I don't think MedKits should let you heal faster than you can heal a teammate, or heal efficiently just by wearing it. There are perks and builds for a reason. Increasing the effectiveness of medkits would take away from survivor 'classes'. If you want to be able to heal and self-heal efficiently, use a build that allows you to do so. In that regard, some perks should give a little buff to self-healing speed.
The killer has to work hard to achieve hits and downs, so neglecting them simply by holding M1 for a few seconds just because you're using a medkit sounds neither balanced nor fair. -
Seriously? That modifier is busted for killers. I stopped playing as survie the third or fourth game and has been playing as killer ever since. I'm not touching this modifier as survivor ever again.

Maybe if OP's post didn't read like a copy paste template of how easy Killer is, I would be inclined to believe them.
Either MMR is broken constantly for them or OP has already gone against the best their region has to offer and OP is stuck in the pond as a big fish
While I agree with your reasoning, I believe it's true that MMR is not working as it should. In my case it goes both ways, sometimes I do great and it seems I am way over the opposition's skill level, most of the times it's the opposition who is way better than me. Maybe once in every ten matches the skill is actually balanced.

Play against comp players or strong streamer players.
A big fish in a small pond is nothing when tossed into the big ocean.
The thing is you don't get to choose the skill of your rivals. They're not claiming they're the absolute best, they're just stating that MMR is not working as it should since it pits them against lower skilled survivors. MMR should pit you against teams roughly your skill, but it is obviously not working.

Tbh saying 2v8 is Killer easy mode is a bit absurd and biased, but it's really not the point I wanted to express. I do udnerstand that people can feel that way. Because every game is a roulette, you don't know if you're gonna stomp or you're gonna be stomped but most of the times it's one end or the opposite.
As for killer popularity in 2v8, I understand it. It's their chance to be on comms now and it's actually pretty fun because there's almost no time wasted on searching and you're constantly chasing people. But I'm not waiting more than 5 minutes for a match to start, so yeah…
-
3rd match. A Cheryl player dc's first thing in the match (could be a crash, though, since they were doing gens). Versing a Doctor. The trial went on 'normally'. When in Madness tier 3, as it usually happens lately, holding M1 to 'Snap out of it' is glitched and randomly stops working which sometimes causes you to scream and revert the progress. I didn't realize Doctor had been buffed in such a realistic and immersive way.
Edit: Not playing anymore by now. I'm changing to Smite or Elden Ring.
-
2nd match in a row. Versing a Knight. One teammate goes down, first hook in the trial. I try to go to save him but the Knight starts chase with me. Poor guy died because the other two teammates were doing gens and couldn't be bothered to save him. I run the Knight for the whole match until everyone was dead. And yep, I died. This time it didn't happen to me exactly, but If I were the player who was sacrificed on first hook because of the other 2 survivors I'd be extremely mad.
Edit: 'I run the Knight for the whole match' as if the match lasted half an hour. Only the 2 gens done by sacrificing the first teammate were repaired. The game didn't last much because Knight would leave me to go after the others.

I'm not worried about MMR, and never have been. How can anyone objectively assess matchmaking when many people used the prestige system to lobby shop?
It's being disabled, and since you can't view the profiles of people of different platforms, the task becomes tougher to lobby shop to the point of not being worth it. Maybe now MMR has a chance to work properly.
The fundamental issue survivors face is you are by design reliant on your teammates. It doesn't matter if you buy 90 seconds for your team if they don't use it. Similarly if those same players don't loop effectively while you're on gens, you can't get things completed.
This means as survivor you're reliant on your team, as you should be... but majority of survivors I listen to want to be master of their own fate, and have the power to loop the killer for 5 gens and still get out...
This desire is diametrically opposed to the very concept of the game... if you don't want to rely on your teammates, you're playing the wrong game, and is just an unrealistic expectation if you genuinely believe the game should be balanced for both sides.
Personally, I've been playing survivor much more lately due to blood point rewards, and I've been having loads of fun... yesterday I played maybe 12 games and survived 2 of them... but even if I haven't escaped often myself, I've had plenty of 2 and 3 man outs, with a couple of 4 man outs too (yes the 2 I escaped were the 4 man outs). That tends to be the curse of the player that actually does manage to hold the killers attention.

