  • Pyramid Head has brilliant, chilling chase music! A good second place goes to The Oni though, as the strong percussion does get the blood pumping.

  • Out of all I could choose from, The Oni is probably my facourite for tension, followed by The Hag for her jump scares, and Myers for being a sneaky little bugger!

However, I always enjoy a good Demogorgan more. That creature is unique and, in the right hands, terrifying.

  • Michael Myers. I like my peace and quiet, and at least his weapon is something I could use whilst prepping dinner.

Yes,run past. I don't think I've ever attempted to fight one in all the times I've played the game. Bought the original on launch day and then me and my buddy got stuck on a puzzle at the very very end because we were over thinking it. For at least a month. Plus no internet. Or maybe didn't think to even look on the internet because it wasn't as widely used. Sorry I got a bit off topic. Was a good memory for me. Don't think I'll ever forget it. Game was pretty incredible at the time. Still holds up pretty well now compared to others.

It definitely was! I remember the first time the school changed after walking through the clock tower. Knowing nothing about the game, I thought I was going to come up during World War 2. When the new decor was on display at the other end, I genuinely got the feeling that there was something "wrong" with the game. Like a creepypasta tale made real! I'll never forget that moment, and how it helped my love for this series.

  • This is a beautiful thread! & a beautiful attitude too. Complete props!

  • Like The Hag's traps, Pyramid Head's trenches or torment can be crouched or avoided. They're quite obvious. However that's not the whole point:

If Pyramid Head starts a chase, he can set up his trenches in advance and chase survivors to them. There would be little point in crouching then, clearly!

It's how the power is used. In this case, the power is a bit like The Trapper's, in that you use map control to lure them into the trenches, or to cut off exits. Used that way, his power is very effective, especially combined with his mid range attack, or the scare he can get with his stealth perk to slam a survivor into one.

  • She'd probably refuse, unless the persuasion was good. However, failing that, The Entity would just take him regardless. If The Entity could snap Krueger from a dream world, Jason would be relatively simple.

  • The lore also speaks of an unspoken agreement, so perhaps unlike a lot of the other Killers, Pyramid Head was granted additional "payment" in exchange for agreeing to be a Killer for The Entity. As Mikeadatrix said, this is in someways a business relationship, as opposed to a forced labour.

  • • Are they a gen, became damn I wanna tap that!

    • Are you Evan? Because I wanna Mac in your Millan.

    • Are you The Oni one for me?

  • Are you Quentin? Because I wanna ... OH GOD NO, WHAT IN SMEGGING HELL ARE YOU? MY EYES BURN!!!

  • Best thing to do is either play the games or watch walkthroughs of the first 3 games. The movie has some amazing atmosphere, but is also jumbled, and some of the script is jarring. Most of all though is that the Chapter is focused on the games, and the movie takes its own path and liberties with its characters.

  • Best to run past them, if possible? If there is just one, get yer pipe out and measure a heavy hit each time until it falls.

If there's two or more, and there is no way round, choose the one most alone, blast it down, stomp and run. It's not that there's a low supply of ammo, but when one grabs you, the others are unrelenting!

  • There are a few I'd like to see if possible in future. Humanoid ones include:

Nemesis (The Pursuer) - Resident Evil 3

Chris Walker (The Soldier) - Outlast

Walter Sullivan (The Abandoned) - Silent Hill 4

Big Daddy (The Protector) - Bioshock

Tattooed Priestess (The Tormented - Fatal Frame 3

George Woodman (The Raincoat Killer) - Deadly Premonition

And, on top of those (and for a bit of fun) if there was a time BHVR said sod it to humanoid killers, I'd love it if they had either Obscura from The Evil Within 2, and that Combine Harvester from Alan Wake (that terrified me first time!)

  • I'd prefer not, as I much would rather earn my kill, although if a survivor chose to sacrifice themselves I would oblige them for their nice gesture.

