  • Because laying on ground for 4 minutes doing nothing isn't fun. Let me be able to speed up the timer once I've reached "find help" or have collected a crow and I won't mind it so much. Hooked survivor can speed up the 2 minute hook time by attempting escape and ignoring 2 skill checks, meanwhile I'm stuck on ground for 4 minutes with 3 crows while killer stays nearby waiting for the teammate that is locker hopping across the map waiting on me to die.

We'll be getting an update + more information on lag + RPD map next week.

My gut is telling me it'll be map performance issues fixed but general performance issues will still be a thing. Or they will fix performance issues from patch on PC but console will have to wait.

Still don't understand why they do this. They show way to much in all movie trailers,I remember when trailer's are only a minute or 30s that was enough to keep everyone excited. Now they show you all the jump scares and basically how it will end .

I don't know what I find more annoying - the ones that basically show the entire movie or the misleading ones that make you think it's one genre but it's really another (for example looks like comedy but really is serious drama about cancer and all the funny bits were in trailer).

  • I just hope that they have these and the items flood the bloodwebs. The events lately only have 1 maybe 2 total of offerings/items and it's so disappointing.

  • The recent Halloween Kills trailer shows waaaaay too much. I watched it after Jamie Lee Curtis shared it and it spoiled so much. πŸ˜” I'm afraid to watch any recent Candyman trailer because I don't want same to happen, just going to wait to see it when it releases. I'm pretty excited for both movies plus the Chucky TV series that's starting this fall. 😍

Do survivors not get points for running from victor? Really? I never play against them so I never knew that thats messed up.

Nope, I guess it's because he's not considered the killer he's considered her power so while you're in a chase it's not counting as a chase.

  • I haven't crashed yet, luckily, but there have been times I was worried it would. Now I'm waiting until next patch before I start playing again. If still not fixed by time event comes I'm just going to get my crowns and then hold off playing until performance is back to atleast how it was pre-chapter patch.

Borderlands 3 just started up their Revenge of the Cartels event so I'm going to focus on that instead. It's nice playing a game that isn't freezing nonstop or making my ps4 sound horrible.

  • Nope and I hope chat isn't added to console.

Is this a joke? Put me back into Rank 4 and then it changed into a pip loss for some reason and back to 5

You should add that to this post about pips that's in the bug report section: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/249701/pips-bugged#latest

  • Game is causing too many crashes currently. Sucks some are taking advantage of it but players shouldn't be punished because BHVR broke their game with chapter patch.

  • Makes sense to start June 30 instead since July 1 is Canada day and most, if not all, will probably have the day off. This way if anything breaks the game more than it already is when event gets activated more will be around to try to fix it.

  • Haddonfield is a good time with him. All that grass to hide my traps and areas where survivors can't avoid them while running between house and fence. πŸ˜‚

I love playing boop the snoot, If I kill you via hook its because I either 1. Lost count of the hooks for you, 2. Am a very angry piggy, or 4. I don't like you. Oink Oink.

Or option 5. You had teammates that left you on hook. 😬

  • It's not a rule. Turn off chat, you'll have a better experience especially when you don't have players on either side telling you made up rules. While sometimes it can be nice to farm when other team has someone DC you definitely do not have to farm if you don't want to.

I've had killers farm, or atleast take it easy, once a player DCs because it helps the killer get more BP and pip. I've also had killers just completely destroy the remaining survivors and the game is over quickly with everyone dying on first hook because they want to quickly move on to next match. Either choice is fine because it's not killers fault someone DC'd - and honestly with second scenario odds are it would've been same quick match even with 4th teammate just now there's a DC'd player to blame.

Being 3v1 isn't always a death sentence either. I've had games where there's 1 teammate that is basically sabotaging the rest of the team from getting anything done. Once they're out of the game the team actually does way better and escapes because the killer took out the weakest link that was hurting the team more than helping. I've had games where 1 DCs, killer definitely is trying hard wanting kills, but all 3 still escape.

