Any survivor who wants to remain undetected will remain undetected. The killer cannot find a survivor in a large map with tons of LoS blockers.

Both are being fixed with Collapse.

The point still stand the Killer can and still can interact and have a outcome. A Survivor body blocked in the stairs has no options anymore and can't do anything. That is flawed game play. As much as you want to argue you can simply never be near or hooked in the basement, one could easily point to Whisperers for the other issue. (Spies is still a hot mess right?)

Both needed fixed. One has, one hasn't.

it's not a free kill , the killer chased and downed someone and took them to the basement which means the survivor ran too close to the basement

and a killer on the stairs is absolutely not more exploitable than survivors refusing to leave, survivors chose to go into the basement and wait there as the terror radius approached... the killer had no choice in the survivors being able to just stealth around while the gates are open

No it's worse. Killers could always find, move, and attack. A Survivor in the basement is literally stuck. They have NO OPTIONS if the Killer choose to idle there. Despite the end game Survivors holding the game hostage situation... the Killer ALWAYS had potential to end the match. A Survivor being body blocked for the match is worse as they have no input for the match to end.

They fixed one. Fix the other.

Holding the game hostage means there's no way for the round to end unless someone disconnects. Collapse will prevent that, since if even three survivors are trapped in the basement, there's one that will be able to repair the generators and trigger the Collapse.

Just because you don't like the truth doesn't make it bait.

How is it at all fair or thrilling game play for someone to literally be body blocked for the match? Again people crouch in corners to make a Killer salty with no gain to themselves. People will also use the new end game to make Survivors salty as well.

It's wrong and needs addressed. Make a basement hatch that shoots you right outside the building but damages you in the Injured state. There's possible fixes.

The basement isn't free kills though. It's kills you're a) getting by capitalizing on a survivor going close to/into the most dangerous area of a map and b) if you're bodyblocking someone in there all game you're getting no points, no Emblems, and no other kills.

It is. Run Agitation and IG. Run the Territory perk. Hook anyone in there. At least one Kill. Hide nearby, maybe run Insidious if you're low mobility. Wait for another to go in. Walk and stand in stairs. You're done. People will do it. Hiding in a corner for 10 minutes after the gates are opened isn't point gathering or interesting. But people still do it.

If something was this broken dumb on the Survivor side, I'm sure it would of been changed by now. Unless you basement camp, this change wouldn't hurt you AT ALL.

  • Quoting is all messed up now, so I can'y quote.

@Orion The Basment shouldn't be free kills though. It can be dangerous and still would be. You shouldn't expect free kills just cause you hook or find someone there.

@incirion You really need to get better at Killer. You already told me the whole reason you're against this is cause it hurts you camping people in the basement cause of BT. Don't rely on basement camping and your skills will improve.

@Slayer More exploitable than a camo Claud UE in a corner with the gates open.

  • They are to a degree. Most of these changes are all for their complaints and griefs. They still pull the victim card out.

Bring up Killer exploits/unfair aspects and they defend it.

Got to remember though, this is just a small and very vocal group of Killer mains that are always upset. There's plenty of good ones, most of them aren't on here though.

Those two things have been fixed with the same solution. Now, survivors can no longer hold the game hostage not be held hostage themselves.

That's laughable. So the "fix" for Survivors is they'll die after all the Gens are done, exits are opened, and the timer runs out with the Killer idle in the stairs.

And the fix for the other side if Sacrifices/Free Kills for Survivors attempting to grief.

    Legit fairness.

With sprint survivos have no place to fear and its not enough for you. Basement bodyblock is intented.

You're saying Survivors need to run 1 perk to counter a exploitable mechanic that takes 0 input after putting one's butt on the stairs is good and intended? Also certain Killers can get back faster than a SB. Nurse and Mint Rag Hag say "Hi."

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/443115#Comment_443115

The basement is meant to be dangerous. Widening the stairs or any other such change would destroy that identity. For now, if people are holding the game hostage, you can report them. There's no need to butcher the game just for those edge cases.

