i would like to update this, after trying the wraith, the nurse, i tested the huntress and it was easier for me, i was finally able to hit more people and won my first round, with a level 1 huntress lol, i dont know what happened to one of the players, but after i killed him his symbol changed to a small ball with some sort of two arms, one on each side of the ball, never saw him again, finally !
Huntress is very satisfying to play. If you are interested the best Huntress player I know of is CoconutRTS.
Nurse is an interesting killer to say the least but it's usually best to leave her aside for a while and focus on game mechanics with easier killers. (The first time I've played with her, a long time ago, I couldn't imagine doing it ever again. Now she is my main killer.)
It's also a good idea to play both sides of the game, even if you have a preference. (Know your enemy ...)

There is a test going on. You can see a forum "April 12" if you go on the top page of the forums.
I've tried with several killer strengths (my bad, average and good killers) and it tends to stabilize after a few matches.
-
The flannel shows you exactly where she should land and no, you cannot really land everwhere nor in a survivor (something good survivor use against the Nurse). That's part of the steep learning curve.
I'd suggest you search for a Nurse advice thread on this forum. There was a discussion for someone learning her on PC. You may find something interesting.
-
Yes, often. And before MMR I wouldn't have minded.
Now if I'm trying that I get an ever worse next game so the plan is 3 kills with 2 gens left and a hatch.
-
So far I got self-(un)hooking, speed-running, flying, dropping through the floor, insta-gen, exit-door walking, insta-wiggling, wall-hacking and impervious to poison and hits.
Some were subtle, some not.
-
You should play both roles if you want to have any chance to improve.
As suggested you can use queue times to decide what to play.
(And yes, survivor is kind of boring as most of the time you play quick-time events while somebody else is having fun with the killer)

I’m talking good nurses. Like the ones the survivor community say there is. I have yet to see low rank nurses demolish
There are good Nurses but there aren't any "gods". "god" is just another term for "lucky this once". It's basically the same psychological mechanic involved in the survivorship bias (no pun intended). I've been called a "god Nurse" only because I was lucky in a prediction or two in a game. I can tell you I'm not. I'm not even sure I'm good (given how many times I get my ass whooped).
I'm pretty sure plenty of survivors are going against weak Nurses as many aren't too afraid.
Sometimes I'm matched with beginners (usually after a loss, thanks MMR, talk about adding insult to injury). When it happens I go soft, I make stupid mistakes, I hit a wall or a rock so they have have long chases and do gens. I'm not too fond of spanking newbies.
However, sometimes instead of doing their gens and hiding, there is one or two in the group starting to taunt the "stupid Nurse", clicking, tea-bagging, gesturing to come ... That clearly shows they've versed inexperienced Nurses and know there isn't anything to be afraid of. (And yes, these survivors have a very low life expectancy but that's beside the point.)

Everyone says that but doesn’t say how to rework it. She’s been here since day 1, so surely you have a rework in mind?
She hasn't been here since day 1 and has been reworked several time already. The problem isn't on her side.
I've seen enough survivor juking me to know the difference between the ones who have DC hearing one blink and the ones who tried to learn something.
@IlliterateGenocide said:
Sure nurse is hard to learn. But to me that is not an excuse for them to be that strong. I'm not sure what I would do to her to make her not as broken.
Because she is hard to balance, she is either going to be broken or weak.
A good nurse will never lose against the average survivor.
Survivors, plural. Ideally no survivor is supposed to win against any killer.
He can not run in a straight line in plain sight. Immersive play, breaking line of sight, being unpredictable, ... goes a long way (Iron Will, Dead Hard, Shadow Step). While the killer wastes time finding a survivor, gens can fly. I've lost against average survivors only because I can only be at one place and they pushed through gens. Even if a chase only lasts 30 seconds (and that would be against really weak survivors, the kind running into me looking behind them) I still have to hook him and find the others.
-
Yes, exactly. If they played her they would see how actually good survivors are doing against her. (But they would have to do something difficult so maybe it's easier to cry?)

