Pulsar's departure & others being banned made me realize we didn't mean much to BHVR, which led me to basically just go full lurker mode. Crazy decision to close an entire forum but can't say its not on track for them.
Gonna miss checking in here as I don't go on reddit or twitter. Guess its really the end. Salute to all the cool peeps I met. Adios everyone & hope to see y'all in the fog! :/

My main killer! Solid killer overall in terms of power kit & addons (addons are all pretty viable, depending).
Excels in hit & run, his bread and butter (I know a lot of people hate this strat). B+ tier/low A IMO. High mobility paired with being able to catch people off guard or in unfavorable positions. Not healing against a Wraith that knows what he's doing is basically a loss for the survivors. You need to heal against him.
Overall a pretty fair killer, you can catch him coming towards you from his shimmer effect & he is pretty straightforward to understand, both against and playing as. In a pretty good spot honestly.

I don't lobby shop for the most part but I do have criteria for it. I absolutely will do anything and everything I can to avoid bad teammates. And it still doesn't amount to much.
- if you don't bring items (biggest red flag)
- default outfit
- 3 stack w/ flashlights

Glad someone is bringing this up. DLSS/DLAA should have been included YEARS ago.
Not surprising from BHVR though. They refuse to update their MMR system, they have never updated their report system, they took over 7 years to update the bloodweb system. They are always behind on things that people actually want.
But make no mistake, they'll pump out 5 new cosmetics for you, no problem!

Some games I picked up during the Summer Sale & recommend (I am a huge Single player enjoyer):
- TLOU Part 1
- Metro 2033 Redux, Metro Last Light, Metro Exodus
- Cronos: The New Dawn (Resident Evil + Dead Space, beautiful game too)
- Tainted Grail: Fall of Avalon (Insane value for the price & its basically a better modern Elder Scrolls). Really good story.
- The First Berserker: Khazan (really good Dark Souls game that a lot of people don't know about)
- Baldurs Gate 3 - my first playthrough was 165 hours (tons of replayability)
- The Witcher 3
- Middle Earth: Shadow of War (LOTR game with patented nemesis system, lots of value)
- Dying Light 1 & Dying Light: The Beast
- Alien: Isolation

The irony is arachnophobia didnt stop resident evil from putting a spider in their game lol yet the "horror hall of fame" can't go there
Yea I mean its BHVR though. They cater to a certain agenda. They are also one of the only ones that I can think of that have a live-service MP game that pulls in thousands but still haven't added voice chat or experimented with it despite it being a solution. We shouldn't exactly be surprised anymore.
A spider killer would go so hard (and I have Arachnophobia).

Tired of sweaty and toxic players. Tired of getting irritated and frustrated with myself, the game and other players. Tired of feeling like I wasted an evening when I sign off unsatisfied. Tired of regretting even giving gaming a second chance sometimes. I'm honestly just drained and over it all. Hope you can all somehow keep enjoying this cycle because I think I'll be dropping the game at last. Actually, maybe even online games as a whole. Ironic, seeing as the tenth anniversary is starting soon too. Congrats, and, maybe, even thanks, Dead By Daylight. I'm finally considering waking up.
Switch to single player games. There are many and they are amazing. Its different but its peaceful. I still routinely return to DbD and R6S b/c I do like being competitive but I've also realized I really love a good single player game that nets me 45-70hrs of playtime. Even the new Resident Evil Requiem, despite not being a long playthrough, was amazing in quality and gameplay & I'll be back to it in the future for a modded/insanity run.
I thought I was outgrowing gaming too before I started turning to single player games. Good luck man!

