My sound is never loud when I play dbd so i cant rely on the sound. And still i do fine playing spirit. Of course she should get buffs to compensate the nerf to remove the sound of survivors, but it wouldnt completely kill the killer because there are still Scratch marks.
Scratch Mark's are bugged and delayed... which is why spirit players dont rely on them

Agreed. 100%.
Her phasing should be a means of getting from Point A to Point B quickly.
Her ability to hear anything should be stripped away during her phase. It'll take a bit more skill to use her but it will not drop her in Rank.
And I play Spirit.
Thatd break her in half..lol
-
The issue your getting into is that each of these killers have downsides already..yet if you play long enough you begin to realize these killers arnt bad at all..in fact..unlike some people I only have fun as survivor vs the strong killers..because if my team is good we win otherwise without much competition..and if I'm with my friends..well..4 killer dcs, 1 killer face camped my friend and got two kills because he camped basement on another as trapper , two killers gave up and opened the doors for us..no matter what killer of what rank..we didnt lose a single time..Freddy and doctor should be every killers position strength wise , spirit is just designed for higher end plays but..I think if she had a flicker on her husk for a second when her phase starts..itd be a good way to make keep her mind games intact while also rewarding positioning to hide the flicker or punish oblivious survivors over attentive ones , and since you know when she starts phasing when you watch her closely..you can have a pretty good idea of how long you have till she catches up and can be useful to good players. Death slinger is weak..so unless he gets massively buffed to compensate you cant limit his quick scoping..just not realistic at all

@immortalls96 No. I want a fair chance instead of taking a hit while on a gen then being killed in less than 20 seconds due to sounds, not due to my own skill.
Your own skill is still very much relevant..if it wasnt spirit would never lose in high ranks..you dont want to get caught quickly...nobody does...but what can you do? It's not fair to give the killer a handicap they cant afford..besides..spirit does not get gen hits that often..she warns you a mile away

Hexes are already underpowered..and how is a perk you have to play a specific way to earn it plus risk it being destroyed lazy..? Like..what?

@immortalls96 The afterimage greatly helps against Nurse. I even have videos when I use to upload to YouTube on how to dodge the nurse using it. Wraith is old, yes but is an example of why an invisible killer can be viable even without grunts. Grunts of pain are constant. You never stop moaning while in pain. That's a fact. The grunts are loud enough to hear from about 7 steps reliably also. Easily shown in KYFs and finally, using grunts, you can gauge if you're on top of a survivor but a survivor has no tell which side of the pallet you're on. That's not balanced.
Again, in a KYFs, you can try it for yourself like I did and its fairly easy to come out and instantly swing behind them before they can move unless they guess how close you are to them.
Once again your treating this as a 1v1..the game cannot be that way..that mentality has gotten the game into the long mess it's still climbing out of..your suggestion is too much in that regard

@immortalls96 The reason I mentioned Wraith is due to the fact that they were afraid to make a fully invisible killer. Look at Freddy at release also but Wraith would be fine with being invisible since he has to uncloak so you can see him. Even if he hears you groaning, there is counterplay to him with a silent bell by keeping a look out. With Spirit, she can just instantly nail you. If yoy want to keep the grunts, then make her shimmer or something for half a second to see where she's coming out from.
Hell, even Nurse when she blinks leaves a trail of an afterimage to see where she's blinking to to give you a chance to use LOS and lose her. Spirit just comes out and instantly wacks you due to the sounds. You can't mindgame that and the sound bugs I've seen so far is only when a survivir is on the ground. They sometimes make no sound at all for some reason.
Nurses trail makes no difference because shes so fast, wraith once again is old, and he can still see you and isnt on a timer, freddy..was trash from day 1 till rework , sounds are not pin point..survivors only grunt periodically and if your not in the open spirit still needs to deal with tiles. If you could see her at all youd just camp pallets and win the exchange every time..because pallet conservation isnt necessary..these are very important factors your not taking in mind