Recently, I faced a Ghostface which struggled horrendously. The gens whipped by, and he was having a real time of it even getting a hit. The gens hit 5, and I got to open the door. Then I decided to try to find him to sacrifice myself. Couldn't even find him! I thought he gave up. So, I went up on one of the hills on the map and just stayed there until the EGC ran out. At the end, he was rank 20, and I was the lowest ranked survivor at 11, with 2 purples and a red there.

  • For survivor: I actually like DejaVu as an underrated perk. When it changed from 3 nearest gens to 3 closest together, it really gives my some map control, break up close gens and maximise my escape at the end.

For Killer: Hex: Thrill of the Hunt. It may be just me how I perceive it, but it can be used both as a defence for perks such as NOED and such, but also it can be used as a tool for paranoia, as survivors may think there is something hidden beyond that, and waste more time searching for totems, thus extending the game.

  • Dark Sense is a decent perk, because as a survivor, you get that opportunity to do a sweep round to seek the killer's aura.

As Killer, Bitter Murmur is hit and miss, because - in my experience - it invariably happens when I'm in a chase, soby the time I turn to look it's too late. However, when I do get the chance, and I see 2 or more running a certain direction, it's almost the equivilant of a bunch of free hits.

Every single time I bug out I get penalised, I've opened numerous tickets to report bugs & I've posted on the bug forums with my issues. Also in no way am I in agreement with DC's, however when it's an in game problem and not the players fault & they're penalised.. then it becomes an issue. Low key want a refund at this rate because it's ridiculous.

Did they reply to any of your tickets? I'm guessing whatever explanations they've given you (if any) weren't satisfactory.

I always thought the trapper should put a person on their knees and bring an open trap down on their head setting it off so it closes around their face 😈

Agreed, and with The Wraith, I imagined him kneeling with his entire body weight, whilst twisting the head of the survivor off, as a symbolic reference to how he finished his boss.

  • If the game has (on a rare occassion) bugged out, or the 500 Error appears, I've never been penalised for it, so there are some thinhs they've already factored in.

I'd say the game was more unplayable before because of players dcing left, right and centre, making it an unpleasant experience, so I'm supporting the devs here.

  • Gore for gore's sake just feels cheap to me. Movies like Hostel and such basically come across to me as boring. However, if there is a legitimate reason to have it, and not completely over the top, it can be very effective! However, as someone else said before, too much gore and it just becomes meh. So, the environments I'm not fussed about.

And yet I do agree with the Moris being ramped up a peg or two. It doesn't have to be mad, but there are a few killers that could do with a rework. The Trapper should utilise a trap in his; The Wraith could be ripping the head off the survivor, as he did with Azarov; and why The Demogorgon sucks a head to death is beyond me!

  • Spring-heeled Jack was a killer who apparently, according to those who claimed they saw him, would jump great distances to avoid capture. Having a character like that could cause some jump scares. I think there's another character available in another game based on that, though.

The biggest thing to consider as well is that The Sun Goddess may not even actually exist.

See in the Silent Hill theorycrafting community the big debate is "does the town itself have the power to manifest ones darkest most evil secrets?" or was "everything happening because of the cult?"

I'm convinced the cult has no power. That the towns strange abilities manifested Dahlia's and Alessa's visions of what God was and mostly Alessa's perception of the cult was to blame for the events in SH1.

Which to me seems like Pyramid Head is just a manifestation of the town itself. Possibly making him one of the strongest killers lore wise.

That is true, and The Sun Goddess may not exist! The land was apparently a magical place when the Native Americans found it, but when the Europeans started colonising things changed.

The blood spilt, and the ways in which the land was wrenched from the Native Americans, tainted this "magic" and manifested a reflective darkness.

Whether this was because it was a holy ground controlled by The Sun Goddess; a pathway to another dimension; an unusual, natural phenomenon; or even aliens, this corruption turned the area into a dark, reflective water. It's very possible the town is not evil at all, and merely reacts to others passively.

