As there should be better rewards than those that are in ptb now for not tunneling dont you think too, punishing one side for doing one thing that is tactic but you dont want to see it on 5 gens like some comp game you cant just punish it but have to reward doing the opposite too which is some thing some survivor only enjoyers dont see because they are stuck playing one role and cry about their main role only something that isnt able to balance the game because they see only one side of the coin and are too bling to see other side tho.

I'm currently playing more killer than survivor and don't feel I need a lollipop and a pat on the head for not tunneling at 5 gens. Don't assume everyone who thinks this narrative is bs only plays survivor.

killers have it very easy and i don't want to pretend that there's no skill or no requirement to play killer. obviously there is. but even really bad killers tend to have a 50% kill rate, or in the ballpark of. that's pretty good when you're not good at the game. a lot of really good survivors don't have a 50% escape rate. so to me it's just comical that it's even a discussion.

Yeah this is what I don't understand about this. Killer is designed to get 60% and survivor is designed to get 40%. It's intended the killer defeat two to three individual people per match. I can maintain a 60% with no effort yet I feel I struggle just for that 40%.

We have enviromental affections and the game is just fine with them, but too many people complained that it was hard to play the actual game when the Fog was taken to the darkest level or maxed brightness.
Honestly, they need to bring it back. The game just has sterile non scary atmosphere now.

    >new moon boquet turn daytime maps into nighttime variants, with a different lighting, and have the full moon boquet do the opposite, turning nighttime maps into daytime variants.

Thematically, that makes no sense and honestly, it was just one of those things that early DBD caved on.
But also the main reason why the said they removed it was because of the work it took to make four variants of each map to fit the offering level.

But DBD is a massive company and there is no reason to not do it.
The code is already spaghettie, bringing back moonlit offerings are not going to break the game anymore then what we normally get with new content.

    >ambience in any way, like a thick fo

We already have that, they are called reagents, but they were gutted into being a meme now.

    >And could you imagine playing against a stealthy killer, with a thunderstorm ambience on the map. Low visibility, but during the flashes of lightning, you could see the killer in the distance. That would be absolutely creepy, and would for sure bring true horror back to the game.

As mentioned before, the likehood of that EVER happening is extremely slim. for the reason listed.
But with bringing back offerings and by proxxy, reagents, we could bring back the horror to the game.
Make the game feel like a cat and mouse game again and not a looping til you get hoop simulator.

But all that has its own issues and complexities of having to try to rebalance everything for the vintage game and I just sadly do not see that era coming back.

What I wouldnt give for DBD Classic…

I think the problem would be drastically different results on different maps, like how fog vials are. It would take a lot fine tuning per map that I just lack hope in happening.

But yeah, I'd love a more horrory feel and less running in circles.

  • I wish at least they'd have environmental changes. Rain, snow, etc. But it'd be buggy mess.

Thanks for admitting in your own comment that those killers are at low MMR ;)

Just think rationally for one moment, Don't you think for yourself that you are an outlier right now when all major streamers with thousands of hours on one specific killer rly struggle right now, especially low tier killers. No bells ringing for you? no? :) If you really are that good, you are a top 1% player and just don't realize it… You are waaaaaay above the average. Even the top Nightlight killer stat is aprox 60%, just the same as BHVRs 'average' top killer stat is near 60%.

So again, I would like to believe im the rational analyst here ;) with thousands of hours in 50/50 play. When I get 66% escape rate, without much effort… but lower Kill rate on any killer below the top 10… (There are 40+ killers at this point)… don't u see the game is thus massively shifted in the survivors favor? Even as a solo player I see a majority of top 10 killers in my matches, and I still escape about half of those…

Anyways I don't know why I keep doing this to myself, going into this useless arguments. People will never analyze the situation rationally here.

I probably should'nt even mention the fact about the rampant cheaters right now which makes it nearly impossible to get that high in kill rate, at least not at top MMR by normal play :D But I'll make it a footnote anyway. Every 5 matches you get all gens popping in the first minute, obviously cheats of course. So personally, I am convinced your Dredge stat is massively manipulated one way or another, probably by lowering MMR hard. I did this MMR test myself not to long ago, so I know its possible to achieve such a Killrate by abnormal play. I also went on an abnormally long 4k streak, in a 30 day period, on a low tier killer after lowering MMR.

First of all, define struggle. Mostly what I hear is an entitlement to win. If MMR is working and they're top tier players, then their opponents should also be top tier, and they shouldn't be getting insane winstreaks. They should be losing matches if the field is level.

