How is it fun? That's easy.
You mix playstyle with killer.
Playing 3-gen from start of the game is boring with any killer, but some games require it to win...
But you don't have to play this way, it's just more difficult than 3-gen with Skully
3-gen is for me same as camping or tunneling. It's effective way to win in correct situation, but noone should play with this plan from start of the game. That's when issue starts.
Bro the fun part of this game is the chase, everybody knows it. When i play killer, i love to chase, the action and the satisfaction when i do my job. 72 minutes a game, bro... that's not playing a game... it's a full time job. The 3 gen strat is ok. I'm fine with it. Just don't let her spawn drones every 2 seconds. I mean, it's almost impossibile to win agains her with that strat. You have to be on comm. In solo it's a massive waste of time.
-
I don't understand how people can defend her: "she's fun to play". Really? How can it be fun kicking generators the whole time and do absolutely nothing wandering around in 8 meters square?
1 choose 3 gen
2 do absolutely nothing
3 win
How is this acceptable. The Hens video showed 4 of the best players in comm. They lasted 56 minutes. Yesterday in solo queue, we had a game lasted 72 minutes. Seven two. 72 minutes of going back and forth, healing, running, coming back, healing... Then, after zero hooks, everybody wanted to go and started throwing the game. Icing on the cake, he slugged us 'till death, nodding all the time. I mean really? How is this even in the game. How. How it is possible to build a concept like this, not knowing in advance the implications of it. How. It blows my mind. How.

Wesker is fine. It's easy tonrun rings around him and his terror radius is huge. Blight is strong but i wouldn't say he's broken. I do like your suggestion on nurse though, she can blink to rapidly after exhaustion. A longer cooldown between blinks would be good.
No Wesker is a actual pain. Every game ends up with him having 3/4k, disconnects, suicides at first hook etc., even the noobest and easy juke killers, and 8 games out of 10 are Weskers for the simple reason that is unbelievably unbalanced.
-
It happened to me also. Two times in Pale Rose map. No issues on other maps (for now).
-
Sounds like you're making it an issue of skill here, implying the killer isn't doing well if they "gave you all the time" to do generators.
@kyogul If a killer spend more than 160 seconds in one single chase, he isn't doing good. I'm not saying that is a lack of "skills" but, usually, if you spend more than 30 seconds in a chase, and you aren't able to give at least one hit, leave the chase. To me, that is a giant lack of "game understanding" skill.
Obviously doing objectives as survivor is not toxic and you're aware of that, but as another user said, I don't think you're cognisant of the core subject of the complaints they're making.
I don't agree, but ok, i respect your opinion. If they simply state "tryhard genrushers... the only thing you can do is hold M1!" i cannot imagine if there's an hidden meaning of it. But, if you was in a chase for more than 160 seconds, what do you want from me. Of course i hold M1 because you never came at that generator to stop me. Playing killer isn't only "hook survivors" at all costs and take out of the game one of them as soon as possible, to gain a little bit more pressure. There is also "Deviousness" as objective. Playing killer, i understand the difficulty in some maps. I understand that. Perfectly. BUT, i never complain in end game chat. I take the loss and i move on. But showing your toxicity, because we "gen rushed", i think it's stupid.
-
Fair. I have nothing against noed... it rarely works anyway because good survivors find it and cleans it in seconds... so. And as a killer, i never used it.
-
@JHondo said:
The only time I complain about a 4E or "gen rush" when I'm playing killer is when they play super efficient and the game is over in under 6 minutes. Like how is it fun to send me to Haddonfield with three BNPs on Commodious tool boxes and extra charge add-ons pound out three gens before I can get one down then have the exit gates open before a second survivor can be found? If I'm just playing poorly or picked a killer I don't do particularly well with that's one thing but when a SWF will go out of their way to make the game as short as possible and nobody leaves the trial with more than 12,000 BP it's a boring waste if a game. I don't care if I get the 4k as long as it's a battle to the end of the game, I'd rather have 8 hooks and 4 escapes in 10 minutes then 2 hooks and 4 escapes in 5.
Try dodging those lobbies when they get too much toolboxes etc. They're probably SWF and against them, there isn't much you can do, apart playing really... really dirty and sweaty.

