  • The only thing I'd change is reveal the exposed once it lights, rather than the first time someone's hit.

  • Yeah, gotta love when you turn and look 180 degrees away from where the flashlight is, then a full second later still get blinded. If Dead Hard is getting validated on the survivor side, flashlights should be validated on the killer's side, because it's a serious setback in progress when you correctly avoided it.

  • It's the one plus of many killers leaving the game, I can afford to be picky with lobbies because the queues are really fast.

  • Sadako just has much more potential for a power. "7 days" as a curse, the well as a prop on the map, teleporting through televisions etc. Whereas Kayako is pretty much entirely just "she comes after you when you're cursed" which is pretty much just her being the killer, and hair. There's not a heap you can do with hair.

The only reason I'd want Kayako is for the very slim chance that they'd go for the American remake so we could have Sarah Michelle Gellar as a survivor and I could be Buffy.

  • Because it's a change that would require significant effort with no monetary reward. Nobody's holding off on buying a Legion skin because it's not voice acted by a different person, however it may be the determining factor on a legendary skin.

  • Add ons like this are the reason it took so much time and constant requests to get actual add on values displayed.

They didn't want us to see how truly garbage most of them are.

  • It makes no sense as a limitation when three of the strongest killers, Nurse, Spirit and Hag, count all hits as basic attacks even when it's from their power.

Who does it serve to limit from using the perk? Just random mid-tier killers because why the hell not?

  • I've played against Twins once, and they were a hacker that teleported onto everyone and downed them in seconds.

  • I'd rather see it reworked altogether. Even on the pre-nerfed version nobody ran it except Spirit.

  • Also, something that seems to go pretty overlooked; every other year we get frosty eyes for free on all the default killers. Now they're telling us that they're a reward for the event.

No, they're just showing that you put almost zero effort into the rewards for killers.

No, they are picking what is cheap IP that may get some clicks. When it comes to horror, Japan is not the top of the list. There are several better horror cultures. That said, they have to go with what they can get. It is not just about what sells. Otherwise, they'd have Jason Vorhees locked down tight.

You might enjoy other horror cultures, but they simply aren't considered widely popular. DBD is a Canadian game that largely targets the Western World. All of the horror icons we've had, regardless of where they come from, are popular figures in the west.

Japanese killers keep getting made because horror or not, Japan is popular. Like it or not, there's a huge amount of money to be made by securing the anime fans in your game's audience. The Ring and The Grudge also both got American remakes which cemented them in popular culture, and of the Japanese killers, Spirit is largely based on Kayako and we're now getting Sadako.

Again, you may like other horror cultures, but outside of their countries of origin, most are considered very niche. They probably will get sales on anything from the vets, but obtaining licensed IPs is one of the biggest factors in getting new people into the game, and "random Vietnamese horror movie you watched and loved and keep recommending to people who've never heard of it" isn't going to have that pull.

They don't have Jason because of licensing issues and court battles going on around ownership of the character. Simple as that. If he were available, he probably would have been in the first 4 licensed DLCs along with Myers, Freddy and Leatherface.

  • If you were hard set on an Aboriginal killer, the only ones of any notoriety would probably be a Bunyip, which is pretty much just the most vague water-lurker ever, or the Yowie, which is pretty much Bigfoot with a different name, and far more associated with a kid's chocolate than any form of actual lore.

Australia has much better horror icons in the form of Mick Taylor or someone more obscure but solid like Lola Stone. The Babadook got a lot of popularity briefly, but that's far more psychological than the monster doing stuff. In terms of survivors, Erin from You're Next would be a great addition, but the killers in that case were American.

  • It would take a lot of effort to find anyone in Australia who'd ever even heard of that.

  • As an Australian, I would enjoy seeing our rich culture in the form of Mick Taylor.

  • I like how many responses are "Umm, that would make a killer perk that would make some situations bad for the survivor."