If you're saying you can maintain 66% without much effort except on certain killers, than you're doing better than the goal. The problem is people think they deserve more than the 60%. I don't think killers are designed so you have a universal experience with wins and losses. Some are more challenging than others.

I have no idea what my MMR is. Probably the upper mid one? Idk? I don't even know how to lower it. If I win for 20 hours it's safe to say the MMR has gone up. Usually just 10-20 wins on a new killer presents an immediate shift from decent opponenents into good ones, with the occasional mysterious potatoes making random appearances.

Cheaters are neither here nor there in terms of proper game issues, and also seem to vary by region and time of day. I rarely see blatant cheaters. It's possible I don't notice the subtle ones.

Might want to add which killer that is, if you want some credibility to that screenshot ;) Anyone can do that on Nurse or Blight, you know… And if that percentage is from anything below what is considered A tier killer right now, you are a top 1% killer, beyond reasonable doubt. That or your MMR is bottomed, either by merrit or on purpose.

Anyway, How about Im a 2016 player with thousands upon thousands of hours… does that have any weight? I play 50/50 and When I say survivor is easy mode, does that not have any weight at all? Am I just some outlier to you or I don't fit your narrative? How about all those big name streamers that say the same thing? Do they have any weight in this convo?

The streamer I was watching nearly religiously stopped playing DBD completely recently. "It's just not worth the misery". I agree. Lately he only played to just antagonize killers, TBAG the hell out of them at every corner, just because he can (and hes frustrated by how much of a sweatfest killerside is). Half of the time the killer just DC"d, the other half he just escaped with a furious killer in chat. So hes sort of rebelling against BHVR's balance team, not to be mean, but to make a point.

PS EDIT: Person above me has even more escape rate… If I were playing in a SWF, I would probably get that high too. Survivor IS easy mode right now.

Top 1% hahaha omg never. I'm so outrageously average it's ridiculous. This is my monthly, it's where I'm currently at, but my overall is 65% cause I sucked for awhile. I've also given a lot of mercy and hatches, and am pretty memey and easy to tame. But I've lost some of my chill recently. Hopefully I'll regain it soon.

I've never really played as either of those two. These are my flavors of the month:

    Screenshot_20251025_105528.jpg

Funny enough, Dracula is probably the highest regarded yet he's my lower number. I don't really agree with these arbitrary tier lists, many of which come from streamers' opinons, but I don't think most people consider Dredge A-tier.

I'm not doing anything to affect my MMR intentionally. I have no reason to. I don't stream. The stats are for me and to occasionally make a point because it's kinda required. The MMR is garbage though. I get a ridiculously varied group of opponents. One match it's the psycho sweat team, the next it's a 200 hourer running straight into a dead zone without ever looking behind them.

I don't give this game a ton of money, so licensed killers that people complain about, like Pig, I don't even have unlocked. So I can't comment on them accept playing against them. But these so-called weak killers 4k against me all the time so it's pretty infuriating to hear them described as such all the time.

Do streamers have weight? Yes, very unfortunately so. They sadly have most of the weight, and most of the popular streamers lean killer. The selling point of this game is killer. This is what's affecting everything. And I don't think that's fixable. The balance of this game comes down to money.

It's been noticed that the stats for survivor count abandons as non-deaths, so personal survivor stats are kinda worthless if you use that feature. And most seem to. So I sadly can't trust anyone's survivor stats anymore. BHVR is giving us vanity stats.

The survivor scenario could be done in a much more boring way, where the survivor continues watching games after they are sacrificed, to see if one of their teammates abandons the game afterwards.

But the easiest way is having a SWF test it, to guarantee multiple survivors are trying to press the abandon button.

I'm already spectating in parties so this is no problem, but I feel like it won't effect my rate unless I'm the one to press it. Otherwise, I'd have a better rate than I do. I already write down my survivor matches so I could just see if my official rates match my notes. I just never bothered.

All it takes is a medkit with addons or for the tunneled survivor to just lead the killer to the other survivors to divert the killers focus, it´s not that hard. And with the pallet density update half of the maps have good RNG. Also if you don´t pick your teammates in solo queue then that´s on you. There´s a reason why survivor tier lists and stereotypes exist and why a lot of the time an average solo queue lobby has frequent lobby dodging.