It's still a one way in and out. Trapper, Leatherface, Myers, Huntress, Billy, and Hag would all still be highly dangerous there with OHKO's, Traps, and Hatchet/M1 in the narrow passage. It's not safe, it just wouldn't allow people to grief.

Not many Survivors hid in a corner of the map to troll the Killer. Not many Killers body block the stairs for long periods of time. But if one got fixed, the other should as well.

  • @ClogWench said:

Yeah it's not a hostage situation during the endgame. Just a slow execution.

But it's still wrong and horrible game play. All trolls have to do is run the basement aura perk and there is one free salty kill right there. Catch two in there trying for a rescue and you just killed half the team.

  • @Orion said:

The Collapse will stop hostage situations. Problem fixed.

But in what world is body blocking someone looting the chest in the basement at the start of the game for a troll sacrifice ever a good addition to the game?

    It needs fixed.

  • @BBQnDemogorgon said:

@meme Nah its not dying. Especially with all the hype around collapse and legion.

2.7 will be huge for DbD.

What hype for Legion? Most people, on both sides, seem to feel his rework is going to weaken his identity and make him bland. I guess hype for people hoping to not have to face him anymore, but that's actually kind of pitiful to think about.

Collapse is good hype till all the salt miners just body block someone in the basement for a free kill every match. (easy to score at least two trapped down there)

You're right, @VexTheHex. Nice name btw. And I'm not a 'biased survivor main' as you'd think, I'm a killer main. The only reason I have such a low problem with NOED is because I just think it's too meta and a bad bandaid for genrushing. I personally would rather see genrushing fixed, and then I'm happy. But this thread is not about genrushing, otherwise I wouldn't target NOED. I think the speed increase and instadowns are bad. But as you said, we'll see it in the PTB.

I use to "talk" with many of these people back on the Steam Forums. They are extremely bias Killer mains that will argue the sky blue and insult you on a dime's notice. I'm shocked they aren't banned on here already with the behavior they had on there, and i thought that was what this forum was supposed to clean up. I guess not. (To note, I didn't find anything too bad in this thread itself)

I have played a ton of both sides and mained Hag back during her Stun Teleport days. The game has only gotten drastically easier for Killers. There are still OP aspects of Survivors no doubt about it. But to pretend that Killers don't have their own OP aspects is delusional.

And since I know the Legion fiasco is going on right now. I'll say I think he needed reworked for sure, but I feel the rework they gave him looks very unpromising and will make him too weak and boring. He didn't deserve that type of gutting.

But you best well know me saying the basement stairs needs widened with this new end game time change will have me quickly labeled and hated for being a filthy Survivor player despite wanting Legion to be fixed, not broken down to rubble.

  • @Incirion said:

If a killer isn't running a tracking perk, then the survivor can urban evade around the map for an hour without getting caught. Does this make the killer bad? No. Because the survivor can literally hear the killer coming and go the other way, or hide in a locker. Survivors stall the game for absolutely no reason other than to BM the killer. That's what this collapse is for. Securing a kill is NOT toxic behavior. Stop thinking survivors deserve an escape, please.

Stop thinking a Killer shouldn't need to work for a kill. "If the Killer isn't running a tracking perk" after you gave me a list of perks and items one would need to counter the different basement camping strategy of different killers. But a Killer using a detection perk is too much?

A Hag can run to the opposite side of the map, have a trap at the top of the stairs, wait for the unhook, and apply her Mint Rag to teleport there. You want to give me a circumstance where I Survivor can hide all game, I can do it with Killers body blocking the stairs.

The only reason for someone to be mad about the basement stairs being widened is if they camp and use the stairs to body block. So you use it and know it works now. Now imagine there is a timer that will insta kill any Survivors trapped down there? Dumb and broken.

  • Wait for testing before calling for nerfs or buffs on anything really. We aren't fully sure how things will play out. But it is laughable how bias some posters are to even try to turn this new mechanic being a buff to Survivors. When the whole thing was basically made to stop toxic Survivors from stalling matches at the end and applied a pressure mechanic to leave.

