I think it would end up being too annoying if it wasn't a Hex. Cleansing the Totem only gives them temporary respite anyway, it'll go back up eventually.
I think a better buff would be to increase the blind time ever so slightly.
ever so slightly
that won't help, try like double increase and it won't be completely useless, but it will never be good.

@VomitMommy I love everything about the Iron Maiden skin, but the gun is counterproductive. I actually have to work against my muscle memory and aim higher than normal. I genuinely hope they take this thread and make some QOL changes. Afterall it'll only help them as more people would buy the cosmetics.
Yeah, I have noticed the iron sight seems to be little higher than usual, I usually go for quick shots, so don't use iron sight that much anyway.
but it screwed me few times when I was trying to aim through some holes.
Skin still looks amazing tho :D

No offense, but hacking mid-chase, especially for newcomers, isn't really an option. Most people will take 3-5 seconds to hack a drone and in the context of a chase, being immobile in a loop is simply not a viable option.
But yeah, there should simply be a point to deactivating drones.

not saying it's easy, but at least on PC I can do it reliably under 2 seconds, which is not impossible at all on safer loops and reward would be big.

So Clown's active chase power is slightly stronger but that's his entire kit.
Standing still during chase is not a viable option. You're just countering giving her a 3% haste by giving yourself 100% hindered.
You just leave out stealth, the still insane area denial that can't be countered, and the flood of status effects that she piles on, all with zero effort on her part.
It's been months since her rework. If she wasn't that bad anymore, people would have gotten over it by now. The rework was a failure and players will keep going next until it's addressed.
So Clown's active chase power is slightly stronger but that's his entire kit.
We have different definitions of slightly...
Standing still during chase is not a viable option.
How so? What will she do when you standing next to dropped pallet?
The rework was a failure and players will keep going next until it's addressed.
I will gladly take old merchant back, wouldn't be an issue with 3-gen feature imo.
It's been months since her rework. If she wasn't that bad anymore, people would have gotten over it by now.
Not really, core issue is her chase is boring for survivors. That doesn't mean it's too strong.
the still insane area denial that can't be countered
How so? Her drones are harmless outside of chase, if you are not blind.

While SM isn't the only one with powerful anti-loop, the others can be baited and there's some hope of the Killer miscalculating placement or timing (or in Knight's case, without Map of the Realm a Survivor can actually outrun his guards zone if they start to run away soon enough, it's the whole reason everyone wants it basekit).
I honestly wouldn't mind her being a "Jack of all Trades, Master of none" Killer if hacking the drone had an impact and, even in SoloQ, was useful. Something as simple as preventing SM from recalling them (and subsequently replacing them mid-chase without slowing down) for most of the duration after they are hacked. At the cost of being longer (add like 3-4 imputs in the QTE) to turn the counterplay into a strategy as when to hack them would be important.
Or even simply being able to remove a scan stack by hacking a drone.
This would encourage interaction with the drones (arguably providing minimal slowdown due to hacking being more common and longer) and making SM need to think more about drone usage since it would be better to keep drones for strong tiles rather than constantly recalling and spamming them at every loops.
She would always be a SoloQ/newcomer stomper (like every Killers with gimmicks) but at least Survivors could work around her power (at the cost of time and some risk due to being immobile) and like other trap Killers would be a Killer that is dealt with better out of chase than in chase.
if hacking the drone had an impact
I have suggested two changes.
- Remove broken -> always mending like Legion
- Hacking drones make aura red for 10-15 seconds and drone can't be recalled during that time
I think that makes it easier for new players, who have issues staying injured and hacking drone becomes viable mid chase, because she won't be able to deploy drone again. Hacking drone will deny power with cost of information, which seems fair trade to me.
r even simply being able to remove a scan stack by hacking a drone.
That's terrible idea, it would be pointless to ever drop chase on people with lock on and Skully would be punished for trying to setup her drones in advance, which doesn't make sense.