Add-ons that are almost certainly getting nerfed. And have you been tunneled? The killers who've decided to do it completely ignore survivors who literally hurl themselves onto their knives. I've been slugged trying to save someone many times and the killer just leaves me there and goes after their original target. I've had all three teammates try to break their focus off me to no avail. People determined to hard tunnel with do it if they want to.

I think someone would need to test if the abandon button throws out the game for everyone.

Example 1: Survivor A gets sacrificed, then Survivor B abandons the game. Does the game get thrown out for Survivor A?

Example 2: Killer sacrifices 4 survivors, but the 4th survivor abandons before being sacrificed. Does the game get thrown out for Killer A?

I just started doing this as killler yesterday. I'm writing down my matches and how many abandons and DCs occur, along with match outcome. Then I'll compare them to my 30 day stats after that amount of time passes. I'm also noting these random escapes that's were abandons showing up on recent match history. Those I'm really curious about their impact on my own stats. There's no apparent rhyme or reason for them either, except that if two people abandon, one gets the escape icon and one gets th DC one.

My stats change everyday despite there being either an abandon or a DC (or both) in every match, so I think personal stats for killers are mostly unaffected. But I have no idea about my MMR.

I'd like to try the experiment using abandon as survivor but I don't know if I want to screw up my stats. Not using the abandon and not DCing probably makes me rare amongst accurate stat holders. I don't want vanity stats.

  • Someone in end game chat once said they tunnelled someone for blast mine and it ended up being the wrong person. People get tunneled for user names and cosmetics. It's easy and available and most survivors are powerless to stop it. That's why they do it—because they can, and nothing is stopping them. These changes won't either.

  • What anti-tunnel? Like what's happening in this proposal that will stop you from tunnelling? Hit them right off hook and it's the same as it is now. Maintain LoS and you'll get them again. There are zero penalties proposed for tunnelling. These measures are outrageously soft. Medkits are likely getting nerfed yet the crying has already begun.

A lot of killers are usless, unless you have like 10k hours in the game. Because of their lack of speed, they waste too much time getting from A to B and in chases, where just a few mistakes can cost them the whole game.

Who is useless? And the only way to fix that is individual reworks, which take time, unlike simple fixes to overall survivors, which are much simpler to do.

  • What pressing killer issues aren't being addressed?

no perks are more boring than lightborn imo, id rather the extra slow down. its like 20 seconds extra on a gen or a boring game where survivors dont want to interact with the killer and are forced to do nothing but gens or just give up and go next out of sheer boredom.

Just because you can't Incapacitate the killer doesn't mean you can't interact with them. I don't like hook denials. My entire build revolves around that. I don't really participate in them as survivor either. If it wasn't for Lightborn, I'd be doing way more slugging. If it gets nerfed, that's the likely outcome, and I'll probably switch it with something harsher like Infectious Fright.

Flashlights are the only directly offensive survivor item. They're high risk/high reward. The risk is Lightborn.

  • @Hex_Sable_Mains said:

The fact that nobody from BHVR has responded to this thread is extremely concerning. I think it basically tells us what many of us suspect. They really screwed up the stats with the abandon system and now they are going in silent mode hoping that this blows over and we forget about it.

They might as well take down the stats tracker page because the stats are completely bogus.

If you don't use the abandon button or DC, I guess your personal stats are accurate? The global stats don't seem to be, though, if that much data is tossed, and the silence on this post is indeed deafening.

  • I basically never take Lightborn off. I could bring something way worse. As it is, it goes unused in most of my matches. I will say, the aura read is a little overkill. Just the immunity is fine with me. Blastmines still work on Lightborn users too.

The problem is that this update ignores moments when the killer has no choice but to try to deal with those who came to save the survivor. You probably haven't noticed, but this tweaker doesn't reset after a second fall; they don't say anything about it, meaning lose-lose situations are still possible for the killer, with proper playstyle from the survivors.

It's never taken me two minutes to deal with any issues that arise. And what happens if they get up? Just hit them again. There's going to be some sort of reset. People who hit the two minutes aren't going to jump up the moment they hit the ground again. You probably have to fill the standard 32 second bar, which should be enough time as is. 120s is a joke of a length.

  • I played 14 killer matches today. 6 had survivor DCs. Some had more than one. All of them were 4Ks. The concerning part to me is that these matches don't count towards the official stats. That means 40% of my matches today were tossed out, and they all favored killer numbers.

