OoO, is toxic in SWF. It gives them constant information regarding the killers position which they share over voice chat. Give all survivors voice chat and balance the game around it, but giving OoO when it was designed around not having voice chat to an SWF, is toxic. Its really the only skill that breaks the game in its current state. Its why the OoO gets tunneled out as fast as possible. It was only recently fixed to not show stealth killers when cloaked, but still shows icon popping as if it was spine chill when they are cloaked. Then there is Freddy and OoO, which the devs have stated as intended, but how is that remotely balanced when OoO is primarily used in SWF. Oh they tell you to run blindness blocks, a useless addon, unless you are going against an SWF running OoO.
Sorry, but I fully disagree. It is not toxic for SWF to use a tool that was given to them. It is not toxic to use Dark Sense either. Or any other ability/perk that reveals the killer's location. Just like it is not toxic to stack BBQ, with other aura perks. It is just tools. We have to get over the ridiculous notion that players using a tool is toxic. No, players are toxic when they act like punks or brats during or after the game. Like survivors who depip just to face a low rank killer as an SWF and then toy with them the whole time. That is toxic. Using a perk...no, not even close.
This extends to keys and NOED as well. Using them is not toxic. I don't tunnel down a key holder. It's pointless, other players can just pick it up. No, I keep it in mind and try to end it before it comes to hatch.

Haha I love em cause they're the most relatable killer, the least psychotic among them imo.
I don't see anything relatable about them. They are by far the most pathetic of the killers with the weakest lore. To each their own though. GL.

Legion seem more like survivors to me.
I don't get Legion. Half the survivors could whoop their arses. They don't impress me at all. Just whiney 17 to 24 year olds sitting in the lodge worshipping a picture of Bernie Sanders while hoping none of their victims figure out they can't fight their way out of a wet paper bag. Seriously, David King or Tapp would destroy those punks
Maybe that's why they are the one killer I can't stomach running.

Solo queue its not toxic. SWF OoO is toxic. Its gives killers position on demand.
It's not toxic to use a perk in the game. How the player acts is what is toxic. I hate when survivors act like its toxic to run a shaman build (ruin, lullaby, DH, NOED). It's just perks.

I doubt that this "focus on new survivor players" is an idea from the devs. Sounds more like an instruction given to them by the bosses.
Sounds to me like the investors want the game to grow and be more profitable by attracting, and keeping, new players.
What a silly concept....longevity and growth. Good thing those other horror games are so good.......wait...nevermind.

From my research on Google, it originated from a film:
The phrase "I can count to potato" was first used in the 2005 comedy film The Ringer in which con man Steve Barker (played by Johnny Knoxville) pretends to be mentally disabled in order to compete in the Special Olympics
It then became a meme, then people used it to insult others online. I think we can guess why it was used...
I would think it spawned from the derogatory title of "couch potato", which refers to someone who sat around watching t.v. while doing nothing all the time. Insinuated a mindless laziness/inactive state.
-
Not sure why OoO is considered toxic? I mean, we argue to support the use of perks like NOED, even though we know it is a crutch perk outside of end game builds.
As for me, I don't play survivor much, but when I do, I rarely even consider OoO. I don't want to give my position away if I can help it.

You’re really making this more personal than it has to be. Never did I say I support tru3 or his gaming, in fact I’ve disagreed with his position most of the time.
However, if you pay attention to the OP, the subject is about the video made, if you cared enough to watch it, and are as competent as a player as you make yourself out to be, you’d also see that he makes a lot of excellent points.
No, not going for personal. Just saying people put way too much into what streamers say. I don't think BHVR has released details on their new system and for people to start attacking it is silly. Wait and learn. The amount of times people on this forum have thought the sky was falling due to a streamer's "thoughts" is insane.
Wait for details on the system.