I watch hexy's streams occasionally and I don't see him calling people he says genrush as toxic. He actually defends them, saying they're doing their objective and there's nothing wrong with what they're doing. The only thing he points out is that there is hypocrisy in that killers get bitched at for rushing their objectives (killing by means of camping/tunnelling) but survivors don't and are more prone to being commended in skill for rushing gens.
~
To the OP: It doesn't seem like you have much experience in the game if you're speaking like you do. And I say that because gen speeds in many scenarios has nothing to do with the survivor's skill let alone the killer's; it's based on RNG. The map plays a huge part, as well as the survivor spawns. I literally just had a game as Freddy on Gas Haven, a very survivor-sided map, and I was using Discordance. Not even ten seconds into the game two generators were activated by the perk, indicating a duo duo spawn. As Freddy I could somewhat manage that, but many other killers are too weak to in terms of mobility and/or lethality. By the time I get across the map to even get to one of the two generators, one is already half way done and they both would equally have the same progress. I initiate chase with one of the four survivors doing generators. I'm going to lose at least one generator by the time I end chase and there's nothing I can do about it. If the third survivor is smart they were sitting on the generator while I was chasing the fourth survivor. That has nothing to do with skill of me as killer nor them as survivor; it's purely RNG. That scenario can apply to many maps in this game like Groaning Storehouse, Sanctum of Wrath, Mother's Dwelling/Temple of Purgation, etc.
It's one thing to justify genrushing and simply saying you're doing your objectives as survivor, which is true. But it's another to act like you're better than the killer inherently because you were able to do so. Holding M1 on a generator does not require skill, so stop gassing yourself up. You talk about others being childish but here you are getting an ego because you held M1 on a horror-themed action game.
I've also personally have almost never had a killer complain about genrushing to me in end game chat. The last time that happened to me was when I was playing in a swf in green ranks when I was relatively new and a killer facecamped one of my friends because we did two generators in a relatively short period of time. Stuff like that hasn't happened since.
Did i said in my post "I'm the best because i can hold M1 for 80 seconds?". I don't think so. Let me read it again... mmmm... nope. I didn't said that. Can you please elaborate where, in your opinion, i state that "i'm inflating my ego because i'm good at pressing M1 for 80 seconds"? It doesn't seem like i have much experience. Well, 4300+ hours aren't enough for you? Ok, i will tell you when i get to 6000.
I'm not saying that the person to the other side is "childish". All i'm saying is that "the excuse" they are using IS "childish"... and i'm sorry for your opinion, but yes... it is "childish".
I will post the screenshots when i will face another one... and... nope again. They aren't green at all. I'm talking about only Red Rank killers here.

While i can agree with you with some statements you said and for some situations you described, nah... i can assure you that most of them are just angry and cannot accept the fact that they could do a better job. Proof of this is that in chat they start insulting with the excuse of the genrush. I will post some screenshot, censoring the names of the players of course, just to have an idea.

Well, hopefully you're not predropping pallets and holding W, that's easy confused with genrushing because it has equally little counterplay and usually goes hand-in-hand. But mostly it's just the fact that two years ago the average length of a trial was about 15 minutes and now it's around 7-8.
Well, after 4300+ hours i think i know what i'm doing. I prefer windows than pallets. For the rest, we are 4 survivors on the map, right? One is me on a gen, another is on a chase, and the other two i suppose are doing one gen together or one each. If the chase is longer than 80 seconds then 3 generators pops up in 80 or more seconds. Right? No rocket science here, but yes... i stick on gen if killers let me do it. If a teammate is on first hook, i'm not running right away for the save. It depend on the percentage of gen completion. If i'm more than 60%/70% i let them wait a bit. Usually another teammate go for the save. Is better to have done 3 generators as fast as possible, then just one... don't you think? If i see that the killer is taking too long in a chase, i stick on the generator. You can bet on it.

