Originally people hated "Forever Freddy" builds which involves slowing the game down to a crawl and while it was nerfed/fixed there are people that hold some lingering resentment.
These days the most common complaint about Freddy is how strong he is with little skill required. Killers like Spirit, Nurse and Huntress are very good but they require some commitment to learn, whereas you can get to a somewhat decent level after 3-5 games as Freddy.
You should be able to dominate with a Spirit with a half-decent headset and basic ability to track scratchmarks. I'd probably not say Spirit is one of the easiest killers to master, but doesn't take much commitment at all to not be deaf, since her "counters" are extremely limited, if truly existent at all and not just dumb luck.

The issue is that some meta perks are gamechanging for example:
Unbreakable: slug full team becuz they doing the dumb instead of escape. While hooking someone stand up and heal a team making a 4k a 2k or less. One perk on one player its gamechanging and that cant be. Killers doesnt have a skill such powerful in a specific situation.
Dead hard: No need to say its to extend the chase but should have a downside not to say the common BT + dead hard combo (btw for those who say its once per chase if it would recover while chase wouldnt have sense).
Adrenaline:Its a perk for saving you yeah but you get one heal plus much distance thats no sense (NOED can be denied but drelanine have no downside compared to NOED)
DS:Despite devs say its not an antitunel perk (but it activates if you tunnel survivor pr even without it) its a perk that gives 1 min inmunity so you arent scare of him during one min? Plus you can do stuff like cleansing and such. 1 min inmunity no downside? (haunted grounds need a requirement that may happen or not. You will get hooked eventually on normal games.
BT: body blocking its unfair it should make survivor be able to go throught killer like when u hit him for 20 secs as the skill is to avoid tunneling (right devs?)
If you combine em together you make 4 persons with superpowers plus comms make game unfair as hell.
Ummm, killers have Devour Hope, Noed, Blood Warden - among others - that give them additional gamechanging downs/kills, not to mention moris.
Dead hard still already has considerably downsides since it's a gamble and already gives you exhaustion.
Adrenaline is earned by finishing 5 gens, 400 seconds of work, usually more with gen-slowing stuff and getting chased around the map. Noed is literally a reward for failing to do your objective. They're polar opposites.
I know most of these killers complaining about these perks are probably 200 hour babies who just don't know how to play and counter looping, but yikes. DS could probably use some improvements still, but it's as good as it's ever going to be.
-
You already have to be slugged to use unbreakable. It inherently has a "bad" side.
Dead hard is already a huge gamble, assuming the killer will hit then as well as assuming latency won't work against you, and you're only given a few feet.
Your adrenaline nerf makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
This is the most exclusively killer main tier thread I've seen in awhile, good job.
-
Because he's ezmode and his snares can't really be dodged or avoided at loops while being near instantly placed down. Also how many people use one of the easiest builds in the game with him with just gen-slowing stuff (only close competition is spirit fury+enduring+instasaw billy).

Literally, if you are this upright about moris, you must be not good enough to beat them then... see how it can sort of go both ways, and im rank 1 both sides sooooo yeahhh. also they earned the hatch? thats pretty laughable seen as the game has the potential to end in about 4 - 5 minutes. also i got loads of keys in my bloodweb and no moris at all, so that argument is completely out the window, friend.
it doesnt take much effort for a survivor to press m1 on the hatch either.
see. your argument doesnt really hold up all that well does it? there are a million reasons from map design to second chance perks that, put together, make keys extremely overpowered. the killer has ALMOST none of this.
so yeah, your argument makes no sense, sorry ;/
I have 6,000 hours in this game. You can't loop non-potato killers 5 gens anymore. "Git gud" just doesn't apply, since they've balanced the game enough (it's still unbalanced) to where survivors are not able to endlessly loop. There aren't enough pallets, there are always massive dead zones, there are few strong windows, etc., I very much doubt you're the survivor god you're making yourself out to be here, or you just are bluffing - which is the most likely. You cannot be "good enough" to "beat" a mori unless the killer has no idea what they're doing.

