It's not that we aren't looking, it's just that we cannot possibly respond to every post. There's far too much going on for that.
Ultrawide support is on the to-do list, but we don't have any ETA. It would likely have to be pillarboxed since extending the FOV to cover the entire screen would give you a clear advantage over a typical 16:9 screen. Other changes will take priority over this, however, since only a small number of people are using ultrawide monitors. When we have to decide between a feature that would benefit everybody and a feature that would benefit a few people, we would rather focus on the thing that improves the game for everyone.
That's not to say it won't ever happen, but there's things we'd rather focus on for the time being.
I know this is an old post but I didn't want to create ANOTHER 21:9 thread asking for the same thing.
We have a broken 21:9 support and I just bought an Ultrawide monitor that I love.. DBD is the only game where 21:9 is broken and difficult to fix to play this game.
We need an option still to be able to play the game in 21:9 full screen, but have black borders on the left and right of the screen (even though I don't agree with the FOV reason. If they added an FOV slider to the game and got rid of the FOV perks they could easily do it. They've reworked so many addons and killers and perks lately that it is totally feasable right now.)
I am praying and hoping that they add proper 21:9 support by not forcing us to have to change our desktop resolution to 16:9 just to play this game, make it so we have the same FOV as everyone else and make black bars on the sides of the screen in fullscreen. Then eventually get rid of the FOV perks, create an FOV slider, and let us use proper 21:9 in this game. FOV with an ultrawide is not even an advantage, it's barely noticeable when you actually play games on ultrawide in the same FOV as other players.

What sucks even more is people like me who are just starting the second section of challenges has to hook 2 people in the basement at the same time.. That's got to be obnoxious.

Give it a shot. Now that they have this system of marking accounts with earned items maybe you'll get on a list or something :)
ooof, I did write support a message but they gave me an automated response basically saying 'We can now tell who got the items during the events so anyone who lost them will be receiving them soon', that was all. :(

You can say whatever you like, but many points I bring up for discussion are valid to many people.
Whiny or not ;)
Edit: It's kind of nice that I'm well known enough at this point to even have a track record lol
Some people like to be well known on forums, I guess.

I've come to the conclusion that the more we complain, the more he will be nerfed. It's a punishment for how harsh people are on the devs. "Another legion complaint thread, let's see how they like no perk synergy. That should teach them some respect."
I think that is true, everyone seems to have complained so much about Spirit that they nerfed her just to make the complaining go away.
Anytime I play solo survivor and a Legion pops up, 1-2 people d/c as soon as they realize it's Legion.. that's fun. That just happened tonight even post disconnect punishments.

I have the cosmetics and I still believe they should be given out. The majority of games I remember from that event were people farming them anyway because the events were ruining games with how they were set up.
I'm doubtful the majority of the people who own these cosmetics equip them aside from the Huntress mask. Would be nice to see more of them out there to see a higher chance of seeing them in game. What ever though.
I was all for them giving them out considering I just wanted my Pro-Pain hammer that I missed since I wasn't playing the game as much and it was a Killer side grind that I hated. Seems they backed out because people complained too much.

People EARNED that mask when the game was absolute dogshit as killer. I don't think I deserve that mask and neither do you.
Tbh it wasn't too difficult to get that mask during that time since even I have it and I never play Killer. If you were at low ranks you just starting smacking a hook until the survivors understood what you wanted and you all worked together so they could get their generators finished and they'd let you get all the hooks you needed.
At least that's how I did it and remember many others doing it. Probably why they don't do the events that way anymore, it would just become a giant clustertruck of people not actually doing objectives but farming together to complete their event stuff.

So people complained until the devs didn't give out the cosmetics? Jesus christ this community is a bunch of babies.
That's how I feel about the recent Spirit nerfs. Basically people complained enough about her instead of learning how to counterplay, so they just gave in and gave her every nerf people were asking for.

@Hex_Stalk well shucks. I already had those cosmetics. But DBD bugged my game and deleted my past event comsetics. I guess I won't be getting them back after all. =<
I think you have to try sending in a support ticket and now they should be able to tell whether you actually got them or not from a past event, or at least that's what I've read.
-
I am not a fan of the new ranking up system either not throwing people back farther. I can't see myself wanting to play Killer all that much if eventually I will be stuck in Red/Purple ranks unless I stop playing for months at a time.
-
So they gave everyone all the expensive cosmetics being sold on Ebay but they didn't give us the event cosmetics? I earned all of the event cosmetics but the only one I didn't get was the Pro-Pain cosmetic.. so kind of disappointed about that.

