  • As someone who plays Plague a lot, and is considering to main her. The biggest problem I have with her is how her most fun and powerful ability is the most awkward to use and sometimes, even not worth activating.

The fact that you need to go to a specific fountain on the map to activate corrupt purge, means you have to sometimes abandon a chase or not even begin one to collect the power. A lot of survivors who are experienced will deliberately use a fountain in a place on the map that has nothing going for it, generally a corner of the map so it's almost a waste of time to go collect the power, because once you do, everyone else will cleanse and hide, and you achieve nothing.

Even if you have it activated and are chasing a survivor, depending on the map, it can be quite easy to break LoS and deny the value it brings. A typical jungle gym loop is exceptionally bad for Plague, because she can't shoot over the walls and has to respect the pallet so hard, otherwise she loses the power and that's a big net loss for her.

It's also notable how the survivors are the ones who control WHEN you get to use this power. Sure, you can bring the apple add-ons to make it so you get two fountains at the start of the match, but the spawns are random and there's hardly ever an opportunity to collect the fountain and use it in a chase immediately.

So it's a power that's difficult to activate, pointless to activate against good survivors and is controlled by the survivors whether you can use it or not, which is bad design. If they were to give her Corrupt Purge alongside Vile Purge for the entire match, but limit how much you can use it and tie it to a reload mechanic at the fountains, then it could make her ALOT more fun and stronger.

  • Honestly, a bonus of being a Killer main is the instant queue times I get. As a survivor, I'm waiting up to 5 to 10 minutes for a game. Killer? Instant.

It really shows how there's barely any killer players, which supports how the game is a little survivor-sided in some areas of balance.

  • Killer can be fun, but it only starts becoming enjoyable when you get good at it, which is sad because survivor(s) don't need to be skilled to have fun really.

  • Nurse is the strongest killer in the game by far, but you need to master her in order to basically stomp on survivors, which I think is fair when you consider the amount of effort it takes to get to such a stage, which means countless times when you lose games and all survivors escape.

There's an add-on that shows you where the blink will take you, its a good starter add-on to start learning Nurse, you should use it!

  • I think criticising NOED for being a second chance perk for killers (it's the only one) is unfair when you consider how survivors have many more that grant them second chances, and some of them do not have any realistic counters to them, whereas NOED does. You can complain about totem placements, but so many maps have bad totem spawns and it's very easy to simply remember where they are and if it's a problem, you can always bring a totem perk, which not only counters NOED, but also other hex perks which are common.

Furthermore, I don't understand the premise of ''it makes killers play bad'' or ''Killers don't learn to pressure gens correctly'' when using NOED makes you play with three perks for the entire game, so you need to play harder to get the same outcome as playing with four perks. And if a good killer, who has all the skills, puts on NOED, they don't suddenly become incapable of applying pressure or playing effectively.

I think people just stereotype NOED users as the newbie killers who play horrendous and then get 3-4 kills at the end with it, which ONLY happens if the survivor(s) make extreme mistakes. Most of the time, NOED only grants one kill, and sometimes it's not even needed since the survivor would've gone down anyway.

I don't see why it gets hate, I find it extremely fun to be under pressure to find the totem ASAP when its active, it makes the killer an actual threat at the end-game which is honestly something that needs to be more common.

I mean, yeah. I hate it because it is designed specifically to directly rob the killer of a hit. I'd 10× rather 4 SB's even though SB is probably stronger when used properly.

But the fact that Dead Hard is practically mindless for it's sheer versatility, repeatability and strength just rubs salt in the wound.

Nah, SB is just infinitely more annoying than DH IMO.

Survivors just sit in your face, or if caught off guard, get away for free. The impact it has is far more annoying, unlike DH which is easy to counter unless used perfectly (i.e more distance for that pallet).

  • Kills are the ''win'' for the killer. You can hook every single survivor twice, but if all four of them escape, how is that considered a win?

Just like for survivors, you might complete four or even all the generators, but if none of you escape, did you win?

I don't see how hooks are considered the ''win''.

wyh do people actually stay in the gate, healthy, waiting to get hit? like... just leave.

Some wait to let the killer farm hits for bloodpoints, but honestly from my experience, the vast majority don't give you hits and just want you to observe them leave as a salty move.

  • In an average and normal game, you get hooked twice and presumably saved. 2 hooks before the third one kills you, so there's two activations of Decisive Strike.

Hence it being 2 minutes of invulnerability throughout the match, 1 minute each.

  • @Adjatha said:

If totems were actually well hidden on all maps and not just out in the open right next to the spawn, maybe I could see your point.

It doesn't matter either way, survivors will end up remembering where totem spots are after a certain time.