I'm gonna be honest even when I am genrushed the most I get is a small bit annoyed. Granted I've not been genrushed that many times. I could probably count how many times it's happened on my hands. But the few times it has happened the survivors have been quite toxic. Y'know doing what survivors normally do teabag at gates, clicky clicky, vaulty a window or pallet until you come over to watch the former two but thats not that bad I can deal with that but what really grinds my gears is when they go out of their way to berate me (I hope I spelled that right). I play on xbox right so there are very few people who can complain to me in my matches and when they can they normally don't but they few times they did it was just insults and a couple slurs. Yeah they got punished but still It upsets me they genrushed me, teabagged at gate, clicked at me, they went out of their way to throw insults and slurs at me.The first thing the main offender said to me was "God you're a bad Doctor git gud scrub. Then he got angry and started throwing insults. Why you may ask. I SAID AND I QUOTE "whatever you say man Gg" And apparently this little line needed to be addressed with insults and slurs.
Sorry I got off-topic anyway all that that means is that the few times it's happened I have not really cared but tbf I am just now getting into purples so take that as you will.
No sorry bro, i understand you quite a lot. I dunno why some people need to teabag and stuff like that. I notice that happens mostly in SWF games. I've never seen a survivor teabag or click when they play solo.
-
@MadLordJack said:
Are you leaving teammates to hang whilst completing all gens in 3 minutes and leaving?
No. Usually in these type of games, the killer is able to down at least a couple before the third gen is complete. One game, for example, i was facing a P3 Legion, who lost 3 generators in a couple of chases. Of course he is not doing his job, that isn't only "killing" survivors but also deviate them from doing gens. And then i read these excuse: "you genrushers!". Lmao. What am i supposed to do? XD

Do you mean the killer? That the killer is supposed to be the entertainer?
If so, no. I can't speak for SWF, but for me and my group, we're just trying to play a game. The entertainment is talking to my friends about life, and plans, work and honestly just bs'ing. The game is the second objective for extra laughs, scares and kudos
Yeah but that isn't fun for the killer play against a group of 4 fully organized satan's spawn, with flashlight clicks all the game, teabag every pallet drop, DS, Dead Hard, all the possible second chance perks... this isn't fun at all. Maybe you're laughing with your friends, enjoying the jukes etc. but the killer, would just destroy the PC. You can bet on it.

3 gens should always pop in your first chase if the survivors are smart, being in a swf doesnt change that
In solo queue, it rarely happens that 3 gens pops up in the first chase. In swf, usually 2 keeps the killer busy with flashlight saves and stuff like that and the others 2 works on gens with Prove Thyself. There is no chance against swf unless you start doing very dirty stuff. No one single chance, and i'm rank 1 with more than 4000 hours. No chance. Period. They are so fulfilled with second chance perks you can't do basically nothing against.

Exactly. There is no way, in a billion years, that you brake stuff that was working fine before every new update, if your project is well designed from the beginning. No way that this could ever happen. In DbD, every new update brakes something else that was working before, and this is hilarious from developers perspective. I can't even imagine what's inside that Unreal Project folder. I would never put my hands inside of it. I'm too scared of what i could find inside XD..
-
I work mainly on VR applications and games and i own a position in a british company. The "false hits" in DbD is an easy fixable solution with good latency prediction strategies, and they should remove that "cone" in front of the killer, or reduce (or expand) the range of it according to "latency". Another better solution should be putting the hit registration on killer's main weapon, that get activated ONLY if it touches the survivor's capsule collider. Moreover, when survivors are leaning forward, the capsule collider doesn't change in it's size. Instead of that capsule collider that surrounds the survivor, they should put more colliders in joints/bones of the characters, in order to register hits when the killer's weapon actually touch the survivor. Like it is right now, the animation has a mere aesthetic function, and has nothing to do with the hit registration. It's easy fixable, if only they would try it.
We made a study prototype of DbD me and some of my collegues, in our spare time, to see if this solution is applicable in reality and it works just fine. DbD would be a much better and enjoyable experience from both killers and survivors.
-
Let's define once for all that the term "hitboxes" is wrong. Characters don't have "hitboxes", they have "capsule colliders" that "trigger" the hit registration from an invisible "cone" positioned in front of the killer. If these capsule colliders are inside the range of that "cone", you get hit, it doesn't matter how far you think you are from YOUR perspective, or if you think you dropped the pallet at the right time. You get hit. Period. Multiplayer games has something called "latency" that changes according to many factors. From your perspective "it looks like" you're far away from the killer, but not from "server" perspective that has the "authority" to decide if you got hit or not. In DbD, in order to have a decent gameplay experience, you need to work out your loops in order to gain distance, trying to mindgame the killer and other small tecniques that you learn with experience.
With that said, i don't say DbD is a fair game, because if you have to take in account "your perspective", "server perspective" and "killer perspective", to judge if you need to drop a pallet or vault a window, the game is designed with feet and not with a fully functional brain. But i already said many times what devs should do to fix this problem (i'm a full time dev too), but not only they won't listen, they're so arrogant to state that the game is fine like it is.
One time a moderator told me "if you think you can do better apply for a job". You tell solutions and you get salty answers back. XD