I mean, the killer still has to find, chase, down, hook, re-find, chase, down, mori. So its not as easy as pressing m1 on the hatch and everyone escapes like keys are.
also, it doesnt get rid of the ability to gen-rush and loop the killer on nigh-infinite loops. ebony moris are fine in the current iteration of the game, and are very rare in the bloodweb for a reason.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1238143#Comment_1238143
its not rare if you have a swf that know what theyre doing, but alright i understand that most of the time 4 people wont be alive when 5 gens are powered. what about the cases where, lets say, 2 people are still alive and 2 gens need to be done. it will go from a fairly even match to, hey, guess what. your patrolling a generator as killer and you see that the last 2 people have escaped. wow, that has such great counter-play and fullfilling gameplay, even if you play PERFECTLY as killer (bearing in mind if you loop the killer hard enough ebony mori wont come into play), then you can just get ######### over by a very rare, (not even ultra rare), item.
and the craziest thing, you can find them in chests, so you cant always equip the necessary things to deal with it pre-game.
lol 2 gens left with 2 survivors isn't even remotely even. once one even gets hooked, it's basically game over.

THIS PERK MAKES THE GAME UNBEARABLE AS KILLER AND NOTHING IS DONE?!
Tough game against a four man SWF?
How about they know exactly what your doing and call it out on Coms?
Im talking Red ranks here which we all know this perk is easily the most abused in the game and yet nothings been done as if this is an acceptable way to have the game played?
This perk makes Hag and Trapper literally IRRELEVANT.
Never mind creating unfun games that make you actively want to DC as Killer.
Either REMOVE IT or give me a warning in lobby that object is being run so i can dodge these trash abusers.
You can't genuinely think OoO is "the most abused" perk in the game. As killer at red ranks, I run into it 1/20 games. It's still a very high risk perk.

Ever since they changed rank reset to only reset you back... 5 ranks (I think?), matchmaking has been really bad.
They should really revert those changes, and you would probably see this a fair bit less.

I believe that prior to searching for a match, that players should have to lock in their loadouts, excepting offerings.
But then how are survivors supposed to cooperate? They already have a limited amount of time to discuss different things they can cooperate on. The game is already really bad for solo survivor, this would just make it even worse.
The only real solution, imo, is to make all perks, items, offerings, etc, visible before match, both for survivor and killer - and show survivors who are in a SWF together, or make ALL of those things hidden, both for survivor and killer. Possibly with the exception of killer add-ons.
You shouldn't be dodging lobbies just because survivors bring items anyway.

it isnt a reward for failing though, at least not on the killlers side. Its a penalty for the survivors failing
that makes no sense at all. It only activates if the survivors have successfully finished their objective. It's 100% a reward for failing.
Like most perks, NOED should be reworked to be earned by the killer. At this point, it just rewards failure - your comment makes zero rational sense.

Thing is, killer actually needs to earn a mori by hooking a survivor before they kill them. giving the survivor a second chance.
With keys, all 4 people can escape straight away without even the red key being needed and without the killer getting any form of second chance
They have to repair 5 gens and survive through the end for all 4 to escap. 4 survivors escaping using a key is far, far, far more rare than a 4k with an ebony mori.
-
@Dr_Trauts said:
moris are perfectly fine and dont need to be changed imo
lol ebony moris are definitely 100% not fine
You have to do barely any of the work you should, if you're an even remotely competent killer, an eoby mori is a near-guaranteed 4k.
I think ivory and cypress are fine as is.

They'll do it when they get around to making changes to those killers. There's a reason they haven't released any (good) exhaustion addons since exhaustion no longer recovers while running.
Only one they released is demo but his is completely avoidable, just dont walk on a portal.
It doesn't matter how long the exhaustion is, if it's anymore than 5 seconds, it's basically a complete disable, these addons use to delay exhaustion perks, but they would come back. They're just an outdated design that'll get reworked when the killer does.
Highly doubtful unless people push for it. They said they'd consider looking at them after they changed exhaustion - ages ago - but they haven't mentioned it since and there's no sign that they will.
-
@BastardKing said:
Kinda like how a 16 second channel can remove a killer's perk for an entire game? How is that for comparable?
There are only 3 killers who can render you exhausted. Huntress is probably the most dangerous/overpowered, and her brown add on should be a green, her yellow add on should be a purple, and the green should just not exist. Even with that, her durations should be shorted a lot.
Clown can apply it the easiest, and in mass, but he is also the worst killer whose power does almost nothing. Being able to take away exhaustion with a yellow add on isn't ridiculous for a power that is otherwise so weak.
And Pig has to down you first, so the exhaustion doesn't matter too much unless you waste a lot of time before you remove the traps.
Obviously Huntress is the main issue with them. But the fact that they never revisited them at all after exhaustion was changed is insane.
-
@Big_Soup said:
I think first we should worry about the killers that aren't viable at all and get them buffed up before we start nerfing/changing the only 3 viable killers, at least then the game would have some variation instead of Nurse, Spirit and Billy every game. (Legion please come back i miss you) :(
Every single killer is viable. Just because you yourself need OP killers to win doesn't negate that.

