  • Getting farmed off the hook. There's no reason to unhook me IMMEDIATELY when I have a solid minute to just hang there. Give the killer a second to leave first...

Alternatively, being left on the hook so long that I go into struggle on my first hook because teammates are just starting a gen (finishing one that's halfway, I get, but like... don't start a new one) or they're self-caring across the map.

As a killer, if I hear the flashlight click, I ignore you. Had a Claudette do that to me as I went for her unhooker. Like, thanks for letting me know you have BT, I'll ignore you for a bit. But the clicking itself is a peeve.

Also as killer: immersed survivors. Feels bad man if I go a whole match and get a 3k but never even SAW the 4th person. I don't get the fun in that from either side.

  • I agree. Though if it is longer, I'm not as bothered by the gen being highlighted because more time to move away from it, but in general I could see maybe highlighting the gen for 1-2 seconds instead of the whole duration. Minimal notification, but still keeps the original essence of the perk.

  • Glen for Quentin but IN 👏 THE 👏 CROP👏 TOP 👏

  • It all depends on context. If the killer is chasing someone else, and I see another survivor hiding nearby but NOT coming for the safe unhook and heal, I get pissed. If NOED is up (or it's a camping Bubba or it's T3 Myers, etc etc), then I totally understand not going for the save. Even if it's general endgame, or like if it's a huge AF map and you're super far away, it makes sense. But leaving someone to die on hook for selfish reasons? Especially if it's toward the beginning of the game when having 3-4 survivors to do objectives is better? Yeah, that's just ######### gameplay imo.

  • I'm really excited for crossplay! I've heard so much about how Nurse is a God-Tier killer, and I NEED TO SEE IT. PS4 Nurses are... honestly I just feel bad for all the ones I've faced because I've never faced a Nurse higher than like rank 17 on PS4. Also just in general expanding the player base that way should help in terms of queues and matchmaking.

  • Chase the killer. (I'm partially joking, but I've also 1000% farmed the TR for Stake Out stacks like this when the killer was intently chasing my teammate.)

But I agree with waiting for the downed person and then just lurking around. It'll add up.

  • I love using perks that aren't in the meta. I spent so many BP leveling up Laurie to get DS, and now I barely use it because when I bring it, I never need it, but when I don't bring it, I need it. So I'd rather just use perks that might get some use.

One perk that I LOVE running is We'll Make It, and I will chase down the person I unhooked to heal them speedy because it makes it SO FAST that even if the killer returns, I can usually finish and take the protection hit. For similar reasons, I love Resilience. I don't mind being a one-hit down for that 9% speed boost, and honestly if the killer has one-shot abilities anyway, it's silly to heal. (I run Iron Will with it for this reason.)

I've also been playing Tapp a lot recently, and I run his three teachables plus Borrowed Time (I just love it too much, and more often than not I need to use it), and it's such a different gameplay than usual. Detective's Hunch is a great counter to NOED, and it's like a built-in totem counter, and the number of times I've made the killer waste a little extra time with Tenacity is great. Even the benefits of great skill checks from Stake Out can really help in a pinch. I honestly just really love Tapp's teachables to the point I haven't wanted to really alter my build on him.

I may never rank up to reds or wtv, but that doesn't really bother me because it's more fun to me to test things out.

Nope you are wrong. I just watched a broadcast from otzdarva and true while both were playing Killer and payed attention to the loading screen. The tips for the Killer are not always shown.

I was just going on my own experience. I don't have nearly the same number of hours on the game - as killer nonetheless - as those guys. Maybe my tips will eventually disappear too. I just figured it was similar to how there are "how to play" tips for the survivor loading screen as well, but tailored to whatever killer is being played.

  • I can't say I've ever actually seen this happen; the closest is dying on hook to give the last person a chance. But I agreen with Fibijean. A slight delay similar to sacrifice animation is good, but 30 seconds is too long. Pretty sure most killers can lap most maps in that time.

