@Chi They were rank 3 and 4, which was probably rank 1-2 before the new update. 😂
Least there were two of them so they can annoy each other with their immersive play. Sucks for the killer, oh wait it's a legion, never mind, he can suck it.

The cherry on top was the red ping.

He's the bottom of average tier because a 1shot is still a 1shot.
Bubba's basement is a meme and gets genrushed like you wouldn't believe.
Because the basement meme is so old and over used now that survivors know you have two choices - get the gens done and leave, or go down in the basement and probably join the guy on the hook.
-
Along with nerfing survivor perks so you cannot rely on them, adding more and more aura reads with insta down perks, and the introduction of legion who you don't want to waste time healing against since you spend so much time doing a boring mend anyway then to heal on top of that just to have him leap over a window/vault at high speed to deep wound you again. *Takes a deep breath* Yeah that left doing gens fast as you can if you want a shot at the exit gate.
-
Yes and risk your unbroken in exchange for evader and no lightbringer or benevolence. Or just play the killer - they have a slightly easier time ranking right now. Other killers aren't competing for their points.

And that is exactly what they are doing.
-
I won't feed a camper and will try to knock out gens. Waiting for an opening to save against a camper wastes time. If another survivor goes for the save and fails - now we got two survivors out of commission, sped up the hook death of the first survivor that was getting camped, and made it likely the camper (I'm not even going to call these people killers) gets a 4k.
And I've been the one camped many times - I would want them to do the same for me. Do the gens.
-
Good that you showed you indeed lost the pip after leaving the end screen. That happened to me just today as well - yet another bug that never gets fixed.
Wasn't such a big deal before, but now with the stricter point requirements especially in the purple/red ranks, expect people to care more about this, devs.
-
I keep saying killers have a bit of a better time with the new emblem system because their emblems work together (pursuing one leads to the others) and another killer is not going to 'steal' their points. Survivor emblems work against each other, pursuing one emblem doesn't lead to gains in the others. And then there's the de-pip which is easy to get for numerous things outside your control, even a single disconnect could potentially de-pip everyone.
-
After 3 months now I am certain they simply can't. Little tip though, if the loading screen is taking a long time to progress like no progress in over 30 seconds on the bar - likely someone else froze up, just kill the game and restart because you are looking at a 3v1.
You'll lose your offering of course, but I have not noticed any other penalty.
-
Well a feature of the new emblem system for survivors is you don't have to try to de-rank. It just happens now.
-
Seems the same level of toxicity to me. I'm actually shocked when one shows any hint of honor.

I used CTRL+ALT+DELETE. I lose my offering, but I keep my items.
If I get duped in to played a 3v1, I will do the best I can, but realize I'm going to lose. I've only ran into 2 or 3 empathetic Killers who allowed us to gens and escape for 2 hooks each.
I do the same cause this is a sure indicator someone else's client froze up and since they aren't fixing that problem this is a workaround to not have to get railroaded into 3v1 2v1 games.
If I am in a 3v1 I'll see how it goes if the killer is being cool about and not try harding tunneling/camping and lets saves happen, then yeah I'll keep playing. If they do try hard I'll just let the poor guy die on the hook rather than farm him, so nobody wins. I'll just keep working on a gen until he finds me then that is that.

Holding m1 to do gens so hard. Waiting 2 mins so hard
Obviously more to it than that with skill checks of varying difficulty depending on hexes and since you are stuck in one spot for what feels like forever next to a loud noisemaker waiting for the killer to wander on over to find you. Then if you aren't a total idiot you'll be doing gens that need to get done, so you don't leave a 3 gen strat or dangerous gens left for end game. You know what - maybe killers should have to hit skill checks while carrying someone to the hook. Killers don't have to deal with enough skill checks.
Killer was way easier for me than solo survivor - but it is more boring, you basically play all killers the same way - find survivors, down survivors. There's at least some variety with random groups seeing if you can get that exit gate open.

So killer is still easy to rank up. Good to know. Their emblems aren't competing with each other. The purples likely de-pipped or safety since their unbroken was destroyed and unless there was farming or killer just toyed with them they didn't get high evader. Lightbringer was probably tight to go around. Greens might have pipped, except for the disconnect of course, which likely injured everyone else's benevolence.
Big problem I see are no red rank survivors at all. People still had about a week to rank on the old system before update too. Should be interesting after this next reset.

