#15 and 16 are definitely the most interesting to me just b/c of The Entity. Didn't know about the theory of Nea, might have to look that up later tonight. Cool list overall!
-
I want what you're smokin.
-
I'd assume a handful of reasons but if I had to bet, the largest group of people leaving or taking a break are from solo que.
-
Thank you, again!
-
100%. I think a lot of people just don't have situational awareness. They don't know what they need to be doing in a given situation sometimes & its very frustrating cause those scenarios often cost the team the match. Then mix in all the sore losers and people who suck in chase, go down in 10-20 seconds, then rage on hook demanding a quick save or they kill themselves. Then there's the D/Cs. And you can't control any of it, if one person decides to throw, snowball the match, or just genuinely doesn't know what to do in a situation, you're basically screwed. 1 teammate not playing to win or not knowing how to win changes so much. Nevermind 2 or 3 of those types of players, lol. Solo que is hella painful for sure.
-
I'm sorry but if you're struggling with your killer matches, all I can & will say is keep practicing (not trying to be rude). Killer is the EASIEST its been in a very very long time (besides pre nerf Eruption). Good luck! :)

Are you seriously blaming other survivors for not picking Distortion? Really?
And you also just admitted that you picked lone wolf perks, because (before the game even starts), you wanted to escape not as a team. Do you know how many people use those perks, excessively hide all match, and just watch their teammates die? Because to them, it's more efficient to be the last survivor, by any means possible, so they can use their lone wolf build?
Are you seriously blaming Distortion users for picking Distortion? Really? I don't blame anyone for running or not running a perk (thats what this thread is trying to do, just using some of your thinkin against you haha. All in jest). I'll leave that to you and Fussy. However, aura reading is brought in almost every match. So its not a surprise if people decide to start bringing it, yea? Just like when people brought DS and still bring it to this day, with OTR. Would you be surprised?
I never said that. No I want to escape as a team, the more the merrier. I never said I didn't want my team to escape. If you bothered to read, I said IF the situation ever came to it. It was for one situation. When everyone DIED. I still played the match out, still did everything a normal player is expected to do. Gonna ignore the fact that those perks don't even come into play besides Fixated THROUGHOUT the match, as well huh? If I get forced into a situation like that, should I not be able to use the perks that are specifically for those situations? Everyone else is dead. The match is more or less over. Whats the big problem if I end up powering my gate and leaving?
& yes, all I play is solo que & killer. Got 2k hours in solo que alone. So believe me, I know what you are talking about. I see my teammates and what they do. But not everyone plays like that with those perks. I know matches like what you're describing happen, cause they happen to me too. But the difference between me and you is you want to nerf the perks b/c of these players using them in this lone wolf playstyle but its not that easy or straightforward.. I gave you a perfect example of perks not telling the full picture and you still didn't understand my point. I even said you wouldn't know I was even running that build till the end. B/c I play aggressive/risky regardless.

I think many people have been complaining to BHVR to help close the gap between solo q and SWF.
Part of this bridging process involved survivor buffs like the Survivor HUD. It makes sense that some of the bridging process could involve nerfs to problematic survivor behavior. Do people really expect the bridging process to be 100% survivor buffs, or 100% killer nerfs? Really?
People are so quick to demand nerfs for killer strategies.... but when the topic is survivor strategies it's "oh no, we shouldn't do that"?
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3645557#Comment_3645557
Opinions don't need to last forever. BHVR can change their minds, and say "hey, we told everyone the gap between solo q and SWF is mostly solo q not working together as much, so we're going to throws some nerfs to lone wolf, to help out solo q"
Solo q would be better off if lone wolf was nerfed. Survivors should feel like a team, and it's really difficult to feel like a team, when one of the survivors has decided (even before the game has started) that they don't want to be a team player.
Although I agree with your endpoint (survivor should feel like a team), its also incredibly hard to nerf the 'lone wolf' playstyle since perks don't say the full story.
For example, I used to run Sole Survivor, Wake Up, Adrenaline & Fixated. Most people would look at that build and assume I was a stealthy player, didn't care about my team, etc. But the reason I really started running it is b/c back then, I was repeatedly the last or 2nd last survivor remaining and I wanted to give myself an actual chance of getting out (not by hatch), in a situation I'd otherwise be guaranteed dead in. I still played the match out as I always do, doing gens, going for saves, taking protection hits or bodyblocking the killer in chase if needed, etc. The build was for 1 situation IF it came to that. Otherwise I played completely normally and you wouldn't even know I was running it till in spectator or end-game lobby.