  • @Xzan said:

Only the Player who is "new" against the Killer should gain the hint.

I faced a swf yesterday with 3 red ranks and 1 purple and still got the hint for the Killer i was playing:/ (piggy can't be that rare)

If you were playing Killer, the loading screen always gives you tips on playing that killer.

  • I don't think you can compare spamming hook hits and t-bagging. The hooked survivor has no way of stopping the hook hit because they're hooked. But the killer has multiple methods of stopping the t-bagging: smacking the survivor or deciding to cut chase and go for someone else. The killer can walk away from the tbagging but the hooked survivor can't walk away from the hook.

I don't think changes need to be made to either because there are so many things that could happen that aren't actually BM, and people shouldn't get punished for that. Killers already lose points for being close to the hooked survivor for too long, but sometimes I'll smack the hook survivor by accident when aiming for the person trying to unhook. I shouldn't be punished for that. Some survivors tbag to be taunting jerks, but also survivors tbag as communication (say hello, thank for heals, etc). The game wouldn't be able to really differentiate between these to establish a punishment.

  • Favorite is The Pale Rose, specifically because I love the foghorn noise when the boat gen is finished. Yeehaw Town is now a close second fave. For indoor, I love Lery's. (I kinda separate indoor and outdoor in my head.)

Least favorite is The Game. Just no thanks.

  • Survivors tbagging or blinding at exit gates, like just LEAVE. I had a survivor blind me and then NOT leave, and I get wanting more BP, but at that point it's just BM.

Killer's spamming hits while I'm in struggle phase. It doesn't make it go faster, and I'm not going to let go faster, especially in the EGC. I die once everyone is gone, so let me get my struggle BP. Maybe this one isn't really toxic, but I can't help but think it comes off that way because of aggressive killer animation. It always feels like a '######### you' to me.

  • Toss up between Deathslinger and Hag. But Hag is more because people are so STUPID going against her, so I guess moreso Deathslinger. I think I enjoyed my first game or two against him because it was something new, but the rest after that? Yee-naw.

  • I really want to combo Iron Will, No Mither, Resilience, and Unbreakable/Tenacity, but I don't have a survivor with all four of them yet.

  • It's usually fairly even, but like... rank reset sucks so /shrug. I get the occasional rainbow game, but I find that for the most part my matches are as balanced as expected given time and matching criteria.

  • I don't know if it's necessarily the best, but when I play Steve I run Iron Will, Adrenaline, Resilience, and We'll Make It. I love the speed boosts from Resilience and We'll Make it, and Iron Will lets me hide while injured a little longer. This especially comes in clutch on the last gen because of that speed boost, and then I don't have to waste time healing because I know popping the last gen will proc Adrenaline. Sometimes people get mad at me for not letting them heal me, but I don't mind playing injured most of the time if it means I do everything 9% faster. It mostly works if I'm SWFing because my friends know I have resilience and won't fully heal me, or I'll just bring a MedKit for myself.

  • Usually killer. Barring ones that are for killers I'm not skilled with (lmao @ my huntress attempts), they mainly rely on myself and how I feel like playing. Even if they take a few games, they don't feel like they take as long, though that could also be due to shorter queues.

For survivor challenges, there are three other people, and like someone earlier mentioned, if you're not in SWF and coordinating challenges, it can be hard. Takes me FOREVER to do unhook challenges in solo queue because I usually end up being the distraction or I'm the person on the hook (or in one of my games today, no one even got hooked). Just feels like there's more affecting getting the challenge done than with killer challenges.

  • My friends and I cleanse against her for the chaos lmao. It's fun.

But also if people all cleanse continuously and fill up the fountains, Plague will just get her power, and it could be at a really inopportune moment.

    So I say cleanse away!

  • I don't understand messaging people angrily about their play styles because I can just play another game and hope for better, and honestly messaging someone to complain is just immature. If someone did something against the rules, there's a nice little "thumbs down" button at the end screen you can press, and I've used it before (but not for tunneling bc it's not against the game rules).

