I think a good buff for distortion would be to instead make it so that you regain the tokens just increase the number of tokens from 3 to 6
-
@GoodBoyKaru said:
I'd nerf your buffed Breakout/Aftercare ones like @Dustin above me suggested, however in terms of Distortion I feel like this could be a better buff:
Distortion
You start the trial with 3 tokens. Whenever the killer reads your aura, Distortion activates and a token is consumed.
For the next 6/8/10 seconds, your Aura and Scratch marks will not be shown to the killer.
Distortion does not activate while in the Dying State, or while affected by Bear Traps.
You regenerate 1 token every time a generator is completed or you cleanse a totem.
Thought process: Give it an easy way of regenerating tokens- well just doing gens or totems. I added in totems because I feel like encouraging people to cleanse totems more would help slow down game speeds. I kept everything else the same.
Wouldn't getting a token after everytime a generator is complete be pointless if the killer is running bitter murmur?
-
Im sorry i didn't read it fully. Protection hits are counted when the person your taking a hit for is injured. Just make sure to remember that the other person your taking a hit for is injured and it will count

You mean like flip-flop and another perk or 2? I've seen that build before on a prior SWF's team. Didn't like their toxic playstyle so I slugged them all and let them bleed out.
Guess these guys thought flashlights was all they need.
How were they playing toxic? If you don't mind me asking
-
Thank you nice pyramid head man
-
I agree. You can't really make an informed opinion on something if you don't have accurate experience or research into it
-
I can definitely agree with this post and say that killers can have a hard time and there is no need to be toxic to another person. All this does is add on to the toxic cycle. I can also agree with the fact that i am trash when playing swf for the most part but playing swf has also made me better and i can handle myself for the most part.

They have noed, but unlike the survivor perks especially when you stack the survivor perks it can be countered, every other perk usually requires the killer to do something to get an effect because most passive killer effects are just ok at best and monstrous shrine at worst
Ok then. So the big problem with second chance perks is how they stack on with each other to give multiple second chances right? But on their own they're relatively fine?

Perk that gives someone a second chance
Dead hard gives extra distance that can extend a chase after they usually made a mistake
Decisive Strike if you die too soon after dying you jump off the killers shoulder
Unbreakable pick yourself up which cripples slug heavy killers pretty hard
Adrenaline, Lets you complete the last gen in the killers face, get picked up from across the map from the final gen popping, get off hook healed, overall just a wide range of utility and a speedboost
Borrowed time gives the guy you unhook a extra hit for 15 seconds
Iron will when glitchy gives you no sound and can easily make the killer lose you or not be able to use their power to its full effect
those are the main ones, and they are all meta
Well what about killers? Do they have second chance perks too?
-
@bjorksnas said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1580242#Comment_1580242
Kinda, the second chance it gives is usually when sound just bugs out and instead of making footsteps and breathing noises which they always should sometimes it just removes all 3, and against killers like nurse, spirit, and others who chase indirectly its a pain in the ass and can cause them to easily miss use and miss abilities due to absolutely no feedback
but when it functions as intended its not a second chance perk but its still strong
Thanks for explaining but if you don't mind me asking what is a good definition for what a second chance perk is?

