while getting a gen to 99. But if the other survivor just says ######### it and completes the gen, now we're three gen'd.
What did I do for that to be my fault?
From there out it's just a slow bleed to finally get it to the predestined 4k (or 3k with hatch or lucky gate escape). And by slow bleed, some of those games last 40 minutes of hit survivor, they run to the far side of the map to heal, kick gen, hover around that area and repeat.
This game should have a twenty minute timer like F13.
-
(Mary) Jane and the Artist.
-
I think Killers should be able to use map offerings, but not survivors.
Some stealth builds are near useless unless you use an indoor map offering.
-
If it's like Hockey like our boy Patrick Roy says, I look at the hatch escape like an overtime loss. It still gets you a point in the standings, just not the full two points.
I don't think all escaped are equal, but all should give you some bump in MMR.
-
I play normal until the odds of survival go down significantly (1 dead/dc 3 gens or more left). Then I play for the escape. I'll hide if need be. I don't want to be in MMR hell so escaping is my goal when things go sideways. Sole Survivor and Wake Up help significantly with the gates.
-
Dead by Daylight is the Hyman Roth of video games.
-
I survived 4 of 7 games and the quick exit gate speed won at least 3 games for me.
Basically like OP said, play normal. It's a nice contingency plan for the games that go sideways, which is many games in solo queue.
Thanks, OP.

Again, I'm doing the hardest gens and I'm taking chases. It's not my fault if the Killer gives up sometimes if he sees Sprint Burst. Sprint Burst is a legit perk.
BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY.... I have over 1,500 hours playing Dead by Daylight as a Survivor Main in Solo Q. I have played enough Solo Q to know that IT DOES NOT MATTER how good I am at looping. Countless games... as soon as match starts, I run to the middle of the map INTENTIONALLY looking to get chased first... loop the killer for 2-3 minutes.... and 0 gens done by the time I am hooked.
A lot of the playerbase is simply bad at the game in Solo Q. And there is nothing you can do to save a bad team.
This is from my first hand experience. At least with this build, I ensure I am having fun too.
Agreed. If you're looping a killer good enough and you have bad teammates it's not going to make a difference anyway. They're probably urban evading around the map anyway.
And if it's a smart killer he's going to peel off the loop anyway. Which again, if you're teammates suck, they're going to go down in seconds anyway.
I'm going to try this build later.
-
I say gg when I lose if I'm able to. I'm on PSN so I can't always say gg if I'm up against non PSN players.
-
I think the game is in it's least fun state that it's been since I've played.
Just one dude's opinion.
-
The "lore" is a joke. Numerous examples cited in the post. It reminds me of Freddy vs Jason where all of a sudden Jason is afraid of water and rain. Obviously, the writer and director didn't watch any of the previous ten movies.

Someone's not paying attention:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/348083/basekit-unbreakable-is-a-cursed-wish
The finisher Mori is now even more desirable, which requires killers to secure a 4K, so you can't risk the final survivor getting the hatch.
Slugging is still entirely possible, 45s is a fairly long time in DBD.
You will see even more "slugging for the 4K" which is the 'toxic' form of slugging. but you will see less general slugging throughout the early-middle of the game, which is where it's actually a valid mechanic and allows survivors to go to each others aid and prevent unnecessary hooks.
As always, shortsighted survivor mains cackling in glee at an upcoming buff, cannot see that anything that makes the killers objective harder will simply funnel them into more camping and tunnelling. We're all playing an arms race that's progressively leading to a much more toxic game.
I don't care. I've played maybe 30 games (being generous) since 6.1. I still think it's a good change. Again, why do killers need extend game length for a 4k? A 3k is a win. They need to really really win. That's on them.
-
I think it's a great idea. Slugging for the 4k is completely unnecessary and boring. This forces killers to just hook the second to last player and then go find the last remaining survivor. If you killers were doing that in the first place, this wouldn't even be a thing. But here we are.

Your experience is your experience. The problem is that many people with your mentality think the game should be balanced around their fun, which isn’t true. I’m sorry you don’t dominate killers anymore.
I never dominated killers in the first place. I generally just enjoyed games that would at least see 5 gens completed (or even close to).
In 25 games since the meta shift update I escaped 4 times. I personally wasn't a DH/DS user before the patch. Probably about 70/30 swf before the patch. I played a total of 2 games with one friend. Both games we got housed.
I have 6,000+ hours in this game. I'm probably a slightly better than average player. But I have enough experience and game knowledge to know that my skill cap doesn't meet the requirements of being a successful survivor at this point. And I don't need to escape every game, but a 16 percent rate iis pretty damn low. And again, if the games were close, maybe I could accept that. But the majority of my games only 1 or 2 gens have been completed. That isn't even getting to other factors like killer and map variety.
I've seen enough for now to call it a game.

