Twins for me but she myn't be demoted once the new killer comes out.
Gotta say every killer in the last year bar blight has been pretty lame.
I still believe this game peaked in 2019 and its just a constant decline with new content.
-
Frank West is cool but I don't know how he'd fit in.
-
The bad billies moved to easier killers like Spirit and Freddy.
The good billies got punished for actually trying to curve with their chainsaw and go for snipes and dropped him.
That overheat change satisfied no one with more than 10 hours in this game. All he needed was an instasaw nerf. Nothing more.
-
Pyramid Head. Without a doubt. The fact that such a unique character got "generic projectile" and a hook gimmick is a crime.
At first I was disappointed by Blight power not really feeling like it fit his lore and buildup but his power is fantastic.
-
As others have said instadown perks more or less fit this bill. Make your choice sort of fills it by allowing you to apply pressure at the hook without being there, Dragons Grip counters stealth jukes while breaking a generator, Iron Maiden does the same. Noed has counterplay but a good killer applying pressure properly won't give you time to cleanse all totems, especially not solo. You just don't see these perks very often because there are objectively better perks and they're more situational.
That new Trickster perk with the exit gate fits the bill pretty perfectly considering it punishes the survivors for doing their objective like a lot of survivor perks.

I don't think dead hard will be same after rework. Completely different perk probably
Most likely. I think we'll see more complaints about it. I wonder how many downs I've gotten as killer that shouldn't have been from the survivors perspective.
-
As someone who actually tries to properly time their Dead Hards, exhausted on the floor is astoundingly annoying. I'm interested in seeing how strong this perk becomes when its reprogrammed for dedicated servers.
Personally I'm fine with NOED when used for endgame focused builds. Its when a Ruin/Undying/Sloppy butcher Wraith uses it for an extra "please stop being better than me" endgame play that it annoys me.

Kinda annoying because i think i saw a fun fact if a survivor sees you coming from like 20 meters away and starts running its impossible for legion to catch up even with maxed duration.
Technically true. If I see someone gets hit by deep wound I start running in the opposite direction the second I see Legion and that usually outlasts him. He apparently covers more ground overall since the nerf, but the slower move speed means that if the survivor takes initiative you'll never be able to reach them.
-
Legion is still faster than survivors. He only runs about 10% faster than his normal speed since his rework opposed to (I think) 30% with the old version.
Bubba moves progressively faster up to a top speed with his chainsaw.
BL3 is an additional 5% per level. It takes a long time to hit 3 though, shouldn't really ever happen.
A survivor getting 32000 BP is pretty rare due to all the different way they'd need to help out during the match, survivla points are near impossible to get, their BP gain isn't tied to hookstate outside of not escaping.
No, all speed boost perks are tied to the exhaustion status effect. It won't go down whilst running.
Depending on how much of a short run up they can get it is possible to get a fast vault on windows where you'd think it impossible.
Can't really explain this once as I don't know what you mean. A survivor doesn't freeze when offscreen.
As long as the survivors safety pip they won't derank. It has nothing to do with winning or losing. I wouldn't really dwell on this. Rank is more or less meaningless.

It's very in character for Ash to annoy a villain into focusing him above all else. Props.

I mean, the same argument could be used about tunneling. It's quick and efficient and honestly usually the wisest strategy.
But survivors piss and moan about being tunneled like it's not a legit gameplay tactic that's right in the game and not cheating, so obviously it's not bad, then?
Should have started a whataboutism timer.
Yes, you are correct. Tunneling is in the game. It's been confirmed a million times to be intended. You can play that way if you want to. Is it fun for either side? Not really. But its intended.

