BHVR, If you want to nerf parts of Pig's power, it's time to give her REAL add ons.

First and foremost, I kind of do understand the changes to Pig that are going through at the moment. When the game moves to a 2 minute timer where failure to leave means death, a mechanic which is meant to occupy you for up to 2:30 where failure to remove it ALSO means death becomes a little bit unfair.

THAT SAID, Pig is basically agreed upon as lying somewhere in the low mid tier. She is an M1 killer so she will never be top tier, but her traps stall the game at not real cost to her which puts her above most other M1 killers, as her natural stalling makes her less efficient chasing less impactful. Not even 'nerfing' but completely removing a facet of her power which was considered one of her greatest strengths (trapping survivors in the end game) without any compensation is CERTAINLY going to lower her viability. A hit she did NOT need to take.

So for me, rather than argue that her power should not be completely disabled in the late game, I believe that it's time Pig's add ons got the good hard rework they deserve, in order to boost her strength throughout the whole match, rather than have her rely on a late-game power spike which no longer exists.

I have discussed EXTENSIVELY the sorts of add ons I believe Pig should have (https://nm.reddit.com/r/deadbydaylight/comments/a9o05l/pig_rework_suggestion/) so it would be stupid to just churn that all out again, so let's keep it brief:

Worskhop Grease and Razor Wires are both actively beneficial to survivors above rank 20. Nearly no survivor will fail a BASIC skill check and instead granting extra skill checks on Jigsaw boxes only serve to create more opportunity for great skill checks to search boxes faster. These are PENALTIES not ADD ONS. No other killer has add ons that only create a downside with no benefits.

Shattered Syringe is an add on that ONLY functions when you miss your ambush, which only happens because ambush is SO EASILY countered by common survivor perks like sprint burst. This effect is *alright* on the Video Tape which provides an additional effect, but this (and John's Medical File) should not exist when JMF/VT are essentially the same add on and SS is NOTHING.

Utility Blades give haemorrhage to survivors with RBTs on, and not even when they're healed. This is a joke add on right?

Face Mask and Slow-Release Toxin debuff survivors wearing RBTs. As you guys yourselves have said RBTs are meant to be used through the match to stall the game. 0 time has been gained when you chase/tunnel a survivor wearing an RBT, and this is the ONLY time these add ons actually impact the game, when you're going after a trapped survivor. These are completely counter-intuitive to the Pig's power and you know it. Rusty Attachments gets a pass ONLY because it slows down healing before a survivor can check boxes so technically does add to the stalling of RBTs.

Interlocking Razor affects the punishment of Jigsaw box skill checks. Unfortunately nothing makes the skill checks on the boxes more difficult than a regular skill check, so this add on may as well say "removes one add on slot."

Amanda's Secret trades the ability to tunnel survivors with a trap on for the ability to tunnel survivors who just got their trap off. Has anyone ever used this add on and gone "wow, that was worth the 5000 bloodpoints I had to spend on that because the entity cornered me into it" ever? Probably not.

Rules Set No.2 is fun, and many people have argued should be part of the base kit, but as an add on is not worth 6000 points nor an add on slot most of the time. Since her stalling is disabled in the end game now, it would be an EXCEPTIONAL move to put this into the base kit, as it increases the stalling of RBTs when they are NOT threatening and prevent a lot of the speedier, more depressing quick removals before a trap is active. It would not make traps more lethal, simply better at lasting longer.

Amanda's Letter removes all of your ability to stall the game for tiny wall hacks, which still relies on the awful ambush attack. Thanks, but we just had all our late game traps removed, no need to remove the only good part of her power left.

You know what that adds up to? 11 out of 20 of her add ons are literal garbage. You guys have the stats on this stuff, you know how often it gets used, let alone by people who play Pig regularly. Hell, you can probably look so far as to see how often people fail skill checks on Jigsaw boxes in ranks 1-15 to see how much of a nothing those add ons are.

If Pig were granted add ons that have a MEANINGFUL impact on the game, and give her a LEGITIMATE increase in power in compensation for the loss of her MOST VIABLE TACTIC, it would be much more acceptable. Add ons that affect her crouching or her ambush to make them more viable options past minute 1 of the game would immensely help her become a better killer at most stages of the game without ever coming close to broken.

