  • When I do run deja it's usually to prevent a 3 gen situation not so much for the speed boost

  • I wouldnt call it toxic but it is a bit of a mishandle of the perk. However, there are methods on the killers end that feel the same as the offensive DS so I don't see how one is an issue while one is not.

Now to help avoid this as much as possible it's probably best for the killer to either not pick up the obvious ds survivor and slug or focus pressure on a different part of the map so the DS survivor can be rescued while you pressure gens and they have to take time to heal. This may sound very generic but there is also the map and chosen killer to consider so the approach will vary depending on your current situation.

  • This idea is cool sounding but I think it would have had to be something implemented in base game at launch. They could have had random cards similar to the offerings but you choose one that gives you certain buffs of sorts, but this is kinda moot due to perks and add ons plus the possibility of said card messing up a current game plan.

  • Only happened to me one time and it was while I was med kit healing in the basement on res forest

    I play on PS5

    1st Game:

Singularity hooks a Leon and starts to chase and down an Ada Wong.

Leaves her down and uses his teleport to come back to the hook right as the save happens on the Leon.

Why would I play this game? So I die on hook. :)

    2nd Game:

Leon gets downed. Haddie gets downed right next to Leon.

Leon gets hooked. I go for Leon. Haddie gets hooked right next to Leon because the hooks are literally right next to each other most of the time.

Unknown hooks Haddie and then goes back to Leon's hook and then is able to hit me AND spit the bomb on me.

Why would I play this game? So I die on hook. :)

Like how are any measures being put in to actually help the survivors enjoy the game? In the past 2 years there has been nerfed flashlights, nerfed medkits, nerfed survivor perks, nerfed loops, nerfed boons, an increase in silent killers, an increase in anti-loop killers, an increase in teleporting killers, an increase in aura reading perks, an increase in screaming perks, an increase in exposure perks. What have survivors gotten exactly? The ability to unhook if a killer stays right in their face HOPEFULLY before they hit 2nd hook as long as no teammates are around? I'm sure the additional seconds to decisive strike will help in the next patch………….. as long as you do nothing that is considered a conspicuous action… such as existing.

I already know these forums are killer-sided. The devs are killer-sided as well. But if no one ever actually speaks up for the survivors, you're going to lose them all.

PLAYERS DO NOT ENJOY SOLO-QUEUING ANYMORE.

PLAYERS FRIENDS HAVE STOPPED PLAYING BECAUSE OF THE IMBALANCE SO THEY STOP PLAYING ALSO.

I have a feeling that these lack some context actually. In your first game how long exactly did it take for ada to get downed and for Leon to be saved at the perfect time to be teleported to and checked? Did the singularity even chase the Leon or did he take his chances with the unhooker? Was the endurance hit used? When during all this were you personally placed on a hook? All questions that don't have answers based on your description but we know it was enough to make you die on hook so I'll give it to you.

For the second game again how long exactly did it take to get to the Leon before haddie was taken down? Were you working on a gen? Was the other person? Were you both on the same gen? Did you try baiting the hook save to get the unknown to either miss an m1 or a spit? There are honestly a lot of things left to interpretation here.

Solo q is honestly the worst experience in dbd aside from being a killer vs a 4 man 50k hour swf but what you are describing and trying to argue lacks a lot of depth. These plays can't be called as "unfair" or worthy of giving up unless there is more context applied because sometimes it's a really unfair situation, but it can also be an issue on how the survivors handle that scenario since the game has a HUGE snowball effect unlike any I've ever seen.

In short, your question cannot be answered accurately without more information.

  • Ive personally never had an issue with indoor vs outdoor as most of the maps are alright to play in but alot of the indoor maps feel survivor sided

Sure mechanically its straight forward, but if you think gen rushing will stop if tunneling stops or vice versa then you're deluding yourself.

As I said one is not completely causal of the other. Player motivation isn't solely dictated by how quick the game goes.

If a player chooses to focus someone out then they will do that regardless of gen speeds. Same goes for gen rushing. Also players have very broad definitions of "tunneling" and see it everywhere even when its not there. So if a large proportion of "tunneling" is imagined, which it appears to be, then its not as simple as just changing mechanics.

