So because console performance is bad, you're going to purposefully get fewer points and make other players get fewer points? How is that supposed to help?
My game is more likely to crash thanks to the performance issues so I'd get no points anyway, atleast then I won't be wasting a cake.
-
I'm not using BP offerings until they fix performance on console.
-
Grinding for BP and crowns with these performance issues is going to be a miserable experience for the console crowd. π
-
On PS4 it's still pretty terrible.
-
Played survivor matches against Nemesis, Freddy, and Blight and it was so stuttery. π
-
After downloading patch I loaded into game. Between loading screen and main menu I had a black screen for 20 seconds, thought my game was going to crash. Once in main menu the news didn't pop up with new patch notes, when I manually clicked on news it still is 5.0.1. Decided to restart just to make sure that was right. Again, same thing. 20 second black screen before going into main menu and no updated news. Looking for a match now as survivor, will report back once I finish match.
-
Someone posted this on another thread, it definitely fits.

Something tells me if we don't get a hotfix that actually fixes things today this thread will go into riot.
I have a feeling performance won't get fixed in today's hotfix, I hope I'm wrong but my gut is telling me not to hold my breath. I just hope anyone that comes to this thread remains civil while voicing their frustrations.

Oh probably lmao
Then a laggy Ruin/Undying Blight that tunneled and camped at 5 gens as soon as I have to escape :')
I feel like because of the performance issues you either have killer that just basically give up and farm or tunnel/camp at 5 gen, nothing in between.

The map one I got first try ;-;
Saloon vs Trickster with Franklin's + Ebony
Red Herring one trying now
EDIT: Also got it first try
Was good luck making up for the bad luck you had with the co-op challenge. π

These have been the responses on Twitter today asking for updates on performance and rpd map.

I find it pretty funny this post was only two days ago.
-
Hopped on to help my swf teammate get a challenge done he was stuck on. Should've gained a pip, rank progress says 0, I actually lost a pip. Glad I hopped on when I didn't want to play with the performance issues only for this to happen. π€¦ββοΈ

I can't remember last time I booted up DBD and it didn't make my ps4 sound horrible. Any other game my ps4 is quiet.

Honestly, I feel that, if a chest has an item in it, after 60 seconds of no one interacting with it, it should close & re-lock. So Survivors have to re-open it to get that item back.
That would make those chest challenges way easier to complete in one match. Also, wouldn't stop survivor from either dropping item in corner or even next to chest to avoid Franklin's.
-
In my matches the survivors were always smart enough to go hide the key somewhere to avoid Franklin's. I can't count the number of times I came across a key a fellow survivor put in corner or chest to avoid Franklin's.

Okay yeah that Hatch challenge seems abysmal the one I'm complaining about may take 2nd seat when I try it.
Hatch one is really going to be luck more than anything if you don't have 4swf. I was looking at my characters inventories and even though I go out of my way to get maps on bloodwebs (started going for those and flashlights after seeing them on tome challenges) on my p3 50 maxed out Zarina I have 25 maps total meanwhile I have 137 brown medkits. Like atleast if the challenge is escaping through hatch with a specific item have it be one that is a common item not rare or ultra rare.
-
I did it a few times. Was mostly because licensed character so p3 gave me free alternative cosmetic. Also did it on couple original characters because they didn't have many options for cosmetic choices at the time. After p3 those characters though and seeing how many BP it takes to get the perks I wanted I decided not to prestige anymore - just takes WAY too much BP/time. While it'd be nice to have the cosmetic available for all my characters, especially all the licensed I didn't p3, it just doesn't feel worth it to keep p3 characters.
-
I'll take co-op while solo over these two challenges.
Really hate the escaping through hatch with a specific item one - have to hope the randoms will just leave instead of teabagging the killer until time runs out, the killer doesn't close hatch first, that killer isn't running Franklin's and hit you before you can go through hatch, and that you have enough maps to try and complete the challenge. Many of the challenges they put out are definitely meant for 4swf not solo or even 2swf.
-
Get rid of them. If they are going to insist on keeping them then give players option to choose which tier they want to equip.
-
It's available on console and is optimized for console. I really don't ask for much. π
-
If the recolored charms you get like 4 or 5 of each rift could be lumped together that'd knock off atleast a couple pages worth of charms. They need a better inventory system for them, especially when the rift is more charms than anything.
-
No, I don't message any randoms because of how they played. I just move on to the next match. At most if they did something reportable I'll do what is needed to report a person and then I move on.

