  • Because giving killers a tool to promote efficiency just isn't allowed apparently. As you've said, the hook counter doesn't impact on tunnelling at all, since if someone wants to tunnel, then they are going to do so and no tally is changing that.

Now what the hook counter would do, is give killers the idea to chase specific survivors over others. For example, you hook a survivor, see two others and decide to chase one of them in particular because they are on death hook and the other isn't.

That's what the hook counter would do, which apparently isn't acceptable, but it is acceptable for survivors to force 10-12 hooks which is an immediate loss for any non-meta killer.

  • There's actual meaningful representation and just ''throw it in to meet the criteria of diversity''

You all want the latter and will not admit it.

Why do you all even care. This game is broken on all possible levels, and the biggest thread on this forum is about LGBT characters? Just why? I'm just so curious, why is that so important for you to have a trans survivor or killer in a game about murdering people?

Because people aren't happy until every corner of life has a token gay character in it.

Let me ask you something more basic: why is it OK to have heterosexual representation, but not non-heterosexual representation? Give me an argument for excluding the latter (which is forced), but keeping the former.

All I'm going to say as a somewhat final, because I can see this dragging on without any ending is, if you really need LGBTQ representation in this game, then you're either:

    A) In a country where LGBTQ isn't accepted and I apologise for that.

    B) In a country that has plenty of representation in casual media, etc, but you just want to force a gay character in every fabric of reality, even though that isn't realism.

    C) You want to sexualise the characters for sex.

If I had to generalise the people asking for LGBTQ representation, I'd say ''C'' because there's countless comments about whether Dwight is a top or bottom, or whether David has a massive crotch, but there's none about actual meaningful love or positivity when it comes to sexuality or gender, which is the representation that is needed, but you can't get it in this game.

Why have you never said anything against the heterosexual relationships featured in the lore then? Why the need to only exclude LGBT+, which is not even always only about sexuality. Being trans is about identity, it says nothing about the sexuality of the person if they are trans

Let me ask you this, how do you introduce representation that is purely positive in a game about pain and murder?

This isn't a love show, and if it was, I would be down for it, but adding sexuality to a game about perpetual suffering isn't the representation the LGBTQ+ community needs.

Right, because they're clearly the gospel of morality from their track record, yes?

Why are you bringing up morality? I'm just saying, it's their game, so it's up to them to decide whether something should be included or not. They have artistic freedom.

How does, sexuality and gender fit in line with a game about murder and suffering?

Sexuality has been a part of the slasher genre from its inception.

Because you basically implied they were morally correct in their decision when they JUST had a scandal over doing something that was immoral.

Sure, they can decide what they want to do, but at the end of the day, they need to consider the communities feelings and if only 10% of the player base actually cares for representation, then forcing it in is ridiculous.

Like seriously, who thinks whilst playing a game about murder and suffering, ''hey I need gay and trans representation''. Unless you're living in a specific part of the world, you can literally turn the TV on and see plenty of LGBTQ representation, why do you need it in a horror game?

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1984647#Comment_1984647

This isn't the game for it.

That's for the devs to decide, is it not? And the devs decided you're wrong.

Right, because they're clearly the gospel of morality from their track record, yes?

I can't wait for a trans survivor to be brought into a game of murder, pain and suffering, some fine representation there.

Technically they have been mentioned, as discussed above.

It's never been said though that any of the characters have been in a same sex relationship for example.

And whilst you might not agree that "this is the game for it" I will say this is exactly the game for people to feel represented in - we have a large and diverse player base and they have every right to feel as represented by the characters that they choose to play as anyone else does.

How does, sexuality and gender fit in line with a game about murder and suffering?

Because I literally do not see how sexuality, which is often represented by love and positivity, can be FAIRLY represented in a game about literal misery on a silver platter.

  • @Mandy said:

Whilst representation is not important to many people, doesn't mean it's not important to everyone. A lot of people aren't concerned about representation because they're automatically represented in so many things - for example me as a single, white, straight woman - there's quite a few characters in the game that I identify with, without even thinking about it. BUT for some people it's important that they feel represented and it's something that we've said we find important as well - I can't emphasis that point enough.