Need I say any more? This build is used in almost every game at the higher ranks due to how simple it makes defending the generators. There's no skill or (real) counterplay to this combo. There is counterplay to BBQ, hiding in lockers, but doing that when repairing a generator just wastes precious time. That means there's more chance the killer will get to the generator before it's repaired and ruin all your hard work and effort for no effort or investment at all.
The killer just hooks a survivor (easy enough) and sees everyone's aura, and then they can go to generators being worked on and instantly get rid of 30-40 or more seconds of a generator repair progression, counting the fact it applies normal regression ON TOP OF the massive gen progress decrease. There's nothing the survivor can do about it. It doesn't even have a cool down, so if someone tries to repair the generator to make up for the unavoidable regression loss, the killer can just do it again with no penalty. It literally punishes you for playing well, and I don't know if that's healthy.
I realise this will probably be seen as a joke or bait by the people of this forum, but I'm being serious. This build is used in almost every high rank game - even the Decisive Strike + Unbreakable combo isn't used that often, yet the BBQ+Pop combo is the one ignored. It reeks of hypocrisy to me. Both combos are uncounterable without literally stopping doing your objective. Killers should face the same stigma for running these mindless combos that survivors are given, and I'm sick of this community giving them a free pass.
Tl;dr: Killers are hypocrites for complaining about good survivor perk combos when they use an overpowered and uncounterable perk combo every game. It's the small PP build for killer.
Use repressed alliance. Trust me its HILARIOUS. So many killers get tilted by it. They either chase and camp losing gen regression, or they wait it out. Wasting more time waiting for it than time they actually save. It also prevents Ruin regression while blocked.
Pop is a very mediocre perk when you look at the numbers, hiding nearby and quickly tapping the gen pretty much counters it. Pop only excels when someone is hooked by a highly progressed gen. At that point camping and hook trading will regress it extremely quickly.
-

If you have some daft moron just clicking and chasing you, I usually take that as a win cause thats one less person on a gen. How fragile do you have to be to switch targets for someone like that?

If i am in the basement against a trapper, i expect you to leave me be. I will hang and struggle for the maximum amount of time possible so you can work towards escaping.
Hag, Trapper, Leatherface. If you get basement hooked against these killers you're dead.
If I see a teammate get downed because they tried to go for a basement rescue I just run down there and get myself killed so I can get a good match.
-
I think you're going to be disappointed. This game truly has too many variables for an accurate matchmkaing system. When ones DS/BT use or a single down with NOED can change the course of an entire match and completely change the outcome results are going to be extremely skewed.

Survivor is DBD on easy Mode, with premade is just like tutorial difficult.
If you get tired of facing bully squads, take a break of the game, this is DBD, 4 Friends bullying One solo player.
You just can adapt, leave, use oneshoot addons or run Insidious and dont give them points.
When I started at the Game, I used to feel frustrated by these kind of lobbys and It took me more than 700 hours to understand that devs are not interested on killer side, because is the biggest amount of players and they dont want to make them angry, if survis are Happy, they spend money on skins, so do not make them angry.
You have to Accept this and keep It on mind, the actual gameplay is not going to change, BHVR is not going to Nerf survivors as they deserve and playing killer you Will be allways bullyed, tbagged, threated and blablabla.
Just play what you want but keeping this on mind. Or just play the Game they want, be a toxic killer, abuse them, tunnel and slug them, just play like survivors do
If the devs didn't want to upset survivors Pallet Vacuums, original DS, original BT, double pallet jungle gyms, old Mettle of Man and such would all still exist. The game is significantly easier than it once was for killer, veteran killers are leaving left and right because they don't find killer challenging anymore. It seems to me that you just need to spend some more time learning killer if that's how you feel.
Survivor has always been relatively easy but thats kind of the point, their objectives are spread between 4. There's less pressure on individual players.
I wish we could play old builds of this game so you could truly see just how easy 2020/21 killer really is.
-
It's funny seeing people complain about teabagging/FL clicking when the old DBD website used "taunting the killer" as a direct gameplay mechanic to bait chases.
Someone doing something you don't like in a game (that is entirely within the rules/design of the game) is not "toxic". Being an A-hole in the post game chat and saying horrible stuff is toxic, falsely reporting is toxic, back when I was on Xbox some dude used the e-mail in my profile to literally find my IRL facebook account because I used a perk he didn't like. THAT is toxic. This is the only community I've ever seen use that term to describe intentional game design.
I mean can you imagine if people called using grenade launchers in CoD 4 "toxic"? lmao
If that stuff is "toxic" to you, or even better actually baiting you and making you lose matches you need to stop being so easy to fool. It's an 18+ game, a butt dancing animation should not be making your blood vessels pop up on your neck.

