  • Cats themed. I mean those costumes looled terrifying!

  • I don't use them but I don't think they need changing. I mean everything they do Hillbilly does better. And he doesnt have to reload.

If anything changes, either a minimum range, 20meters max, or decrease her movement speed to make getting point blank shots harder and more time consuming.

  • Yeah he did 360 a couple times. Guess that's it. Thanks!

I don’t get it, you are upset that people know how to play efficiently together?

play some solo and tell me how much fun you had, SWF is the only consistent method to having good teammates, yet killer “mains” dont understand the logic in it

Most killer mains do understand the fun factir of playing with friends. What killers complain about is the fact that the game isn't designed for survivors to have that kind of coordination. Yes it is possible for killers to win against coordinated groups, but it sure isnt fun for them.

  • I only play solo on Xbox. Rank 4-5. I Cant loop for crap but I know when to take a hit. When to unhook. When to dedicate the gen.

Moris are uncommon. Maybe 1 in 40 matches. Tunneling once in awhile. Camping sometimes. DS hardly ever procs for me.

Solo is hard and teammates being good is random. But its not impossible nor is it not enjoyable.

  • Bubba is tough but he is playable. Just really need to learn when to chainsaw, how close to objects you can get to, and no you do not need to camp the basement.

And really theres nothing more satisfying then downing multiple people at one time. Without camping!

  • Both sides should be equally strong, but unless you are just really really good, more than likely a team of good survivors will beat you. This is because players of equal skill should be equal, but if you have 4 people just as good as you, there just isn't time enough.

Basically you have a 4v1 that breaks down into instances of 1v1. Yes killers should always have the advantage in a 1v1 situation. However, when you get a survivor with equal skill to the killer, chases last too long, enabling the other 3 to finish gens. Then if all of them have equal skill, it's gg.

Thats why many killers tunnel 1 person out as quick as they can. 3v1 is much easier than 4v1.

  • Get used to the hate!

But to answer your question, I've been pretty much swapping between huntress and pig lately. I used to love bubba but after you get to certain ranks, you find that survivors just know how to not get hit with the chainsaw. Then you have nothing else.

Huntress too. You'll find that she is map dependant. More so than otger killers. But if you can get proficient with her timing and aiming she can wreck many people. Even without add ons

This is assuming you get to have a chase after an off-hook. A mori is a lot less exciting for the first person to experience it. 😂 But I don't necessarily mind them. Too many ebonys in a row gets daunting sometimes.

If you get morid off hook without a chance to escape, then I think you have a survivor problem. Biggest problem with the majority of 'unfair' offerings and add ons and perks is that people refuse to adapt and change their game play. If theres a secret offering why in the world would you rush an unhook in the killers face? You are practically handing that survivor to the entity.

When killers complain that DS is active beyond the scope of anti tunnel, they get flamed and told to git gud and adapt.

When survivors are faced with moris or noed or iri heads, or whatever most of them don't change their playstyle. They just do what they always do and then complain about how unfair everything is.

I personally dont use moris unless i get devour hope stacked. But even as survivor, 90% of the time, if i get morid, its cause i got farmed by my own team.

Unless you are on switch and probably mobile

  • I dont think keys should be found in chests. Just my opinion. However i think a fair change woukd he to remove pink keys from chests. Change purple keys to only allow 1 person to escape and slightly increase the odds maybe.

Pink keys will allow the hatch to remain open but would have to be brought into the match.

Then you can change green mori to to purple and both the op add ons would be almost on same tier.

  • Couple things

    1) Yes some people want to ruin other people's experiences. Happens everywhere in life. Some people are ducks

    2) Sometimes a killer will get destroyed and humiliated and decide they want a chance to play an easy game. So next team gets the anger release.

    3) Like you said, making it a quick 3v1 allows the killer to play a little less stressfully. Be an ass to not play as an ass so to speak

    4) Disconnecting caused you to lose all your pips anyway. You would have at least kept some points.

Not really because playing killer isnt about just killing people, think of it this way you dont win a game of chess by going straight to the king.

you have to get other pieces out before heading towards the king and yes you may loose some of your own pieces (gens) but when you finally get the king after defeating all the other pieces its not just one piece youve taken but many which equates to a large sum (bp and pips)

Killing survivors shouldnt be treated as your only task as doing that only makes you fail

Your analogy is false. Its possible to win a game of chess in 4 moves. And the person who does it is most definitely not punished for it.