So let's take clowns power but when you throw a bottle it has about 4 times the aoe, stays permanently until removed by a mini game (automatically reactivates itself shorty after), grants undetectable every time he throws one, gives global tracking on anyone that enters, causes a myriad of other assorted status effects, oh and injures without him actually hitting you.
Yea I can totally see the comparison.
You can deny clown's bottle by standing still, or crouching? That's new to me...
So your argument is it's easy to apply -> which you are wrong anyway and not it's too strong? because it's clearly not that good on % compare to him.
Clown's slowdown is definetly way easier to apply than skull merchant's. Her hindered is fully in hands of survivor how fast or if you can do it. It's easy and fast for Clown...
Her drones are not AOE anymore btw...
This was comparison for people crying about her anti loop, which is simply not that strong in my opinion.

I never said that everything in the video was pure and unadulterated truth, of course there's some bias.
However the "broad strokes" are pretty accurate about why people still hate her;
Outside of "Hold W" (an effective counter to all M1 Killers) and "hope your teammates don't get scanned while you're getting chased", there's very little meaningful (or unique) counterplay to her. Hacking the drones do nothing since she can recall them and re-place them in a second if a Survivor happens to be chased in a loop containing a deactivated drone and she can do so without slowing down.
Skull Merchant is arguably one of the least difficult Killer to get results with, with one button press a loop, no matter it's strength, is a death trap that even good players can't escape outside of simply leaving and hoping there's a connected tile. She can also do so ahead of time when coming across god-pallets and strong tiles to further reduce the amount of button presses needed during the chase.
Now you can say that as far as "nearly inevitable loss" then a good Blight and/or Nurse can also apply, but that's the thing: Nurse and Blight take practice to use efficiently. There's also the fact that SoloQ (the majority of the playerbase) can't relay drone locations and status to help reduce people getting scanned when turning a corner.
There's also the fact that she can also gains stealth on-demand for some reason and, unlike other stealth Killers who have some kind of audio cue or some kind of drawback (loud breathing and nothing special outside of Tier 3 for Myers, Wraith growling as well as not being able to attack until de-cloaked etc.) she has barely audible footsteps. She has so much in her arsenal for so little effort (not counting her add-ons which can add more status effects or make the base ones better) that it's overwhelming and hard to keep track of her status (especially for inexperienced/casual players and SoloQ).
...And also the fact that her first design gave PTSD to countless players and is almost single-handedly responsible (alongside Knight and Singularity) for the current ill-thought-out "Anti-3-gen system" that's creating all kinds of issues for weaker/M1 Killer while not bothering the powerhouses.
nearly inevitable loss
Artist, Dredge, Knight can all create setup where there is nothing survivor can do other than die.
Skull merchant is still an M1 killer with very limited anti-loop, she is not able to create inevitable loss situation on many pallets, she can get injury if survivors don't play correctly / don't have enough resources, but there is killer who can do it even more easily -> Legion.
She has so much in her arsenal for so little effort
She has quite a lot of things in her kit, but there is nothing she is best at currently. She used to be best defensive killer in dbd, for totem at least and tied with some on gens. I will gladly get that back over better stealth.
Her chase is worse than used to be, only thing better than before is stealth, everything else is worse, feel free to convince me otherwise.
.And also the fact that her first design gave PTSD to countless players and is almost single-handedly responsible
Yeah, I agree. Thing is you can't fix it anymore, so why bother?

I'll just leave this here, this guy goes into detail of why people still hate her.
It's long time since I have say this guy is incorrect many times and using only information that fits his narrative...
It's easy to see why she is not fun for survivors, skull merchant has currently two options in chase, hold W when healthy and predrop pallets when injured, which is not really an interactive chase for survivors.

Well. I wont go tit for tat over skull merchant on a forum. Ppl already do that here with multiple posts because of her. Ive done enough of that. Its already has been addressed by the devs, and whether you like it or not, she definitely will have a few adjustments in the future like sadako has already. Its not on the current schedule, but in due time she will be dealt with again.
Well, let's hope they will be reasonable and not balance based on survivors who can't even crouch...

I mean, clown doesnt injure you with 3 bottle hits. Make you broken and be in deep wound base kit. And not only that, you cant get rid of the drone ticks unless ur hooked or just take the injury. Yea. Thats too oppressive. And we havent even touched on her add ons giving more status effects.
How does broken help in chase exactly? You said in chase, only speed and slowdown matters from her current kit. You could say information to some extent, but I don't really see that oppresive...
If she has old pallet breaking, that would be oppresive, but that's gone...

