Pipping is just a participation trophy to keep bad casuals motivated to play.

I see where you're coming from, but killers can have separate weaknesses, Billy chainsaw has a long charge up, demogorgon has a short one.
Demogorgon's lunge goes double the speed for less possible distance.
Billy can one shot, demogorgon can't.
Billy's chainsaw is much more reactable for the survivor than demogorgon's lunge is (Unless billy's going for the snipe of a lifetime, than maybe not)
Demogorgon's ability is a quick dash, Billy's is the killer version of sprint burst.
Billy's is more punishable while charging it (Time to react to it), demogorgon's is more punishable after using it (Slower turning).
But billys long charge up gets compensated by 1 shoot and curving ability which us stronger imo

Only if he hits the survivor should his camera turn freely, otherwise no I already use it to get real close to survivors and I think it would be too rewarding.
So, is Billy to rewarding and needs a nerf? Honestly, just think about it. Billy has this aswell and he is much much more powerful and at the same time everyone who plays this game enough has the opinion that Billy is the most balanced killer in the game

Fair enough except the fps drops (it's your fault u.u). Btw the doctor's iri add on is not really that op like others...
MY fault? I don't understand, many get fps drops not only me.
Also, I never claimed his iri addon is OP. I made it pretty clear it's annoying.

Old one looks better, balance wise the new one is better. U can't have both I guess, one sacrifice has to be done.

Is not really that annoying...
For me it is. The constant screaming, lighting and sound effects, fps drops and iri addon with constant heart bead. Sorry, I can't enjoy playing against doctor.

He needs a rework imo. He needs to be less annoying and more powerful.

Usually the killer Mains are correct on the assumption though, 80% of the survivor community seems to act like strong characters should be nerfed so they have easy games. No one seems to want a challenge in the gaming community as a whole.
I'm someone who is totally against nerfing Nurse, and she is stronger than spirit. But I want a spirit rework. Not nerf, a rework. And I think majority thinks the same

I'm not sure if it's sudden, it seems like it's been building for a while, but it's definitely reached a fever pitch.
From the outside looking in, as someone who doesn't play Spirit or survivor, it seems like it's because Spirit flips the game on its head. Typically, killers chase after survivors, hoping they'll make a mistake. With Spirit, it's the opposite. Survivors rely on the killer making mistakes because they don't have enough info to make informed counterplays.
Against good survivors, most killers have to bait out mistakes. Make them commit to something they shouldn't, draw them out of a safe spot, etc. Hiding the red stain is one of the most basic examples.
Spirit doesn't seem like she really needs to bother with any of that. She just uses her power, instant mindgame. It's like getting stealth ganked in a MMORPG, people get uniquely furious because they feel like there was nothing they could do.
That's my take, anyway.
As you said, all other killers are baiting mistakes (redglow mindgames for examples). The thing is, you can't bait a mistake on spirit. A good Spirit doesn't care what you do and try.
Also, a little note: she doesn't have to use her power for instant "mindgame", it's already starting by standing still... And doing nothing.

Sad thing is, it is not really a challenge at all. A Challenge would be something you can do stuff about. This is not the case with Spirit.
The Survivor is forced to act in a certain way, while Spirit has all the ability to act and react. Like a Spirit standing still at a Pallet always has the advantage, if the Survivor is vaulting back, she can hit. If he is moving, she can react and move the same way. And if in doubt, she can bump into the Survivor anyway.
So yeah, not really a challenge, simply a guessing game.
Just to give a comparison:
To people who have played Dark Souls, those are challenging games. And then there is the not so good little brother Dark Souls 2. There is one part where you get attacked by a big enemy who crashes trough a door, which can result in you being dead. There is no way to see that this is gonna happen, and this is not a challenge at all during your first playthrough.
You can compare that with Spirit - you dont know what to do, you can only guess. And if you guessed right, it is only this - guessing right. You did not even outplay the Spirit at this point, because this would mean that you actually knew what is gonna happen.
Long term dark souls player here! Dark souls is a challenging game, I also was really into pvp of dark souls 1 which already speaks for itself. Anyone who tried this out knows what a challenge this is against experienced players. Here is the thing: it's fair, it's a challenge and 99% is counterable. 99% of the time the better player wins. However, this is definently not the case with spirit. If the spirit is good you die. Your skill doesn't matter.