That being said, this is the only game that punishes a player because of how the opposite side plays. Survivors fail to do their objective? Killer depips. Killer sucks and can't down and hook anyone, survivors get no points. Survivor suicides on first hook or teammates fail to save them? Killer is punished for it.

The emblem system needs a huge rework. I understand punishing killers for 4k with mori off first hook. But insta down killers are punished for using their powers. Even devour hope moris punish the killer. And survivors shouldn't have to purposely get in chases to score at the game. It's the exact opposite of the goal which is to survive.

  • @Cheers said:

Do people forget camping is a legitimate tactic that doesn't happen at high ranks???

I agree with you. There are certain times when camping is useful, for instance securing a kill at end of game. My idea would not effect that at all.

If people are swarming hooks for saves more than likely you can start a chase with them, causing hook timer to act normal.

The idea is just the whole face camping to be a douche thing, while also giving the face camped person some benefit.

  • I just want to say i could care less about being camped. If it happens oh well i move on to the next game. I was just thinking about the people who do complain.

So to expand on the original comment.

Hook timer is paused while killer is within a certain distance. Unless the last gen has been powered or the killer is in a chase.

So survivors hanging out around the hook waiting for killers to leave is even more stupid to do than it is right now as accidentally getting in a chase would cause the timer to start back up.

Hooked survivors being camped get points for 'distracting' the killer.

The distance from the hook would need testing.

Also i think struggle phase would need to be automatic.

  • @bilaueta said:

And what if the killer hooks someone in the endgame? Is the killer supposed to let what would be an almost guaranteed kill escape escape easily? Plus, if it is paused then the survivor would just be camped until the endgame ends. If it is paused as well then the survivors would have infinite chances to get the survivor if they dont open the gate, if more than one of them is injured they can just run to the gate and heal, then go again and again and again since the hook timer will never end

When last gen is popped timer starts up like normal.

    @Pornbjörn said:

Nah, if you chasing a survivor and he lure you to the occupied hook, paused timer will be unfair.

I think entity just should constantly wisper to killer "CaMPinG Is gAy" while he located near hooked survivor

If killer is chasing someone then timer is running like normal.

You could also rework current Kill your friends mode into full 1 player practice range with all killers available (and keep the option to add other players from friend list). That way people could test whatever they wanted and try powers of killers they don't own to decide if they like them.

    I love this idea.

    1. I can get behind this. Even though if the obsession is getting chased, the tentacles move, so you have the information avaiable at least for them.
    2. Not needed. I like the part where I have to guess, which killer it is. And most of the time you can hear who the killer is. Or check the map for traps etc.
    3. Put the totem counter into Small Game and we're gucci.
    4. Wouldn't break that some mindgames at windows?
    5. Huntress lullaby already has an effect, even with 0 tokens. More regress if the surv fails a skill check. That's the reason, why you get the notification.
    6. Agree.
    7. Wonderful idea.
    8. Camping sucks, but there a some scenarios where it is totally legit. So no.

    1) I love playing survivor and seeing the obsession is being chased. Eases up the tension a bit. Having an indicator for all survivors just bridges the solo swf gap some.

    2) I agree but again, narrowing that gap

    3) I'm plenty ok with that

    4) Possibly, I don't know. I'm a lousy survivor lol. Just think it's silly to not be able to look around while kicking something.

    5) Who fails skill checks on generators? Besides new players who won't know why the cursed icon is there anyway? I say remove the regression penalty to solve the early notification penalty.

  • As a solo player i think there should be some UI improvements to help game knowledge, and level the swf vs solo gap.

    1) As said before, a chase indicator would be amazing. That knowledge i feel is one of the biggest strengths of the swf squad. And also for killer if there are multiple survivors running similar outfits, you can tell who your chasing.

    2) An ability to convey to other survivors who the killer is. Maybe something like, if you've been in the terror radius of a killer and then come across another survivor, you can press a button to say the name of the current killer.

    3) Totem counter as i do totems when i see them and i think if a survivor comes across a totem and a counter says 1, they arent going to leave that totem be. Then there would be zero reason to still fill the forums with nerf NOED threads

    4) Killers camera shouldn't be locked into looking at their feet while vaulting or breaking things. Survivors can look behind them and still vault. I'm not saying killers should have 360 degree camera movement but 90 degrees would be nice. Also locking animation for picking up survivors should stay to allow flashlight non sense

    5) Some hex perks shouldn't be known until requirement are met. Devour hope springs up after 3rd token. Why does huntress lullaby give warning before first hook? It's inconsistent.

