I usually play nice, even that will costs my match. But after reading the comments, should I continue to play nice?

When did this moral code that is about giving survivors more second chances started?

  • No, as a matter of fact I've started slugging more than usual.

  • I've tried the ruin + surveillance combo, it's actually good for hit and run tactics with Wraith and Ghostface. It's also good on Spirit and Freddy if you also add discordance to the build.

I even tried Ruin + surveillance + discordance on Clown and Legion and managed to get a 4K, but of course I had to sweat and try had more than before with them. I'm planning on trying this ruin + surveillance + discordance build on other M1 killers to see how it goes, I suppose it will give some information like it's supposed to, but I assume games will be more difficult and annoying than they were before. At this point I'm wondering if I should just stick to Freddy, Wraith, Ghostface, Jumpscare Myers and Spirit and never touch another killer again until the devs balance their game properly. It's silly that the nerfed ruin + surveillance is a buff for killers who were already strong and a nerf to killers who were already weak.

  • You will spend more time in queue than playing a match if you are on red ranks.

Dude there's no time for me to do that, first chase I hit two of them went after one she instantly went to that loop you know the one of macmillan with the stairs with a gen and chest sometimes basement? She went there I got her basement then boom teo two gens done and a third nearly done and then done as i approached it. I hit two people and hooked one in basement before a gen popped and it didn't do anything for me sucks. I can't play survivor because there are too many survivor mains and other killers left the game so I'm forced to play cuck role

Okay, you also need to start using map offerings; avoid farm maps, autohaven, red forest, ormond, haddonfield, crotus... and if you use a map offering for macmillan you need to equip bamboozle. In case you run out of map offerings use moris instead.

  • Don't try to hook everyone three times, try hooking two survivors 6 times while injuring/slugging the other two to keep them off gens or at least make them waste a pallet. If you do well you'll just need to do 8-10 hooks to get a 4k.

  • I agree it's not strong enough to be a hex, regression should be increased and it should also slightly increase gen repair time. It would be better the way it is if it wasn't a hex perk.

Also, it's weird how this ruin nerf can buff stronger killers while making the weak killers even weaker, new ruin makes jumpscare myers stronger and the ruin + surveillance combo makes killers like Billy, Spirit, Ghostface and Wraith even stronger. The combo is also extremely strong if you are playing Plague with black incense.

  • I can barely handle a good team of survivors with him, but if you want to make him stronger try playing jumpscare myers with the usual build; sloppy + thana.

I suppose you already know this isn't a build meant for chases, survivors can't really loop a jumpscare myers that knows what he's doing.

  • It's a game about four ######### messing around with someone else's generators while a babysitter desperately tries to keep them under control.

  • Even as a survivor the game has become much more boring for me. Survivor is now "easy mode" and an m1 simulator. I had already stopped playing killer as much as I used to before the patch, now I don't feel motivated to even play survivor. I'm gonna try civ now.

  • Survivors: Ruin got nerfed, stop crying, adapt and git gud.

    Also survivors: dc

  • It isn't bad as long as I am playing strong killers with strong add ons. Playing killer has become slightly harder and playing survivor much easier, boring and uninteresting for me.

  • Ruin + Surveillance is also good on stealth killers with hit and run tactics; Wraith and Ghostface.

Hag can't attack immediately out of teleportation right now.

Oh that sucks, I was starting to get better with her.

  • @FleshTorpedo said:

Well my main, Hag, is currently bugged, so playing on her is like trying to play a gimped trapper without traps. Played about 11 hours after the patch with about 8 of those on Hag, when I got tired of playing around the bugs I switched over to Freddy and a few other killers. Freddy with the right addons and the new ruin can slow down the initial gen rush fairly well. The Hag and the other killers that dont have high mobility basekits, suffered substantially if i didn't down/chase/trap someone within the first 30sec-1min.

On red forest spawning in running to the center building, put down four traps and two gens pop on the opposite side of the map, followed by the third a few seconds later when I get my first actual chase/trap going. I probably played a dozen or so matches on red forest as hag today, each of them had gens done within 5 minutes max, 1 or 2 chases, and came down to end game plays of hooking one survivor and using the survivors aultruism as a means to get more kills. Overall on larger maps the new playstyle is boring for both killers and survivors on lower mobility basekits.