"But if there was no tunneling then you wouldnt feel the need to gen rush that often" Players rush gens even when not being tunneled so you're point isn't accurate.

You are right on one thing simplistic is not the way to describe that statement, facile would be a better term.

The issue with your condescending tone is it's not as spot on as you wanna believe. Yes players are gonna rush objectives regardless, but you're ignoring that there would be an increase in SIDE objectives without an intense rush meta.

If a killer has a power that requires survivors to interact with it in order to stop it (demo, unknown, plague etc) then having less incentive to tunnel a survivor and apply gen pressure will require the survivors to not rush gens and either heal if needed or break the killers metaphorical power line. This would lead to more games on average having a less sweaty and competitive feel for the more casual audience who makes up more of the player base than the top 1% who try to force their balance on the rest of the community as if they aren't playing a whole different game altogether.

By no means did I say that rushing on either end would ever stop but some type of value from not rushing would help more players on average. It's not something you also have to feel the need to get snarky about

The problem with this idea is one thing actually has little to do with the other.

Even if you were safe until all 4 survivors had been hooked once each, players would still try to finish gens as efficiently as possible. They would just take advantage of their new found safe status.

Same goes for if gens lasted 10 mins each, killers would still eliminate survivors as efficiently as they could. Simply taking advantage of the extra time granted.

One is not causal of the other. Thinking they are is a very simplistic view.

It's simplistic because it's not that complicated. If a survivor is being hard tunneled by the killer then alot of the times the best thing to do is finish the objectives.

Now this can also apply to killers who tunnel as having less survivors in the game as soon as possible makes finishing gens more difficult and allows for more pressure.

It's not exactly rocket science and this is essentially the game by design. You just have to play it for what it is

  • But if there was no tunneling then you wouldnt feel the need to gen rush that often

But if were looking for the strongest were not going to be looking at whos easier. Nurse in general is more versatile and her chase is and has been unmatched for years. The reason why shes not picked as much is because she feels clunky to play, and she has a visual bug right now which feels awful.

I also tend to consider the skill level of those killers on average. Nurse players are either subpar or unbeatable since her skill ceiling is so high that most people won't play her that efficiently. Blight has a ceiling but it's not nearly as high so players tend to do better with him on average.

I would of agreed if it wasnt for his recent add on nerfs as well. You see so much Blight and hear lots more about him, but youre reminded who truly has the crown once you go up against a Nurse of the same caliber

Both are still incredibly strong, but I think that the nurse's nerfs have put her slightly below blight since he can be a bit easier to handle by base than the nurse

You seem to confuse killrate with winrate. Game has a 60% KILL RATE

    60% killrate can be two 4k's + EIGHT 2k's. Thats exactly a 60% killrate and a 20% winrate.

Don't know why you see that as a problem, 2 outing 8 games in a row with a killer drawing 8 times in a row

It seems like you expect nearly every game to be a 4k stomp fest for killers. Also there is no proof that this is how things play out. Killers can be winning a lot more than you give them credit for and they seem to be if they are killing at an above average rate. There has to be a way to survive the game otherwise it dies off from being too one sided. It's not as big of a problem as you are making it out to be. It's just a problem for you maybe.

Yes, because if you play against 4 of yourself you will lose. That says something about the balance don't you think?

Killers stomp good survivors all the time. Apparently the game is sitting at a 60/40 win rate in the killers favor. What you are trying to throw out as average is facing a 4 man swf with 1000000 collective hours in the game that are not in every match you play. There is also the rng factor to put in which sets the game up heavily before it even starts.

Their names have transphobic slurs. They only go after me (the only Survivor with the Trans Pride charm). They let the other Survivors escape (suggesting I died really early on).

It’s blatantly obvious that they are targeting me for being trans and using the Trans Pride charm.

Also again, some have left transphobic comments on my profile or harassed me in the post-game, yet again, another blatant thing showing that I was being targeted.