The same way, a lot of people don't use Distortion to JUST hide. They just want to mitigate the aura reading. And that isn't on them, if the other teammates aren't running Distortion. With how much aura reading there is today & how often its brought into matches, people are more to blame if anything for not running Distortion, than the other way around.
And as for the whole 'nerf killer strats' but ignore 'survivor strats'..I mean one strat essentially kills your team. The other rewards you with a ton of pressure & a W. Both scenarios, the killer gets reward from. I'm all for doing something to deter that lone wolf playstyle. I want survivors to play like a team & not have 1 person hiding out or doing nothing but totems and divebombing. We agree there. I just think tunneling is a far more important problem to address.

No, I asked a clear question, leave your whataboutism. We don't talk about tunneling by itself now.
In your opinion, should i just ignore survivor that i saw with my perk (which i bring into the match to find survivors) and go find other survivors which decided to hide whole game?
Whataboutism is what you're doing, friend. Bringing up Distortion when tunneling is the main point of problem. Always has been. You trying to attach blame to Distortion b/c you can't see them is not a reason for why you tunnel. You'd tunnel regardless. You tunnel no matter what, I mean those are your words. I didn't say that, you did.
...You're proving my point. If you have no incentive to do anything besides camp and tunnel, why would you? Lets go through some scenarios.
- If 2 people have Distortion, and 2 people don't. Guess what, you're just going to tunnel out/focus on those 2 survivors who aren't running Distortion and can be easily found.
- If 4 people run Distortion, you'll still tunnel b/c it rewards you too much and gives you a ton of pressure. Nothing changes, you will still tunnel. Tunneling is the root problem. If you were punished for it, you'd have no reason to do it (b/c you want to win) and hence, you'd be going out patrolling a lot more & likely find the other survivors.
- If no one has Distortion, you will still tunnel & proxy. B/c it is too strong & making the game a 1v3 from a 1v4 is huge pressure on the survivors.
You're trying to paint Distortion players as this huge inconvenience to their team when in reality IMO I just think you're using it as an excuse cause you dislike the fact that aura reading can be countered by 1 perk. Whether its in a match or not doesn't change the strategy you use to win. B/c you know, I know - tunneling is 1, if not the best ways to ensure a win. But it isn't healthy.
Why is your focus on Distortion and not the fact that you'll tunnel regardless of the situation or perks being used? This thread was never about Distortion (maybe it was to you cause you wanted to blame people for using it).
-
Others have pointed this out, you aren't forced to tunnel. No one is making that decision for you. A perk isn't making that decision for you. You are choosing to do so because it is a valid strategy and its effective. Whether they have the perk or not, you will tunnel. You said this yourself. No matter what. So why does this have anything to do with Distortion?
If aura reading was completely removed, Distortion wouldn't be run and you'd have to go looking for people regardless OR tunnel the people you have already found.
If Distortion becomes as popular as WoO, then 4 people running it will nullify your aura reading which will then make finding survivors a killer responsibility (which it should be), but guess what. You will likely still camp and tunnel that 1 person you find first b/c tunneling is one of the best strategies to use to gain pressure & you won't be able to rely on aura reading. That is why tunneling is the culprit, not Distortion or the lack of Distortions. 4 people can bring Distortion and the killer will still tunnel. B/c that strategy is still incentivized/rewarded.
Blaming a perk for a strategy you will use regardless, is never the right approach. It makes you come across disingenuous, biased & with a hidden agenda. Like a lot of people who defended pre-nerf Eruption when it was crystal clear they just wanted to have a perk that was crazy busted & OP. Hard to take seriously.
-
You will tunnel regardless, you just said? So then you either tunnel the distortion user if you find them or the others.
I understand your thread perfectly fine. You are scapegoating Distortion and using the excuse 'i cant see them so i have to tunnel the others' as your rationale. But you just said you'd tunnel no matter what, which is my point. People play how they want to, regardless of the perks. I am not responsible for my other solo Q teammates b/c they don't want to run Distortion, going down in 10-20s chases, refuse to leave 1 side of a map, etc..People do dumb things, that isn't on the Distortion user to fix. I am also not responsible for running at a killer to get their attention (although sometimes I have to, ofc). If my other 3 teammates want to throw a match and do that, go for it. Hell, IDEK how many matches I've had where I don't run Distortion, I run full chase build, and I HAVE TO sit on a gen or else my team loses 100%. And guess what, no patrol or check on the gen. Killer is solely focused on the others.
Distortion isn't the problem, tunneling is. Punish tunneling severely to the point it gives killers no power, less movement speed, BP/score penalties. No slaps on the wrist. A system where if you do tunnel, you lose 99% of the time.