So, what do I mean by that?
It's really simple. The reason we can't have anything nice, the reason all the new players quit, the reason why "everyone tunnels/everyone is genrushing".
It's us. The "I HAVE to win" mentality, the constant Us VS Them arguments, the sheer, radioactive toxicity oozing out of every interaction between players.
BHVR doesn't help as much as they should. True. But what can you even do with a decrepit cesspit that the DbD community is?
Shouldn't the point of a game be to have fun? To have a break from stress and relax?
You're partially right - we are a big part of the problem but lets also not pretend BHVR is the staple of gaming studios or that they have been doing good work. The last year was pretty much a dud and waste of time.
Way more bugs, way more things break with each new chapter, their quality patch regarding anti-tunneling & anti-camp went absolutely nowhere and was given MONTHS of attention, all for it to be scrapped. Their report system hasn't been altered since the creation of this game, we still have no real incentives (BP is not a real incentive) to strive for. We have an outdated bloodweb system that received almost no changes and when it did, it was after 7+ years. Killers that haven't been touched or fixed in YEARS.
You can blame the community, I'll blame the dev team for wasting time, amounting to nothing, and then scapegoating the community as a reason to not try things or push the game forward.
-
Ranked would probably bring quite a few people back to the game. I know a few people who quit specifically cause of how stale the game is and the lack of incentives. Bloodpoints are nothing. They barely give any iri-shards and they give absolutely 0 auric cells.
There are no skill-based challenges to chase that give valuable rewards nor are there any goals to chase like 'hit a certain rank and you obtain xyz reward'.
Yea there would definitely be problems with splitting the player base and que times, but I do believe it can't be any worse than what we've been going through for the last 9+ years.
I welcome them trying this, honestly. I don't want them sticking to the same game mode for another 5+ years.
-
Baseline Kindred.
-
- Company change - BHVR does an awful job & I don't have faith in them anymore. As simple as I can make it.
- Stop extreme nerfing one side or another.
- Stop listening to content creators so much.
- Play. Your. Own. Game. I genuinely believe they do not, minus a few exceptions on the team.
- Monetization is all they seem to care about - release a new popular license, get money. Release a new broken killer, get money. Throw out cosmetics, get money.
- PTB is pointless.
- Almost no innovation in 9+ years. People still asking for baseline kindred in solo que. Maps gutted, same bloated bloodweb system, insane & overwhelming grind for new players, etc.
- Actions over words. Always.
-
I stopped giving them money years ago when I realized their priority revolved around pumping out cosmetics & new releases that launch in horrible states, while the game bleeds from the thousand cuts it has open.

See I would be way more understanding of the disconnecting if it weren't at the beginning of the match where nothing has happened yet. The people I'd rather punish for DCing aren't the people that are dead on hook anyways mid-way through after 8 hooks for the team, nor the people who disconnect when the game is being wrapped up in the end game collapse.
I just want to see the players who see a killer that is otherwise inoffensive in terms of power-type and choose to disconnect punished appropriately for effectively causing the game to go be swayed because of a selfish whim.
Once more, I do want to clarify that the irrational fear folks are fine in my book. The folks that cannot hear the sound of vomiting, the folks who have issues with fungi, THOSE people are fine. It's the people that disconnect on a match versing Wraith when they see it's Wraith and leave the rest of the team with the metaphorical bag.
I agree with you on that.
But what I'm saying is there is nothing keeping anyone in a match. There are no real incentives, there are no real rewards, teamwork is not rewarded, selfish play more or less is. You can do 3 gens for your team but be downed and hooked at the end of the match while your 3 other mates just run out the gates.
BHVR does not want to add in a serious game mode that would give people real incentives, real rewards (BP is nothing), improve match quality and ease frustrations, etc.
If someone is going to d/c at the beginning of a match because they hear its Ghoul's terror radius, then there should be real reasons for them to stay in the match and not because 'they could ruin the match for others' or 'my fun as killer matters too'. Until there are actual reasons to stick around, this will not change. And I doubt BHVR has any plans of going this route.
-
I don't think this problem will ever be 'fixed'. You can't police people into staying in a match they deem unfun or unfair. Whether their reasoning is valid or not to you, does not matter to them.
"but they ruin the match for the 4 other players" - They don't care about that. That is not important to them. Never was.
Of course we'd all like good quality matches w/ little to no worry about disconnects but I don't think that will ever be a thing, especially considering we've had the same default quickplay 1v4 for 9+ years w/ BHVR just slapping bandaid after bandaid on.
There are no stakes, no real rewards, the 'system' that grades you on skill is absolutely awful, the matchmaking itself is awful, etc. Frustration comes from numerous avenues.
-
Before Nov 9th, my teammates were pretty good. The last 2 days however - awful.
From people being left on hook for entire stages, people not doing gens, saving people off hook right in the face of killers not once but twice, unhooking but not healing, etc.
IDK what changed but something definitely has, at least for my match experiences.
-
Your opinion is not a fact & no one should be policed or forced to reply to give their reason for downvoting you.
There are a TON of people who lurk the forums and only reply occasionally. That doesn't mean they don't read the threads or what you are posting. That doesn't mean exclude them or take permissions away.
People disagree. That's life.
-
Same sentiment as the poster above.
People abused the hell out of stretch resolution and diehard defended it until it was removed. Anyone with a IQ over room temp knew why they were using it.
Same thing w/ reshade. A lot of people will claim innocence but I don't think they are. Until its absolutely removed/banned, people will continue to rely on it.

