  • Yea this happened to me about 3 or 4 days ago? I ended up dying and going next. As if that killer isn't intolerable as is, lol.

    Hope it gets fixed soon.

  • I played at the start of BM event when he came out. Realized how stupid broken he was, took like 3 weeks off and came back to see how he was after his lil 'nerf' patch. Realized the nerfs did almost nothing consequential to him, dropped the game again.

Most people with a brain saw he was a problem within the first few hours when he released. Disingenous and biased players defended him.

Hopefully BHVR does something soon. Going to be difficult changing people's perception of a killer after leaving it in such an unfair & unfun state. Especially if he isn't reworked or hit with heavier nerfs.

  • To answer your question straight up -

no it will never be public. That isn't a BHVR thing to do.

It’s zero % surprising you got so many downvotes when it’s so much easier to complain “kILLeR op!!!” than it is to improve one’s own skills in the game.

Maybe its b/c people have already tried every avenue of counterplay imaginable and its very clear the killer is just overtuned.

I'll play your childish and disingenous game though -

Its zero % surprising you're most likely a player who likes to take advantages of broken killers and act like you're not doing anything wrong. Its much easier for you to defend the killer on the forums rather than actually play the game AGAINST a Kaneki & realize + accept you're completely wrong.

  • On some fronts, sure.
In general and overall - no.

We waited 8+ years just to get another game mode besides the default.

We waited 8+ years for banners/badges.

We waited 7+ years for custom lobby bots.

No comp, no integrated voice comms which literally every multiplayer game has that relies on teamwork.

No MMR display, no clue of what caliber survivors or killers you're going against.

No care at all for solo que, despite that being the grand majority of players.

Full on greed for cosmetics and other store purchases.

This company is awful in today's standards. I equate BHVR to Blizzard Entertainment in regards to their genre they have complete domination over.

If they had healthy competition, there'd be a lot more risk of losing players. But we have nowhere to go, cause every other game in this genre…is absolute garbage or has failed in its come up.

  • I took 3 weeks off, came back - first match was Kaneki.

Tried to do what you do against Wesker & Nurse which is double back/try to be unpredictable. Not only did it not work (Kaneki just canceled out mid swing & his aim lock just instant applied Deep Wound) but I was also on the other side of a tile, lol. The most disappointing part is - you can tell you outplayed the player on Kaneki, but his kit mitigates it. Almost like laughing in your face.

Its almost as if they gave Kaneki the gift of having 300+ ms ping & said 'screw it, lets make it a power'. Reminds me of Freddy long fingers when it comes to vaults.

Hate this killer with a passion right now, ngl.

    Nice 'nerfs'.

  • @PetTheDoggo said:

Basically the only thing I am still annoyed by is that he can fully cancel his slide after dash.

I think he should always slide, even if he press cancel during the dash, which means survivor can try to double back and it's not so easy to get next to a survivor.

+1. Just went against a Kaneki & I did this. Woulda been counterplay/outplay against Wesker but nope, Kaneki's aim lock just cancels out his sling and applies Deep Wound despite being on the other side of a tile. Took 3 weeks off & came back to this.

So much for a nerf, lmao.

  • Pretty much why I'm not playing until he's nerfed. 9/10 matches are Ghoul & that isn't fun.

All I conclude from BHVR not including Ghoul in the patch notes is that it was intentional and there is no other real reason besides they want to cash in on the killer more by keeping it in its broken state currently and that means at the expense of my fun. No thanks. Slimy. Greedy. Typical though. Hopefully the nerfs come soon.

  • Pretty awful experience for me too. Its either Ghoul or Legion in the BP event.

People just taking advantage of deep wound free hits & making the game boring. I played for 3 hours last night & 2 matches featured a killer that wasn't Legion or Ghoul. Not looking to be tunneled/proxy camped on the ground during an entire month of the event going on & facing off against the same 2-3 killers over and over.

No thanks, lol. Taking a break till the event is over/some patch notes hit the Ghoul.

