Did you get the answer to all those "whys" as a kid though? Or were you forced to live with them, ignore them, being punished for them because no one could answer them?
I think you are misunderstanding my comment. I didn't mean kids asking normal question including the word "why" but simply continuous asking literally only "Why?".
Like first comes a normal question like "Why is the sky blue?" And you answer the question with facts about the atmosphere, refraction of light and so on and then comes another simple "Why?" And again after every answer after that.
That behaviour is not necessarily a thirst for knowledge but becomes a source of entertainment by testing another's patience and increasingly stress them via annoyance.

The reasoning behind the post is not it at all. I wonder what happened to people who react to neutral deductions like this one so negatively.
I was in the middle of fixing a generator when all of a sudden I had a thought. "Why do I want to escape? Why do people want to escape? What's the pleasure here to achieve that goal? Why people play this game? Why do I play this game? Why do I play? Why? Why? Why?"
The anime just made me ask such questions more, nothing else. Though the comment from @Sonzaishinai really made my thought about my public identity really hard to handle, so I just threw the picture since it suited my emotional state at the moment.
The biggest problem is that you are never satisfied with any answer and keep asking more purely philosophical questions. At some point it feels like a little kid asking "why?" Again and again just for the sake of it and not to get the questioned information. And that becomes annoying real fast.

The people who make posts aren't programmers. Or are you saying you want PR staff to try to program the game?
Maybe it would help. They certainly do a bad job in their own field given the let things like the colorblind pr fiasko happen. And that wasn't the first time a post on a social media platform resulted in a shitstorm.
Aren't pr departments also responsible for stuff like that?

Maybe, maybe.
Not as much torture as having to act strange and confronting just to have a semblance of human conversation.
Having to dig underneath people's skin so they have to notice. Having to act condescending so they have to pay attention. So they don't just ignore again.
A lot of questions asked where the answer itself was unimportant. As long as an answer was given. As long as a response is recieved.
All i saw was a cry born out of loneliness
Ouch damn don't hurt them too much.

Damn so close to a full set at this point. Only legion, demo, Oni, billy and blight remain unnominated.
And I would guess legion and blight would for sure come up in these kind of lists pretty early.

When I "befriend" the survivors, as described above, at least one or two will often come out of the gate, point at me, duck (not teabag, but actually "bow"), and just to make sure that I'm not betraying their trust I'll back up first before I swing, like "is this what you're asking me to do"? They will then nod and / or walk up to me again or wave me to them. I give them a smack, that's when they tend to rush toward the exit (just preservation instinct I suppose) but will still often stop to nod at me beforehand.
Seriously you guys, you should try this. When you get to the exit gate - where you KNOW there will be survivors waiting to taunt you - just be nice to them. As counterintuitive as that may seem, you can often turn negative feelings into positive ones, end the game on mutually respectful terms, and maybe even get some free bloodpoints out of it too.
Nah sorry too many trials in 4 years with getting dodged out of the gate (with or without deadhard). Just tired at this point of the attitude, i play without tunneling, switch map sides once I hook someone and don't run either boring killer not boring slowdown perks and they still think they can have an attitude because I let them escape at that point?
They can suit themselves and spam notification for 2 minutes but I won't give them an audience anymore.

I feel like most survivors do it to give the killer some extra points for downing them. At least, that's why I do it.
A good portion still even denies those last hits even via deadhard. One of the reasons I prefer going for left over pallets/breakable wall/other sources of bp for me. Or i simply shift my attention to YouTube on my second screen or reqd on these forums.

Hurr-di-durr my experience is different, so it must be like mine for everybody. (No offense at you but i am simply tired of those queue times/dc/whatever discussions that can be influenced by those factors and noone gives any info in this regard.😩)

Dbd is a casual game, dc penalties shouldn’t be a thing
It has only ranked queue and is still a team oriented pvp online game without any features to rejoin or refill teams.
If you want casual, play PvE or party games with free for all and not 1vs4.