You need to cleanse totems. They are worth 1000 points and are considered the secondary Survivor objective.
It's not a secondary objective. In order to be a secondary objective it has to be done in order to open gens and escape, which is not the case. Stop with these false informations

Wow, I’m not saying whether I think noed is balanced, or op, but those survivor perks are not similar to noed in any way, if you’re talking about reward for failure in some way, it would be deliverance, and that doesn’t even technically give a benefit since you’re typically gonna get unhooked anyway
also to point out, if you don’t even play survivor enough to know the perks, I’m not saying you are guaranteed, but you’re highly likely killer biased
Nailed it quite good.
It's a typical pattern of killer mains or killer biased players in the forum. "what, you said noed is reward for failure??? Well then sprint burst, balanced landing etc is aswell. Ah and while we are at it, so is doing gens and escaping with adrenaline. Also, having 3 chances till you die (you die on 3rd hook) is reward for failure aswell."
They can't accept that noed is a crutch. Mainly because they are using this crutch by themselves.

That's my estimate, based on SWF groups I've come across myself and those I've been a part of. Also no one but the absolute top players even know the maps well enough to be able to communicate precise locations for pallet drops and such, so I'm guess there will be a fairly low percentage of people using comms to their full advantage. If you have more concrete data to refute that, though, I'd love to see it.
There is no swf indicator. U can't always know what you verse. Many private profiles, many liers when you ask in chat.
-
It's like saying getting stunned by old DS is a punishment because you chased the obsession "Just chase someone else".
Both are punishing one side for simply doing their objective. Both are rewarding bad play. Yet, only one perk got changed (DS, which I like the because I hated old DS) and the other side keeps the crutch.
I personally see no difference between old MoM, old DS and noed. All the same, all for noobs to reward bad play.

@Peanits I think you should do some global polls ingame to determine who are the most favourite and most hated killers in the game. With that you can maybe tweak some killer but also take that information for creating new killers.

I know I'm not in an optimal SWF group. That's exactly my point. I'm in a typical SWF group. 4-man SWF takes up about 5% of all queues, and of that 5%, maybe 1 in 20 (if we're being really generous) of those groups use voicecoms to their full advantage. My point has always been not that coms cannot be used to gain a significant advantage, but that the problem is nowhere near as widespread as people like to pretend, because it only occurs in a generous 0.25% of all games.
The OP asked why nothing is being done to balance it. My guess is, that's why. Because it's not statistically as huge a problem as people are making it out to be.
Where you got that number "1 out of 20"???

Finally. I stopped playing today because of servers. Tomorrow I will play a bit and enjoy it

Gen tapping isn't a counter play. Why would I need to do gens twice as slower to counter one addon?
I don't really count specific perks as counterplay. There should be decent amounts of counterplay without needing specific perks.
None of the things you said work if you don't have Iron Will. The chase is pretty much over when you get injured if you aren't using that perk.

I have gone against Spirits with my perks and won, not always but enough. That's why Spine Chill is always on one of my perk slots. Nea main when I play surv, Huntress main(mostly) so don't accuse me of bias cause you have no argument :)
Plus anyone with half a brain cell knows you can't loop Spirit lmao
Everyone can claim that. Video proofs are the only thing you can convince anyone here.

@Mochan said:
The counters give you a 20% chance to win the chase at best. Without them the chance is closer to 1%.
Unless you're fighting a bad spirit, getting into a chase usually means a down in thirty seconds.
Stealth is the most reliable way to fight spirit, but Stealth doesn't work anymore, especially at high ranks.
Spirit is altogether fine I guess, but really annoying to go against and usually results in 4Ks. There's a reason she was the most hated killer in the last unofficial poll someone conducted here on the forum.
It was me, nearly 50% hate her the most: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/91696/who-do-you-hate-the-most-to-verse/p1

@Fibijean said:
Firstly, I'm guessing the main reason they aren't as focused on buffing solo is because it's actually not as big a deal according to the stats they have as people are making it out to be.
Secondly, I'm wondering if anyone who complains about the efficiency of coms has ever actually played SWF themselves. My SWF group is nowhere near that efficient, and I'm guessing that's the case for most groups, given the stats on SWF survival rates.
A lot of the time when we play, we're just messing around in voice, not giving each other constant instructions with pinpoint accuracy. Sure, we might let each other know if the killer is hanging around the hook, or one of us might say "I'll go for the save" (sometimes, other times we just forget and all go for it anyway) but we sure don't know where each other or the killer are at all times. I feel like people think SWF conversations go like this:
"Where are you? I'll heal you."
"I'm in the north-west side of the map, twenty meters from the far wall, crouching behind 'the' rock."
Most of the time the conversation goes like this.
"Where are you? I'll heal you."
"Uhh... I'm next to the big thing... I'm kinda near shack but also not really..."
"Gee thanks that narrows it down."
Or this:
"I found Ruin! It's uh... under a tree somewhere."
Or this:
"Does anyone know where the killer is?"
"Yeah, she's near me."
"And where are you?"
"Um... in a room, sort of near the middle maybe? I think?"
And that's not to mention that there are actually downsides of playing SWF as well, like the instinct to perform suicidal feats of altruism because it's your friend's life on the line and not just some random's. I say all this not to suggest that there is no gap between SWF and solo play, but simply that the gap is far, far smaller than most people who complain about it imagine.
You are just not an optimal SWF group. Simple. Just take a look at the depip squad and how well they communicate informations. And they aren't even talking that much, sometimes I watch streamers and they call EVERY SINGLE PALLET DROP out for the team to avoid that anyone runs into deadzones by accident. Just because you and your team can't (or don't want to) fully capitalise on the advantage voice coms can give doesn't mean others can't.
-
@altruistic said:
Still feels completely different playing with friends versus’ randoms.
90% of the time we aren’t even using coms when I play with friends.
4 players that have synergy is a hell of a feeling after playing solo mostly for 3 years. I don’t know why randoms are so bad 🤷🏻♀️.
This. Sometimes I take some friends to play with. No voice coms. Just experienced players with game sense and eventually a quick message via steam chat to call out insidious Bubba for example. The difference compared to solo Q is insane. To many potatoes are in red ranks. I can't even imagine how easy 4 men swf WITH voice coms is, has to be a cake walk.