I always juke spirits at rank 1 and dont get it. why are people bad. Even one of my fav dbd players, ussylis thinks she broken. Just remove the anal beads.
lol I always instantly know people who say this nonsense are 100% lying or never play Spirits, or are console.
-
None of those. The problem with Spirit is that the survivor is effectively deafblind against her in a chase. You cannot counter that which you have NO visual or NO audio cues of. Spirit has both visual and audio cues in chases. This makes her insanely unfair... it's honestly mind-boggling that there are people who don't understand how absurdly broken she is and think this sort of mechanic is in any way justifiable or rational. Her ability gives her an insanely unfair advantage over the survivor, an advantage which no other killer has in any way, shape, or form, leaving a survivor so clueless or with no information to counter them.
And sorry Spirit mains, just because you need an OP/broken killer to get 4ks doesn't mean she is the only viable killer. People saying she's fine or just needs a couple of minor tweaks have zero regard for game balance.
-
It would be nice if they would specify what exactly it is, I'm assuming it's a lot of the issues with the Nurse rework. Hoping it's by Friday... Or at least they extend it more into November.
-
It's against a red rank Huntress, not sure what your point is.

It is quite fascinating there are players in this community like depipd squad who manage 4man escapes vs nurse without any perks at all. Then there are people who claim the nurse is completely broken.
Sorry maybe just get good? Is the same people say to every killer that complains about loops.
lol imagine being this out of touch with reality.
Nurse is objectively broken. It isn't opinion. She has no counters. Doubling back, trying to use corners to your advantage, etc., do not work past a certain point. No killer should be guaranteed a four man kill, and a decently skilled Nurse is - even without addons.
But it goes without saying that this board is overwhelmingly killer-main since all you guys really want is free kills.

Downvoted since this is just silly. He's a Killer who CAN down you in one hit if you are not observent. If you pull him out he's just another M1 killer with a lot of latex and a very long cooldown.
Considering how spotty the detection is, that's a really massive stretch. The number of times he's gotten me exposed staring straight on at him from a few feet away with him centered in the screen is already far beyond what I can count, for much longer than the required 1.5 seconds.
-
I got 100% but I had to look up a few. A couple of the lore ones and addons I never use specifically.

No....... shes the killer that was implemented to take on SWF and the cream of the crop.... the only time itll be okay to make changes to her is when the team finally takes care of the maps...... and the objective to where it's not possible to end a game in 4mins or less... then she can be toned down maybe just a tiny tiny bit....... it's also difficult because in her current state she does something that the majority of characters dont do...... reward for playtime...... also shes still next to unplayable on console.
Nurse is objectively broken. A killer who completely ignores survivor's only real defense and is near-guaranteed a 4k every game with even a basic level of familiarity of her ability on almost any map is broken. She has no real counter, as adamant as many killer mains are about the "lulz mindgames" of doubling back, which is not a real counter to begin with, and a couple of other things that work with exactly zero rank 1 nurses that 4k virtually every single game despite survivors' skill. She's Legion-pre-nerf tier broken, but the devs refuse to do anything because killers just want their free kills.
-
Why incentivize stealthy play as survivor? It's virtually never good for teamwork, that's only a very good strat if you're looking to be the last survivor for hatch. Teamwork should be rewarded, not selfish, dead weight play. One of the reasons perks like urban evasion should have a cooldown.
-
The countering detection is EXTREMELY messed up but idk if I'd use the term 'op'.

I touched on that already. Infinites have a new meaning. They aren't truly infinite, they are just way, way too overpowered. It's common knowledge in the DBD community and it's still a commonly used term to describe said loops. Welcome to 2019.
The thing most of you rank 15 survivor mains are forgetting is, the killer is supposed to be the power role. While it should always be possible to win a chase, the odds should always tip in the killers favor. Always.
And they absolutely do affect those infinite. You can no longer hug the wall before a fast vault. You have to turn wide, losing distance and momentum.
I've been rank 1 as survivor pretty much every month, sans a couple when I barely played and I have over three thousand hours. Yes, the killer is going to have an advantage playing against one-forth of a team, but the way that fast vaults were required skill to pull off correctly, and there is no rationale to deny that a survivor should be able to outplay a killer, which was the case. And no, the killer shouldn't have the advantage in every scenario, it's an asymmetrical horror game, but the team combined is supposed to equal the killer in power... what an asinine thing to state. If you can't break loops, you simply are a really bad killer.