  • @Incirion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/428757#Comment_428757

No. I'm literally not upset at all. You're the one who's upset that the basement isn't safe. And it isn't meant to be safe. It has never been meant to be safe. What happens if you go into the basement and the killer is Leatherface? Then you die anyway. If the killer wants to waste their time to kill you in the lamest way possible, then why should that be fixed? If the killer is face camping, do gens and leave. If the killer is staying close to the basement. Do gens and leave. It's so simple a 5 year old could figure it out. Please try to figure it out yourself.

The same logic could apply to none of this end game changes happening. "Don't like Survivors stalling the game" well find them and kill/chase them out. It's the killer's fault for not chasing and hitting them.

It's the same for the basement changes. It's needed to combat toxic behavior.

AKA - You have very clear bias for Killers. You even brought up how Killers have only been nerfed when both sides have ate many nerfs and buffs over the years... and several mistakes in terms of this. Killers have it A LOT easier than they use to. I use to play the Stun Hag as my main, please try again.

Sprint burst. Hide in a locker at the bottom of the stairs and use Head-On. And if they're using insidious, they didn't leave and it's not a safe unhook. If the nurse is still close enough to get there before you make it out of the basement, it's not a safe unhook. Billy will have to chainsaw back, take the stun for ending the chainsaw, then come inside the building where the basement is, to trap you there. Hag CAN teleport to her traps, but that's simple, just don't set them off. Flashlight. Urban Evasion. Legion's frenzy speed is slower than sprint burst, so don't act like he actually has mobility. An invisible wraith camping is not a safe unhook. Just because you don't hear a heart beat doesn't mean it's safe. Use premonition. Then you can be sure the killer is actually gone.

Bleh, dang approval of edit thing. None of my edits have came back.

Your advice falls flat as all those things can be countered with any thought process on the Killer's part or add-ons like Mint Rag. You're the one upset you can't body block the stairs to get free downs cause you're upset about BT. Take your own advice.

Oh yes, allow me to equip all of these perks at once.

Hag- If you don't have a Flashlight or UE, rescuing against the Hag will be slow enough for her to even hobble her way back. Mint Rag removes any counter play. Flashlight would alert her you're there actually. Bam, cover blown.

Billy- Chainsaw in a direction straight into the distance. Wait for rescue or wait for Territorial Imperative to activate. Chainsaw back.

Nurse- Haha, Nurse's mobility basically allows for basement camping far away. Nice try though. You won't know if she double blinked and is sitting there with it charged and waiting.

Insidious, Crouching Pig, invisible Wraith, etc.- Premonition won't help if they go far enough away and hide. Also means you HAVE TO RUN that perk, period.

I think you're the one that needs that advice if you genuinely think body blocking the stairs is good game play. It is abuse-able and the proposed changes will reward it. You're the one upset that you can't counter BT when you're camping someone in the basement.

  • @Incirion said:

Don't go for unsafe unhooks in the basement and you won't get body blocked down there. If you wait until the killer leaves you're guaranteed to escape.

Oh look I can do it too!

You're angry and just repeating something I already proven to be false. Nurse. Billy. Spirit. Wraith. Hag. Legion. Insidious. Monitor & Abuse. The Huntress basement aura perk. Easy ways to get back before they can escape the basement or to mask your presence. GG.

  • @Incirion said:

You don't get it @NoShinyPony He wants to make sure he has a completely safe trip to the basement so the "KILLER" cannot "KILL" him down there. He thinks he should always be guaranteed a safe unhook.

The basement is DANGEROUS. It's MEANT TO BE DANGEROUS. The stairs were designed to be narrow SO THE KILLER COULD BLOCK THEM.

    @NoShinyPony said:

@VexTheHex If a survivor gets downed in the basement before the timer starts, the other survs don't have to start the timer before they have rescued their teammate.

And if they can't rescue their teammate because Insidious Leatherface is waiting down there, it's just the normal basement play and nothing different from what we already have.

