  • Had this happen to me and no, its not out of sheer luck that the survivor just happens to run into me. I remember I did 3 gens, got Ruin out of the way, everyone but me and another died, I started to play a bit more stealthy cause I got a feeling something was going on. I kept seeing the killer down the survivor, so he could see my aura, and help him get up, survivor leads him to me. We get into a chase, I lose him, he finds the other survivor again, does the same thing, survivor leads him to me again, finally gets me and hooks me to death. Then kills the remaining survivor.

Least to say, I was not happy in that moment. Stuff like that is complete BS, esp when you're the one who did most of the work in the match. Just a garbage feeling overall.

  • So..you complain about Adrenaline healing to full once unhooked but you refuse to run NOED which can easily fix this for you..b/c its a 'baby killer perk'.

    Alrighty, movin on.

  • Yea talking crap is one thing after a match. Death threats are another. Report anyone that does that to you. Way too far. Over a video game? Really? Zzzz, some people man. The people that do that need their psych evaluated, they shouldn't be playing games, they should be seeking help.

  • Am I the only one who doesn't experience these que times?

My average ques are 3-7m. Red rank survivor. I keep seeing people bring this up but I've never had this problem/cant relate.

    Whats going on?

  • Yea something is definitely up. I play red ranks, and before this reset that happened, I was getting mostly red/purple ranked players as teammates.

Now I'm getting grey, green, purple. Its so weird. I get into a match and my teammate gets found, hooked within the first 15 seconds, I question it. This person ends up dying within I'd say 5m of the match. All 3 hooks. Not b/c they were tunneled, but b/c everytime the killer chased them, they had no clue how to play and would just instantly go down. Come end game and check scoreboard, yup we had a rank 12 and a rank 16. Like ???

If this is how MMR is going to be after the new system comes in from PTB, I'll likely take a break. This is awful.

No joke after this game I actually felt light headed.

So was playing some solo survivor and got a Pig on Ormond. She started roaring at me so I thought "I'll just try to boop the snoot". She then started hitting a locker so I thought again I'll be nice and jump in. She grabbed me and put a trap on my head. I then got camped till nearly second stage while she was crouched.

After I got saved I got tunnelled. As soon as I got half way through a box she downed me. After she tried carrying me to a corner I decided I'm just going to not let anyone heal me so I won't get killer by the trap and my teammates can escape. However I was soooooo wrong..

My teammates with one gen left decided to waste 3 MINUTES trying to heal me when I obviously didn't want healed. They even 90% a gen and still kept trying to heal me even though the killer was crouched right next to me. After waiting out the full bleed out timer the killer downed one of them and did the same thing. Long story short she killed 2 of them and the 3rd escaped.

They were a 3 man swf, all rank 5 and above and still didn't understand what was going on. My head is legitimately getting worse just typing this out lol

It says a lot when I didn't know after I died if I wanted the killer to 4k or everyone to escape. Oh btw i forgot to say the Pig also had Tampered Timer (30 seconds decreased on timer) and Jigaws Annotated Plan (extra jigsaw box).

I'm sorry if this is too long but I couldn't make it any shorter. It'll be a while before I consider touching solo survivor again.

Solo survivor is frustrating AF, man. I understand your pain. But I also find it 100x more rewarding when you get to r1 solo queing 100%. The amount of times I've yelled at people to my computer, lol.

I just had a match vs Leatherface. Had people dive bombing hooked teammates with leatherface right next to them waiting. Instant 2 down upon unhook. I did 4 gens and took care of Undying + Ruin for the team. They still threw. Red rank/purple rank players as well. I just don't get it.

Those types of matches suck, and I def understand where you're coming from, but I just decide to push on. Its tough tho, no question.

  • For anyone unfamiliar to Jack Baker, look him up. Would be a damn scary killer definitely. Awesome lore/storyline to him and he's just a nasty boss to go up against!

I also like the thought of Chucky, The Thing though. I'd be down for any of the 3.

Edit: Just the thought of 2 more, pretty self explanatory but Alien/Predator.

I think Predator would be intense.

  • Its funny seeing all these killers get high and mighty and try to blame you when in reality its bad on both sides.

If 1 killer does this to you, what makes you think its not going to happen in future matches?

If a survivor teabags you on pallet drop or at exit gates or flashlight spams you, emotes, etc, what makes the survivor think the killer will be merciful in future matches?

The fact is, both sides are toxic AF. Killers will die on their hill blaming survivors and survivors will die on their hill defending their own.

Everyone's matches are different but to say that you're a douchebag for being an ######### based on 1 game, isn't reality. Most of us have all played hundreds of matches and see it time and time again.