I think you may have mentioned before, but lowering some of the particle effects etc should go a long way to improving overall smoothness and stability.

I'm thinking about those fire barrels or how the new pallets\walls shatter into tiny fragments; I would take some simplified effects of graphics in certain cases if it meant performance would increase. I would think this would be something done for the Switch version at least, where some small sacrifices in graphic quality would compensate somewhat for the hardware limitations.

I would even wait longer for the new content after it has released on PC and can be modified to work more efficiently on consoles, maybe even by a separate small team dedicated to console QoL; some small changes would make an enormous difference.

I'd be all for them taking extra time for console before releasing new content but because of crossplay they need to put new content out at same time on all platforms. πŸ˜”

  • I was pretty disappointed they did an event on mobile that already has extra BP events frequently but not the main game where they just released 3 characters and they rarely do extra BP anymore.

  • Twins. They feel like a waste of time due to lack of scoring events as survivor. Loop Victor for 5 gens, 0 points because being in chase Victor doesn't count as being in a chase so game just thinks you ran around doing nothing all match. Other choice is be slugged, camped, tunneled for pretty much no points. If they adjusted the scoring events it wouldn't be so bad but until then the Twins are the one killer I truly hate getting matched against in this game.

  • It's the only way to get rid of the stupid FPS drops it triggers everytime it activates, it's so annoying when I play killer. If they'd optimize console it wouldn't be an issue but since they won't I'll take what I can get when it comes to removing triggers for fps drops.

  • Probably didn't boop the snoot. Boop it, they like it when you boop it. 9/10 times it saves me... there is the 1/10 time it's an angry piggy though. πŸ˜‚

I'm sorry, to me, before patch 5.0.1, close and reopen the game, it made the pips fix, at least on PS4...

I'm on ps4 too. Definitely a bummer but atleast now I know not to bother with closing/reopening every time I lose a pip when I shouldn't have.

I tried to finish this challange but i just failed.

I did deal with survivors for farming. First one survivor destroyed my trap. And then i resetted trap and i catch one survivor on this trap. And then resetted it again. But nothing happened. Weirdiest challange ever.

@TheGannMan Claire is sweet, keep her as your avatar :)

Did you grab them out of trap or hit them? For the Trapper Achievement where you need to "catch 10 survivors in bear traps" you need to grab them out of the trap, I'm guessing catch here is the same thing.

  • I'm surprised BHVR doesn't report these accounts for pretending to be them. They do enough to piss off the fan base with real things they do, they don't need fake accounts help fueling the flames.

  • When the say "catch" with Trapper it means you need to grab them from the trap, not hit & down them. The activate bit I'm lost though.

  • Still have flicker and fps drops on my ps4.

Twins is really bad for me, Ghostface isn't as bad and I presume its because of having a simpler power; I wasn't stalking though really.

I feel map plays a part in it as well with some locations being worse than others; Yamaoka is severe but I had a game or 2 on Suffocation Pit that didn't seem as bad.

I played as Ghostface once after the first patch. I was on Ormond and had such a bad freeze when I used his power. I didn't use it again the rest of the match.

  • There are plenty of killer perks that survivors are not aware of until they are activated and some never notify the survivors even once activated.

You don't get notified of NOED until AFTER someone is downed with it.

You never get a notification when killer is running Tinkerer and has no heartbeat or aura.

There's no notification that the killer is running Franklin's until AFTER your item is knocked out of your hand.

Those are just 3 off the top of my head.

This is what I keep saying it's not just a nemmy issue exclusively it's an all killer issue I have got frame drops when I played pig lol

It seems like they fixed the survivor side from what I saw of the matches I played of things but playing killer is a different story , did you do the software update bm33?

Oh it's definitely all killers, I've experienced it with every one of them - some are just worse than others.

