  • There's an entire network of toxic streamers and their friends on Steam that exist to make everyone miserable. I'd love to share a wholesome moment but it's been so long in between that I don't remember one that didn't involve playing with my friends. By and large this community makes me sick with this desire to win at all costs. Even worse are the competitive teams.

Wraith and demo are both flavor of the month killers for people to complain about.

I give it 4 weeks before people stop talking about Wraith/Demo being strong entirely.

PS. Wraith didn't get stronger its just he no longer requires running his windstorm add-ons as you can reach the same speed he has now before the change with a single windstorm add-on.

I wish I could say something about either of those killers but lately I only play against Freddy and Blight

  • @Beaburd said:

I pray a talking system is never implemented.

Both for the sake of the crowd sensitive to toxic people, and for those around me who would have to endure my hours of rambling about inane topics in-game.

I'd rather they implement in-game systems that give SWF-levels of information and balance around that.

If you're not "sensitive" to toxic people then you're part of the problem. However, I agree there should be no built in comms.

    Daring today, huh.

You and the 56 people that voted for this comment, (so far), have evidently never used the many aura reading perks and add ons to have hunting done for you.

  • @AnnoyedAtTheGame said:

Can we get another nerf to % on the gens please?

All this game is now is 4 swf who just want to come in the lobby and gen rush the game.

Can we add another 30 seconds to each gen? decrease great skill check to add a quarter to the percent its at now?

Also toolbox nerf so they do half the % they're at now.

It's an absolutely waste of a match. It's a waste of BP that could have been earned. I got a felling I will start lobby dodging again today.

"Gen rushing" translation: the survivors shouldn't do their only objective because I want to camp/tunnel/mori

You literally have no argument. :) git gud at social skills.

Same is true for you. Anyone over the age of 12 using "git gud" unironically should probably look for more social circles.

    Let me get this straight.

You're annoyed that you have to play around a perk? Not even a powerful one, just one that's ubiquitous due to its invaluable ability to double bp?

Why the hell are you even playing the game then? It's a perk that literally encourages the killer to NOT camp! WGLF was even buffed into being one of the best anti-slugging perks in the game because of this perk. What more do you want?

    "LeT mE GiT tHiS sTRaIgHt"

Please. I'm so tired of half-wits conjuring up as much crap as they can to avoid admitting they use bbq to make hunting as easy as possible. Killers are not viable without it anymore.

  • @Karao_Ke said:

A bloodpoint bonus could definitely help out the killer population as it basically is bribing players, but there's only so much you can do before the devs need to step in & actually balance the game so it isn't completely miserable to play as killer.

I say this as someone who plays SWF occasionally with teams up to 4, the only way this happens is to get rid of that feature. If players can't entertain themselves for 10 minutes at a time then they have bigger problems to worry about.

  • @vogit10102 said:

He's easy as hell. You can be 5 years old and blind, and you'll 4k everygame

I can't believe people still tug their weiners over how great they think they are at a video game. If you're going to lie, make it plausible next time. Or, play him without any perks and add ons and then come tell us how awesome your mother said you were.

  • @TrollToll said:

yep, this new update will help alot of people move on from this game so we can finally be happy.

I agree, the most toxic players will pretty much have carte blanche to the game. The bright side is they'll be screwing each other over instead of players trying to have fun.

I just can't believe the decline in quality from this game for the last 2 years. The players have always been pretty selfish and awful, as is the standard with these types of games, but there was still enough decent people to have an enjoyable experience even at red ranks. In fact, there was a time when red ranks were actually a little more chill than they are now. Now there's emphasis on cosmetics over functionality, buffs and nerfs at the insistence of streamers who pay to have their opinions prioritized, another backwards attempt at modifying the rankings to dropping them entirely. The latter which will reduce the killer players even further. At this rate they might as well do what Friday the 13th did and just pick the killer from a group of 5 and just let all the friends work together to ruin DBD too.

  • This seems to get brought up every few months and I think it's valid. Again I always point to "fog whisperers" and casual players who really complained nonstop about the original MoM because they'd have one bad game against it for every 10 successful ones. I loved Hybridpanda and I hope he returns soon but he was at the forefront of that nerf movement. He wasn't alone, to be sure, but I remember him constantly talking against it on his Twitch streams and Twitter. No one took into consideration that you didn't get a stack against:

    Nurse coming out of blink

    Hillbilly and Leatherface chainsaw

Wraith hitting out of an uncloak

    Pig on a dash attack

    Legion in a frenzy

Hag getting a hit immediately after teleporting

    Huntress hatchets

NOED from the healthy state even with Mettle activated.

There might be something else I'm missing but it was absolutely not guaranteed every match. It carried the same risk/reward as Deliverance and yet, none of the streamers who paid to have their opinions heard whined about that.