Yeah, that's kind of the point. The perk is never run, EVER, because its effect is so abysmal it isn't worth it, and can accidentally be avoided altogether if the wrong person opens the gate. Regressing exit gates would actually be an interesting moment in the game because survivors would be forced to open the gates or play more risky games, because as of now every single game has gates 99ed until everyone is safe, healed and ready to bodyblock for each other to get out.

Also if "it could be bad when you're the last survivor and the hatch is shut so you're on your second-second-chance of free powered gates" were a concern, then No Way Out wouldn't exist.

  • Probably teleporting to televisions. Maybe limited by only being able to teleport when a survivor comes into range of one.

I'd also expect some form of mapwide pressure like Pig and Pinhead in the form of the whole "seven days" thing, which can be disrupted by interacting with a well, or by passing it on to a different survivor.

  • I'd take Sadako over her budget knock-off any day.

Spirit is like a placeholder until the real deal could be obtained.

Also, major plus, no goddamn annoying vacuum noises and WAHs in the lobby.

  • It happened because of changes in what merciless killer meant years ago. Now they can't change the achievements to be easier because consoles don't let them change any that are still possible, even if they're unintentionally way harder than they should be.

This achievement right here, is probably the hardest and most tedious one I've ever done

"But Shroompy! That one is easy!"

You're right! This is probably one of the easiest achievements out there! How ever I want you to pay attention to the date... realize that? This is when Old Legion was still a thing, and well, this achievement was a bit different. If you don't know how Legion used to be prior to their "rework", go read up on that and come back

Essentially, you needed to apply Deep Wounds to a Survivor, then you needed to Apply Deep Wounds to another Survivor, then you needed to go back to the first Survivor you stabbed and down them, all in one use of Frenzy

I went at this achievement as soon as I got a build on Legion, which was about a week after release since I rushed his P3 (He's my 7th killer I ever got to P3!)

I'll never forget the relief I felt when I finally completed it... I was so happy...

Yeah that as one hell of a rough week of achievement hunting for me. Super frustrating to try to get it to work.

  • They were badly implemented, untested with killer powers, and are only fun for one side.

Even when they aren't being abused for extra hits in a chase, they just aren't interesting at all.

One of these days we'll get a good event.

  • Yeah it happens because they refuse to nerf broken unenjoyable additions like boon totems, and then release an event that only survivors get to participate in while the killers just have to serve as a punching bag.

I'm fine with it being only for M1 killers if they make it strong enough, though opening it up to more killers would help new players that want to play Huntress.

I just want the perk to be better, even if they increased the regression a little or made it consistently hit more than 1 gen. The main thing I really want to see is the regression brought up to 10 and increase the range.

Basic attacks is a stupid requirement no matter which way you look at it. There's no point in trying to use it to limit it to weaker killers when two of the strongest killers in the game, Nurse and Spirit, have all of their downs considered basic attacks. It only really serves to rule out specific random killers, or punish weaker ones like Pig for using their power to get a down.

I've had multiple games using that garbage perk where it's hit no gens when I down people.

Again, even if it does go off thats 8% regression which is complete trash.

So it's 8% regression, can only be done by M1's, has a cooldown for whatever reason and it's range is tiny.

I'd love to have you find me a game where you get multiple gens explode since most maps are the size of Texas in this game.

Again the perk is just garbage compared to other gen regression perks, stop defending it and get the perk the buffs it deserves so new players can have fun too.

I didn't say it shouldn't be buffed. At the very least it should lose the basic attack requirement and possibly the cooldown as well, seeing as it is already inherently limited by requiring a second down.

I still think it's a solid perk. It has lower regression because it hits multiple gens at once, meaning it only needs to hit 2 to be more value than Pain Resonance.

It's a good perk in a 3 gen situation because every down can regress multiple gens.

The biggest reason I run it is if I'm using a killer like Deathslinger who is slow and has less map pressure, so being able to have gens regressing without taking the time to kick them is a big advantage, especially since if you find someone on a gen with him you want to shoot at them, not walk all the way up to the gen and kick it before chasing, giving them a huge head start.

  • When a rift closes you can still do the challenges for bloodpoints (the compendium tab on the archives menu) but you will not receive rift fragments any more.