*shrug* i do main michael on the killer side and michael brings really not much to the table. No map pressure,no anti loop, no slowdown. And even hit and run isnt as good on him as say ghostface. Unfortunate. On the survivor side ive played the game for probably like 3k hours have all the perks pretty much know maps layouts. Im one of them lol. I do try to speak from a 50/50 side and hold w doesn't feel fun as a 50/50 player imo.
Oof, I know that feel. Micheal was my OG main years back but it just feels like he's been left behind. No real pallet counters, no mobility, mediocre at best stealth (that experienced survivors can detect) and a timed one shot to make up for all of that.
He's long overdue for some QoL changes. Just removing EW1 would do wonders for his early game. Makes me sad that if I want to play Micheal I know I'm shooting myself in the foot by not just playing Ghostface or Pig.
high kill rate due to bad survivors so hes top tier I guess.

Survivors is really easy, especially if you stack up those 2nd chance perks plus an item which basically serves as a 5th perk. Of course there's the swf which I can't blame people for playing with friends, but it just makes every info perk obsolete, map offerings, to make it even easier because some maps are atrocious, I have personal grudge vs corn maps, and whenever I load into one as killer I pretty much accept defeat from the start. Most people play this game on 'easy' difficulty with how much they can tilt the game in their favor, then tbag and click like they achieved something amazing. I just turn off my brain and chase whoever I can find as killer, because after getting 360'd tbagged, clickied, and told to commit suicide every other after game chat, you just don't care anymore I guess. If you bring broken addons or good perk build as killer, you're a crutch tryhard, if you don't bring any addons/perks or even mediocore ones, you get called trash and baby etc. So it's a lose-lose situation most of the time. I love this game, but over time it lost it's identity imo, because killers are joke most of the games, that's why you see same few killers at red ranks all the time.
I actually don't see as much toxicity as I used to. It's still bad but not as bad as it once was. It was REALLY bad on Xbox but after moving to PC most players are pretty chill. I've actually had tons of good convos with killers/survivors after matches on PC. Way more good than bad. On console I would get told to kill myself, get cancer, etc a hundred times a day. I even got reported so much my xbox account got a warning and put into low priority matchmaking in other games, just because I won as killer. I literally never even replied to hate.
If you're having that hard of a time I'd recommend some of the killer guides on youtube on how to play the more common tiles. Flashlights are also pretty easily countered at unsafe pallets and when picking up a survivor, stand still above the survivor and wait, if nothing happens turn around and way. Any survivor thats within range will have to start running to be infront of you and will usually be tricked by it.
Also, if you're on PC, turn off post game chat and make it so only friend can post messages on your profile. It does wonders for your mental health.

Eh not only those midwich has gens in the middle of the halls. Haddonfield has a gen in the middle of the road and one beside a building which the survivor can just run along the buildings side. Autohaven...is autohaven...red forest kinda the same just see which way the killers coming from and run. And yeah dead hard if it can get you to a loop does extend very much but sprint burst gives a bunch of distance on the killer. Really any map that gives the survivor straightways from a gen which is kinda a lot i can think of 3 on temple of purgation. Any real big map. The most balanced map in a w meta is dead dawg because you cant just hold w you eventually have to turn way sooner than other maps.
Midwich and Haddonfield are special cases, I don't think anyone likes those maps. Especially Midwich, that map is truly awful for everyone but Blight and maybe Slinger. I think the problem here is you're realising that any killer that lacks mobility is almost always mid tier at best. That's just a problem with DBD as a whole.

Yes, I didn't realize how much whataboutism there would be lol. Saying "Well what about SWF with keys" isn't helpful.
It's funny seeing users who have previously complained about it in their own threads immediately break out the "BUT WHAT ABOUT [blank]". Its a problem with the whole community, not just here. It's a problem with every asymmetrical game I've ever played.
People experienced in one form of gameplay but not the other usually resort to it when something they like/use often gets criticised. There's a major lack of impartiality on these forums that makes serious balance discussion very difficult.