But just as a survivor, I don't like being tunneled because then I feel like I don't get to interact with the game as much. And like... I like playing. It's why I bought it. I want to be able to do all aspects of the survivor objectives, but if I get hard tunneled off my first hook and then again off my second, I can't do much. If I'm playing with friends it becomes more frustrating because now I have to wait even longer.

I get that there are alternatives to all this. I can get better at looping (I'm working on it), or I can play solo (I do plenty when I'm the only one on).

And I get that sometimes when you come back to the hook, the only person you find is the person who just got unhooked. I play killer too, just not as often. I don't consider it tunneling to return to the hook if you're not in a chase (or if you're in a chase where you're getting out-looped), and if you can't find the unhooker because they're some immersed player that abandoned the person they just unhooked without healing them, then... well, you've gotta kill people still. /shrug What I usually do then is slug the unhooked person and see if I find someone nearby. This makes it seem less tunnel-y, but also helps eat time if they've got DS.

I would definitely try to get Corrupt Intervention though. I only have it on my Plague atm because I haven't leveled anyone up enough to get Teachables (other than my Ghostface), but having those three gens blocked off at the beginning forces survivors to move closer to you or do other objectives for a time. In your case as Trapper, that's good because it gives you more set-up time.

TL;DR - Ignore the immature people that waste their breath messaging dumb things, and just work toward expanding perk base to have a good load out. It helps as you move forward!

  • Even if I'm not in range to hear her lullaby in a match with Huntress, I'll end up hearing it the entire game. Earworm for real.

  • I was doing the Jane Head-On stun challenge in the last rift. Landed one perfectly on the Spirit in the killer shack. She proceeded to camp me and hit me on hook despite having not done that to anyone else in the match. All I could do was laugh about it.

  • 4-man SWF No Mither only David squad

Easily the most hilariously dumb match my friends and I ever played. Not sure how the Huntress we got felt, but she played as usual and got a 4k so I can't see how she wouldn't be happy? And we were just running around grunting and being dumb.

  • A couple days ago I was playing with my friend (we were a 2-man) and two randoms against a Doctor at Lery's. I had just gotten unhooked by my friend and he was healing me. The Nancy in a chase led him DIRECTLY TO US, and I was immediately downed and re-hooked. I was so angry because I was almost healed too. Don't know if it was on purpose or not, but she didn't seem helpful during the rest of the trial either so /shrug.

  • The Game because I can never find the stairs or a gen or ANYTHING.

  • Who's Got Ball?

Your rugby instincts kick in, and when you see the killer carrying another survivor, it's like seeing someone carrying the ball. You can run into the killer for a tackle, stunning them and freeing the survivor. This action has a cooldown of 180/120/60 seconds. (Perhaps a token thing too IDK, just let me tackle the killer and be like David.)

    We Like To Party

Your love of a good drinking night leaves you in the Broken Status for the duration of the trial. However, through the power of tequila, you feel invincible. All actions receive a 3/4/5% increase in speed.

    "LET ME LOVE YOU"

You have a little crush on some killers. That's fine. While another survivor is being chased and you follow the killer (to earn their LOVE), earn up to 1 token for every 25/20/15 seconds in chase. Your next hit will cause no damage but also will not give extra speed (because you want to stay close to the killer).

  • Megs and Claudettes seem to be the most useless in solo queue, and the number of times I've SWF'd with just one friend (so we're a 2-man but 2 solos) the "MEG #########" and the "CLAUDETTE WHATRE U DOING" seem to be the most prevalant comments.

Killer-wise, I just hate going against a Pig. Too much extra work lmao. Or Hag because people are just so dumb with her, or I think I've crouched soon enough but I was WRONG.

I would say trapper for the number of times I've been brought to the hatch but then hooked and hat it closed in my face, but honeslty that's too hilarious of a trope for me to be mad at.

