  • Wat?

Shouldn't the counter to anti-tunnel be ...not tunneling?

This is just the same problem we started with with extra steps.

Still prevent a tunneled survivor to get hooked twice or 3 times in a row. They're anti tunnel. Which also being used on other cases.

Just a proof that the perk combo is stronger than using OTR and DS.

I mean....then you just tunnel the BU/FtP user, idk if that's anti tunnel or volunteering to be tunneled lol.

  • While SM derangement syndrome is a very real thing and people blow how strong she is out of the water I do think she's a bit much.

She's kind of just better clown where you get to use both bottles at once in a way that takes much less effort. The speed boost and the hindered at the same time is kinda harsh I just have no idea what you would replace the hindered with. I would say deafened but I'm pretty sure people hate deafened lol.

  • The most important question of all

How many people are actually using dream pallet Freddy? 🤔

  • Probably happens 1 to 4 times a day for me a game just doesn't start cuz someone can't get into the game.

Not to mention even if they do get in there's usually at least one person with concerning ping. I don't know how much of it is DBD servers vs. people's Internet but it certainly happens much more on DBD compared to other games I play.

Because those perks are bad. While there are stronger option.

BU and FTP, and killers dont like that. Because those perks work

BU and FTP isn't anti tunnel they're just anti hooking in general considering it's most likely to happen on your first chase when everyone else is healthy.

I remember everyone was sure it was a Wendigo and lots of people were convinced it was an Until Dawn chapter lol iirc it was just his little hand or something

I feel like every time we get a possible forest creature chapter everyone automatically goes Wendigo and then automatically goes it must be an until dawn collab right after lol.

Not for nothing the Wendigos in that game didn't do anything interesting enough to flesh out a power.

  • I will laugh so hard that after all the cryptid style teasers the actual killer is an alien that's mutating people and it's actually another sci-fi chapter.

That would be 1000x more misleading than Skull Merchant ever was.

  • Technically the Twins teaser had Victor in it but it was so fast nobody could of guessed that what we were seeing was for legal purposes "not a baby" which is why I'm skeptical, not that I don't think that was the killer but I'm skeptical that was it's true form.

  • Trapper - Business

    Wraith - History or Law

    Hillbilly - HVAC

    Nurse - Biology

    Huntress - Environmental Science

    Doctor - Psychology

    Hag - Horticulture

    Clown - Chemistry

    Plague - Religious Study

    Spirit - Kendo Instructor

    Singularity - Engineering

    Skull Merchant - Also Business

    Knight - Warfare and Tactics

    Twins - Kindergarten

    Blight - Also Chemistry

    Deathslinger - Also Engineering

    Oni - History

    Dredge - Uuuhhhhh.....

  • Maybe a survivor shirt, the Dredge one is great I just refuse to drop $20 on a skin the one exception was xeno queen but I don't see myself ever doing that again.

  • I wonder if Freddy isn't actually bad just boring.

    1. Power that forces people to leave loops? Check

    2. Power with built in slowdown? Check

    3. Power with mobility that synergizes with some of the best perks in the game? Check

It's just that none of this is that interesting to actually use. Blood puddle is just pushing a button at loops you don't have to think about, the clocks are passive and you as the killer don't interact with them and the teleport is just something you do after a hook. Freddy actually has a lot of tools but only one of them has to do with chase and it's dull to use.

I think this also has to do with most people overvaluing micro play and undervaluing macro play. Most killers seem to look at this game as a series of 1v1s rather than a 4v1 so killers with macro powers seem to get undervalued because their chase tends to be weaker and that's all most people pay attention to. But let's be honest if chase was the only thing that mattered Slinger would be S tier and he obviously isn't.

Freddy on the other hand does have a little bit of everything, antiloop, macro slowdown, and mobility. Makes me wonder if most people's understanding of the game is actually completely wrong because this happens every time a macro killer releases they get severely underestimated, Cenobite, Twins and Knight come to mind.

The best killers are high-mobility killers. Pyramid Head and Deathslinger aren't viable at competitive levels.

Deathslinger no but Pyramid head's ability to tunnel makes him quite viable in comp. Plague and Artist are also viable and neither one of them are mobility killers.

It's not that slower killers aren't viable there are a few that very much are I'd argue it's just that they're harder to play and few people wanna put the work into learning them when high mobility is both viable and easy to play.