Nothing wrong with running meta perks at that point, and if someone tries to blame you or make you feel bad for it, then ignore it. They don't see the 2 PoVs, they see 1 and its theirs.

  • It is laziness. Good players will go hunt for it b/c its still strong. The changes are only on PTB.

That said, I just did a game where I did 4 gens for my team, got Undying + Ruin out of the way, and they still threw. So couple laziness with just being bad players and its almost a guaranteed 3k/4k for you. Always a bad feeling when you're the 1 person on the team actually getting stuff done.

  • Jack Baker from RE7 please

  • @DoritoHead said:

The killer doesn't beat a team of solo queue survivors, the survivors beat themselves.

Can vouch, just did 4 gens, got undying + ruin for my team and they still all threw. Unhooking me right in front of leatherface? Really bro? Thanks for destroying your own team

  • Yea..if you come across red ranks and we realize right away you got Ruin, 1-3 of us will go on a hunt for the hexes. If no one seems to be going, I take it upon myself. I'm getting that annoying hex out of the way.

But honestly, you shouldn't even be facing red ranks as a newer player. The matchmaking is just really really bad. So those games will more often than not, not end up well for you. And b/c we don't see ranks in the lobbies (anymore), you have no way of telling other than going off of their outfits, charms, etc (lol).

  • Shirtless David is my main survivor, there is no other way

  • Well I think this is important so I'll ask;

What is your goal in this game? Are you trying to get rank 1 survivor and rank 1 killer?

Are you more the type to login for 2-3 hours and play non meta perks and just have fun?

Do you have any friends that play the game that can ease the pain/frustration for you?

Its definitely a frustrating game, esp on the survivor side in solo que. But I've also had some really good teammates in solo que that all work together really well and make the game fun. Maybe take a break and come back? New changes are on the PTB so try that and see how you like it as well?

  • Of course not, you're just unaware.

  • Yea killers like you are awesome. And you probably made that Feng player's night/day just from that little act of mercy. It is incredibly frustrating when you realize your teammates aren't doing anything but hiding, dive bombing hooks for the points, and just waiting. So when a killer notices and actually helps the dude who deserves some mercy, its such a good feeling.

    Nice to hear.

  • Well I got 2. Both exhaustion perks. I can't really pick one over the other cause I've made some really awesome plays with both.

Head on & Balanced Landing. Head On b/c like someone said, you just pop out on the killer and BAM! I'm gone again! Haha.

Balanced Landing just b/c I actually have to incorporate it with the environment, usually have to know your path before you start and it just feels really rewarding when a killer thinks he has you in a building 2nd floor and you're just like NOPE! See ya! Also baiting a killer to come for you on a 2nd floor, falling down and rushing over to the survivor on hook, saving them before killer can catch up feels awesome too.

If I had to actually pick between these 2, probably Head On.

I love the “i only play solo argument”... you know there are so many ways to look for groups right? Not an excuse

You know, not everyone wants to have crutches and get advantages over killers with communication. You acting like SWF is the way and you assuming everyone is playing SWF is not the reality. A lot of us do not prefer it, a lot of us do not want it, the game wasn't designed around SWF, we find solo more rewarding and harder (which it is), etc etc. There's plenty of people who solo que and even though its frustrating, getting to rank 1 as solo (or whatever goal you have) is a great feeling.

My point is B) goes out the window b/c not everyone plays SWF and don't want to win like that. Some people do, which is fine. Just don't lump in the whole player base to 1 category cause there's a lot more factors to it. I don't think its that hard to understand, man.

  • You realize not everyone plays SWF, right?

And solo que means 3 other strangers who aren't able to communicate with each other and coordinate like that.

Totems are in predictable spots on most maps. MES has tougher spots, and most of the time, people aren't actively looking unless its confirmed the killer is running Undying+Ruin+Devour Hope.

Also, have you never seen a totem in a spot that can't be cleansed? B/c I've come across 3 totems, 1 hexed, just recently and it was in a spot that was bugged or just no matter what angle you tried, you weren't able to cleanse it.

I don't think Undying or Ruin is hard to play against, but your point with B) is just 1 sided as hell. This game wasn't created with SWF, it was implemented as a community wish and now its gotten to the point where too many people rely on it. A lot of people still solo que so B) goes out the window.

I suck at finding the hatch, is there any tips or advice in finding it quicker?

Grab a rainbow map, load it up with addons (specifically increasing its range), load offering that increases the chance of hatch spawning by killer shack/main building tremendously. And well the obvious, looking for it.