All of the cosmetics in the rift will be unattainable until added to the store later (usually takes a year or two, if not more) but the charms will never be attainable again unless they change their mind in the future.

The only charms you can still get are the ones for completing each page of challenges.

Future tomes will not gain rift fragments when you complete challenges from past tomes, you must complete the current ones to progress on the rift.

Booning a hex takes way too much time and isn't worth it imo. Your better of just cleansing the hex instead.

It takes 24 seconds to bless a hex totem.

1/4 of your team is occupied during that action.

As a team, 6 seconds are lost by blessing the totem.

Therefore, if the killer takes any more than 6 seconds in the match to get rid of the boon totem (ie, you didn't go down directly on top of it so they had to walk more than 2 steps to it) then as a team you have gained net time.

If you get even a single heal out of the boon, you've saved one survivor 16 seconds, buying back 4 of the 6 seconds it took to light.

Now on top of that, we're considering Pentimento, so if you don't bless the totem you already have to cleanse it again, meaning your total time cleansing one totem is 28 seconds, more than the 24 it took to bless in the first place. And on top of that, there's the 30% slow to gen repairs which will stack up to a lot of time gained if the totem is not dealt with.

There is no good reason to not bless a totem instead of breaking it. There is far less reason to break it instead of blessing if Plaything is being used, because people ARE using it to get Pentimento to work. The only time I can see an argument for breaking a totem when you have a boon equipped is if they're ALSO running Thrill of the Hunt and it would take 48 seconds to break, in which case you can argue that it takes a hell of a long time and being interrupted is a realistic possibility.

  • I don't know what you're on about with this "It doesn't even hit 1 gen" nonsense. It regularly hits multiple gens.

The chance that it doesn't hit a single gen is about the same that you can't reach a scourge hook.

  • Just bad.

    Always has been.

  • If anything should cause exit gates to regress, it should be Remember Me.

This is just nerfing noed until it's a perk you never have to worry about again.

  • I dont give two shits about Stranger Things, but it was a missed opportunity to not wrap Demogorgon up in christmas lights that flash when he roars.

  • I hate that people treat it like one or the other.

I don't believe you can have a game like this where you compete against another team/player and have it not be competitive to some degree.

Just because it's a game and we play casually doesn't mean we can't also be competitive. I don't want to go into a match with an attitude where I'm not intending to win, but that doesn't mean that I'm running full meta every match and stressing that the RNG of a map hasn't favoured me etc.

It's very much middle of the road between a casual game and a competitive game, it has elements of both and I wouldn't call it decisively either.

  • Yeah I'm sure BHVR are just scrambling to see what they can learn from the game with an all time peak of 3k players.

He did have unneeded nerfs to his for fun builds such as the noticeable nerf to ALL dream pallet add-ons.

There is also the fact that most of his add-ons do nothing against good players now as a lot still rely on missed skill checks making them niche or are the above.

So he has less fun builds and has Mostly unneeded niche(and Under-powered) add-ons.

Mind you I don't even play him and I see why beyond power people don't play him.

"Fun" builds is such a bad argument though. Huntress is endless popular and the most interesting thing she's got is slightly faster wind up time.

Blight has plenty of add ons that do interesting things, but people only use the two most broken ones, regardless of how many "fun" builds he has.

Same for Nurse. No good Nurse needs add ons to win every match, but when was the last time you saw a Nurse running the weird and interesting things they added for her like blinking back to where you started? Nah, they all just run lower fatigue etc, not because they're "fun," but because they're just bluntly strong with no downside.

I agree Freddy's add ons are boring as hell and most would never have a significant impact on a match, but his power is still incredibly good and especially his teleport synergises with already strong perks better than nearly any killer in the game. Yes, a lot of add ons are based around skill checks, but that's not because they want to punish mistakes, it's because failing a skill check is meant to be an option to wake up, they just made the mistake of making too many ways to wake up without any real penalty that nobody uses the option.

