I'm not the one doing an inaccurate us versus them. It's okay; people make mistakes.

How is what I said an us vs them when it's the average experience of players. I didnt say anything about us vs them lol nice try rewriting narratives

  • Projection sounds like a well learned skill of yours

Says this. Over a dozen people then describe how they let survivors go.

Descriptions don't take away from actual game experiences. I do not play with any of the 1% of killers you're describing since it's not exactly a common thread for killers to let survivors go. Also I don't believe that all these posts just consistently let survivors go and are probably just saying the one time tht did as if they do it all the time. Don't get smart with me

  • You are possibly the only killer on this forum who actually has the mentality of letting survivors go at any point for any reason. Most killers just resort to tunneling at 5 gens and being as annoying as possible in making sure nobody gets away

  • Speaking from my own experiences (this might be a minority take) I typically only engage in such behavior if it feels like the killer has been giving it themselves (obvious tunneling, camping, nodding in the way we all know is tryna be toxic and of course face slugging) other than that I will gladly take the escape since there is no reason to stick around since the possibility of death remains there as long as you are in the trial.

  • Another reason prestige levels need to be hidden. Killers all assume they know what they are getting just by a number

  • Short answer: you don't stop it. Killers are gonna play this way regardless because it's a technique thats been around since the beginning of dbd and the devs don't see it as an issue and seem to actually encourage the gameplay style. If you hate it that badly don't play dbd since it's built on gimmicks and exploits like this

  • @dbdthegame said:

"Killers playing to win is toxic"

I run into a lot of survivors with this mentality, who feel justified in bagging at exit gate because I *gasp* tunneled at 2 gens left with a C tier killer. So then, I'll make a point of playing Blight and tunneling at 5 gens for the remainder of my play session. And that's still not toxic.

The sooner survivor get it through their heads that killers are allowed to win too, the faster we'll get a better community.

You just try to put all of dbds toxicity on one side when it's on everyone to quit being toxic including the killers. Yes killers are quite toxic alot of the time too. Tunneling is not toxic by default, but you cannot sit here and act like there aren't killers blatantly tunneling at 5 gens just to be toxic. It happens just as often as tbagging at the exit gate which can also really mean "ggs" by a survivor. Let's try to take responsibility for our own shortcomings if we wanna try pinning blame on someone else

  • Let's just erase all survivor perks and items and just give killers free wins like tcm lol. Seriously tho is there any point where there can be a "meta" without tears?

Run UW on either swamp map and come back to me about how lockers are plentiful.

The 30 second radius after opening a locker will take care of that. Also maps and RNG can be either harmful or helpful to anyone regardless of using UW or something else

  • Those of you defending UW show what side you play and how biased you are. Both these perks are problematic because neither requires any real effort. You can't justify searching a locker and having a scream effect in your terror radius for 30 seconds and try to consider that better than MFT. Lockers are more than plentiful on maps and it's not a big time frame to open one and get info on anywhere from 2-4 survivors at a time. Seriously y'all need to learn that everything goes both ways and if you wanna cry MFT is busted (which it is) go ahead, but you aren't entitled to acting as if UW isn't just as problematic.

  • While I can see the argument you wanna make, this is not the best way to make it. Yes the game was way different in 2016 but any game that has lasted as long as dbd is going to look VERY different 7 years down the line due to the addition of new killers and survivors and, more importantly, their perks. Also nobody knew how to play in 2016 for a good while and it took some time before it became a huge competitive scene. I will say many of the changes have been for the better they just dont always make all the necessary changes at the same time

  • @MaddieMage said:

Seriously. People complain MFT is unfair because all it takes is “being hurt” while Ultimate Weapon takes nothing but opening a locker. Every one minute the killer can simply open and locker and know where you are and it works for 30 seconds with only a 30 second cooldown.

The idea of the perk is not a bad one but it needs a serious rework. It should really activate when the killer opens a locker within a certain range from the survivors.

  • WoO doesn't need a nerf so enough of that. I do agree about the rest and they should add ultimate weapon to the list since I'm tired of being forced to use calm spirit to counter a perk thats basically free hunting

  • While I love the idea of having a big bang final release there are a few reasons I think this won't happen

    1) the entity is mysterious and often seen as the player in the "grand scheme"

    2) I feel like this game will sorta just end and not make it a big deal since they most likely won't know it's the end if that makes sense. The game has been so big for so long that it'll most likely end due to behind the scenes issues and not at the hand of bhvr themselves

  • In the 1-2 gen time it took to down said survivor you could always just drop chase and put pressure elsewhere. Alot of times killers will really try to down one person without really considering when it's optimal to leave the chase and putting pressure elsewhere. The perk combo is really powerful tho and a bit of an exploit in a way that doesn't allow for much counterplay against swfs but maybe switching chase when it's not a quick enough down to add more pressure.