Yeah, I agree with that. I don't need to win to have fun, either as survivor or killer. As survivor, I'm fine dying if a chase has been fun and rewarding, or if I'm achieving something like helping other survies escape or rescueing a hooked teammate. As killer, I'm fine with plenty of hooks alone, even no kills, as long as the trial has been intense and we all have played.
What I don't find fun in any way is, as survivor, being obliterated from the very start either because the killer is on a higher skill level, abusing cheap tactics and/or teammates not playing the game as intended. As killer I don't have fun if survivors are constantly swarming me and trying to troll me (even if they end up dead), don't engage with me and wait for me to kill them (I sometimes react to this by letting them go), go ultra gen efficient and get them done in a couple minutes, effectively preventing me and everyone from actually playing the game, or just go hiding all the match.
Given how this community apparently behaves, the number of trials that go 'positive' are quite larger than the ones that go 'negative', I can't really blame anyone for choosing to dc until they find an actual fun trial.Edit: I just had a match versing a Spirit in RPD. I was injured and in chase, but I was in a strong loop and so far I was doing good. Most likely I could still have lasted a bit. But then, out of the blue, bang! rubberbanding/lagging/whatever, and suddenly I was away from the pallet and the loop and soon after, downed. You know how many times do this kind of things happen? Way too many.
-
Again, I think there is a problem with MMR. I've seen quite a good number of newbie killers dc'd out of frustration because they were clearly way over their heads. Alas, quite often the other way around it's also true. You can't really expect people to have fun and be good in a game when clearly
A) There's an obvious skill difference
B) Cheap, lame, frustrating and unfun tactics are easy to use
C) You are playing with people who many times are trying to get you killedDepiping being gone was a thing because you don't have much control over your performance. There could be instances in which, despite having high skills and/or playing good and efficient, you would still rank poorly and suffer the consecuences.
Edit: Before punishing people for DC'ing, which I agree it's not something good, we should be able to punish actual bad beehaviour in the matches, like survivors trolling their teammates, farming them or constantly hiding, and killers hard tunneling and slugging with no real reason to but their ability to do so. So basically, before punishing DC's you have to punish tose intentionally sabotaging trials for others.
-
I do notice it and truth be told, I am comitting suicide more often too. I'd say the game has become insufferable lately due to matchmaking not working properly and having to be teamed with survivors who do nothing but hide, or troll their teammates, or very clearly they don't know how to play, while the killer most of the times is an ultra dead hard, sweaty tunneler with plenty of experience and apparently skill (which then again makes me wonder why they tunnel).
Should I just stop playing the game? Most likely. I think FrostySeal is correct, I'm just addicted to it and want to achieve many things, which keeps me playing it even though maybe I'm starting to hate it. Will I change? Well, I am known for consecutively tripping over the same stone once and once again, so I kind of doubt it. -
@sinkra said:
It won't shorten queues and here is why. The actual number of people who want to play killer in 2v8 is higher than the amount playing it, because the long queues are motivating them to queue as survivor instead. If you reduce the amount of survivors per game so killer queues are shorter, it will just increase the number of people trying to queue as killer until it reaches the threshold equilibrium of queue time again.
That's why this mode per se has no solution other than constantly trying new conditions until both survivor and killer have a somewhat fair, enjoyable experience. If we want 2v8 to be permanent, that is.
-
Sounds like that would solve killer queue times… because no killer would play it.
I don't know, it seems hard to solve. They will just need to keep improving it with each release if they really want to make it permanent.
I can only think of reducing survivors to 6, reducing the amount of gens in the map to 10, having to finish 7, while getting rid of the basekit add-ons for killers but making it necessary to hook survivors.
The teleporting hooks should remain, to prevent camping. -
Yep, it is definitely one of the best experiences I've had while facing a Wesker.