Tru3 isn’t a dev: It doesn’t take a dev to understand what MMR is and how it affects a game, and tbh most of the time the Devs don’t act like devs.
Tru3 isn’t a time traveler: To be fair no one is a time traveler, unfair standard to hold anyone to.
Tru3 knows just as much as us: Tru3 may have the same information as we do, however, he knows how to break down the wording the devs choose to use in a manner most people aren’t able to, and if you able to as well, you can predict what will happen. Watch Tru3’s video in comparison to Pauli’s Esther’s and you’ll see what I’m talking about.
Stop taking his word for granted all the time. Remember him thinking GF was awful and now GF is played a lot and works well: Tru3 was right about GF being awful, the way GF is successful in his current state as a killer was because Tru3 popularized a new way to use his power, one no one had thought of.
Remember when he said New Doctor was gonna be awful but now he's turned out to be one of the most oppressive killers ever: New Doctor is actually not that great, he’s NOT a better Killer than before. One reason he is performing well is because survivors are still learning to adapt to his new play style. The only other reason he (and many other killers) are performing well is because the huge migration of skill-lacking survivors who have made their way into red ranks. Players who have quite a bit of experience in red ranks season after season can loop the Doctor all game without much effort.
Is that you True? Seriously, you are an expert in revisionism. True did not popularize anything. GF and the way True played him was already popularized by Monto and several others. In fact, you can almost time True's attempts to "create" builds and ideas after other streamers have already done it. True is a hack, and not even a good one. I've faced him before and he is extremely predictable. Compared to much better players, such as Zubatlel (whom I don't personally find entertaining in his streams), True is ok at best. I find his streams to be comical as he usually fails to identify his mistakes, instead blaming the game for them.
None of this matters though. Fan bois will defend, but we will all have to wait and see what happens.

This is absolutely correct. Many people put way too much stock in these streamers. These guys are wrong more than they are right. True is one of the more biased and tends to bloviate a lot on things, even when he is not in the know. He tried to talk about the leaked Doc changes and how they would make for a bad base kit, but was wrong on 80% of his assumptions.
I would not listen to these guys unless they have the background to put weight to their words.

SWF should never be separated from the rest. It is a game, there is absolutely no real ramifications from winning or losing. No money, contracts, or advertising gigs because the game is not a competitive game on the circuit.
SWF is not even that powerful most of the time. 90% of the time I find them easier due to overly altruistic groups. 8% is a good group that pushes my skills as a killer. Then there is that 2% bracket of hit squads that rule the roost. Ih well, next game. Isn't that what we tell survivors after they get face camped? Shouldn't have got downed and to just move on to the next gaem?
Let it go.

The survivors that are not bodyblocked have the option to literally finish the game. EGC can be activated this the game can not be held hostage for that 1 survivor. His ability to escape is prevented but the overall game is not being held hostage. All of you are crybaby entitled Survivors that think every game deserves to be 4 escapes.
Once more, get over yourselves. Activate the gates, get out and move on.
This thread is literally OP crying because his friend couldn’t escape with him as if this is a real life or death situation. It’s a ######### video game that is already a disaster.
They are not holding the game hostage. Wraith can attack at will and continue the game. The wraith is the one refusing to play the game. Furthermore, they will likely add a window to that room now, ruining a nice spot for a free hit. Thanks pal.
-
@FleshTorpedo said:
So you are refusing to open the gates and are trying to get this guy banned because your friend believes he is entitled to escaping?
Sounds like your friends going to die to end game collapse.
You do realize that a game official just posted in this thread with the link and a statement that they will get to the ticket as soon as they can, right? (Shiroku's response)
The killer was not protecting anything. He refused to play the game, stood in the only evt so the one player could not get out. Let all the gens get done and remained standing there. That is taking the game hostage and is not protected behavior.
Sometimes the people in this game surprise me with the depth of their blind bias, but it is not often. You, sir, are surprisingly blind as well as anyone else defending this behavior.
Edit: One more thing, thanks to this arsehat of a player (the Wraith) they will likely add a window to that room so it won't happen again. So this special snowflake (the wraith player) just gave survivors an easy out that was otherwise a guaranteed hit for my Trapper. So, killer mains, you should be pizzed at this guy, not defending him.
-
Pure BS. I've been playing mostly low tier killers all week and getting 3 and 4k in 80% of my matches. Trapper, Wraith, Pig, Plague and new Doc. When I use Ruin, which is more than I used old 20 second Ruin, it works just fine with the build.
The over reliance on ruin is the problem of most of the killers who are complaining. It became a crutch. They formed bad habits and don't want to admit they need to adapt.
I'm playing ranks 1-5 all week and have no issue beyond the occasional 4 man hit squad that chooses a large map. Ugh.