  • You need to account for new game releases, which will always take away from DbD's playerbase, otherwise you just come across disingenous or unprepared for the discussion at hand.

PoE2 just launched their Early Access and have over 500k players logging on each day (much higher across multiple platforms). Of course thats going to drive a lot of DbD players to put the game on hold, for something new & addicting.

I will say, I have not launched the game in over 2 weeks due to PoE2 & just overall having fun/taking my time up in other games/activities.

But yea DbD sucks. In general. So we'll agree there. :)

  • Although I don't think its warranted, I can't help but smile @ all the biased killer mains.

Killer mains did the same thing with Distortion, Iron Will, even some complaining about WoO, etc.. so in a way, this is just payback.

    Reap what you sow.

  • I haven't had a match in over 3 months AT LEAST (probably more like 5/6) where a killer has shown me mercy. Maybe its MMR, maybe its just the players I run into. But this is almost a myth to me at this point.

I've never given a killer a mercy kill in my 3k+ hours of playing survivor. Even when they got completely stomped.

Were playing a kill vs survive game, we all know what we signed up to when we que'd up a match as either role.

However, when I'm killer and its a complete stomp - typically I will give the final survivor hatch cause I do feel bad sometimes. Especially on my Hit n Run Wraith. Probably the killer I am most merciful on since I play him the most.

  • Que times were completely fine for me. Almost instantly joined a lobby when queing as survivor and the longest I had to wait as killer was about 5 minutes. I preferred 2v8 to the 1v4 dread tbh. In 1v4, as survivor you're more likely to die and lose. Where as in 2v8, you're more likely to win (at least my exp). Killers have more control in 1v4 and survivors have more control in 2v8.

It feels a lot worse to have some noob on your team weighing everyone down when its a 1v4. 2v8 is a lot more forgiving and with the class loadouts, it allows people to pick up other teammate's slack where in a 1v4, its basically impossible.

Que times aside (I've only really seen that complaint, nothing else really) it was a good game mode and I do hope it comes back in the future. Just fix/add to it in each iteration.

Que times being a problem is not a valid reason to me to dismiss a game mode that is actually fun at its core concept.

  • Pretty good honestly! Games are pretty smooth/fair. I do escape more often than not. The long drawn out matches where everyone is being hooked/taking turns are the best. I thought w/ Blight & Nurse it'd be a mess but very happy w/ how they've been handled.

    Just fix killer que times!

  • Big surprise the perk BHVR nerfed that countered aura reading isn't played at all now or very little.

When there's over 20+ aura reading perks on killer side, god forbid survivors have something reliable to combat it.

Yes it hurts solo survivor but I disagree with your point. It doesn't define a match and you'll still be able to win a fair share as survivor, granted your team is of course trying to win as well.

Ignore the gaslighting crowd though, they will spin it and try their hardest to portray Distortion as a problem, when in reality they're just biased and disingenuous. They've had their pitchforks out for this perk for awhile now.

  • Yea no problems. Its actually faster for me than queing up for the halloween event. Extremely fast ques for me.

    NA East if that matters.

  • I wouldn't have a huge issue with Coldwind if they didn't change up jungle gyms. IDK why they did but those tiles that replaced jungle gyms are absolutely awful for survivors and basically gives the killer a free hit if you try to play it.

REVERT the tile changes & bring back the old jungle gyms.

  • This game is missing a lot. Keep in mind this game's been out for 8 years now (or nearly). I could go on a rant but whats the point, lol.

BHVR gonn BHVR like they usually do. Exhaustion and bitter acceptance is where I'm at.

  • They will never do this b/c it hurts their approach to development a lot more than it helps it. If they did this, they wouldn't be able to hide behind their stats when they make questionable changes to killer powers and perks overall.

And even IF they ever did release statistics for everything, would you believe them at their word?

  • I mean if your team snowballs the match before a single gen is completed, there's no obligation on you to stick it out.

At the same time, there have been so many matches that were looking like a loss but the team turns it around.