  • One of the more aggravating things for me personally, is when you unhook someone, you know the killer is in another chase so they won't be coming back to interrupt and the guy you unhooked just runs off. Like..ok. If you don't want to be healed, thats fine. If you want the fastest heal, you'll stay put after unhook so I can get it done or you'll follow me to a safer/better spot.

Also goes the other way, when I'm unhooked and I crouch for heals, and the guy just runs off, despite it being safe. Then I get into another chase and b/c no heal, I go down on 1st hit instead of being able to prolong it even more.. Bad feeling.

I'd rather not buy a $1000 PC Because the devs cant optimize their game correctly. So... no thank you.

I understand but with a PC, one you'll be able to play this game on the same level as others and most likely any other game you want, will perform better as well. I think it'd be an amazing investment for the future so I def recommend it. Yea its expensive but it'll last you a # of years and you'll be happy looking back.

But to each their own, man. All the best.

Given that you were quoting and replying to me directly while continuing the conversation for several posts afterwards, you'll have to pardon my delusion.

    I'm terribly sorry.

My first reply to this topic wasn't quoting anyone. Its hard to notice, I guess. Very easy to misinterpret and make it about yourself, when no one even mentioned you specifically. Yes I quoted you after you quoted me. Yes. Again, you can disagree respectfully and maturely, you didn't. Thanks for the sarcastic sorry but you can keep it. I'm movin on, have a good day.

You're writing paragraphs about me leaving games, which are factually incorrect and irrelevant to the points being discussed - Of course I'd comment on them.

'You' as in the general player, not someone specifically. I said 'you' in my first reply to this topic and somehow you took that as an attack on you specifically? What?

"If you take everything as an attack/disadvantage and act like a little baby because of it, I'd say the problem is your mindset, not the survivor's problem for taking advantage of how the lobby works."

"If its that important and pisses you off to the point of d/cing, to get one over the survivor(s) who do this, then keep doing it. Your mindset is part of the problem."

Please tell me you're not that self deluded to think I'm talking about you, specifically, Raccoon. Stop nitpicking. This isn't about you specifically.

I never once said I don't think its unbalanced or that I don't care about the integrity, that was you who decided to attribute that b/c you disagree with my opinion. You can disagree all you want, but if you attack my opinion and condescend while also assuming this, don't be surprised that the person defends their opinion.

No, I said 'you' in my posts, not directing it at anyone but in the general sense (if you actually go read my initial post and the reply after you wanted to condescend). I assumed after the fact you already assumed about me, if you give it, learn to take it buddy. You're the one who attacked my opinion and you're the one who spiraled this conversation. I don't recall stating that I, personally, leave matches for this reason, though based on your replies in this and previous topics, it's fairly obvious why you'd have such a combative mindset.

Well you seem to have a problem with my take and want to condescend while assuming, so I figured I could do the same, yea? See how that works? Don't come at me and I won't either. This coming from the guy w/ 3.750k posts and has to defend every point religiously? Man your lack of self awareness is astounding, bravo.

Judging from your language, you seem to be upset.

No idea why you're talking about me leaving the game, though I suppose it helps your internal narrative.

That was quite the diatribe from someone that doesn't care about the balance and integrity of the game.

Yea cause your judgement is always valid, right. You're the one upset, not me. Stop deflecting.

I could care less if you want to d/c over this. If its that important and pisses you off to the point of d/cing, to get one over the survivor(s) who do this, then keep doing it. Your mindset is part of the problem. Good killers and people who are confident in their skills, don't let things like this stop them from playing, will play the match out.

Never said I don't care about the integrity or balance of the game, although if that helps your 'internal narrative', I suppose roll with it.

well I just read the Friday the 13th devs are working on a new game with an IP they won't have to deal with threats of a lolsuit if they don't abandon it over, not to mention Saber is also working on an Evil Dead game and that one is supposed to be released sometime this year. Once that happens and survivors keep being selfish, entitled and refuse to change their tune in this game they could wind up with queues lasting over half an hour eventually if all the killers decide it's much more fun in that role in either or both of those games.

If it wasnt for the stupid legal threats after some copywrong change of hands, Friday the 13th was on course to put dead by dudelight into the dirt. It's too bad it didn't happen every time I read patchnotes or posts like yours. But this game will hopefully get the competition that it needs to straighten itself and it's survivor playerbase out either this year or when the F13 des' next game comes out without the legal bs issues F13th was killed by. Because F13 was by far the superior game, and it didn't even have the chance to reach it's full potential before that happened. I had way more fun in both roles on Friday the 13th and there were a lot more options in that game. And it actually felt like playing a game based on old horror flicks.