  • @The_Count said:

    Yes, I do.
These things are strong, but I can deal with them and my chases also get more interesting. It's pretty frustrating losing because survs did the most unskilled thing possible which is just complete gens way before they should.

Also it's pretty clear the difference between good survs and bully squads. I just emphasized that because I didn't saw you say anything about it before.

It's pretty frustrating losing because survs did the most unskilled thing possible which is just complete gens way before they should.

This just never really happens to me much idk

I much prefer to keep up full map pressure so no one can even touch the gens than to get hit with a syptic or DH. Everything is it's own sort of skill. Knowing which gens to do when and where the killer is is a gamesense skill for survivors.

I just emphasized that because I didn't saw you say anything about it before.

Because "what about bully squads" comes up so often in this forum despite them barely even existing that it's become a joke to me.

  • @The_Count said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4019249#Comment_4019249

I see your point and completely disagree, but let's forget about it for now.
    What about bully squads?

Maybe elaborate on what you disagree on? You'd rather everyone have Made for This, DH, DS, Background Player, and a medkit with a syptic than a toolbox and gen perks?

I'm so tired of this bully squad stuff. I got tunneled about four times in my last batch of survivor matches but, as far as I can tell, I last saw a bully squad when I was new. They're a noob problem and barely even exist. Put on Lightborn and Awakened Awareness and they're done. I say "as far as I can tell" because if I did encounter them, I'd probably steam roll them without even noticing.

I kinda feel, the more constant references I hear to bully squads, that people don't know what they are. Aggressive and coodrinated team players who sabo and body block and don't run from you in terror just becuase you're the killler aren't bully squads—they're just good.

  • Gen rushing comes from when BNPs did the whole gen for you. You can only go so fast now, even with perks and items. Keep up your pressure and it's no issue. I bring a gen build as survivor and still lose more than I win. I barely even kick gens as killer and bring no gen regress perks and still win more than I lose.

If the gens were going "faster than their supposed to" the perks and items wouldn't exist. Choosing to bring a toolbox over a medkit is a potential danger. Using Deja Vu and Prove Thyself instead of second chance or exhaustion makes you more vulnerable in chase. I'd rather deal with gen perks and items as killler than endless Sprint Bursts and DHs.

I'm not the one making the claim here, the person i was replying to is. They said: "i just run these perks and i'm having a great time" so i'm pointing out things contrary to that, the onus is on them to provide the evidence that their claims are correct.

Not sure how one proves that they're having a great time. But you did, in fact, make two big, blanket claims about how bad every single first chase is and how every killer is the same one. That is something you can prove.

  • @Reinami said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4019084#Comment_4019084

When they have 8000 pallets you are always going to have an awful first chase unless the survivor is bad. That's why people are playing the top tier killers only right now because they still have good first chases.

So many definitives. ALWAYS going to have a bad first chase. ONLY playing the top tier killers. I realize being hyperbolic on the internet traditionally gets killers what they want (and it will this time too) but these things just aren't true. I'm not playing any of these suposed top tier killers right now nor am I seeing them often in my survivor matches.

You want evidence? Then give evidence. Post your stream of videos that show 3 gens popping during first chase with you making no mistakes and it solely being because of pallets, match after match. Post a stream of videos of survivor matches with nothing but Blights and Nurses.

Dbd apparently since escapes means yeah you're in high mmr

Not if you hide and only ever get hatch. Hatch doesn't raise MMR. Rats can only go so far playing like that.

  • I agree. Survivor has issues. I play both, but I advocate for survivor because I don't have any problems as killer and I'm pretty unhappy as survivor. Soloq has become unbearable. I gave up on it months ago. But my discontent friends are drifting away at a rate that I can't keep up with and I'm worried I'll be a killer-only player if I lose many more. I want to enjoy both but that currently isn't the case. I can 4k 10+ matches in a row as killer. Even that small streak is nearly impossible for me as survivor, yet i probably put more effort and thought into that role. I can kinda autopilot on killer. It shouldn't be that way.

  • I don't know who considers that a high skill level...

  • @UndeddJester said:

Statistics can be used to prove whatever you want, depending on what data you choose to ignore.

    For example:

    • 4 man SWF in high MMR has an escape rate of 48.2%.
    • Average kill rate in high MMR for Nurse and Blight in 67% and 69% respectively.
    • Given S tier killers are the most frequently played at high MMR and have su h a high killrate, doesn't this imply that non S tier killers get utterly eviscerated by 4 man SWFs?