Well, it was announced to be Beta, so it was going to be turned off anyway at some point. They were testing it, gathering data, and then would adjust from there. The next iteration might be the "live" version, or we might get more Beta phases yet.
But if they announce it as a Beta system, don't expect it to stick around permanently.
I guess you got a point, but i hope it comes back soon.
-
Um,,, its in beta? (IDK?)
-
Im sorry this happen to you. But this is why I play SWF instead of solo The unknown variable of having a good or bad teammate (mostly bad and unreliable) is just too much for me.
-
For me i try and limit myself to one meta perk per game, (and i always take DS or DH) just to be fair. I just can't see myself not bringing it as a good safety net. I feel i'm dealing with an unpredictable variable of the killer, sometimes i get use out of it sometimes i don't but the safety net of not being tunneled of the hook is to take me out of the game is good
-
@LordRegal said:
DS has three sides for me as a killer (I refuse to use it as a survivor because I don't use teachables on survivors and I don't play Laurie).
Side 1: If it's used defensively, where I objectively have tunneled you (though usually because the rescuer found a portal to Narnia), then yes, that's a good use of the perk and it's my fault I got hit with it.
Side 2: If it's used offensively, where you're in my face constantly, quick vaulting into lockers, and being an insufferable (insert bad word here)...that's when I hate the perk most, because I can do literally nothing about it, especially since you have to assume people playing like that have unbreakable too, so now they're literally invincible for a minute.
Side 3: If it's the 59 second DS, where I've gone and found someone else, chased them, downed them, hooked them, and then just happened to find you and downed you again, only to be hit by it...that just feels unfair and punishing me for not having four physical timers near me, one for each survivor, where I start them counting when an unhook happens. I didn't tunnel, I didn't play scummy, but because you have a get out of jail free card I get punished because I happened to find you after hooking the other person. Even "better" when there's fewer than four survivors left in the match.
So the main problem with DS is that its used to be toxic and gives the player 60 second invincibility to do what ever they want. Did I summarize that up good
-
What benefit for the survivor would there be if they could break the wall? Also it has a lengthy cooldown. It would be wasted to use it for breakable walls.
To buff it i would say give it the ability to see the auras of dropped unbroken pallets.
-
I feel there is soo much you could do with this killer. I want them to use the serum in some way. I was thinking of when he is running he could possibly leave pools of serum that if the survivor walked in it the would have serum all over them that would make them easier to see and to get rid of it they would have to wipe themselves off for a few seconds. (maybe also if they don't and get on a gen then it could possibly slow down the gen repair speed). That could give him more variety as well
-
This perk also seems like a good counter to thanatophobia

Thank you
Thanks so much for acknowledging console. But there is a another problem on console that has been apparent for quite a while. When im playing swf after a while a glitch would occur that would say someone is still in a match when they aren't. Sometimes the lobby wouldn't me show my friends when my friends say they are in the lobby with me and vice versa. Other times it would not show all of us ready when in fact we were. this things would happen multiple times and to fix this we would all have to restart The game completely. it would get extremely tedious to do so. This has been in the game for a while and i feel no one has brought it to the devs attention. Is it possible you can tell them about this as well?

The last matchmaking system was just as bad too wasn't it? Long wait times and still not being paired up with killers and survivors your rank. If both systems are very ineffective and flawed what direction is DBD supposed to go in making a good and fair matchmaking? And shouldn't we choose the system that have the least amount of problems for people?(there's no such thing as a perfect system)

Half the way to counter it is identifying if the killer has it or not. Its one of the most run obsession perks for killers, so if there is an obsession and you dont have an obsession perk, keep it in mind. It also gets more easy to notice the more stacks they have.
Once you realise they have it, try to not feed them stacks. if you're 100% certain they have it, use the small speed burst you get to move to a safer location, rather than just holding W for distance. And if you are about to be downed, try to force them to grab you instead, easiest via lockers, as it denies them a stack.
If you are the obsession and you think they have it, try to bodyblock for your teammates, getting hits that you can easily heal merely reduces the killers stacks. However ultimately, the perk can't carry a killer, merely help them snowball in the midgame. The biggest counter is to just crank out gens and escape. He can't hit you if you're outside the exit gates
Thanks so much for the tips i will be sure to remember it
-
@IceCreamPrincess said:
The killers who best make use of it are ones that lack lethality of instadowns, and can easily get stacks of it. Its not a perk you can just throw on any killer. Getting stacks of STBFL really cuts on the downtime of wiping your weapon, which also means you can continue a chase or hit again so much faster.
Its main allure is that you can go back to moving at full speed faster after a hit, so survivors get dramatically less distance from you hitting them. Add that with being able to down survivors attempting to sabotage hooks in your face, or those trying to bodyblock as you go to a hook, or finish a 99% gen etc.
For alot of killers, notably trapper, pig and demogorgon you can easily get stacks as well as not lose them when going for the obsession. The downside of the obsession losing you stacks is lessened anyway due to you getting more pressure from injuring/downing them
Is it the best perk? God no, but when it gets rolling it is a very good perk, ans after a few matches with it you'll really see its power
Whenever i play against it in a match it seems to be overpowered on certain killers (not saying that it is) any tips to help counter against it.
-
I think tenacity is fine by itself ( even though your change seems good) but i think a good buff for flip flop could be so that you see the auras of nearby hooks on the ground so that you could you can crawl away from them so that you could more likely wiggle out with it and making it more useful.
-
Wouldn't that be disrespectful to the families of the victims of the serial killer?
-
Im all for being nice to killers. As a community we should all come together to end the toxicity
-
As a survivor main i don't think he is overpowered, or at least not as much as before. The only thing i find annoying about him is how fast he is though. 2 seconds in the chase and he is already behind me