The stats website has no correlation with the stats that we collect internally that work for things like MMR and the stats we periodically show to players.
Thats…concerning.
Why would you release an official stat stracker when its inaccurate?
Why would you release an official stat tracker knowing its inaccurate & doesn't corelate to how BHVR collects and displays said data?
Is the goal to confuse players? What is the point of the stat tracker then.
-
Yea I completely ignored it. The only thing I liked was the animated banner and they locked that away as the last reward and I have to do 18 quests for it. Easy pass.
Hopefully next year, they actually have something new designed and/or put in some effort. This was very lazy.

Moving on quickly from a massive topic doesn't help or provide Feedback. Honestly, when creating a Post you should just have the option to allow downvoting. I want Feedback to my massive posts, not a single button press from someone who didn't even read the post and then they just move on.
Yes but you can't have upvotes without downvotes. The feedback is through the vote system. Like Nazzak mentioned, its just a simple matter of upvote = agree, downvote = disagree. Its convenience. What you're asking for is an explanation or reply from people who downvote you b/c you are assuming they either don't like you, have ulterior motives, haven't read your post fully, etc.
Again, I understand your point and I welcome promoting discussion but forcing people to reply to justify their reasoning isn't the way.

Then those people shouldn't be on here, as that defeats the purpose of a Forum, to discuss. They don't have to reply, they can continue to spam votes, but the thing is, if they keep doing that without comments to follow, it looks like they have biases or vendettas against certain users, and thats when people who are doing that should be known and disregarded.
Learning to not care what others say about your opinions is actually bad for your conversing skills. If you refuse to accept another person's side of an argument, just continuing to say their wrong or just not acknowledging them, you're reinforcing your own bias since someone opposes your opinion. You should want Feedback, not a downvote that tells you nothing.
I understand. I personally am not against the anonymity being removed - I wouldn't mind seeing who is disagreeing and agreeing. But no one should ever feel like replying is mandatory.
A small chunk of people may be malicious with it but I think you may also just be reading into something a bit too much. Sometimes, people just want to be able to move on quickly but make their opinion known through the vote system.
I didn't say learn to not care what people say. I said learn to not care too much about it (referring to downvotes and upvotes system). If you are in a good faith discussion/debate and both parties are open to changing their minds about things, then of course absolutely listen to what they have to say.
-
I don't think anyone should be forced or policed into having to reply to you in any thread in order to justify their downvote or upvote of your post. They don't have to answer to you. When you post, you are acknowledging you are throwing your opinion out there in a public space & people will likely find something to disagree with you about.
Best advice is learn to not care too much about it. Say what you want to say but don't expect anything from anyone, no one owes you a reply or an explanation.
-
Her flight is crazy overpowered, which just complements the rest of her kit.
I had a match where I outplayed Krasue on a loop, pallet stunned her, immediately ran to another tile b/c I know staying there was a death sentence. Well, she broke the pallet and caught up to me via flight mode before I could even make it to the next tile.
I love how they gave Myers a huge CD on his Slaughtering Strike despite being a mid/lower tier killer & left Krasue's flight mode unchecked. BHVR greed & incompetence on full display.
-
You shouldn't ever let something as trivial as 'downvotes' stop you from saying what you what to say. Always speak your mind.
I may not have agreed with you on everything but I do respect you for always standing on what you believe. Hopefully you stick around. If not, all the best & see ya in the fog.