On smaller maps, hag is still able to set traps and control the flow of how survivors move around the map fairy well but any mistake you make is heavily punished in lack of time. Add in the bugs the hag has, even maps like Hawkins lab can easily snowball on the hag.

    What's wrong with Hag?

  • I've had my first rage quit post ruin nerf today. I'm amazed that survivors still dc even when killers just got nerfed. ######### pathetic. I guess the nerf wasn't good enough.

  • I wouldn't really care and if it died I wouldn't be surprised.

  • Slugging two survivors and hooking the other two will become the new meta, at least for me. And I don't think the survivors are having fun.

  • I've noticed queue times have been getting longer, is it just me?

  • @Reinami said:

Seriously, games without ruin are so much more stressful as a killer. I can't play fair anymore, i have to slug and tunnel or i lose the game. Every game i play without ruin 2-3 gens done before the first chase is over. Between the chase, pallet looping and finding the first survivor it easily takes 80 seconds. Something needs to be done before ruin is nerfed.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CcDFyn25XXI

That wasn't just stressful or annoying for the killer, it was also unfun, annoying and stressful for the survivors; look at the postgame chat. While I understand why that Spirit camped the hooks, I can't dismiss the fact that having to resort to that strategy so early in game isn't fun for anyone. And in my opinion games like these, in which the killer has to resort to camp survivors till death so early in game in order to play a balanced game, are a symptom of the core issues this game has.

  • @Xerge said:

I've already changed my playstyle and I'm doing quite good. I just focus on two survivors until they're dead while just injuring or slugging the other two. It buys me some time, because I don't have to waste time hooking everyone to keep them off gens, plus I don't need to do 12 hooks to get a 4k, but just 8 instead. This has become the new meta for me.

Forgot to mention this playstyle seems to be more efficient if you are running surviellance.

Maybe I'll have to just grind to get into red ranks so I can see my beloved killer again

I'm also in red ranks. And I think I'd be right if I say I've played against three red rank and two purple rank nurses after the nerf.

  • As someone who actually plays more as survivor (because killer isn't very fun), I find playing against windows like the one in the ironworks of misery to be more unfun and annoying than any killer has ever been.

  • @horsegod386 said:

Has anyone even seen a nurse since her nerf? I haven't seen one and I play survivor in purple ranks everyday for multiple hours and multiple matches.

Can any dev give me the pick rate for nurse post nerf because I am genuinely curious about this?

I've seen a few. I miss playing against nurses. Being able to juke her felt more rewarding than looping killers around safe pallets.

I'm sure you're ready to show us all how killers can't apply enough pressure on small maps.

If you are fine with what you saw on that video I honestly don't know what to tell you; two survivors were camped to death on first hook, so I'm guessing that you either have fun being camped to death on first hook or have fun camping survivors to death on first hook. I don't and I don't think having to resort to this strategy so early in game is fun or healthy for most players, specially considering how much complaints about camping there are.

  • My first match today; four survivors running to the god loop at the ironworks of misery over and over again, I still managed to get two of them, but it was annoying and boring as hell, enough for today. Now I'm gonna play survvior and civ.

That was like 2 years ago, and it's not like I record my gameplay. I don't even think the marth88 depip squad exists anymore. I have posted plenty of screenshots on this forum to prove I am rank 1. Most of my clips are just me playing against streamers.

I am not reading your wall of text because I know at the end of the day, it was just a low key ruin nerf complaint. I don't even play with ruin most of the times, so I could care less if it gets nerfed.

Here's one of me dumpstering a rank 1 SWF. I still play against the ID SWF's and win most of the time, who is the main SWF squad that is worth anything at the moment.

    https://clips.twitch.tv/AbstruseBlazingSpindleKAPOW

I played against that guy yesterday. His first game last night was against me playing doc.

  • I also used to think big maps were the issue with gens, but experiencing scenarios like this, playing as both survivor and killer (1800 hours of play), in small maps made me realize gen speed is indeed a problem that shouldn't be dismissed.

  • I've been playing jumpacare myers against spinechill users, they seem to be afraid to do anything; do gens, go for hook rescues. It would seem the perk is hurting them more than helping.

