  • @Condorloco_26

I agree with your assessment. "Old Guard" like us are not the norm anymore. I remember when online games were just starting. Heck, I was part of a major raiding guild in Everquest, back when death equaled loss of level and all gear. There was a high level of gentlemen's agreement in many of those games. You lose, you have some respect for the game. You win, you do the same. That is lost on many who grew up as keyboard warriors.

It is sad, but true. I expect it from the players now, but I am surprised to see it endorsed by the actual developers and managers. It is a sad thing to see.

GL out there, and hope you continue to draw some enjoyment out of the game Condor.

  • @DemonDaddy I misunderstood your post then, and agree completely with you. The concept of winning with grace is completely lost on the majority of DbD's players.

  • Though I don't doubt that a good chunk of them are rage quits, I do have to say that there is an issue in this game with disconnects that are not related to intentional actions. Due to long que times as killer, I played a lot of survivor this past weekend and I was disconnected from host on a ridiculous amount of games. Not just me, but a couple of friends that played on comms, not in my matches, but other matches (they are much lower rank) had the same issue. Some were at the worst times, like when I got hit by a clown and suddenly disconnected. Or when I was the second to last survivor and got hooked. I'm hitting space bar and then disconnected. My net signal is good, and my son is connected to the net just fine, but I'm booted.

I've had it happen in the first 30 seconds of some matches. I counted 11 matches (did not count the first 3-5) over a total of 17 hours of game play in which I lost connection. I've become convinced that BHVR has an issue on their side, since I've not had a single issue as killer since last night. Not a single lost connection as killer, but lots of DC's of the survivors. I run Trapper, so not that many people that rage quit when they see a trap on the ground.

  • @DemonDaddy That is a weak argument, considering not every survivor does that. Just like not every killer hacks, or camps, or tunnels. I have never teabagged, or hung out at the exit. I find it childish, and revolting behavior. I grew up in an era where you treated your opponent with a certain level of respect, especially in a game meant to be casual and fun. Yet, by your standards, I'm fair game to be treated like crap? Seriously....life must suck for people who think like that.

  • @not_Queen

Are you kidding me?! Toying with your opponent, and effectively taunting/harassing them is something you are using game lore to defend?! You wonder why this game is so F'ed up to begin with? You guys support the worst elements of human kind. You encourage azzhats to be azzhats. Whether it be survivors or killers, you guys are the source of the problem.

I get that this is a slasher game. I get that it is sort of pvp,. But to act like this game is anything other than a casual game is pure insanity. There is no semblance of balance, which eliminates competitive game status. It is about jump scares and having fun. Yet, you endorse a killer who is essentially torturing an actual player by using the game mechanics to force him to sit in a hopeless game for his own pleasure? That is seriously F'ed up!

By your own explanation, survivors should be encouraged to taunt, make fun of, and say dang near anything they want in after-game chat. Why? They beat the entity. To the victor goes the spoils, and they have a right to sound off against the horrible monster, who clearly has no feelings. (Sound ridiculous? Yes, it does, because these are actual people just trying to have fun.)

I've always walked a balance of survivor/killer and have tried to understand both sides. At the same time, I've long wondered why BHVR allows half the behavior they allow, from mostly survivors. Now, I finally get it. You guys truly are the source of the problem. A bunch of immature adults who don't feel any level of responsibility to create an atmosphere that supports the game you made. (Again...casual at best.) This may finally be my last straw. I've wanted to believe this game would get better, but listening to you and other devs/community managers has made it clear that you support the most wretched personalities that play this game over those who just want to enjoy what you created and laugh/scream.

Unbelievable…. flame away fanbois…...the rate this game is going, I give it less than 13 months before you are under 7k players.

  • I can't even defend the killer community on this forum anymore. Too whiney and knee jerk reactionary.

If you can't see why this change was needed, you are just too short sighted.

  • Wait, because your feedback did not fall in line with their changes you are throwing a fit and going home? Life is going to be rough for that snowflake.