You can always keep on playing with your chosen build, whatever it is, and take the L. Granted, it can be extremely annoying and infuriating sometimes. I've been losing several games in a row with the Hag, which is a killer I'm quite bad at, playing with a set of 3 universal perks (I was going for the achievement, and yes, I could have changed the killer, but I can be very stubborn) and still was matched with sweaty teams with meta builds.
Personally, I enjoy creating unique builds for every killers but it is true that if you want a slight chance to go for at least 1k you need some good perks (unless you're a pro). Good luck in the fog, anyway. -
Hook placement is kind of messed up, too. I got a match in which I only had 2 hooks downstairs and I had a survivor constantly going down so he could escape.
-
It has been happening to me randomly since the modifier came. It happened only 2, 3 times, but yeah. Still hasn't happened since the new update, but I have only played four games.
-
Isn't buckle up being reworked in next update to remove endurance? Or did I just dream of that?
-
They should be punished for tunneling, but not in a way that affects non tunneling killers, which is what is going to happen.

Ok. ;)
-
It will indeed feel weird playing with a result of averagely 25k bp again. But it doesn't matter to me, I have almost achieved my goal already: to get every character to P3. There's only 9 characters remaining, and I think it will go down to 7 by the time the event ends.

I have over 4k hours, admittedly 60% approx as survivor but that is still a lot of hours as killer.
Who is this "you guys" you are talking about, I didn't realise I was officially part of some collective.
I never complained about tunnelling in the EGC, in fact I have repeatedly and consistently complained about "tunnelling out the first weak link at 5 gens" which is what is happening at present.
If you don't tunnel, you do not have this problem and the perk deactivates at EGC or when the survivor does literally anything that progresses the match. If you don't tunnel you do not get hit with DS and I pretty much never got hit with DS from the moment they reworked it to actually be anti- tunnel. You know why? Because I DON'T TUNNEL.
Doesn't seem legit.
-
If you bought every survivor, you could also create a build with Blast Mine, Champion of Light, Chemical Trap and Flashbang. Bring a flashlight if you're good at using them, or a toolbox if not. One way or the other you should get it soon, even if luck is not on your side.
Edit: Obviously you would still need to at least have P1 at least 3 of the 4 characters required (Jill, Alan, Ripley and Leon).
Edit 2: Just in case, as others have stated, the perks essentially required, without which you can't complete it, are Champion of Light from Alan or Chemical Trap from Ripley. -

Yeah good idea actually, I think that will happen as it makes great sense.
I am not at all about it being weaponised against killers trying to do the right thing, only those attempting to relentlessly tunnel survivors off every hook.
I don't think that losing collision will ever happen because it's been on the table for years, they could have done it already but somehow decided not to.
And tbh, I don't think you've played killer much. The amount of times I've been bodyblocked by a freshly unhooked survivor to protect their rescuer in a situation where hooks were spread and there were like, 2 gens remaining, becoming instead my target, only to complain and whine about being tunneled in the egc. You guys like to act as if only one side is the devil, when there are actually scummy players playing both killers and survivors.
And facing a SWFs will be even harder now, trust me. I'm not saying unwinnable, but surely stressful. BHVR has done plenty of good things lately but this seems like a step back. The solution to tunneling is not increasing the stun duration of a perk like this, even though you can only use it once per trial.
If we go back to vsing bully squads SWFs every couple games, I assure you, survivors (specially soloq) will end up paying the price, too. All the killers that fall victim to SWFs weaponizing perks just to mess with them will either stop playing or keep playing and be the opposite of nice to other survivors.
Depiping is a good step forward that should take stress off of both roles, though, so it may compensate somehow. -
I don't think so. The only way I could see them doing so would be doing DBD2, and I doubt it would work. But who knows? Let's see how Smite 2 does. If it works, maybe other games will follow.
-
So again teams will abuse the perk to get enormous advantage on most killer players. I would say they at least should make it so the perk is disabled if going into a locker. That would at least prevent swfs to exploit it and it wouldn't really affect a tunnelled survivor.
The amount of times in my games survivors have abused it pre and post nerf is hilarious. I do feel that tunnellers should be punished, but not in a way that grants teams (not even teams, really, decent solo q players will get value out of it too) more chances to abuse and bully-squad killers who are not tunnelling.
I sure hope they tweak it again before going live, or I, too, will be taking a break again, most likely. -

Is proximity camping a quality of life issue or a permissible strategy?