  • Why did I get so excited about skill checks on totems tho? xD

  • I'm never calling him anything other than The Bell Ghost ever again.

Listen for his whoosh too. If you hear it, give a look around to see if you can see his wobbly air spot (if he's moving, it has that sort of disturbed hot air that comes off the blacktop look), and then you'll be able to keep track of where he is too.

  • I think yes! Does it have its issues? Of course. But I'd say I have fun more often than I don't have fun. Plus I really like the little details on certain things (was literally remarking about the snow coming in through some windows at Lery's to my friend today), and I actually don't mind the BP grind very much. It gives me goals, which is exactly what I need in a game. I struggle with some more open-world games because they're just too open, so having distinct tasks and challenges really helps me.

Maybe I'm lucky because I really haven't had like... toxic players? At least not in the sense that they've been toxic to me post-match. (I'm on PS4, so it's definitely harder to type there...) So Idk, it's just fairly easy for me to move on to the next match and hope for a better one, and if I find I'm having a string of terrible matches that I just don't want to deal with? I stop and go do something else. Easy peasy.

I do think there should be a little more tutorial-ing (for different killer powers, some extra mechanics, etc.), but also if I'm trying to get someone to play, it means I want them to play with me, in which case I'll play with them in a custom game so they can get used to stuff before going into a real game.

Also there's the bonus of not needing to find save spots in a storyline. A+ for that.

  • I voted Myers for the jumpscares (Ghostface falls in same category), but my absolute favorite to go against is Demogorgon. There's just an entirely different vibe to the game with all his noise and funky music, so even though he's the opposite of stealthy, I just get so excited going against him.

  • I really dislike AFK players because it's not even worth it for BP since you're basically down to just Objectives and Survival (and even on survival can't get that much bc no self-healing or wtv). If I get an AFK player, I just report in the end-game screen. AFKing is considered unsportsmanlike conduct and is actually reportable in the game, so might as well make use of the feature if someone made me queue just to M1 for five minutes. I've gotten more BP on games where I actually got to play but still died than I've ever gotten during an AFK Killer match.

  • Survivor:

    • If someone (not you) is being chased, do gens or do bones or get the person on the hook. Don't be useless.
    • Don't teabag or BM at the exit gate. I have literally pointed at other survivors to gtfo if they're BMing at the exit gate when we went against an obviously newer killer who had a bad match.
    • Finish gen, then heal. Especially if it's almost done and we aren't in terror radius. (Some exceptions made for stealth, but still.)
    • Don't farm someone off the hook when a mori is in play like!!!!!!
    • If you get a fully safe unhook outside of the terror radius, just heal the person! Same if someone just unhooked you and tries to immediately heal, just do it! The number of times I've wasted more time following the unhooked person to some random corner than it would have taken me to heal them right there with We'll Make It is just stupid. Please. Just let me heal you. D:

    Killer:

    • I hate tunneling and camping. It's boring. And honestly unless the person is just being awful to me, there's no point. If I hit the unhooked person first and down them again after coming back to the hook, I at least try to find who unhooked them (giving them a little bit of a chance) before rehooking.
    • Don't smack survivors on the hook. Especially if they're in struggle phase. Let them get the small about of BP they can. And I'm talking repeated smacking. I understand the first smack cuts the scream short (I still don't get doing it, but I digress), but spamming the hits is just BM.
    • Ignore the survivor that's obviously baiting a chase. I don't like giving into it because I don't want to deal with the BM that inevitably come with it.

There's probably plenty of other things during game I think of, but these are the big ones for me.

Never understood the wiggle logic. If I want to give the hatch, I give it. If I don't, I won't. Their wiggling means nothing for me.

