How can you even tell the difference between clockwise and counter-clockwise spawning?

It doesn't matter ultimately sense going in either should get you to a totem just in a different section.

  • Totems spawn in a counter clockwise fashion around the map.

Along with if I am remembering correctly a distance minimum between them so once you spotted a totem go in a clockwise or counter clockwise fashion around the map and check each fifth of the map to see if its totem has been found and cleansed.

  • You say that like there aren't other survivor perks that make people the obsession nor that there are several killer perks like STBFL or PWYF that are meta.

Even in games where there are no obsessions most still killers don't tunnel when I play so meh.

Also I made a LOT of killers learn that even without DS tunneling a David is a pretty stupid idea given how long they can run you for.

If you bring DS, killers get mad about being hit with it, but if you don't bring DS, then killers will just tunnel the ######### out of you.

I don't use DS and I rarely get tunneled unless my team is doing bad saves.

Remember as long as there is an obsession in the game the killer will treat everyone as if they had DS because of how game warping the perk is.

  • I feel like your missing the point:

The guy originally said that only bad killers get hit by DS and I pointed out how DS can be used to force the stun against even good killers as it can force killers into lose lose situations.

Edit: I also feel like I should have said it can be easily forced instead of abused but the locker example is widely considered abuse of the perk(Even by survivors) sense there is no counterplay to it at all.

  • Just off the top of my head let me see:

Forcing a hook grab(Getting grabbed while unhooking a teammate. Easily able to be done with sprint burst + Borrowed time) so you can not only stun the killer but get both you and the person on the hook away from the killer.

Going into a locker and staying in against anyone but the trapper sense the killer has to eat the DS, leave, or stall anyway you put it its a free escape or prolonged stall.

Working on a gen during the time after healing so the killer has to lunge twice(Letting you rush the gen and get time to get away) or do a gen grab which will get them DSed.

At this point I mainly play survivor but these situations aren't hard to think up of and if your paying attention in games with perks like kindred you'd see these stunts being pulled in about ~ once every 3 games even in the current chapter.

Also keep in mind that a single DS can cost the killer the game at higher ranks so any of these situations can out right win the survivors the game from DS.

  • @DetailedDetriment said:

If a killer picks up DS, they'll just tunnel that survivor anyways.

"Wahh, I tunneled you and got punished. Now I'm gonna focus you."

That or the survivor went into a locker which forces a grab or the killer to leave? Either way the survivor gets away because of DS.

Also you speak as if DS isn't one of the most easily abused perks in the entire game.

Why is it that everyone says the wait cue is long because there arnt a lot of people playing killer? yet when i play killer the cue is longer.

In the afternoon where I live killer ques can take 3-5 mins and survivors around 40 seconds but in the evening its reverse.

As a survivor main whos trying to be less terrible at killer, Ive been avoiding tunneling or camping in order to try and be fair, but is tunneling really all that bad? (In most cases where there was an unhook, I was at least 24 meters away and I think the survivor definitely could've gotten to a pallet.)

Tunneling is fair in the dev's opinion.

However what people consider tunneling is so varied its nearly meaningless.

Ps: Punishing bad unhooks(Like survivor's trying to unhook before you can even leave the hook) isn't camping nor tunneling its just survivor's misplaying.

Tbh i never really understood why killers hate haddonfield

Every time i get sent there I usually 4k

Depending on how it spawns if your playing huntress/Deathlinger there can be infinite loops.

From a personal perspective(On both sides) its just there are a lot of extremely safe generators if you have balanced landing which tends to let you get away with rushing said gens harder(2nd floor gens either right by a window or on a balcony) later into the game with extreme safety.

Also basement generator's sounds can glitch out making hearing to check their progress when you patrol the building impossible.

I think changing the percentage of perks and rewriting up to 10 lines of code isn't as difficult as you think.

He is more referring too the fact that some perks are fundamentally flawed by nature.

They brought up how Cruel limits can be game breaking if buffed at all but using an example from the devs is Monstrous Shrine:

Monstrous Shine in the devs eyes can't be buffed as it would make basement builds too powerful(Basement camping is balanced around how much time it gives the other to rush gens) if it decreases the timer any further while both the escape attempt and failure penalties are so niche that buffing them won't effect its overall power.

So with Monstrous Shrine they have a perk that can't be buffed so they'd need to rework if they'd want to make it better.

