It is commenting something that can make the game better. It'll make them realize what a travesty of an unfun killer she is to go up against as survivor and hopefully change her soon.
-
My thing is they wanted to force people to play The Rift and what not so they tied their biggest holiday event as a horror game to it. That was their first mistake. They should have just kept them seperate and that'd save them a lot of the pain of hearing people complain.
-
I don't hate the game. I love it.
I'm disappointed in it's current direction and feel like the devs are slowly gonna kill it going down this path. It's headed down the way of Overwatch where they try to ''balance" and end up just making everything a bigger more frustrating mess to play.
That and they legit have some sort of delay or issue every other update it seems so it just gets tiresome.
But you can't really go anywhere, because they've successfully cornered the market on this type of game. Friday is dead, every other game that's tried either killed itself or no one even gave it a fair shake.
So it's like ''If you wanna play this type of game. This is your one choice."
-
Lol. Who's ready for a Scary Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner with Huntress and Trapper?
Come through Thanksgiving the true scary holiday!

Imagine, a halloween event during halloween...
That'd be asking for too much.
-
I love that a Halloween event is postponed with no real estimated date in a horror game.
Amazing. Truly. 🙄
-
Just cause someone is Leatherface doesn't mean they camp though. I've went up against plenty of Leathers in the past who were good boys who just tried to the best of their ability without having to resort to bad manners type #########.
So no I don't automatically assume someone is gonna camp depending on the killer they are, because sometimes it'll be like god damn Spirit camping and you're just like ''Really #########? Best killer in the game probably and you gonna sit your Waluigi ass right here in front of my face?"

Yeah, i've never understood it either. Isn't it boring to do that? To never interact with the Killer and just do gens like mad? I get it's a tactic, but so is camping technically. No one likes camping. I Will legit get to the point I open the gate for them if that's all they want.
This was me the other night playing Huntress. I did everything perfectly hooked them all once and some twice. Never missed a hatchet, but once my Ruin was broken fairly early on after that? It was over by the sheer fact of the map I was placed on and her movement speed. It became ''Quick use the Ironworks Loop at every chance! Let's Balanced Landing everywhere as well!"
It felt absolutely horrible to play to the best of your ability and still get teabagged at the exit gate that you opened for them because at that point it was now 4 adrenalines and no chance.
It wasn't even about the fact I didn't get the kills, but the fact that you can play this game perfectly and still not really say you were rewarded in any sort of way other than toxicity at the exit gate.
Wow you sure showed me you guys. You sure showed me. 🙄

I see a pretty big variety, even the past few months at red ranks.
I wish, I see Spirit, Hillbilly, Freddy, and the odd Ghostface. No one else. I'd probably see Nurse if you know....console didn't make her a complete chore to play.
-
And Jesus, it's not about ''let me get the hit." It's about the fact, you willingly know you are playing something that is hellaciously overpowered because you know it's going to make the other player feel some type of way.
No one is taking those strong loops and not thinking ''Haha, got you!" in a little bit of a ######### way. I do it, you do it, we all do it. Doesn't mean it's fun. I don't find it fun to win that chase because of bad game design, and the player you did it to isn't having fun on the receiving end of the bad game design that is some of those loops.

The chase in never the same, unless I face a trap less Trapper every game which isn’t the case.
I mean at the current lack of variety in killers for various different reasons? Yeah. You're pretty much having the same chase over and over, give or take depending on the player you are against. At some point it all just boils down to player knowledge and errors and less about the variety in killers...because again....most people are playing a variety of killers these days.
I legit saw Bubba for the first time in a month and a half last night and I legit let out a gay excited gasp of happiness....
He then proceeded to camp (horribly) and then tunneled everyone who got away. It legit was this personified:

@GrootDude said:
What if looping is fun for me? What if Dead hard, Iron Will and DS are fun perks for me? I like getting chased, dead hard helps that goal against every killer and iron will makes spirit easier to keep going. DS kinda stops tunneling letting me have more fun.
Your definition of fun isn’t the same as everyone else’s because fun is subjective.
If you're legit having fun playing the same stale stuff over and over and over repeating the same chase countless times, etc, etc. Then good for you?
But anytime I'm in a match where I just see someone playing super paint by numbers. ''QUICK RUN TO THE OVERPOWERED BUILDING LOOP!" or dead harding for distance, or just seeing a killer slugging everyone literally seconds into match. I really don't understand how it could be fun to do this over and over and over and over.
-
Spirit turns me into this literally:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=92IkddsjtAAI can't wait till they gut her like her father did to get her trapped in The Entity's realm in the first place.