The system probably is too strict as you're now being held responsible for ensuring that a certain type of play pattern happens. You have to defend all your gens for at least the first 9 minutes. That is when they count the most towards your score. Then you need to make sure you having multiple short chases that you win. You also need to hit a ton during the trial. A lot more hits are needed to score malicious really well. Then you've got too hook a decent bit more than with the other system. It's 9+ hooks and a 4k to get iridescent devout. To safety pip confidently you still need about 6-8hooks and a 3k. Also camping penalty on chaser has been increased and the distant you need to minimum distance is more too. So strats that revolve around bait survivors are out if you want to keep chaser from going to hell.
So you have to build in these artificial moments of "safety" or you can hinder your score by being too good at the game. You need to make sure you get good at defending during the early game and manipulating survivors to help each other during the mid game. If you're a survivor then you need to do gens, fight over hook saves, heal others, get chased for long periods of time, and still manage to escape. Now the issue is that not every player wants to fight each other for the hook save or has the ability to run the killer around long term. Stealth players get punished for being stealthy, gen jockeys get punished for prioritizing gens over chases and saves.
The scoring systems wants a survivor to build in artificial moments of "risk" to avoid hindering your score. So we have this situation that places the responsibility of tailoring that game experience to be more even on the players rather than make any sweeping gameplay or mechanical changes to address issues. That means that ranks are useless because highly skilled players can't necessarily rank out of lower ranks consistently to where they only face each other and medium skill players can't really track progression with rank increase. New players and low skill players have to face people they have no business playing against which is going to make them less likely to play. The deranking problem got solved in reverse as now the game is just going to derank you as a matter of habit. Just play the game without the play patterns in mind and you'll be in lower ranks without having to dc.
Oh I can fully agree with your statements. I am just saying that if it is strict you can still slowly pip, but with de-pips so easy to get just by walking into a crappy game (a situation that happens often especially with solo play) you can be a great survivor, but luck dictates if you can make it to rank 1 more than skill. If they eased up on the de-pips for things that are out of a player's control maybe the pipping would not be seen as so strict.
-
Still early - but I don't think it is too strict, yet. It is just too easy to de-pip from various factors out of your control.
-
Green ranks (like the one shown) yellow and beige are reasonable and still pretty easy to pip in - the purple and red ranks are a special treat though. You'd have to score like that (maybe even a notch lower is acceptable) every game in order to progress through red.

Just watched truetalent (killer main btw) playing solo survivor in red ranks and he pips just fine
And actually, SWF should be the only ones who get to rank 1 if the ranking system worked properly (at least as long as there are no ingame voice comms)
I suspect you are watching old videos.
Tru3 has been playing Sekiro past 5 days - I'm watching his live stream now since he came back to DBD and his survivor rank is purple 5. The match I just watched he barely pipped in purple...after the killer gave him the hatch.
And he also couldn't seem to get any killer games with his rank 1 killer.
Only SWF get to rank 1? lol, this isn't even worth commenting on how wrong this thinking is.
EDIT: Update that match I mentioned earlier pipped him to red rank 4, after a series of several games where he safety pipped ( one was an impressive 3 v 1 safety) he de-pipped twice in a row, second one he was tunneled to de-pip so back to purple rank 5 worse off than when I first watched 2.5 hours ago.

Stuck in the purples - I like pipping is more difficult, but de-pipping is far too easy for any number of reasons out of my control (solo survivor).

OmG thanks for sharing this. I always wondered if it really did anything sound wise.
It seems simply being on the other side of the gen from the listener does more for the volume than using the perk.
Edit: After listening a few more times gen seems to sound even clearer with technician on. I think you should put this in the bug forum too.
I wonder if it has any affect on surveillance, but I think I already know the answer.

