Another potential change might be it only remains active until a survivor screams.
You open a locker and anyone in your terror radius will get hit and then the perk deactivates... but if not it follows you until it hits the first survivor who screams, then deactivates.
Does it cause survivors that are on hook to scream? I think it does, but not paid enough attention because I've been focusing on finding others. If it does, that actually solves a lot of the perks problems.
Yeah the thing I also noticed is even if lockers countered it (just like how they counter every other aura/scream perk except UW) once you're out of the locker since the perk is still active for a long time you're going to end up screaming LOL.

Then the killer chases that person. I do not have seen this perk for camping so far. It is a new, decent killer perk in a while now. If you are so bothered by it then equip Calm Spirit.
They made such a valid point and your only argument was "well then use calm spirit"... Really?... Yeah because we all know countering x problem with y perk has been such a healthy bandaid fix for the balance of this game for years...

UW makes any other aura/info perk obsolete. No reason to use any other tracking perk when I can just open lockers and know where everyone is immediately. Idk how they didn't see the problem LOL. So I'm open to any change, it doesn't mean the perk needs to be gutted but anything to make it less BS.

Leave them alone... you're forcing survivors to run nothing but mft adrenaline sprint burst...
If anything UW is problematic and calm spirit needs a buff to not make you handicapped when you run it...

Blocked gens have always been able to regress with perks such as Pain Res but they do not regress with passive regression - killers can't kick them, Hex Ruin doesn't work on them. It's the instant regression that works, that's by design and has always supposed to work in that way.
This was acknowledged as a bug before and was fixed for a while until it was broken again?

Yeah it kinda sucks that you can't combine basic pieces of her outfits just because...

Why are y'all getting this heated over hatch in 2023? There isn't much to discuss. It's a luck-based mechanic to bring closure to a match that is already over and it was deliberately designed to be this way.

Wouldn't make sense to call it "Ultimate Weapon" if it isn't S-tier, plus it helps M1 killers keep their heads above water and I'm thankful for anything that helps keep the weak killers viable.
Well in that logic the perk called Hex:No One Escapes Death should guarantee a 4k every match but some do escape death. 😭
-
@Mandy said:
Can confirm here, that this is a bug with Ultimate Weapon. Lockers are not intended to show auras or screams
It is meant to work on the terror radius so if you're within the terror radius or enter the terror radius you would scream, that part is working as intended.
Thank you laaawwwwddd. 💖
Btw the perk description just says entering terror radius. But you said within here and in-game if you're already in radius you scream immediately. It's kind of confusing.
Is it suppose to work as "open locker know where everyone is around you immediately" or "open locker and let your radius reveal others as you traverse the map"?

It was an annoying af bug but was nowhere near this one that can prevent people from getting hit at all. People would just stay in lockers because they can’t be hit there and wait for the killer to leave the game because they just can’t do anything about it if survivors refuse to finish the gens. It’s just nowhere close for comparison, and we all should be happy and glad they took action as fast as they did with Dredge and Wesker months ago.
Yeah I totally agree. This can even potentially hold the game hostage. I just wish the way they used killswitch was more consistent though. It's either "we will killswitch this immediately" or "just deal with it until next patch lol".
-
@adaw0ng said:
Why does everything and anything have to become a “Us vs Them” argument or debate?
The MS bug was damn annoying but wasn’t game breaking like the flashlight + locker is. Wesker and Dredge got actual game breaking bugs recently and both got killswitched within a day. Of course they should take better action against bugs such as the MS one (check how Blast mine is still there even though currently can make you invisible btw), but why do people have to get catty and sassy over this.
Looks like devs can’t ever really win. If they don’t take action people complain, if they take action they complain as well.
I hate the "us vs them" too but I would argue having to do every generator twice because of a perk that could be killswitched and avoided so easily was also game-breaking. But they didn't care for a month. I will forgive but never forget LOL.
-
Had to deal with Merciless Storm reverting gens back to 0% for a month, everybody exploited the heck out of it.
Also didn't forget when mangled would make almost every survivor action take longer for weeks and nobody cared but whatever.
-
Ugh yes. I hate hearing screams over and over. It's very overstimulating.
-
Not only is it rare... it's "very, very rare" according to this answer LOL. The gaslighting...
Which is also contradictory since you would want to reward someone who has accomplished something "very, very rare".
-
They would have to recode half of the perks then. There's a lot of killer/survivor perks that counter eachother or certain playstyles.
-
Yeah nobody should have to deal with this... Reminds me of that Merciless Storm exploit they let happen for weeks but this is worse because it even has the potential to take the game hostage.
-
Yeah I don't see why a game would have to last longer than 30 mins in DbD unless someone is taken hostage.
-
Makes you realize how many useless/niche/outdated perks we have! Thank you for taking your time to do this and share it. I'm all for these perks getting some love!

I remember a while ago in this forum someone said Calm Spirit was too strong because it doesn't alert the crows, and the crows is a detrimental way to spot survivors, and removing that is too much.
We're running out of things to complain about... We really are in dark times my friend... 😭

@Skillfulstone said:
I frankly think the whoke thing is pretty pointless. It won't fix lobby shopping, all it will do is change how people lobby shop even if it is just an optional thing.
If all prestige are hidden, then Killers will dodge based on skins and items more than now. This would prompt more people to switch to their preffered skins/items last seconds, making Killers bitter and lose interest in the game (increasing DC chance and probability of scummy playstyle).
If hiding prestige is an option, Killers will dodge more against those with hidden prestige.
In my opinion whether this changes goes through or not, all it will do is make lobby shopping different, it won't fix anything other than preventing people from showing off a bit before the game.
Well it's eliminating one of the most common reasons people dodge so that's a start.
Also dodging others based on outfits is a thing? We need a documentary about those people.