Seeing as this whole end game change hurts honest Survivors trying to do late game saves to end late game toxicity of bad Survivors makes me think changing the basement to allow people to push through would be of = importance. Both are nerfing something many won't exploit but it shouldn't of been possible to begin with.

The basement will still be dangerous. Don't camp and you won't have to worry about BT. Or go for the unhooker. You'll still get at least 1 hit as they scramble up the stairs.

  • @Incirion said:

The end game of Survivors is being made more timed/frantic to stop people from taunting the killer. This hurts late game rescues and plays to save each other from normal, honest players.

The basement will just have to bite it the same way. It'll still be dangerous and give a Killer at the top a free hit or multiple if he meets them part way down. It has to be adjusted for the health of the game.

  • @Incirion said:

The basement is supposed to be a dangerous place for survivors to go. There shouldn't be an easy way out. If they DO actually do anything to "fix" this issue of yours, I'll be horridly disappointed. Not because I personally want to use this exploit myself, but because I'm tired of seeing killer game play nerfed. I've already stopped playing killer because it's no longer fun to me. This would just be another nerf in the long list of nerfs that killers keep getting, until the game isn't fun for ANY killer.

Hate to tell you this, but there is a long list of nerfs and buffs to both sides. This whole end game thing hurts honest Survivors as well since any late game saves just got a lot rougher simply to hurt Survivors taunting and tea bagging around the map for giggles.

The basement will still be a one exit place. But it needs to be wider to allow the Survivor to push past simply cause people can and will more often now exploit body blocking the stairs. I get you're upset about BT being strong with this change, but none of it would matter if you weren't camping/in heartbeat range anyways. The perk is designed to hurt campers. It'll still just be doing it's job. Meanwhile an actual exploit that requires almost 0 input from the Killer will be fixed.

  • @Incirion said:

And they've done absolutely nothing to fix this issue. Because it isn't an issue. Because "If you're going to die, it's not holding the game hostage, it's securing a kill"

@VexTheHex A similar concept already exists: The Pig's activated RBTs. If the pig bodyblocks a survivor somewhere, the survivor will also die because of the exploding RBT.

So body blocking the basement when someone loots it at the start of the match or after a basement hook for 100% free kills should be allowed cause the RBT exploit already exists?

No. It needs fixed. Just as this whole thing is to stop Survivors abusing stuff at end game, the Basement will just have to bite a minor nerf to stop people from exploiting.

  • @Incirion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/428688#Comment_428688

@VexTheHex and in this situation you've described, the killer would leave the game with less than 10,000 blood points. Can you please tell me why this even sounds anything remotely like a good idea? If someone gets hooked in the basement, don't go to the basement when the killer is around. The end. Get over it.

You clearly don't pay attention to our community that loves to wack people on hooks, DC at anything they don't like, teabag at exits, and do anything to annoy the other side. This strategy will be used just as the old days of face camping existed. Players will exploit things and this isn't even remotely difficult to exploit.

Hag Mint Rag. Insidious. Wraith. Nurse/Billy mobility. Spirit/Legion lesser extent mobility.

It's an issue, I'm not "getting over it." If you're not looking into exploiting the issue, then you should have ZERO concerns with it being fixed. The end.

@VexTheHex I wonder what they'll do to stop the killer from body blocking basement.

Hopefully they do something. It'll be a pretty huge blow to the game play. Sadly the loudest players on the forums are Killer mains, so this issue will likely be swept under the rug. But this scenario is too easy to pull off and too toxic (?) to slide.

And to be clear, I'd overall excited for this mechanic and to see how it plays out. But this issue is pretty game breaking if it slides in.

  • You clearly aren't thinking it through. Run Iron Grasp or Agitation. Basement hook the first catch. If anyone goes for the save, stand in the stairs. Even if this is before any gens are done, you now get 2 free kills. They can't leave.

  • Interested in it overall minus the Killer body blocking the basement stairs being confirmed sacrifices aspect. They didn't think that one through.

Simply basement hook someone early game and body block the stairs when they are rescued. You now get 2 kills even if you stand there for the rest of the match. Poor design.