This isn't the game for it. There's PLENTY of representation in the general media (depending on where you live) about all the different sexualities, genders and everything that that is non-conforming. Why do we need those characteristics in a game about murder and brutality?

You can say you're represented, but how do you know? None of the characters sexualities or genders have been officially confirmed, so just like everyone else, you're making an assumption there (unless I missed something).

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1984613#Comment_1984613

It has nothing to do with sexuality, and yet we still have straight people representented plenty. So why not have LGBTQ+ representation too, especially after BHVR admitted they want to add this?

Please tell me which character in this game is confirmed to be heterosexual, because you're making assumptions.

  • Because this is a game about murder, pain and brutality and has nothing to do with sexuality.

Just think about it, do you really think having the killer murder a gay or trans survivor is good representation? really?

  • I'm gay, but the desire to input a gay character into literally every game, series, or thing in the world is annoying. Stop it, no, you don't need representation about gay people in a HORROR game. Go somewhere else if you want gay representation.

  • If you think NOED is on the same power level as DS, then I don't know what to tell you.

The most pain I've ever felt in this game is trying for adept Trapper. Waited until after Rank Reset, so it would be a little easier (This was a couple of weeks ago.)

    Got Midwich.

    Got Merciless anyways.

    Didn't get the achievement.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/NEOBBE660PG1/pain.jpg

Yes, I'm aware someone escaped, but I still got Merciless, and I could've sworn I've gotten adepts even if someone survived, as long as I still got Merciless.

I just want Trapper adept, dammit.

I remember playing a perfect game as Trapper, against good survivors, pretty much sweating for the adept and left a survivor on the floor whilst I chased the other to secure the 4K

I come back, and the hatch spawned RIGHT under their body in front of me

I was so mad.. it would've been an adept game if I killed that bloody steve..

Got it a few hours later, but stupid RNG like that.. lord..

  • It's BS, idiotic and completely impossible sometimes.

You basically need to go for 12 hooks, have many chases, stop gens flying, stop the survivors healing all whilst trying to do this with some crappy perkless killer like trapper, against x4 DS/UB gen rushing SWF.

You're better off throwing till you're around rank 20, then going for it.

They should really just change it to 4 kills only, instead of making it so you need to double pip, which requires 10-12 hooks and all the other shenanigans that don't happen unless the survivors are potato.

  • Because going against a SWF is usually seeing x4 DS/UB, top tier perks, all split up doing gens as efficiently as possible, good at looping and on a strong map for survivors which ends up making the game finishing on me (killer) getting 4 hooks before they all escape.

Or I'm forced to camp, since tunnelling and slugging are removed by DS/UB and get cried at in the process.

  • Survivor in 90% of the scenario, with the other 10% being the solo queue experience, but even then.. survivors are the power role.

Even in randoms, a decent survivor team all with DS/UB/DH/BT, etc are virtually unstoppable unless you're Nurse.

  • Unless you're playing Nurse or Spirit, tunnelling/slugging/camping is a must if you want to win against a good or even decent survivor team that has the strongest perks they can bring.

    That's why it's necessary.

This is an extremely myopic point of view and only takes into consideration your side.

The actual truth is that the game is skill-based, and the better man wins.

Both sides are vying for time. Perks -- whether Exhaustion Perks on Surivvor Side or Slowdown Perks on Killer Side -- are meant to improve the time situation of their respective sides. That is not a problem with the game -- that is the game.

Go up against a competent (more competent than you) killer? You lose. Go up against a competent survivor? You lose. Simple as that.

Right, you've got no idea what you're talking about if you think survivors are actually pressed for time unless it's a P3 Nurse.

Survivors will always be the power role when they are efficient, this is a fact.

The mindset that tunnelers need to be punished is kinda bad imo. It leads to the defensive anti tunnel perk to be used as a weapon.