I play on PC only, but this thread has me really concerned for the health of the game. I know RCPD crashes weren't just confined to console, PC players were having it as well. If there's anything you need us on the PC side to help with, just say the word.
Main thing is speak up with your experience with the performance issues you've come across. If you can share videos of the performance issues you have in here it will help show what players that are being hit with performance issues are experiencing. If you can't share videos then just adding to the discussion helps to keep this post alive so BHVR sees more are being vocal about not being happy with the state of the games performance and want something to be done to fix these issues. If you see posts about performance issues chime in with your experience so people can see more than just console want optimization to fix the performance issues in the game that are only getting worse.

A new twist. For years now the game's menu has been a lagfest, in particular the bloodweb. When leveling Jill today into the 40's the web would hang once the last spot was taken. None of the left hand icons would work when clicked on, can't leave the web page, not even tapping "b" to back out.
The only way I got out of the web was to click on the Archive. The autosave kicked in as it loaded the rift, and backing out of that brought me back to the web as the next level of the web loads. Rinse and repeat.
Never ever had this happen before. Anyone else experiencing this?
I've had that happen randomly for atleast a year now - think the trigger is from going through multiple bloodwebs on a character. If I hit the button that switches to next/previous character it'll let me back out. Usually restart game when it happens because if I try another bloodweb it'll freeze again. It's definitely obnoxious.

Ok so here is how this post is going to go down.
People are going to come in saying something mildly homophobic possibly saying " lgbt characters shouldn't be in the game" and they will claim they won't care which completely contradict themselves by posting at all.
Then there is going to be those edgy homophobes posting, then GoodBoyKaru10 and Orion is going to get into an argument with said people about this subject with everyone being passive aggressive.
Then this post will get over 200 comments and completely shift to politics or religion regarding lgbt and then a moderator will come in and shut this post down and bring us all back to earth from arguing with their wisdom and then this post will fade into obscurity.
Did I miss anything or did I sum up correctly the events that is going to take place?
Only thing missed is - Edgy comments will be deleted and randoms will come in saying "no one has said anything edgy, why are you overreacting"

I really hope we'll get literally any form of game performance improvement within the next week or so. I just want to finish the dang Rift before it ends for that Bill outfit, but it feels generous to even pretend that DbD is playable right now (20 tiers to go, but it feels more like 20 tears with how awful it is).
I'm already planning to just skip the 5th Anniversary Event if things are still this bad by the end of June.
They talked about their "4 Pillars" during the 5th year livestream, but I don't think they actually have 4 of them.
Game Health is not a pillar; it's the foundation upon which the other pillars stand.
That last line is perfect.
I have a feeling that if they don't fix the performance issues before the event starts that will be last straw for decent portion of the player base.
-
Does dressing up as Ghostface when I was 10 when the first Scream movie came out count? π
-
I just think of the guy that fixed the gta loading issue and Rockstar ended up using it. It'd be amazing if someone could do that to fix the optimization issues in DBD for console.

Body blocking is not reportable. What is reportable is "taking the game hostage" which is defined as "the action you are taking makes it impossible for the game to end"
If you body block a single survivor, the other ones can still do the gens and leave, so you aren't "taking the game hostage"
The mods and Peanits have stated multiple times if the killer body blocks a single survivor prior to gens finishing it is reportable/bannable.
-
Killer wouldn't be reportable - they weren't bodyblocking you. Killer would have to start bodyblocking you before gens finish/EGC starts for it to be reportable.
It is reportable on the other survivor for griefing. You'd need to send video proof in a support ticket for them to take any action against that survivor. You'd send the video here: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
-
It's as worth it as you make it. Personally I don't find it worth it, in the past I did it couple times to support the game but after it felt like more a waste of money than money well spent. I don't find prestiging characters worth the time/BP it takes after p3 50 a few myself, but there are plenty that think spending the time/BP is worth it.

ps4 seems to be worse off at least compared to my experiences. the main triggers I have are exhaustion perks, certain killers using their power, and of course the good old fashioned sloppy butcher. That survivor clip was probably the first time I was teleported a significant distance. I may lose distance or get turned around from time to time. Never ever have I been thrust 10 feet into the killers face. It was certainly an out of body experience
Before the RE chapter I wasn't thrown around from freezes like I am now. Also brought in more triggers, like before I wasn't getting them when killer would wind up/aim power and only certain killers when they would actually use their power on me. Before this chapter I wasn't getting a freeze when killer would use basic attack or I stepped in/out of their red stain. It's made the old triggers (sloppy, perk icons/status effects, entering night shroud, etc) freeze harder while adding in new triggers to make game a PowerPoint presentation from freezes.
-
Twins are my least favorite killer to play against. I either loop Victor for the match for no points and lose pip because game thinks I was running around doing nothing or I get slugged/camped for no points. Either way the match feels like a complete waste of time. I never DC'd against them but I was happy when they made that change to Victor that caused less to play him since I went from several matches a session that were waste of time to rarely seeing them.