But yea, most of the time I'd say if a match is snowballed heavily for the killer before a single gen - its a loss. The first gen should be the easiest to complete and if there's that much of a struggle to get it done, then thats a huge red flag for the rest of the match.

It really depends - if I got 3 memers, people not doing gens, people going down in 10-15second chases, not doing anything at all, etc. Nah, I'm going to want to GG go next for those.

If my teammates had a rough start but they're still trying to play the match, I will too.

The 'GG go next' mentality for me only really comes into play w/ certain types of players and gauging the killer player's skill. Good killers aren't going to just let you stroll to a victory when they've built so much pressure in the early game. And the one's that do let up and decide to give mercy Ws or tie the match instead of slaughtering everyone, isn't what I'm really looking for either.

I hate how he barely has a cool down for his wolf form and bat form. Not to mention the speed buff they gave his bat form.

    @Xernoton said:

I dislike Dracula. He doesn't feel very rewarding to play against because any number of mistakes hardly matter, since you make no distance thanks to the bat, he doesn't really need to play around most windows and he has 2 chase powers for pallets.

So it feels like it doesn't matter what you do or how many times he messes up because the bat and his 2 chase powers always bail him out.

These 2 posts sum it up. No, I do not like Dracula.

  • I can't exactly agree with you since just the other day, I looped a Huntress on DDS for over 3 minutes while my 2 remaining teammates did the last 2 gens and they had NWO so we were delayed even more getting out. She made the mistake of staying in chase with me instead of going for the worse players & that ended w/ us 3 getting out.

Good survivors can still loop. It does depend heavily on the tile & the killer you're up against. Staying at a loop too long and playing it wrong is usually what leads to people going down fast. And there are far more bad players and bad loopers in this game who have no map or situation awareness, don't look behind themselves in chase, etc. Gotta chain the tiles and try to predict things the killer might do (like a huntress slowing down to throw a hatchet through an opening in a window you're about to pass by).

  • Hmmm this a tough one cause there's a good # of very oppressive and high pressure killers.

I'll give it to my man, the Oni.

  • Shouldn't be able to see across a map clearly.

Bring old fog back please (still no explanation as to why it was removed in the first place).

  • If this is the route we're going, I should start demanding a refund for investing in a character for certain perks that I bought.

But I'm not going to do that cause I'm not entitled. You bought something knowing it full well could be buffed or nerfed. You got the latter. Now suddenly its 'I want a refund or compensation'. No sorry, it doesn't work like that.

  • I wish they'd bring him in. He's an awesome killer but yea, very similar to Trapper.

Both movies were so good (if you havent watched the movies, seriously go watch it!).

  • Yea … don't blame you at all. Let em all die (while doing gens) & try for hatch. At least you give yourself a chance instead of guaranteeing the killer a 4K by running at him like those players.

I never feel bad letting those types of players die. I just accept it and 'go next' mentality. They have no problem ruining a match. Not on me at that point to save. You did the right thing.

  • Sucks more people don't run fog offerings, I miss the spooky/darker feel of the maps.

Also don't know why they removed so much of it. If you look at old videos, you'll see such a huge difference. Its like night/day.

  • Omg yes!

Definitely a lot of potential with this, I'd be all for it.

I never said Homelander himself had tentacles, just that the shady company that made the pharmaceuticals resulted in MANY different transformations...including tentacles.

    https://youtu.be/ZC1T3uOZUeI?si=su7SNf2mH0FkqUxI

DBD has characters from basically ALL range of the killer spectrum. How can you say that Homelander doesn't fit, but a murderous Teddy bear and a K-pop idol fit just fine?

Yea IK the company has done that to OTHER people but that isn't Homelander. Were talking specifically about Homelander and Wesker.