    6) I think there are many add ons and items that are downright useless. I don't know numbers, but I'm sure there are things that are used in less than 1% of games across all platforms and ranks. Just remove them. Or change them. I vote for removal as those wasted bloodpoints on items no one uses adds redundant grind for zero reason.

    7) I think there should be environmental hazards added to the map. Terrain that slows both killer and survivor. Triggered actions that change the map a little. Switches that both roles can use to open doors or close windows.

    8) An anti camping perk that activates once a game on 2nd hook that teleports the survivor to a random locker that another survivor has to open.

Killers only "tunnel" the unhooked because in my case at least the unhooker hides so when they get back there's only the unhooked there so they get more spider hugs.

If that happens when i play killer i slug the unhooked and yeet over to the other side of the map. I feel like thats a fair balance, the unhooked gets a time out so as not to immediately pop a gen to punish my altruism.

  • Nerfing NOED would be the final nail in the coffin for fast gen speeds. As it is most survivors ignore totems but some will cleanse them, mostly out of fear of NOED. Its not much but survivors taking 14 seconds to cleanse a dull totem slows the game done a bit, however slight. Cleansing all 5 is almost the time it takes to do a full gen.

Removing the threat of NOED just gives zero reason to not do gens.

She slows the game especially with good add ons, not very many killers have better capabilities of taking care of loops, she stealthy too and can grab people off gens.

Except we are in a spinechill meta so being stealthy is a huge gamble. I find the dash only useful for hitting the obsession with stbfl as it doesn't remove stacks.

I happen to be a recent pig convert and think she should be higher than many people giver her credit for, but definitely not a tier

  • All entity tenticles have nea heads on the ends

  • One of my worst mistakes was feeding a myers by commiting to a gen. I thought i was blocked from his stalk and the gen was 95%. I popped the gen and he got tier 3. Thought trading a hook for a gen was a good idea. Got hooked and waited for tier 3 to go away. And waited. And waited. It never did. He didn't have the insta kill but permanent tier 3 when only 1 gen is done is pretty much the same.

    I never underestimate myers anymore.

Someone actually did the math on this:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/140864/math-of-the-rift

FIFTY SEVEN additional hours of gameplay ON TOP of finishing the challenges.

Utterly out of proportion. Honestly, it feels kind of like a scam this time.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1186693#Comment_1186693

"Since the challenges can now be completed in fewer matches, you may need to play additional matches after completing the Tome in order to reach Tier 70 in The Rift. "

You MAY NEED is a false statement. You're the devs of this game, I'm sure you've done your math, you KNEW you would ABSOLUTELY need to play additional matches to complete The Rift. If you didn't know, your quality and consumer satisfaction control is horrific. You could of course just admit to wanting to pressure people into buying those sweet auric cells, if that's the case.

Whatever the reason, the grind is just not okay at this point.

No. You are taking the rift fragments earned and then adding up the remainder of fragments needed without taking into account the fragments earned while playing to complete the challenges. Basically you have to subtract the hours taken completing the challenges away from that 57 hour total. So if it took you 50 hours to complete all challenges, you would only need 7 hours of grinding.

For me i had 2 challenges left when I hit tier 70. I took my time and didnt farm. To be fair i didn't think i would finish it but i managed with decent matchmaking at the end.

Was this in the killer shack or elsewhere? Were you in the basement or outside?

Gas heaven. Middle building. Just weird. Ive never been taken that off guard against a non scratched mirror build.

    Thanks for answering all

  • @Schmierbach said:

No it's always been 16m in Tier 2, 8m with MaA outside a chase and 4m with Dead Rabbit + MaA outside a chase.

Thanks but he was standing right next to basement stairs stalking and i didn't hear a thing. He didn't have dead rabbit either. Just seemed off.

  • Nah. Skins don't matter. Only person who gets purposely tunneled is the person running OoO. Even if it means throwing the game lol

  • I have the 4 unhook and 3 iri malicious challenges left but hit tier 70 last night. I'm taking a break now.

  • There was one game where 2dc'd I killed one and downed the last. Picked her up and she rode my shoulder for 10 minutes looking for the hatch. Never found it. Have her one more gen. Sent an apology messegeand killed her. That hatch was not there at all.