Copying from a thread I posted in accidentally about Nurse Changes:
I'm not a fan of the blink nurse changes, but I do like the addon changes. I think that you now have to wait until the nurse's blinks recharge is a bit redundant. Just keep her blinks the way they are so she plays the same, but change her addons.. why can't we do that?
I want to also ask how are we going to get the "From the void she kills" achievement where you have to blink 3 times and grab a survivor if they change her blinks ability around? Seems like they need to keep 3 blinks in the game in order to keep that achievement, or change the achievement to reflect the changes. Or remove it from the game.
Why not just increase her fatigue a tiny bit after her blinks, and also change her addons?
All of these blink changes seem really unnecessary. Instead of changing a ton of things at once, change like her addons first, see how it goes and then wait a bit before making more changes..
It seems like their whole philosophy with making changes is Throw everyone at something to finish it quickly, then don't touch it again for a year.
So basically they're changing everything for the Nurse they have an idea to change, and then throwing her out there to see what sticks instead of making slightly changes, slowly.

I'm actually very curious if the developers could elaborate what the headphones option does when it's turned on and off in the options. Really wish there was some more options for audio that they could add. They don't need to allow us to change the in-game music volume during chases (though I think most people seemed to like when the music was gone for a brief period as killer) but maybe a tooltip when mousing over the Headphones option?
Also does anyone know what AudioQuality=0, 1, 2 does in the config file?

Not just yet. These are the next steps once dedicated servers fully launch.
I think you guys should copy Overwatch when it comes to disconnection mechanics.
If a person disconnects whether on purpose or on accident, make it so the next 1-2 matches they play have -50% or -75% bloodpoint XP until they finish their next match.
This would deter people from disconnecting but also not ban people for disconnecting on accident (due to this d/c bug I've been experiencing where I have disconnected more randomly in the past couple weeks than I have in the last couple years of playing).
So if you d/c once, you will get -50% bp for one match, if you d/c more than once in a certain time period you will get -75% bp for a couple matches, or as much as you wanted to put it.
I saw Overwatch do it after I d/c'd from a match and realized, this would be a great mechanic for DBD if they ever listened to their community, lol.

No I didn’t, I was telling you that the exposed effect is not meant to effect her ambush anymore so it was a bug, your play time doesn’t change that.
It sucks because I feel your pain. I used to love playing the Pig and she was one of the first killers I leveled up to max right away, but after her nerfs I just don't feel the urge to play her ever anymore. The fact that Survivors couldn't escape at the end without taking off their traps (unless they found the hatch which is fair game) just made her unique and fun to play.
Now it seems like anytime they don't like the way another killer looks at them they nerf the Pig as punishment.
@FireHazard said:
I have to agree that Pig hasn't gotten the best updates outside the gate when the DLC dropped, and following after...
But by no means is she bad, shes actually very good at wasting Survivors time in a Trial when effectively using her. The RBTs (Reverse Bear Traps) can be used as a catalyst to not focus on killing them... but to waste their time removing them.
I have a build focused on capitalizing on Survivors wasting time getting the RBT off, and lemme tell you, it works wonders. Especially with Pop goes the Weasel, this perk will regress gens heavily when you hook a Survivor with a RBT, and keep it regressing until they take it off and go back to said gen.
Idk how many times I've done this where Survivors just waste so much time getting a RBT off while the gen they had at 80% or something went back to 20%/10%0% its honestly crazy... Ruin + Pop goes the Weasel on Pig is a god tier combo, the other two can honestly be anything... BBQ, Brutal Strength, Surveillance to keep track of gens, Surge, Overcharge, anything really that focuses on regressing gens.
Also I remember when pig first came out and one of her challenges was getting a head pop and I actually managed to get one and finish that daily challenge.. I really wish there was a legacy achievement or some bonus for getting that before it was removed. I felt pretty accomplished for something I had nothing to do with but was still incredibly hard to do, haha.

Bonus points if you can elaborate on how keeping themselves in low ranked play where they win more, farm more BP, and have much more fun is not what they should be doing as opposed to moving towards rank 1 and doing the opposite in all three of the aforementioned.
Survivors gain something by moving up ranks in so far as having better teammates. Killers gain absolutely nothing.
Entirely possible one of the people in my group has intentionally deranked but it's not something I like to do. I like to get to the higher ranks but usually I don't play the game enough every month to get that high anymore.
Usually I find it funner to watch the game being played on YT these days which maybe says something about the state of the game.
But I agree that Survivors USUALLY gain something with getting better teammates as they get higher in ranks. Sadly Killers just gain more stress and anxiety the higher up they play.
Why I'm kind of excited to go back to playing Killer now that I've reset back to Rank 20 after so many months because I know it will be fun and not a complete stress-fest.