Well, i am colorblind, and requested a colorblind-mode for about 1,5 years. But the devs say its not a high priority, even though an option to change the color of auras as killer from red to almost anything else would help.
Scratchmarks and blood i can see only on indoor maps, on outdoor maps not at all.
I have to use such an option to be able to see the gen auras as a killer, so i really dont consider it cheating.
Others might have similar problems.
I play colorblind as well. Severe colorblindness. I can't see scratch marks at all. Blood pools are hard-to-see black spots that I can only really see on The Game. Many maps blend together, so survivors can be right in front of me without moving and I might miss them. I hunt through movement and prediction.
This game does not support colorblind players very well. It is what it is.
-
3 Gen works well on survivors who are not coordinated. Vs mid-rank solos, it is almost a guaranteed win. Vs a half-way decent SWF, it does not work as well. Solo survivors need to think about where gens are done at and try to work mid-out. Don't do gens on one side. Try to hit one or two in the middle. Break them up.
I'll admit, when you have a solo group and you have a doc, Clown, hag, spirit, nurse, etc 3-gen'ing, it is super, super annoying. Especially when you are the only dumbarse trying to break it up.

Insert: "Why not both" meme here.
I know end game builds are memes but if they are fun for them why shouldn't they go full meme?
Killer role is widely considered too stressful atm so who cares if they have fun.
I don't understand "killer role is too stressful" concept lately. The game is not that hard. The killer role is not that hard. Win some, lose some. I just sit back and enjoy. If I get creamed, so be it. I try to have fun no matter what. I stopped stressing over playing killer over a year ago. It makes it much more fun.

Hello. I don't play killers that much, but I've always used Ruin. Now, when Ruin is "nerfed", does it feel in the game? I thought I'd start using NOED, but I don't have much experiences. Should I?
If you play NOED as part of a build, it is very powerful and can make for a fun build.
I'll say this on just running it to run it. When I started playing as killer, I ran NOED a lot and was paranoid of getting beat. NOED became a severe crutch for me and I did not care to focus on my mistakes. I had a guy who had played killer since the start talk with me after a match and he was really cool about it. Gave me a bunch of tips on things I did wrong, and what to do to get better. One of this first tips was to not rely on NOED. He said there is nothing wrong with using it as part of a build, but relying on it is a crutch. If I stop using it, I'll get scorched, but can learn from mistakes.
He was absolutely right. I stopped using it, got destroyed a few times....many times, but got much better. Now, I will use NOED as part of a Insta-down build, or end-game build, but I don't need it to feel like I can win.
Good luck.

The problem is, many survivors are now creating fresh profiles to fake a Rank 20 just to take advantage of the begginner survivors, regardless of matchmaking. I had one on Xbox earlier who clearly was not a rank 20, and as far as I'm aware, you can't de-pip past 15. They literally god looped me everywhere, and had T3 perks. As long as work arounds like this exist, killers are just going to leave more and more.
Not just survivors doing this. I watched my son play 3 matches last night before he once again quit the game. 2 were with rank 19 and 20 Billy's who never ran into a thing, had full t3 perks, clearly knew how to mind game loops, and never missed with the chainsaw. Clearly they were smurf accounts. The last match was vs a rank 7 Spirit, that was fun for a rank 20.....
Both killer and survivors game the system and until the player population dramatically increases, there is little that can be done. There are not enough players to punish this activity, which many other games do, or to separate skilled and new while ensuring timely matches.
I could be wrong, but the developers seem to finally be looking at ways to grow the player base. The largest portion is the survivor base, but they have to be careful not to destroy the killer base in the meantime. At the moment, the killer base is proportionately larger than it needs to be in all ranks. That is why the killer que times are significantly longer than survivor (on PC). They need to be careful not to swing that too far in the other direction.