Call of duty battlefield, fifa, nba etc dont have a penalty. Nobody pays for a game for others to have fun. Its my opinion
Great examples for games that are not comparable to dbd. Cod and battlefield have the feature that people can either rejoin or the teams get refilled or even auto balanced so a dc has less impact. Did and NBA are 1vs1 and you opponent gets awarded with a win when you ragequit.

Maybe in the casual queues there are no penalties but that's why I specified game modes where no players can rejoin or are refilled.

Nobody plays for other people’s fun. If someone doesnt wanna continue the match for any reason,he should be able to quit without time penalties. In other multiplayer games you can quit whenever you want,so i don’t understand why dbd should be an exception.
In which team based online pvp game with fixed teams can someone disconnect without penalty?

I only had 2 Survivor-DCs so far, one time when playing Survivor and one time when playing Killer (DC for Hatch, even tho they dont were SWF).
But like 4 Killer-DCs.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2291691#Comment_2291691
Yeah, I mean, I can understand it. But in this game, the Killer even had 1 or 2 Hooks and the game was far from over. Just his Tinkerer triggered on the third Gen and he just gave up.
The game is not even close to being over at this point.
Same mentality as the survivor that get found/hit/downed in the first minute and decide to DC without even knowing how the killer plays. Only talking from my experience and I avoid camping, tunneling and slugging outside of avoiding death hooks pre 8hooking.

Whatever the explanation, the fact is there's a disproportionate amount of toxicity coming from survivors, at least in my experience.
I have to say I haven't got any toxicity the last few times i played. Mostly nothing at all and a few gg when they stomped me. And the one time I answered their gg, after a game with 1 or 2 hooks on a bad/unfamiliar killer (probably plague), with "gg? Yeah not really in a game with 2 hooks in less than 5 minutes". (I maybe also said something about swf since I check profiles) what I got then was several censored comments, "go die"and they would take their gg back. A normal case of "that escalated quickly".
-
@Orion said:

- Doesn't explain the disproportionate toxicity you get from survivors. You definitely get more than 4x the toxicity from survivors than you do killers.
- True.
I guess it has something to do with strength among the masses. It is always 4vs1 and the individual in the 4 can most often rely on backup or support from the rest of the group. The lone individual has to present themselves all alone and that, from a psychological point if view, does not "encourage" such behaviour in the same way.

I thought it was lower than that as I rarely see it on the tally screen anymore. Every game I had as survivor had hook bombing happening, people getting downed every 10 seconds, had to switch to killer as it was sapping all the fun from survivor.
Fyi I don't know for sure that the are off. I just read it on this forum so no guarantees from me.
-
Atm this thread only contains 13 of the 22(?) Killers. Respect i would've expected that every last one would've been mentioned until the second page of comments.
-
For the hook bombing part, you can never satisfy people, not as killer and not as survivor.
To the dc penalty, there was a post yesterday saying they were off because of the frequent crashing. Its no wonder that the dc apocalypse would be back without the penalties, maybe opens the eyes of some people that want them off permanently. Or most likely not since those people tend to live in their own reality.

I don't get it how people still are so fixated on pipping/ranking up. Red ranks are the worst place in this game where the most (in relation to rank color) of both sides seems to do everything to make the game less enjoyable.
Also rank one is like a badge that's by now given out like candy on a parade for everyone that only plays enough between resets and has a basic understanding of the game.