  • I have to agree with OP in sone aspects OG Freddy had a certain charm that reworked Freddy just doesn't. Yes new Freddy is without a doubt stronger and more 'viable' but he isn't as much fun.

As far as whether or not he was good at high ranks, I'd like to point out that there are people who play legion, clown, or Wraith effectively at rank 1. And they are almost universally considered the lowest of the low.

If I'm not mistaken, a freddy won a tournament.

Every killer is viable depending on the person playing him.

  • Ok. He is a 110% movement speed killer with an 18 meter range. Meaning without anything to reduce his terror radius, a survivor will be gone before he could do anything.

Being able to reduce his terror radius means he actually has a chance to catch survivors with his weapon that can't down.

I think its funny that survivors refuse to play stealthy so killers have to.

I haven't heard them say that for a while. In fact, the last I heard was them explicitly discussing on stream the fact that the matchmaking system has some serious bugs in it and is not working as intended. That's what I meant when I said even the devs themselves are very much aware that matchmaking is broken - not that they know the players are unhappy with it, but that they know it's literally broken, that is, not functioning as it was supposed to. They've been very open about that fact, which is why I say there's no pretense here.

If thats the case then you are right. I don't watch many streams so all i can go by are the forum updates they give from time to time.

  • @Elena said:

Do you know when this fix will come into place? Or will we have to wait for the developer's to announce it?

No word other than they were looking to implement it and then the entire community saying they were stupid and it would never work.

Honestly if the devs just gave up I wouldn't blame them. This community sucks sometimes.

To be clear this thread was started because of frustration with the current system. I'm in no way trying to insult the devs.

  • @Fibijean said:

There is no pretense. Everyone and their mother - including the devs themselves - knows that matchmaking is broken and the current rank system is heavily flawed. That's precisely why they're working on overhauling it.

The pretense is them saying that the game looks at rank and slowly expands the number trying to keep in a +/- 6 rank range. If nothing is there then it goes beyond. So I'm getting instant killer games, like 5 seconds after hitting search, and getting matched with full groups 8 or so ranks higher than me.

So either system isn't looking to hard, system doesn't work, or system just checks on one side (survivor) and when it doesn't find anything it just throws whatever killer it finds to the wolves.

If the 3rd is how it works tell us. Don't give us false pretenses of a system working a certain way when it doesn't even try

  • @Kwikwitted said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1179548#Comment_1179548

Oh make no mistake, the matchmaking is really bad, I think most people would agree with you, I just don't think blowing the whole system up would solve that issue.

The best advice I can give is to succeed as killer you have to be as good at chases as you possibly can be. This was a video that really put me from a semi-decent killer to a much better chaser.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8u0jRxN2kQ&t=748s

Just treat each game right now as practice, try to find mistakes you make and correct them as you go, focus on each chase and what you can do to improve.

Best of luck as you go :)

Thanks for the advice! I usually watch Ohtofu doing his game analysis vids where he critiques others play. I do need to learn tile running better too.

Quick question. Are scratchmarks not as bright as they used to be? On the new map and yamaoka especially they just don't show up hardly at all. It's really irritating to he honest.

  • @Kwikwitted said:

I mean as someone who plays at Rank 1 as killer, and just expects to end up against sweaty and optimal survivors, that would just be amazing, because I'm used to all red ranks each game, so if you're just gonna give me whatever comes down the pipe, first come first serve, my only thought is "FINALLY some chill games".

I don't think that's the way to fix the system though, even though I would personally benefit greatly.

I respect the hell out of people who can play at that level and actually want to lol.

I don't know what will fix matchmaking. I know i need to git gudder. But the system we have now is just terrible

  • IF I complete the challenges i will have to grind maybe 3 or 4 games.

I didn't farm at all so some challenges took me many many tries. Others took one try.

For me, as annoying as some of these challenges were and are, they gave me almost exactly what i needed to complete the rift. So im ok with it. Better players would definitely need less attempts to finish everything. I play solo so that definitly adds to the challenge

I don't know exact stats, but i stay between rank 4-5, and some nights i can pretty much do whatever i want and walk out the exit door like the killer wasn't even on the map. Other nights i struggle to get a gen done.

I will say this though, the magical 2 live 2 die balance point doesn't exist.

From survivor pov, its an everyone escape or no one does almost all the time.

Same thing with killer. I either 4k or (3k hatch) or i get my ass handed to me and maybe get 1k.