It's nice until you get no mither, self care, inner strength, and for the people

Or any mix with Slippery Meat, which is basically a blocked perk slot, unless the rare instant it coincides with Evan!

It is super interesting. I think the one thing that separates PH from the others is the fact that he is a created being with no free will of his own. So perhaps the forces of Silent Hill are "loaning" PH until he is needed again.

That's an interesting idea that the bargain may not have been struck between The Entity and Pyramid Head, but perhaps The Entity and The Sun Goddess. However, maybe it was done through Pyramid Head, and The Entity may have thought he was talking to one, but instead it was The Sun Goddess speaking through Pyramid Head.

I did wonder about any bargains it had with The Mind Flayer, but I get the impression there were so many Demogorgons, it probably didn't even care about losing one.

  • I play both Killer and Survivor equally. Not only that, but I rank up in the bloodweb only if I achieve certain things. So, currently I am a rank 11 Killer with 2 perk slots.

The matchmaking does seem to pair me up with higher ranks, but I've had decent success. My last round was a 2K against red rank SWF (decent guys, actually!) As The Wraith (no add-ons, Perks Bloodhound and Deerstalker) it was tough, but so rewarding! It's those moments that make me continue to play Killer.

  • GG, hope you're EZ!

  • "Y'all" isn't that bad, although I never use it. Certainly nowhere near as irritating as using the word "super" to describe absolutely everything!

  • I watched the latter part, and yeah the chat was just full of entitled morons, so I switched off.

BHVR have made it to 4 years, and deserved to have a recap, considering it's a 4 year anniversary. And I don't recall so many "skip" comments in other sections, compared to mobile, but overall the general consensus was a load of @#$$£@//$ were watching it, which this community could easily do without.

  • I just use the DBD Randomizer app. It makes games more challenging and also creates unique playstyle and confusion in my opponents. Underused perks - such as Deja Vu - have caused Killers more problems than I have counted, and I also feel it encourages more inventive play and better skill.

  • @Every1poops said:

Was Pyramid Head the only Killer the the Entity had to bargain with?

I believe so. The closest I could get to finding something similar was Rin, and in her case an "oath" was made, not a bargain. Considering Rin was shortly to die, there was little choice for her. This is what makes Pyramid Head unique, because even those who like it or don't mind it with The Entity were never given a choice (The Clown, The Ghost Face, The Shape). Even the demon Freddy Krueger was taken.

  • It'll hopefully change the gene pool a bit when it comes to choosing perks. It does get horrendously boring facing the same ones. Plus, varying perks catches people out, since sme appear so very often.

  • I'm uncertain about more non-teachable survivor perks. The Killers have even less, and the non-teachables have a decent variety from the practically useless Slippery Meat all the way to the all-seeing Kindred and the power-heal of We'll Make It.

  • Easily the Blendettes. At least Nea and Feng will end your suffering sooner, even if they do wait until the final moments of the EGC to leave.

  • Pyramid Head has absolutely insame durability, and its only weakness was caused by James facing his demons and accepting what he did. Even then, the Pyramid Heads sacrificed themselves in some sort of strange acknowledgement - perhaps even instructed, since their purpose was no longer required, since James came to terms with it.

So basically The Executioner is - in a way - almost immortal.

In terms of a human only battle, it's between Huntress, Oni and Doc. I'm actually uncertain, but I'd go with Huntress as well.

  • He did that in the games too. Pyramid Head was designed around the idea of pain (hence that warped helmet), and the Great Knife is so heavy, it's carried like that to emphasise it's weight and strain.

James can actually wield the Great Knife in Silent Hill 2, at the cost of an incredibly slowed rate of swing and movement.

I think you might have missed the point in the comments you've referred to. I don't think any if them condone that sort of behaviour. What they did is give OP information about what triggers it, so he himself can understand how to avoid it. Trolls will be trolls and you can't change that, but as we know based on experience, your own behaviour acts as a trigger to them. If you don't mind dealing with the insults, then play however you like and just report them. Otherwise, just be wholesome yourself and you'll find that the attempted abuse on the other end will subside significantly. I almost never get salt from survivors or someone disrespecting me in-game and I refuse to believe that it's because i'm just lucky and get matched with wholesome survivors consistently, because of my region, platform and so on.