It's because I remember how the game was and how hard killers had to fight both the survivors and the devs for changes that I think they're completely biased. I remember what launch was like and I'll never forget it. How long did it take, how many months of forum posts and feedback for them to start giving killers the buffs and survivors the nerfs that was needed? All the while spouting that ######### was "fine". Anytime I hear someone talk about survivors getting "nerfed" from way back when I immediately lose any interest in talking to that person.
If you think survivor was balanced a year or 2 ago and that those nerfs were wrong then you're delusional.
I never said the game is balanced. I said it is much better than it was. I also said survivors have been nerfed significantly, of which they have. Old DS, old healing, MoM (a fiasco from the start that never should have been added to the game), and several other things.
Killers are better off than what the whiners on this forum make it seem as well. There are lots of things that need to be addressed, but not so it tips balance. For instance, I'd like to see a perk to protect totems for a set amount of time similar to Corrupt Intervention.
The answer is in looking for things that do not cripple an entire bracket of survivors or killers. Gen time changes favor bad killer who hang out at lower ranks just to focus on camping and tunneling. That makes it harder to attract and keep new players and hurts the game as a whole. I'd rather see other, more creative ways, to help killers get more map pressure, not ways that assist lazy play styles.

I feel like a parrot at this point with how often I'm replying to similar questions. But I guess ya gotta work for a cause.
Toolboxes are NOT getting nerfed, atleast not definitively. They SAID they're looking at them, and looking for potential ways to make them more "fun". You can choose to interpret that as "We're going to nerf them", but I strong believe in taking that as "If by some chance we do change them we'll look for a way to make them mechanically different, maybe even add in a mini game."
They literally already said they're not only fine with 4-5 minute games but that's basically what they want out of DBD. What reason do they have to nerf toolboxes?
Also you lost my faith when you said gen pressure. Nice meme. Even I thought it was only a rare occurrence until I also started getting matches where literally just walking to a gen was enough time for ######### to fly. Chase a survivor? If they have safe pallets or strong loops god have mercy on the other gens cause those ######### things are gone.
Not exactly worried about having your faith. Facts are facts. If you learn to focus more on the gens than individual survivors, you do better. The highly coordinated SWF is another thing all together. If all survivors played that well, this would be a huge issue. I got owned by one last night, but that was a 1 time match out of more than 20.
As for boxes, they will make them more fun, but likely address their speed.
Survivors spent 18 months getting nerfed. It was some of those nerfs, combined with the high propensity for crappy teams and camping killers, that pushed me into killer mode almost 2 years ago. To say they are survivor sided is short sighted and lacking memory.
-
They are also looking to nerf toolboxes. You guys have to get over yourself. Of my last 25 matches at red ranks, I've had only 7 escapes. 4 of them came in one match where I tried a new build and strategy where I made a ton of mistakes.
Killer is harder than survivor, but not hard to play. The problem with most of the whining is that too many killers don't know how to adapt, they don't keep gen pressure in mind, and they zero in on the chase over all else.