Its not pointless because tier lists are not for what killer many people can play that's like saying the tsar bomba wasnt the strongest bomb because we only had 2 ever made just because something is rare or hard doesn't mean they can't be called good like trapper is a good killer but most people can't use his traps right or use very obvious traps but we don't see him in F tier or really high up a tier list is based on potential and results of how the killer performs at high levels not at what frequency or how many players perform

If we are talking about raw power its bubba or oni sense they are the only killers with AoE instant downs and thus are the only ones who can instantly down all 4 survivors.

Most tier lists have to add in how realistically they can be played at whatever tier they are placed sense in hypothetical best case scenarios rarely reflect reality.

  • @Komodo16 said:

Tier lists are supposed to be who is the best not performs the best if that was the case freddy would be the best killer

Normally I'd agree but the nurse is such an extreme example its almost(if not outright) frivolous to mention it sense virtually no one will ever reach that potential(Sub 1% of all nurse players).

Whats the point in ranking her about a potential that can never truly be reached by even most pros?

  • @ActulCasul said:

how tf u 2k with iri head

My guess it would because of the map as some map like Lery's still suck massively for huntress and makes getting her hatches extremely unreliable.

Keep in mind part of Lery's changes in its update was to make huntress/plague not borderline unplayable on that map.

  • I consider the nurse to be easily D tier simply because she is nearly impossible for anyone to use and if we are taking the AVERAGE of each killer into consideration she is by far the worst average performing killer in the entire game.

There is no real point in talking about max power "Ifs" with her when being Olympic gold medalists is more common then finding a nurse who can fully use her.

  • Mine is simply:

Any Exhaustion perk(Other then Head on)

    Spine chill.

    Kindred.

    Fill.

I really don't need much to do well other then spine chill and Kindred but I do prefer to have an exhaustion perk sense I can't expect my teammates to loop the killer for a long time.

I also don't use DS since I usually loop a killer long enough once unhooked that DS doesn't go off unless I am being farmed by my teammates but I will use BT if I have nothing else useful in that slot(I usually get safe saves so it ends up being useless most of the time).

bigger question, why are so many purple rank survivors NOT DOING THE GODDAMN BONES

I think its a design issue of doing totems not having an effect by itself on the match is why most survivor ignore them.

Heck I'd think we would still be seeing complaints about NOED from purples+ even if doing totems gave We're Gonna Live Forever stacks simply because doing totems isn't intuitively advantageous by design.

  • Survivors. Why is simply: Some killers like bubba need perks to do much of anything(Needs perks to camp/Pain train properly).

Meanwhile no survivor needs perks to function unlike killers.

i completely understand the frustration with DS in relation to lockers since it can be a nuisance to see someone jump in a locker mid-chase & have to decide whether they’re attempting a DS or head on... but in terms of a DS unsafe unhook wouldn’t it be much less problematic to lunge rather than grab? a free slug and you nullify DS

im curious as to how you feel about the idea of ignoring who was unhooked for the full 60 seconds? don’t waste a chase unless it’s a quick down via nurses calling? nullify what in 2020 dbd feels like an anti-tunnel perk & make more progress on different survivors? (also pyramid head seems like an efficient counter)

Here's the thing: A grab overrides lunges as they are command priority so there are times where they are so close and having to wait out BT's 15 seconds you'd be forced into a grab by either reaching the other hook in 15 seconds(If they have Sprint burst its actually rather easy for them to do) and thus having enduring making the lunge do nothing or you being close enough where a grab is forced by the game itself).

I do usually ignore the person who is unhooked if they run away but if they just try to body block for 15 seconds they are getting slapped down after those 15 seconds are up.

TLDR: These perks comboing can be why the situation you mention doesn't work.

  • @azame said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1387853#Comment_1387853

No ds punishes a killer for hooking a survivor within that 60 second period you can always slug. Don't mention unbreakable because its still free pressure and its gone after that.

Here's a better question: Why are you or your teammates being downed within 60 seconds?

is it that the killer is camping and/or tunneling....Or is it you or your team misplayed the save and put you/them into a situation where the unhooked survivor can't get away and the savior didn't bother to take a protection hit?

In games where I end up getting a lot of saves DS never goes off not because the killer slugged but I didn't do any bad save that would require DS being used.

  • To find out why DS is an issue look at game footage of survivors jumping into lockers with DS up and see that the killer can do NOTHING in that situation:

If the killer opens the locker they get hit by DS.