Play killer for a while. Your mind will change. I mean actually play killer, and notice how strong infinites are. Everyone here should do that instead of parroting what all your favorite survivor main streamers are saying. They are remarkably biased and abuse these infinites on a daily basis.
So, play killer for a while. Not at rank 20, not at rank 10. Get to at LEAST purple ranks. Find out why this change is a good thing. If you say you did, and you didn't, we'll know you're bullshitting because you'll still think otherwise. If you're good at survivor, which isn't hard, this shouldn't matter to you.
There is nothing close to true infinites anymore. There are areas that come close like the main building in the Asylum, main house in Suffocation Pit, etc., but these changes do nothing whatsoever to affect them, so it's irrelevant to even bring them up.
-
They were perfectly fine the way they were. I don't understand why they've done so many minor tweaks to vaulting over the past few patches at all. They're still not bad but I just don't get the point. They already required a fair bit of skill to pull off in a lot of scenarios but they seem intent on making a lot of those impossible.
-

Why is it difficult? Just take 3 hits while the killer carries to hook?

Who cares about what community says anyways, who cares about what killers think, we're not the power role anymore (if we ever were). most of the playerbase is a survivor playerbase so you gotta make'em happy. Not buying GF whatsoever or any DLCs anymore. I'm just tired. I have every DLC except for Ash, and if this is the treatment the killers are gonna keep getting so we have to spam nurses and billys at high ranks, not gonna bother wasting money
Do you not play survivor at all, or what? GF's detection is extremely messed up right now and he gets free exposed status pretty easily even if you're doing exactly as the devs say, looking straight at him for 1.5 seconds. Not to mention he can keep you endlessly with the exposed status for the entirety of the game by continuing stalking, which is broken as hell. And yes... a game where 80% of every match are survivors, is going to be the largest part of the player base. This forum is about BALANCE, not favoring one side.
-
Isn't that intended? At least for hooked survivors.

If done right, yes, both can be done.

Give killers an incentive to not use Ruin then we'll talk
All? If you're using ruin as Hillbilly or Nurse, you probably don't know what you're doing with them. The only reason Ruin can be considered necessary (for M1 killers, as well as Huntress, Spirit, etc.) is because they can't traverse the map quickly enough to put pressure on gens (map control).
I'd like to see Ruin get a revisit to just be less annoying, as a lot of mediocre killers do wind up really getting carried by a lucky awkward totem spawn (particularly on the Game and Blackwater) and with the upcoming changes that's going to be a LOT more frequent.

Because that would be insanely broken? An invisible killer whose only indication they're around you is a non-directional sound being able to track you that precisely at base? Especially when the only "counter" would be no mither.

DH is like any other Exhaustion perk and has to be well timed, else it's a free hit for the killer. Adrenaline is more a reward for doing Gens and DS is an anti tunneling perk and therefore no 2nd Chance Perk anymore.
Shhhh, don't talk reason, survivors only deserve weak, useless perks because we need free kills.
-
They've already said they're working on ways to balance in case of DCs. I doubt that it's bots.
-
So, what, you think Freddy should just get endless free generator grabs & free hits with it? That's pretty obviously not what it's intended for.
-
You can tell just like before if someone has DS or not. If you're not using an obsession perk, and there's an obsession, it's almost definitely DS.
Also "unless you waste a rare mori then you can't get around it"? The way around it is called not tunneling.
-
I think they messed up by not changing gate spawns with the EGC, the majority of the time the gates are CRAZY close on most maps.
-
Escape rates at all ranks. The game is so unbalanced right now it's probably 3-4 average at all even though the aim should be 2 on average at all ranks.
-
@Plu said:
So you can stand at the gate and yell YOU SHALL NOT PASS to survivors.
But the "practical" use of it is to force survivor to do something if they are being immersed and won't actually play the game, wich is holding the game hostage.
...But that doesn't really happen when the gates are powered. Maybe if there's only 1 survivor left. But that's pretty rare for the gates to be powered at that point.
-
Genrush is as much of a "thing" as killrushing, gen repair speed is in a pretty good place right now.
Maybe try different builds and try not to get dependent on ruin. Pop goes the weasel can be good situationally, discordance will let you know where you should be going to stop them, etc., ruin is really a bandaid for weaker killers. It's actually crazy that lately every single Billy and Nurse I run into more has ruin, which never used to be the case in red ranks. Ruin is more of a band aid for killers without strong map control, or for players who just don't know how to play killer particularly well.