But it is extreme. When you have the majority of the community still having issues with a killer, it's a problem. When you have a killer that causes the community to outright say her name in the comments during a discord stream over sadako rework; which was said when the dev in the stream say we rework killers that causes a high rate dc and is not enjoyable. They even acknowledged those people's comments when everyone said her name. So once again, I believe they have to go back to the drawing board for a 2nd time with her just like sadako. Doesn't even have to be another rework. She's too oppressive when it comes to status effects during chase.
She's too oppressive when it comes to status effects during chase.
So 3% haste and 10% hindered (delayed based on survivor's choices) is too oppresive in chase? You know that just purple bottle from clown is better than this? 15% + yellow bottle if needed...
Tell me how she is too oppressive?

I wished they made this approach for Sadako, instead of the reworks.
I don‘t play both of them, because of those things. It‘s just too hard for what you get.
Yeah, I am still salty about my Deathslinger who got a parkinson...
Freddy is another case, poor guy, it's funny he is considered to be the worst killer (or one of) and his kill rate is between highest :D
-
Again issue that just doesn't feel to be unique for her in my opinion.
So she just camped you, that's it. She is definetly not best killer for camping.
There are things I would take as valid argument that might lead to changes and even know changes that could help to everyone, but her camping is really not one of them.
It may be difficult, but it is possible to save against Skull merchant, because she is still M1 killer.
This is combination of killer, playstyle and map. So you can as well say this is map offering issue.

I play a lot of different killers including Plague, just what I feel like at the moment. My current roster is like:
Wraith, Hag, Pig, Legion, Plague, Oni, Deathslinger, Nemesis, Arist, Knight, Skull merchant
Jeff only as a survivor.
Others are usually just for daily / challenges :D

Well, I am not sure players want to see 5-10 minutes queue times again. Wasn't really fun time, at least for me.

Ays12151 - I hope you enjoy this post, I put a lot of time into it. ❤️ This is mostly rough data 📈.
For those of you, that main these killers, please, I invite you to kindly put in your suggestions on what you feel those particular killers need. I am not an expert on any of these killers, as I only main The Onyrō.
Several killers need buffs to reach 60% (Behaviors desired goal)
Freddy - Lots of love. Full rework @GeneralV 🥰
Myers - Addon changes that will = Rework/Basekit Changes. Currently he’s at 58%. (Tread carefully)
Onyro - No buffs needed, however QOL. After 2 Addon passes not much changed. Survivors counter her mobility and condemn too easily.
Nemesis - Buff to 60% (Currently at 52%) - Addon adjustments, Basekit adjustments, add one more default zombie? Enhance tentacle. QOL?
Executioner - Addon adjustments desperately. Buff to 60% (Although he close addons might fix that. He’s at 58%)
Knight - Fix Bugs for the love of behavior! ❤️ (QOL) Basekit buff, slight addon adjustments. Buff to 60% (Currently at 54%)
Dredge needs QOL - Better RNG locker spawn. Basekit, buffs to 60% (Currently at 56%)
Cannibal could use a bit of QOL with some Basekit. Not sure what exactly. Buff to 60%(Currently at 55%)
Singularity - Buff to 60%. He currently has the lowest kill rate sitting at barely 50%. QOL change, his pods are too fickle when placing.
Demo - He’s at 55% buff to 60%. Not sure what exactly he needs. (Maybe a demo main can fill this in for me.)
Skull Merchant - needs……uhhmm….tuning. lol. She’s at 68%. Her drones need to not go back into her inventory instantly when hacked where she can just recall. Broken and deep wound is excessive. Pick one or the other.
Pig - She’s at 57%. This will drop a bit after the 2 nerfs she got on her traps. Revert the nerfs and she will be fine. 🐽❤️ If not, buff to 60% NOT NERF, please BUFF. ❤️💀🤣 (No funny jokes behavior 🤣)
Artist - small buff, maybe some Addon changes? (She’s at 55%. Buff to 60%)
Twins - rework.
Pinhead - he’s at 58%. Buff to 60, I don’t know if they will because he’s so close already. Maybe some QOL? Not sure 🤔
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/K3ZHG6GMBGPO/img-1723.jpeg
I feel like I am missing so much in this post but here goes nothing…. Annnnnnd SEND!
Skull Merchant - needs……uhhmm….tuning. lol. She’s at 68%. Her drones need to not go back into her inventory instantly when hacked where she can just recall. Broken and deep wound is excessive. Pick one or the other
I will gladly make it so there survivors always go into deep wound like Legion. I mostly go for hit&run, so survivors healing is good for me.
Her drones need to not go back into her inventory instantly when hacked where she can just recall
Hacked drones are not really easy to notice without line of sight, I highly doubt her kill rate is from recalling hacked drones. I am fine to lock them for like 10-15 seconds if you properly display it with aura (red). Survivors get to deny her drones for longer, but at cost of information, seems fair. It would actually create a possibility to hack drone mid chase, which sounds interesting.
-
Trust me, you don't want Ghostface to work same as Unknown. It's way more forgiving for survivors against Unknown.
-
I would like that change for Iron maiden skin, but that skin just looks so cool already...
Some of those guns you posted are just terrible, I had no idea they can be so bad. How the hell can you hit anything with Holiday Harpooon...
-
There is actually not that many killers, where I use Ultimate Weapon over other info perks.
I use it on Oni (kinda broken for him) and Deathslinger (can't waste any time looking for survivors).
But for most killers aura reading is simply better. Ultimate weapon is broken on fast killers, which could be fixed by simply decreasing duration after first scream, so you can't go around whole map. Basically effect will end like 5 seconds after first scream or something, then it's fine perk imo.
-
I have just seen how Deathslinger's gun look like.... I will never financially recover from this collection.
-
I would hate to see survivor character meta. Just let players play whatever they want. It's bad enough there are different models and sounds.