I wish 2v8 was the new casual mode, while 1v4 would be the new ranked mode with ranked rewards. 2v8 is so silly and fast paced and I love that as a casual player. Sadly everyone here on the forums hate 2v8 ☹
Forums are a big vocal minority. Majority of people playing enjoy it way more than the regular 1v4. Which is evident just by player stats when 2v8 rolls around & the game gets thousands of returning players. There is a reason BHVR asked in their recent survey whether people want it to be a 'come and go' type of event or actually be implemented permanently.
-
- hivemind mentality (solo que will know)
- 3 teammates death hooked, 1 1st time hooked
- On 2nd or last generator, usually last generator
- no one tunneled out/teammates tried to help victim out
- general efficiency - when people disregard points and play 'for the win', even if that means they die for the greater good/outcome
-
@Mandy said:
The most frustrating part about The Ghoul from survivor side, was his "kidnap tech", by removing that we feel that this will open the door for survivors to have counterplay to the killer, we've already seen this happening amongst survivors even with kidnap tech.
No, absolutely not. Why are you ignoring all the feedback regarding his free hit/deep wound? As if no one brought it up. Kidnap tech was bad as well & its a step in the right direction but this is not enough and people will still hate him, b/c you haven't done anything about his free hits. Players having no control about being Deep Wounded is one of the most frustrating things about him.
-
Its just people who are set in their ways/playstyle and don't want to change. The easiest thing to do is complain when something is new & untested.
Myers seems a lil odd with the charged up lunge but besides that, W.
-
Good changes overall. Would like to see more adjustments for Ghoul, generally around his power inflicting deep wounds without even being in melee range of the survivor. Myers is interesting.
To the people complaining about anti slug - 90 seconds is a lot of time, if you can't make something happen in that timespan, thats entirely on you.
A lot of people just commenting and exposing themselves as blatant tunnelers/sluggers who don't want the game to go in a healthy direction.
Overall pretty W update IMO. Looking forward to the PTB.

My only problem with 2v8 is that it wrecks the 1v4 queue so it's either play the casual party mode and wait half an hour to make tiny progress on killer quests, or don't play killer at all.
And killer in 2v8 has not been fun for me anyway.
@Caiman said:
"everyone is just having a good time"
Yeah, I love every survivor match being against Blight or Legion.
Yeah, I love queuing for 30 minutes to play killer only for my teammate to be AFK for 90% of the match.
A good time. Right.
@Caiman said:
Oh, and we can't forget the constant teammate ragequits so I end up with several bots that are even dumber in 2v8 than they are in 1v4.
Oh..I thought your 'only' problem with 2v8 was that it wrecks 1v4 que times.
If killer isn't fun for you in 2v8 and you seemingly find any and every reason not to que 1v4, then maybe you should take a break and go play something else.
Not every match is a Blight or Legion, stop exaggerating.
You either had an AFK teammate once or you're lying/exaggerating. Your teammate is not AFK in every killer match nor is it a common occurrence. You don't have to lie about things, we play the same game.
-
Sum it up in a TLDR please, would help.
- you posted a ton of misinformation. Basically, stuff that isn't true.
- most people are going to prio 2v8 - a lot of reasons stemming from 1v4 problems.
- 1v4 will still be there after 2v8 leaves.
- Most people who are adamant about 2v8 do not care about 1v4 que times.
- Most people find 2v8 more fun, 1v4 brings more strategy but it also brings perk builds that a lot of people hate.
-
There seems to be a lot of negativity around it when I come to the forums but I do enjoy it, on both sides. I don't mind the extension at all, considering it is limited time & we'll have to go back to 1v4 eventually anyways. Rather enjoy it while its here.
-
Apologies are great if they are authentic. The problem is, BHVR is just saying 'sorry' to save face & not b/c they are actually sorry and want to do better. This Walking Dead chapter was a huge sign that they don't care about player feedback & barely even playtest their own game (shout out to the metal pole that went unseen and made it to live servers somehow).
They care more about cosmetics and selling people on new content rather than actually fixing their game. Its been like this for awhile. & I'm just tired of their same ol 'Were very sorry, we'll do better' reply. I've said it before, how they handle this game is abysmal and they're lucky they don't have a competitor that's pushing them to do better.
Their apologies are hollow at this point.
-
Doubt it just like TCM.
Same company attached to it..Gun Interactive. Horrible company that should be shut down. They have a track history of abandoning their games, arguing with their playerbase, loading their games w/ disgusting and horrid MTX, etc.
I doubt the license will be revoked for a brand new game, that is 99% likely to fail.
-
@Madmillennial said:
Maybe I'm the minority here but I just dont get the appeal of 2v8. I kinda hate it lol. I just can't wrap my head around it to be honest. Whats the appeal of being ganged up on by two killers and being double tapped?
I mean, I can see how the chaos could be amusing for awhile but I can't take this mode seriously at all. Its like a party game where you go in and you expect to die,and laugh at how silly it all is. Thats how I see it.
The saving grace, and only reason I play it is because of the 5x multiplayer. Those points are nice. :)
Is 2v8 really loved so much? I'm cool with it coming as an event like the chaos shuffle and stuff tho to mix things up definitely. But as a stand alone match? I dont take it seriously, and im amused for about 3 or 4 matches and im ready to go back to the regular game.
- The chaos
- Shake up from the norm - a lot of people do not want to continually play the 1 default game mode thats been around since the beginning and will also be around after 2v8 leaves
- The class system - a lot of people like it over 'perk builds'
- Allows people who would normally not touch killer to try out killer knowing they will be getting some help from a teammate
- The fact it isnt taken as seriously as 1v4, its just a fun party game mode
- Not as frustrating in loss, regarding both sides
- Constant action as the match progresses - pressure from both sides
Just some reasons IMO.
-
Yea, noticed it too. Its got some crazy delay to activating, despite the killers blatantly walking around the caged survivor to deny a free save.
Also played a Wraith game and had someone caged on 2nd stage, team didn't save him, I was just running around his cage (match was already over) & he still wasn't transported to another location. IDK if the activation to transport needs the killer to be 'seen' but its definitely very wonky/inconsistent.
-
I had some rubber banding last night in 2 matches. Haven't had that issue in a long long time.
-
It broke for me too, I realized I was just endlessly waiting in que & found that odd as a survivor.
Dropped the que and re-qued, matched instantly. Definitely something goin on.
Doesn't help that there isn't any timer indication for how long you've been in que.
-
Yea, I qued up @ 11:31 - now 11:44, for a EQA of 7m. This is way off as well.
Got matched finally @ 11:46
-
Been waiting 3-4minutes now in a 7m estimated wait time and still no pop up.
Edit: Still no pop up 5 minutes later.