  • Has any thought been put into Killer's ability to body block the Basement with this change? Now the toxic behavior will be rewarded and promoted to be used. That is a glaring issue with this change. As an example, if I hook someone in the basement early game. I can simply rush to body block the stairs when someone goes for the rescue. I now have 2 Sacrifices if I just stand there for the rest of the game.

  • Nurse, that way she'll get the add on revaluation and hopefully lose her 3 blinks except for as the ultra rare. And no more 4-5 blinks. However, her more common ones should be less punishing on her. She has the old Hag problem of having too many negatives for anything positive.

  • @Skorpanio said:
I'd keep a inbuilt kindered as something like bbq.
So the auras show for some seconds 3-4 and then fade away after a short while (just like bbq)
I would not want to have the killer's aura shown sinse that would be pretty op.

Only against campers tho. So not really a bad thing. ;P

  • I think Killer aura would be a good thing, I don't think the Survivors auras should be shown since it'd likely help too much in terms of who goes for the save. The Killer aura would help lessen the solo/SWF gap while also punishing camping a bit more. Camping hurts Solo more than SWF since they don't know you're camping till they travel over there and multiple Survivors might travel over there. Meanwhile the SWF will just tell everyone to keep doing gens or say closest to me come, he/she is gone.

Yes, like 70% of killer perks. (And around the same for survivor perks)

This. It almost seems like they wanted every Killer and Survivor to have at least one complete trash tier in the dumpster perk. Prove Thyself, Third Seal, No Mither (hardmode perk should at least give bloodpoints, imho), Beasts of Prey, Left Behind, etc.

Leatherface was lucky, three good perks.

^ Good luck getting "special" gens done vs Billy with that build :)
Looking forward to this event allready, loved the Howling Grounds one it was so much fun.

Thanks for showcasing that the Killer side is just as, if not more petty than the Survivors. I recall Leatherface sitting at event gens as well as OHKO Huntresses. Sadly there is no perks to help deal with that.

And yes I dealt with bad apples on both sides, but I like how Killers pretend their side are innocent angels while also posting how they'll troll the other side.

If survivors wanna be trolls then we have every right to do so in retaliation.

If Killers want to troll, then we have every right to retaliate!

See the process of toxicity and BM that creates? So cause this group of Survivors sabo'd hooks, this other group of Survivors has to deal with me running OHKO Ebony Mori Huntress blocking the event gens.

Petty breeds petty. Try to be above it? Yes?

As long as we don't see any attempts to sabotage the event hooks we won't tryhard.

But the guy above expressed clear indications of trolling all Survivors after he meets his requirements on Killer side and denying the event token for them. Clearly you're blind to your own side's toxic behavior to not read that and see that the Killer side is just as disgusting as the Survivor side, but the truth is that there is more for a Killer to do to counter their hooks being sabo'd with Hangman's paired with IG and just having them slugged till it reforms if desperate. A Killer literally sitting on a Gen can deny it fully. He/she won't be killing anyone off, but they can stall out the game for a rather absurd amount of time if the Survivors want their tokens.

Also the Survivor side cosmetic is rather lame and uninspired compared to what the Killer's get. At least David's jacket had some wow factor to it to match the Huntress's wolf mask. This one just feels like simple recolor placed on hold. They could of at least gave her a swimsuit outfit.

I mean you really can't really make everyone agree to not do that unfortunately. I personally won't unless i have Sabo Squads trying to sabotage my hooks.

True. I'm just pointing out the Killer side is just as bad in these events. I remember getting sabo'd and getting gen rushed when trying to play it cool as Killer. I also remember MANY gen camping Nurses, Billys, Huntresses, and Leatherfaces. Hag will likely show up often this event cause she is a lot stronger.

Overall though, I remember more Survivors wanting to work together than bad groups. It's the same with regular play. The other night I had a group abusing the window glitch (they don't actually get blocked) to really stall out chases. Then they would body block and flashlight spam me when I did get someone. Painful times that make you think why you play this game. But most Survivors groups aren't that.