I know, for some survivors, they might not understand. Let me explain.
- This new Exhaustion perk might be better than dead hard, here's why?
Let's work out the full potential.
- You stun a killer, 2 second stun
- The killer breaks a pallet, 2 seconds
- You get a 4 SECOND sprint burst
Seems pretty fair, this perk is also a counter to spirit fury and enduring, which Is seriously a strong chase combo.
I'm glad they upped the duration even if only a little. It was too situational to just give the basic 3 second boost. It's very hard to stun an experienced killer unless they specifically let you thank to End/Fury. All in all the perks in this chapter look like a lot of fun. Better than the last few chapters.

I'm also not saying you are required to not use iri head, i'm just asking what the thought process behind it is. Like why people don't want to improve at the game and want to be handed wins.
You've just opened a big ol' can of whataboutism knowing this forum.
For some players winning is everything, even if it means taking shortcuts. The dopamine from winning is the "fun" for them, not the actual gameplay. They don't care if you or they have fun as long as they win.
I like to win, sure. But I also want to have fun. It's why I tend to only play low/mid tier killers nowadays and avoid meta/boring perkbuilds, I'm sort of the opposite in that as long as the match was tense and challenging, I don't really care about the outcome. Spirit/Fred/Slinger all made chases short and boring and that was where the fun in the game was for me. But for someone who loves those killers their fun comes from the fact that chases are short and easy, and the fun comes from elsewhere for them.

You must be lucky then. Where I’m from late at night is when I play and I get nothing but the sweat 4 man red rank squads.
I can still get somewhat decent teams during the daytime but the wait times are long. Once all the survivors are on at night the queues are instant but the matches are mind gratingly dull. I assume its just the sheer volume of survivors vs killers. I would kill to have matches that actually challenge me again and aren't just "hook, go to gen, down, hook, repeat".

Doesnt matter where you approach depending on the maps because the killer needs to cut the survivor off. Maps like coldwind,Haddonfield,Midwich,Red forest. The survivor can just run in any direction opposite of the killer giving the killer no cut off. (And if they use sprint burst that makes the chase take basically 60 seconds)
That pretty much exclusively applies to gens in the middle of a field. 90% of gens in this game are in a tile on the border of a map or in buildings. Sprint Burst also means no Dead Hard, which is significantly stronger at extending chases.

Since I really only play two M1 killers (Wraith and Demo) I sometimes struggle with map pressure because the survivors I usually get are pretty decent but at the same time it helps me learn and get better at them.
That makes sense. Wraith has always been in a weird spot, he's gone through several power overhauls and always been bad to mediocre, that said I've always liked playing him despite his simplicity. I'm interested in seeing how his new cloaked speed affects his map pressure long term, its a change he's needed for a long time and I'm glad the devs finally listened. I think that hit and run Wraith build is about to become very dangerous.
Demo I enjoy a lot but I only really do well when I play very defensively with portals at gens. Similar to Hag. Very few people seem to play him, I guess its for the same reason people don't like to play Hag.
-
People that complain about this are the same players that approach the gen from the same direction every time with the same predictable plays.

Can I ask what you find stressful about killer? Genuine question not trying to be cocky or anything. I know it might come across that way from my posts.
For me killer is the easiest its ever been to the point of boredom and the amount of tools killers have for most situations now compared to 2 years ago is crazy.
I suppose map choice annoys me a lot. Hawkins for example makes me want to shut off the game.
-
Dunno. Feels like cheating yourself out of gameplay. You'll most likely get at least 1 DC as there's no way of even knowing if its an Iri at match start. I've made smart plays where I'd sacrifice a health state to get my speed boost to escape a bad situa-HAHA just kidding iridiscent head.

Have to agree with everything you said.
Especially breakable walls.
Nothing shows what a waste of time and effort those walls are better than maps like Wretched Shop. They don't know if they want them to be a buff for killer or survivor. Depending on where that window spawns its either a god window or less than worthless. Such a pointless waste of time.