I mean if you want to get technical about it you can hook survivors 3 times and then Distortion is completely countered.
Also you injured them when they were healthy... right? How could it be possible that you were able to hit somebody that wasn't moaning constantly? I don't think it's possible. It's totally not like a healthy survivor is literally just a survivor with Iron Will and not bleeding.
That comment was just to tell you that "line of sight" against iron will is one of the most ridiculous forms of "counter" that I ever heard. Just like a killers best counter against healing is hitting them again -.- that's not a counter in my book but logic born from the basic gameplay. A counter is something like the mentioned distortion against aura reading or dropping a key against old Franklin's.
And just fyi I am one of those killers that go for 8 hooks before killing anyone to be "fair" and "fun" for the survivor so i leave freshly unhooked survivor and if they have iron will and hide in alcove or behind stuff, your proposed counter does nothing.
-
Yes old ruin was worse against newer player than skilled ones but it also functioned as a filter for the matchmaking.
You aren't good enough to hit greats more than half the time? Sorry you simply don't belong at the top of the rank ladder.
In times of old ruin, the bell curve of survivor player base in terms of skill and it peak wasn't shoved over 50% into red ranks where they clearly don't belong.
Admitting there was non in that regard for killer but killer pipping is already harder than survivor given they don't even have the option of boosting via swf (coms or not).
-
@gendoss said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2284544#Comment_2284544
Those aren't really comparable because you can counter Iron Will by just using your eyes and tracking by line of sight, blood, and scratch marks, and you can counter Dead Hard by waiting it out or pressuring them to dead zones. You can't use your skill to counter Ruin, the second you let go of a gen it starts regressing and there's nothing in your power you can do except for running around the map and hopefully finding it before it does too much damage. You can counter any survivor perk by just using your skill as a killer without the use of perks but it's not the other way around with survivor.
Just to debunk the last statement of any survivor perk, yeah I can totally counter distortion by my skill of not running aura reading (just don't being such overgeneralized and blown up arguments 😑)
Edit: Also sorry but I can't 😂eyes as counter to iron will. That sound just like a good counter against all stealth or undetectable from the killer side.

What, and you think flashlights in their current state are a good idea? Why's it matter if a killer is blinded 0.25 seconds earlier than their pick-up animation ends? They're still blinded. It makes no sense not to force a drop.
Plus, any killer worth their salt faces a wall every time they pick up a survivor anyways, so blinding them is out of the question 90% of the time. And if a killer doesn't like being blinded, Lightborn and Franklin's Demise exist.
Pls, to the point of looking at a wall. Did you know that survivor can still blind killer from outside their field of view? The tactic to look at a wall also got a unnecessary counter. Flashlight save are the one thing outside of looping that takes any skill, so just us killer have to get better at pressuring gens/looping/mind gaming /whatever, get better at flashlighting.
-
The biggest problem with These kinds of threads is that either the poster is either a person like our sluzzy that mained the solo side so hard that they can only be called the power role and once they play survivor they expect the same success without regard that the number side is way more dependent on the teammates and shouldn't be equal in the 1vs1. Or people that main survivor and most of their killer experience comes from the 20% or less of their playtime that goes into killer and keeps them in yellow ranks were killer of course are stronger.
Both version warp the perspective into hardcore bias.

I don’t understand why people are saying to just not play the game. I played all day long on Tuesday, and crashed 4 times in total. Once yesterday, and once today. Getting a few crashed games over several hours isn’t a reason to avoid it altogether. I have been worried about playing because I got a 15 minute ban after my last crash. It’s more unreasonable to suggest not playing the game than it is to just turn off the penalties.
Oh pls make it a thunderstorm instead of a bugged system. Everytime the lightning strikes, it might damage your hardware. Would you still try to play again and again or would you switch of your system and unplug it?
It an extreme metaphor but all in all the same only that the penalty is not by nature and not permanent so people don't like that it's there at all and ignore most reasons for it since it doesn't protect but punish them at right this moment.