One of the best things I can tell you to do (if you haven't already) is get screen caps of these transphobic slurs that you are receiving. If this is not harassment exclusive to dbd (you did mention they harassed you on your profile but idk if you meant your actual gaming profile or your dbd one) you can screen cap that and report it to your platforms uppers be it steam, psn or Xbox. Again you probably thought of this already but if you haven't done this yet then I highly suggest it as the dbd report system is honestly a joke. I know this doesn't erase what people can do on the game itself but I also encourage you to not take it too much to heart as video games have the same rules as the Internet as a whole and it's a terrible and lawless place. Hope things get better for you

  • For a perk that is only acquired during the endgame, and only once at that, it doesn't need too much of a nerf if any at all. Also it has plenty of more uses other than negating Freddy.

  • @Nick said:

You're talking about tunnel vision. Blindly chasing the first moving object you see at the start of the match. But most people mean getting chased direct off hook, when theyre at their most vulnerable.

As killer you have to play strategic if you want consistent results. You could be the best chaser in the world, but getting 8 hooks before getting a kill every game will make you lose games you easily could've won.

Finding a weak link (or someone in a weak position), and hitting them straight after the unhook or waiting out bt is in many situations very efficient.

Basically killers won't pick on someone their own size

  • This can is a rather subjective and loaded question, but to provide an answer my ideal killer would be one that doesn't have a power like the knights. He can legit down you without a lot of effort on his part. Other killers at least take effort to be good with and reward the player for doing so such as nurse

Balancing at all cost is also killing the fun. Try balancing Nurse power to Trapper without ruining both characters. You can’t.

They don't have to be balanced to each other. They have to be balanced to the survivors

it's not that they cant reach a 50/50, its that the devs dont want to, and for good reason. The game should be favored 60/40 in the killers favor. Sometimes I think survivors keep forgetting that they should not be capable of beating the killer in any kind of 1v1.

Its also easy to forget that for the overwhelming majority of this game, survivors got more love from the devs then killers did. (Day one player here.) For the first time in this games history, the killers are getting a bit more love then survivors, and its lead to kill rates being at the 60/40 rate they should have always been at.

QUite frankly, I think the Devs are nailing it. It took them way to long to get here, but I'm glad this game is finally in a healthy state

What's often forgotten is that this is a video game and not a movie. At its core the game needs to be balanced because that's what makes a video game find success and if you want the "true" experience then there either needs to be a dbd movie or a until dawn type game to truly set that boundary lorewise. Other than that it's still a game and a game needs balance.

  • @Ayodam said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3654275#Comment_3654275

They aren’t shooting for a 50/50 win rate (although they’re near that); they want a 60/40 kill-to-escape rate. If the kill rate falls out of their view of balance they would presumably make changes to bring the numbers back in line with this. That would require buffing survivors in meaningful ways (ways that help survivors escape their trials more).

It's sad that they would rather make the killer impossible to escape from than to make the game balanced enough to where player skill actually came into it, but alas these forums wouldn't need to exist if they did that. I often wonder if the supposed 60/40 split is truly accurate or if it's just a statistic that's been manipulated simply by only looking at certain games or players that would help fit the narrative

  • @Ayodam said:

If the escape rate drops to 35% or lower, I’m sure the devs will in some significant way buff the survivor role.. the same way they bolstered killers to reach a 60% win rate.

The only issue is there is close to no way to make the killer and survivor win rate a 50/50, and it seems like the devs are favoring buffing the killer role in any way they can while essentially ignoring the survivor role for now.

The reason why that specific gif was removed is that it seemed like you were using it to make fun of someone, so please try to avoid using something that can be misunderstood.

    Thank you.

That seems like a really unfair assumption on your end

  • I wouldnt say it's the worst but it does have it's fair amount of toxicity due to the nature of the game and it's general balance which is questionable due to the MMR.