Hell, my main killers are Plague and Pig. I never use add ons on Plague unless I have a difficult tome challenge, and on Pig I only really use brown and yellow add ons anyway. I also never used to run add ons on Deathslinger when he was still in the game. It's very possible to be good at most killers regardless of their add ons by just being good with their power. The reason people aren't playing Freddy isn't that his add ons are dull, it's that he's not hands-down brokenly OP any more and they want their free wins, so they jumped ship to Spirit, and probably hopped off her when she got toned down and moved on to Blight or something.

If you want to count it as a win then thats fine.

Still isn't an actual win though

It's not just the quote, it's that that was his justification for why SKILL based matchmaking disregards any sense of skill in favour of what happens in the final seconds of a match.

  • He barely got a real nerf. It just goes to show how many people only play something because it's blatantly stronger than it should be, then jump ship to the next strongest thing. He's still an incredibly strong killer, the only thing that sucks about him now are that his add ons are universally uninteresting, but his power is strong without them anyway.

I just wish other people had the ability to enjoy something for the way it works and how it plays, rather than sheerly playing based on strength.

It never directly stated that they are exclusives, but BHVR also never said they will be put out at a later date like for the rifts. Also looking at the context with prime rewards (Apex, GTA, and Fortnite are examples) they are either Currency to buy things in-game or exclusives, never something that comes out at a later time.

And if they aren't exclusives and coming out on a later date, keeping that information from people is scummy because they know people would spend $10 to get a skin with that extra incentive of the fear of missing out.

And for green outfits, a lot of people buy them with shards and if Bhvr strips green outfits to be rewards, people would no longer have that option.

Bhvr should just stick to currency tbh getting 500 ac is less than the price of one green outfit Which they already are giving away, so it's not like it's going to break the bank to do that instead of skins.

How is it $10 for a skin? I'm in Australia where we usually get overcharged for everything and prime is only $7, and on top of that it's 2 outfits so more like $3.50.

They didn't expressly say it's not exclusive, but they've said in the past no more exclusive cosmetics, only charms will be (And I guess the twitch shirts for streamers, but whatever) so I would assume that would include these.

Plus, it's prime gaming, if you're really going to be that upset over it, just use the free month they offer to claim the rewards, or see if a friend has prime and doesn't play dbd. It's not like other games where it links to your account, it's just a code to redeem.

  • Killer:

Spirit Fury: There's nothing like the moment of a pallet breaking over your head when you get to see a survivor absolutely flail and panic as they're about to take a hit because they waited for the stun. Bonus points if they took a hit to get the stun then go down instantly.

Monitor and Abuse: It has benefits on nearly any killer, except maybe those with lullabies. Being able to approach more stealthily is always a benefit, and when you're in a chase, survivors without line of sight may play more cautiously than before.

Pop Goes the Weasel: I know it's bland since it's been meta for a while, but I've used this perk since Clown came out when people called it garbage, and through a series of buffs and nerfs, and it's still one of the most satisfying and rewarding perks in the game.

    Survivor:

Detective's Hunch: Love the information and the ability to find hexes reliably, along with the added bonus of being able to plan to avoid 3-gen situations. Took a bit of a hit since boons replaced cleansing, and pentimento is now a threat if you want to remove noed, but it's still useful.

Fast Track: It's a bit passive, but there's something really fun about watching large chunks of generators get done on a single skill check just because your friends are dying.

Can't say I really have a third, it used to be Inner Strength but that's died with boons. Maybe Iron Will because I get seriously irritated by the constant noise of survivors when I'm not running it.

  • @eric_alrasid17 said:

It's fine if only one outfit, but 2 outfits kinda off.

They absolutely should have put the blue one in the in game store, and then released the purple one as the twitch reward to fit twitch's colours.

  • Nope, I think Shadowstep is strong, and losing scratch marks in the middle of a chase because of a perk that the person you're chasing isn't even using is pretty annoying, but I don't think it's anywhere near as broken as CoH.

The biggest factor is CoH translates to fast extra health states, so it competes for meta perk slots, whereas SS is just a stealth perk and people value perk slots too highly to prioritise them outside of Iron Will.