Also Butcher in the comics, turns out to be the omega villain (which I think the show is leaning towards in the final season). By the end, Butcher has Kimiko, Frenchie and Mother's Milk killed. The only one he spares is Hughie, and Homelander is long dead by this point (thanks to Black Noir). If anything, I'd argue Butcher as fitting a lot more into DbD since he literally lets the parasite/worm in him (on the show) take over essentially and you can see his humanity is near gone (where as its completely gone in the comics by the end-game). But we aren't there yet in the story so a lot of people do and will believe (at least till then) that Homelander is the big bad.

Cmon man, Teddy Bear is a cosmetic that only came out last year. I'm talking about the character, the backstory/personality, the powers they have, etc.. not a cute comedic cosmetic that just came out not too long ago. As for Trickster, a lot of people criticized him as well at launch, whether it was for his throwing knives or the color scheme being too vibrant. It wasn't like Trickster came out and everyone only had nice things to say.

IDK man, I just don't see him fitting in. How is he going to chase people? Just like every other killer, when he can fly at near supersonic speed? A pallet's going to stop him? It just …seems odd and silly.

There's so many better choices to pick from IMO.

  • Now THIS I can get behind. Goated movie.

  • @LordGlint said:

This actually made me giggle. Wesker, who is a...lemme check my notes here..."a guy who got superhuman powers from a shady pharmaceutical company with plans for world control" fits in DBD. Homelander however is SUPER different. He's a -flips through notes- "guy who got superhuman powers from a shady pharmaceutical company with plans for world control." It's different because one company made things with tentacles while the other company...oh wait...also made things with tentacles.

Seriously, the only really difference between these is the color scheme, and DBD has already shown it doesn't mind having killers that ARNT dark colored monstrosities. Just look at Trickster for an example of that. This isn't even taking cosmetics into consideration like Naughty Bear.

While Wesker started as a human character, his actions and transformations throughout the series blur the lines between humanity and monstrosity. He can no longer be considered fully human, as his physical and biological makeup have been significantly altered by the Uroboros virus and his own experiments. His humanity is compromised, and he exists in a gray area between human and monster.

Show me a scene from either the comics or the show with Homelander using these 'tentacles'. Oh wait..

Homelander is like someone else stated, just an insecure egocentric bully who happens to fly. An evil superman w/ dumbed down powers (Superman would kick his butt). He's already in MK, he fits into a fighting game much more than a 'horror' genre like this.

And Trickster is an OG killer, its a lot harder to criticize a character w/ no base to draw from (and even then, he was criticized quite a bit @ launch).

  • Honestly, the times I've been salty are 99.5% directed at my teammates. If you play solo que exclusively, you'll understand this.

Where as when I'm killer, I SEE a lot of the survivors doing dumb things and I just shake my head, knowing I don't have to worry about them giving me a loss.

  • @Backmon said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3805167#Comment_3805167

We have Wesker who also doesnt fit Dbd (unlike nemesis) and whos at basic very similar to homelander

Wesker fits 100x more. He's dark, he belongs to RE, and actually has 'monster-like' powers.

    • Uroboros Virus: A virus developed by TRICELL. If Wesker uses an unusually large amount of Uroboros, he will turn into a monstrosity. It increases his strength and durability, as well as granting him a few new abilities.
      • Body Manipulation: Wesker extends his limbs as if they were tentacles, spin the metallic pieces on his arms fast enough to use them as a drill.
      • Tendrils: Can fire his tendrils, which absorb energy from their victims. He can also spin his tendrils fast enough to create tornadoes.

Homelander's just some guy that was brought up in a lab and bio-engineered by a company for their own gain, who happened to turn evil. + he can fly. It makes no sense adding him in. Especially when were still missing iconic characters like Jason, The Thing, IT, etc.

  • Meh, not really. Yea he's evil, but thats it. Doesn't really fit the whole DbD theme.

Doesn't really make sense having him somehow be swallowed up by the Entity and put into its realm. It'd just feel weird.

  • It 100% should be. But no it isn't.

Also, reporting does almost nothing unless you got actual proof like a video to go along with it. Which almost no casual or average person will have ready or even be using any external program to capture it. Most people just load up and play. All that is captured by BHVR when you file an in-game report is the pre-game lobby chat and end-game lobby chat. Whatever happens in the actual match is lost to the void. The report system is absolute hot garbage.