@immortalls96 I use head-on on certain builds because it works well with others. Even Wraith has a shimmer yet he can still pull your ass off a gen with an add-on if you're not paying attention and gets a small speed boost. I said my reasoning of why but if all I'm getting is "use perks to stop it", then that is a flawed design.
Nobody ever said you needed the perk, I dont..and wraith being a weaker killer is a rather poor example dont you think ? And hes a stealth killer that's pretty outdated

@immortalls96 Her power should be for closing the gap and wacking since she gets a damn long lunge and much faster speed boost coming out of it. Instead, you get her on top of you and immediately swinging once she comes out because she hears you hollering. You can't do anything against it due to servers and since the loudest point is where you're at, she'll just stand next to you, away from the pallet itself. I do it all the time. I got her adept as soon as I bought her. It was very easy. That's my only complaint about spirit. Her phasing itself can be mindgamed with your own scratches but running a perk just to stop her isn't a balanced design. Good luck trying to Head On her also xD
Head on is for memes anyway , and that may work on weaker survivors but not so easy once you get a team that deserves red rank status..the issue lies in the fact that people have come to expect easy ways to strip the killer of power without any real investment or effort..its why spirit suddenly made waves after people mastered her
-

@immortalls96 Its not her phasing that bothers me. Its the fact that she can easily pinpoint perfectly while injured. She can be mindgamed while she's phasing but once you're hurt, it's just super easy to tell what side of the pallet you're at. That's my problem.
Well if she didnt have that then slamming pallets and running would be very safe..and by the time she realizes you've moved shed be screwed..every failed phase is a big punishing cd time..depending on the duration of her phase..its not supposed to be even power..its not a 1v1 game..my idea tries to find middle ground..understanding spirit would allow you to gauge her location based off experiance once you know the moment her phase begins..but she also can be rewarded by her good positioning to deny the tell..this idea comes from a little experiment a friend and I did with object of obsession
-
I dont like this idea because sounds break way too often, scratches are delayed and very buggy, and footsteps as I said come and go..not exactly fair when this is the case, especially when iron will exists already and itd nake walking almost a complete counter..no..I think a better idea is have her husk flicker in and out of reality for a shiort moment the moment her phase starts..it keeps her mind games intact but also allows you to know when the time comes to make a decision because if your paying attention you'll see her phase start up..if you dont or she positions herself well you won't know..I thi k this is as fair as it gets
-
Some of these are good..but freddy and spirit..way overkill and would make them weak..

It's actually quite a bit more than 2 seconds with the removal of heat generation whenever the button isn't being held. Feathering is essentially halved on top of the heat reduction since you're not pressing button half the time.
Well..hope it works out..still unsure about this whole changing hillbilly for the worse just because...

Maybe/probably, once it can be assessed how things play out on live servers.
It's always a crux with changes: ptb have usually a small number of players, oftentimes (as with this) BNFs who already have massive experience in the game, which skews the input.
The difference is this killer is old..one of the oldest..people knew his power already..and frankly, these changes have been a train wreck...they need to be sure Billy's addons are usable because as I stated unlike freddy his base isnt potent enough on it's own

Way too big a downside for such a small gain

Scott gives no good solutions? his trial warmup is being implemented into the game, hes made countless of good solutions, you've clearly never listened to him or seen any of his videos, he even showcases the glowing shards and you refuse to even watch it and say hes no good? atleast hes got proof and to back him up, scott was an Dota 2 game dev that started streaming instead of being a game dev that knows how to code, if he talks about game design than id listen to him over some random forum lurker.
I dont listen to forum lurkers unless I feel they make sense , his trial warmup? Hm..we dont even know how it's going to work and is likely months and months away still, and i have seen his vids..hence why i have my own opinion on him..also I never said anything about the shards , go back and you'll see it wasnt what I was talking about..the issue with scott he went over "boring" killers for instance..and all he did was discredit anyone who disagrees with the label slapped on the killers based off..what? People who never play them? Or how about his Billy addon vid..so he doesnt want killer addons to be useless..but also make very little difference..I mean..what? The guy looks at everything so 1 dimensionally a lot of the time

It's all about moderation..loops are fine if the killer has the tools to fight it..as it stands most font