I mean this game like a drug to some people and want to play.
Yes they play a little and once they "inevitably" crashes they still screw 4 other maybe not crashing people. They simply don't want to wait to try again and possibly repeat the process. Why even play the game you ask?
If someone likes the game or has nothing else to play/wants to play, you can't let people not play it tbh. It's the devs their fault people crash, not the people who play the game.
Ehm yes of course they can stop you from playing. It is their product and since online gaming as a service became a thing, the user agreement included a paragraph saying that the customer is agreeing that the product is only rented and the right of usage can be reworked at any time. Be it because of cheating, other forms of breaking the terms of service and in this case the developer/publisher/owner deeming that disconnecting from the game is unsportsmanlike to the other players.
No one would like to play a Teamsport with a person that is known to have a hindering injury that can act up once in a while leaving the team at a disadvantage.
And nobody is forcing those crashing people to keep trying to play. These crashes are comparable with ongoing blackouts, you know they are happening but still try again and again against better knowledge.

Bhvrs fault like millions of percent. Some of these bugs were on the ptb. They had 3 weeks. Also you cant make the game unplayable for a majority of the playerbase with random crashes for no reason. Then punish them for your inability to make a stable game. Normally im against removing the dc penalty but this is a perfect exception for me.
A great way to make it a problem not for some but all the same. Now not only will those people that crash leave games unintentionally but everybody. God speed getting any games during these times.

First of all, trying to inverse an argument like that is not really constructive or useful, but anyway
That doesn't mean that killers should have a perk to completely destroy survivor's items 😐
If you ignore the fact that keys can open the hatch even when they have 0 charges (which is wrong and should be changed) Franklin's got straight up buffed, and the "toxic" side of it was removed, so it's a win-win for both survivors and killers
To the first point, if you check their history, their aren't any better than sluzzy in their point of view or argumentation at this point together with a few others in here, so i simply try to emphasize on their unrealistic views and their shortcomings.
To Franklin's and the keys, yes I know Franklin's was overall buffed, that's why I don't complain about the perk per se. But I also don't expect behaviour to finish the key nerf in 2021. It took them several years to gather their courage to change one number in the code for Moris and early game mechanics might as well be scrapped after over a year of the mentioning of it. Same with optimization for the last console generation (by now it feels like they hope that the players patience survives the console generation itself without doing anything). And I could go on but i think the point stands.

That's another good point. The skill disparity of red ranks survivors (and a fair few killers) is staggering. I regularly get red rank players in my game that will insta drop strong pallets on the first loop or throw a game commiting to a generator when there's still 3 left to do.
My all-time favourite analogy. Red rank in dbd is like low gold in league of legends, it can be reached simply by investing a bigger amount of time between resets. But their is a whole world above it, in league more gold, platinum, diamond, master, grandmaster and even challenger bordering on pro play. The problem is dbd ends there and everyone gets matched against each other leading to those endless winning sprees and winning while goofing around from streamers because they belong to the top and get matched against everything below them.

You may not camp, and tunnel, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t tons of others out there that aren’t doing that exact thing. The point of this being it’s absolute garbage killers get a perk that over powers any survivor aura reading perk, and the one that survivors have is a 3 time use, and it’s gone. If I play 10 matches today 8 of them will have a killer using BBQ, and Chili. They will also be using it to track people to the best of their ability. This BS of “it’s a BP tool” is quite ridiculous.
I would have no problem giving distortion the option to regain for certain action but making it straight unlimited would brake something. Why wouldn't any survivor run it when it completely blocks 2 killer styles (all seeing wraith, yes outdated with the last buffs and scratched mirror myers), screws 2 killerpowers (Myers and ghostfaceses stalking and every last aura reading perk. Especially without the survivor doing anything for it or it impacting the survivors playstyle (like insidious which is counterproductive outside of camping).
Also about the point of bbq, it already has 4 fricking counterplays. Be in the vicinity, the movement feint, lockers and hiding behind the gen aura. How many have there to be?

You’re one of those people that royally screw this game up for people like me. I play by myself, and have no way of telling people that our hooked teammate just got face camped by an insidious using leather face. It is way more effective than you think it is. Y’all have created an environment in this game that makes it seem like every lobby is a group of 4 man SWF on comms with each other. They have molded this game around that idea, and it’s made it pretty crappy for those of us that play alone.
I don't camp or tunnel so not really (as if the devs would listen to me because I make one or two comments here).
And I cant grasp why the old gymnastics on hook to signal a camping killer came out of fashion since the release of the game. Solo then would use simply tricks to overcome those problems but nowadays everything needs a built in mechanic or a perk to be countered.