Sounds right, and hey look at that, I have a stats based argument to say all non S tier killers should be buffed. Yay for me.

However, in reality, no you shouldn't buy into that narrative, because these stats are nowhere near enough to paint the full picture. We have very little real data to really draw any conclusions. This numbers prove very little about what is actually going on in DBD.

Yeah, considering all the numbers appear to be wrong thanks to DCs and abandons, we have basically no trustworthy data to work with. It's also unknowabke how often parties are on comms.

  • Stop closing the discussions!

That is insane, but like today I had a Feng in my team that unhook everyone next to the killer and he tunnel every one of them. At the end screen she had Left Behind and she was a 34 level prestige - so it wasn't a newbie or a accident…but someone just played this way.

As for the kind and friendly killers. I feel like there are many out there. The more I play, the easier I can also notice when a killer "swap" his target to let someone play longer or how when they find a group of survivors, they choose the ones without hook states as the priority. I always try to appreciate it later in the chat. But also I feel like any game even if it ends in all of us dead, that let me play a bit and do some things for a while is a good one and most of my games at the moment at least - let me have that fun. I hope it will stay that way despite the horror stories in this forum😮

This is why I don't like it when people refer to tunneling off hook as "making them pay for their mistakes." Not only is it not the unhooked person's fault, they're also not always mistakes. Some people in soloq are actively working against teammates. People in the forum have even said they'll lead killlers to teammates to use them as shields.

  • @Nazzzak said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4018467#Comment_4018467

They do though, every time they release official stats it says that games with DCs aren't included

Then, considering the amount of DCs people say they see in their soloq matches, that's going to be a sizable chunk of the data being tossed out. And the matches that have DCs (at least when I play) are usually the ones where survivors are losing. Killer DCs are much rarer. So kill rates are likely deflated while survival rates are inflated. That means not a single number is an accurate reflection. Not the official stats, not the personal stats, not the secret MMR. Why even have these numbers available if they're all wonky?

  • I'm just going to say this here instead of on each individual post:

The pallet density has had zero effect on my outcomes and I'm not playing Ghoul, Blight, Nurse, or Krasue. My 30 day stats are 20% above the target 60% out of 200+ matches and these changes have been in play during that time. The massive unsafe dead zones, either mid-map or edge, needed to be filled. You shouldn't be able to get free hits because the RNG gave no resources. I don't want to see this be something that killlers get to decide for survivors.

i think anyone that has played pvp with VC will know the levels of toxicity it can have but i have thicker skin than most it seems. there is literally nothing anyone can say in VC that would effect me, i have heard it all and it really doesn't bother me. maybe loud music playing would annoy me but simple mute and problem solved. how is playing altruistic proving yourself? i can meet very skilled, very altruistic peaple, add them to find they are unpleasant like you said you deleted some. playing nice in the game doesnt prove anything about the person, their views or attitude. my actions in the game might appear toxic to some but they dont see whats going on on my screen, i might have valid reason for not going for a save. They might then think im being toxic and not worthy of friending up due to my actions which i cant explain or justify in the match. if i had VC i could explain my actions and they could see im not being toxic, im doing what im doing for a reason.

personally i think judging someone based on in game actions is a poor way to judge if these people are suitable friends. it might work for you but i dont intend to prove myself as a worthy friend by my in game actions in the hope to earn comms. any friends i make i want to talk to them first before i add them.

You went from saying VC isn't that bad and interactions are never toxic to saying you have thick skin and you've heard it all. Which is it?

And if you're skin was thick you wouldn't be pressed by something as childish as tbagging, as you stated you are. Just like these people who are pressed about end game chat. Even the ones that say they aren't and just don't realize how absorbing all that hate slowly gets to them and changes their views. You can't have people telling you to off yourself or get cancer everyday and not take some of that in. The views of console players and PC players on the game's toxicity levels vary drastically because of this difference. We just had a post in the last couple hours where someone said they feel survivors as a whole deserve to be tunnelied because of tbagging and chat. And it's a fairly common view. Clearly, these things affect people.

lol again with the earn friends to be able to communicate. im sorry its always been you talk to make friends not make friends to then talk. seems a bit backwards to me to add random people who i dont know then talk to them and find out if i like them. i have made some friends playing games but thats because i was able to talk to them in game. we clicked, got on and wanted to play again so we added eachother. if we dont click we simply dont add them. imo you seem to have put up this shield to protect yourself from vile VC which is fine but not everyone needs this level of protection, i certainly dont.