I'll believe what I can see. And I have seen little pricks of light on the spirits body when she phases so I know this to be true..and scott in my experiance is all talk but offers no solutions..not even a bad one....honestly his line of thinking gives spirit a worse rap than she deserves

Not true..I've seen it in public matches on multiple ocassions..tbh scott is one if the last people I'd go to for truths

Nah Wraith is fine. He could do with like, a small buff, but he's actually a lot stronger than people give him credit for.
Trapper just needs to start with more traps and be able to carry more than one without needing a bag. Also trap spawns need to be nicer to him.
I'm in favor of a locker reload for trapper and a rune system to help wraith chase

Yes I'm a nurse main..cant say I'm happy with her spot atm..but..the devs dont exactly take feedback on her

Not a fallacy when it means the gsme has no long term appeal and..not gaining many players because it has a reputation for screwing over the power role consistantly, as we are seeing now

I do play Nurse. Quite a bit, actually, I've been trying to get good with her since I, like many others, stopped playing her after the nerf. And honestly, the only difficult part about nurse is her mechanics, her actual gameplay is as simple as ever and once you know where your blinks are going she is still quite easy if you know what you are doing because you control everything in the chase.
Do you now?

Running from the killer. That's honestly the hardest thing in the game (including chasing survivors as killer) if you're solo que. You have to know where to loop, what angles to take, how to trick the killer, when the killer is trying to trick you, what walls you can glimpse the killer through, what walls the killer can glimpse you through, how to break LoS effectively (although that was made borderline easy by the chase music overwhelming survivors footsteps instead of muddying them), what pallets are good to play, what are unsafe, how to run and loop whilst looking behind you, how to plan your entire route in a split second, how and when to conserve pallets....
And that's without getting in to chase perks.
Right... play nurse..then you'll know what hard is my friend

I'm guessing the 4 vs 1 is you referring to survivors versus killer? Well, first of all, she doesn't have 0 feedback. She still has volume. That in itself can be used to triangulate a survivors location. Although this may not be the precise solution to her, they should make the amount of feedback on both ends even IMO. Either give survivors slightly more feedback (Not what I think is the right move) or take away a bit of Spirit's. She will still be strong, just not extremely easy.
The survivor should never be equal or above killer in chase..the gake collapses if that happens giving an indicator visually when her phase begins..that way survivors have to pay attention and the spirit needs to worry more of positioning is the way to go
-
Sorry, how does making her have 0 feedback help except make the 4 as individual s as powerful as the 1 in chase..it cant work that wsy

I think you're missing my point. I'm not saying nerf Spirit, Freddy, etc. into the ground. I think it's important for this game to have killers like them that are viable against good survivors and SWF's, but what I'm saying is that it is not fun to play against a killer that essentially leaves you with no options, or force you to play a certain way and that way only.
Every Freddy game is essentially the same one on repeat. Find survivor, snare, down, hook, teleport, pop, repeat. The gameplay against them becomes stale and "boring".
Deathslinger is far from overpowered but he does often leave you with no options, you either run straight and get speared, or juke to avoid the spear and put yourself out of position so he can just M1 you, and that to me is boring to play against.
And if you really want to know what I would do differently about these killers I would say give Spirit any sort of indication that she is phasing. Make it so Freddy is slightly slowed down when he places his snares so they actually take more planning and skill to use, and make it so Deathslinger has to be aiming in for a certain amount of time before he can shoot so he can't just zone survivors simply by existing.
As I posted I can agree with the indicator as long as it's not just given for nothing to everyone on spirit..freddy I disagree because even clown doesnt slow anymore when using his power and it's better at anti loop now due to addons..and death slinger..he would need massive buffs for that to be an option
-