biased and exaggerated.. you forgot nurse not easy as survivor
just other killers not being taken seriously because the nurse is too strong right now
and otz is not a bible kid, he is average sweaty player, nothing more
Not to mention he doesn't seem to take into account he isn't an average player and shouldn't assume every player is at his level. Yet, he does.
-
An addendum: it's kind of funny how some say Nurse ignores "the laws of the game" when she is part of the game and thus part of the laws. (Not specifically on this thread.) Instead they should say "ignores the laws they've made up for the game". Accuracy is key.
-
Some survivor (mains) say that because Nurse isn't easily avoided with the basic loop-DH-pallet tactic and Blight has a good map coverage and basically can be on you in no time either. (Among other details.)
That opinion is flawed of course. Nurse has plenty of weaknesses (just not the same than a Trapper or any mostly M1 killer) as Blight does. Each killer should be versed using a different tactic.
I find good survivors able to dodge me (as Nurse) all the time. Yesterday I went against a guy with whom I had minute-long chases. (And still, I've been called a "God" Nurse by many players who do not realize I was only lucky a few times or they were simply not very good to begin with).
The counter argument for the ones calling any killer OP is simple. They only need to take that killer for a spin, win lots of games and see how "easy" they have it when they verse actually good survivors. (And maybe learn from them how to beat that killer). Strangely enough, nobody seems to ever does this (with one exception, on this forum, I'm sorry I forgot his name). I guess learning is hard and complaining is easier.
Note that on the last statistics, Nurse has the lowest kill rate. That's how easy it is to win with her.

Well that’s not what I mean. I’m talking about DH to reverse an already made mistake. The survivor isn’t being rewarded for not making a mistake, they’re having a mistake they made be fully compensated.
Same with DH for distance. You can’t bait it. You just have to let it happen. I’m curious though, what do you think about NoED?
Is there a rules somehwere that says a perk cannot be used to fix a mistake? I mean, we are calling these second chances perks for a reason. (And survivors have a lot of these.)
You can't bait it for distance for that case, true.
I think NOED is fine. It means the killer plays the game with 3 perks. It can also be denied by doing totems, something that this Boon era makes kind of likely. Besides it's usually inexperienced killers using it so you can see it coming from a mile away. All this for one down that is likely to be saved after the bones have been dealt with.

If you want to "win", with the current meta, one strategy is to mercilessly tunnel.
However, it's not fun at all.

Ah ok you went over I was thinking it went around they wall. Yeah when you are good at predicating survivor movement you are more likely to see the DCs. I only motioned the ping because the game has issues registering a hit so times so event though it hit the wall it still hit you around it. Hitting over a wall is a good job that is not easy to do and that survivor is just salty and screwed his team over.
They are sometimes easier that clean shots as survivors seldom expect a hit and thus do not try to dodge. It's rare though (I consider myself average, at best, with the Huntress)

'Upset' is a strong word.
'Annoyed' is more like it, especially in the exit gates.
It's the equivalent of refusing to shake your opponent's hand after the match, and instead giving them the finger. Yes, humans tend to be annoyed when other humans act like massive butts.
I only see this as children nagging. Not likely to annoy me.
If it happens during a match, I'm happy for the time they lost and try to take advantage of it.
If it happens at the doors ... well I wouldn't know. I usually take that time to break pallets and doors.
-
Survivor : Iron Will (What can I say? I've trained as Claudette.)
Killer : Starstruck (oh yes, please try to body block xD)
-
- Cut the maps down to a manageable size.
- Make it so there aren't many god-loops or chainable strong tiles anymore.
- Get rid of the boons or make them breakable (but then give them their original strength back).
That's it, I' would only consider more changes after observing these two.

Whataboutism.
Also, say you mindgame a survivor then they proceed to DH to the pallet? How does one “bait” this out??
A typical way is to do a sudden upward movement with the camera. A nervous survivor will think it's your attack and will DH. An experienced survivor will not though. (Nothing new here, a survivor who doesn't make mistake will win.)
As Nurse it's harder as you have to blink close to the survivor and decide if he will DH or not and consequently to charge the second blink ready to follow or attack immediately.