If they leave the locker then they lose out on what should be a slug(Not hook but just a slug).

Another issue with DS is that survivors can DS when they get grabbed while trying to unhook. Which means a free double unhook without the 2nd Savoir being put into danger despite not respecting the killer at all.

I personally don't have an issue with unbreakable but most people hate it for comboing with DS making it so even if you do slug the survivor still gets away from a bad play.

BT IMO just makes survivors stupid as it makes them not respect the killer's distance from the hook and makes it so survivors can get away with really stupid unhooks. BT is a good anti camp perk but it also lets them do stupid plays against non campers.

TLDR: Effectively the issue is with these is that they punish the killers for good plays while rewarding survivors for making bad plays.

Despite there being no DS in my matches (sometimes I've been running it but I'm also doing challenges so DS tends to be my "replaced perk"), the amount of tunneling without an obsession has actually gone down for me.

Why? Because people aren't unhooking in the killer's terror radius anymore. So I don't get clapped and then picked up within 15 seconds. People are also like, y'know, running away after being unhooked to either gtfo or to go heal (or both), instead of "I'MMA GO IMMEDIATELY BACK ON A GEN HYUK" and then complain that they were being tunneled.

There was only one match where I saw someone get tunneled to death and ironically that was because this Dwight kept unhooking this poor Jane ten feet from a trapper. Without BT. Is that really the killer's fault or the Dwight for being an ass?

It's almost like when you don't get unhooked ten feet from the killer and/or retreat from the hook, you don't get tunneled the large vast majority of the time. Amazing.

Yep and this is something I have said before and I will say it again:

DS/BT makes survivors play worse because they know they don't have to play smart to win.

There are so many potatoes at high ranks not only because ranking up as a survivor is easy but also the fact that the 2nd chance perks are strong enough to carry them that high.

  • I feel like its more what kind of look your going for:

I find the crown/halo to look good on the plague(a priestess) or jeff(Who values healing and saving others from his perks) for thematic reasons.

Another look I try is the center of attention look for my looping survivors like david(My main) or meg whom I have set up to be chased and want to be seen more easily.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I've seen 3 times survivors have reported killers for "being toxic" by not letting them escape with the crown.

Trust me when I say so is the survivor side right now(People are insulting me for getting 4 BBQ stacks then letting them leave so they can get their halos).

  • @NoShinyPony said:

Do you guys remember the Halloween event 2018?

Survivors were collecting the "nectar" at the beginning of the match, then run to the killer, get themselves hooked and killed themselves to go to the next match as fast as possible, and repeat the same thing all over again.

We didn't have normal matches. It was horrible. If survivors now kept their crown no matter the outcome of the match, we would be dealing with the same nonsense as in 2018.

Another way of doing it to avoid this is:

You earn a full halo if you escape with the crown but you only earn 1/6th-1/9th(Or 1/12th if its abused) of a halo per death while crowned.

So them trying to win would result in them getting their crown at a MUCH faster rate then letting themselves die.

ive gotten bm'ed two times today for letting people escape or try to show them where the crowns are

Yep same here and they tried to argue I was perventing them from doing so when i stopped attacking the moment i got 4BBQ stacks and make a circle of hag traps to stand in for nearly the rest of the game as they did gens(I'd post the after game chat but what offensive things they said to me aren't allowed to be shown on the forums and yes I reported them for it).

When the gens were fully powered I just went to opened the exit gate in front of them and went back to my circle.

Highly doubt Ruin would've affected them. They were monsters.

Old ruin would have slowed down great skill checks which are a deceptively strong effect.

Before the nerfs, 2 survivors getting 10 skill checks split up anyway between them could finish a gen in ~28.5 seconds which was the same time(Technically it was about ~.014 seconds faster) then if all 4 survivors were working on one gen.

  • I feel one of the issues that killer very rares(Purples) and ultra rares(Pinks/Reds) is that they seem to afraid to add in anything that could be on the same power as iri heads.

I get this opinion from how they said they actively try to avoid DS levels of powers for perks seems to have also bled into addons as well.

And survivors have no obligation to give you free kills.

In the example the OP used they were dead either way so it wasn't free...

Anyways OP a lot of the times there is no point in struggling when your downed as the last survivor as your often so close to a hook when downed that there is no realistic way of wiggling out without wiggle perks so not wiggling is literally the statistically better choice to try to escape in that situation.