I main DS. In all honesty I do not have much experience going against him but if you want to know what works on me.
- Assume I’ll fake shots if you have full health. The average DS at least knows it’s more beneficial to fake, catch up, smack, aim and fire to secure the down. Taking a shot for the start of the chase means a hit but then a slow down, reload, and dealing with your momentary sprint burst. If you just run forward while I fake shots then I’ve wasted time and a clear shot. I’ll debate if I should take it for real or not, your probably dancing on the edge of my long shot zone and making me nervous and less confident about my shot now.
- Only drop pallets early if you are hurt. Dance and challenge DS if your healthy. Usually the worse that can happen is he spears you and either drags you in for a hit or breaks chain, either way you get to waste time and speed away safely.
- Auto aim can mess with DS, if your chained and on the other side of a window. Just slide hard right or left and hold it the best you can. If he can’t drag you towards the middle then he might mess up and give you a free let go. I feel fairly experienced and I still get occasionally cucked by that window tech.
- If your Obsession (specially if you don’t run DS) go ahead and assume DS is running STBL, it’s a popular choice for DS. He may purposely ignore you to save stacks. Use that knowledge to help team do easy gens or run in to block a hit or chain hit. You’ll be doing more then helping a teammate, you’ll also be hurting his perk/game plan.
- Lastly, he makes a sound que when he reloads. If he misses his shot or even if he spears and hits you, he is now a nearly harmless 110% speed M1 killer. You should treat a gun ready DS and a unarmed DS differently. If you don’t pay attention and assume he reloaded the he can still bait you. Sometimes I’ll try save time by not reloading and if they look back I’ll still fake a shot to see if I get a reaction to benefit me. Some people don’t play with headsets or don’t care to pay attention~
Thanks so much i will keep all of this in mind

I hate the people who respond just "no" to a thread.
But literally... No.
He has counterplay, but no 100% counterplay, as no killer should have. Hug main buildings and drop pallets early.
He's subjective for both sides, I personally love versing him and playing him.
Chasing is fun with slinger, so I have no problem downing, hooking, searching etc. It's a fun cycle.
Gen rushing isn't the only thing to do against him, do well in chases and you don't have to devote to gens.
He doesn't need pressure, at all. If he proxy camps and tunnels he can win most teams if he plays with no mistakes (which is borderline impossible).
The absolute only thing he needs right now is a reduced missed shot cooldown to promote going for more shots.
Anymore tips against deathslinger? I have been trying to find other ways to do well against him

When you're attempting to heal a survivor from Dying State to Injured, do not start healing them if their recovery bar is a low %. The killer sees, on the HUD, that the Bleed Out Timer is paused. You're better off letting them recover it to a higher % and heal them from there. Unless the killer has zero intention of picking the person up (DS) most of the time a killer will come back and just get more momentum off of that slug.
Thanks so much for the tip. Do you have any other tips im trying to get better as survivor?

I think it should give more stacks. Like 5 instead of 3 due to how many aura reading perk and addons there are. Especially in red ranks

Well I would think if he was added into the game I would say he puts a springlock on you, or have hidden cameras throughout the map where he can know of survivors locations so when a survivor is working on a gen and a camera is nearby he could be watching you and you wouldn't know it until it was too late, but that's just me though.
Mayby it could be a surprise attack jump scare like in the game. if a certain condition have been met they can insta down the survivor.

While the games are not for everyone the lore is actually pretty deep/100% horror.
The suits (anamatronics) are inhabited by the souls of dead children, they basically roam/haunt the pizza place trying to enact revenge upon the one who killed them/those in their way.
So they don't just "scare you" (in fact one of the games they literally scoop out someones insides and turn them into a human body with a robot exoskeleton) but do in fact kill people.
Weapons are not really an issue. They could punch, scratch, use any item seen from the games (list goes on).
I'll say this again, I'm not a fan of the games but the lore 100% could work in DBDs setting. Hell even "William Afton" (think that was the killers name) could be the survivor because the whole point is that the animatronics want him to suffer.
Now that you put it like that i would actually like that to be in the game. Any idea on the killer and survivor perks?