  • I've long wanted a perkless mode. That's about as even across the board as it can be. It forces survivors to pick and choose their movements more wisely and killers to actually have to hunt and pursue.

  • Decisive Strike got the change it needed. While there was enjoyment to be had watching a killer so afraid of it they'd do anything to avoid it, it was still circumventing the process because they'd rather not engage in challenging gameplay. While it's rare, there's still a small contingent of killer mains who tuck their tail between their legs to wait out borrowed time and decisive strike timers which is kind of sad really.

  • "Gen rushing" is definitely one of the dumbest terms in a very long list of them with this game and community. With totems being a very close second, generators are literally the only main objective needed to escape. If a killer player is too incompetent to either put pressure on them or fails to use the right combination of perks and add ons, you know whose fault that is? The killers.

  • You're obviously one of the useless cretons this post is referring to. The type that makes any gaming community they're part of worse just by being in it. That being said, there shouldn't be any changes to tea bagging or flashlights because selfish, obnoxious, maladjusted, fragile ego gamers will always find a way to ruin whatever match they're in. People like you make me sick. Next time sit on the sidelines and keep your mouth shut.

  • I can't fully prove this, but I believe a majority of proposed changes comes from "fog whisperers", the streamers that pay to get preferential treatment in return for kickbacks for in game currency. Changing perks most players don't use will be showcased by these streamers to entice new players or keep the current group of suckers, including me.

  • The only problem that ever existed with Decisive Strike was killer players who were so terrified of it they did the "dribbling" to the hook.

  • The biggest worry before dedicated servers was lag switching and/or vpn players with a terrible connection. The hitboxes have always been terrible but since cross play has been implemented it's worse. I honestly don't know what the fix could or should be at this point.

  • As long as there have been online games there has been selfish, obnoxious, insecure jerks to play them. If you remove one mechanic to prevent trolling, they'll find another. When you're useless you have to think of ways to overcome that.

  • Nerf this, buff that. Unbelievable. I've been in matches against wraiths in red ranks who wiped the floor with us. Granted, as you said they're perk and add on reliant but frankly, that's almost all killers and a prestige 3 wraith certainly put the time and effort into learning the character and became skilled. Players on both sides continue to want the work done for them. The problems is the devs are all too eager to do it.

  • @EvanSnowWolf said:

"These free rewards aren't big enough!"

This community is reaching new levels of entitlement.

That seems to be gamers in general. A criticism of a free reward isn't entitlement. Demanding a free reward is. You are right though this community does make one sick.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

half a million if you have rank 1 on both sides, not bad.

The gaming equivalent to a $600 check, "not bad". This is why the devs don't have an incentive stop regressing the game. People are eating up the crumbs they drop.

  • @AnnoyedAtTheGame said:

This will only buff survivors even more and leave killers nerfed even more. I play survivor and there should be no counter on totems left. I like running around and looking for them. We don't need a counter.

All it's going to do is force more killers to stop killer side. We can't afford to nerf the killers anymore because lets face it there isn't many killers left according to survivors on here. Q times.

"We can't afford to nerf the killers anymore because lets face it there isn't many killers left according to survivors on here. Q times."

All of this started when they first added the SWF feature and has only exponentially gotten worse every year. Apparently there's a contingent of gamers that can't entertain themselves for an hour so why not just bend to their will and f everyone else. I started playing in December 2016 and played both sides pretty evenly until mid-2018. It just became too much of a chore to deal with. If I used a great killer with great perks then there was flaming in the chat. I didn't always remember to turn it off either because on the survivor side they might want to add streamers or something else.

Anyway, a live totem counter wouldn't be the problem.

  • They keep making these changes and then changing the changes because the terrible combination of whiny players and streamers who have paid to have their opinions heard above others are given priority. 2017-18 was the last time I felt this game wasn't determined to undermine it's own premise. It's like the butterfly effect, the more they change the worse it gets.

  • @hello_hru said:

    • obnoxious survivors playing right up in my face, abusing second chance perks meant to protect against tunnelling to make what should be an obscenely risky play with absolutely no drawbacks because no matter what I do, they'll get away with it using UB/DS/BT
    • I hate the feeling I get that I'm losing a game to players I don't even get to interact with because two players tag-team chases while two other people screw around on gens with these survivors rotating as needed, which I know is efficient gameplay but the feeling of having no control over the match is gross. It's gross from start to finish. This is why ruin undying became meta in the first place - killers need a way to exert control over the match outside of the 1v1 and ruin undying enables that. But that's being taken away too so 🤷‍♂️
    • The ranking system is rubbish. Am a dbd casual and I climbed from rank 20 to rank 4 in less than a week. I'm having literally zero fun up here and with no real sense of progression or metrics to compare myself against other killers/survivors (like the ranking system other games have e.g. bronze to regional top 500) and no incentive to grind through to rank 1. Please for the love of God make it harder and more meaningful to rank up and give us regional top 500 leaderboards for both killer and survivor.
    • Stuns. Stuns are horrifically unfun in every game I've ever played but are especially punishing in DBD and in red ranks it's either eat what feels like a minute's worth of stuns over the course of a match, or don't eat the stun, wasting time downing people who are in my face with their second chance perks just to let them get picked up (or pick themselves up) and then go screw around on a gen while I'm trying to pressure other gens and other survivors. Killer is incredibly stressful until the first survivor dies and these builds/this playstyle delays and prevents this to the point where outplaying people in the 1v1 doesn't even matter. The whole match is just stress. Crazy that the game is balanced for the 1v1 anyway when survivor split map pressure is what wins games anyway.