Fair point, well made. I probably got minorly triggered as it could perhaps be seen as a justification for what those guys did, rather than just examining the possibilities. My apologies.

  • Dying in a dream doesn't change you that much at all. If the idea that dreams represent your subconscious thoughts in weird, abstract ideas, then at most it may be trying to show a part of your character or something that you've experienced isn't needed anymore.

Other than that, feel free to die in your dreams as many times as you like ... if that's - y'know - your thing.

  • Well, you know, if they're failing with their lives outside of the game, they have to celebrate where they can! :D

Really, unless the Killer has been toxic all match, there is no real reason why. But a teabag is basically just someone tapping a button - means nothing to me.

  • DCs aren't justifiable [sic], but I definitely sympathise with your experience. That's blaitant abuse of the Killer and Survivors working together, which if it is towards bullying another, completely unacceptable. Best thing to do is just walk away from the game and do something else until your character dies, after setting up a recording for the report.

Just remember: this is a very small and insignificant minority who play like little children in this toxic manner. Most are pretty decent. Hopefully, this hasn't put you off entirely. With luck, although you didn't record them, another survivor did.

  • It is a great chapter, thank you devs!

There's so much in this, and not just the obvious: The map is a brand new setup with the internal courtyard and several Easter Eggs throughout. The survivor is the first to be able to partially bend The Entity to their will. The Killer has introduced a new status and a different style of stealth and map play. The Legendary outfits open up more variety. Even smaller tweaks, like the Clown, will make some fun changes. Finally, we have potentially a new A or S tier Killer.

Basically, this chapter is just astounding!

  • OP is right, and that goes for both sides. Ultimately, people won't become more skilled until they face these tougher setups and accept they are never going to win everytime, depending on what they class as winning in their head (it goes beyond just escaping or 4k).

  • Anything that takes me away from it. Reading; Podcast; gardening,.. all of those things help.

  • Regardless what the OP playstyle is, no playstyle should have a response where the opponents start wishing them or their family dead. There is no excuse, and putting this absurd behaviour on OP's way of playing - as a couple of people have - is completely illogical. If you're peeved at the way someone plays, just move on and learn from it.

Any comments which are rascist, threatening or otherwise should always be reported. This is a fun game, and really people need to be encouraging others post-game, than detracting.

  • Definitely Ripley!

On a sillier side, Lt. Frank Drebin from the Naked Gun movies would be an interesting addition, especially with his quick one-liners.

Dwight: "Oh God, it's a Mori!"; Frank: "He's got a funny idea about love"

Like a barrage of dad jokes!

  • Jessie Walsh from Nightmare on Elm Street 2 could be a possible legendary for Quentin.

  • @Alice_pbg said:

I would ask why not the guy from silent hill 2 since piramid head is his monster.

    But honestly... I don't really care.🤷‍♂️

Only watched lore videos of silent hill and didn't play them myself.

I think it's been done like this to celebrate the first three games of the SH franchise: The map is from the first gamr; Pyramid Head from the 2nd; & Cheryl/Heather from the third.

Would have been great if James came, but maybe he could be a legendary skin for someone? Cheryl is certainly very welcome, nevertheless.

  • Personally, DbD has brought in a Killer which could diversify the Top Tier Killers. Spirit and Nurse were getting lonely at the top, and both were counterable. Pyramid Head has a lot of power, but it is avoidable. The floor shows the line of his range attack before he shoots; the trenches you can crouch-walk over, as with dealing with The Hag. His hook ability moves the survivor a fair way away from him, which prevents camping. He's pretty counterable, but also a lot of fun to play against, and he will be a heck of a challenge.

Most importantly, he should bring back the horror or terror element that this game wants to bring back.