Every time I try and play something silly or off meta I get those teams you hear about that just crush gens then are complete douchebags in post. Every. Single. Time.
And that's on them, not you. I for the live of me will never understand either side loving to crush out 5 generators/never interacting with the killer. Getting an easy 4k that doesn't even reward you with lengthy chases.
What's the point of waiting for the lobby if you're actively trying to end it that soon?

Except you don't win any cash prizes in Dead by Daylight, there is no reward or incentive to rank higher and higher in this game.
If anything, staying in the middle is where you'll find the most fun as a player. And that's where the game feels the most rewarding. You beat the other side with your skil.
I refuse to believe this game is as competitive as some people make it out to be, because a competitive game wouldn't have addons that can completely change the tide of the game on both sides.
Right? It'd be like if Overwatch allowed Tracer to blink like she does, but also her bullets were one shots.
Or if Street Fighter gave Ryu a fireball that instantly burned through an entire healthbar.
Basically DBD is about as competitive as Mario Kart. Some of the add ons and items legit are no better than a blue shell in Mario Kart.
-
Lol. People who think their rank matters are the worst. Your rank isn't your skill. Your rank is your time played that season. Nothing more. Nothing less. Sure, if you play the game a lot you're probably going to have a slight edge.
But is there really any skill if your perks gave you information as to where the killer/survivor was, made the chase easier, etc. There is no skill to current DbD. It's all a bunch of meta perks that do the hard work for you.
So as someone said rank is just nothing more than a matchmaking tool. It's a hollow ass number that means nothing and if you're playing to make sure you're the highest...why?
-
The developers absolutely are to blame as @Speshul_Kitten suggests. They have added things that deliberately make people want to be toxic. They keep adding these things.
It's why I have like 50/50 respect for them. They say they want a casual fun DbD experience for everyone, but perks and items and add-ons they continue to add suggest otherwise.
-
I don't even consider these the main reasons console is worse.
PS4's playerbase has to be the shittiest playerbase I have ever seen on both sides. Hard camping, tunneling, instaheals galore, BNPs and Green Toolboxes most matches.
A map offering is burned 70 percent of the time either by the survivors or the killer.
I don't think anyone on PS4 has ever played this game at it's base level or as close to it as possible. There's always something that is played to try to make the matches completely unfun for either side.
I have literally almost given up on it.
-
Not a Doctor Main, but I hope his rework/buff whatever is purely about making him less obnoxious to go against.
As it stands there's no reason to play Doctor unless you just want to piss off other players. He's not in a good enough state to be a killing machine, but more just ''How can I piss off other people today?"
-
The game feels the worst it's ever felt to play on both sides to me. Survivor if solo is a god damn chore of annoyance to get through.
Killer is slightly better, but there's still way too many problems with loops, windows, maps, survivor items, etc.
I've come so close to calling it quits on the game, but I can't bring myself to because I genuinely love it's concept.
-
People think rank matters and is a true measure of their skill when it's really not so they in turn get salty about the fact they were beaten.
Removing rank from this game entirely imo would make it into a far more casual experience that people wouldn't be so salty and unnecessary towards one another about.
At least to a degree I believe.

Switch probably has the smallest player base by quite a margin, so I can't say I'm surprised
I found a match as survivor no problem though. Lol.
-
I have no idea how you rework LF but this ain't it.
The only other thing I've thought of would be a secondary power dealing with the hooks since he used meathooks in his movies...but that might be way overpowered if not careful.
-
I'm a rank 10 killer. Survivor I think I'm currently rank 3 or 4? Either way...
I've now had 4 games back to back to back, where I had survivors bordering the red ranks and one that was actually rank 3 and 4 while the other two were 16 and 12.
I'm a very casual player in general, but especially at killer. I don't want to have to sweat to books on tape to enjoy playing my favorite killer.
-
I'm just stuck to this ''She's hard to play like Huntress and Nurse."
Huntress: Knowledge required of what you can and can't throw over, whether things are in the line of your shot, where the survivor is going, the ability to aim well and actually execute the shot. Dish out pressure as a 110 killer.
Nurse: Determine the length needed to hold your blink, determining where your blink is gonna land, predicting where the survivor is going to go, Knowing how blink up and down through platforms, how to chain your blinks without stunning yourself.
Spirit: Hold button, go invisible, go woooooooosh or not at all if you're running Prayer Beads, follow scratch marks a very common killer tracking technique, bam, you hit survivor/down them. GGEZ GIT GUD SURVIVORS.