  • Then dont get all the cosmetics? Events are based around playing the game fully which includes both sides. The killer challenges are also not difficult to get since it's just an event tome and the challenges are brain dead

  • As a primary survivor player myself, it's really not asking too much to play a few killer games if you really want to get all those cosmetics

  • This might be one of the worst times to be a new player on either side. Over the years both sides have complained nonstop about anything strong or meta and now what we are left with is the genrush/tunnel meta where everyone seems to be having a bad time, but don't acknowledge that they basically asked for this. Also matchmaking is complete trash

  • Simple. Killers are hard tunneling survivors so survivors are hard tunneling gens with the 2 exhaustion perks that are left viable after several nerfs while self healing has also been nerfed extremely. I guess survivors should just sit somewhere and wait to be killed without chase then to make the killer mains happy

  • The main issue I see is that nerfing swf would ultimately penalize solo q which would hurt the game more than help it. It's also important to note that while swf can give you many advantages it doesn't mean that all those players are good at the game simply because they play together. Alot of times when killers say that they get stomped by swfs it's mainly when it's a 4 man sweat squad with over 30k hours between them all and while this is not fun and not fair to the killer, it shouldn't mean that all survivors should pay the price for the top 1% of the game

I don’t think that’s entirely true, I’ve gone against really bad sadako players and we got a four-man escape many times. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I do agree, though she should be closer to what she used to be.

I don’t agree that she should be exactly like how she used to be. The point of the rework was to make it less frustrating for the killer because she has no anti-loop, no chase, and many other frustrating factors that I won’t go into. The condemn was to keep people moving. A slowdown because her Chase was so bad which I’m OK with not every killer needs to have a power.

    My question to you is, based off your idea, how she was in the past;

“what should be the range of getting a stack condemn when she teleports to a TV?”

I never said she needs to be reverted back to her original form but I do think she needs a slight nerf to the distance of her condemn on teleport. The exact number is difficult to say since maps have differing proportions and there most likely isn't a way to change her by the map but I would say each teleport should cover about 75% of the map. Or they could lessen the amount given when she teleports although I say this is bad since that would weaken her as a whole

  • @MechWarrior3 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3605267#Comment_3605267

so penalize people that are really good at playing her? That seems fair. Let me work really hard on the killer, so somebody can complain and Nerf them, because it took me time to actually get good with that killer. 😅🤷🏼‍♂️

Giving her a slight nerf will not punish the really good players as they already have an idea of what tvs to teleport towards and don't need the added crutch of full map condemn. It's the fact that she can be super effective by bad players that's the issue.

  • @MechWarrior3 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3604791#Comment_3604791

Her power isn’t OP in her current state. Survivors just wait too long to do anything about it until it’s too late and then blame the killer.

Grab a tape at the beginning of the match. You can’t be condemned now. She’s an M1 killer too, so there shouldn’t be an issue.

it’s not hard to get a tape to cleanse especially now with TVs spawns right next to each other.

Survivors just need to learn how to counter her better is all, but they don’t want to so they complain she’s OP.

I'm fully aware of how grabbing tapes works since that's the first thing I do against her, but if she's good at applying pressure then that m1 causes you to drop said tape and then she can quickly apply condemn stacks. If you are really good at onryo she is quite overbearing to deal with

  • Not really. They get plenty of leeway because "survivors are op"

  • @MechWarrior3 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3568106#Comment_3568106

That what she was before, and it wasn’t effective for most onyro players, plus survivors easily ignored her power and TVs.

plus when the gen is done there is no reason to go back to it, so nobody would get condemned in that area. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Then she shouldnt constantly teleport to areas with a completed gen. There is no way that a slight nerf to that range would really make her like she was before. Also, why can't killers be responsible for being better with their chosen killer like survivors are expected to be better than tunneling? Seems like a double standard when they could just make her more fair to go against

  • Considering the big nef to self healing with med kits there should be some type of buff to SC since it's been a dead perk for a while

  • I don't think that's true since some past events show they can be overly punishing. As long as the posts aren't overly vulgar or insulting then I don't see an issue

Can it be they expected P69 instead? I believe you get it...

This must be a rare occurrence as high P usually means killers dodging. Truth be told I do the same if there are 3-4 high P players (closer to 100).