You're not the only one, I use to play killer a lot back in the day but now it's just not enjoyable anymore.
Once I have the achievements on the killer they only get brought out again for daily's and archive challenges. Other than that I stick to survivor or play another game instead.
Same here. Mainly just play solo survivor now.
It's a mix between killer becoming "too easy" and new content being boring in some respects. I've been playing since 2017 so I got used to that challenge, over time due to killers buffs (a lot of which were needed, some not) and pretty significant but relatively fair survivors nerfs, the game is just too easy now. The SWF god sqauds still make this game a joke unless you're a god Nurse, sure.
But I actually don't remember the last time I faced a good team. They're so incredibly rare, the vast majority of survivors are very bad (though the same is true with killer, Ruin/Undying has inflated a lot of killers skill much like SWF. Cleanse a Freddy's Ruin 2 minutes in and watch him panic). And I have very little faith in this MMR system.
In regards to new content the only killer released in the last 4/5 chapters I actually enjoyed playing is Blight, he's fantastic. Everything else sucked and I got bored of them within 2 weeks. Pyramid head was extremely unimaginitive in power design and is exclusively played by tunnelers. Deathslinger may as well just teleport you to a hook when he sees you thanks to those hitscan-like insta shots, you can pull off some cool shots and I like the reeling 'em in part. But he's very dull outside of that. Twins is just horrendously boring to play as/against, and trickster just looks like a worse hybrid of Huntress and Legion. They're either making dull hybrids of existing killers, or making killers that have minimal to no counterplay making for boring matches for both sides.
Also no new maps, breakable walls are a pointlessly forced mechanic, new perks, much like new killers are just worse/objectively better versions of existing perks, I could go on.
-
If you think optimal looping and playing around red stain mindgames doesn't take skill you don't play against good killers. Yes, looping is easy to learn, but optimal looping and avoiding mindgames actually takes a lot of knowledge of killer tricks and fast reactions.
I still have massive room for improvement as survivor, yet more than half the killers on the roster I've more or less hit the skill ceiling as its so low.
The simple fact is that a lot of killers are very simple and easy. They might not be strong, but theres minimal skill required to master them. Ghostface and Shape are perfect examples, Wraith is another one. Extroardinarily shallow.

can you give me some advice on the killer you recommend?

None of them are difficult to use. I would say Deathslinger is the most mechanically demanding but he's just instant ads and shoot.
Legion is the easiest but only by a hair.
Spirit is the most fun to play as for sure, god help you playing against a 5+ hours spirit with stacked slowdown. Legions sense of speed was gutted and, again, Slinger is just point and shoot. Very boring.
Spirits perks are decent. Legion's got 1 or 2 good ones. Slingers are so bad I can't even remember them.
If you want to win with minimal learning required, Spirit.
Want mass DCs? Slinger.
Want to lose? Legion.

I've probably lost more games to Unbreakable than any other perk so I dislike that one a lot, but I get why it exists. Being slugged is very dull.
There aren't really many I "hate". Honestly I love getting caught off guard by a survivor using an uncommon perk to trick me in a chase or something.

I stayed silent about this topic, because I really wanted to see the community's reaction. These are simply observations, so let's dive straight in.
Starting from the killer side, some killer mains when they heard the news, had to quickly change their pants, because they have almost 30 forums complaining about Ds and bhvr finally heard their prayers.
The other 50% of the killer playerbase, maybe less than 50, don't really give a #########, because it was something that they could predict and play around, but it was a good change, they suppose
On the other side of the spectrum, some survivor mains deleted the game the moment they heard about the ds change, because they were so addicted on running it. They think it's totally fair to do a gen in front of the killer because they have ds, or finish 1 gen with a teammate, get downed and still having ds active. These players either complain in the forums or they cry in bed because bhvr betrayed their trust.
Now the other half, and more reasonable survivor playerbase are kinda annoyed that they can't do gens because ds will deactivate, but they guess that the change was worth making because ds was mega powerful. They will probably remove it from their build, but it's not the end of the world for them.
What do you guys think about my observations? Notify me down below.
I don't tunnel but I'm happy about this DS change because I'll no longer be DS'd by the 3rd identical Dwight that divebombed the hook with BT 30 seconds after he was saved. This new DS wont punish good killers who dont tunnel which is nice. People that are complaning about it still working in locker are outing themselves as hardcore tunnelers as if its active in that situation in this new version than you literally could have only tunneled off hook.
As survivor I stopped using DS well before the current version so I don't really care. If you're deleting the game over 1 perk, either side, that's pretty pathetic.