Let’s say hypothetically she wasn’t invisible while phasing...why should survivors be invisible to her then? That’s not particularly a fair trade off. That would be like Huntress blindly throwing a hatchets but the survivor knew exactly where to dodge and she didn’t know their location.
Because if they're not invisible? She becomes the same problem she is now. Overpowered.
You're asking her to have a tell, but still have all the power she currently has. If she's visible to survivors it really changes nothing. Because a good Spirit is still going to track based on the sound of the survivor and the scratches.
She's still getting easy free hits with your suggestion. That's her current problem. She has no tell to her ability. She gets free hits.
If she's visible and can see survivors now too when using her ability? She's still gonna be getting the hit. Even more likely now to get that hit than she ever was.
You're just asking for her to be unbalanced in a different way than what she is right now.
-
@MegMain98 said:

If she’s a ghost then why she survivors be able to see her while she is phasing though? You can’t see Nurse when she’s blinking...you only see a white stripe.
She's onryo. Japanese ghost lore doesn't follow the ''I'm invisible" and all the famous horror onryo were NEVER invisible. They were always in your face with creepy ass twitching and movements they made towards you.
So her being an invisible ghost? Doesn't even make sense with her ''Died in the grip of a powerful rage." Japanese horror ghost lore in the first place.
-
Agree to disagree. The fundamental problem with Spirit is even the most baseline beginner Spirit is gonna have a good time and get a pretty easy 4k against even good survivors.
She's very low skill gap, very high reward.
The complete opposite of Huntress and Nurse. A pretty high skill gap for a significant reward.

If she’s visible than survivors should ALSO be visible to her. That’s only fair.
That would then turn her into the easiest killer in the game to play and we don’t want that now do we?
Do you really think that’s the smartest idea?
I mean she's kind already easy to play. That's the problem. Lol. Just have ears.
Bam. You're a good Spirit.

I am a Nurse main indeed. People tell me my opinion doesn't count cuz of that.
Well that's just rude and not at all what I was trying to say. Your opinion is just as valid as anyone else's. Screw anyone who says otherwise.
I'm just saying when you're use to that high level of mobility in a killer. You're gonna feel like anyone else is considerably weaker is all.
-
@CrowFoxy said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/721662#Comment_721662
But her mobility is so bad and looping is so easy she isn't a very strong killer.
I mean no offense, but you have Nurse as your avatar, so I'm gonna assume you think that mobility is everything to pressure and to a degree, yes, but at the end of the day. Any of these killers can put out pressure in the right hands.
And n injured person in a loop is far easier to down than an uninjured one.
Plague is A LOT stronger than people give her credit for her. She's not in the top tier or anything, but she's definitely not a weak killer by any means. If people don't cleanse against you. You're going to down them faster in chases either by your skill or by the means of just bloodlust 1 most likely.
If you have people cleansing against you? Congrats, your job is easier as well.
-
I don't think Plague is OP necessarily, but the perceived counter isn't really a counter.
Sure, you cleanse you give her a Huntress like ability with half the need to aim. It's very strong.
But staying sick is also very strong. It will cut any and all chases down tremendously against a good killer. A skilled player playing Plague will know how to counter loops and mindgame them and get her hit.
So ultimately for a good Plague the ''counter" is win/win for them. They either get a souped up vomit or they get an easy down in a loop/chase.
It's kind of huh in terms of balance when you step away from it and look at it objectively.
-
Seriously though. I'm so sick of Spirit that I almost want my 8 dollars back for buying her. I've grown to dislike her and constantly playing against her that much.
The person I feel for most is NotQueen to be honest. She's voicing the most annoying killer for a lot of people and she seems like a nice sweet lady.
-
She's visible at all times.
She now requires skill to get hits with her power and is basically the ghost version of Billy. Take away her woosh sound in general to make up for the fact she's now not an invisible guessing game that only takes a good set of headphones and ears to use.
-
I personally kind of love that Freddy sounds like Scary Terry from Rick and Morty in a way.