  • Yeah, it's not uncommon and I even do it myself if the game is over and I have no leverage against the survivor(s).

I already know the vast majority just want to TBAG and have me observe them leave as a ''F you'' type gesture. I just tab out, watch some youtube and laugh at them wasting their own time.

  • My name on steam was something like ''cease faggotry''

yeah steam didn't like that for long

    -ur average gay meme man

  • He's a stealth killer, so giving him a chasing power is just too much, especially when you consider that Wraith's playstyle and power allows him to basically get the first hit on the survivor for free, before there's any actual chase or looping involved.

I'd buff his stealth even more, make it so you can't see his shimmer outside a ten metre radius and make the bone clapper add-on base kit to add a fear factor of not knowing when he's exactly coming.

The killers in this game that specialise in stealth, NEED to have strong stealth, not some half-assed stealth that doesn't do anything. At least Wraith needs some type of pure stealth, since GF and Myers have other abilities tide to their stealth.

  • A type of angel killer.

Per the Survivor Rulebook, Survivors cannot, ever, play sweaty. They just "play."

Only Killers play sweaty, for instance whenever they hit them with a weapon or put them on a hook. 🤣

    yes

  • Because it's not truly an anti-tunnel perk, as its designed to be. It's basically a minute of ''do whatever the ######### you want, the killer can't touch you''

On one survivor, that's two minutes of invulnerability, spread across an ENTIRE team, that's eight minutes, enough to do 6 generators of time.

    See the problem?

  • It's a buff, let's be grateful he got it.

  • Killers: Trying to win

    survivors: OmG sO sWeAtY

also survivors: *proceed to play sweaty themselves*

    gotta love the double standards

  • Huntress has a higher skill ceiling when it comes to her hatchets compared to the Deathslinger's gun. Plus, Deathslinger is better at the chase than Huntress since he basically ignores loops in his own way.

  • Well, you complain at the killer for being unable to apply pressure when tunnelling is probably the fastest and most reliable way to do it, especially when there is no DS/BT. Getting a survivor out of the game early in the match, gives the killer such an advantage since finishing 3-5 generators with three survivors is extremely difficult.

It sucks, but its a strategy killers sometimes need to do.

  • Demogorgon with backpack build: Iron Grasp, Mad Grit, Agitation & NOED.

It's so stupid and funny with how the Demogorgon is just permanently screeching when swinging, had some funny matches doing this.

  • I don't know why he even has it. If he's holding the chainsaw for a long period of time, fine keep it. But just regularly hitting an object sending you into a tantrum?

Sure some stun/delay to punish you for missing, but it's like 8-10 seconds of being unable to do anything, that's dumb.

  • Well if the killer applies enough pressure, then the gens slow down considerably, but to do that, you usually need to run a top tier killer, with the best perks that include perks to slow down the generators.

Assuming the survivor team is competent, it's hard to apply this pressure since, A) Downing survivors with, let's say a trash tier killer takes like 1-2 minutes on a strong map for the survivors, and B) Maps are sometimes too big to patrol and defend generators

If you made it easier for killers to apply pressure, e.g make maps smaller, make some killers stronger, it would solve ALOT of the problems.

My Friends group. Didnt start out looking for LGBT members we all just picked up and added each other cause of halo 4 multi-player. I'm Bi, my friends are, straight, pan, gay, and even asexual. We didn't search for each other cause of this it just happened.

So the idea of having multiple LGBTQ characters is not shocking because they exist 🤔

Yeah, but why do we need a survivor/killer for every sexuality and gender? If you say ''representation'' then there's a lot missing for the straights.

  • Yeah it would've been cool. They could've really gone for it and make a South Korean market or popular popping district like Myeongdong. But sadly they didn't, and they didn't decide to work on the existing maps in balance or graphics.

Then again, we got good changes to Blight and Wraith, new perks which are fun with the occasional one or two with potential to be strong along with a Killer that's pretty well rounded, who just needs a buff to his power.

It's a good update if you compare it to others as well..

You should start with the greater evils, then: TV and ads. Get them to drop all sexual content, then we can work on DbD.

Right, I should work on greater evils but you're asking for LGBTQ people to be poorly represented in a game that has less than 50k active players.

    Right

That's not realism at all. When do you see the entire LGBTQ spectrum in any area of life outside pride events?

You do realize the game is about an evil spider goddess that takes people from various realities (not just our own) to feast on their souls, yes? "Realism" is not a factor here. Even if it were, the fact that She can take people from any reality automatically throws that out the window, unless you have data on demographics from alternate realities.

    "Realism isn't a factor here"

I don't know how to say it ANYMORE clearer but proper representation is all about REALISTIC portrayals of someone's experience.