  • Cause its inconsistent and unfair + lots of people running tracking killers which takes even more fun out of the match. Or they're playing Dredge.

  • @JPLongstreet said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3803701#Comment_3803701

It's not just parts of the community against comms being added in. The devs have said repeatedly over the years the have no plans to add it in for a couple of reasons, although I don't really agree with them myself.

First is the language barriers around the globe. This reason has a small amount of merit, but so many other games have made it work anyway. Then there's the prevalence of various comms already available on most platforms, such as Discord and the built-in chats on most of the consoles.

Imo they simply don't want the additional burden of having to police and moderate comms within the game itself.

Yea and no one's really surprised by it. They don't even police their in-game reports unless you have proof of someone hacking, cheating/exploiting or using truly abusive behavior. They put the responsibility on the player reporting, so if something does happen, you need to be recording it. And most people don't record their matches or have anything set up for that.

Their report system is a complete joke, it only tracks pre-game lobby chat and end-game lobby chat. Anything that happens in the actual match isn't captured UNLESS you so happen to be recording it yourself. Which like I said, almost no average player does that.

If they can't even do a report system properly (its pretty sad since this game came out years ago) and they JUST started introducing other game modes to the game, I have absolutely 0 faith in them pulling off voice comms. I know BHVR will never add it, sadly.

But thats what they should do if they ever want to help solo que players. Truly.

  • Nerfing SWF, not so much. Bringing solo que players up to SWF levels or enabling them to be much stronger is definitely possible.

People just don't want to add the 1 thing that will help and thats voice comms.

This community is incredibly against it (cause they fear the toxicity) however every MP game has it enabled, whether its LoL, Valorant, R6S, or even OW2.

Hell, OW2 even lets you know right when you load into a new match that your 'voice chat might be recorded in case of toxic or abusive behavior'. R6S literally has a commendation system built in now so the more toxic you are, the harder it is to get into matches, you get heavier punishments/timeouts, can't play ranked mode, etc. LoL has a hard stance on it too, where if enough people report you for being toxic or abusive in chat, you'll be banned temporarily for 14+ days. 14 being minimum.

Voice chat doesn't even have to be a mandatory thing, it can be completely optional if you want to try and communicate with your team or not (cause you're introverted as heck or just don't want to take the chance of talking to someone whose toxic). Just like in almost every other game. Make it completely optional.

Everything else added is just a lil bandaid fix and that bandaid wears out fast and falls off.

And the sad thing is, there has never even been a test for it. No one has any idea besides their assumptions. And ofc its easy to run with that idea cause you'll believe the bad outweighs the good but if done right, it can definitely be an addition and not a detriment.

BHVR isn't the type of company to do this though. So SWF will reign supreme till the end.

Also no one should be FORCED to play or make 'friends' on the DbD discord. Saying 'oh just play with friends or find a group to play with' isn't a good suggestion. I like solo que b/c I like the idea of loading into a match with 3 strangers and trying to make it out together. I've played in an SWF before and it was not fun. There was almost no challenge, unless we ran into some hella sweaty Nurse or Blight (back then).

So yea, no voice comms - SWF stays ahead easily. Its the one thing I am always in favor for, despite this community saying they don't want it.

  • @Xernoton said:

I'll be honest, I kind of forgot that was a thing. I might have wishlisted it otherwise.

Will second this. Completely forgot about it.

  • Freddy is one of my favorite killers in terms of lore & movies (loved him in Freddy vs Jason) b/c he likes to toy and play around with his victims before he slaughters them & the fiery effect behind him really drives that home. Sadistic and I LOVE IT, hehe.

"Oh no! The hard mode is hard and I don't enjoy hard things."

Then do not play it. Problem solved. Nobody has a gun to your head, dude.

There is no real challenge in SoloQ when four slowdown Nurse exists.