@Dabihwow said:
Hey guys its Dabih and I wanted to talk about a subject I wanted to talk about but didn't have the courage to mostly because of what this subject is. And that is Springtrap being in DBD, I know how controversial this is, and how many people hate the idea. But this is something I wanted to get off my shoulders and talk about. So to begin why I think he would be a great addition is because he is a memorable and iconic character in the horror genre, and the Fnaf game is a very memorable, popular, and important pinnacle of the horror franchise. And the fact that the game is painted to some as a kids game is kinda sad to me, the thing is that Fnaf is considered this because of its audience. When it came out it was never intended to be for a younger audience but during the time it was released it was difficult to control what you could watch on Youtube and I think you know the rest of the story. But by then the damage was done and Scott Cawthon couldn't really do anything( meaning: make it more graphic and violent, or swearing/ basically anything to make the game rated M) about it when a great majority of fans of the game were young
I say Fnaf is a pinnacle of horror for its jump scares, all of those who played the original 4 know what I'm talking about there was a level of fear that was within Fnaf that made it very uncomfortable to play, it was just the tone it had. I think it was a smart to create something that we usually would love and make it into something terrifying works greatly and at times you felt utterly helpless also that heightened the fear within the games. The Jumpscares are terrifying for the fact it was right in front in your face made it all the more scary and were unsuspecting. I think the franchise has made its mark in the history of horror.
Now here is a personal level for me why I would love to see Spring trap in the game. When I was growing up in school i would here people talk about a game called Five Nights at Freddys, I was curious and looked it up and to my surprise it was popular seriously back then if you looked up fnaf you would see tons of youtube videos with theories and gameplay, I mean this was the crave back then and still is today(to some degree). A group in my school who were big fans of the franchise had a little get together at times, I was social outcast and me being a fan of the game and actually connecting with people that enjoyed what I enjoyed made me feel accepted. I joined the group and I became happier and more self esteem, we had many great discussions sharing our experiences of the game, they were fun. Overtime I felt better about myself and I didn't consider myself an outcast anymore, in a way FNAF has changed my life for the long run. Even when it became more kid friendly at times I reminded myself this is a game I will stick with for a long long time, because it really was a dark and twisted series. After a while my love for the franchise died slightly, and this when I got into dbd and when I heard someone started a petition to get Springtrap in the game I was down for it immediately. I really want this to be in the game because fnaf was the first ever horror series I actually got into, I mean this was my childhood, this game made me into a huge fan of horror and introduced me to a genre I truly love, and I thank the game for that, it would make me and some other people happy to see the game that cemented my love for horror in general into dbd, and honestly I think if it were ever to come to the game it will show what Fnaf could've been, a darker more gruesome tone than what was given. Thank you that is all I have to say and I know I'm digging my grave but that's okay, I'm willing to admit that I am someone who supports this.
Hypothetically if we did get a FNAF chapter, how would it play out? Would we get a new chapter with the killer animatronic and a new survivor or just a killer? Would there be a new map and if yes what would it be? What about cosmetics? Would it be like the legion and have multiple animatronics? I won't ask about the perks or killer power because i will leave that to the devs
-
i don't know if FNAF would be good for the game, but i could get behind an original animatronic or robot killer. That could be fun

If you read my entire post you would understand that survivors in pre-game lobby right now can tell what killer they are going against before the match starts. With that knowledge you can plan your perks around the killer, and still last second item swap.
You think its fair for a trapper to load into a match where no survivors are using items, then last second you have a key, a map, and two toolboxes with BNP on them, giving the killer no time to adjust?
What is the title of the post ? i would like to read it

I don’t think Hag is broken or unfun to go against, but then again I play a lot of Hag myself so I know how to counter her usually and enjoy trying.
You need to try and actively dismantle her traps, like you would with Trapper. If you see a trap (they’re visible most places, not in grass though) you can walk towards it and set it off right at the edge of the trap’s area of effect. Then run backwards away from it and even if the Hag teleports quickly she won’t be able to hit you. Or if you trip a trap and run behind a wall, the Hag will teleport and if they swing they’ll just smack the wall (they teleport facing you).
If she’s ever otherwise occupied (carrying a downed survivor, or on the other side of the map) you should run around loops and pathways tripping any trap you can find. Or if the Hag is the kind to get tunnel vision, do it while she’s committed to a chase.
The biggest problem with facing Hag is that most survivors never play her or face her so they don’t really know how to deal with her. She’s especially strong against solo teams since even one weak team member will probably kill everyone by setting off traps at the worst times.
But she’s a slow killer and she relies entirely on set up. If you waste enough of her time dismantling her trap web, you should buy your teammates enough time to do all the gens.
Thanks for the tip on how to go against hag. I didn't know how to deal with her because i don't see a lot of people play her