Yes, we could talk survivor ethics, gen rushing, 360s and juking, but that is for another thread.
A quality of life issue.
Bad for the community.
They should not.
Give me a heads up when discussing survivor related issues.
-
Sounds like the average survivor team to me. That said, it might be possible that they have faced plenty of camping Bubbas before and they can't realize that the killer is not the same as the player. Learn how to ignore them, which is easier said than done, since I can't seem to learnt it myself.
I wish it changes for the better.
-
Well, I think it's time for me to take a break for this game. It'll be hard, because I still feel that I want to play it, but tbh the last days have been extremely frustrating and infuriating, both as survivor and killer. It's kind of sad because hopefully I'll be moving out on January and won't be able to play for a year (save for weekends). But I just can't cope with the anger and frustration this game makes me feel as of lately. I guess I'll still try and play every few days and see if I get more interesting, actually challenging and not downright 'impossible odds' kind of games, but I must say I'm doubtful. Maybe I'm a bit burnt. I don't know. Anyway, I hope you people enjoy it. And I hope I can get to enjoy it again before the end of the year too. Cheers.

Killer (per killer):
- Incease on kill
- Decrease on escapes
Survivor (all):
- Increase on escape
- Decrease on death.
New killers will use your baseline MMR. Which is the average of all your killer's. Now MMR doesn't mean much with long queue times as the match making system will prefer a faster match up than waiting for a perfect match.
SWFs will match based on the highest MMR player in the group.
First of all, thank you for your detailed explanation. So, let's say I start playing as Chucky and the average MMR of my killers is, well, average (I don't think I'm skilled enough to be in high MMR, though I sometimes think so. If all four survivors escape in my first match, shouldn't it be lowered? Because I couldn't notice any difference in the second one. If anything, they were sweatier.
-
Sure it does take all my will to play fair away. Well, all my will to play for that matter, since I don't really enjoy camping or tunnelling.
-
I don't hate Chucky, but Chucky players. Save for one, every player I've faced using Chucky has been camping and tunnelling, and his power has proven to be quite useful at it.

Ignore the unhooker simple or slug them
Wouldn't it be simpler to just not abuse a perk provided to prevent tunnelling? I hate tunnelling as much as the next guy and I never tunnel as a killer, but survivors have a way of abusing every single tool given to them. So yeah, a protection hit should disable DS. If that's done, I don't care how much they increase it to.
-
I can already picture the future of killer matches.
1.-Start chase, down survivor, hook survivor, 2 gens pop.
2.-Patrol area, find no one, go back to hook, try to hit the rescuer, be body blocked by the unhooked survivor.
3.-Try to punish the abuser by chasing them, 5 DS, the rest of the gens get done.
I really hope it's not the case, because i'm sick of survivors abusing their basekit BT to bodyblock, chasing them and then claiming it's tunnel. No, it's not. You abused a perk given to prevent tunnelling to try and make me waste time, it's fine. Don't complain about being hooked again, because that was your choice.

I have a similar feeling about Czech. I understand a couple of words (although I can neither read or write it) but it sounds a lot more... "Aggressive" than my mother tongue even though I am fully aware that not every Czech person is yelling at me. Or that's what I keep telling myself. English, I found to be very welcoming as a beginner learning the language. The pronunciation and orthography for your every day words seemed simple enough and you're surrounded by it pretty much all the time, so you have even more reason to get into it.
I have never been into learning different languages (other than English for some reason) but I respect the kind of dedication it takes. Sometimes though, you can find parallels between a country's history and their language and to a lesser degree the people. That is fascinating indeed. It is also said, that speaking Latin gives you an advantage in studying pure math. Although, the data on that is not very conclusive, from what I've seen.
I wish I had the time and ability to learn a bunch of languages, since I find being able to comunicate with other people in their native language to be something marvelous. Still, I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed nor do I invest that much time into learning, but I still have the basics to Japanese and French, and a very slight notion of German. I wish I was profficient with all those and being able to start learning more, but it's just not my forte.

Sounds kind of funny when you don't speak Spanish, not gonna lie. I especially like the part about "perks super rotos". I have no idea what it means (though I am fully capable of using google translate myself, tyvm) but it sounds funny. This is not meant to be offensive. It just sounds funny when you absolutely don't speak the language. As with (probably) every other language.
There are in fact some many sentences that I think must sound hilarious to other languages speakers, though I guess it also depends on the native language of the reader. I think it's safe to say that to most spanish native speakers (at least those from Spain) English looks way too menacing and complex. I wish more people would be interested in learning other languages, I find them fascinating.