  • I have noticed this a lot with alt melee attacks like demo's shred where I can physically land on the survivor midway through the leap but SLIDE OFF OF THE SURVIVOR INTO THE WALL!

I think you overestimate the safety of Midwich Pallets A LOT. They are not Hawkins-Level, more like Badham. Which makes them perfect playable as Killer.

and I think that was the point is its a clear attempt to make a "Fair" double pallet instead of making it auto win for the survivor.

I consider these 2 pallets like haunted grounds: Once one is gone the effect of the other goes away as well.

Also looking back at it I think i misconstrued the power of the tower as I meant it to be strong but not a god pallet spawn. I meant in the original that its one of the few usable guaranteed spawns on the map unlike everything else which has wide variance.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1365461#Comment_1365461

They are a Deathtrap. The Survivor will not get away without taking a Hit if one of those gets broken. Of course, if the Killer is bad, they will suffer on those Pallets, but if you consider the Killer being bad, then the Map is full of strong Pallets, this is correct...

If throwing the force spawned 2 pallets let the survivor get away then it has served its purpose of stalling the killer and much like any other loop with a broken pallet it isn't wise to reuse.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1365442#Comment_1365442

You consider the Pallets at the Clock Tower strong? The Clock Tower is a Deathtrap.

eh the clock tower double pallets can waste a lot of time if the killer misplays them but against any good killer they are a mildly strong ones.

Balanced landing into running to the clock tower's double will force the killer to break one and try to out mind game the other or just break both(Usually the former sense its so small its hard to mind game).

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Did you get access to a different version of Midwich?

Because there are not "TONS" of god pallets, it is more like 2-3 God Pallets. The Map is bad for both sides.

    This is RNG dependent. I was counting powerful pallets on the map on both sides and not counting the guaranteed strongish clock tower ones;

I have counted between 0-4 randomly spawning god pallets(You just have to take them there is no way around them) and around 2-8 strong safe pallets(more dependent on how the rest of the room spawns rather then the pallet itself sense other pieces I have noticed can spawn attacked to the pallet).

It can be either:Both 4 god pallets and 8 strong safe pallets can on the map

    or

0 god pallets spawn and only 2 strong pallet spawns on the map.

So the map either spawn with no good pallets or LOTS of them with a large if not the largest variance in how many/how strong they spawn.

  • I can confirm that this can happen on any killer as it happened to be as both legion/demo and I have seen it happen to plagues/Deathslingers I played against.

  • @Huff said:

  • They are retired offering as they were completely useless.

To give you an idea of how map offerings work is that they add lots into the random map choice selections.

Browns adds: 2 lots(3 times as likely for the map but doesn't guarantee)

Yellow adds: 5 lots(6 times as likely for the map but doesn't guarantee)

Green adds: 99999 lots.(Might as well guarantee)

Effectively Brown and yellow map offerings were useless so they were removed.

  • For the general graphics they have already shown teasers of making it better and more like the original graphics.

How much of that will make the final cut is yet to be seen.

  • Also for several perks (Mainly most killer slow down perks) the devs would have to buff massively if they were mutually exclusive sense the current balance with them is based around being able to stack them.

Its why thanatophobia and Dying Light are relatively low impact is due to their ability to stack.

The rest though, I agree with.

In the wraith's lore RIPPED SOMEONE'S HEAD OFF WITH HIS BEAR HANDS!

Remember the skull on his weapon he got from justly killing a mobster unarmed whose murders called the entity to take and corrupt the wraith(Remember the wraith was a tricked innocent that avenged the murdered).

As for @Dr_Loomis for legion if it wasn't for the entity's intervention all 4 of them(The entity separates them but without it all 4 would fight together) would gang up on David and easily overwhelm him.

For as weak as they are individually all four of them would be able to pin any survivor down long enough for the survivor to be knocked out.

Well, if DC was getting out of control, maybe the devs should have tried to address why the game had gotten so bad every match people would rather take zero points and waste their time than stay and play. They are punishing the wrong people.

Without the DC penalty people would just quit out of games vs killers they didn't like/ didn't want to learn.

You can see the ramification of the old punishment-less DC system as very few people know how to play against legion as if you played him like I did(I get a lot of legion dailies for some reason) at the time there was a near guarantee of one or DCers ever game even before the first hook.

TLDR: Survivor's abused the old system to not play against killers they don't like even if said killer is under powered(Which legion was at the time).