Well they messed up by doing two major things at once when they should of rolled one out at a time and apparently never thought out/correctly tested/or listened to anything reported during the PTB. They changed the requirements to pip with the emblem system and created a matchmaking system that disregards region and ranks. It also did what I said months ago that their matchmaking 'fix' would do - average out the wait times for killers to get a game between those who got instant lobbies and those that waited ungodly amounts of time. It looks like it averaged out to about 5 minutes.
Reverting back to the old matchmaking is worse now because many people have just shelved the game, like some people on this thread are talking about doing. That is if steam charts for the PC is any indication of the trend.
-
It's never a problem with getting hit through an open window if you are close enough. The problem is getting hit through an open window from two meters away after you vaulted it. Billy seems to have the range of a tomahawk missile through a window.
The usual culprit everyone points to is latency or lag, but that means playing against billy is not viable in most games since billy is always going to have host advantage.
-
If it is a bug then it's not likely to get fixed, ever.
-
How about it tells survivors when noed is an actual risk and how many totems are left on the map? Then they'll be happy to wander around looking for them to break while the killer hunts them. Oh yeah, no killer wants that.
I don't really mind noed, it is simply annoying. But the killer should recognize at the end it was noed that did all the work, not their skill. gg noed!
-
Killers have a somewhat easier time right now because their emblems work together. Killers in pursuing one emblem often leads to attaining the others. Survivor emblems are working against each other and in competition with other survivors. If a survivor pursues one emblem, they are neglecting the others and doing anything risky (pretty much everything) puts their unbroken in jeopardy and often results in them not being able to do anything for periods of time except wait on a hook.

Yeah I had a game last year where it was early am and the survivor pool at that time of morning was the same 20-30 rank 1-2 players. We all loaded in singly over the course of 10 minutes and it was obvious we were all solo players.
The killer was obviously a boosted Billy because it was Thompson House and he would tunnel someone endlessly. We'd get totems, gens, saves etc and it was a long game and everyone just knew what to do.
After we all got out he said I knew I should've dodged swf toxic jerk playstyle, this despite the fact he knew we were all solo's. He played horribly, tried cheesing his chainsaw in chases constantly.
Didn't mind game anything, respected pallets, didn't pressure gens even when he'd chase someone past a person working on a gen. He just played absolutely horribly but it was the I didn't get outplayed/played poorly it was it was your fault for playing survivor I did poorly.
I've seen the same from survivors who when I'm hooked and they get downed it was because they just played stupidly or even when I'm on a gen say on Pale Rose. I can clearly see what's going on below and they try and drop the pallet early or don't drop it and teabag.
According to these forums:
If the survivors lost - it was the survivors' fault. If the killer lost - it was the survivors' fault.
-
The two pip requirement is ridiculous - especially with this last update.

Talk to me when I can cleanse totems to stop Adrenaline.
The counter to noed is to cleanse dull totems. The counter to adrenaline is to kill dull survivors. There's your cleanse. Maybe the problem is five gens isn't enough time for you to get your 4k.
-
Legion has my vote - pretty much a survivor with a knife who can cheese chases. If you played him 10 minutes you reached his skill cap. Michael Myers does take some skill, it's not just stalk and stab; and there are many ways to play him.
-
They all yelp now as they fall - in case the killer didn't hear your grunt as you leapt or the slam of your feet into the ground on landing, now they can more easily hear what you did and where you did it.

Yep and that in turn keeps them in the green and grey ranks.

@thesuicidefox said:
Ranking up at purple/red ranks is near impossible because there are not enough opportunities to get the points needed for emblems on an individual basis. If you get chased a long time, you can't get Ben or LB. If you never get chased you can't get Chaser. If someone gets hooked you have to race 2 other survivors for the rescue. And if the killer decides to camp/tunnel anyone at any point, you just depipped. Safety pip if you were lucky and managed to do 3 gens solo. If you rescue someone and they go potato, running to the killer so you lose a safe rescue, then you just got screwed out of a pip, maybe even a safety pip. You literally have to do everything yourself, but since there are 3 other survivors that's usually impossible.
I really, really hate it right now. Borderline making me want to quit playing survivor. Killer ranking is messed up too, but not nearly as bad. I feel the people complaining most about killer ranking are those that constantly camp, tunnel, use OP add-ons, or use moris all the time. However I've still been screwed out of a pip in certain instances even if I got a 4k 5 gen. You have a bit more control over whether or not you pip as killer, but not enough for it to be a consistent measure of skill.
Both systems measure luck more than anything.
If you get chased for evader, you are risking your unbroken (getting down even once degrades it) and not getting anything for lightbringer since you are getting chased. If you get benevolence, it is at another suvivor's expense. Lightbringer is a limited resource there's only five gens and two exits for four survivors - someone is going to be out of luck. Survivor emblems are fighting with each other, in order to get one you are not getting any of the others (not considering unbroken).
Killer emblems are more in synergy with each other as one often leads to the others, you get chaser all the time which leads to malicious and devout, all while trying to protect gatekeeper. The only emblem killer risks by pursuing the other three is gatekeeper with a better chance at improving more than one emblem just by doing their objective - which they have to do anyway.
While you are on a hook or slugged, you lose out on any opportunities. You become an opportunity. Killer also doesn't compete with other killers for their emblem opportunities and they are never in a 'time out' on the hook.