I don't see it as being a big issue just based on the fact that survivors don't bring it often at all, so it's not a constant source of frustration the way CoH is.

  • First, have they actually said anywhere that they're exclusive? Like rift content they probably will come to the store soon enough. Prime gaming rewards is just a way of advertising the game to people who are already involved in gaming.

Though I will absolutely admit that I pointed out to my friends when Artist came out that it was pretty strange how she didn't get the usual amount of skins a killer gets on launch. She has less recolours, her weapon is skipped in most of the recolours, and she only got 1 unique outfit. I'm all for putting skins on Prime gaming (not in the least because it's cheaper to buy Prime for a month than it is to buy a skin, without even considering free trials being used to claim the rewards) but I think it's a bit questionable to take skins that would have been available to everyone with any other killer and cutting them out for the reward.

That said you would have had to pay for them anyway so who cares really?

  • Boy I can't wait to see Haddonfield with 20 breakable walls, half of which can never be broken without creating an infinite, and the other half of which must be broken to stop something else being infinite.

  • I think what needs to happen is they need to devote a whole hour to testing the event. I know, that might seem extreme, but sometimes extreme measures are needed to make things work.

They should boot up a custom game with each killer, and at least once for each of them, use their unique power to interact with the event object. That may also seem excessive, that's like a whole 26 matches of at least a minute each, but it would go a long way to preventing some killers being entirely screwed over while others ignore the prop altogether and instadown survivors through it. The same should be done for maps as well, but having to check 26 whole powers every 3-6 months to ensure they don't break with new inclusions is a bit much, let's just leave it at a once-yearly event level for now.

On top of that, they might also consider having someone play the killer role in testing, and ask "how was your experience with this new inclusion?" and not completely ignore them when their response is something like "having to hit survivors an extra time really isn't an event, or fun in any way."

  • I wouldn't say double calm.

Run calm with the one that reduces the cooldown of the blast, that way you get more chances.

Perks like Lethal Pursuer, Discordance, etc can tell you when multiple people are gathered together as well which helps.

  • Springwood.

First, it's 4 strong survivor buildings all connected by a big circle of relatively safe pallets.

Second, it has the absolute worst breakable walls. They're all legitimately terrible to break because every single one opens up an even more painful loop.

Third, even when you deal with it, they decided for some insane reason to make 5 version of the same map, so whenever you spawn on it you still have no idea where anything is.

  • I completely agree.

The fact that the entire event for killers is just hitting survivors an extra time is pretty much worse than no event at all. Honestly, WHO would look at all the discussions about how broken Dead Hard is at the moment and think "wow, christmas event should be an extra health state for survivors!"

The rewards are really mediocre, who ever uses frosty eyes beyond their first week? Oh boy, a reskin of a Wraith weapon so bland you'd never even notice it wasn't default!

On top of that, there's only 10 drops. For most people they're gonna be done collecting them in a day and then just spend the time working out how to abuse snowmen to make every chase 4 health states long.

If there was an option to queue normal matches without the event, then I'd have no problem with it, but being forced to go into the match with survivor being given a significant advantage for what will be basically no reward for many of us, means I feel fully justified in being annoyed at the other side demanding we play how they want instead of wanting to actually play a match for two weeks.

  • Regardless of the strength or balance surrounding snowmen, I am firmly against the design decisions of this event.

Events should let BOTH sides participate.

The survivors get to play around in snowmen and do stupid #########, but the killer's entire event is just hitting survivors an extra time to not injure them. That's a joke and it really does say a lot about who BHVR want to keep happy and who is just the punching bag there to do it.

  • People don't like playing against any killer that makes them think about how they run if they can't run it like a 115 killer with no power.

But seriously, a string of ranged killers is what happens when you refuse to make any form of systemic changes to the game to make anything but chase killers relatively viable.

  • Yeah, they probably could have at least put in the bare minimum effort of at least having a pop up every day. Slightly more than that and they could have put some sort of Christmas border around the pop up, or better yet actually had an advent calendar to open in game.

Remember when they said we were getting better events?

1 … 16 17 18 19 20 … 70