  • I agree with wanting to play it chill during the event, but I think this is just the experience of dbd overall. Personally I've seen more killers sweat through but I believe that plenty of swfs are having a great time exploiting the void and taking full advantage of a killer trying to participate in the event by rushing to endgame like there's a $50k prize for the quad escape. Honestly this event is great but the community has grown so bad that it's not all that enjoyable anymore

  • For survivor: Mikaela because goth witch with added sprinkles of jake and Felix since they are daddies (although yoichis new outfit make him look quite nice 😏)

For killer: trickster also because daddy af but the killer I'm actually good with is wraith and that's just the cloak

Same. I go against many killers who ignore the person unhooked and chase the unhooker. They usually get 4K, and yanno, it's actually a solid match.

Sometimes they don't even bother with the two people at the hook and they are busy getting survivors off gens, they still win. Those killers are pretty rad.

At this point it's a very mixed bag between skill gaps and the ever present moaning of the MMR that matches people with the wrong games often

  • It always seems to be the fault of everyone but the killers when it comes to why they can't secure any kills and have to resort to cheap tactics. I see killers get 3-4k all the time without tunneling or camping really (proxy doesn't count since it's not exactly camping still) and this can apply to most killers on the roster. You win some and you lose some. Everyone needs to start getting that

  • Personally I think just her map wide condemned when teleporting should just have a smaller range. If she's teleporting to a gen that's being worked on then anyone within x meters should get a stack of condemn instead of allowing her to spam it on everyone with no real skill. A simple nerf like that will help her stay powerful while also forcing her to actually strategize her power

  • These are some pretty fair changes if you ask me. Hexes for sure need some type of oversight as they have been really downplayed by many of the games updates over the years

  • She is a bit much at the moment but I don't think that she was unwarranted in getting a buff since her chase game and overall kit were lacking compared to other killers

I agree with you that the effectiveness is dependant on the survivors. The amount of time spent slugged is something I leave up to the team's altrusim and bleedouts are rare if not a result of many many downs. Fortunately for most teams this playstyle allows them to correct focus if team altruism is lacking and adapt.

I will say if you were handling top tier survivors then you would probably leave with maybe a 1k at best depending on how hard you proxy the slug

  • If this works for you then the survivors are letting it. Not that im condoning anything, but if a killer is simply slugging and not hooking at all then there is a counterplay for that and slugging all 4 at the same time is incredibly rare and if you are literally looking at 4 downed survivors than you sir might actually be the problem

  • Sounds like you got played at a window and expect the devs to accommodate you by adding a window nerf. Real classy

Sure then you have 8 seconds, but now you have 3 survivors involved in healing, which now makes it as efficient as using a medkit for 24 seconds, you realize that right?

8 seconds that are over and done and now all 3 of you can start a gen? Or do you wanna wait for that guy healing himself in the corner before you stack gens on a high pressure blight or wesker? You realize that everything in this game is situational right?

Well they have done some in the past. The end game collapse changed the entire end game gameplay. It was simply a timer.

They could just add stuff and not do a complete rework. But yeah it takes extra effort which I doubt they'd do.

I see alot of people begging for change, saying things are stale. It would be nice if the devs stopped adding more survivors and killers to dump points into and instead focus on game changes and perk changes.

Like, pause on content and try out some interesting gameplay additions and perk reworks. But they won't. I fear adding chapters is the only way they can keep getting money needed to keep going idk.

I'm not sure what higher ups are in charge but they are mainly the ones who keep bhvr pushing out too much content. This happens alot with games in general. The sims 4 is pushed by EA despite multiple glitches and bad game design, mortal Kombat is fun but released in a clearly unfinished state and I'm sure WB doesn't allow them much fixing time as opposed to pushing out new content. Alot of games like this that have been going for several years have an issue with spaghetti coding that cant really be fixed without completely eviscerating the game mechanics and reworking them

I'm speaking in terms of gen rushing. Oh believe me I know killers do it to. Its just unreasonable to think people will go onto matches In an survivor vs killer game and not want to win. Everyone wants to perform well and win.

To survivors it seems they think escapes is a win when in reality it's points at the end game. You'll never be able to convince the entire player base to stop trying so hard. I'm just saying the only logical approach is to change up the tasks. Include things other then "sit on gen". Imo, that's the only real way slow down speeds. But if they do add something for survivor then they have to equally add more for.killer to keep the game balanced.

Which really cannot be done without a complete rework that the devs aren't interested in doing because they don't have to. Everyone can also perform well without actually escaping. Even if I don't escape I still do better than a lot of lazy teammates that do so in the end it feels more like a win for me than for them.