The shield is up because 90% of my experiences with VC over a near 2 decades have been negative. I've had this talk with a lot of people and most feel similar. Even in this game I've had people I've immediately deleted because of how unpleasant they were on VC.

In this game, it's not backwards. People add me because I'm an altruistic team player. You make friends by proving yourself in game. The only exception has been people I've met thtough the forum, which allows you to form a pretty solid opinion of someone before playing with them or speaking to them. It'd be nice if the meet up section of the forum was more active, or if there were more ways to meet other similar players without having to speak. Not everyone wants to talk to strangers. The nice thing about texting or playing is you can feel people out first and not have to get blasted with explicitives, music, screaming kids, or whatever other nightmare awaits on the other side.

im good with a chat wheel and aura reading… if my solo player team mates find a hex totem i would love for it to show up on my screen. might actually encourage me to play as a team player…might lol i make no promises on that one.

i agree people using different equipment and different surroundings offer a different experience but i dont think we should intentionally widen the gap but denying some players something while offering it to other players… like having a lobby chat for pc but not console players. things we can offer to all i think we should offer to all. we cant control everything to make people have 100% equal experience like what headset they use but i think what we can control to offer as close as possible should be done. i dont think we can use the excuse of "the ground will always be uneven" to justify making it even more uneven. it would be a different story if we said pc players cant use sprint burst but they can have other things console players cant have which is ok because the ground will always be uneven. it just doesnt excuse inequality with what can be offered to all.

Then the chat wheel should be fine. The only way to make that toxic is by using it to lie about info, and that wouldn't touch the potential toxicity of VC.

PC players have a lot of things console players don't, not just chat. This game was made for PC. Console players are second class. Some killers are incredibly hard on controller compared to KBM. Shaders are a good example, and any external settings outside the game. The difference is that a Switch user can never have shaders but VC is available if you jump through a few hoops. You, yourself, just aren't a team player and aren't likely making any friends the way you're playing. That's a choice. Play nice and make friends and you can chat.

exactly my point you cant nerf just one group of people which makes nerfing and buffing and balancing impossible untill everyone is on a level playing field. untill that happens there will always be a particular group that get raw end of it. at the moment its soloq. cant buff soloq without buffing SWF. buffed SWF with comms no matter how small this group may or may not be would be game breaking thats why survivors often dont get the buffs they need. look at the all the perks that seemed healthy in solo but SWF teams abused them so they got nerfed.

again you say people already use comms on xbox by sending invites so assuming that many people are doing this then it wouldnt be a big deal if we just made it so xbox players could talk to pc players via comms. But i doubt many xbox players are actually doing this. i played on xbox when i first started and i never did that besides, the xbox player base is a fraction on what the full player base is anyway. i would be interested to hear from xbox players how many are actually sending random people invites to use comms in the match. i do agree the ground is uneven for all players which is my point, how do you balance a game so soloq doesnt suck with such an unbalanced, uneven ground at its core. it cant be done. like it or not, if we are ever going to get balance where everyone has a good time, killer survivor, solo, swf then this uneven ground needs to be smoothed out a little. a big step towards that goal is making solo and swf more inline with eachother. comms is the way to do that. or a system that lets solo players call out hex locations, current whereabouts and other things SWF can do via comms.

cant buff soloq without buffing SWF.

Not so. You could give survivors basekit Kinderd or Visionary or another info perk. SWF on comms already have this info. They won't benefit much, if at all. In fact, many people in the forum have been calling for this.

But i doubt many xbox players are actually doing this.

I'm not on xbox but yeah, you have to be in a lobby with someone from your platform. You have to press a few things to do it. You have to care enough. When it's happened to me, I've ignored it. I've even had a few people hound me in game for ignoring it. As killer, I've messaged survivors mid-game. Some of these have gotten me immediate VC requests. It happens.

    it cant be done

Exactly, it can't. Are you using an expensive headset or busted speakers with your kids screaming in the background. A tiny Switch screen or a pricey monitor or a giant TV. The ground will always be uneven, especially with the advent of crossplay.

or a system that lets solo players call out hex locations, current whereabouts and other things

This I'm 100% on board with. The game needs a chat wheel big time, with a basic list of dialogues. There is only so much to say if you're not on friendly terms.