  • @Yung_Slug said:

Wraith is actually not that weak. Just use the hit-and-run build: Corrupt Intervention, Sloppy Butcher, Thanataphobia, and Nurse's Calling with a windstorm and a clapper add-on.

You should try surviellance instead of Thana at least once, easier to track injured survivors working on gens. 😉

  • I think that if you don't play to win then you'll probably make some mistakes and not take advantage from a situation. In my opinion if you play to win you'll probably pay more attention to what you and the survivors are doing. This whole thing about killers just playing to have some fun, because otherwise they get frustrated or irritated, is a symptom of the issues this game has.

The Plague also seems to be rather inexperienced. She spent a lot of time just doing random things. She hooked the David and kinda just patrolled around him for 15 seconds instead of heading across the map where the survivors obviously were doing a gen. She also let the survivors lead her on a chase to the carousel twice when the generator was completed, with Bill and Dwight. They were both infected, so if they go over there, there's nothing for them to do. Best choice there is to leave them and pressure the objectives. She applied pretty much no pressure whatsoever the entire game, so yeah they're gonna fly through gens

I disagree. I don't consider using PGTW on the gen next to the hook after hooking a survivor "patrolling" and the map isn't big, both Dwight and Bill were always chased and downed near three gens.

So, the killer went against two newbies (we can't even see the killer and survivors rank in the vid...) and two coordinated players of which we don't know what ranks, items, addons and offerings they took into the game. This is one case out of how many? And it's not even well argumented cause of the lack of proved variables.

I'm just gonna ask 2 questions:

    1. If a killer 4k's early in a match regardless of how many gens are done, are the gens not fast enough? Even if the gens were done in less than 6 minutes, if the killer 4k in early game, are the gens not fast enough?
    2. If you got a 2k this way and the match ended in less than 6 minutes and at the end you'd have gotten "Ruthless killer" what would you have thought about the match?

I don't think the ranking system is relevant to the point I'm trying to make; in my opinion it shouldn't be possible that a team of average players at best, who are bad at looping the killer, are still able to finish gens in less than 6 minutes.

And as someone who thinks there's an issue with genspeed (or maybe with perks that buff repairs, I don't know); if a killer gets a 4k in 6 minutes or less, then that's most likely due to survivors makig mistakes, because there are resources and strategies to avoid that from happenning. On the other hand, judging by that video, it doesn't matter if the killer is playing decent and the survivors are playing badly going down relatively fast; gens can still get done in less than 6 minutes and it seems there's very little a killer can do to avoid it even when the killer is clearly outplaying the survivors at chases.

  • @Carlosylu said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1006480#Comment_1006480

That killer got a 2k in 5:37 seconds and those survivors got 2 escapes in 5:37 seconds... Was that a bad game for you? It was pretty balanced for both sides, the problem here was the outcome for the killer in terms of BP and pips.

You might be basing your argument on the "Entity Displeased" post game; as I said in one of my arguments, pipping down or black pipping cause gens were made has to be reworked. A 4k can be a de-pip if done in the early game, as in this case, a 2k, well played by both sides was a de pip Entity Displeased

BTW, "I don't think the issue are just maps.".

Where did I say "just maps"? Maps + Specific needed Killer Buffs or reworks + Pipping requirements

The only survivor who dropped a pallet (and failed the stun because he went down) was one, the other two went down relatively fast without dropping a single pallet and didn't seem to be very good at looping.

I'd say you've got a gen speed problem when even a team of survivors who don't seem to be very good at keeping the killer busy are able to finish the gens in less than 6 minutes.

  • Look at this video:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8UyEBSIUmlE

This Plague got 5 hooks in 5:37 minutes, that's almost one hook per minute which is pretty decent in my opinion and yet all gens were still done in less than 6 minutes on a small map.

I don't think the issue are just maps.

  • The only ones that are able to tell if a perk is crutch for you is yourself or people who are extremely familiar with your skill and playstyle; you/they may be right or it may be a psychological thing from your part.

  • @Xerge said:

I don't think there's much you can do besides practicing and learning from streamers, because matchmaking is busted right now.

You could try this build on Freddy, it works for me most of the time; Discordance or Ruin + surveillance + Pop goes the weasel + Enduring (for chases)

Oh, another playstyle that works for me; just focus on two survivors until they're dead if you can, just injure the other two or make them drop a palllet and scare them away if they're healthy.