It's on our to-do list. The issue is that some perks are very easy to buff (simple number tweaks) while others are a little less so. Monstrous Shrine is actually a great example of that so I'm glad you brought it up. In Monstrous Shrine's case, increasing the numbers probably isn't the way to go about it (unless you really want Basement Bubba to be meta). Monstrous Shrine would likely need a new effect, which takes a lot more time.
I have an idea for MS. Make it similar to corrupt intervention. Totems become protected for x amount of time due to the Entity blocking them from destruction. It would be nice to know we get at least a minute or 2 to apply pressure before our totem blows up.
-
As a killer, I've been saying this all along. When I used to play survivor, I saw all kinds of styles, but the ones that worked best were the ones that were hard to predict. They would peel off suddenly and be in another part of the map. They would not follow to dead zones, or play with infinite loops. They waited until I was in a vulnerable spot.
When I switched to killer around 20 months ago, I started off as a fearful killer. I ran NOED, Ruin, and anything else that would ensure victory. I had a good conversation with a player who mained killer, but was playing survivor that day. He gave me some great advice. Told me to stop fearing a loss. Told me to develop a style and try to avoid pointless actions. I dropped NOED as a crutch and only use it as part of a build now. I started forcing matches without Ruin. I got my butt kicked a lot, but I learned and got better.
When I play survivor with the wife, I see killers that won't drop a chase for anything. They fear losing a hook. They panic when they see a gen or two pop. They make a series of bad decisions and start depending too much on perks as opposed to their own abilities. Then I see a good killer who kicks the crap out of us with a Clown and one perk.
Play style and decisions matter. Are there things that need to be addressed, like tool boxes? YES! But this forum is filled with those that blame everything else other than themselves for losses.
-
5% would be better than nothing. I don't want to see them nerfed to the ground, but they should be limited. I think only one box should effect a gen at a time. Makes no sense that you can repair faster with 3 toolboxes on such a small gen.
Better addons that don't increase speed. Maybe addons that slow the rate of regression, or increase great skill check area while increasing the number of checks (there is already a cap on how many GSCs effect within a time period).
There are lots of ways of keeping them useful while slowing them down. Heck, what if boxes did not effect speed at all, but greatly limited the amount of skill checks you get?

With new DS, I get stunned way more often, than before the rework. And even if I don't get stunned, DS is still doing its work by keeping every survivor alive in the match for atleast 2 minutes each. Its basically impossible to snowball with new DS now, even less so when Unbreakable is involved.
If you are not able to snowball, you are not doing something right. I don't say that to be mean, I learned this lesson myself over a year ago. Snowballing the match has zero to do with DS or Ruin. It has everything to do with playstyle and decisions. Yes, there are some circumstances where the killer gets totally hosed beyond his control, like a 4-man squad of highly skilled survivors, but those are not the norm.
I main Trapper, with a smattering of Doc, Pig and lately a tad of Huntress. I have no problem snowballing 80-90% of my matches. It is about being willing to let go of some things to take advantage of others. I lose 2-3 gens with Trapper in the start because I'm setting up my field. Keeping them off 4-5 gens I chose to trap up. Then the snowball begins. They get pushed to a smaller area of gens. I don't chase outside of that area unless it benefits me to do so. I keep the traps up, I keep the pressure on those gens. I'm willing to stop and kick the gen when the survivor runs off, because I know I have the area trapped, or I know he is running off towards a bad loop, or maybe towards an infinite loop. Let that gen tick down while I chase.
DS is not something I have to worry about too often, because I'm busy pressuring the field, not chasing the unhooked survivor. If they come out to me, or there is only 2 left, then I tend to run into DS. I eat it and move on. Now they have and empty perk slot and are weaker.
-
@ABannedCat said:
Old Decisive Strike was less powerful than the new one.
Non-obsession DS rarely got into play, obsession DS could be dribbled, and its stun was shorter. Plus Enduring reduced it massively.
I used to eat 4 DS shots before my first hook. Nope. Not on board with this one.
My opinion:
The survivors and killers on these forums that cry the most are usually making huge mistakes in the game that cost them. ie: Chasing a survivor for way too long OR hitting gens and ignoring totems only to get demolished by NOED.