They are still more efficient than healing with two survivors we have 24 seconds for one person VS 16 seconds for two...

Less if you have 2 survivors healing you. You know teamwork?

med kits are still very strong. I pack a double charged one with me every match.

Med kits are not nearly as powerful without the right add ons and you can't even heal yourself efficiently anymore since the kit literally uses more charges to heal you than it does for someone else. The thing is I get wanting to nerf them but they nerfed them so hard that they aren't all that usable anymore. Toolboxes will remain the meta until they get gutted as well

  • @XshyguyX said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3559176#Comment_3559176

Thing about this tho, stop being competitive and do what? That's the issue. That's all the survivors have to do aside from totems.

The games design needs a tweak. Either add more objectives or diversions in the match to gain extra bloodpoints.

I don't blame the survivors for wanting to do the gens as fast as they can so much as the design of the game.

The devs give survivors all these boosting tools and perks to use and killers sweat so hard they end up to stressed to enjoy themselves. They either quit, or divert to gross tactics which in turn damper everyone's fun.

You speak as if survivor is the only side that has gameplay mechanics like that. Killers have all sorts of annoying things to play when they have the chance. Slowdown perks are still pretty good in most cases, I've actually been seeing pentimento alot lately and it's quite annoying once you reach the point of gen/heal slowdown and ultimate weapon seems like the killer equivalent to MFT. Also why can't the killers also not play as sweaty and competitive? I agree that it's bad game design but literally all of y'all can pitch in at making this game more enjoyable and not sweaty like it's a $10k prize at an esports event

  • Another thing that happens a lot is the killer will still take a free win and kill everyone as they try and rat out the toxic survivor. In my experience killers only want the win and the kills and don't really care about decency or courtesy. This is a really nice idea tho

  • @Seraphor said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3559051#Comment_3559051

Yeah I've often found that the speed the first 2-3 gens are done is fairly inconsequential.

I've had a lot of games where the first few gens pop fast, but then survivors are constantly playing catch up because they left that first hook rescue too late and now I've got momentum and they can't keep up with the heals.

Direct pressure, in the form of downing and hooking survivors fast enough, and being physically present at a gen, is always far more impactful than any slowdown perks or gen speed nerfs.

I do think something needs to be done about commodious toolboxes though. For one it doesn't make sense for a green to be better than a purple. But also, the existence of multiple stacking layers of a given mechanic is what makes high coordination from SWF so much more impactful. Coordination + gen perks + toolboxes is exponentially more efficient. So a gentle toolbox nerf (or a rework entirely but that's another topic) would go a long way.

Since the big med kit nerf, toolboxes are really the only viable item to use now. Keys have been gutted for a long time and maps are useful for very specific objectives.

Playing efficient is simply not fun for the other side and our community is extremely competitive. While the devs still consider it a party game.

Is it possible y'all could stop being so competitive? Maybe that would help the toxic feelings you all get from the game.

  • NOED no longer activates when the end game collapse starts

  • Wesker. He's really annoying to go against and most of the players that use him act very toxic.

  • While I agree that solo gets back burner treatment, you can always run kindred as a counter and it's a really slept on perk especially for solo survivors.

  • Can you bring an actual argument other than "this needs nerfing because I can't slug!" Because it really sounds like one of the entitlement posts about MFT.

  • The game shouldn't be sided to either. It should be a 50/50. Yes lorewise killers are supposed to be the power role and all but this is a game and not a show or movie so there needs to be enough balance on both sides to handle it.

  • Ah yes the age old idea that survivors are the only issue with the game lol. Imagine if facecamping and tunneling off hook wasn't a thing then we could not have haste and endurance off hit. This is one example but we don't need a paragraph to know you're reaching :)

  • Of course everyone is gonna say a killer rework that removes the ability to hold a 3 gen will be bad. People get too adjusted to a certain playstyle or meta and when that is taken away or shaken up you hear outcries

  • Megan fox as Kate because dumb hot chick

  • @Lobos said:

Whoops, sometimes I forget I'm old, Thank you! I also live under a rock and the cell reception is bad. And that's why Made For This should only lose the endurance part of the perk and nothing else if it does receive a nerf!

Am I up to speed now? (Get it!?) 😃

You may not be the youngest but you are the most wise

  • While I can understand your concern and frustration, this is a natural part of inflation. The skins are added to compensate for the need to increase prices which is honestly a kudos to bhvr since many other larger game companies have no problem simply upping the cost without adding anything extra to the game. And if they do be prepared to pay more money for that add on. Similar to how new games on current gen consoles start off at $70 instead of the long time $60 and before that even it was $50. Games are quite lucrative but at least they are trying to give us something extra to compensate

  • @Lobos said:

If you are a killer main and already win half your trials, or more, what gives you the right to ask for global survivor nerfs or completely removing a good perk? Seems like what you all really want is to win 100% of the time with no counterplay available to your opponents.