Are you OK dude? Seems you just want to argue or attack.

I answered the OP's question and you came in here like a hothead. If your reading comprehension is this bad, I guess go with your rationale.

  • @GonnaBlameTheMovies said:

The point of the mode is it's harder for Survivor and even a bit unfair.

Some people want that challenge. You clearly do not. So don't play the mode, then. It's over in two days anyway.

You just said it yourself, its unfair. The point stands. It has nothing to do with difficulty, if it was fair for both sides, people would still play it. It is not fun b/c it is not fair. 1 side has a lot more going for it (just like in 1.0). And yes, ofc some people still play it. I never said not to. I'm listing reasons why a lot of people probably aren't playing it, thats all.

I'd rather get a real challenge in solo que where things are a bit more tolerable, instead of playing a game mode where killer reigns supreme majority of the time due to the game mode.

And don't worry, I won't play this game mode. B/c again, its bad and unfair/inconsistent.

  • Not the problem at all. Inconsistency/unfairness factor is. And that takes away the fun, even when you do escape. Doesn't feel rewarding.

  • Reasons (IMO):

    1. Lots of players playing killers that track easily. Tracking is too strong in this game mode and goes against the whole idea of playing in the dark. Legion, Myers, etc.
    2. Not seeing where you're going is not fun. Especially against Dredge.
    3. Dredge players. Don't really gotta expand on this.
    4. Everything hidden on UI, no indication of anything. Not even EGC timer. Awful decision.
    5. Certain killers like Sadako & Alien require you to drop your candles to interact with their TV/Turrets, which makes it pretty problematic when they find you and you have no way of knowing where you're running b/c you had to ditch your candle.
    6. Survivors don't know where all the gens are so 3 gening is incredibly more likely to happen. While killers get to see exactly where every gen is (they should not be able to see these gens in a LIGHTS OUT mode, IMO).
    7. The same BS that happens in regular solo que/quickplay but now with more disadvantages on survivor side. Why would anyone want to put themselves through that more than they need to? Grab the rewards and go back to quickplay.
    8. Lot of killers (almost all) can get within range of you before you know they're even around and it almost always results in a free hit, which just feels slimy b/c you have no chance of making it to a pallet or window to save yourself.

Just a few reasons off the top of my head.

  • And they will say NO to all your refund requests. They aren't obligated to give you your money back.

If I had your reasoning, I'd request refunds on a lot of characters I bought solely for their perks, only for those perks to be thrown into the gutter cause 'too strong/OP'. Doesn't work like that, my man. You bought a character, you knew changes could make it stronger or weaker. You got the latter and now have to deal with it, just like all of us.

  • This is an overall W from devs. Very good news.

If you enjoyed her or mained her, thats on you. She's by far one if not the most boring killer to face. I don't feel bad at all.

Hopefully she never gets reworked or revived from this state and she disappears into the void. Awful killer design.

  • Don't sweat it man.

I just had a match against Dredge on Ormon, and he got 3 hooks before our first gen (granted, in LIGHTS OUT mode). Not only that, the 3 teammates just kept going for saves, without healing. Going down in 10 second chases, impossible to build any pressure. I ended up doing 2 gens, went for a save but was beaten by the people trying to farm altruism (I guess for the challenge). Ended up letting them all die after 2 of them were hooked and Dredge found the 3rd one. No point going down w/ the sinking ship, if I can help it.

I waited for the Dredge at 1 gate, knowing the other didn't have any lockers around he could TP to. Timed it well and got out.

1 of the teammates actually had the audacity to criticize me, saying all I did was hide in the corner of the map. I only started to hide after I had already given up and the team was dead. Before that I was on gen duty, b/c no one else was doing them. And no one was letting me take pressure or go for saves.

Some people just don't use their brain.

Although I will say, the worst is when you do everything for your team, whether its bodyblock, take hits, do gens, saves, heal, etc. You get first hooked, and your 3 teammates just leave right away.

1 2 3 4 5 … 25