It's all childish to begin with. Very vocal minority on both sides in these forums. I really hope the devs take all the whining with a grain of salt.
Ruin was pointless to begin with. I stopped using it regularly a long time ago. It gets destroyed too fast, leaving me with only 3 perks. Add in the skill of red and most purple rank players and ruin did pretty much nothing.
If the ruin changes are crippling your killer game, you depend on crappy survivors too much.
-
The Game. Would love to see an updated version.
-
No, I don't agree. Trapper is not known for great map pressure, but fair just fine vs 4 toolboxes. I will often 2k vs 4 man SWF with boxes, but there is little room for error.
The biggest problem many killers have is they blame the game instead of addressing what they did wrong in the match. I screwed up last night in a match because I followed a survivor for way too long and lost 3 gens. I had several opportunities to drop off and hit the gen I heard being worked on, but did not. I let this survivor's skill and mind games get in my head and it cost me. Luckily, I switched up and still go a 3k out of it, but I knew it was my own fault. Initially, I was frustrated with hit boxes on pallets, but quickly remembered my own stupidity.
On the flip side, I ran around with a killer for 4 gens and watched him cry about gen times. Yet, he followed me for more than 5 minutes making tons of mistakes. I purposely kept him away from gens as much as I could and he zeroed in. That was not a gen time issue, it was bad choices and he paid for it.
Before you blame gen timers, think about your choices and how many mistakes you made in the match. Then look at the several shortfalls of the game.

I'm seeing something different, Killer que times are instant where as survivor que times are at least 15 minutes. And this is at rank 1 to 20.
My friend who is trying the doctor out, noticed the instant que time for killer at rank 20, and when he tried survivor it was at least 15 min for him.
My wife has a killer que time of around 10 to 12 minutes at rank 12 on Steam. Her survivor que time is less than 3 minutes. Both are comparable to my experience at red ranks, just longer for killer.
-
Most of it will come from how killers are playing him. I've noticed less super annoying 3 gen strategies, and more engaging games with doctor.
My advice is to run Calm Spirit for a bit. Or don't, because I don't want you all running it when I'm playing Doc.

So you play as any decent killer would. Ruin is just win more, if the survivors are letting you put enough pressure out there then it works, good survivors will make that pointless.
Good killers can confuse good survivors. If you are predictable, they will eat you alive.
We will never agree on this, so you hold on to your view and I'll hold on to mine. Good luck out there.
-
Seen NOED maybe twice in 20 or more survivor games this past weekend. Not becoming a problem. The problem is when I cleans 4 totems, while still participating in gens, rescues, and chases, but NOED pops up at the end of the match because nobody else did one freaking totem.
Luckily, DH showed me the nasty lil bug of a totem and I was able to eliminate it. Cleanse totems!!
Wait...no, don't cleans totems. That way my You Can't Leave build still works. :)
-
Actually, you should.
If you face camped and did not engage the game, you should depip vs decent survivors.
If you played super immersed and did not engage the objective, killer, or other survivors much, you will and should likely depip.
Had a match earlier where the only survivor to escape was a Laurie who UE'd all over the map. She did a couple totems and one gen, but mostly sat hidden. She ended with an escape and less than 10k points. How do you do that?! Oh, all 5 gens were done, and another player got the door open before being downed. She left and he died on his only hook.
Yep, you should depip if you did not do enough in the game. I'm good with that. (Not saying YOU in particular OP, just a generic "you".)

@Lucama I face good survivors all the time. I don't just drop chases constantly, but I don't stick to every chase like a hound dog either. If I see more benefit to pressuring gens and trying to catch a survivor out of position, near a bad loop, then I do that. Therefore, keeping them off the gens works well. I don't waste time just to get one down and lose 3 gens. That is not beneficial to any killer in my book.
I have had 1 survivor escape all night, and the funny part is he was the only non red/purple rank survivor I faced. I've had multiple swfs and some really good groups, but I pick my fights well. This was a good night, admittedly. Tomorrow might be filled with me getting lots of hooks and seeing 2 escape, but that is how it goes. Ruin has nothing to do with either set of matches. How I play and the mistakes I either make or capitalize on do.