Do you not see the flaw in this logic? You lost TWO games and immediately go to saying that the game is unfair/unfun. That’s a you problem
Two games that day. About 25 since the patch. Do I have to play 100 games before I can decide what is fun or not? 1,000?
Or maybe the flaw in the logic is actually on your end. Like, maybe it's up to the individual to decide what is fun or not fun? If you're having fun that's great. My friends cut bait after about six games post patch. For me it was 25ish. If you're still having fun, good for you. But don't tell me, that it's my flaw when I say I'm not having a good time playing a game.

My group has dropped it as well. I have a couple of friends that still play occasionally.
My biggest gripe is that it just isn't that fun anymore. In fairness, I have a lot of hours so I could just be bored in general. But it seems like every game is is so similar.

Stats for how much fun the game became since 6.1.0 because I am willing to bet we all know where that number falls.
Yeah. I've played maybe 25 games since the patch. Games are boring. Killer gets immediate pressure, wins with maybe two gens being done. Played this weekend for the first time since Wesker came out. All boring Wesker games where he dashes back to the hook for the easy hook trade.
After two games tonight I was spent.

Yeah. I never really get these type of posts. It's no different than if some crazy person says something really dumb and then a ton of "news" articles come out that make it seem like a large group share some dumbass belief. It just creates division when in reality, it was just one idiot that has dumb ideas.
Like, yeah. This guy is obviously an idiot or just trying to provoke a reaction. And clearly it worked. No need to act like it's something many survivors think. It's just one dude. Who cares? Just go along with your day CAMPING GENS LIKE A NOOB BABY KILLER!
Ahem...
NOOB!
Just joshing ya. Have a good one and good luck in future games!

It's true. Post game trash talk is definitely specific to DBD and all other games have all the good sports.

Ball busting aside, I do wish people would act nicer online (video games and otherwise). I'm certainly guilty of it to sometimes. Let's all be the best sports(wo)men we can be starting from this point forward. Who's with me?!

And yet they would anyway without proper tools to encourage alternative playstyles and punish those.
Exactly. There is a certain mindset that players will just do the easiest/most efficient tactics in order to secure a win, regardless if they actually need to. This isn't a survivor or killer thing either. There is definitely a subset of survivors that will race to mash gens even if it's boring and even if they're way better than the killer. There are killers that will tunnel/proxy/hard camp even if they're already better and don't need to.
These aren't all killers or all survivors, but it's a pretty decent chunk of the player base. So when killers say, they would stop tunneling/camping if the game was more balanced, it's pretty hilarious. There would still be plenty of games where people tunnel or camp. Just like there are now. Just like there will always be groups that slam gens regardless of gen times or killer nerfs.

You must not like the concept of hex totems then. Because guaranteeing value from a perk just because you picked it has been an unrealistic expectation in DBD for ages now.
I don't like the concept of hex perks.
-
I have never been a big DS user, because I hate the skill check and you usually still get tunneled anyway. I think it's absolute dog doodoo that this perk shuts off at end game. If you save a one time use perk until end game you should be able to use it. Even if you do the BM at the gate DS BS. It's a perk you equipped, you should be able to use it. Period.
-
Can you widen the radius of what registers as a protection hit? So many times I'm about 3-4 meters away from the survivor, I tank a hit for them and get no protection stack. It's really kind of silly how tight you have to be to the other survivor for the protection stack to register.

If there's a board game where someone can block me from playing the game and I'm just sitting there watching until I am out of the game, then yes, that doesn't sound like fun and sounds like a huge flaw in such board game.
A killer camping and/or tunneling essentially doesn't care about the game being fair for everyone involved. They care about winning. Which is completely fine, but I don't want to be part of that game.
FYI, I have equal if not more hours playing killers as survivors (I have all killers unlocked and all perks unlocked). And I have given up myself to killers if they're doing badly and trying their best in a game that is obviously going badly for them.
This is a social game. You're not playing against ruthless bots. You're playing against other humans. You can play dirty to get an easy win, but don't pretend that survivors facing that gameplay should be happy about it.
Yeah, but why quit when it hurts the other survivors and rewards the killer?

Camping against good teams who know how to do gens will get you a 1-2k at best. It doesn't work.
Good teams were probably going to win anyway. Against bad teams (mainly solo) it's still a very solid strategy.
This is the dead hard on the ground argument for killers. Survivors always liked to say "dead hard isn't that strong. Half the time it doesn't even work". Even though if that were even remotely true, players wouldn't have been running dead hard nearly as often.
"Camping isn't even that strong". Well, why do so many killers do it then? In particular, killers with strong camping abilities (Bubba, Huntress, and Trickster).