You're asking for representation, when you have not the faintest clue what it actually entails.

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1992024#Comment_1992024

Now if heterosexuality doesn't have that, what makes you think other sexualities and niche genders will get it?

Did anyone ask for that? Because I don't see it. What I see is people asking for the same treatment that heterosexuality already got.

Plus the developers have already confirmed at least one character in this game is LGBTQ, yet you still want more.

People want equal treatment between heterosexual relationships and non-heterosexual relationships, yes. Saying "oh, someone's LGBT" is not what happened with heterosexuals.

Please focus on the problems with the game instead of wanting representation when it's not even needed.

The people in charge of lore are not the ones who work on the balance of the game. Furthermore, just because you don't think representation is important doesn't mean it's irrelevant to everyone.

    1) And the treatment the heterosexual characters get isn't even decent, it's terrible. Why do you want awful representation? You scream representation, but there's nothing shared between you and characters in a supernatural death getting murdered over and over, with exception to maybe one part of them, which you're making such a big fuss about when really, sexuality shouldn't be fussed about in 2021.

    2) "Equal treatment" still doesn't mean good treatment. The heterosexuals weren't done good, neither will the gays or niche genders the developers have no clue about.

    3) it doesn't matter, its still the company as a whole that makes decisions, and this exemplifies the issue of them not fixing core issues and adding stuff that barely no one asked for.

With everything going on in the world right now, I would avoid adding LGBTQ characters to this game. It's not that I don't want an LGBTQ character, you do you that's fine but I know that the other more "caring" LGBTQ people the ones that just look at things for what it is without putting much thought into it will see this game as offensive. I believe there will be too many problems that will occur when adding an LGBTQ character to this game and any other game depending on the style of the game.

So you explain the context to them and ignore the unreasonable ones who won't listen. Problem solved.

I also know that there are some kids that play this game and I STRONGLY believe that they do not need to know about this kind of stuff at a young age from a game. so again, I only see more problems than solutions coming from this.

As someone who didn't know bisexuality was a thing until his late teens despite having felt attracted toward boys and girls since he was a child, this is BS. Furthermore, if kids are playing the game, I'd be far more worried about their exposure to the violence and toxic people than a line of lore they will never read.

I agree with kids not playing toxic or adult like games, but neither should they be taught about sexuality, both straight and anything non-straight.

We're in agreement, then. Bring on the LGBT characters.

    "Characters"

That right there is also a problem. A lot of people, not saying you in particular, are wanting a character for every sexuality or niche gender in existence.

That's not realism at all. When do you see the entire LGBTQ spectrum in any area of life outside pride events?

  • Since three of you replied and I'm on mobile, take this as a shared reply.

The representation for even the straight characters in this game isn't good or at the level where it should be. Heterosexuality is mentioned, but there's no representation of the positive virtues that come along with it.

Now if heterosexuality doesn't have that, what makes you think other sexualities and niche genders will get it?

And you keep forgetting the fact that this is a game about perpetual pain, murder and death. I'm sure it'll look good to outsiders hearing that an ancient evil deity, chose an oppressed LGBTQ individual and then makes them even more oppressed.

Plus the developers have already confirmed at least one character in this game is LGBTQ, yet you still want more.

Please focus on the problems with the game instead of wanting representation when it's not even needed.

  • Because against a competent survivor team with any killer that isn't Nurse or Spirit, you need to tunnel, camp, or slug to generate pressure and potentially secure a 4k.

If you go for 10-12 hooks; you'll lose, so killers like myself and others will resort to the three tactics above.

Tunnelling is something I do if there's no BT/DS, but those are common perks, whereas I find UB is used less used, hence slugging being more effective with the addition of it being seen as the lesser of these three evils.

  • Oh look another daily thread demanding for LGBTQ representation in a game that has no place for it.

Please stop; you're doing more harm than good.

  • I'd love to find out how you can avoid a good Spirit with stridor, because not even the top tier killers (and streamers) have found a way yet.

  • You have to think about it for the other side too, sure they're camping, but why?

Are they doing it because 2-3 survivors are in that area with other important objectives?

Are they doing it because you did 4 generators in 2 minutes?

    Ask why, first of all.

  • I'll be satisfied once the perk is fully anti-tunnel, which it's definitely starting to become exactly that.

  • SWF's is why I play Spirit with stridor, I'd rather have a chance to 4K then struggle to get a 1K, tea-bagged and laughed at if I play my actual mains, such as Wraith and Leatherface.

  • If you can actually play Nurse, she's better.

If you're not competent at Nurse, then Spirit.