I agree man. I miss that game a ton. I played it so much when it first came out and loved every second of it. I revisit it from time to time and sometimes still have a blast in random lobbies (the few there are).

Sucks that killers can't play around an unintended exploit gain the upper hand.

Reminds me of all those killers that couldn't play around having their killer choice exposed before the game even began a while back.

    Silly killers.

Props on giving everyone a valid reason to disregard anything you say in the future, though - It's always nice to have an early warning.

    Don't get so triggered, bud.

If you're good and confident, you'll play the match out and still perform well. If you take everything as an attack/disadvantage and act like a little baby because of it, I'd say the problem is your mindset, not the survivor's problem for taking advantage of how the lobby works.

Again, if you want to have a temper tantrum and leave the game b/c of something like that, go ahead.

Until they change it (which I doubt they will), it will continue to happen, not just by me but a lot of other survivors. If thats all it takes for you to throw a hissy fit and d/c, not on me.

  • I do this and I don't feel bad. I'm a solo que player 100% of the time.

If something like changing items at the last 10 seconds upsets you to the point that you quit the game, go ahead. 'I'll just make them waste time and get back into their 10-20m que'. Well its more like 3-7m (at least for me at red rank) and I don't mind it at all. Not like I lose my item. I think killers that do this think they're getting one off on the survivors, but its never been an issue for me and I just que right back up.

I'll keep doing this and killers who suck/can't play around it, will continue to d/c in loading screens. Its fine. Keep doin you, pal.

  • If you're on console playing this game and complaining about low optimization, freezes, etc and how disadvantaged you are vs PC players, I got a solution but you going to find an excuse for it

Go buy a PC. Its 2021. I built my first PC when I was just 18 years old. The fact that people continue to play a game on console at 30 FPS, with spikes, freezing, and everything else is astounding to me. And don't hit me with the 'but I'm a console gamer, I don't need a PC'. Well then sit and stew on your platform. Can't help someone who doesn't want to help themselves.

  • @scenekiller said:

    Good morning guys,

I've been playing this game since about September 2019, not sure how many hours in total but I'm a bit over level 5 devotion, for context.

I've played around with perks constantly and I never run any metas, but the one perk I've 100% never pulled out of my build is Spine Chill. My biggest weakness in the game is directional awareness, so I do use it to keep track of the killer approaching me as I'm bad at determining where they're coming from (unless they're in a complete dead zone, obviously).

I was wondering if anybody had tips for training myself to get comfortable without this perk? I want to free up a slot for other things and not have to rely on this to cover my weakness anymore.

When you are on a gen, look around more. Don't just sit on gen, with camera pointed one way. Constantly look around. Especially at the beginning of a match when you don't know which killer it is. Its a bit of multi tasking with constantly looking back and forth while also landing the skill checks, but you'll get used to it. Sure maybe at the start, you'll feel overwhelmed doing it if not used to it. But it will turn into a habit for you.

A lot of survivors don't do this and it sucks especially when I see it at red ranks. I'll be on a gen with Claudette and Myers shows up, and just starts charging his ability. I get off immediately, line of sight, but the Claudette stays on the gen and lets him get his ability incredibly fast, which leads to faster and more pressure from him. Awareness to killers, reading situations like if someone gets slugged and if you have enough time to go save them b/c killer got on someone else, etc. It all plays a part.

Just gotta get comfortable being uncomfortable.

  • If you're in green ranks or lower rank, I'd recommend Self-Care. But you should also get used to not relying on that, esp if you're in purple/red.

Adrenaline, Balanced Landing, Borrowed Time, Windows of Opportunity are all solid.

Perk for endgame, 2 perks that help with chases, BT to help the team in general and provide safe unhooks.

Can swap Adrenaline or WoO out for the SWF type perk; Kindred. Having your team know everyone else's location is a big advantage.

Prove Thyself can work against slower kills, esp at early game vs late game. A good killer will likely keep people from teaming up on gens esp towards end game.

  • Really? There's legit a thread on this already and people explaining exactly why its so bad.

Everything is in a different spot, gen # is at the top center? Why?

The character/player panel is on the top left (right in the way of where possible killer can come from), why?

The character/player panel is vertical instead of horizontal, why??

The ONLY improvement is seeing which player is what character.

'out with the old, in with the new' except the new is god damn awful and no one asked for it. Typical of them.

And as far as being nice to the devs, no one should hold back and 'be nice' just b/c they get criticism. A lot of it is warranted and if people care more about hurting their feelings rather than being honest and bringing up concerns/fixing the game, then ofc we'll get no where.