This is why I can't take dbd seriously or heavily invest myself into killer. No fun playing a game with only one incredibly stressful game mode where control of the match is firmly in the survivors hands from the start of the match and I feel like I'm not so much playing against the survivors as I am playing against their ridiculously forgiving perks. It's honestly the least fun Multiplayer gaming experience I've ever had.

Get serious. Killers and survivors at red ranks can be really terrible people. That's not exclusive to Dead by Daylight either. In a game where escaping or getting 4 kills isn't necessary to get a lot of points or rank up, insecure players will still have a lust to tug their weens at how great they think they are at the game.

Iri head is balanced, but it needs the trumps all other addons condition that Hag's waterlogged shoe has!

It's not. There's no downside to it other than missing but any player will add the belt to get extra hatchets. They don't have to do anything to earn a one hit down. You could say they have to aim it but anyone who has played this game more than 3 hours will tell you hatchets have been known to make sharp turns around corners or go through walls. By this logic when a survivor uses Deliverance they shouldn't have to rescue someone first.

  • I agree that the barbed wire should wear off if you're healed or a certain amount of time has passed. Even when the doctor puts you in madness 3 you can break out of that. That continues to be the biggest problem with this game is the inconsistency with things like that. Precedents exist and some streamers and devs pretend that they don't.

  • @ILoveDemo said:

Listen, Corrupt Intervention right now gives the Killer too much benefit and has no risk.

It's also way too long. 120 sec is too much. A Killer can find a survivor in the Beginn of a Match Chase him for 45 sec. (Which is a OK time) down him, Hook him and still has 40 sec. left.

In this time 3 Gens could be done. So it Shows how unfair this perk is. It absolut make the game unfun and boring.

Pls Devs, reduce the time to Idk 80 sec. or make it so it does only 2 gens that you can't repair.

Corrupt intervention is a complete waste of a perk slot and any killer using it needs to learn to patrol better. I've been in matches where 1 or two other survivors will hide and wait out the timer. This is a great tactic because it completely wastes its purpose and makes the killer look like an idiot.

Being able to be seen from across the map while cloaked was kind of redundant and defeats the purpose of being "cloaked". The bell that the Wraith uses, the snarling sound he makes, and stomping feet is his warning for when he is close. The current crop of killer players isn't incompetent, for the most part either.

Also, why should it be a risk/reward situation for doing a good job of sneaking up on survivors without being heard?

"Also, why should it be a risk/reward situation for doing a good job of sneaking up on survivors without being heard?"

You answered your own question here.

His add-ons that make his bell silent and see auras are strong but manageable. Just because he has good addons does not make him a great killer. How was the buff unnecessary? The fact that survivors can see him across the map right now defeats the purpose of hiding while being cloaked.

His buff is unnecessary because it should be a risk/reward situation. You can still hear Michael breathing and Ghostface's cape? flapping around. I don't see why Wraith needs to be completely invisible. Unless the devs just think the current crop of killer players are that incompetent.

  • @Bwsted said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1871706#Comment_1871706

What was the criticism? I really can't see anything wrong if this was implemented.

All there was to it was, "it's too much information". Now, this was before bbq and allllllll of the other aura reading perks and add ons came along so it's even less valid.

  • I remember seeing this suggestion a long time ago and of course it was met with disdain. By that logic we shouldn't know how many generators are left to complete. I think it's a great idea to also show remaining totems.

  • With Stridor completely negating Iron Will and Calm Spirit negating the doctor's power, infectious fright, and clown's bottles, there's a precedent. There was no reason at all to make "undetectable" a thing when a perk has aura reading capabilities. The inconsistency is maddening.