-
This thread is great promotion for Distortion & people to start running it. People will play how they want regardless of perk. If you want to tunnel b/c you think its the best way to win, then you will. The same way, if you don't care to do that or win like that, you won't.
Distortion is great for the aura-reading and information. If my other 3 teammates are going down in 10-20 second long chases & not doing gens, that isnt on me. Someone has to do gens to give their team a chance of escape. Same applies when the team snowballs the match by staying on 1 side of the map, using up all the pallets & turning it into a deadzone, b/c they didn't realize thats what the killer was intentionally doing.
People are just reliant on aura reading to do any finding, which is fine. But don't scapegoat Distortion cause you don't like the fact someone can counter your aura reading. Thats really what this thread is about, IMO. Just being upset that 1 person can counter your aura reading perks and you use the disguise of 'well you hurt your teammates' as an excuse.
Lets promote Distortion, then. Lets get it into the tip top meta and have everyone start running it. You won't have a problem with it, then right?
-
Its pretty bad, yea. There's the tunneling or the fact that being on a gen when a killer approaches is basically a guaranteed health state a lot of times b/c you have no time to go anywhere. Then you got people running Legion to nullify the lights out and help them find people easily.
-
Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Hadn't looked forward to a game in this genre for a long time.
Was a huge fan & supporter of the game. Played the tech test, reported bugs & just looked forward to the game with excitement.
That excitement lasted about a week, if that. Between the horrible decisions they made (splitting playerbase cause they released the game w/ no anti-hack measures, made lobbies take 5 minutes to start, matches would start with 3v3 to try to curb lobby/character dodging, etc), the blatant greed, the unprofessionalism from the the devs in critique & feedback (arguing with redditors or people on twitter), blaming the players, etc..no big surprise so many people quit playing it.
TCM was just another game that came out too early, too fast, by a team of people who were not competent & destroyed a lot of credit/reputation their loyal customers once had for them (cough cough Blizz Entertainment).
-
Same stance as Nazzak. Doesn't bug me, haven't given them a cent for a long time & will continue not to, as long as real issues are ignored or put off for years.
-
RE made sense b/c they have a lot of different monsters/enemies in that storyline..& we are still missing Mr. X.
NoES can't do it b/c there is only 1 big bad & he's already been released. Hope the rework comes sooner & doesn't take another few years.
-
Probably a test run. However I do agree, 'splitting the playerbase' isn't a problem & hasn't been for years. Hopefully the game mode is successful & if it is, maybe they'll extend it or bring it back more often.
-
I don't believe you.
-
Disagree..Its a diceroll every time. At night, its even worse. Over 2000 hours alone in solo que, can easily say it has not gotten better. Matches were better before MMR came about IMO.
Don't get me wrong, I have days too when the matches all feel better & I have quality teammates. But thats the anomaly, not the other way around.
-
Was never a fan of farming since it just prolongs the match & its all just for an inflated score you really didn't deserve. The most I'll do is give hatch, if it was a complete stomp at 4-5 gens. Otherwise I'll just play it out till everyone's dead.
-
The only problem I have, which is IMO the only real problem with him - his missed hit cooldown addons need addressing.
Besides that, love the pressure he puts on in chase. His curving is fine, his speed is fine, his mobility is fine. I've realized a lot of people are just not good in chase..and thats where Billy excels. If your whole team is going down at the start of a match, thats not a killer problem. If you're still going down within the first 5-10 seconds of a chase starting with him, thats a you problem.
Just nerf his cooldown addons and see how it goes from there. I'd start there. Nothing crazy.
-
I still like facing him. Probably even more now b/c the chases with him are very high-pressure. He's always right on your tail. His missed hit cooldown addons can be nerfed but besides that, I think he's completely fine. IMO people are overreacting and/or not used to the pressure he puts down in chases so they go down fast.
-
Well yea..you're not playing Huntress. You trying to snipe someone with a tail attack? If you're missing consistently with the tail, don't you think you should be punished? Its completely your fault in the first place if you are missing with it. No buff needed. Just practice more.
-
I really hope he stays popular & strong. He's one of the most fun killers to get in chase with/fun to play as & he puts a ton of pressure on the survivor in chase. Besides adjusting his missed hit cooldown w/ the addons, I think he's in a great place.
I can never look at Billy like Wesker or Chucky when it comes to being overplayed. He's been so unpopular for so long, I'll take him 10 times in a row and not mind one bit.