Also, get off your high horse.
no one ever denied the existence of that part of the LGBTQ+ community or politicians trying to exploit it. That doesn’t give anyone the right to explicitly exclude anything related to LGBTQ+ from everything.
What about avoid completely any "sexual orientation" reference in particular, and let the people decide it by their own? For example many authors completely avoid to include any reference to any particular existent religion in the real world in their stories, because they don't wanna stand for a side or another, and that's wise. Why instead is a good practice to exploit different "sexual orientations" in movies, tv shows, videogames, even if not exactly explicit, that are actually forbidden in many existent religions, like for example Islam? Isn't discrimination as well considering their beliefs on the topic "wrong"? That's why i consider this mere "propaganda", because there are many logical facts that destroy completely its fundamentals.
-
pretty much everything you said is wrong.
Elaborate your statement instead of arbitrarily assuming that I am not educated on the subject. If you don't like the truth, not my problem. Someone here said that "being sexually oriented towards a person of the same sex is provided in nature by many examples". True, and i add that nature also provide many and many examples of "discrimination" against the "different ones". I don't hate! I should support the LGBTQ+ movement, because of my sexual orientation, but i'm not, because I recognize the political exploitation of their false rhetoric, that is build on gain power. You don't. That's it.

No, it's not. Non-heterosexuality exists in a ######### ton of species. Homophobia only exists in one. If nature isn't natural, then what is?
All this promotion is a giant "marketing" operation to state and be "proud" our "differentiation" from the rest of the specie. We are not. Another period.
There's no "promotion", there's just equal treatment. Heterosexuals get featured in media all the time and nobody bats an eye. Why are you making a big deal out of non-heterosexuals being featured in media as well? If we're no different, then it shouldn't matter to you, right?
You didn't even understood my words, and you didn't even read that i'm BI, why should i even try to make you understand. When i said "being sexually oriented is very normal" i was talking about every kind of "sexual orientation" (pedophilia trashcans apart), not just straights, but all this propaganda is making the things worst. All i see is more hate being generated by it and it's normal, i can't judge it. Talking about human psychology, the more you abuse about a topic, politically speaking, the more you generate people who think against. LGBTQ+ movement will build up more hate. No doubt it. For me, this is simply not the way.

It won’t bring hate, it will just show the hate that was already present.

"Doctors power mostly useless..." i don't agree. In the footage he did the power very late. You have to make them scream much before they reach vault collider.
-
What i don't get is the PROMOTION of LGBTQ+ content everywhere, like TV shows, videgames, comics etc. etc. You can be whatever you want, but it's shouldn't be everyone business what you are and who you are. I'm not going everywhere saying "hey i'm straight" or "i'm bi". All this insistent promotion of these topics, will bring more hate at the surface.
-
I would rather call him "The Weakster", as totally irrelevant he is. If they don't change something in his game design right now, he will be the weakest killers in the game.
-
There are always the old ones btw and some of them are ok to bring home 2/3k average. I don't get bored by the old ones if they work for me. The new killer seems very weak. A TL wall tile is sufficient to keep him busy for long time without getting a single hit. XD BHVR is doing a very bad job in game design. I wonder if they actually play their game. If they would, they would understand how it feels playing it, and what their communty need to have serious fun.
-
Iri hatchets are for unskilled huntresses... git gud and you don't need that stuff.

Git gud. Another killer who can't play this game properly who wants killer to be buffed. Killers are fine, play with the brain and you can have your 4k.

Your argument is very solid sir to counter mine. LMAO. NOED to me is equal "I'm the trashiest killer ever born on earth. I failed this game because i suck, and i get the chance to have at least 1 kill with a perk made for noobs". I play killer and i feel shame even when i see it in my perk library. I never used it and i'll never use it. It's junk.

If you're trash killer it worth the try. If you play against a group of sentient and organized survivors, it's a waste of time and a perk slot.

RIP DBD <3. Thanks a lot devs, you've completely ruined the game.
Fun part is that they hit you from impossible distances and then they nod at you, like they are the best. It's sad because actually i've seen trash players get 4k completely undeserved.

Saying that this update is unplayable is a compliment. I stopped playing. I won't playing it again until they fix it. I always got red ranks in a matter of days, now i'm deranking like crazy. Iri addon on Huntress is unfun to play against, and i play always Huntress when i play killer. There are three things i never use, iri addons, noed and moris, they all makes the game unfun for all for 3 main reasons: if you use noed, it means you're trash, and have some K with it it's totally undeserved. Iri addon is basically a "free down" (Huntress is soo easy to play, especially with the hit colliders the size of Mars) and moris... well, we all know why. Play killer sometimes and you'll realize that survivors are actually OP. I play both. Yeah there are some killers like Spirit and Freddy that seem a bit broken (especially Freddy's lunge), but if you know what you're doing with survivor, there is no one single killer in this game that is OP. It only takes brain, unless you aren't facing a God Nurse... in this case there isn't much you can actually achieve.