I often play solo queue so alot of times im the highest p in the lobby but that doesn't mean my team can apply gen pressure while the killer tries to remove me. I can't say how much dodging I experience though since I hardly pay any attention to that and I feel like I'm placed as backfill alot

  • Agreed. Sick of killers tunneling me simply because my character is a high prestige and that for some reason means I'm asking to be targeted? Literally had a game where I was tunneled and the killers response was "p67 mikaela doesn't deserve to play the game"

  • I've played against a few that weren't actively playing like wads and they were much easier to deal with once you get the hang of dodging his charge and knowing when to leave a loop you can't see him over since they seem to double back a lot. I will say this might be the worst tunneling new killer I've experienced in a while. Wesker was about the same but he also is a much stronger killer overall imo so it's not necessary to be so sweaty with him. Not that Chucky is a weak killer or anything but the players have really been showcasing why this game is beyond frustrating to play a lot of the time.

  • I actually really like him and think he's a great killer with a surprisingly fun design for this game! However, I will say that as a survivor I've experienced mostly hard tunneling while playing against him and maybe this is where alot of the negatives come from.

    You're comparing apples to oranges.

The survivors are the ones with the active choice of where to lead the chase to aswell as what parts of the map the killer will have no reason to go to.

    Heres an example image :

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/9NMINOSZUJKA/untitled.png

If the survivors decide to do all gens on the top side + middle , killer will have no reason to go up there, hence making 4-5 hooks "non-existant".

the 4 bottom hooks will be the ones most likely to break, now if the bottom left side hook is broken, that whole left side becomes an unhookable safe zone for survivors trough no fault of the killer.

You're also assuming the killer is just letting all the gens at the top get done without much of a fight. Also killers can still manage their hooks to an extent just like survivors can think about gen placement and completion. The killer is not entirely a victim in this format

  • @Hensen2100 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3596007#Comment_3596007

Lol, yeah except that there's tons of maps where an entire area has 1 hook. And then SWFs know that and will run to that area when they are gonna go down, even when the game is over to waste 4 minutes of your time. This "Just manage your hooks" argument is kind of a joke tbh

Can you say the same for 3 gen tho? Its commonly stated that it's on the survivors if they allow the gens to pop too close together and be stuck in a 3 gen which is basically punishment for doing the objectives but it can't be on the killer to manage where they hook the survivors? I agree that the OP's situation is unfair but it's not common enough to warrant blindly throwing hooks around without consideration for placements after someone dies

  • @Reinami said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3595964#Comment_3595964

The problem is, this only matters in this situation. Where the game is already over. Its not like its destroyed everytime you hook someone, and the mechanic exists for that purpose. By the time you end up in this situation, the game is already over. It is extremely extremely rare where it happens mid match in a way where it is beneficial to the survivor as a "strategy"

Yeah I can't say I have seen a lot of this scenario but the only solution I can come up with to avoid it is spacing out the hooks the same way you should space out gens

  • This is a really unfortunate circumstance, however I imagine you're supposed to spread out hooks like survivors are supposed to spread out gens to avoid 3 genning but instead of gens it's spacing out hooks so you aren't left in these scenarios.

  • @Thusly_Boned said:

Well that's not even remotely true. I do it, I have friends that do it, and as a surv I encounter killers who do it with some frequency. The killer base isn't some sweaty monolith. Hell, when you get down to it anytime a killer doesn't slug for the 4K, they're essentially saying they're okay with at least one surv getting out (as they should).

There are tons of wholesome killers out there.

But anyways, on to the question:

    1. I'll let a surv (or two) go if their teammates are actively throwing and/or acting the fool (including sandbagging). If there's a three man and they are stiffing the rando, I'm going to try to make sure the rando gets out and the others don't.
    2. While much less likely than before bots, I'll often let a surv(s) go if they have a teammate or more DC or suicide on hook early in the match. Before bots, I almost always did.
    3. I'll sometimes let a surv go if they were really good and their teammates were total potatoes (i.e. a matchmaking victim)
    4. If two survs are left in an "unwinnable" situation, and one is still working on objectives while the other is hiding/scumming for hatch, I will almost always give every effort to track down/kill the latter and let the former go. I hate that isht as a surv, and I bring it to my killer play.
    5. If I find the last surv trying to open the exit gate and they offer up their item, it's a coin flip. Unless it's an Ace; all Aces must die. I hate their smug faces.