@SpiritFeng said:
Being at green and purple ranks, its possible to meet a red ranked killer and it happens often. The matchmaking is broken.
I can attest - about half my matches were with a red ranked killer while the other survivors were all purple/green ranks. I don't feel those survivors are going to rank up and will likely rank down when matched like that.
-
Survivor emblems are now more dependent on what other survivors do, on top of what the killer does and survivors are competing even more for emblems. In every game I am pretty sure for every survivor that pipped, another survivor paid the price with a de-pip. For solo queue it gets even worse and what sucks is more times than I can count I just missed pipping by a single notch - but it's all I could do. Being hard to pip is nice, but it is far too easy for survivors to de-pip now.
So yeah red ranks are going to be full of killers now and not many survivors. I don't see too many red ranked survivors now (in fact I have not seen a single red ranked survivors in my matches, but half of them featured a red ranked killer). Which is another problem, with red ranked killers getting matched with purple/green survivors, you think those survivors are going to pip? They'll be constantly locked down in those ranks while the killer gets to advance.
-
The new ranking system is better for swf since you can choose your teammates. Too many variables as solo which involve luck to reliably pip. Unless you turn into a scumbag sandbagging hook farmer who plays for the hatch every game.
-
It punishes playing with bad survivors too.
-
@Kaelum said:
@xility if the system doesn't perform in the way that they are hoping, they will make minor changes to it until it does. They want all players to be well rounded, and only those players will be at the highest ranks. We need to give it a chance, and see where everyone sits in about 1-2 weeks. I have a feeling that there won't be any Rank 1s or 2s, and an extremely few 3s. There should be a good number who are constantly jumping between 4 and 5, which is what I think that they are hoping for.
There are 2 ways that I see it. Either they want to ensure that no one can get to Rank 1, and possibly Rank 2, or they only want the top 1% to be there. Either case achieves a balanced system, from which they can build, and eliminate the monthly rank resets that occur on the 13th of every month. Give it time, and I think you'll like the end result.
I don't know. Faith is becoming a quickly depleted commodity these days.
-
More than ever how you do as a survivor is connected on how the other survivors are performing, if there are any disconnects/suicides, and if the killer is sporting or a tunneler/camper, if someone else looped the whole game. You know, things that are generally out of your control if you solo. With solos you step into trials with randoms all the time, majority of the time they are potatoes and matchmaking does not seem to care about actually matching ranks.
It cranks the frustration level to a new high - it's not that it is hard to pip, it's that it is so easy to de-pip with only just a little bad luck tossed your way.

I'm the same as survivor and have had similar games under the new broken system. It was right to make it harder, but not to make it impossible, come on devs! I think the pipping system is broken, I had 5K in first three emblems and didn't pip, another game I had 5K in first and last emblems and did pip. It's like you will pip more often if you get points in chases. Pretty much screw the solo stealth player, as always.
There comes a day when you just get tired of getting kicked.

I have to agree. The game has never been so unfun.
Gain a pip as survivor in the new awful ranking system. Lose it the next game because 2 survivors disconnect and then you can't do #########, or get tunneled and chased all game which helps the rest get the gens done but you get no unhooks or gens so you lose out. Not to mention killers just camping the first hook they get is out of control. I guess they're aware survivors NEED unhooks now so they're preying on it.
As killer you now wait 5 mins for a lobby only to be met with a 2000+hour swf with toolboxes, or 2 survivors only and the rest never join despite this talk of "the bucket".
This update just makes the game feel like a chore to play. As for the scoring system nobody liked it on the ptb yet they went ahead with it anyway.
Agreed. The game is just not fun anymore.
This new pip system is affecting my morale much more than I thought it would.
-
The emblem system is now so dependent on other survivors and the killer, everyone but yourself, that it is not really any better a measure of skill than the old system. It's how lucky you are being in the right place at the right time. If the killer doesn't hook enough, everyone is risking a de-pip, survivors have to go looking for trouble with the killer and compete with three other survivors to do so.
Again yet another advantage given to SWF cause they can coordinate and share much better than solos. Need some lightbringer, Sally? Let Sally finish that gen guys. Need more benevolence, Ralph? Next couple of saves are all yours.