I wish it was fixed on my survivor side but it's not. My husband was watched couple of my survivor matches earlier and couldn't believe how bad it's freezing. I've told him but this just happened to be first time he saw, was during a match against a Clown and he was like "Seriously? Every bottle thrown freezes?" and I was like yup, anytime a killer uses their power...

My software is all up to date. Not sure what's up that some people it fixed issues while others it didn't. Also Sony must've changed something in their firmware if people were able to play online games without updating, it used to be you'd get error messages if you tried to play an online game without having your system up to date.

  • You need to send video proof down to support after the in game report for them to do anything.

    https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

  • I have a similar bug in ps4. Pretty much if it's a new challenge - either from daily reset or replacing discarded challenge - if I sign off after they appear instead of playing an additional match the new challenge(s) will be replaced with something else.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/250828/ps4-daily-challenges-bugged#latest

  • Still losing pips when I shouldn't after patch 5.0.1. Closing and reopening the game did not restore the lost pip.

    _20210623_172132.JPG

  • Just had my first match against a Doctor since the patch. It was brutal with the freezes. I'm just glad it wasn't on indoor map.

The thing is if they do close it so many people have seen this that they would make their own posts completely taking over the fourms and it would look bad if they are constantly closings threads over optimization

That's what happened last time. They closed big post, bunch of posts popped up that were angry which were then also closed or set to sink meaning even if you commented on the post it didn't rise back to top. Then they finally let one post be but after a bit it died after 20 something pages. This is first post since last summer that's gained some traction.

Thread length is not why people are commenting, this person is just showing their enthusiasm for the topic.

We are fighting for sufficient optimisation for a game we like to play, it is not about the thread length. And people are not bumping the thread with random comments, the replies are mostly feedback and evidence of poor optimisation for the devs.

There have been quite a few just commenting on page count, only one page ago someone was spam bumping. The last big console thread one of the reasons it was closed was people just bumping the post rather than sticking to discussions even though majority was discussions. I don't want same here. Can be enthusiastic but keep to discussion.

If it gets to 100 that's not a good thing. I know people are excited the post is huge but it's not good it's gone on so long with no response. Really we shouldn't be pushing for page count because people will come in to spam bump to get up the page count instead of actually keeping the discussion going.

I feel it's really map depending on wheter there are flashes almost every second or not.

On the dark maps I get them a lot, on the bright maps I don't get them as much as the dark ones (they're still there, but maybe they're less noticable?)

I think just more noticeable in dark. Ormond and Coldwind I'll notice them more in buildings than outside where it's lighter.

I agree with what you're saying. My beef is with people saying "oh this future event will suck". The food analogy doesn't work that well and sure, I understand wanting a better product. I suppose I must concede that calling something 'hot garbage' is just opinion and I'm sure I would agree about things that don't work right with whoever said that.

My feeling on the event is that I'll probably enjoy it and I'm not going to shoot it down just because it's not something new or in line with some past promise to make events more unique.

You can feel like you'll enjoy the event just as others can think they won't. While you don't want people to shoot down your planning to enjoy it you shouldn't insult people that don't think they'll enjoy it by calling them 10 year olds.

I can see why people will think the event won't be enjoyable and it's fine to voice why, especially if they give more than just a "it's going to suck." If they didn't enjoy last year and this year is same then it makes sense they'd want to voice their displeasure before it goes live.

As console player performance is currently worse than normal and there's a good chance it won't be fixed before the event starts next week. It's hard to enjoy the game already when it is freezing nonstop, let alone trying to enjoy the event while dealing with these issues.

As survivor last year there were a ton of killers face camping just to prevent survivors from getting the crown. It sucked and honestly is a bummer on what should be something fun. Was hoping this year they'd do something to change that but unfortunately it's the same. Personally when I play killer I'll be letting all survivors go because I think everyone should be able to easily get the free cosmetic.

The grind is constantly complained about and the cakes stacking was probably the one thing people most looked forward to since it'd help the grind a ton - especially when 3 new characters were just released. Seeing that currently they are set to only be for the individual is quite the let down.