-
Not really IMO. Sure toxicity exists but it exists in other games as well. This is nothing special to me. I was around back in the day when people were screaming the N word and constantly cussing in CoD pre-match lobbies.
LoL, R6S, Valorant, OW, CoD, and the list goes on. So many games are far worse. Try any game that even has a competitive factor to it. Not only do you have competitive players who get frustrated, but then add in other types of players like memers or trolls or people who just want to get a rise out of somebody & ruin their session.
Been playing DbD since 2017 and can easily say its not even close to some other gaming communities. A lot of people are just very easily offended today. This is heavily subjective though since we all have different experiences.

Yeah, i had brought that up but she told me "well if i had DS or OTR you still woulda been hit by that wouldnt you?" I guess using DS and OTR as the measure for what tunneling is? Which yeah they wouldn't have been deactivated since she hadnt touched a gen or healed anyone. But im not so sure they are the end all be all of "punishing tunneling" since ive hit a OTR after hooking 3 other people before.
The 'what if' scenario can just keep goin..you counter their point and they just go onto another 'what if'. Some of the worst people to go back n forth with since they will never own up to making a mistake. She could have saved herself just by going to a safer spot. No one forced her to stick around in a 'hot'/patrolled area. If she wants to play the blame game, its on her mates as well as herself.
She got hooked, then Jake got hooked as she got unhooked..so either someone was very slow in saving her or Jake went down incredibly fast and gave you more pressure. You could have chosen right here to go back to Meg but you decided on Steve and downed him fast as well, to the point that Meg & Cheryl were STILL healing, and not only that, but in an area you'd find them in/oatrol in.
The problem here was efficiency. They all seemed to be at fault, whether for their horrible chases or decision making.
-
No, that isn't tunneling. She had a chance to go somewhere safe & heal. She chose to stay nearby around an area you'd patrol & likely find her. Its entirely her & the Cheryl's fault.
Tunneling means focus targeting that 1 person whenever possible, to get rid of them as soon as possible. If you were tunneling her, you'd have gone right back to the hook when she was saved and gotten in chase with her immediately. You didn't do that, you gave her a chance. She squandered it.
-
I genuinely don't remember a time when I brought the 'no skill check' addon. I even forgot the name, lol.
Always go for them, you'll mess up from time to time but once you get the timing and consistency down, you'll never look back.
Pre-nerf Ruin was great practice for this as well.
-
As a killer, I don't dodge. I don't really care about your username, what items you're bringing, whether or not you're a coordinated 'want to win' SWF or just playing with friends and wanting to hang out, etc. I like challenges and tougher games = more experience and better way of learning. Plus I actually have to pay attention.
As survivor:
- if Michaela is on my team, dodge. Worst teammates to have in my experience so I just made it my lil rule to avoid them at all costs.
- if I get put on a team with someone I played with before (who wasn't a good teammate), dodge.
-
Yea...IDK. His basekit is fine to me. Bouncing wrecking pinball. I hope they don't remove that power or rework him entirely. His problem has always been the addons IMO.
-
If you want information that'll help you in chase & avoid dead zones (one, if not the best for solo Q IMO), I'd recommend Kate because she has Windows of Opportunity.
-
Oh for sure! Played the PTB for 4 days and I went against nothing but Blights and Hillbillys (guess not many people care bout Sadako or I just got unlucky). Hillbilly is crazy good right now, especially in experienced player's hands. Some of the curves I got hit with...were insane. To the point I commended and gave props at the end-game lobby to the killer. Some of the curves were so quick b/c of the overdrive on certain tiles, that even standing next to a pallet, ready to drop..was not safe.
People are in for a big surprise who didn't get to see him on the PTB. Easily A tier IMO now.
-
Its not bad, but its far from great or an improvement.
Like others said, more clicking. More tedious.
-
I'm excited as well since he's one of the most fun killers to interact with in chase.
& I bet a lot of people are going to want to learn/play him more now (including me). Happy for all the Billy mains!
-
Classic BHVR.
Haven't had time to boot up and check everything out yet.
But I too, will be running this so it gets changed ASAP. Only way to push change down their throats is by making the game, apparently unbearable for the other side.
-
I would have killed both. In my experience, Mikaela's are AWFUL and usually the most selfish/worst players to have on a team. If I'm on a team with someone and they aren't doing gens at all, yea that'd frustrate me too because I want to win or try to. I don't have the whole context but when were they in the basement fooling around? 3 gens? 5 gens? Did you personally see Mikaela ever on a gen (since you suspect thats why Ada was trying to grief her)?