It’s interesting to me how anytime people criticizes an element of survivor gameplay (like awful perks), you have an example of a time when that perk or feature just totally saved the day for you. It’s a convenient pattern I’ve noticed in your responses.
"That one time I got value from x perk so it isn't absolute garbage!"☝️🤓
-
I made a discussion about this not long ago and it ended with an extremist killer main starting their nerf calm spirit campaign under my post.😭 I'm still traumatized.
-
To be honest BHVR does a pretty good job listening to community feedback compared to other games I've been a part of and I've played a lot of online games. BUT your experience is still valid.
-
Why do you guys act like killers are the only ones getting outmatched by matchmaking? Do survivors get to skip a sweatlord P100 Blight if they choose to? No. You aren't entitled to do so either.
Your thought process is so "me, me, me" and you would blame anything for your loss except for yourselves. Even a meaningless number next to survivor's name. Those people won't magically perform any different if they choose to play on their low prestige characters just for you to not feel emotional about the match.
This is good for the overall health of the game and if you claim otherwise you're just saying so because it doesn't benefit you personally and you got too comfortable skipping every other lobby and you don't care about others.

Damn she ate her up!

@Beatricks said:
Off The Record is probably the best example of the incomprehensible balance decisions that the developers of this game make so often.
Back before the great meta shakeup, BHVR admitted that they wanted to make more playstyles viable and combat hard tunneling and facecamping. For the second one, we got a real money exclusive perk with Reassurance that sees some success, but is dependent on someone in the lobby bringing it, and that they aren't the one to be facecamped. Now, BVHR is currently developing a basekit solution to this particular problem which is probably going to cause two or three more issues than the one it is solving based on everything I'm about to write below.
Tunneling on the other hand? Oh man, oh man, did they buff that bad boy so hard its borderline broken now! DS was completely destroyed even though in that iteration of the perk it was one of the healthiest and most balanced ones that only hurt Killers who were hard tunneling before the endgame. And why was one of the most balanced and healthiest perks completely killed? Because it was picked too often! Instead of BHVR realizing that it was such a crucial aspect of gameplay that it literally couldn't be ignored and the perk must be brought into every single trial, they just completely nuked it, without solving the reason it was so necessary.
But wait I hear you cry, what about OTR, a perk specifically redesigned to be an anti-tunneling perk? Surely, it must be doing something, right? Oh right! The Killer unhooks you, hits you immediately disabling the most important effect, endurance, and then runs after you, rendering the old Iron Will portion of it largely useless. Even if you are desperate enough to run new DS, you stun the Killer and they catch up to you before you can make it to a safe loop.
But wait! There's MORE! If you are a Killer who is not tunneling, you might come across a healthy survivor, injure them and then eat an endurance effect because they have been saving it while you went after the unhooker! Absolutely brilliant, punishing the behavior it supposedly should be promoting. The epitome of shooting yourself in the foot.
OTR is the crystalized essence of BHVR game design. That's my opinion on the perk.
Damn this comment was such a slay. Literally summarizing everything so well.👌
-
Because nobody should be entitled to cherrypick their opponents until they come across a lobby they can stomp on.
I want the freedom to say I don't want to play against certain killers. Do I get that privilege?

Or tunnel the keyholder out of the game.
Which was on my very short list of understandable reasons to tunnel.
The old hatch/key mechanic was the worst.
Tbh they should bring it back but only against Skull Merchant.👀
-
I get it if there are 2 survivors left and the killer slugs me because the other survivor is around and got found close to me. I have absolutely 0 issues with that. What sucks is when I'm downed and the other survivor is nowhere close to us but the Killer decides to slug me to find the other survivor searching the whole map. Such a waste of time.
-
Residual Manifest: After a successful Killer Blind, the Killer suffers from the Blindness Status Effect permanently.
-
I really like the aura-hiding and silent grunts part.
But the extended endurance is meaningless if the killer wants to tunnel me off hook anyways. So it doesn't really help against a deliberately tunneling killer imo.

- STBFL provides little to no value in the early game unless the survivors are just playing terribly and getting hit every other second.
- STBFL doesn't have much impact when it comes to hook camping. Now that hook grabs are gone, you can still get a trade-off even if the killer has full STBFL stacks.
The second part is factually wrong. Can't tell you how many unhooks I have interrupted and got a down thanks to STBFL before the survivor could unhook properly. Hook grabs gone doesn't = you can't interrupt the unhooker. :)

when did downing somebody stop being considered skilled? while the kick itself might be unskilled at least its a tradeoff, you lose distance on the person repairing it in exchange for applying eruption. it takes 1.8s, giving the survivor 7.2m of distace. 7.2/0.6=12 seconds to regain the distance you just gave them, allowing them to cover 48 more meters of ground before you reach them. Its more of a tradeoff than people realize, and only a few killers can regain that distance quickly to counteract it.
at least it requires setup, if we're going to say downing someone isnt skilled we should be complaining about pain res or pgtw, not eruption.
Damn I guess I never realized I was that skillful LOL.

Those perks are in no way even similar, so that's just a horrible comparison. You've made no point.
MFT and Dark Theory are both haste perks but there are variables that differentiate them.
Spies and UW are both info perks but there are variables that differentiate them.
Just because they're similar perks and "spies does a similar thing" doesn't mean people can't say UW is problematic. There's more to it. Your comparison was flawed and mine is flawed on purpose to show you what you sound like.
Point made.

Are you saying that cuz it only reveals the location of the bird right next to you rather than you? Is a killer going to miss YOU being a meter away from the bird?
Spies triggers 36meters away and around the survivor so you have to use your brain and logic to figure out where the survivor is if they're not in the open. UW is more like I opened a locker so now I know exactly where you are LOL.