But always on the discussions it's a bunch of Killer mains calling it out like every Survivor is evil and mean to them while the Killers are all poor and desperate to just have fun.

Trying to stop survivors doing generators as the killer particularly the special ones for the event is neither petty or being a bad apple and has nothing to do with trolling.
I'll be going for any generator that is being worked on weather it's an event generator or not, regardless of that it will still be difficult to get event generators done (or any generator for that matter) vs Overcharge, PGTW and Ruin.
You make it sound like I'll be ignoring everything besides event generators and camping them which is NOT what I said.

"Good luck getting "special" gens done vs Billy with that build " - You.

So we are supposed to ignore our objectives as killers just because an event happens?

So Sabotaging the Event Hook is fair game to then? Huh? It's a Survivor's side objective that got gutted cause of the "unfun" game play it provided leaving only Gens for Survivors. So Killers should be happy Survivors decide to do optional side objective that buys the Killer more time?!?

You can twist both sides around. Either way, guarding the hook or the gen on either side is going to happen on both sides. And it's not cool to condemn one and act like the other is fine. ;)

I can wait 10 seconds for a hook respawn. Good luck attempting to destroy them all fast enough ;)

Yep, too bad Survivors don't get that luxury. ;P

They used to before Saboteur was nerfed because of survivors abusing it.

Ya I was around for the Sabotage Squads, but weren't they eliminated before the first "event hook" type deal? It's kind of pitiful that Sabotage fell as hard as it did since it actually did slow down matches to a degree as well with something that gave Survivors a reason to do it. You can do dull totems "in case of NOED" but that's only to prevent something and not really gain much. The Killers wanted Sabotage destroyed and got it (understandable), but this helped create the direction to Gen Rush cause Survivors really lack any motivation to do anything else but rush gens which leads to more camping/tunneling which leads to more looping cause getting caught might lead to Myers having his face in your crotch as you hang on the hook.

Overall though I'm read to face toxic scum of both sides trying to deny the event tokens. At least Killer side will be easier to cope with though since they been flooded with sabo counterplay. Meanwhile there is nothing you can do against a rev'd Leatherface on top of a gen.

I want that hammer for Billy though so here's what I'll do.

When I need the hammer by getting special hooks:
Hang Man's Trick - Agitation - Iron Grasp - Ruin

When I have earned enough to qualify for the hammer:
Overcharge - Pop Goes the Weasel - BBQ n Chilli - Ruin

  • Camping/Tunneling = GenRush/Looping. They all feed off each other and cause constant salt.

"Survivors are BROKEN, Gen rush is real. DEVS FIX IT."
"Well we Gen rushed cause you camped Dwight. There was nothing stopping us."
"Well he looped me. Am I supposed to want to chase him around again?"
"Maybe he played against you before and knew you'd camp him no matter what? Campers suck."
"I only Camp cause bad Survivors always gen rush."
"But we Gen Rushed cause you camped."

It's a lovely cycle. That being said, only bad Survivors loop and only bad Killers camp/tunnel unless it's needed in the situation... like if they are being tunneled/camped or gen rushed/looped. None can be fixed without the others being fixed to... so it probably will never happen.

  • A solution to this would also help in the rare situations Killers body block to hold the game hostage in the basement by adding a "push through" type interaction if running into a Killer for X amount of time. It'd still support body blocking a spot to score a hit, but it would stop people from hostage situations. The Pig's tactic is a bit more warranted as at least there is a clear ending to the situation, no matter how cheap it can feel.

To be fair, I have luckily never experienced this myself and feel it's a rather rare issue that only the more toxic people employ.

  • It was an annoying Perk and needed smacked to not be meta as it was extremely annoying to go against. In truth, the surprise non-obsession ones would get on my nerves more. I still ponder if making OoO a must for being the obsession would of been a better way to hit it. Want to run it? Then there's high risk for the reward.

  • I don't see how people can call Sabotage as bullying. Killers often complain about game speed being too fast at times (myself included on both sides) and yet call out Sabotage which has been severely nerfed and made obsolete as "BM" when it actually helps slow down the gameplay and provide some skillful and crutch plays. I been running it on Jake boi and it RARELY comes in handy, but it feels amazing when it does (like DH!!!) but then some Killers moan to me that I BM'd them by doing it.