Round four of uploading clips. The first two clips I am not surprised by at this point. The game behaves like this at a constant. What bamboozled me was the third survivor clip. I lagged ten feet forward into the killer only for him to miss me. dead hard lagged the game further. I don't have much more to say. Welcome to the console experience
Survivor video is how my matches have been on ps4. Killer goes to use power I get a freeze, killer uses power I get a freeze, I get in killers red stain another freeze, killer swings I freeze... And when those freezes turn you around it's super frustrating. I had match on Lery's against a Wraith and was turned into him when I had a freeze after he uncloaked, I was trying to run straight so there was no reason for me to turn back into him.

I mean they work perfectly on the newer consoles.
They did work perfectly when they new consoles were first released but after several patches players on new consoles have started to notice FPS drops from some of the specific triggers like Sloppy Butcher again. Overall newer consoles currently run better than the older ones but performance issues are starting to work their way in again.
-
Last year 1 maybe 2 per bloodweb. As survivor some bloodwebs I didn't get any cakes because there was also items, would be 1 maybe 2 spots total used for event items/offerings so could've just got an item instead of cake offering. Hopefully they'll increase the amount that pop up on bloodwebs.

If you go to his profile he gave couple ways to contact him through Twitch and Xbox.
-
I've had NOED in several of my matches with Jill's going for Adept because gens were focused on instead of dull totems that were right next to the gens. Counterforce is just added to list with Small Game, Detectives Hunch, and maps not killing NOED - survivors not wanting to bother cleansing totems no matter how quickly they can get it done is too strong.

I agree with having a performance or graphics option, that's valid. I just don't like people being angry that a game with textures and models made in 2021 is not running flawlessly on their Xbox One.
The issues have been happening prior to the graphic updates. Console was very vocal in their concerns about the graphic update hurting performance when it was announced because there were already plenty of performance issues and we had already been waiting on an optimization update that BHVR announced years earlier to fix many of the issues. BHVR said they'd "take special care with console" as a response to these concerns. Consoles expectations of how the game should run are result of BHVR promises to console.

Unfortunately Pulsar and I saw this coming. If the planned auto ban feature didn't get him soon enough, the forums would. But even though he has been forced to retire, hopefully this post can keep on going. With thousands of views and over 60 pages, we can't let it die. Performance keeps regressing with every new chapter that is released.
While Pulsar may be gone for the moment, it is important now more than ever that we as a community stress the importance of how this is a universal issue that breaks gameplay. While I am not Pulsar, nor will I ever be him, I hope to become more active in the forums, especially relating to these optimization issues. As a real life friend of Pulsar I feel obligated to continue posting about these ongoing problems that lie before us. He was obviously very passionate about this game. While I may have less than 20 posts, I have been playing dbd for several years now and hope to express my interest for this game through the forums. I have always left the posting to Pulsar as he was more vocal when it came to highlighting issues we both shared. Now that he is gone, at least for now, I hope to give the forums a more heartfelt try.
Because we no longer have a Pulsar, its important to make it clear that console dbd is essentially unplayable. When this forum post inevitably gets taken down, I have faith that more posts of this same kind will pop up. As for the time being, I'll keep doing my part and posting a minimum of three videos highlighting freezing and fps drops every couple days. What Pulsar started cannot be understated. He brought many console fans that suffered from the same issues together in the same place. While his presence in the forums will be missed, we must press on and continue the fight for optimization.
R.I.P Pulsar
Thank you for continuing to post videos of your experience with the game. It's definitely hard for others to argue our experience when visual proof is shown.

Hey all,
Due to recent circumstances, I find myself uninterested in continuing my DBD experience both on the Forums, and on the live game.
As such, I'l be quitting both for the foreseeable future. Don't ask why I was jailed, I don't think I can tell you and some of you probably already know.
I hope you all keep the thread going in my absence, this issue remains near and dear to me, I may upload some final clips.
Love you guys,
Pulsar
This is such a bummer to see. It sucks to see you go, really sucks to lose such a strong fighter for console. As long as we continue to have issues I'll keep the post going because it should stay alive for as long as they continue to avoid optimization.
-
I don't know how those of you experiencing so many crashes continue to play DBD in this state. I got fed up just by the performance being worse than normal, I would've dropped it faster had I been crashing too.
-
I would love for them to focus on a game health chapter.
-
If lock downs are effecting their ability to work efficiently and put out working releases they should've re-evaluated their release schedule a year+ ago. There's been multiple releases during the pandemic, each one with loads of issues. First release or two I'll give them using lock downs as an excuse but refusing to adjust after that is all on them.