On the flip side of what Aven said, there are also so many matches where its still winnable but someone decides to temper tantrum and give up early. Hell, people will do that after being first hooked despite 3 gens flying by as well, nevermind at the beginning of a match. I don't think you did anything wrong, Mikaela was doing nothing to help her team & basically just wasting everyone else's time.
-
Thanks!
-
I had a match yesterday on RPD against Plague and I didn't realize till near the very end, that she had basically stopped moving. Powered gens and started running to the back-gate & Nancy, Bill were following me to try to grief. I was going to get there first and the Steve teleported himself right to the gate and just stood there, then Bill & and Nancy both stood there as well and they just turned their cameras so they were staring at me, lol. As the killer approached, the Nancy and Bill tried to bodyblock grief me from moving and leaving, thankfully the Plague didnt care for the match anymore and just wanted us to leave. IDK if the Nancy and Bill were with the hacking Steve but it seemed very coordinated, like they told him.
-
Huntress & Blight, followed by Billy. Everyone loves Billy!
-
Aven already said it but this shouldn't be on the watch list. It should be addressed immediately b/c people are going to use the hell out of it and make matches even more unbearable.
Hopefully the nerf comes quick.
-
On the contrary, I'd like to volunteer Artist & Skull Merchant to join Knight in the shadow realm.
-
You got this! Just power all 5 gens and you're outta there.
-
1000% killer sided. You don't need to do much analyzing or debating about this.
Winstreaks = killers. People are able to hit the triple or even 4 digit numbers in streaks whereas this is something that is basically null & void as survivor, unless you're on a team like Eternal. It just doesn't happen. Because pugs are luck of the draw & its incredibly rare for all 4 teammates to be on the same skill level.
Even watching someone like Hexy, he was winning 95% of his matches as Hit n Run Wraith. He was a vocal advocate of nerfing killers because he found it too easy.
Tru3talent also months ago, did a challenge where he took viewer builds and tried to do winstreaks with those builds. This was at the same time Otz was doing the challenge. I didn't watch the entire thing but he got to a 33 winstreak...using random builds given to him by his chatters. Thats either saying he's very good or that despite the build he was given, solo que and pugging in a nutshell, is easy stomping grounds for killers.
People love to pat themselves on the back when they win but they have the self awareness of a potato when it comes to analyzing their own mistakes for a loss. Most people who play killer & complain about survivors are just getting ego checked, they aren't as good as they think they are. Both sides can make mistakes. But for some reason, when lots of killers make mistakes and cost themselves a match, they just throw blame at the survivor team. And that is EGO.
-
Oh this is too relatable, lol. I've got thousands of hours and this seems very normal in solo que.
Really frustrating, makes you question your teammate quality, if you're the only one with a brain, etc. You're set up to lose.
'carry a team' is an understatement..so you're responsible for majority of gens, or all of them, getting into lengthy chases if the killer even decides to indulge you, and having to rely on your other teammates who you are 'carrying' to not go down repeatedly within seconds or divebomb hooks, etc.
Hella high task. Probably like a 95-5% success rate, if that. I would say its pretty much near impossible to win w/ a team like this, as long as the killer isn't downright bad or decides to relax/let up in trying.
-
@humanbeing1704 said:
People do this?
even if I’m doing adept I’m not that desperate for a 4k Jesus Christ
Yes people do this..It sucks. Especially more when the teammate you did nothing to, decides to cooperate with the killer.
And then you're the enemy/douche to them because you didn't run at them and give them that final kill. And guess what, most of the time someone rats on another teammate, the killer just kills them right after anyways.
Its aweeeesome. /s
-
Its decent but not OP. Its moreso annoying than anything else. You have nothing that helps you in chase or end them quickly. Its all reliant on getting downs and hooks quickly so you can keep that slowdown pressure & people off gens. Good survivors will not play into your strategy. That said, solo que is luck of the draw & you'll probably face more people who aren't good in chase.
-
No. But like others, I don't get excited over new survivors. Especially when their perks are 'meh' or I don't see myself using them.
Bring some new game modes or preferably some rewards tied to playing well - then maybe!
-
Gonna be running this mod as much as possible b/c the current atmosphere of maps absolutely sucks & this brings the 'horror' element back. Glad they're doing this finally.
-
Absolutely not. Aside from the fact it looks more like Jake Gyllenhall or John Wick than it does Alan, I'm generally not a fan of the male character frames (only exception David) & his grunts of pain already irritated me on the PTB, lol. Can't see myself maining him even for a day.
-
I'd say 3, maybe 4 days of the week. 1-2 hours max per session. Don't play it like I used to.