Nerf Freddy or make him actually skill based. Rework Spirit to not be almost entirely reliant on sound and 1 sided guesses. Make ghostfaces reveal more consistent

This. A game that is going to be balanced around "the best", CS for example. Is literally built around it from the ground up. This was a small scale early access title by a team of 20 or less people that blew up.

this tactic would only really work in a thin corridor where the survivor you supposedly aren't chasing is already infront of you. People try to do this to me all the time and its as simple as turning 90 degrees and running in the same direction. They're giving you free pressure against their team. There's no reason to be annoyed by it.
When I see people do that I go "neat thanks for letting your team down".
-
Honestly the only part I really care about is that, as a non-tunneler I should hopefully never get DS'ed again.
There were times whne I was doing so well that I'd get hit by a DS on its last seconds and that would lead to a BT save or something and the game would (unfairly) snowball out of control. That should be a thing of the past now.

that's not how the game works. if they run in front of you in a certain range, the chase starts.
it doesn't matter if you ignore them
you can easily look away from them and it'll break chase very quickly, also not running after them.

Funny thing about this game.
Historically, the more killers get the nerfs they want, the less killers proportionally play the game.
This game used to be a lot tougher for killers, but back then there were too many killers and not enough survivors. Killers got all the nerfs they wanted. Brighter maps, brighter clothes, removal of palette vacuums, bloodlust, removal of most god loops, auto window blocking, Exhaustion nerf, Mettle nerf, BL nerf, DS nerf, another DS nerf, etc.
Yet somehow instead of improving the play experience for killers it actually made it worse.
Who knows why, but judging from the queues there are less and less killers playing the game compared to survivors.
So strictly speaking killers getting the nerfs they want might not actually be the right direction for this game.
I wouldn't say its difficulty that stopped me from playing as much. The game IS a lot, A LOT easier than it was when I started killer. It's just become boring. No new mechanics really in a couple of years. Every so often a new killer with a new playstyle but if you don't like it? 3 months minimum before a potentially fun one.
3 of the last 4 killers have been painfully dull to play and a nightmare to play against.
I'd say bad killer/map design and stagnant gameplay is whats driving me away.

Don't know about you but if a survivor tries to run in front of me when I'm chasing someone else or patrolling gens I just ignore them and don't activate the chase. It's as easy as ignoring a flashlight clicker.
Thats 1 player not on a gen, 2 if I I'm already on someone.

Hard disagree. You don't take into account many things that happen during a match, but that's ok. We'll agree to disagree.
I'm aware of how dynamic matches can be. But if you have an equally skilled/experienced team against a killer who decides to camp it should be a no brainer to rush gens and punish. Problem is braindead morons with WGLF that are so desperate for BP that they'll sit there for 2 entire minutes, try for a last second save and also die. I see it too often even in red ranks.
But thats not the killers fault. Its entirely the survivors. The killer is throwing the match away out of spite/lack of skill. Camping only works if the survivors are idiots.

Are you implying that every single match progresses the same way?
What if they have slow down perks? What if they didn't immediately camp? Too many variables to imply that camping and tunneling is black and white.
There isn't a single actually decent gen slowdown perk right now that just gives you free pressure if you stand by a hook. Even Corrupt doesnt have an effect when camping.

It's not, but thanks at the attempt of providing actual constructive feedback.

2 minutes on the hook is more than 3 gens for a smart team, friendo. And thats not counting the time that first chase and hook takes.