As for those saying the overwhelming feedback was that the changes were too harsh, you are greatly mistaken. You are taking the feedback from this hall of tears we call the general forums and considering it to have more weight than it does. Less than 10% of the players post here. There is also Reddit, and direct feedback through appropriate channels.

This forum represents a small minority of the player base. Try to keep that in perspective.

Legion changes are good for the game overall. The player base started its downward slide with Legion's release. Its about time it was addressed.

  • Wow, that is really poor customer service. Not sure how they even consider themselves a customer service department with that kind of crap. I mean, if you lost your legacy, they should be able to determine if you had it to begin with. If so, return it, if not...nice try.

  • No, please don't. Minutes after it was over, I noticed a slight shift in game play. Less moris, camping, tunneling. Less toxicity from survivors, and much shorter que time as killer.

Events bring out the worst element in this game, and the element is already bad enough. Please, no more bloodhunts.

  • I don't think the killer should be revealed, but I do think the survivor's equipment should not be revealed. I'd be fine with just seeing 4 names in my lobby with no character information. If survivors risk running perks that really don't work well vs certain killers, then killers should risk running Franklin's only to learn nobody has an item.

  • Too many long que's as killer. Too many smurfed killers as survivor+brain dead survivors as a solo. Pretty much the norm, except now I can play killer again.

  • @Bbbrian2013 I agree. I switched to playing primarily killer a while back because of that and most of my friends quitting the game. I just normally enjoy quick times as killer. I forgot how Blood Hunt kills our times so much.

  • Then why are mid rank killer ques are horrible?! Survivor is near instant, killer is 10+ minutes just to end up in a 3v1.

  • So, I've been playing a little survivor due to long killer que times the past few days, and I've been disconnected from host at least 10 times in a little over 6 hours of play. Once was with a killer who decided to farm with us after only 2 of us loaded in.

I know there are lots of rage quits, but I'm convinced many are not. These game drops are at all times too. I'll be in a chase and it drops, or working on a totem. Heck, it even dropped me as I was escaping.

I know it's not my connection as my wife is still connected to her game and my net speed never changes.

  • Happened to me several times. Great stuff.

  • @Orion I don't know what you are talking about. I only play on PC and my killer times constantly get extended, while my survivor times are almost always instant. The Chinese New Year event is the only time where survivor times got extended, whereas every time I turn around, such as this Blood hunt, the killer que times are 5-10 minutes or more.

Survivor shortages are always an issue for red ranks and sometimes even purple and yellow ranks. Quite frankly, I'm tired of waiting 10+ minutes per match as a killer at rank 8-10. We lose more survivor mains, and those times increase.

  • I prestiged at first, but stopped. It is not worth it. I have Trapper, Shape, and Claud to P3 and regret spending all the points on them. I have Pig at P2 and that is when I stopped.

I now have Meg, Hag and Trapper with all perks and more addons than I can use half the time. Working on Doc and Jeff now.

  • This whole community sucks horribly. Survivors are toxic or crying foul in 70% of the matches. Killers are head-nodding campers and tunnelers in 70% of survivor matches I play.

The devs/community managers let too much slide for too long. The game is filled with azzhats now and you either ignore them or move on. I miss games with small communities that were decent people. Yes, they existed. I played in several of them.

  • @Orion Yet, it is more often the case that there are not enough survivors and too many killers, thus creating long que times for killers. Sooner or later, both "mains" will have to admit that if they want a healthy game, it needs to be balanced around enjoyment of play, not winning and losing. Dying as a survivor can be fun, if the game itself was fun. I've had matches as killer where I had a blast, got a ton of bp, and 3 survivors escaped.

At some point, it has to stop being about killing and surviving and more about quality of game play. It does not help that this is such a toxic community and the game all but encourages toxic play styles.

  • He needs a friend is what he needs. And a chiropractor.

  • 4k in the end and we are still complaining? You even admit the killer is not very good.

I main Trapper, and I usually lose 2-3 gens setting the field with my traps. Then the slaughter kicks in. I 3-4k every match with the occasional 4 man hit squad getting 2-3 out.

It is how Trapper and hag work. They give up gens and pressure to trap the field. Then they take over.