Either Bubba and Pyramid Head (both old and oldish) or he means Knight "camping with a guard", a common misconception by the uninformed who don't know that any guard will despawn if you touch a hooked survivor. I really guess its Knight, because he is a rather recent addition.

I'd actually relent on bubba and pyramid head because they are the best at camping and tunneling respectively but they said recent killers which is why I don't know what they're talking about.

  • I wanna know what killers were "designed" to camp and tunnel.

It seems like such a nonsense claim when most killers can't use their power around hooked survivors.

The trailer doesn’t usually drop before the PTB release, so I wouldn’t expect anything for Monday.

though idk if there is a stream announced for the release? Which probably would happen like right beforehand but they really only started with these recently and I don’t think it’s guaranteed for every PTB

Trailer is probably the wrong term, I mean we should get a final teaser and we should finally get the chapter name monday.

  • @Caiman said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3651491#Comment_3651491

They meant the teaser posted yesterday is probably the final one before they fully reveal the chapter.

Speaking of, when does everyone think they'll drop the reveal trailer? The PTB is in three days. I was hoping they'd drop it today but if not then I'm really hoping it's tomorrow.

They're usually off for the weekend we'll probably get the trailer Monday.

  • I honestly don't think it's that good, most gens aren't being worked on when it triggers meaning it isn't triggering DMS so most of the time it wears off by the time you get to a gen of you weren't on one, in addition it only triggers 4 times and if the 4th person is good at hiding it's 3 times and the majority of it's value is being denied.

I'm not saying it's not strong or that I like that encourages a build with 4 passive stall perks (although that's a different discussion entirely) I just think it's far from actually OP.

  • Does that cross out fleshgait too? Cuz that's the Internet version of basically the same thing.

  • Another thing to note is I watched the teaser a bunch more times and I think we're all focusing on the wrong thing. Because of course BHVR isn't going to straight up just show us the killer before the PTB.

    Screenshot (66).png

This thing might be more animal and furry than it first appears.

  • Although reading that over again it the teaser never actually strictly states it turns into Ashley only that the body was twisted and looked wrong. So as far as we know it actually only has ever mimicked sounds which is actually a lot more terrifying somehow.

  • No Tyler wasn't there and was calling Ashley's phone.

  • @Mooks said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3650606#Comment_3650606

I feel like it’s not impersonating but taking over/controlling the bodies to varying degrees?

The first story with Ashley said the narrator the could see Ashley but also a twisted version of Ashley which implies some level of shapeshifting,

  • That's just The Thing, I mean it's not "The Thing" but between the ability to impersonate people and the multiple mouths yeah no that's The Thing.

  • @Nos37 said:

I haven't seen much of the new teasers, so I don't know what kind of killer it will be.

I just hope it doesn't mislead players like The Legion did; making everyone think the killer can pretend to be a survivor to blend in for a surprise attack. SWF on comms would not allow such a killer to be viable.

What I would hope for instead is a killer that copies other killer's powers breifly and cycles between them, changing form every 60 seconds (or changing form everytime a generator is completed, or after hooking a survivor and being out of line-of-sight of survivors). The downside would be "why play X, Y, or Z killer, when I can play this killer and be X, Y, AND Z instead?"

All the teasers seem to stress the ability to mimic sound of both people and in one case a dog. So I don't think it'll be pretending to be a survivor so much as screwing around with people's audio which considering how important sound cues are in this game could be effective even against a SWF.

  • A lot of people are saying Wendigo or Skinwalker and BHVR was maybe even more clever than they realize setting this in Greenville. Because Skinwalker stories are specific to the Navajo and Wendigos are more specific to the tribes of the Appalachians.

So which one it is if either depends entirely if we're talking about Greenville, Utah or Greenville, South Carolina lol.

  • I think DBD is in a place where it needs to do this. It's pulled in as much of the old school crowd as it's gonna get. We need to include more recent things to draw new blood.

Those stats literally just came out. He was referencing stats from around the time of 6.1. Anyways, the current stats don’t mean much. The ceiling for high mmr is fairly low. I would bet most of the people on this forum are in it.

So everyone is in high MMR but magically only you get the actual high MMR survivors?