-
I think Clown changes for better screen visual as survivor is fair trade...
-

I might imagine it harder on TV screen, but I don't really have an issue with monitor.

This change stops nothing of the sort. As a killer, you can always tunnel, no matter how many little tweaks and basekit perks bhvr throws in.
The only thing that stops tunneling are the other teammates intervening, and the killer either losing that one survivor they were trying to tunnel, or taking more interest in the other survivors.
Want some real advice, Behavior? Revert all the RBT changes you just made, keep the stealth/ambush changes, and remove that loud obnoxious growling noise pig makes when beginning an ambush. Then maybe it will actually be good.

"Orrrrrrr we could fix the fundamental problems with solo queue so that there isn't a discrepancy between their power level and then balance the game around that."
The official stats show there isn't a fundamental problem between the power level of most solo q and most SWF. It's just a very small percentage of the 4-SWF players that have an imbalance. And the imbalance requires players to be in high MMR, and most survivors aren't high MMR, and most survivors could never be high MMR.
The official stats show there isn't a fundamental problem between the power level of most solo q and most SWF
Could simply mean most SWF are just bad... or they are simply friends playing casually...
That doesn't mean there is no room for QoL changes for survivors that will target mainly soloQ.
-
I would much rather see Ruin 200% that gets removed when someone dies than current version...
-
They don't really stack. You can't have more than 30 seconds block.
With Grim Embrace + DMS there is no Counterplay.
That's not really true, as soon you see it for first time, you can just wait out Grim Embrace and then work on gen.
The suggested change would be Generators can't be affected by more than one blocking perk at a time.
Well, they are not. Longest duration wins -> DMS.
Or being blocked off a gen wont activate DMS.
Sure, that would work.
It won't solve that much, it will simply get replaced by Pop again. There is not many slowdown perks to use with new 3-gen system...
-
@Orthane said:
These changes would be wayyyyyyyyy too harsh. Just remove the Hinder, that's literally all they have to do.
The First change, fine I guess.
You should not be getting scanned outside of chase, and if you could remove stacks it would be nearly impossible to get Claw Trapped. Or it would create a boring situation like old Sadako where people will be competing to get rid of their stacks.
NO. Just absolutely NO. That is an extremely harsh nerf for no reason.
Absolutely not, on bigger and outdoor maps 6 can still feel rough. I also have not seen a single SM 3 gen since the changes.
Just remove the Hinder, that's literally all they have to do.
I rarely get to it, but I think it would be kinda an issue when survivors could completely ignore drones while injured. You rarely get value of Hindered, because survivors avoid it...
I can see lowering it to 5%, but there should be something so drones can't be just ignored imo.
I also have not seen a single SM 3 gen since the changes.
It was possible before current patch, but not really when gens get blocked so fast. You kinda can play 3-gen with pop, but not really Chess merchant style anymore.
-
Yeah, it could be quite fun meme perk, but it's just useless at this point.
Just use Spirit Fury and that will actually give you hits/downs. Good players can run blinded anyway.
-
@Skillfulstone said:
The removal of gen-tapping alone was enough to possibly broaden the regression perks.
Buff or not, the current "Anti-3-gen" system basically invalidates any regression perks (and non-regression kick perks) outside of Pop and Pain Res purely because of how little payoff every other perks have despite taking away 1/8 regression events.
No buff will make any kick or regression perk other than Pop/Pain Res relevant unless the system only activates after the 4th gen is completed to make all those perks not a detriment if used mid-game.
I can see Ruin and Opression get into meta with those changes.