I happened to me also, a few minutes ago.
-
Devs, if you wanna resolve this "fake hits" problem once for all, take that CONE registration hit out of the game and put it on the M1 killer's weapon. Then put collision objects on survivors joints/bones, so you can register hits only when the killer ACTUALLY hits them! You can get much much better results. I've made many tests, and it works better than that CONE bs.

Can we maybe take a minute to appreciate all the stuff they do right, i know the devs cant be exucused for the mistakes they make but lets give them so credit for the one post at least.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day.
Nope. No excuses and i tell you why: i'm a full time developer too, and if i would make just one or two mistakes like that i would be out of the company in no time, and they have plenty of developers to choose from. Just a couple of mistakes costs your job. Period. That's the reality, and you have to hear what the other colleagues says about DbD: coded with feets. At BHVR the phrase "quality control" or "quality check" means nothing, otherwise they wouldn't release patch after patch with new bugs, braking things that was already working before. A game can have bugs, all games have at least a hundred, but this is beyond ridicule. Bugs are made to be fixed, not to create new ones at every new patch. The Elodie audio bug for example. If you do quality control check, it could be fixed in 2 seconds. 2 seconds, not 2 months. As a project manager i wouldn't spend money and resources in new "animations" to screw the control feeling: fix those damn servers and write a proper framework for latency prediction algorithms, like all the AAA MMO has. DbD is the only multiplayer game that doesn't have a latency prediction. They have something called "hit validation" but that doesn't work at all, if you watch at the streams how players constanty get non existent hits, while still far from the killer. So... nope, no excuses. They take money from you and should give you at least an mid-high quality product.
-
You didn't understand a single word of what I said. Have you ever heard of "game design" and "game mechanics"? Even if the Unreal capsule player controller still with the same parameters as before, animation CHANGE the way you perceive the control, and they are tigtly related. Perception in games is EVERYTHING. You brake that balance, you brake the game. Do some research on "game design", and this is one of the first things you learn about it.
-
From killer perspective, survivors look so dumb that makes me laugh so hard. They look like they don't know where to go and what to do with these kind of animations. The injuried one looks like someone in diarrhea desperately looking for a bathroom. Unbelievable.

I'm not one of those killers who feels frustrated if they lose a game because of one or two good survivors in a game. Devs, Unreal standard capsule on the character it's very rough and you should know it. Why not using capsule-colliders on character's joint/bones and register hits on characters actual surface? If a character lean forward hits still registered slightly above is head or his back? C'mon. You know it's rough. You have 5 players on the map. Put capsule-colliders on character's joints would not affect performance in any way and your framework would appear way less questionable. You could still use that killer's "attack cone", but you could avoid weird hits like jumping from a building window and get hit even if the character is already slightly at the bottom of it.
Moreover, what's the point to check distance between us and the killer, to decide to use a pallet or a window, if we have to mind-calculate latency? Latency is predictable and can be compesated at runtime!

These changes could make your game waaaaay better... and you know it.
Last thing last, what's the point for DC penalty (DbD is not a competitive game), if people suicide on first hook anyway, destroying the game for everyone? Why not removing the "escape attempt" in the early stages of the game and activate it only after a certain amount of generators are repaired?
Devs: "there is no way to detect a difference between someone who turns their machine off or manually kills the game process". Well not completely true. There is a button to leave the match. If somebody press that button client side is intentional and can be detected with high precision.

Well it's very hard to pip when you face 6/8 SWF in a row armed with toolboxes, flashlights etc. I still get "brutal" even if i manage, somehow, to make 4k. I occasionally get "ruthless". I have no problems with solo queue, with Hillbilly. The problem is SWF.

Billy, without any doubts. So fun to play.

Killers it's time for us to use our Moris. I have a collection of 500. 4K X 500 = 2.000 potato 9ft. under. A deal.

"I can't rely on my teammates" so Nerf noed. Lmao
I haven't said "nerf noed". I just reported what happens in games when i play survivor. When i play killer i don't use it. I said what i do, not what i want. This community duuuude.