  • This is a non issue. Seriously, of all the things to address, chest loot is not on that list. I have had only 1 key escape from a chest in the past month. Adding this effect to coins would be rediculous. How would you feel if the survivor coin offerings gave a 30% chance of 2 rare items as well as more chests?

    That sound fair?

Both sound insane to me. Chests are fine. Fix the more important crap.

  • Scream barely registers as a horror movie. Whiney teens kill some people while talking about rules of a horror movie. I laughed more than anything else. Ghostface is low tier in the horror lineup. All I hear when I see him is the two main killers whining about who cut who too deep, and how one was upset because his mommy was gone.

Yeah, scary. Scream movies are another version of 90s teenage angst films.

  • @gantes that is something that has been baffling me for a long time. All the "feedback" on this forum is often laden with a heavy dose of speculation about how often killers kill and survivors live. A simple monthly stat roll out would show whether there is a lot to do about nothing, or a real problem. Quite frankly, it would possibly make things more civil as well.

WARNING!! THIS NEXT PART IS PURELY HYPOTHETICAL AND NOT MEANT TO BE AN ASSUMPTION OF FACT!!

If we were to see that survival rates were 35% and the stated goal was 50%, and a perk like MoM boosted the rate to 40%, there would be little bitching room about the perk. It would be doing its job, but not unbalanced. But, we don't get that information. So it could be swinging the stats too far, thus creating imbalance. Then Thanos has to snap his fingers again.

  • Still don't get the Pig nerf. Was looking forward to playing against her in end game with the changes. She has now been forced into one strategy with her traps. Use them asap. Boring.

  • My bad, I forgot that fun is no longer part of this game.

  • Vocal minority when it comes to MoM. I have zero problems with it and I run Trapper and Hag mostly. Not like they are OP killers.

  • Survivor: Dance with me or Quick and quiet. I don't bother with exhaustion perks a lot of time with Dance. I can ditch killers using it. Nothing like watching the killer continue the wall loop after I'm gone.

Killer: BW - I love when you slug one just long enough for them to open the gates and then watch them try to teabag after you hook the slug. I snicker every time.

  • As everyone has said, your P2P experience is not the same as dedicated servers. That said, if you have a crap connection and are a killer main who hosts games now, you will see a significant difference in your ability to play on dedicated servers. Instead of the survivor suffering due to your lag, you will suffer. Survivors will be harder to chase and hit.

Your communication with the server will depend on your net connection. The server will remain the constant. If you've ever played PVP in an MMO, you know this to be true.

  • @rha it is not necessarily about end game builds. If I'm facing a coordinated team, it serves me to hold back traps to try to delay end game by trapping 2-3 when 1 gen is left. The group will either slow the last gen, or try to divert my attention from those getting traps off. I'll jump to boxes near the gens and push them off, but try to take down the one with no trap. This is a great way to slow down their escape.

I don't know what strategy I'll have to use with Pig's traps until I'm in game. With the new changes, I have no choice of strategy with the traps. I have to use them before they get on the last gen or lose them. That is unfairly limiting my options with that killer.

It's like taking away Trapper's traps when all but one gen is done, or Nurse's blink. Makes no sense.

You came to the forums with a ILLOGICAL post, what did you expect?

Anyways i dont even know why im replying a BAIT poster.

You did not pass philosophy 101 did you? Do you understand the form of an argument, or the concept of debate? The OP made a statement, with supporting evidence. That is a logical argument. @Bug_Reporter and others responded with what equates to a child's retort and want to call it bait.

This is why public forums don't work. The ignorant and misinformed tend to drown out all others. Many philosophers often spoke to this fact.

  • Pig should not have been changed yet. I looked forward to running her and running against her with the EGC. She became more tactical in play with the EGC, then they pimp slapped her down.

    Just not right.

  • When I do play survivor, I rarely run SC anymore . Easier to find an ally or med kit. I run BK without SC if I'm going with a rescue build.

SC nerf a while back made it not worth it. Rather work a gen then spend a minute or so healing. So many killers running Sloppy and NC, just not worth it.