-
Wraith? Tunnels?
*Amanda oinks in Pig*
Seriously, the tactic of using a bear trap to locate and tunnel an unhook person if there are 3 or more people in the game? Trashy and unfun to play against.
-
I'd like to clarify my Billy comment from earlier to be honest.
I feel at base kit? He's fine. He's what a killer should be. He's strong, he's fun to play, and he's fun and scary to play against for survivor, but also can be countered.
The problem with him? He became an utter monster of balance issues when some of the perks that have since come out came out. Newer aura reading and location info perks give him the means to 4k super easily.
You don't even need generator stalling perks on him, yet people will run them.
His biggest weakness is looping him and making him into an M1 killer, but that goes away with Enduring and Spirit Fury and he basically is back in business before you know.
TLDR?
A Hillbilly running Ruin, Enduring, Spirit Fury, and BBQ? He's gone from one of the most polished and balanced killers to an over the top monster.
So it's less about Billy and more about being able to stack such powerful perks onto an already powerful killer.
-
Licensed content brings new people into the game that otherwise wouldn't have come in.
I feel like the biggest thing that helped this game thrive in it's early life was the Payday 2 crosspromotion and the fact that they snagged such a horror icon in Michael Myers to join the roster. He's one of the top 3. The slasher of slashers that even people who don't watch horror know.
He's how I came to hear about the game for example.
Both licensed and original content have it's place IMO.
-
Plague.
She's not really evil. She was a good woman of faith who tried to do her best for her people and ended up unknowingly contracting a sickness that lead them to their doom and her to the Entity's hands who is manipulating her and her religious views to get what he wants out of her.
-
Old Feral Frenzy had no counterplay. You were going to get hit. Then you'd probably get tunneled down with a multi hit ability because they had a way to down you with the ability, which in itself was not only annoying, but not even good killer design, because you were taking 3 or so hits to do something you could do in two or even one on a lot of killers.
And sometimes if you were really ''lucky" you'd get the moonwalking ######### who'd just walk backwards from you to make it so you weren't in a chase and get downed anyways.
It was bad design through and through for everyone involved.
New Feral Frenzy is still annoying, but there's many ways (too many maybe?) to break a Legion out of it.

The only reason to use a mori is the Daily Ritual. Of course i only use it after 2nd hook so technically it is not gamebreaking or anything. In my opinion Moris should be changed or even removed. Whats the point of getting less bloodpoints, less playtime and less fun?
I'm not for them being removed. A lot of them are great animations that clearly were well thought out. I do think they just need to make the conditions to achieve them harder though.
And get rid of or change the yellow mori completely. It's pretty useless.
Hell, I find the animations of most moris so cool? I wouldn't be opposed to if they just were removed but put into base, so you feed the Entity's power twice and it in turn feeds you and the next time you down someone? You can kill them outright.
You get the points, they get the points, everyone has fun and everyone gets a cool little cinematic element to the game.
Then BHVR can get in the business of selling new ones on the store for all the killers.
-
I think BHVR just needs to start looking at perks and making some more stuff for both sides in general that are gonna drive people towards them as alternatives to the current stale meta of seeing the same 10-15 perks in every lobby on both sides.
Head On was a good start on survivor. Inner Strength is probably going to be as well.
But we still need stuff that totally gets people away from the Ruins, Sloppys, Adrenalines, Decisives and stuff.
I'd think it'd help out the game a little until they figure out how to shake up the gameplay in another way.

Well that’s just it, you want them to use you fountains so can get corrupt purge. Most high ranks players refuse to cleanse themselves because Plague is just an M1 killer if no one chooses to cleanse. I usually run Thanaphobia on her because it forces survivors to choose between Corrupt Purge or slower action speed.
Do you play on PC or Console? Cause I swear I'm the only red/purple rank survivor on PS4 who tries to not give Plague her Corrupt Purge but end up having to sigh and go ''I suppose." and heal anyways because the Blendette on the team couldn't go with a little light cough and needed to heal right away.
Either way? I personally find Plague super strong in the right hands and drastically underrated. Her counterplay most people have adapted of not healing still leaves them in a one hit state for the entire game. So if you're good at mind games and chases as a killer?
You can outskill a survivor pretty well.
Then if you're a lucky SOB you get the survivors I get on my team who heal constantly and give you a spray and pray from hell.
-
I laugh at comments as if Kate's current voice is any better.
She sounds like a dying bird or Banjo from Banjo Kazooie getting mutilated when she gets hit.
''GAH HUH!" Kate screams as the Trapper slashes her back.
-
@Star99er said:
NGL, if there are 3 or more survivors running medkits I’ll go Plague just to counter them. “No insta heals on my watch!”
Then the jokes on you (and sometimes them depending on your skill with Corrupt Purge) because they just instaheal with the fountains anyways.
I've honestly never quite gotten why survivors completely heal using a fountain and not just purge the sickness out of them.
I suppose it's probably a balance thing to go along with the risk of giving Plague super-vomit? But then it can't be that, because most Plagues are just gonna run the add on that gives her it when a generator pops anyways. So....yeah.
-
I'll use moris for dailies.
I'll sometimes use a mori on certain killers just cause they have cool mori animations.
But I always try to not make it unfun for the survivors and just go ''Okay hooked you once. Let's get you out of the game right now."