These are 3 concerns that if voiced now could maybe have some changes made BEFORE the event goes live. For performance issues they could plan to extend the event to make up for time lost due to the issues. For the crown they could figure out something so survivors don't get screwed from a crown because they were camped. Cakes just make them apply to everyone and be stackable like they were the last two years.

Sure, but that's just one person. You've been on entire teams, working on very public software, where this is so pervasive that it comes out in the product? My experience is that some things are very difficult to do and it can be very challenging to put out great software and it doesn't require everyone to be incompetent or sabotaging the effort for me not to have a great experience with a piece of software.

Not on teams in software but in other jobs yes. What ends up happening is the members that do a good job and actually try to do well get more work shoved on them because less is given to the bad worker rather than firing them. The good workers get burned out and make more mistakes or they get frustrated and either stop performing as well since bad worker gets away with it or just quits - that one bad worker brings down the whole team.

I have not worked in development but my husband creates software for use at his company and they would not be allowed to publish anything nearly as buggy/glitchy as DBD (or most games now) - the investors would be outraged because it'd impact their money. The mentality in gaming software however is much different, it's "release now with bugs/glitches we'll (maybe) fix it later" because gamers have become accepting of this - they still buy the broken game/dlc instead of holding back their money demanding it be fixed first. Anytime someone complains of the bugs/glitches, even when they're so bad they are game breaking, it's met with people saying "oh, every game has bugs/glitches." Gamers as a whole shouldn't be OK with games being as bug/glitch ridden as they are.

At a restaurant if you're given raw chicken do you go "OK, the cook did their best, he delivered the best product he could" and eat it anyway because you enjoy chicken or do you send it back and asked ask for them to fully cook the chicken? Releasing product that still needs work is like getting uncooked chicken, sure you can eat it and hope for the best but it'd be alot more enjoyable if it was done right.

  • When I played I had way more randoma that I see getting chase and the moment they see me or another player on a gen/totem they'll run straight at someone to try and lose the killer. It'll be first chase of the game too, not like they're on death hook. When I'm on hook have seen alot of just hiding teammates when killer is no where near them, can see them chasing survivor on other side of map. I've had alot of single hook deaths. πŸ˜”

So do you have a job? Do you have a work ethic? Do you deliberately do a bad job?

Do you think that people working elsewhere, because they aren't you, don't do their best?

You've really never worked with someone that does a terrible job because they don't care or know they can get away with it? I have plenty of stories of coworkers that did a bad job because they knew they could get away with it. It happens at big companies where you make $50k a year and at waitressing where you make $5hr + tips.

  • I tried it. It drained my battery like crazy and overheated my phone. Deleted it because it took up crazy amount of space.

  • I had started playing DBD just after Shattered Bloodline, I remember playing during the Halloween event that year, so I was too new (or rather dying too quick) to notice the bugs from that chapter. Not sure if it's a good thing I had no idea how broken the game could be. πŸ˜‚

  • No thanks. I have my psn set to private so upset players can't take their anger out on me. I like that those players can't unleash on myself or others that are set to private and there is no work around like an end game chat for them to still try.

Instead of end game chat have the thumbs up show to people and have that be the gg. No chat needed and makes the thumbs up actually do something.

  • You keep the item if you're holding it. If killer uses Franklin's and DCs before you pick it back up you will lose it.

We did have it for a brief time, I can't actually remember why it was removed.

I'd like it purely because I'd know if I could go and grab a coffee or something whilst waiting.

I played against a nurse on groaning storehouse. Every other second there was a flash :/

I haven't played against a Nurse yet, luckily. I think the flashes are probably tied to the freezes when a killer uses their power. Would make sense you'd get a ton with a Nurse, probably from the amount of blinking. Nemesis probably from his distance attack and zombie combo. I had it more while asleep with Freddy than awake.

Same. Honestly I think alot of console players are more than willing to be free testers if it means the game will be playable for us.