Hey folks. I totally hear your concerns here, but also want to give some background. Balancing is an iterative process that takes time to find a sweet spot, and this is very much another step in that process. To quote one of my favourite fantasy series', "journey before destination".
We 100% want to hear your feedback once you get a chance to play a few Trials with this new change, so please let us know how it's feeling. We're here to grab that feedback and make sure the team is made aware.
What do you mean, we've been giving you feedback on it ever since it launched and the only feedback you seemed to listen to were the people calling for nerfs.
With all due respect & IMO, that sentence about it taking time to find the sweet spot is total bull. It took you 1 week to nerf this item upon its release followed now by this nerf, but now you want to 'take time' to adjust it?
No, I will not be using your awful item now, when you ignored feedback for 3 weeks on one side.
-
The giant metal pole in the loading screen says everything about this patch. They didn't test anything themselves. Incredibly lazy.
They're lucky they don't have any other game competition in this genre, cause how they operate is abysmal.
-
They haven't been in my bloodwebs (I got 1) since the beginning of their launch. The only way I found to consistantly get them is to use the auto bloodpoint spender. This entire patch is riddled with bugs.
-
It seems to be pretty rare. I've only played on it once myself.
-
Stealth & deception were a staple of this game from the start. Just b/c they nerfed Distortion into the dirt does not mean the game 'evolved' and stealth should stay dead. A LOT of people like the stealth. It adds an avenue of fun versus bringing the same ol medkit, toolkit, or flashlight that we otherwise would have brought.
Its like the old fog that used to be default in every map, it added to the atmosphere and now its just gone. Even though no one asked for it to be taken away and most people want it to be brought back.
A lot of killers are just not fans of seeking out survivors & they disguise their opinions about perks/items as legitimate reasons when they aren't. At least you're being honest & I can respect that.
-
Oh its too difficult but if I'm just going with 3…
Night House - deals with depression, mental illness & death of loved ones. A lot of people don't know about this one, it is VERY underrated. Supernatural. Big recommend.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) - Amazing brutal depiction of Leatherface & the family. (2006) is right up there as well, both really well done movies.
Hereditary - one of the better movies to do supernatural horrors.

I would have to first get the damn thing to spawn in my bloodweb.
But looking at them, the best combo seems to be Mushroom Formula + Oily Sap.
So this was happening to me too. I went through probably 15-20 lvl50 bloodwebs & only got 1. They just weren't showing up in the bloodwebs if I manually completed them.
However if you use the bulk bloodpoint spender, you end up getting them. Lotta things bugged right now.
-
Although I don't have a problem with the item itself, I do think fog vials should be killswitched till the bug is fixed. Crazy its still in the game despite being reported countless times by so many people.
-
Was happening to me last night, thought I was the only one.
It seemed to let me 'through' to the survivor side if I kept trying/switching to killer and back. It was random though.