About others, it won't save them, but those are just number changes, so kinda why not?
-
Issue is, you have challenges and achievements (adepts) that require you to 4k.
When the 3rd survivor has died on hook, give a message to the killer, something like "The Entity is sated. The last one is yours." to more correctly communicate that the 4th kill is bonus points for the killer, and reward them with getting to use their mori *if they choose.*
I kinda like that idea tho, basically give options "Mercy", or "Execution". I wouldn't need to look for hatch...
-
@MrMori said:
After considering it for a bit, I've changed my mind a little on her. I think she only needs two changes.
- Hacking a drone removes a stack of Lock On
- Removed stealth mode from drones completely (not the 8s undetectable, I mean the drone mode where their scanlines are invisible)
Some say she's fine balance wise, and I actually agree. But, she has mechanics that exlusively affect newer players, or players that don't know her power all that well.
Yes, it's easy to avoid being scanned by stealth drones. Just look at the ground to see the circle. But why does this need to exist at all? It's not hard to do, sure, but it's also not very interesting or intuitive either. All it does is cause beginner players to get hit out of nowhere by drones.
If removing stealth mode means fewer random injuries because people avoid the drones better, then good! A good SM player doesn't rely on getting free injuries on noobs to win anyway. And this change wouldn't even make a difference in high mmr. In fact, it would be a small buff to her looping because your drones in loop now rotate faster by default when you deploy them in chase.
Either we remove stealth mode entirely, or we just make stealth mode drones scan lines visible. But I feel that this would be too big of a nerf with how slow the rotation is. I don't care if it's a skill issue, invisible scanlines are unclear, unintuitive, and serves no purpose but to harm less experienced players while doing nothing against stronger players. And that to me is the kind of bad, pointless mechanic that can go to simplify the power. Get rid of invisible scanlines, or stealth mode entirely.
Hacking a drone removes a stack of Lock On
Removed stealth mode from drones completely (not the 8s undetectable, I mean the drone mode where their scanlines are invisible)
Issue is the combination. Basically survivors get rewarded even more for hacking drones and drones are easier to find, because you can see laser accross the map, so you can also avoid those loops easily.
That basically makes it completely pointless to even try setup drones in advance and use it only for stealth and in loops.
I think removing stealth mode for drone will make her even more boring to play, because that's simply not a chance to try play trap style with her at that point.
I would be fine with removing Lock on, if you display disarmed drones in aura. So survivors can remove lock on, but also give skull merchant an information. I think that's a fair trade.
-
So she basically is not able to use her drones in a loop, she has to set it up in advance and on top of it, you want reward survivors even more for hacking them? This doesn't make any sense.
If you want that summoning feature, then it will only make sense when survivors will get a lock on stack from hacking it instead. Kinda like you used to before her rework, when you got claw trap instantly...

If the issue is console player jealousy, shouldn't the solution be to enable them to partake in the techs as well?
Sure, I don't mind. Issue is they will probably not be able to do it, even if you somehow allowed to increase DPI to thousands, because of lack of precision with controller.
Some techs are insanely hard even with mouse, like Pyramid Head's flick, or Billy's LoPro flick (that's probably hardest I can think of).
I don't think there is a chance to get those with controller, but those things simply increase skill ceiling for those killers and make them more interesting in my opinion.
But some consoles are able to use mouse/keyboard, right? So those should be able to do it.