Comments like this are the absolute reason why I don't care about t-bagging or bm'ing when I play either side, especially survivor.
It doesn't matter whether i beckon, point, flashlight click, t-bag or run at the killer, everything and anything is seen as "toxic" by a lot of people, I see the threads every day of people saying certain perks etc or items are toxic and it's simply not true.
don't get me wrong, I'm not some "anti-woke" person, and I hate the phrase "grow a thicker skin" because everyone is allowed to be offended by the things that affect them, but the players in this game constantly try to paint each other as toxic or bad people for simply running the tools given to them by the developers.
Everybody has the right to be offended, yes, but nobody should expect anybody to care.
There are basic rules to follow, some common sense of what not to do and what not to say (usually the harm-related crap), beyond that everything is fair game.
When I read some comments (not in these forum, yet, thankfully), I feel like I found myself in a kindergarten by mistake. Then I learn these are young adults and I'm properly terrified for their future.

-Agreed. I'm not sure why people with lots of experience are so entitled when it comes to DCs.
-well they could make some challenges less grindy, 25unhooks for example could easily be 25unhooks and protects, or better yet "be in a trial while 25survivors are unhooked"
- and no I dont get this often, I just know it's an issue that can happen. Since SBMM iv barely had this, except one day where I got on early and had huge wait times and I was obviously misplaced and just thrown in (I have multiple posts moaning about this lol, I now dont play at that time and haven't had that issue again)
They could but if the past is any indication they will not. There are some pretty ridiculous requirements for both sides. I'm not even sure I've done them all.

Umm you should not be able to curve a hatchet around a corner that is a VPN issue and I know many experienced players that would rather kill themself on hook then play with a play who is either cheating their VPN to get shots that should not hit or just so lag the game is going to be a RIP anyway. Experienced survivors are more likely to DC because they are just so jaded they feel like they should always win. Baby survivors are just excited to try lol the jade hasn't hit yet.
Not around the corner : above the wall. I saw him run towards that block with a medium high wall, I've thrown a quick one (that curves a lot) guessing where he would be and hit him. I've not found how to say "lobbée" properly in English*. I assumed "curved" didn't imply the plane of the trajectory. My ping is usually 32ms btw.
*: I just found out the word is originally English, "to lob". That's probably why I couldn't find the translation 🤣
-
The 90% excuse was really bad but when you take a step back to think it was the right choice.
Yes, the "old" generation of players could hit these checks but for every new player it was a steep learning curve and bound to push players out. All this for what? A Hex that usually died 12 seconds into the game and was next to useless against an experienced player?
Nah.
-
These "toxic" plays, as you call them, are the best for me. If the survivor team is out to try to bully the killer, they are not doing gens.
The fun part is that they always forget the killer has a counter or two for their tactic.
I still laugh when I remember these Boil-Over/Breakout/Flipflop teams who DCed when they realized I was simply letting them bleed out. The "no" one of them did with his body when he realized followed by my emphatic "yes" and his DC ... good times xD.
I draw the line at (self-)harm comments in the end game chat.

How does making perks basekit or providing more info to survivors stop
- DC/Giving up on hook
- Farming tome challenges
- Walking/crouched round the map all game
? This post is linked to another one but people seem to be getting confused, so someone explain in detail how this works? I generally want a discussion....
- Perks will not change the lack of fortitude of some players. I rarely get DCs/hook-exits against me. Disappointingly it's usually players with more hours in the game doing it. When I see beginners (badly) matched against my Nurse trying up to the end then a 1k+ hour player giving up ... that's sad. (Yesterday a guy gave up against my Huntress after I got him with a curved shot behind a wall, the first hatchet of the game. We still had fun without him though.)
- The only way to stop this is to have tome challenges that can be done easily without throwing the game. Not likely to happen.
- Are you often matched with beginners? Beginners play very immersive. Beginners drop pallets even after a hit. Beginners go in the corner of the map to heal. Beginners hide when they hear the killer. Beginners have no game awareness. Some new prompts may make them better (e.g. the "your team needs you", in the suggestion forum) but a perk? No.