I would like it to be just small things.
like elf ears
There must be some costume which brings elf ears. Doesn't the Christmas Dwight got them?
-
I know it's not gonna happen, but I would love to see some non-human survivors. Let's say, with the popularity of BG3, they introduce an elf survivor, or a dwarf (that would be hilarious and abused by every survivor player since they would be way less visible), or something like that.
-
I really don't get why people get so nervous around P100s. It doesn't necessarily mean they're the gods of DBD. True, chances are they are more likely to be good rather than bad, but still, I've faced P100s which I've downed easily while having a P1 looping me for the whole match.
I'd be more scared about a suspiciously SWF-looking lobby.
-
I, too, hit hooked survivors when they ran me for a long time, when I was new to the game, so I can understand when newer killers do it out of frustration. The facecamp and tunneling, though, I've never been a fan of. I'm glad you got out and sad the other, less experienced Dwight got tunneled... It does seem to be a bit more frecuent lately, however. Though my last week playing as killer has been hell, though, since gens fly, so I guess if it's the same for everyone they are trying to prevent it. Not saying I approve, though, but I can understand why they feel they need to do it.
-
I think that killer MMR takes into account your other killer's results too. It has happened the same to me several times. Generally it does tend to be quite lower than your average killer MMR, but it does seem to be affected by it nonetheless.
And tbh, it seems fair. Once you have learned to play as killer, changing the one you play as is not nearly the same as playing for the first time, so it shouldn't pit you against fresh new survivors.
-
It's true there's a lot to grind but I think it's still very easy to get into it. I started playing in between Sadako's and Dredge's chapters, and 1200 hours later I am still playing it and enjoying it.
-
Thanks everyone, I'll try using some slowdown perks, though I'm really not a fan of them. About the times I gave, yeah, it's an estimate, could be more, could be less. But really, playing as demo, I remember that match quite well. The Knight's map. I placed a portal right upon starting and when I was leaving the area I caught a Bill who was coming straight to me. There's no way the whole chase could have lasted for more than a minute, because he made many mistakes. I got the first hit free, then he run and tried to loop me across one of those lame structures that are on the edges of some maps, went for a vault and got caught. When I was going to hook him came another survivor, tried to blind me, took a hit, stayed trying to blind me, I hooked the Bill and proceeded to down the flashlight one not long after. While I was hooking that one, the Bill got rescued. Not long after that, 3 gens go pop. In fact, I reported them as hackers because honestly I thought that was the case, since survivors were being hooked quite fast I thought there was NO way they could have done gens. Specially after watching a video someone posted in the forums a few days ago of some subtle cheaters. There have been some other games quite similar to that, though not so fast, but I now doubt they were hackers.
For example Hawkins Lab. As long as there is one survivor I'm not seeing I am certain gens will be done because that map is huge, but I focused on the three survivors that were swarming me and I got a few hooks. Not complaining. Well, maybe a bit about the size of the map, but that was my choice. But I feel like if I leave these survivors to try and find the gen being done more gens will be done instead, so not really sure what to do.
Anyway, thanks, truly, to everyone who has stopped here to leave an opinion and advice. <3
I still love the game, and I still enjoy it in this case, it's just I was truly surprised by how fast gens are being done lately.
-
Thing is, most of the times, there was at least one survivor trying to prevent me from hooking their teammates, which in turn was downed, so while I was hooking that one, they rescued the other. How in heavens could they still do gens so fast and efficiently? And I doubt it's high MMR because survivors are actually quite bad. Damn, when I play survivor and on the rare ocassion I loop the killer for a couple minutes, one, maybe two gens get repaired at most.
-
I am so glad too that he is being added and excited to know more about him. BHVR is gathering quite a remarkable number of horror iconic characters in this game and I am having a blast. Thank you, BHVR! <3
-
If they could, they would have done it already. So I guess it's not only Sony the one causing problems with the cross progression. I can't imagine why would Microsoft prevent BHVR from acomplishing it, though.
-
Thanks!