She could have one or the other by itself and still be viable, is what I'm saying.
She's also a very good stealth killer and can set up ambushes easily. Not to mention she also has good chase builds and addons.
Not to mention she also has good chase builds and addons.
Her chase builds are not better than any other M1 killer anymore.
She used to have way better chase builds, when she was best killer for totems. Your chase is way better with Blood Favor, or Devour Hope. Well, that's gone.
And her addons are way worse than before, except like 4-5, they are useless. Most of her addons are around claw traps, but claw traps are mainly used only on survivor in chase, unless survivors screwed it.
She's also a very good stealth killer and can set up ambushes easily
That's highly map dependent and mostly noob stomper. It's not that good on open maps against survivors who can move their camera while working on gens. Otherwise ghostface would be S tier killer.
She could have one or the other by itself and still be viable
I will gladly get rid of Hindered, if they bring back pallet breaking.
Thing is you need to have something there, otherwise drones are completely useless against injured survivors.
And without haste she will feel way worse, most of your chases you don't even get to Hindered and play only with haste. Hindered / claw trap is kinda based on survivors how much value I get. Haste is only thing I can reliably get value from.

wasn't that one of their goals in her rework to improve her stealth?
Her stealth is already improved, or at least easier to use, when it is on demand.
That addon combination made her stealth infinite, which clearly wasn't intended. Sadly they changed that addon in hurry and made it completely useless, which is sad when it could be actually fun addon with some tweaks.

He would boring and predictable without 180 flicks, not to mention that his high level potential would be massively gimped if they removed them.
I will never get why to remove those techs in first place unless it's really game breaking (Blight J Flick was kinda broken imo). It just makes those killers more fun and interesting, isn't that what BHVR should want?
Wesker is good example, he has many techs and that's part of why he is so popular, because those things increase skill ceiling.
I think console players are just jealous...
Xeno had fishing (pulling tail down over object), that's mostly impossible, or way harder from what I tested.
Chucky flick, gone.
How often you see those killers now? It's just a pitty imo. Neither of those seemed game breaking to me.

my mistake, i thought you were talking about expired batteries. low powered mode was re-design to be cooldown add-on though i don't know why i have cooldown for placing drones in first place.
Because of her stealth.
That addon allowed infinite stealth for Skull merchant (with that other yellow addon), which devs didn't seem to like.

I have such a weird mixed feeling on this.
On one hand, survivors still sometimes think drones have the 1HKO effect and don't know you can avoid the beams by crouch walking/standing still.
On the other hand, she does not need haste AND hindered in her kit, and her stealth potential is crazy since she makes pretty much no noise while undetectable.
Also in terms of killrates, I think people giving up against her inflate it like crazy.
On the other hand, she does not need haste AND hindered in her kit
How so?
She has nothing for chase otherwise. Stealth is highly map / survivor skill dependant.
Everything except stealth got nerfed about her and people still complain... Most of her addons are complete garbage.
If anything needs fix for her is to have better tutorials in DBD. Is it so hard to have some manual with tips how to play as and against specific killers?

Why she need boostspeed?
Mainly because she is just M1 killer without a power in most cases otherwise?
That small speedboost is a big deal to make her playable. That's why.
People didn't like her defending totems / gens, so she focus on stealth / chase now.
What exactly she has for chase without that speed boost? Hindered that is up to survivor, if ever becomes active? That's just trash.
I will gladly get rid of hindered for pallet breaking on claw trap btw, that was way more fun for Skull merchant.

Hacking a drone removes the ability to recall it for 10 seconds.
Sure, but display in red aura hacked drones.
Hacking a drone now removes 1 stack of Locked On
Sure, but increase length of hacking like double, or triple, so it becomes passive slowdown if you want to get rid of it.
Skull Merchant only gains speedboost from survivors within 24m of her
Sure, but bring back pallet breaking with claw trap, otherwise there is absolutely not point. It's already gutted.
Or make movement speed bonus static 7%, doesn't matter if it is claw trap or tag, nor how many players have it.
Skull Merchant when 1 or 2 survivors are locked on. Perhaps someone gets locked on across the map mid chase, and suddenly SM moves faster
Then you are just bad. You really want to balance killer around survivors, who don't know how to play against her? You should never get a claw trap outside of chase. Learn to crouch and look around... It's not that hard imo.
Reduce drone count to 5
You wanna make it work through walls again?