Ringu is not a significant license ?
It's the biggest license chapter with Hellraiser and Stranger Things.
For the horror fan, Ringu is in the Top 1.
We do not want to see DbD dying but fact is it is dying just because of SBMM...
Or because the MMR has put into light the imbalance in the game.
Although ... when I think I'm sometimes being matched with survivors in the one digit range right after getting my ass kicked just because there was a rush in a huge map ... It must be so fun when your first Nurse encounter is a pissed-off 2.5k hour player who mains her.
-
These minimal changes are meaningless. At the very least the game is dropping player more slowly.
-
Pallet-city is awful for most killers, yes.
-
As far as I'm concerned, giving hatch is usually random (the last one left alive). However, among the exceptions ...
If a survivor is the only one giving me good chases in a match, I'll usually wipe the rest and give him the hatch.
In the same spirit, I also make a point killing useless teammates and try to "save" the one who carried the team.
Also, about the "thanks" comment(s) I've read. I never except one but my survivor items offering pile is growing steadily.
-
Alert, Iron Will, Spine Chill/BT/DS, DH/SB
edit: I got a game while typing.
Alert saved my skin several times by showing me the position of the killer.
Iron Will is a must unless you are very good at looping and/or juking a Nurse.
I chose the rest using a dice roll for each.

A spike is a fraction of a second once in a blue moon, else it's general a network issue.
I wish reality was how you describe it
I really wish
Not everyone is hooked up to the ISP station with optic fiber entering directly into their router, remember that :)
And stuttering/teleporting like you describe it needs higher ping than 150
I'm "only" having some kind of vdsl and I'm generally at 32ms. Optic isn't available here yet.
But your point is valid, some ISP infrastructures are dated or bad. (I've heard horror stories about people living far from the cities. e.g. in the "middle" of the USA or in the campaigns of France.)

So as part of my little 'el-reverso' challenge, I've been maining survivor for the past fortnight in the hopes of...well getting some more BP on the 13th. I mean - getting better at a role I don't play much and seeing what life is like on the other side of the window vault.
Some observations.
- Camping...oh man, do I see this too much. Conservatively, maybe a third of my games have a killer hard camping a hook outside of necessity.
- Wow, do I have so much time on my hands compared to killer. I can really drink in certain aspects of maps that I never did before. I just realized that it's raining in Midwich XD.
- When did survivor queues become absolutely instant?
- Ranking on a survivor is honestly unreasonably difficult sometimes - as it depends a lot on how the killer plays and your allies play, beyond what you can personally control.
- Survivor BP gains are absolutely miserable.
- What is up with addon rarities? In many cases, they do not reflect the power of that addon.
- Some killers (Wraith, Sadako, Doctor, non camping Myers) are unreasonably easy to evade and loop - and I'm barely a 'beginner' who just watched a lot of videos.
- Finding hexes can be annoying on some maps.
- There is an...odd quality to the survivor role, where it's mostly waiting around and feeling like you're a good player - and then suddenly you're dead.
- Did I already say that survivor BP gains are miserable?
- Kind of expected, the other popular alternative being tunneling.
- Yes, survivor is relaxing (or boring, depending on how you see it). I play survivor when queues are short and I need to relax.
- A long time ago I believe, but it has been increasingly worse since maybe last August.
- You only need to so lots of stuff (heal, save, do gens, ...) like killer but different tasks. There are rarely big differences of points (unless gen-rush & other extreme plays)
- See: previous point
- No clue, for survivor as for killer I seldom use add-ons.
- Not sure these are the only ones.
- Question of habit. Their possible locations are fixed.
- Not sure of what you mean. Usually I have a good idea of how it will end as soon as I've got my first interaction with the killer. (Although with the second-chance perks being life-savers, I'm often a bit more pessimistic than I should.)
- Interact more with the killer, heal, make saves, do gens. You'll get as much or more than the killer. The is an equivalent of BBQ for survivors too (WGLF)
-
I think I'm not having fun when:
_ survivors play gen-jockeys no matter what.
_ boons are boosting survivors healing, hiding, speed, ...
Sure, tunneling helps but having to tunnel 24/7 to win isn't fun.
(and then of course there are the cheaters, the awfully big maps, the silly auto-miss, ...)