  • I personally can't wait till new change comes in that pushes all red rank 1s to 20 on reset. Be prepared for hell. It will be glorious. And the frustration hasn't even begun.

    Mwahahaha.

  • Okay, I'll admit that gave me a good chuckle this morning. Thank you

  • I've played 80+ hours in the last 2 weeks, all at red rank. Most games, survivors were NOT rocking DS or UB.

Versus every other killer I've ran into that is playing around Undying/Ruin.

No complaints. I'll win and rank up w/o DS/UB like a lot of others. Talk when you killers can do well w/o your Undying. Its hella rare, and to those killer mains, great job. The others? Yea you're all big babies who want to complain and have temper tantrums.

  • I've been in so many red rank games and DS/UB aren't even being played.

    Versus

Almost every killer using Undying + Ruin.

Great nerf devs, keep it up.

  • Few days ago, I had a challenge to escape the trial through hatch.

Loaded up rainbow map and some addons to help me find it, offering was to increase chance of it being by killer shack. Killer was the Doc.

2 of my teammates were...well, not the best at chases. They kept going down over and over, running killer to the gens being worked on, until they were dead. It was pretty frustrating b/c I destroyed 3 hexed totems, did 2 gens myself, and saved teammates numerous times. The remaining teammate got 1 gen done so we were down to 2 left. Both he and I were on our last life, so 1 more hook was death for the both of us. Killer found me first, so the chase began again. After a good chase, I knew I was about to go down so I went by the killer shack and ...saw the hatch! I stopped for a second and I think the killer realized I was the one who brought everything for the challenge, he downed me inside the killer shack, picked me up, took me to the hatch and dropped me on top of it.

Then he chased the remaining survivor, got him really fast and hooked him. It was on the closest hook to the hatch too, so he had time to come over and slam it shut if he wanted to, catch me while jumping in, etc. He just stood there and waited for the hatch to open and let me escape.

Felt really good and thanked him in the end game chat. Especially since it was my first attempt on that challenge and I was able to move onto the next right away instead of spending several matches focusing on it.

  • Hate it. The only good thing about it is seeing which character is which player.

Besides that, everything is awful. Why is # of gens in the middle of my screen at the top? Why is the character list UI a drop down vertical list over horizontal? I see what they were going for but like so many things, the devs change what isn't needed or asked for.

How is this fair? Yeah nurse is the hardest killer to learn and master but...it's still not a excuse to have an insta easy mode.

    Ok so

    1) this player played badly, nurse hooks very close by, and he stays on gen and on the closest side of it to the hook. Ofc if she came over, she'd see him and be able to down easily.

    2) All he had to do was move off the gen and go to a less predictable spot, even change floors or leave the building briefly.

    Mistakes will cost ya.

  • Not a fan of DS, but I also don't think its as bad as some killer mains make it out to be. I wouldn't be opposed to a rework, but I also never use it in red ranks b/c I'd like to rely on other means to win. Killers are mad Undying got nerfed while DS wasn't touched. So now its temper tantrum to the finest, hit the forums and make thread after thread, hoping your point reaches the devs.

  • I'ma say I don't believe you, cause I've never gone against the same killer 14 times in a row either.

Nothin wrong with Ghostface and it can always be worse.

  • Tired of it as well tbh.

Good killers will get around the nerf, good survivors will not use UB/DS/DH. Bad ones will but regardless.

Please stop. Learn to adapt. I don't ever play SWF to inflate my rank and brag, I don't run BS perks, I want to get my rank 1 every time based on dedication and actual skill. Don't categorize every survivor as toxic or bad.

  • I'm going to get it again regardless of how hard or easy it is, w/o SWF, without DS and UB, etc. Solo 100%. See y'all in-game.

  • I'm not sure worried is the right word for me, but am I worried? Yes.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3zABFuuKzQ

  • How were they bullying you? By emoting or? Teabagging during the game? I'm confused.

  • This is just my opinion but;

If you use DS, you're just like Dead Hard players who rely on something to save them/fix their mistakes. You're not a good player.

If you use DS, UB and DH, you're a horrible player and your rank is probably not justified. If you're using these 3 at red ranks, its just sad.

    Carry on.

  • Used Dead Hard at max, like 5 times in all of my DbD. I love Balanced Landing mainly cause it requires a bit more thinking, it can be used horribly or you can incorporate it into a chase and prolong it. Dead Hard is just for people who suck at looping or need second chances to save them. I'm a red rank survivior (1/2) and I would love a redesign on it b/c I feel too many people rely on it.