But whatever, I'm not the "calm" one here apparently
Take a look at the topic, for me it was clear he is talking about solos.
-
@FrenziedRoach said:
You are wrong in your statement of "absolutely nothing" has been done.
UI changes have been made and are contiunally being made to help bridge the information gap.
For example
- You know who the obsession is now (you didn't know this previously till they were dead.)
- You know when the obsession is being chased now by the moving talons.
- You get icons now when a Hex is discovered to be in play explaining which Hex it is (again, previously was not given this information)
All these UI changes they continue to make are mostly for the solo player - so they have this information on hand.
Can more be done? ABSOLUTELY!
But so say nothing has been done is misleading.
You listed 3 points. Amazing.
1st point is an information you usually can't do much with, it's a speculation if DS is in play or the killer has an obsession perk.
2nd point wasn't even fully and correctly done. It has to be on ALL survivors to be useful and not just one at best.
And I don't even know what you r trying to say in your 3rd point.
The last thing devs made was the obsession legs shown to everyone. And I think this was in 2017. We are about to hit 2020, in case you forgot.

You realize the Devs have said its a valid strat to camp? Like, it's on one of there streams. I tried to post the video but it's waiting on approval from a mod so just wait for that. But yeah, you are on that hook for 120 seconds. The others should do gens. Does it suck for you? Yes, and I am sorry for that. As a Killer main that doesn't camp, tunnel, and rarely slugs, I know that it's annoying and frustrating. But yelling about it in here changes nothing. Also, I do hope OP reported that Killer. He was out of line and rude.
Who cares about what devs say, they don't understand their own game LUL
-
@yeet said:
when you are incapable of doing gens when a killer doesn't leave the hook you have not a soul to blame but yourself
if you hit a killer with 2 DS and still lose? that's just inexcusably poor play from you and your team.
It's solo Q I guess and noone is running kindred. Only swf groups can fully punish a camping killer from the first to the last second. Solo Q is not efficient enough. I mean they can try to punish it AFTER they wasted time running to the hook just to see that the killer is hardcore patrolling, but the result will definently not be the same like in a swf group with voice coms.
-
I love those posts. Always shows you all the issues at once
-
Depends. On killers like Legion it doesn't matter. Leaving away addons will just make it harder and you won't learn the killer that much more.
On the other hand, killers like Nurse and Billy should always be learned addonless. After you are decent without addons you can try mixing in addons.
-
@MemberBerry said:

Punishing dc's isn't going to fix anything. Survivors will kill themselves on hook if they don't want to play that match anymore.
A better solution would be to fix why survivors dc in some cases. No one enjoys going against broken addons like iridescent head huntress or prayer beads spirit.
This. Fix first some bs stuff, then think about punishment. But as you said, punishing won't do much, people will just suicide and if that gets punished aswell people will just afk

I understand what you mean, but I think one thing he has nice compared to Billy is that he can cancel his M2 faster and do better fakes, so I feel like he shouldn't be able to turn if he has that for an advantage. Ig either predict at loops better or do more fakes? I'm not sure. Maybe I'm wrong about the M2 ability lol.
Billy can do a lot with his chainsaw aswell to fake survivors. There is a whole video by ohtofu (just a suggestion if you are interested, he covers pretty much everything about Billy)
-
@SpaceCoconut said:
It's frustrating, but I understand it.
If he could turn the survivor would only gain about 8+ meters of distance which might not be enough to get away from another shred.
The camera limit gives them time to hide their path enough to get another chance to dodge the next shred or make it to a loop.
So, then Billy needs to get that restriction aswell? Because not only can he hit, he can instantly down and look for others to slug