I think making Kindred base kit is still an incredibly good idea. It's pretty much a must have for solos anyway. And it sucks to have to dedicate your few perk slots to info swf just get for free in larger doses.
Another good idea is making it so that the obsession "I am being chased" icon is just a thing for every survivor. I see no reason why we only get told the obsession specifically is being chased. It still doesn't even come remotely close to the info just having Discord open with friends makes.
And we're never going to have proper killer or map balance until the devs actually follow through with their "buffing solo" promise. I mean, most SWFs are simply carried by the info they have at their disposal allowing them to optimise their time, not because they're actually good.
If that gap was closed even just a little bit it would give the devs a clear idea of where certain killers ACTUALLY stand in balance. Remember "Micheals kill rate is high, we have no plans for him"? Anyone with more than a few hundred hours would consider him one of the weakest in the game but because of unreliable solo teams his stats are boosted. He's atrociously weak against a good team but teh devs don't think so "cus stats".
I agree wholeheartedly with this comment. They should simply make the 11 or so info perks swf potentially gets for free via coms basekit and close the gap between solo and swf IF (big if) the don't leave killer in the dirt.
And yes the killrates and way inflated but not only because of solos but in my eyes mostly because the bell curve of survivor player is not peaking at rank 10 (an even distribution) but way more than 50% of it sit at rank 1. The same (but not to the same degree tho) happens on killer side. And swf throws another wrench into the matchmaking together with the imbalance of killer vs survivor player base size (I guess something like 1:8 or more instead of the perfect 1:4).
Without building those foundations there will never be a chance to correctly balance this game but most people have become to accustomed to the status quo because change would maybe break more than it already is in the transition time until it gets better and don't have the patience anymore in today's fast society for that.
-
He is a killer where the killer player has the option to relax too. Nothing to setup (trapper/hag) or build up (Oni/Myers/nemesis). Nothing to aim (Deathslinger/Huntress/plague) or painstakingly control (Billy/Blight/Nurse) and so on. Simply him and his bell.

I'll never understand this analogy
Both survivors and killers already lose their add-ons at the end of the trial, unless they used an offering or a specific perk
Items are NOT add-ons
Killers don't have to buy items in the bloodweb in order to use add-ons, Survivors do
I know that but simply wanted to inverse the argument of another heavy biased forum member.
But to your point, both sides have to buy stuff on the bloodweb. And yes survivor have to by items plus add-ons while killer have to buy add-ons for their individual power. Survivor only HAVE to buy them on one person just like perks and can individualise everything except the cosmetics on one person. If you want true variety as killer you have to equip multiple killer with all perks plus getting stashes of their respective add-ons which aren't any cheaper than survivors.
And for the difference in bp survivor and killer obtain every match (which is also one of the few incentives to play killer at all in my eyes) survivor can find and use items during matches plus add-ons in chests which killer can't. (And yes I know they can vary from brown item without addon up to pink item with two purple add-ons).

Doesn't matter how good you are at looping if your team came in with the purpose of doing Rift challenges or just doesn't want to do gens. I ran a Blight for 5 minutes yesterday. Like 5 ACTUAL minutes and 1 gen got done. I died on my first hook. They were all red ranks.
I get that that sucks but what do people expect the devs to against that? Balance the game so that even with potato teammates like that the 4th solo survivor can win? It is still a 1vs 4 and none can help if the 4 can't work together.
A proper matchmaking would be the only help in my eyes. But because most people think they belong into the top 10% of the skill based bell curve and would end up with the only 3 really viable killer there (Nurse, spirit, blight) or death squads instead of floating around in the middle were variety would be plentyful, they scream bloody murder everytime behaviour tries and stops after 1 or 2 days.