Maybe it's a power thing, but I want to like actually give it to them, not have them get it because they wiggled off my shoulder. If the survivor starts wiggling, I'll stop walking and shake my head. I'd say 9/10 times, the survivor gets it and stops wiggling. I give them the hatch. But if I do this and they continue to struggle, I just get annoyed that they're not accepting my mercy and I kill them. 🤷

I do the same as a survivor. Sometimes I just give up, but other times I'll wiggle, and if the killer shakes their head at me, I stop. I've gotten the hatch almost every time this way. Except for if it's a Trapper. Every Trapper that has done this has brought me to the hatch then hooked me near it and shut it in my face. 😂

  • If I can see the 4th survivor when I down the 3rd, I'll chase for a bit, but I won't commit too long to it sometimes. Then I go searching for the hatch/for the survivor. If I find the survivor before the hatch, I might give it to them (but not if they start struggling). If I find the hatch first, I close it and go for the 4k. But it's very rare I actually end up slugging for that 4k. Usually just happens if I think the slug might have DS and need to wait it out a little. (I don't intentionally go for the unhooked, but sometimes unhookers just disappear??? Like... where do they go.... And I just swing at whoever's there.)

  • Here's a pretty good list of how BP score events work for sacrifice! https://deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com/Bloodpoints#Sacrifice

Looks like you get 200 for each stage of the sacrifice and 500 each time you put someone on the hook. So if you 3-hook someone, I think that ends up being 2100 BP (if I'm understanding it correctly). But if they die on their first hook, you only get that first 500 and then the 600 for the three stages, so it's at 1100 BP instead.

  • Honestly? David/Pig. I was playing as David and got mori'd by Pig and my first thought was "oh, okay, yeah, she should top him."

  • Ivory moris aren't necessarily better? I got tunneled off hook because I was unlucky enough to be hooked first (even though we had left the area and the killer found the other person first AND HIT THEM AS WELL), and the killer had an ivory mori. I ended the game with 3k BP, and I've never been more angry about a mori in my life. It was also a clear cinematic, and I LOVE the mori cinematics, but I was so pissed off about getting tunneled when I shouldn't have been, just so this guy could get his one mori (which like??? I'm not good at looping, and not I'm moriable for the rest of the game, he easily could have gotten me another time).

Solution: all four survivors must be hooked once before moris can start. Or at least more than one survivor so that the poor first-hooked can't get farmed and tunneled and mori'd without even getting the chance to earn more than boldness BP.

  • I have, luckily, never gotten one of these messages. I've gotten a few GGs, but most people on PS4 don't seem to waste their time on me. HOWEVER, I was fully expecting some tonight because even though I was completing my rift challenges, I was still playing like garbage and getting teabagged by red ranks (I'm rank 17 killer for context). I was ready for them, but didn't get any. But if I had? My response would have been "I'm drunk lol bye."

  • I play on PS4, and yesterday I don't think I had a queue time longer than like 3-4 minutes. There are days that it's longer, but I still don't think I've gone past 5-10 for wait time. The thing that makes it feel long is that it's the only thing we're waiting for. It's like the logic of being at a bar: if the bartender doesn't acknowledge the new patron within like 10 seconds, the patron thinks they've been ignored for five minutes, even if it's really not that long at all.

I do notice queues are longer when I'm playing will my three friends (I think atm we're 2, 6, 9, 10 for ranks), and I'm sure the matchmaking is just trying not to give us below 15 for killers, but we do still end up with 12-13s (which matches 3 but not all of us), and then two games later we'll have 1-2 for the killer. When it was just me (10) and my 6 friend playing, queues were fast, but again we were getting matched mostly with yellow ranks for other survivors and the killers.

  • It totally depends on my mood, my teammates, and if I have any specific challenges. Do I have a get chased challenge? Hello, Killer, I'm coming to find you, let's have some fun. Am I feeling particularly chaotic stupid that day? Hello, Killer, let me run into you and get smacked. Are my teammates not actually getting gens done if I'm being chased? Goodbye, Killer, hello, Iron Will, time to sneaky sneaky and do gens.

I find both parts exciting for a balanced game, but how much I do for each really depends on other factors.