Congrats on getting the 4k, flashlights are highly annoying especially for your IRL eyes. I skipped about but what exactly did Jake do? He had no items and didn't appear to run SB even. While frustrated it's easy to assume they are all a toxic SWF, but you could of been a bit too angry when you made that deduction.

The entitlement in this post is strong.

Says the guy that double pips but still wants a 4k. It's your ego that's keeping you from just hitting the guy to end the game.

So you’re saying let the last guy go because he’s the last guy? Just because I’ve already pipped/double pipped does not mean I’m going to be a nice Killer and let the last one escape for no good reason.

Remove Killer's grab from hatch ability but place a aura read on the last Survivor for the Killer. Now Survivor is about finding the hatch quickly and Killer is about catching the Survivor. Right now both just look for the hatch, and it's kind of a silly purpose on the Killer side... shouldn't he/she be hunting the Survivor and not the hatch? Add a constant or majority aura read going on to help the Killer out.

that wouldnt help the survivors or situation.

lets say the second last survivor gets hooked. then the killer simply camps that second last guy, because the moment the second last survivor dies, the killer gets an aura reading of the last survivor. that would be horrible, because the last survivor would quickly try and find the hatch to inevitably escape now that he has an aura around him, rather than actually trying to help the hooked survivor.

Hmm, true. Many Killers do often camp their 2nd to last catch though hoping the Survivor will go for the save anyways. They know they are winning at that point and the last Survivor can only do so much on his or her own by that point.

The Hatch is flawed, but the last Survivor or two do need motivation to not give up. Closing the hatch was good in theory, but it was very faulty as Killers have bigger map presence than Survivors and can find it faster and more likely during the match itself. The 3rd fix was also heavily flawed as it rewarded Survivors to just go camp the door and wait for the Killer to stomp the hatch shut.

Not sure if there really is a solution.

Oh my, I think I played against you the other day!!! Lery's and you were a built for basement camping Leatherface!!! You got Claudette and put here there, Dwight (?) then went for the save for the obvious Leatherface ending. Feng and me blew through 3 gens and you came after us. I snuck to the basement (not knowing you had Territorial) and well... ya all three of us down. You camped me (ofc, Leatherface quality play there) followed by me scoring a KOBE unhook. Redowned me. Searched the lockers for Feng... (LOL) and then left me slugged as you hunted Feng. You found the hatch... came back and hooked me. Then ran to the hatch as I died and guarded it as Feng walked up and you two began the stand off.

Ya, sorry. I think it was a tragedy that the hatch ruins your fun and engaging playstyle...

    me? i rarely play leatherface

Must be mistaken then, I did play with you as of late though. I recognize the name and have been grinding Jake boi to Prestige him. (rip my halloween goodies) I played like 4 matches the other day with 2 being a godly Hillbilly who was the same person, a Pig (prob you then), and that Leatherface match with the camp/hatch stand off. My bad, my story still indicates how some Killers use the hatch and create standoffs on their own accord as they hunt the hatch and stand on it. It really feels silly for that to be the goal of the Killers instead of getting the Survivor first.

So I still propose no "grab at hatch" interaction but Killer gets the Survivor's aura. Makes both sides more about the rush and getting their objective first rather than Killers sitting on the hatch.

  • Issue with camping is it's not fun or engaging for anyone involved. As much as Killer mains want to defend it, it's the most boring approach Killers can take. I have camped in losing matches or frustrating matches, but it's boring and skill less. More could be done to make being camped less of a chore.

"But Survivors have crutches/etc." - Yes, there is problematic balancing issues on Team Survivor that are annoying and OP. But ignoring bad game play on Team Killer just cause you're salty about the other side is bias, ignorant, and childish. Both sides have design flaws, accept it or accept that your viewpoint is heavily fogged up.

  • Oh my, I think I played against you the other day!!!