  • Considering nobody even tries to play against SM 70% isn't that surprising. Another number that isn't surprising is Doctor at 51%, it isn't talked about much but Doc is so hilariously terrible if you never get hit with the blast or can at least put it off as long as possible since Doc players rely on it to find people you can fool them easily into not checking on your gen if you have a locker near by. It always surprises me when I see Doc as high as I do in so many people's tier lists.

I'm glad I'm not crazy at there actually has been a real uptick in Legion like I've noticed, hate that but bleh they've always been somewhat popular.

Also I was told Distortion was a plague running rampant among survivors but apparently it's not even in the top 10 used perks lmao.

  • @woundcowboy said:

Also, unless you’re referencing stats i don’t know about, the 40% thing is disingenuous. 60% killrates were possible because of the eruptuon/overcharge meta, not because of the worthless .1% changes made to killer basekit.

Those numbers are official stats taken from last month.

Did eruption make a come back last month that none of us knew about?

  • Blight mains have assured me they should be 115%.

They haven't told me why but there's definitely a reason.... probably.

  • God no, we want less gen regression not more.

We should be buffing perks that do literally anything else besides regression and stall.

Buff tf out of Beast of Prey, Unrelenting, Hexes, Predator, Bloodhound, Overwhelming Presence, Hysteria, Fire Up, Genetic Limits, Etc.

Anything to give us a more interesting meta then kicking gens or perks that just block gens in the background.

  • @Mooks said:

Hm, new text messages seem to involve two people that are not related to the original story with Ashley, Tyler and unnamed girl. So I guess this is only really teasering the killer and not the survivor(s)

also, is PTB this week? Usually teasers start a week before PTB but I think based on the usual schedule it would be next week?

PTB is next week on the 20th, these teasers seem to be killer only yeah. I think these might be "survivors" the killer can mimic in the teasers. Which if you're mimicking NPCs I'm not sure how effective that's actually gonna be.

I feel like there's something really major about the power we don't know yet cuz while really fun the power is sounding really weak gameplay-wise.

  • Plague's tome outfit never coming to the store cuz they used it as a prime reward is so beyond gross tbh.

  • For me personally I'm mostly waiting for the ptb which I'm actually really excited for.

As for what we have now, meta is just kinda stale? As survivor you really only have 10 good perks to choose from and anything else is a meme and then beyond that people are mostly playing the same 4-5 killers that more or less all do the same thing of "go fast" which isn't that fun to go against. Then on top of that those killers are all running the same 6-7 perks most of which is gen regression or stall.

I guess to put it in simple terms the meta has settled and it's very narrow and that gets repetitive very quickly.

BHVR needs to be changing a lot more perks during each update IMO. I was always a bit meh at the way it felt like Blizzard made balanced changes not based on what was strong but rather just to shake up the meta cuz they could but now seeing BHVR do the opposite of that and only change things if they're broken I think I much prefer the shaking things up cuz you can philosophy of balancing. Game isn't bad or anything just boring.

  • Apparently it makes Wraith impossible to see as I can literally run up next to them to uncloak and they don't react until they hear the bell.

  • "Are you the Singularity? Cuz I really want you to test my gene integrity."

  • Hatch should be reworked not removed, honestly racing the killer to hatch is one of the most exciting things in this game as is trying your luck to find a key has egc ticks down.

I don't know why we want to remove interesting gameplay elements when we just need to fix the boring hostage situation that usually preludes it. As for hatch being "cheap" my answer is I honestly don't care if it is or if it isn't, it's fun.

Maybe if more people cared about fun over everything being perfectly balanced the community wouldn't be so miserable. It's honestly hypocrisy to me that so many people like to say having a comp scene in DBD is dumb while also playing sweaty AF and thinking the game should be balanced like it should have a comp scene.

  • Honestly one of the better lists I've seen posted on here

  • You can't convince me hatch shouldn't spawn at 2 survivors left. The hostage situation after 2 survivors dead is the most boring scenario in the game possible and it should be a priority to fix, although the hatch would need to be reworked.

-Still only opens automatically at 1 survivor alive

-Survivors can force the hatch open at 2 people alive after working on it for 30 seconds

-Broken Key opens the hatch in 20 seconds, Skeleton Key opens the hatch in 10 seconds, Iri Key opens it in 5 seconds

-If killer finds the hatch first they can smash the door and cave it in doubling the time it takes to open.