This is not gutting her? It's making Spirit require skill, would you know what it feels like? Her power is BRAINLESS to use at the moment and not even fun playing as her. I know that people want to protect their braindead killers at all costs, but at rank 1? That power becomes an absolutely disgusting thing to play against. As her? A guilty pleasure. But I don't want her to be so awful. I love The Spirit but her power needs a slight change. Not to be gutted. Phase walk would still be powerful for those who can be skillful. Sounds like somebody doesn't know how to.
And how dies making her have to guess fix except make the 1 have less ability in chase than the 4?
-
I had an idea for a "flicker..her husk doing what her passive phasing does at the moment her phase begins..rewards attentive play but keeps her playstyle intact
-
I do..and realistically..the only broken thing killers have are moris..the way I see it..if swf can beat it reliably it's not broken...because swf cannot ever change..so you have to work around it

Nobody on the forums can take anything seriously, huh? Jesus, this is why this game is still a fiasco, nobody in the game can ever be good enough to realize that their favorite killer is overpowered and unbalanced.
So the solution is to gut them..as long as survivors have a good time nothing else matters..the dark times proved it didnt it?..seriously every "solution" only helps survivors..and I'm tired of it..billy has me weary of this bs

No it doesn't. Of course when you first use it's gonna be weird. Most Spirit mains who use stridor have been using stridor for 500+ hours have adjusted to the noise and distance.
It's still not perfect..besides..if you freak out as she gets close it's very disorienting

I didn't mean to limit killers to m1 gameplay, I meant that their powers should be designed for balanced counterplay and mindgames for both sides. Huntress, Billy, Demo, Pig, Ghostface, pallet Freddy, and Wraith all have non-standard ways to deal with loops without making survivors feel like they have no options to counterplay.
I notice your examples are also mostly powerless at tiles..meaning either every loop has to be very weak..or..they lose..no killer gives 0 counterplay options..they just dont let pallets be force fields...theres a significant difference
-

I guess people overuse the argument boring when it comes to killers, and I always find it to be ridiculous when people say they dc when they have to go against certain killers, but in general people have the right to find certain killers boring. Everyone has killers they don't enjoy going against. However it gets pretty laughable as soon as people think those killers need major changes just because they don't like going against them, not considering the people that do enjoy going against those killers.
I suppose so..but..the two are almost always together

For me, boring means a killer that gives survivors few to no viable options in a chase. The proper word is actually "oppressive".
Old legion, good Docs, God nurses, snare Freddy, stridor spirits, and PH are all guilty of this.
Many also include Deathslinger, Clown, Hag, Trapper, and even Ghostface in this list.
It's not whether or not the killer is good at getting 4ks, its whether or not the killer AND survivor both have viable options in a chase to outplay each other.
For me the pinnacle of chase balance is the mindgame at an unsafe McMillan crate loop, the one with equal length sides, assuming an m1 killer of course. Both sides have multiple options here to outplay each other, with high risks involved. Greedy survivors will either get hit or stall the killer depending entirely on their ability to read the next move. Killers can likewise break the pallet at any time, or try to predict the survivors vaults.
Killer powers that take away survivor options, without giving them any new counterplays in chase, are unfun because they bring less to the survivor experience than a trapless trapper would....
The problem is your vision doesnt work..killers need anti looping powers or they cannot win..survivors get too many second chances for that..an m1 killer is the least fun thing I deal with on either side..you feel like it's just walking simulator..I'll be honest I'd leave the game if your vision came to pass..because killer would never be fun

@Nebula said:
This video pretty much perfectly sums up my opinions on what makes a killer "boring".
A boring killer to me is one that win or lose, I don't personally find fun to go against at all because they take skill away from survivor side.
Spirits mindgames are not skill based, it takes no skill to stand still and have a survivor think that you are phasing, it's purely a guessing game, and that's what takes the fun away from me. I want to use my skills that I have learned from years of playing this game to help me escape chases and stay alive, not just have a 50/50 guess with no information.
So... it's better for the killer to have to deal with situations they can do nothing about regularly ? Like the abundance of overly safe loops? Uncounterable perk combos?...why is that not a discussion?... The issue is it looks awfully to me that most "boring" complaints are about legion styling the killer into irrelevancy..and I'd like to note scott offers 0 solutions to this either..so I ask what you want? Because I want killers to feel like killers..not just a hurdle that has an unfair disadvantage vs my friends and i..I'm tired of it