Also I'm still bad at looping even though I try lmfao.

  • I think that's something that survivors need to learn how to gauge, though. At this point, if I see NOED proc, I'll go searching for the totem, otherwise I'll Ieave. I feel like unless you've got a Styptic Agent and Borrowed Time and can run some crazy play with that, it's not worth it. I don't blame killers when survivors make stupid plays - I blame survivors. In general survivors just need to realize some people have to die for others to escape, and as a survivor, I will fully accept being sacrificed if it means the other three escape.

  • @PrettyFaceKate said:

It depends on the player. She's fun to face at pallets and tiles if the killer knows how to use their dash. On the other hand, the kind of Pig who tunnels hat wearers, or stealth camps hooks, is very dull to verse.

Came in to say this, basically. Number of times I've been tunneled at boxes trying to get the trap off my head when I'm the only one with one on and therefore not a threat to gens finishing makes me really dislike going against Pig. I've had one fun Pig game, but she was memeing.

  • It was between David and Adam, but I just love big beefy boi David so much. (Also because my main mans Steve wasn't an option.)

  • I play both sides, though I play survivor more, and I'm fine with the way NOED is. It's counterable by doing totems, and sometimes it doesn't even come into play because the killer sacrifices everyone before EGC. Just as main examples: when I play with friends, we count totems over comms and know if we got all of them to avoid NOED; when I play solo, most of the time people don't do anything, which means we all end up dying with like 2 gens done lmao.

I run it on my Doctor, but I think it's come into play maybe two or three times, and at most I've gotten one extra kill out of it. I don't necessarily think it rewards killers for failing because the killer still has to put themselves in the correct position, and secure hits and hooks for it to be worth it. I have had a game where NOED got me a hit, but it pushed the person out. No extra kill. Because I still played poorly.

Also, a lot of killers will specifically run endgame builds and combine NOED with Blood Warden, but I never see people commenting on how Blood Warden should be changed. NOED or not, the killer can still down someone after doors are opened and hook them, and then everyone else is stuck, making them more vulnerable. Unless I had a really terrible game and just want it over, it's not like I stop trying to do my killer objectives just because the doors are opened.

  • I teabag to be an idiot with my friends, to say hello to other survivors, to get the attention of other survivors, or to thank someone for healing me/if we finish a gen together. I think the ONLY time I've teabagged a killer was because we were all obviously ######### around in the game.

From killer perspective, I will purposefully avoid chasing a survivor that rushes and teabags me to get my attention. Most of the time, that person is the designated runner, and I've had instances where they've screwed themselves over constantly trying to get my attention, so really them teabagging doesn't annoy me. I only get annoyed if someone's teabagging at the exit because there's really no need for the final FU to the killer tbh. Fun to have Ghostface and teabag back at that point.

It doesn't affect any fairness or gameplay, so it really doesn't need to be addressed by the devs imo.

  • As killer, Iron Grasp. Whenever I play without it, I find myself really struggling to get to hooks. i just like the little bit extra security.

As survivor, Iron Will. (There's an Iron theme here.) It really helps if I'm trying to be sneaky for a moment, and just as a QOL thing, I don't like hearing the pain grunts lmao.

  • I'll usually go for the gen I spawn nearest to first (right there, and if killer didn't spawn close, easiest to get out of the way), and then my next goal is one more centrally located. My favorite is the one on the boat in the swamp map. Doesn't matter where I spawn, I do that boat gen first because of the foghorn noise; I just love it to much.

But totally agreed. It's important - especially in solo queue - to try to space out gens so you don't 3-gen and ######### yourself over in the end game.

  • I love the corn maps. I don't even escape them most of the time, but whenever I load into one, I'm like "CORN MAP CORN MAP" to my friends. Idk why but I find it so goofy, and I've had some of my most satisfying 360s in the corn (before inevitably getting caught and dying bc I'm just being an ass and spinning in the corn).