Oh, sorry, I've also faced him at least 7 times tonight and had a good time. Most docs seem to be moving away from the 3-gen strategy and I have seen a wide variety of perk usage. Some, not so good, like Franklins vs a group of survivors with no items. Kind of funny. Either way, 7 docs and 5 deaths, but it was fun.

@twistedmonkey You are likely correct. I'm in NA/Midwest and I've been getting fast survivor groups with my wife all night. Our longest wait was around 4 minutes. Average is 3. Killer is a bit slower, but I attribute that to a lot of people trying out new Doc.
I don't think anything BHVR has done is affecting que times. It is just the normal ebb and flow of patches and changes.

I ran ruin on Trapper, New Doc, Pig and Shape today. I noticed survivors ignoring it more so than usual. My play style is very aggressive in gen protection, so it worked very well for me. I'm more than willing to peel off of a chase to nowhere in order to keep pushing people off gens. Now, I don't have to take the time to kick them when I chase them off. My matches snowballed much faster due to that.
My play style is now how others use it though. I played a bit of survivor tonight and saw many killers trying to rely on ruin while camping/tunneling a survivor down. Ruin did nothing for them because survivors sat on gens. I ran a killer for three gens in an area of the map where there were no gens. That was insane to me. Why chase me in a dead zone when you are losing gens? He expected ruin to do his work and it won't do it anymore.
Is that good or bad? I don't know. I do know that killers will have to be smarter in order to make it work for them.
Honestly, I broke my reliance on Ruin almost a year ago. I got tired of it going bye-bye in 2 minutes and then I'm down to 3 perks for the game. If I ran BW, I'm down to 2 until they open gates. Nope. I started getting creative and found things that work for me. What works for me, might not work for others though.

I have not noticed a change in either survivor or killer que times. Played a lot over the past week and survivor que times are steadily 5 minutes or less while killer que times range between 15 minutes to 20 minutes on steam.
Are you on console?

I would definitely be ok with a harder rank system. Harder for both killers and survivors. Weed out the players that are not really top-tier material. Furthermore, give a bp boost to red and purple ranks. Or something. Make it worth going there.

30 minute killer queues? Now you're lying to make a point....
Deathgarden failed for more reasons than "not being able to retain new and old players". The same way evolve did. Just because the game type is similar doesnt mean you can compare it to them as to how they fail.
You cant speak for the core group, as you, just like I am, are a single person.
It's a simple logic in every business. You dont alienate your core consumers to attract new ones. That's how old people leave, new people come in, and the cycle continues until no new people are coming in, as your newest wave of "veterans" decides to go.
Yes, you want new customers, but not at the cost of your supporters who have been there.
Lying my ass. I sat in ques all night for rank 4 to 7. Average wait time was 20 to 30 on Steam.

If your core base that has played it for 3 years stops playing, you close down.
New players come and go here because of tie ins (ST) and the fact that most refuse to actually LEARN the game. They want it to be easy, and cant stand to look up a video. But guess what, they already paid.
They have money from the new players wether they quit or not. However if your actual core playerbase quits, theres no more DLC or cosmetic purchases from them regularly. Theres no playerbase to actually keep the game running. Especially if it's the veteran killers that leave. Theres no veterans to make videos or give information TO the new players, in turn giving them less reason to stay because they're COMPLETELY in the dark as to what to do.
Focusing on just new players to "keep you alive" isnt ever going to work. Catering to the newcomers while alienating those who have supported you, THROUGH ######### DECISIONS AND TIMES, is simply a suicidal business practice.
Tell that to Death Garden and so many others.
The bulk of the core group is not going anywhere. I've sat in 30 minute killer ques all weekend.