We really can't add any more time to the gens. People already complain about m1 simulator, (while afking on the gen and playing survivor 2000+ hours, *cough*). It is still a good point though, we need a secondary objective or something baked in baseline for killers like CI, or something that slows down the beginning of the game where you're essentially at your weakest. The time you take searching is valuable time wasted, even more so for set-up killers. The hard part is figuring out that extension to the game, that doesn't break it and is fun for both sides.
Would me nice if there WAS a secondary objective, like a tombstone or totem or two that spawned on the map you needed to find at the end of all gens being completed before like a boney gate blocking the exit switches would break.. just something creative to increase game time just a tad, which could be added to the game once you get above a certain rank like 10.
Just throwing out ideas there.

One chase, 3 gens. Even if I had found Claud, or dropped trying to look for her I'd still have lost 3 gens minimum before getting a single hook. Of course after this I was told to just apply pressure, how easy the game was, etc, etc. Please, explain to me how I was supposed to pressure those gens, and keep up the chase, and somehow prevent them from doing that within the first minute?
Also, before anyone says it, don't say just run Ruin. That wouldn't solve anything. Every time I have run ruin it blows at the beginning of the match, or the gens pop anyway cuz they're not rank 20s who can't hit skillchecks. I get that Legion is arguably one of the worst killers in the game now due to the pitiful "rework" but I don't think any killer outside of maybe Nurse or Billy would've done anything here. Even then plenty of safe pallets and loops so I still probably would've had a rough time.
Notice how that was the first instinct, just run to the pallet. Some didn't even try to run the loop, just sat at the pallets, not on the end to extend the chase. What I can do then? Nothing, I can eat the pallet, or run after you. There is nothing I can do in that situation, I just lose. I can't even catch up to anyone. I played the second Frenzy badly cuz for some reason my game was running sluggish and I haven't played them in a while so that's on me, but there's just nothing I could do in this match.
Yet I'm told constantly told how easy killer is, how op killers are including Legion. How hard it is to play survivor. I don't get how afking and holding m1 is difficult. Especially when you get a good runner. Of course I'll probably get flamed, and this'll be ignored by the devs cuz, "It's just them doing their objective." Funny enough they complained about me camping their friend end-game like I had a choice.
I don't get why survivors think they're slick waving and taunting, I'm not leaving when gates are powered. You come get your friend, or I'm camping them to death. I have no other objectives to defend and I'm not risking you running out the gate or looping me while the others save. Don't even try.
No, I don't want free wins, I don't want easy games. I want to feel like I have a chance to play the game. I either play like a complete #########, or I just lose all my gens and get no points/emblems while being told how easy the game is, and how bad I am. Killers are supposed to be the power role, don't get how it's going on 3 years now and people STILL cannot seem to grasp that concept, but oh well.
I was thinking the other day maybe if they just added 30 seconds to a minute to the time to do every gen it would make the game just a LITTLE bit better for everyone. But meh, just required to bring Hex: Ruin every game, waste a perk slot, and pray that a survivor doesn't spawn on top of it.

I could run NOED, but I'd honestly really rather not. I have no issues with it, but I still don't like it.
I'm sorry but I don't think the point of NOED is to punish gen rushing. I think the point of NOED is to ensure you don't learn the killer and can basically get multiple kills very easily at the end of a match without any effort. Most of the time anyway.

Yeah, if you wanna try out another build though that might help, just refer to the post I made before this one, it might actually help slow the game down.
I was disappointed you didn't add Monto's 'Just a little bit' at the end of that last sentence.

They need a better tutorial, something that teaches killers about pressuring gens. Something that suggests focusing on hooking more survivors is usually better than focusing on killing one survivor. Pressure gens, spread the pain, keep them all on their toes. But there's nothing in the game to teach that.
Not having a tutorial that teaches tactics for killers and survivors makes having matchmaking that keeps new players grouped with other new players a priority. No in-depth tutorial on top of broken matchmaking means new players are pretty much guaranteed to have a miserable time. It's not fair on them at all.
Yeah I have about 600 hours in the game and about half of the killers near max level and I still hate playing Killer most of the time. It's been so long since I've played killer that I'm back at rank 20.. so it will be easy for me but I still have anxiety trying to do it even though I know what to do and watch DBD gameplay on YT pretty much daily.