  • If an sec wants to focus heavily on totems for 60 seconds, I'm happy to have them do so. That's 60 seconds they are not hitting gens.

One other thing, killers should be able to tell which hex totem is which. I should be able to prioritize my totems and their defense.

  • @Vortexas said:

This is why I'll never prestige my Hillbilly.

I grinded out every good perk on him, and I refuse after well over 160 blood webs to do it again.

I did the same with my Trapper and Pig. I'll skip prestige on them. No point.

  • It's your fault if you got blinded, or looped all over. Hit boxes favor us, not survivors. I can't tell you how many times I've stopped in amazement at a hit around a corner.

    Just admit it, you'r8a camper.

  • If you knew how to use it, BW was already a strong perk. New end game will make it close to meta.

Problem is, most don't know how to use BW. I've turned matches from a 1k to 4k easily with BW and no NOED. Try slugging someone when running BW. Get another down, and wound the other 2. Then pop one on the hook when they run to the exit to heal and BAM! 4k. Will even be better with new end game. Toy with them for a minute or two, then trigger BW with a minute left.

  • I say wait for the test run. There is a very good chance some of it won't make it through. No use in critiquing before it gets a full test.

  • Um, no. Killers who tunnel a survivor down from the start are the reason for the perk. Seriously, it kills me how few get that this is a casual game that relies on both sides playing solidly in order to maximize the experience. Think about all the changes they have put in.

    1. PIP system changes. It relies on a killer who spreads the damage out. Survivors are not likely to pip if the killer camps or focuses on 1 survivor. Does not matter if you do all 5 gens and open the gate and escape. Zero pip at best. Survivors need a killer who will engage them all and pressure the map in order to pip. Killers need survivors who can last a little bit in a chase, and who will rescue other survivors from hooks. If every survivor drops after 10 seconds of chase and dies on the first hook, the killer is not going to pip.

Both sides need to be solid and of comparable skill in order to maximize the points.

    2. Legion changes. It is clear they intended for Legion to pressure the map and spread out DW, keeping survivors off gens and healing/mending. Original des8failed spectacularly due to a lack of foresight into how good at tunneling Legion is. Lazy killer's dream.

I can go on, but in the interest in brevity, I'll save you from reading a novel here. Tunneling is useful at times. I refuse to use it early in game, but if the game is hitting the ten minute mark and it can swing either way, I might take out that survivor that was seriously hard to catch who just got off his 2nd hook and is running in my direction. With him gone, I might secure this match. At that point, I'm confident all the players have had some fun, and I know I've engaged them all by now because that is my playstyle, I pressure the field and capitalize on mistakes. I run Trapper because he is fun to set the field with.

Tunneling as a full strategy...no thanks. Fish in a barrel is more difficult to kill than using that strategy.

  • Give it a try. To be honest, I disliked running Legion because he seemed like it was cheating. Very low skill threshold and high reward. You had to be a braindead killer to lose most chases, and that is without the moonwalking exploit.

It always seemed that Legion was meant to put pressure on and slow the game down by keeping the survi ors off gens and either healing or running. He turned into a major tunneling killer due to addons, exploits and the ease of which he could win a chase, barring a few troublesome maps.

Now, you get more out of pressuring fresh survivors and finishing off wounded ones. Seems like he is more in line with the original idea. PTB will tell.

  • Yeah, no. Once you learn Plague, she is a competent killer and completely ignores perks like MoM. Adding this would be nuts.

  • Well, combined with the other bug issues, the BP grind has sort of been the straw that broke the camel's back for me. Tired of grinding out BP in glitchy matches just for rng to screw me over every time. Too many new perks, and too many new characters to get perks on. Add in items and killer addons, and it is a slow grind. 1 million BP is like a drop in the bucket.

Something needs to be done soon. I have not played in over a week and honestly have not had the urge to.

  • Trapper likes to herd and anticipate his prey. He is a hunter. I'd like to see a mori where he drives his blade through the thigh of the victim, then, as they are on their knees, he brings his blade down on their head, then twists their neck 180 degrees. As the body falls, the head slides down the blade before Trapper yanks it out and mo es on.