A better way would be to reward non tunnelers. If injured people repaired gens slower and survivors gained a speed boost for every death survivor. The game would reward the killer for going for the 12 hook game keeping everyone alive as long as possible.

Maybe not the best solution but just an example. Make it so that spreading damage is more worthwhile rather then eliminating survivors and tunneling wouldn't be such a problem.

Rewarding good behavior is always more effective then punishing bad behavior.

I've always thought that the survivor(s) should have a repair nerf if they are injured. Logically, they're bleeding out a lot and have serious wounds.. so focusing on how to repair a generator, would be difficult, whereas in a chase, they're probably on adrenaline and don't feel the pain too much.

Gameplay wise, it would incentive to heal, slowing down the game by a fair amount for the killer, as an injured survivor can still do everything a healthy survivor can do.. which is kind of silly.

  • Agreed, the game is already difficult for most killers as they are tied for time and exhaustion perks make it so killers have to give up more time in order to end chases.

Like the SB/Lithe/BL making it so the killer needs another 10-20 seconds just to catch up to the survivor, or the DH that can reset chases entirely, making it so the survivor who should've been downed, gets a second chance to loop the killer again.. and as we know, some chases take forever and there's been times where a DH has given a survivor another 30-40 seconds of loop time against me (generally because they have a very good map to work with.)

You then have to account that every survivor could bring an exhaustion perk.. making the problem even more stupid. I think the perks by themselves are fine, but when you put them on a competent survivor with a very strong map, illustrates the problem with the game.

  • Pig needs to be D tier as her stealth is useless, the dash attack almost never works on competent survivors and her main power, the traps, are entirely RNG dependent and are the most inconsistent power in the game.

Demogorgon being C tier is a crime, considering he has a mobility tool (that is very underestimated), a lunge attack that makes specific loops like jungle gyms and killer shack extremely dangerous as the survivor can't run straight to the window/pallet or risk getting hit. And in addition, his portals act as a form of game slow-down as survivors need to cleanse them (which takes 10-15 seconds) otherwise it makes Demogorgon have easy map pressure. Make him B/A tier minimum.

Bubba should be A tier, his power is incredibly lethal to the point that a survivor is just dead unless they have a pallet in the immediate vicinity or a safe window (which there aren't too many, and I use Bamboozle to shut those down ;) ). He chews through pallets fast and if the survivors are all together, can end the game very quickly.

Deathslinger should be S/A tier considering he has a pseudo-stealth TR with a power that makes him stupidly broken in the 1V1, able to end chases easily in 20-30 seconds.

  • Kindred for survivors.

    Corrupt for Killers.

  • He's pretty much an M1 Killer IMO,

  • Here we go.. a top ten list in no order..

    1) DS/UB together is just broken and gives a survivor two minutes of invulnerability and can be up to eight if everyone has it. Competent survivors with these perks are practically unkillable and there's no counter to it.

    2) Decisive isn't actually anti-tunnel, it's just a minute of invulnerability.

    3) Unbreakable should deactivate if you pick yourself up.

    4) Maps that are far too big.

    5) Maps where the survivors have up to 3-5 strong structures or loops chained together (like shack into jungle gyms).

    6) Some killers being useless against very good survivors with the items listed above. Wraith against UB/DS on a strong survivor map is just a guaranteed loss.

    7) Doors being able to be 99'd..

    8) Individual items becoming oppressive when all four survivors bring it, like a med-kit

    9) Keys paired with hatch offerings.

    10) Sweaty SWF

  • The same four to five killers in 95% of my survivor matches.. being Freddy, Spirit, Slinger, Pyramid Head and Nurse.

It gets extremely boring after even one game, where the killers just negate survivor input and take almost no skill in doing it.

  • It's funny because Ruin/Undying is extremely easy to counter with a single item, perk or simple change in gameplay:

-You can bring maps with tracking add-ons and find totems quickly.

-Detective's Hunch, Small Game.. make finding totems so easy

-Just keeping an eye out can find 2-3 totems on the map without even trying.