But you said not all SWF use comms even though they are available…the ones that do and use it efficiently have an advantage.

not all solo players would use comms but the ones that use it efficiently would have an advantage.

you already said everyone has comms via discord or xbox or any number of ways so by your logic comms is available to everyone already if they decide to do that. much like everyone having comms in game and having the decision to use it or not or to have a laugh or play like a swat team or not. but you also say would be available to everyone but currently it isnt… bit of a contradiction there. its either available to everyone or its not.

i will rephrase, being as cant blanket nerf SWF due to not all SWF having comms….nerf SWF using comms like a pro swat team instead. not all SWF use comms this way just like not all solo players would use comms this way but your saying a blanket nerf to all survivors would be called for if all had the option of comms regardless if they use it for call outs or not. this has to apply to SWF too or it shows double standards. cant refuse a blanket nerf on SWF on this basis no all SWF use comms this way or at all but then in the same breath say a blanket nerf to all survivors would be needed. if its needed for all survivors due to them having comms its needed currently for SWF as they already have comms.

"The game is built around its limited communications" and the next post you say "The game is designed around comms whether they intended to or not". These statements confuses me because the game being build around comms means everyone has it, everyone has the choice to use it and they build with that aspect in mind. but the game being build around LIMITED comms means not everyone has it. these are 2 very different things.

Games like cod is built around comms, not partial comms. The devs dont restrict solo players talking to team mates while the opposite team is in a party with comms. they make it so all players can easily access comms if they choose to and build the game around this. i cant imagine the complaints if people were told "no comms unless you party up" people would then party up to use comms for a tactical advantage just like SWF often do in dbd.

I'm not saying they'd be needed in that they truly would be needed to balance the game, I'm saying they'd be needed as compensation because killers will cry, and when that happens, they tend to get what they want. I don't personally think it's needed, I just think it would happen. The fact that they're asking for feedback about the pallet density means a nerf is coming. It's always the same story.

nerf SWF using comms like a pro swat team instead

Nerf SWF that play efficiently? How do you nerf one group of people? What will you base it on? Vigil was already nerfed for this reason but there's only so much you can do. Solos on comms would likely be more tactical than parties anyway, because they're not friends and they're not having a laugh. They have nothing to say to each other but in-game things.

"The game is built around its limited communications" and the next post you say "The game is designed around comms whether they intended to or not"

These can both be true. It's limited in that some people are doing it and some aren't. The fact that a small group of exceptional players can use comms to boost their stats will cause balance changes even if the dev team can't specifically account for it and just goes by ERs.

i cant imagine the complaints if people were told "no comms unless you party up"

You already can be on comms with strangers in DbD if you're on console. You can send VC requests in lobby. People already do this. And PC users have pre and post game chat whereas console players don't. The ground is uneven for all players. There's no singular experience.

why would survivors be nerfed if everyone had comms then? people already have comms available so why would there be a nerf?

Because it would be everyone, where it currently isn't. It's a whole-game change. Killers can't even handle more pallets. I can't imagine the tears and screams if survivors got comms. BHVR would have to compensate them somehow. Even if the comms ended up not being very beneficial at all, they would be perceived as such. There's already so much complaining about the SWF boogeyman as is.

if people dont mute they bring it on themselves, its like people that know they can hide their player name in the lobby but choose not to. should we stop everyones name from being seen because some people cant decide for themselves to hide it if it gets too much for them? we are not children, we can decide for ourselves if we want to mute or not or hide name or not. you have said what i was saying a while ago though. the game is built around no comms… offer comms will mean nefs to survivors. why? because it makes them op having comms that the game isnt designed for so will need nerfs. you have just described SWF. should we nerf them?

First off, having comms doesn't make you a pro. Half my VC interactions are jokes and laughter, not clock callouts and militant plays. If anything, they're often a hinderance if you're being too silly. You can't blanket nerf SWF because there's too many forms. Most parties I play in aren't on comms, or sometimes some members are and some aren't. The system has no way to determine this. Even if you make parties visble to killers in the lobby, you still don't know if they're on comms. You'd be surprised how many parties aren't. I'm always in a party but I'm rarely on comms.

The game is designed around comms whether they intended to or not, simply because comms exist. Everyone can add people as friends in game. Everyone has access to Discord. Console players can chat without it. A killer can even invite a survivor to VC mid-game on console. The way the system is now allows you to vet people and have an immediately friendly stance so you don't have to talk to some unbearable random. Or have some backstabbing rat try to us the VC to turn their teammate into a shield with false info.