A killer winning 50% of their games is PERFECT balance! You win some, you lose some. That's how PvP games work..

You didn't know that dbd law states that all killers must have nothing but winning matches simply because they showed up? My guy get with the times

What does testing the effect of the perk in a micro setting have to do with the performance of the perk in a micro setting? That's a tough one... Let me think about it and I'll get back to you.

That's not a test it's rigged. Dbd is not designed to be played with only one side having perks and you are fully aware of that so idk why you're getting at this angle for no real reason

  • @dbdthegame said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3553684#Comment_3553684

I have a pretty easy way to show that MFT is overperforming. Let's hop in a 1v1, you and me. Trapper, no perks, in Coal Tower. You can use any exhaustion perk you want+resi, I'll use MFT and resi. I'm a killer main, so it should be fairly simple for you to win.

What does having a trapper with no perks have to do with MFT being broken? If you can't handle discussion then why did you make the post? You've lost me at this point

  • @dbdthegame said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3553632#Comment_3553632

You seem to misunderstand what I meant to say when I said your entire post was personal. My point is, even if I announced loud and proud that I'm the most biased killer main in existence, if you dismiss my arguments as "well you're biased so you're wrong!", you're arguing in bad faith. Attack the argument, not the character.

Is it possible for a game, hypothetically, to be perfectly balanced, aside from one notoriously unbalanced mechanic that entirely throws that off? The answer is evidently yes. DBD isn't perfectly balanced by any means, but MFT spits in the face of any pretension of balance and puts all the chips on the survivor's side. There is no excuse for this perk to continue to exist.

Actually, MFT pairs quite well with a lot of exhaustion perks. Because while it doesn't work when EXHAUSTED, it works all the way up UNTIL you are exhausted. What does this mean? Well, it means that you can essentially loop until your MFT luck runs out, and then use your exhaustion perk for a quick bail out and a chase extension. It especially pairs well with Dead Hard because both activate while injured.

Why do you use the term "held hostage" here? What or who is being held hostage, and how? I'm not asking for comp limitations to be placed in regular gameplay; I'm simply asking for regular gameplay to not be oversaturated with overpowered perks like MFT and FTP+BU.

I've already addressed the whataboutism enough, I'm not gonna address anymore of it. We're discussing MFT, bringing up Bloodlust, or killers you don't like, or other qualms you may have with the game has no place in this conversation.

Also, can I ask that you please start using paragraphs? Reading your posts hurts my eyes.

I don't know what else to tell you or what it is you want from this conversation then. Ive said what I need to say in regards to MFT and how it's not the overly busted perk you are trying to claim. I'm not the only one who thinks so as you can tell from above responses. I'm not saying you're wrong because you are bias I'm saying you're wrong because the perk is not nearly as problematic as you are trying to say. Also when Myers is able to mori healthy, unhooked survivors then MFTs "brokenness" is more than warranted in such states. Maybe that's why they added the perk? It's not as simple as "this is wrong because I don't like it" argument thats getting thrown about. If it hurts your eyes boo get them checked since mine are doing just fine over here :)

  • @dbdthegame said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3553550#Comment_3553550

You're making an awful lot of assumptions about me there. But that's okay.

DBD is really not that unbalanced anymore. If this was 3-4 years ago, sure. But not so much anymore. There is actually a fair resemblance of balance in DBD, and it can be fine tuned by picking certain maps for certain killers and placing certain limits on perks/addons/items - you know - exactly what comp does.

Do you have any arguments in defense of MFT specifically or do you just not like me personally?

This may be hard for you to believe but it's not personally about you :) if I'm making assumptions it's based on what you have told me already. Since you brought it up, if the game is doing so well balance wise then how come you made this post to complain about one perk? My exact argument is that if the game is in it's most balanced of states then how can one perk be such a hindrance to that? By that definition it is not balanced if this one perk causes so much grief as you say it does. MFT may have a speed boost but you also forget that it doesn't work while exhausted which means it doesn't pair off the best with an exhaustion perk. Exhaustion perks are the universal second chance perks to survivors and without them the actual player has to have good map awareness and player skill. Where it sounds like you're playing is the p100 arena where everyone plays as if their mother is being held hostage and her survival depends on you winning this game of dbd. If comp places limitations than that is on them for trying to play comp in a game that's not built for that level of competitive play. Bloodlust is a thing and so is the killer you have as your portrait. I'll say don't slug again but you can scroll up if you want the full reasoning behind it. Maybe you can try lowering your own MMR so you aren't placed in bad crowds with these types of players who are overall unhealthy for the games balance to begin with.