-Oh, and the survivors can cleanse undying first and then ruin, making the combination pretty mute at times.

Now, let's look at the strongest perks/combo for the survivor side.. being UB/DS and the counterplay to it:

-The survivor is invincible, so you have to let them go for a minute, twice a match.

Wonder which we should change first.

  • I'd make it so your aura is revealed to all other survivors, like OoO, but for your teammates.

  • Not going to lie, I've sometimes missed Hex Totems, only to hear it or see the light flickering to get my attention.

  • Honestly, him having little to no mobility isn't even THAT much of an issue when his anti-looping power is extremely good. A good doctor will shock you correctly, negating any chance to drop pallets in a chase, or, if you drop it early, he'll still shock you and hit you on the other side.

Mobility is only an issue when you get the biggest maps on the game, smaller maps like coal tower doesn't require massive mobility.

  • Freddy, partially because his teleportation ability is just Demogorgon's power on steroids.. and I'm a Demogorgon main.

Also because he's by far the easiest killer and one of the strongest (top five minimum IMO), easy anti-loop mechanic, easy map pressure and free slow-down.

  • Agreed, last second survivor swaps is pretty much uncounterable as you have no time to alter your load out, for example, by bringing franklins to get rid of the key/toolbox.

Personally, I'll either DC on the loading screen, or if I see a key, tunnel the absolute ######### out of that specific survivor, or if I feel extra mean, slug them until they die from bleeding out and I'll stand on top of them to counter any UB/altruism.

Yeah, it's a nasty move to do, but the survivor showed me no courtesy, they ain't getting any.

  • Ghostface can stab me any day ;)

  • @Angelicus23 said:

Demo is such an underrated killer (but some buffs are still needed) and people should learn to use his powers better that's all.

Mastering Demo is easy you can have fun without sweating.

In a way, Demo is just a weaker version of Freddy, but he's still a pretty strong A tier killer IMO

Love playing him and being underestimated.

  • I'm from the UK and the lag is pretty bad at the minute for me for the last week.

    Idk why

  • I don't like it, since I'm usually left exhausted on the ground when I try to use it.

  • Mhm, I do main Bubba and a lot of people dislike him since he's really good at patrolling or basement camping.

Not that I do that, unless the survivors are asking for it (e.g playing really good, toxic, etc)

  • Unless you have Iron Will, there is nothing you can do.

She's one of those killers where you just pray the person playing the Spirit, makes a mistake or is inexperienced.

So yeah, in a nutshell, there's nothing you can do, you're helpless =)

    Enjoy!

  • Not all SWF are difficult to win as the killer, to be honest.

  • Don't worry guys they made sure to not give us a christmas event so we get better chapters/other content

    oh wait

  • Like others have said, I'd just let him carry all his traps and even spawn with them, he'd still be mid-tier at best then.

  • He's just the better player 5head

  • Kneel to the survivors and accept you're just there for their fun and amusement

Anything else you do is toxic

  • Self Care; Decisive Strike and Kindred IMO

  • I'm in love with Desperate Measures right now.

I combine it with BT and SC, making it extremely good for saves and self healing when everyone is injured.

  • An average game as killer, you could probably get away with hooking 12 times or focusing on 2-3 (so you're not tunnelling, but still eliminating a survivor faster than normal) but sometimes (rarely) against very efficient and good survivors, jts your only way to create and maintain pressure.

Survivors don't want killers to tunnel but proceed to play the most efficient way possible, bitching when the killer does the same in return.

  • @danielmaster87 said:

Mist offerings are now more useful to a killer than a mori.

I really wish the drama queens of the forum would get removed.

  • It's a really good change.

Mori's are still powerful as they bypass death hook defenses (DS, UB, sabotages, etc) but are no longer free wins for killers or extremely oppressive and frustrating for survivors.

Those who call the change making mori's useless really don't know what they are talking about.

  • Because it's almost 2021 where people get salty or offended about literally anything.