If open VC comes then the survivor wincon needs to change into win or lose based on the team outs, and individual ERs need to go. Because it would very much be a full team enterprise at that point.

Yeah, I would turn it off asap with this community.

Comm system won't fix useless teammates, quite the opposite. If I wanted to talk with them, I would just go find group on Discord, not like it's hard…

Chat wheel is "safe", simple and effective.

Chat wheel is the way. It's at least start. There's only so much you need to say anyway.

i played many pvp including cod but if i didnt want to hear comms i just mute, problem solved. thats what i mean, muting solves the issue your referring to but you claim that will cause more toxicity which i just dont see how. there have been countless pvp team games with comms over the years where i was the only one without comms and i have never been targeted for that reason, never been killed by my team mates for not having comms or anything like that. it sounds more like paranoia that you believe it would cause in increase in toxicity by muting someone if im honest. if people are going to be toxic they will be toxic regardless of comms or not but muting someone (which they often wouldnt even know they are muted) wouldnt make you a target.

People aren't going to mute though, and the energy will get worse. End game chat is rife with toxicity. People complain endlessly about how it alters their mindsets about the game and their in-game actions, yet they keep it on, even people who come here and express severe negative affects and are burdened with anxiety because of it. You yourself said general BMing makes you tunnel and slug indiscriminately as killler. How much will you lash out if someone calls you an idiot mid-game?

The potential problems go beyond the toxicity. The game is built around its limited communications. If chat happened, survivor would be nerfed into oblivion to make up for it.

    Extremely one sided post

Killers have the power. But I also have multiple friends who use Plot Twist to give killers free kills at end game. I've let friendly killers kill me plenty myself. Plenty of chill players on both sides.

im still waiting on where you get his assumption from. this never happened in TCM or any game i have ever played in the 20+ years of playing pvp with VC. not once i have ever come across anyone that targeted someone over someone muting them. TCM in particular had a pretty mixed bag of people with comms and people without so i really dont see where you get this idea from.

From playing just as long. You ever played a shooter? CoD? Nothing but toxicity. You haven't lived until a 12-year-old boy has hurled slurs at you. I've never seen a PvP where VC was anything less than viscious. DbD is already hostile. If you think all these BMing dicks who are outrageous in chat are just gonna be sunshine and rainbows in VC then you're naive.

As for targeting, it remains to be seen. DbD has a larger audience and older culture than TCM had, and a lot of ingrained toxicity. I've been sandbagged for minor offenses, I'm sure I'll be sandbagged for not talking too.

I changed my topic of conversation as I realized after posting it, i'm likely to not be agreed with by most nor the discussion to be constructive either way.

I am curious if ppl think myers is in a good state enough already currently or if the movement restriction is warranted to still go through, I don't see an issue personally in a killer going from d tier to a tier, as long as there is still counterplay, which I think there is, and other things can be rebalanced like his timers. But I think the slaughtering strike would be way better and more fun to use if it had less straightforward applications and could be used to mindgame at a pallet by faking direction which only works if it functions like pigs dash. Currently if you try and do that as myers you are basically locked in place when you collide with an object.

Bro really, the whole post lol

My experience with comms across my entire online gaming life finds it hard to read "Just tell them to do gens", and not laugh at the reality of how that will actually go.

I do often wonder if anyone advocating for comms in DBD has ever actually had comms in online gaming before... because I find it hard to believe anyone would willingly ask for it xD

Gamers (and humans in general) are grade A jerks 90% of the time behind the anonymity of the Internet. I use the word "jerk" to avoid saying anything bannable... but take "jerk" up about 10'000 notches and you'll reach what I actually mean.

I think adding voice comms is a waste of time, and I would demand an auto mute option in my game settings if it ever became a thing. The greatest bliss of console DBD is not having to hear/read anything from anyone in this bloody game...

Preset text messages might be fine though.

Open VC is the worst thing in PvP. I will never stop advocating against it. I used to play shooters with it and even the lobby was outrageously toxic. The amount of racist, homophobic, and sexist slurs being spouted every match was insane.

Even making friends in DbD and then joining them in chat has made me immediately delete some of them because they were so unpleasant. In a game like this, where VC would lead to more coordination and become pretty much mandatory, muting others or yourself is going to get you sandbagged to hell.

  • Kind killers and memey survivors keep this game alive for me. Friendly interactions--barriers coming down—helps keep my mindset in a good place. I'm much happier when I'm laughing and not sweating.