  • @MadLordJack said:

Spirit is considerably stronger. Freddy isn't one of the absolute top killers, he's just super easy and simple for how strong he is. Blight, Hag, maybe even Oni and Huntress are all better than Freddy, they just require a lot more practice.

Nah, Freddy is top five minimum, I'd argue being #3

He has free slow down, pseudo-stealth, the best mobility in the game, and a anti-loop power stronger than Clown's.

Oh, and he's the easiest killer in the game.

  • Spirit 100%

You can't loop against her, whereas you can with Freddy to some degree.

  • Everything about him is great.. but his power and strength as a killer?

He's pretty bad, very bad. There's no reason to ever pick this guy over Huntress or Deathslinger, they're objectively much better than him in every possible way.

He's basically a 110 M1 killer with a very niche power that just doesn't do anything. Pretty disappointing.

Very true, although there are some people, including I, who appreciate character stories.

Its not that people are bothered, they just don't feel like its necessary. I would not mind a LGBTQ character though as long there is more to them than just that.

People will ignore every aspect of that character and just focus on their sexuality, even if they have a good backstory.

Look at the existing male characters for example, do any of the LGBTQ people ever go "Wow, such a good backstory!". No, they go "Omg, I want to see Felix shirtless". "Is Dwight a top or bottom?"

It has nothing to do with representation, people just want a character to sexualise.

    in LGBTQ Comment by Zaytex
  • Got to love LGBTQ people immediately pulling the phobia card to anyone who disagrees with them, really shows maturity and makes people respect us as equals.

The fact that people are more bothered about adding gay, trans or any other niche gender that only impacts 0.05% of the population of this game over actual problems with the core gameplay of DBD, really screams at the priorities of the playerbase and how they really just want to sexualise all the characters.

This is coming from a gay man, so don't bother with the phobia card.

    in LGBTQ Comment by Zaytex
  • "He doesn't fit in DBD"

Neither does Legion, Demogorgon, Deathslinger, etc.

Where are the complaints for that?

  • It would be a dream if they took time to rework the game from the ground, but they would never do it since they love money more than the experience of the player, along with the awareness that they will always get away with whatever they do since this game has no real competition.

  • Please stop using DS/UB, it's broken AF and if I see an entire team with it, I suddenly get the urge to bring out Spirit with stridor in the next game. You can use it, and there's nothing stopping you, but it just makes killer mains like myself start opting out of playing weaker (and funnier) killers since it's just a one-sided loss with them, and then I'll bring Spirit into the next game and get shouted at by the survivors for an unfun game.

  • well cba arguing with (I assume, LGBTQ people) who think being murdered, or being murderers is good representation for LGBTQ people.

y'all wonder why there's still inequality/bad representation when you literally scream and kick for it.

Any media. Representation in any forms of media could've been the confirmation that I was normal. Like I said, was playing this game far too young.

They asked why people cared about representation. That's why I care about it.

So.. you want LGBTQ people to be put in a perpetual cycle of death, pain and suffering..?

Because that truly represents the LGBTQ+ individuals of the world, doesn't it? Being murderers or victims of murder.

One of the reasons it matters so much to me is because of ######### I've been through. You admitted to being a straight white guy, so you don't know what it's like, but imagine having to tell the people around you that you're gay. You don't know if they'll accept you, you don't know if they won't. You don't know if you even want to tell them, because you're afraid of being thrown out of your own home and you have nowhere else to go. Imagine living with this burden every single day, constantly fighting a battle of "do I tell or do I pretend?". Imagine living every single day as a lie to appease people who you're pretty sure love you, but you're not 100% sure will.

Then the few people who you trust to come out to leak it, and it spreads around the school. You're bullied and harassed constantly- fag, freak, gay ######### being my personal 3 favourites. At home, your siblings have started making jokes about how every gay person is overly-sensitive and it'd be better if people were just straight. Being gay is unnatural, after all. It develops, the bullying and the "jokes" and your mental health plummets because you're not normal and honestly the world would be better off without people like you there.

    And it almost worked.

    That's why representation is important.

I can't speak for everyone, only myself, but had I been able to look towards media (because honestly I've been playing this game far longer than I should've lol) when growing up then I'd have been able to see, 'oh hey, people like you do exist and it's normal'. It would've stopped me attempting to take my own ######### life.

That's why it's important to have represenation. And whilst I don't think you'll be able to understand, you could at least try to empathise. It's not important to everyone, but for some people it is.

Not to dismiss your experience, because that is NOT my intention but if you're turning to a small horror game for representation, then you're looking in the wrong area.

And it's not the representation you want. Many people are bullied, killed, physically beaten for who they are and people want LGBTQ characters in a game that is exactly that?

1 … 7 8 9 10 11 … 16