I've seen plenty of sweaty killers that don't have to slug for the 4k so that's not entirely true, I've also rarely seen killers let survivors go due to faults of their teammates since that happens all the time in solo q so I would love to play with those killers. Not even every killer I face is necessarily sweating but they also don't seem to pass on the opportunity to get the 4k if it's easy enough. Glad your experience sounds better than mine

Of course I'm a nobody to you. That's why you write your super long responses to me. Perhaps I'm just making assumptions sort of like how you did when you said that you think all the players describing how they let people go are just 'describing the one time and that's it' instead of taking what they said at face value and in good faith. Your initial post was mistaken; no need to try to double down so much.

It's not mistaken and I stand by everything I said. Your replies haven't exactly been short and sweet you know so idk why you're acting all high and mighty. I also never stated that survivors are never let go, just that it doesn't happen as often as you want to act like it does in the average joe life of dbd. Maybe you can try not taking everything at face value but it's fine; everybody makes mistakes

  • @TheSubstitute said:

I'm simply stating facts instead of trying to rewrite the narrative. Did you say or not say 'you're possibly the only Killer on these forums to do that' as you wrote on your first post. You then became defensive since I pointed out how wrong you were.

If you were familiar with the forums and not trying to do an 'us vs them' then you would have recognized that the OP's question has been asked multiple times before and each time multiple people stated they do let survivors go and under what circumstances.

I never said most Killers but it happens enough that I suspect the only people that don't see it occasionally are also the same people who BM the Killer at every pallet and just try to be obnoxious. If that's the case improving your attitude might help you.

You certainly like to sit and make assumptions as if you are some type of all knowing higher being. Again it's not an "us vs them" because it's not really that deep so chill TF out first of all. Secondly, I do NOT bm killers at all so get that thought out of your head because you do not have a clue what you are talking about.

If by defensive you mean I don't take any nonsense from a complete stranger on some online forums trying to act as if they are the rep for "killers out for kindness" then I guess I have a big ole tortoise shell on my back since you are in no position to act this way towards me in any capacity since you are quite literally nobody to me. If you knew anything about the forums then you would know that anything on them is not representative of the average gaming experience because the forums are extremely bias at the best of times and a complete joke at the worst. It's not unrealistic to not experience something that actually belongs at a much lower MMR since being a competent looper often makes you a target since killers hate being outplayed.

Learn some actual facts about me before you start trying to accuse me of being any type of way because you do not know me in any way shape or form to be telling me what I need to improve on or what I'm doing.

You're precluding the experiences of everyone else. You didn’t say 'that doesn't happen to me'. You said the poster was the only Killer and then people proceeded to prove you wrong.

What people lol you're the only one here acting all condescending simply because you can't understand that this idea of being let go is not common in killer vs survivor game setting. I wish I had a ladder tall enough for the amount of reaching you're doing

Keep in mind that many hundreds of killers can let people go all the time and you'll never notice it, because that's still a tiny percentage of the playerbase.

Also you must see that such killers are highly over-represented in this thread, as people who don't do that won't stop to say 'I don't do that'.

I don't doubt that there are killers who will allow for the last survivor to escape for any number of reasons, but in my own experience playing the game over the last several years I can say that this is not something that happens often.

Now I will say I play solo q alot and it could be that a teammate or two of mine have been giving the killer a hard time so that can also be a factor on why this isnt something ive seen alot of. Killers also seem to get mad at me for pallet stuns alot which is whatever but I notice that my fate is sealed when the first pallet hits their head.

Reread your first post. You literally stated something that was biased and objectively untrue.

Maybe you need to reread. Saying something that happens when it does is not making anything "us vs them" it's stating that the idea of a killer letting survivors go is ridiculous and it is since it never happens in a real setting. It's not bias to say my own experiences