  • @4fingeredfreddy said:

I downloaded this game maybe 2 months ago. I enjoyed the aspect of being able to play a killer and taking out a group of survivors. I've enjoyed playing Freddy a lot for the gen suppression benefits, the traps and pallets, and because of my childhood memories of nightmare on elm street. The game is great i will tell you that much. I love it still. But right now it seems that im at a huge disadvantage.

I know all you survivor mains are just gonna say "well git gud" or some dumb stuff, but just hear me out. Gen rushing is a huge problem right now. It already somewhat was to begin with, but now its insane. Every game it seems that im being dropped to 2 or 3 gens withing the first 5-7 minutes of the game. and im busting my ass trying not to be. I use dream projection almost on cooldown to get cross map and to divert where i know that the gens will be being done and i pallet and snare respectively as i should. but it seems nothing works to stop gens being rushed.

Its impossible to level any killers because the game ends before you can rack up more than 20k bp. Meaning the perks you need to actually do anything in the game seem so far that it makes you just not want to play. And thats a problem. Because lack of incoming playerbase is how games die.

Im not saying that survivors are necessarily too strong right now because that may not be the case, but i am saying there should be some sort of implementation to the game that can help towards eliminating gen rush so early. And i know all you killer mains are upset about ruin, but honestly, did it really even work? I mean, once you got past a certain level and start playing against better survivors, they could still rush you with a ruin. Or look for common totem locations and break the hex anyways. And tremors can be countered by spreading and doing gens cross map it seems. So I just feel we need a better way to at least slow it down.

I just think it seems out of hand, but I am open to suggestion that may help in any way because again I am a newer player. But toxicity solves nothing. So lets be cordial

  • There are two god loops on that map.

  • New ruin sounds weak and I think they shouldn't have nerfed it until they reworked the bigger maps. I'm curious to see how it turns out to be, but I don't have good expectations either playing survivor or killer.

  • I thought it was just a map issue, but gens can still be done in like 5:46 minutes on small maps even if the survivors aren't good at looping the killer.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8UyEBSIUmlE

EDIT: The issues are two; gen speed and bad map design.

  • I've never had any problems, I mean I've escaped from a few and been killed by a few. Not being able to reveal him sounds more like a dedicated servers issue.

Alright I normally lurk here but I do love these changes. DS's I have seen around and would prefer. NOED's sounds awesome, it's like how Rancor pops up at the end. Now would the totem spawn as the last gen powers up or would it spawn when they touch the gate?

I think it should spawn when someone touched the gate. Everyone else could get notified there's a hex but not suffer the exposed status effect; so they could either choose to look for the totem or risk it and try to open the exit gates.

Doing bones gets rid of the perk. And if you complain about a killer being able to one shot a survivor while moving a little faster, I am surprised more people don’t complain about Hill billy, Huntress, Leatherface, Plague, and Ghostface. They all have the ability to one shot a survivor, some conditions must be met but it’s always less conditions than NOED.

My rule to never die to NOED is always assume the killer has it. If you do, you play safer, be stealthy, and maybe running directly to an exit that the killer is definitely headed towards isn’t a good idea.

Its almost like the perk is trying to make survivors use their brains a little and make killers a bit more threatening so survivors might actually fear them for a bit instead of T bagging them to only stab them in the back because the killer “tunneled”

My deal is if you want the “No skill ez free kill” perk gone, I want the “you can’t hook me for 60 seconds and there isn’t anything you can do about it” perk gone.

That's the power of noed, it gets you paranoid. It's hard to tell how much impact the perk had in your match even if you aren't using it. I still use it ocassionally to keep survivors paranoid, but most of the time I don't reach the endgame with it, I still like to think it did some work and kept someone busy doing bones.

You don't have to be the best of the best. I'm not talking about god tier loopers.

I'm talking about survivors who know how to play smart. Survivors who may not be god tier loopers but can loop decently. Survivors who stay spread out and don't get slugged easily.

That's all you need to do really. On some maps, it's even easier for survivors.

Fyi, if you did get matched with god tier survivors, a 2k is unlikely unless they goof around. Most of the time all 4 survivors will be alive when the 5th gen is done.