-Hatch can only be opened with keys in EGC like it is now.

  • I'm pretty sure they can't, it's the first original killer in a minute that hasn't been leaked there's not way they would give up on these ARG style teasers and then spoil it themselves lol. I mean I say not leaked there's been some but nothing conclusive or confirmed so this is the first time in a while we truly have no idea what we're getting.

It's a weird feeling and I'm happy we're getting a longer teaser period than usual as opposed to just a short 30 second one and done video teaser. Really dulls the annoyance of the PTB still being a week and a half off.

-> I'm chasing the same people because I only see them on my aura perks, what leads to unintentional tunneling

-> oh you will tunnel no matter what, because tunneling is strong

You guys need some logic lessons before take part in some discussions, really. Or maybe read better and do not give away your fantasies for reality, which does not relate to the post at all, idk.

You didn't refute any logic you just decided you were the entire DBD community and because it was having an effect on your games (when originally it seemed like you were talking about it from the perspective of survivor but okay) that can be used as a stand in for speaking about the game as a whole and then resorted to ad hominem. What part of logic is that?

You very clearly didn't read what I wrote at all, you just saw disagreement and got mad lmao.

  • All I'm seeing here is a bunch of people attributing random things they don't like to Distortion with tenuous links at best.

    1. Distortion does not make tunneling happen. Tunneling happens because it's the most efficient way to win and people are sweaty this has nothing to do with Distortion.

    2. Distortion does not make someone a stealth god unable to be found. It only comes up IF the killer has an aura perk and let's be honest the two most common ones either only happens for a few seconds at the beginning of the game or was already easily countered by lockers. If the killer is too lazy to check the rock by the gen that's on them.

    3. Distortion does not encourage selfish gameplay. This claim is the most baffling to me, how Distortion is the reason for soloQ potato's is incredibly ????. First off selfish stealth players have been around long before Distortion like the Claudette hiding in a bush and urban evasioning around the map so they can self-care in a corner later is a meme for a reason. They have literally always existed and always will regardless of whether they have access to Distortion or not. Even if you took Distortion away from them completely they're still not gonna do gens or unhook you, that's a player issue not a perk issue.

    4. You'll force more slowdown builds if everyone is using Distortion. This one has a bit of merit but I would blame BHVR for this one, if only two types of perks are viable (slowdown and aura) that seems like a core design issue rather than something Distortion is solely responsible for.

  • I think the amount of complaining is the same it's just the game is getting more and more balanced so people are having to reach harder and harder to complain about things so they just seem more ridiculous.

Not to bring this up again lest I reignite a dead argument but remember a month or two ago when people swore distortion was such a problem and needed a change? When was the last time that was brought up anywhere? Turns out it wasn't a problem and we're at the point where people complain just for the sake of complaining.

We're past the days of very valid complaints like old dead hard or old eruption. While annoying to read the current nonsensical complaints this is overall a very good thing.

  • PoV: You complain about the slightest bit of resistance from the other side.

  • I'll be honest whenever delete anything requests I assume they're from angry teenagers who don't have the slightest clue how game development works.

It's such an unserious thing to post.

  • I agree but for a completely different reason, I feel like everyone plays the same 4 killers. I only ever see Blight, Wesker, Legion, and Chucky. It's made worse by the fact they all do the same gd thing and it's just killer that moves fast which isn't the most engaging thing in the world to play against.

I don't even blame the devs entirely because we have interesting killers like Singularity, Huntress, Executioner, Cannibal when they're not camping, hell even Spirit is more engaging. But no it's game after game of "Oh wow I wonder if the killer is just going to run at me really fast with nothing for me to engage with" because people are lazy and can't be bothered learning any mechanics more complicated then running in a straight line.

  • I think the community can have absolutely unhinged takes and it's definitely the most entitled community but in terms of toxicity DBD is not close to the worst.

  • Renato and Thalita not getting skins for this is a crime.

  • I'd say Yun-Jin, Smash Hit is still hard to trigger against good killers even with the buff, Fast Track doesn't do enough for what it takes to trigger it and Self-preservation doesn't really make sense? If another survivor is getting hit you should be able to get away anyway? The only time it really does anything is if your sandbagging and you're just making it so you die later instead of sooner in that case.