Other survivors can then run by and see the horrified, bloody face of their ally staring up when it should be face down.

A second idea for his mori would be him having a hook mori. He puts the victim on the hook, grabs their legs, and rips them in half.

We need a hook mori. Surprised we have not gotten one yet.

  • Most of these ideas will kill the game faster. Buffs and nerfs need to apply by rank, not across the board. The majority of the survivor player base is in the green and yellow ranks. They get kicked around pretty regularly by killers already and most will not progress because they are casual players.

Last report was a 35% survival rate in matches, and the devs said 2k is the goal per match. The green and yellow bracket is mostly 3-4k already. You nerf survivors hard, like this thread suggests, and you start seeing those red rank killer wait times spread to all ranks.

Nerfs and buffs should be by bracket. So if you make gens 100 seconds, it is for red ranks. Etc, dedicated servers should make these types of changes more viable.

@PiiFree Someone here is close-minded, I guess whatever makes the killer role more immersive for you bro  ¯\(ツ)/¯

    Normal reason's I'd point:

    1. Point at some object I got stuck against right before I get downed to say "F you tree!" (I wish I knew who was the friendly hag that beat up a tree for me after she downed me lol)
    2. Point at some cancer teammate that the killer should get because they've let someone die just to hatch camp and they're waiting for me to get hooked so they can escape having done crap when they couldve had gens done for us or taken a hit to give someone a bit of time in a chase to gain distance from the killer
    3. Point at the killer to say "Calm down buddy/leave me alone/F your swing from some bs distance hitting me/Wassup bro/You found me, you found me I know I can't hide now"
    4. Point at an object to say "Don't mind me, I'm just going to look through this chest/do this generator/mess up your totem" (I never expect a killer to let me do it but I'm one of those dbd players with a sense of humor; and if they hit me I'm prepared for a chase)
    5. Point at a swf I'm teamed with hiding around a corner or in a locker just for lols
    6. Point at an empty locker to see if they open it for lols (Once it wasn't empty which was hysterical and sad)
    7. Point at a hook to tell a friendly farming killer to sacrifice me (or hook my teammate they're carrying at the same time I'm body blocking; which is a taunt)
    8. Point at doctor in treatment mode or plague vomiting or piggy teabagging someone, camping bubba, billy ramming into things, nurse nodding and slugging, etc to say "Stop that you bully."

Personally if I want to taunt a killer, I will teabag or use the "come here" gesture but I'm not intending to be disrespectful, I'm just exploting some killers' weak mental fortitude and how easily offended they get to lure them away from my teammates. I feel like most killers don't get offended by pointing though which is why I don't mind doing it for little imaginary bants.

Not sure if that was you, but I've done that before, then trapped it with a hex.....in case it moved. Also did that to a tire stack that blocked Bubba. I pointed at it and bubba chainsaws it, then me. But, we showed those tires!

  • It is not always toxic. When I play survivor, I will sometimes point from the other side of the barrier to jokingly say "Go away! Go get someone else, I'm just here to fix your generators." It is just meant as fun and not meant to be toxic at all.

When I play killer, it depends on the other actions of the survivor as to whether I take it toxic or not. If they are teabagging and clicking their flashlights then point, toxic.

NOED should be base kit and gen times needs a fix.

NOED however is fine in the totem form.

No. NOED is a crutch when used outside of a devious end game build. I got a lot better when I stopped using it. Base build would encourage a lot of lazy play styles. Get better at mind games and prediction if you rely on NOED.

That said, Remember me, NOED, Blood Warden, and Rancor make for a really fun, and rude surprise at the end of a match where you toyed with the survivors.

Does the other Survivor deserve the hatch more than you deserve the 4k?

If they deserve the hatch, don't slug.

If they don't deserve the hatch, slug.

Deserving is not the issue. That is the problem in this game. Too many are concerned with who deserves what. For all you know, the guy on the ground did nothing all game and the other worked their butt off.

It's a game. Nobody is getting paid. It's about having fun, not being deserving.