  • I think once this next patch goes live that might be time for me to retire as well. I've been playing since December 2016 and until the middle of 2019 I thought this game was outstanding. Once they added garbage like "fog whisperers", perk and killer reworks/buffs/nerfs, (all at the former's whim"), unbalanced SWF feature, removing tiles, making maps smaller, making maps darker, dedicated servers that are just as bad as peer to peer, poorly designed killers or killers who aren't viable without slugging, bbq & chili is "just for bloodpoints", survivors continuing to grief at the gates, survivors sandbagging each other, more aura reading perks and add ons for killers, killers and survivors almost always using the same builds, (spirit and stridor...yawn),and lastly, outside of Halloween there are no more themed lobbies or events after having a precedent of at last 4 or 5 every year.

  • Rework? He's already getting an unnecessary buff in this next patch. He also has insane add ons that give him total silence and aura reading ability outside of perks the player may or may not use.

  • @gibblywibblywoo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1869160#Comment_1869160

Just wait, there'll be more. Punishing players for wanting to have fun with friends isn't the answer. Buffing solo to that level aswell as buffing (specific) killers to compensate is the right direction. Problem is that with how many killer powers and perks there are now it will take an extremely long time.

I would agree with 100% if the game was designed for 4 strangers to try and work together. Linking up with friends isn't quite the issue, it's the use of comms and gaining unearned information.

  • @QwQw said:

Because at that rate the killer has already won, a perk shouldn't be able to save you.

They must have forgotten that time they made mettle of man.

Of course they forgot. Streamers and casual players made sure it got nerfed into uselessness.

  • The whole premise of the game was to see if 4 strangers could work together with limited communication and escape. You know, like a horror movie. It is more difficult for solo players only when it come to perk selection. If you're by yourself and not using perks like Aftercare, Bond, and Kindred you're insane.

  • @Gay_Police_Dept said:

Normally i would say that the game can't really tell if you were playing stealthy or just sitting in a corner doing nothing, but i think that if you get BPs by doing gens and unhooking people then there's a way to tell that you were actually being useful, so i don't really know why that kind of playstyle isn't being rewarded yet.

I've maxed out objective and altruism and gotten the obligatory 5k for survival upon escape and barely safety pipped because of this terrible emblem system.

  • @CashelP14 said:

So what your saying is if someone creates a fake account and plays swf they can bully rank 20s forever?

    Good idea

Bad grammar and straw man. All the hallmarks of a gamer post. SWF should never have been added. If gamers over the age of 10 can't entertain themselves then they have bigger problems to worry about.

  • I think the most egregious changes that have been made were changing map tiles because devs think killers are incompetent, not doing holiday themed lobbies except Halloween and this year it was questionable because it all centered on Blight's release, the rift because now killers and survivors play in unnatural ways to get a small bp bonus, and letting streamers buy in to become "fog whisperers". The last might be the worst because they basically buy an opinion that will get more attention and in return they get gifted in game currency.

  • @Tsulan said:

Also don´t forget, that each month, everyone has to start at rank 20.

So only people with a looooot of time will reach rank 1.

Oh God it's even worse! I didn't even think about that. 250k bp for a major grind. The player base seems to be eating it up so why would the devs change anything?

  • "...a more realistic direction..."

######### off with this. This is game is pure fantasy and why it was fun. The HUD looks terrible and now it's obvious they're just making changes for the sake of change and not doing anything to promote clean gameplay.

  • We got the endgame collapse because gamers can be so selfish and worthless that survivors and killers would stand off at the hatch like #########. Blame them.

  • This is a great idea! I'd love to return some cosmetics I haven't used in a long time.

  • I would love to know how much these "fog whisperers" paid to be able to bend the devs will as they see fit. Please stop watching their streams. They've been making the game worse for the last 2 years.

  • @ReverseVelocity said:

I think Mettle of Man is in a good spot, I have no issues in getting it to activate, even in solo games. The best way to guarantee a protection hit is to take a hit when the killer is carrying someone. They're slower than you unless they have agitation and if you can block a hook then they have to hit you.

The only part of this that's accurate is the last sentence. The rest is fiction.

  • @The_Obsession11 said:

I don’t care how you do it but mettle of man has got to change. I’ve been using it all day and haven’t gotten it once. I never even used the perk before the nerf but it’s unusable right now.

I'm right there with you. I used it for the month it was actually useful in it's original design. I've said ad nauseum that the problem was a combination of streamers and casual players who didn't know what the ######### they were talking about and got it nerfed. The perk didn't activate every time. You didn't get credit for a hit from: Huntress hatchet, Billy and Leatherface chainsaw, Nurse in a blink, Wraith immediately after uncloaking, Legion in frenzy, Pig while becoming detectable, Hag emerging from a trap and I think that's it at the time it was useful. If they wanted to appease the lowest common denominator they should've just made it 4 hits.

Why is the killer supposed to be more dangerous at the end of the game? Also, why does 99ing gates reward survivors with a "free" escape? They did all of their objectives and rightfully earned their escape.

Awesome question! The gates being powered shouldn't grant killers anything special. If they were too incompetent or unprepared to patrol gens then that's their problem.