It's lovely that our feedback has been heard on some of the changes to Pig, but it doesn't remove the fact that she has been significantly nerfed by this patch when she wasn't in a brilliant spot to begin with. Please don't leave a fun and unique killer in a trash-tier position by nerfing her without compensatory buffs. We all know what happens, please don't leave Pig crap for 3 years.

  • She needs buff to her powers, at least the ambush to make her more viable.

  • I agree

While the pig could be strong at end game used right and had some nice plays it is logical that that part of her had to be removed with the EGC or it could guarantee some kills with the RBT, we also have to remember kills with RBT are mean to be a possibility and never a guarantee as they were designed to slow down doing the gens throughout the match by making survivors want to remove the trap.

She does need some love given to her and hopefully once this is over with they will rework some addons and also give her something to help in chases and also slow the game down by possibly making RBT become active upon an unhooking instead of a gen being done.

  • Totally agree. I find the only useful addons are those that increase the number of boxes, increase the time to search boxes and reduce the timer. The others are very "meh" and I find no difference between using them or going addonless.

  • @twistedmonkey I agree that it might make some very late game catches CERTAIN kills as there would not be enough time to remove the trap (even on the first box) and get to a gate, and the hatch may be shut. That said in a case with so little time remaining I honestly doubt any killer won't camp the target in the same situation now. Due to the timing a camp in the late stages of EGC is far more reliable points than camping with the gates open was previously.

  • Can we point out that she has a very rare add-on that hurts her more than it helps her?

  • Heeeey, someone who also finds every add-on you listed as bad. Though two differences:

    1) I used to lump John's Medical File into this, but I was convinced that it was actually not half-bad when used with Video Tape. I still think they could both use tiny buffs to make them both not strictly worse than the same Uncommon add-on (Video Tape).

    2) While I think Rusty Attachments is the best of the RBT penalty add-ons, I still would not give it a pass. I'd rather just use Sloppy Butcher.

But yeah, I think just about every single add-on you mentioned here should be buffed in some way (regardless of these upcoming Pig changes).

  • Agreed on Rusty Attachments, only left it separate since it'd be incorrect to say it doesn't increase the stalling of RBTs or is useless, it's just far less useful than basically any other application of Mangled.

Now lets look at its uncommon counter part

  • Those aren't really the same though. Pig really lacks add on tracks the way other killers have them, like a common/uncommon/rare that slighty/moderately/considerably does the same thing.

Last Will is useful because it adds another trap which causes an extra event to waste time, buying you more time in the match. The Annotated Plan specifically causes survivors to waste more time searching per trap. It doesn't make traps more lethal as they have more time to search, but it means there's more boxes to search, which means more time bought for you when you put a trap on someone. (Assuming luck is on your side)

They both fill slightly different roles, and they can be very effective together. If anything the plan just became more tempting because it's going to be very hard to get 5 traps used before all the gens go off.

@anarchy753 wow I actually read that wrong

This is a very fair point. I do agree that of the four add-ons that penalize people wearing RBTs, Rusty Attachments is the only one that actually synergizes with the RBTs (even if it does a bad job at it).

  • I really dislike adjusting killers' powers according to their addons.

Pig, imo, needs buffs to her base kit.

90% ms in crouched mode is awful. In order to solve this problem, pigs are forced to use whisperer + monitor and abuse to not lose the map pressure.

Her ambush attack is so useless that pig mains go for the uncrouch rather than using her own power. This is one of the most important reasons why combat straps were really powerful and pig mains wanted them as base kit.

Her ambush attack can be used to get the hits around unsafe pallet but to be honest, other 115% ms killers can get those hits too. It doesn't make safe pallets unsafe as far as I know.

As if these are not enough, her power is based on pure luck. People might come and say, well, the luck might be on your side but I have to disagree. Compared to other killers' powers like billy, hag, spirit, huntress, nurse, even if survivors search all 4 boxes, it doesn't put her in top tier.

Imo, they should solve these issues, make her crouch mode more bearable, ambush attack more useful, and RBTs less RNG dependent.

  • I'm okay with the RBT not activating until a gen is done. That's how it is now. With the EGC, it makes it difficult.

They are taking away the terror radius BS, thankfully.

Her Ultra Rare add on needs to give her 2 traps instead of 1.

I mean, yeah, a bad Killer shouldn't be made less bad solely through add-on buffs, but she also just has a LOT of bad add-ons that could stand to be buffed.

  • Still don't get the Pig nerf. Was looking forward to playing against her in end game with the changes. She has now been forced into one strategy with her traps. Use them asap. Boring.