I know. That's what I was saying
Hag still has to chase you a bit and that 2% hurts a lot. (Granted, I'm no Michi)
2% may seem like nothing but at the risk of repeating myself, a killer who is used to hit at the right distance will miss survivors with a speed boost. It messes with muscle memory.

Ping spikes happen, it often happens to me as well and it's as ######### as it sounds
Now if it's ALWAYS, ONLY during chases that's a little bit suspicious, but I don't suppose you're constantly checking their ping while you're not in chase with them
150 is still playable, you simply stutter here and there
200+ is oof, you can't even vault windows or walk straight most of the time
A spike is a fraction of a second once in a blue moon, else it's general a network issue.
It's not playable for the killer chasing you (and I don't know from the other side as we don't see the killer's ping in game)
How many times I follow a survivor and he is suddenly 20 meters away on my left. Cheaters, yes, but so easy for these stains to do as long as the server allows it.
In a game, I already have problem with survivors having more than 80ms ping. Maybe players should be grouped by ping range. No reason to ruin an otherwise good match by having some stuttering/teleporting players.

What difference does it make anyway? That's the risk of running Hex: Totems; they may get cleansed quickly. It's no mistake that you're not raising the point of Hex: Totems that last the duration of a trial and devastate Survivors. Hex: Totems fundamentally change the game in compelling ways that a Boon cannot. What would game-altering Boons look like in the game?
Boon: Everyone Escapes Death. 4% movement speed, and Survivors gain the new Impervious Status Effect. Impervious allows Survivors to withstand any hit. The Killer must find the Boon and snuff it, which now takes 14s.
Another approach is Hex: Totems or Scourge Hooks that target Boons. The discussions are always about nerfing or deleting Boons, never creative ideas on how to empower The Killer to deal with them. That's a lot of opportunity for new killer perks that could fill this space and make Boons less appealing.
Given how strong they are (taking into account killers are already pressed by time) destroying them is exactly how to empower the killer to deal with them.
-

I think 1100 is the limit, I've never seen higher and the few occasions I've seen it it remained stable for far too long on that nice round number for being a real ping
I've seen several times players with a ping in the 100ms going to 1080ms whenever I was chasing them. (And going back to the 100ms when they were far away.)
I can't believe even 150ms is allowed. It's just unplayable.

I know this feeling. Felt it back in 2017-19. Pressing on Killer and being like "what if this, what if that goes wrong", "what if I get a swf squad" etc.
Now it's either "I don't wanna play Killer" or "I don't wanna play Survivor" or "I don't wanna play either".
I had written a program that would help me detect SWFs by simply copying the steam profile URLs into the clipboard. (The program would detect a steam URL was put into the clipboard and start getting the friend list, bans, ... and then compare them to see who had any relation with whom). That's how I was able to have some SWF statistics (so many SWFs, sooo many).
Then I've improved it by allowing to mark cheaters and DCers so I wouldn't have to be with the same game ever again.
This was more fun to do than playing the game.
Now with the Epic (cheaters) influx, I don't bother anymore.

Glad you're not part of the balance team then. That is a stupid change to make and boons would be useless. Unless there's a survivor perk that makes boons longer to snuff out just like toth...
Hex can be destroyed, it takes several seconds to do it. High risk high reward. And adding perks to everyone around a totem is quite an high reward.
-
The nerf is irrelevant. The only fix for boons is to allow the killer to break a totem and/or destroy the boon.
-
Absolutely not. These killers have counter play.
"Players" (and I'm being generous here) who do not want to learn how to verse a killer because it disturbs their ridiculously small world will lose, now matter what.
Other will improve, learn and get that warm achievement feeling. (A real one, not these "you started the game" crap for kids raised in the "everybody gets a prize" environment)

No, too easy to abuse.
For DCs, the bots is the only good option. (Well, there are others like popping a gen automatically to offset somewhat but I don't know if it's a good one.)