Yeah sometimes True can drive me up the wall because he always thinks he knows everything, but he does have a TON of hours in the game and has great ideas sometimes on how to fix perks or gameplay mechanics.
You can just tell the developers never watch his streams or his VOD's on Youtube (the only place I watch him) because his useful ideas are never even considered until a year later it feels like.
So it seems another good observation that Surge is pretty useless until they can decide what they want the perk to be, though since they are balancing for low ranks maybe they don't even care about it, lol.
-
I was with some friends, we were all lower ranks (some green, yellow, and brown but at least two of us had hit Rank 1 on survivor multiple times in the past)
and we matched up with a Rank 20 killer with 1.0 hours in the game..
Pretty good job so far.
I felt really bad when he hooked me and this brand new Trapper attempted to place traps everywhere around me for over a minute staring at me in the face and just losing emblem points without having any clear way for the game to tell them 'This is NOT what you should be doing right now'.
-
It seems TrueTalent is making quite a stink about how useless Surge is right now.
Just came to the forums to take a look and see what the community thinks in general. Atm, Surge seems a bit underwhelming when you could just take Pop instead which is almost guaranteed, especially with that sexy buff to 60 seconds.
-
Is that a real dev post? Yikes... looks like they nerfed him like Freddy and said we will fix in about a year, lol.
-
Ghostface is really not OP at this point, especially with them hotfixing it so he can be broken out of stealth extremely easily.
I was going to say RIP to Ghostface because he WAS in a great spot, until the developers fixed a bug that made him fun and made it even easier to break him out of stealth.
I was like hmmm another killer they nerf like Freddy a week after he's released and they've gotten all their money but they need to keep all the baby survivors who complain about a killer being OP who say they play killer for 'a few games'.
This is just my opinion, I'm a Survivor main and I am always mad when they nerf killers, especially when they don't need it.
-
I just picture him as the two guys (Matthew Lillard or the other guy) from the first Scream movie. I understand with the licenses they have to go with whoever the movie companies tell them to use but Ghostface was always those two psychos under the mask to me.
And from all the responses on how he looked under the mask a lot of people never saw Scream lol. It came out when I was a kid so it was an iconic movie for me.

It's a weak counter to pallet looping. Killers need something better.
How about Spirit Fury + Enduring? Tru3Tal3nt uses those perks in combination constantly and it seems to be a really good counter to pallet looping in general without being incredibly OP.
When it happens to me as a Survivor I go OH SH* and I go down.
-
I think Ghostface is pretty much in a perfect place right now. I don't think they should do any nerfs or buffs to him, but that's just me thinking they finally did something right buffing him up a bit from his bad days on the PTB.
Just my opinion though, I'm sad if they make any more nerf changes like the 4% camera increase.. and I'm a Survivor main.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/69874/mettle-of-man-nerf-is-too-much
@HatCreature The perk is fine as it is now. The problem is that the protection hits are seriously bugged. I can't even get stacks for wglf unless I'm hit unhooking or unhooked safely. Protection hits need looked at. Until it's fixed, wglf and Mom are useless.
Just in response to this, WGLF isn't really broken, getting unhooks to get 3-4 stacks isn't too bad if the game is moving along smoothly BUT Mettle of Man is broken because it ONLY relies on protection hits, which literally never work. So yeah at least WGLF does work for unhooking safely.
I believe the protection hits must be bugged because they NEVER work and I've been using We're Gonna Live Forever for the past week. It's also bugged on the icon because it won't go above 3, so not sure what they did but they broke some stuff lately.
I would prefer if it worked for safe unhooks and protection hits (when they work..) for Mettle of Man because then it's worth using and trying to save your teammates means you're not being selfish and hiding in a corner. I really hope they fix this soon because I bought Ash just before his nerf and now that it's nerfed AND (hopefully) broken, it's just not worth leveling him up to get his MoM perk. Feels like wasted money like when I bought Freddy then leveled him to 40 and a day later he was nerfed.. for an entire year until his soon to be coming rework (thank god, been waiting so long for that).
-
Nurse's Calling I find a lot more situational because you have to hope that Survivors heal within your terror radius basically.
Hex: Ruin has way more general appeal and will always be useful unless it gets destroyed in the first minute of the match.
I would say always go for Hex: Ruin especially now that all levels of the perk affect ALL survivors.
Nurse's Calling is nice but unless you have it's max rank perk it has a pretty small area of effect.

"The new feature that shows survivors looking around in the direction of their camera has demonstrated this to me"
This is a new feature? I'm genuinely curious because I noticed it earlier today while playing Survivor and it seems like more of their body leans left or right even if you have the camera slightly turned that way now.
Also to the developers: Please don't nerf him in any way. He really doesn't need any nerfs or changes right now, even a 4% camera increase for the Survivors. Also if you think over to Vermintide 2 with their block while reviving bug they grandfathered in, that was a bug that became a great part of the game they never removed.
This being able to stalk while they are Marked bug is actually quite fun and not that overpowered considering you are slowed down while stalking and it might give you that slight boost you need to get to them before it runs out.
Some times I think the developers are a little too trigger happy with nerfs and then take a year to fix what they've done like in the case of Freddy where it's taken a year to get a rework after they nerfed him WAY too quickly into the ground.
I was very hesitant to buy Ghostface because of this since he is basically perfect the way he is now, but less than a week after his release they want to release some nerfs without giving it time for Survivors to learn how to counter him properly.
